There's nothing really wrong with this place, other than it doesn't have anything great or different about it. The food is just alright and is overpriced. The ambiance is a bit pretentious. There are many other places nearby with better food and a better atmosphere.

Food is good, great selection of local beers and staff is super friendly. The reason it's not 5 stars is that it often gets too noisy and it's a bit pricey. But if you want to go out and are OK with loud talking it's a good option.

Talk about disappointment and the feeling that I'd just been swindled out of fifty bucks. The price and the given quality do not match up at all. After you order the burger and fries the meal comes close to fifteen dollars per person. The bun was soggy. Fries limp. Service curt. Room cold. The only positive was the root beer.

Live this place! Burgers are always great, and the fries are awesome. Recently Mac and cheese was added to the menu, and it is a great addition. Haven't tried any of the beers unfortunately, but there is quite the impressive list. The craft pops are great. My wife likes the Turkey and veggie burgers, but she prefers the single patty to the double. The option to choose is nice. I've been going to this place since before they were bought out. Things changed, but the basic menu and appeal of the food seemed to survive the transition, and improved upon. The a same company owns Buffalo wild wings, so if you look close enough you can see some similarities.

Bacon cheeseburger has 2 strips of bacon. Server very slow at refilling drinks. Still waiting for the free, replacement burger....this is taking foreverrrrr Has a great spot in the city...thought it'd be nice, but quite the opposite

My girlfriends and I came here for dinner and had a great experience! We were greeted promptly and our server was very knowledgable. All of our burgers and salads came out accurately and quickly! We will be back!

Giving it another try, plus it's 1/2 off craft beers.I tried the nachos they were ok.

Food is ok when you dine in and that is the only reason for 2 stars and not 1. The place has consistently gone down hill since it opened. Every time we have ordered carry out they have messed the order up and forgot to give us something. We will never go there again and that is too bad since we can walk there.

I am not a fan of burgers. So, why would I go to a place that serves burgers and very little else? I am the sole female in a family of six, enough said. Service was perfect. I liked the fool-proof ordering system. They had different flavors of pop. I can put so many toppings on my burger that I barely notice the turkey patty. Sweet potato chips make me happy. Good- for a burger joint.

Good service, great to watch sports, food isn't as good as other BWW I've been to. Parking also hard to find at times.

I've been to a few bagger Dave's enough times to review it. You're not getting out of here for less than 8.50 and that's a burger and soda. The service is less than friendly and they ONLY cook the 7 ounce burgers medium well. They have some unusual menu options like a Tuscan burger and a Santa Fe or the Train Wreck with cut up potatoes, cheddar, lettuce fried eggs and a rail house sauce. The inside is nostalgia themed to the city the franchise is located in. They have booths, stools or you may sit at the bar. Lots of TV's. Its not terrible but there are better places in town.

This place is horrible, what kind of restaurant has advertisements ON THE TV AT THE BAR. Don't go to this place if you want to catch a game on the TV. Horrendous place to watch March Madness.

Pros: Very good burgers - they were all very juicy and flavorful. I really enjoyed the Blue Burger. I like that there are two sizes for each burger: 4 or 8oz for beef and one or two 3.5 oz patties for turkey. We really enjoyed the dipping sauces for the fries as well. The prices are surprisingly not marked up! Cons: They will only cook medium or medium well, instead of the proper burger temperature of medium rare. The beer selection is a bit small (four on draft, plus about four or five other beers. The fries tended to stick together and were on the soggy side.

Stopped here with my father for lunch. He ordered the train wreck burger and I had the Santa Fe chipotle (turkey) burger. The turkey burger has a spicy sauce and a guacamole that are delicious. We also had a Mac n cheese. I have also enjoyed both versions of the fries. The burgers, Mi craft beer selection, and service are all good enough to consider a visit. This is a reasonable chain burger restaurant. I believe the turkey burger is excellent and is the reason I continue to come back.

I am so disappointed in Bagger Dave's. I can literally walk to the restaurant from my house and have attempted to do so, three times, all to no avail. The first time, my husband and I went and tried the burgers and fries. I had a turkey burger with some sort of fancy artichoke aioli and my husband had a bbq burger and fries. Our food took 45 minutes to get to the table and there were 3, yes, 3 other guests in the restaurant. That should have been warning #1. But after 45 minutes, and a reminder to our waiter that we existed, our food came out. I opened my burger to find a heaping mess of slop on my patty, and was shocked it was frozen in the middle. Frozen? Really? The fries were cold and my husband's burger was just as bad. We paid and left without eating our meal. Attempt two came about 6 months later when I was home alone and wanted to kill some time before a meeting. I walked to the restaurant and found I had it almost all to myself again for lunch. I ordered the simplest thing I could find, a grilled cheese sandwich and sweet potato fries. In keeping with the apparent trend, 45 minutes later I received a half cold, half room temperature sandwich with bread just as white as when it came out the bag. You could have convinced me it was stale rather than grilled because there was no butter or anything used to toast and flavor the bread. And then they threw in a sad, mushy mess of a tomato that made the sandwich soggy in the middle. Again, I left without eating. The 3rd and final attempt came when I was assured there was new management and new staff 2 years later. I tried the new mac and cheese. Again, completely cold if not frozen in the middle and somehow flavorless from the corner I did try. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I really wanted this place to be good. I have NO idea how it is still in business.

I don't get all of the hate about Bagger Dave's that are some recent reviews. Went here yesterday for dinner and it was alright. It wasn't a mind blowing, OMG must go back again immediately type of meal, but I was craving a burger and it hit the spot. Ordered the spicy artichoke dip, it was okay. Didn't really get the spice part of it, and while the chips were tasty, they were a tad too thin to be able to dip in there without breaking off. And a bit too much pico on top if you ask me. Also got the Trainwreck Burger without a bun. I like the presentation so it's not just a pile of burger on a plate, but they plate it up nicely like a salad. With tip I ended up spending almost $25 so yeah, a bit pricey for what you get, but I also don't go out to eat a ton (specifically for the fact that spending $20-$25 on one meal takes a hit on the budget) but next time I'll skip the dip :)

I cannot tell you how happy I am to write this review It is a very rare occurance where I am in a bad mood. I consider myself to be a very happy go-lucky person. However, when my wife and I walked into bagger daves, I just was not in the right state of mind. I had been having a bad day, and for some reason we had just ended up going out to Bagger Dave's... and well, nothing was going to make my day better. We were seated... we started talking about drink specials... etc. And that was it. Then our waitress was finishing up taking care of the table behind us, when I started listening in. She was ever so delicate, when it came to the end of the meal for them... she was curious if they wanted any dessert, however, she didn't want to come right out and say it to clue in the little ones that they had with them in on it. So what did she do? She spelled it out for them. I don't know why, but I had chuckled at that. It was as smooth as you could get.... offering it up in such a way that the little ones had no idea, but the parents could if they wanted to. They finished up their meal... and our waitress was on our way to our table. She took our drink order, and I had to complement her on her way of offering up dessert. I thought that it was rather ingenious to make sure the little ones couldn't get all riled up for it... while maintaining a nice finished meal. She said that she loved making sure to be able to make everyone's meals specail there, no matter what the age, while also making sure that everyone is completely satisfied with all of their services. Now, I've been to quite a few places... and I cannot tell you how rare it is to actually find a waiter / waitress that actually feels that way. It is very rare. After she returned with our drinks... we placed our food order... and started to continue just to talk about random things. I have to say it... she seemed like a waitress that just... genuinely cared about the people that she was taking care of.. even if it was for a short hour or so while they were seated in her section. The burgers came... they tasted fantastic... she was always on top with a refill of our pops before we even had to ask for them... All in all... I was very impressed with the service. In fact, we had found ourselves talking so much, that I had soon found that my kinda... 'pissy' mood that I had walked in with... had completely disappeared. And... well, I was happy. I don't think I can honestly say that just through a normal experience at a restaurant, that I had taken my crappy day, and have it completely turned around just by a server. Until this day. :) Just to top it off... as she came up to our table she leaned over to my wife and asked her if I was deserving of any "D-e-s-s-e-r-t"... And I had to chuckle at it. I want to thank Maddie... (Or Madeline) I believe the receipt said... for completely changing my day around that day. Your service was impeccable... and you truly have a great personality to make people's day. Thank you :)

After visiting this place many times since my first review, I must say that my opinion has deteriorated. The waitstaff are too "familiar" - way beyond friendly. Example- I don't need to know about your eye/vision problems. The sweet potato chips have been cold and chewy the past 3 times I've had them. The floor was dirty twice. The men's room is not maintained. There are many good burger places in the area and Bagger Dave's is not keeping up.

I live in Berkley and was excited to see this place come to town, however I never made it there because my friends in the neighborhood said the place is quite average and I am a pretentious ass who abhors most "chains" of any sort. My son implored us for weeks to take him there because he got some kind of "reading reward" from school that gets him a free kid's meal with the purchase of an adult meal. Today, the wife caved and took us over there for dinner. We are all still reeling. I saw they had a french dip of sorts but the specified "meat" they use for it was not anywhere else on the menu. (Baaad sign, typically equates to frozen processed mal carne) so I jumped in with both feet and got a burger. The wife and the crotch fruit all opted for burgers and fries as well. My daughter's orange creme soda was somewhat gross, wife said it reminded her of baby aspirin, I thought it tasted kind of like diet or the sweetener was made in a lab. We all ordered our burgers Medium (waited a good 30 min for them to come out) and as I was expecting, every one of them came out heinously burnt to shit. When the waitress explained we could get a 4oz or 8oz, we didn't realize the 8oz is 2-4oz stacked.up and incinerated.....completely baffled at how the bottoms of our burgers were all soggy and nasty. These burgers (that also have not even been seasoned before burning) are seriously expensive considering how ridiculous they are and a side of FF was $3.75 for each of us. These hand cut sloppy limp things were far from crisp and (as was the case of the burgers) barely room temperature. The manager came by to see if we "were ok". I didn't have the heart to embarrass my wife and kids by rattling off the number of jacked up things that were wrong with the meal nor send anything back....I was particularly surprised that she did not pre bus the mounting plates nor offer refills for the glasses that were perched at the edge. Our waitress was decent and hit or miss.... I am very surprised to see so many reviews hate on the poor service but falling over themselves to expound on the great food/gruel this place slings. I am almost positive it has to be the typical American who doesn't like their burger unless it's an unseasoned hockey puck. You know who you are! (I have to go to at least 3 of your crappy BBQ's every summer!) After reviewing this before posting, I realize I sound like a privileged, snotty, cowardly (yes, I should've told mgmt), immature asshat, who is a foodie DBag who takes his dinners out waaay too seriously.....and that may be true. But for $60+ to take the family out for burgers, the experience better be a whole lot better than that. I told the kids to take a good long look around before we left. I would have to be brain damaged to ever come back considering we have Red Coat, Vincetta Garage, or Vincetta Grill in the same vicinity.

Not the best burger in town but it's not bad either. It's nice that you can customize your burger and that they have a gluten free menu. Besides those two things, this restaurant it just ok. I had their rootbeer and it was nothing spectacular. They over-cooked my burger and everyone else's meals were ok too. I guess the sweet potato chips are a big deal but I don't know what all the fuss is about....

My husband loves burgers. He always wants to keep trying Bagger Dave's. We've been two times. So far, I'm not really impressed. It's just OK. During our last visit, service was incredibly slow. There were a lot of staff members standing around, but not enough servers. The bathroom was weird. The toilets didn't seem to be working. That's always fun. It's a small place with a lot of chaos. The turkey burger that I ordered was fairly dry. I understand that it's turkey and doesn't have much fat. I just wasn't impressed with it. I liked the fries. I'm pretty easy to please with fries. The beer list was decent. Can't be mad at that! It's definitely the draw for us to visit. Again, the husband is a burger man. I'm sure we'll be back to feed his craving.

Took the family out for dinner while in the Royal oak, Berkley area tonight. I have seen the bagger daves by my home but have yet to try it, so when seeing one here we decided to give it a try. We were plesantly suprised! Not only was there a train that the kids thought was awesome and kept them entertained they had a nice selection of beers that yoh dont see everywhere. I had a trainweck ale since it. Seemed to go with the theme. The food was good, me and my wife both created our own burgers and the kids had grilled cheese(cant miss) with that. We will definatly have to try the shelby location next time since its closer to home next time but overall this place was a good time.

I've been here countless times, and the food never disappoints. I've ordered the same burger every time with the chipotle bbq sauce and it never gets old. The sauce makes the burger 100%. The fries are great and the sweet potato chips with honey mustard are one of my favorite foods of all time. The staff is always very friendly, but only 4 stars because it's always pretty slow every single time I'm here. They also always change something every time I go there, and it's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's kind of strange.

My wife and I frequent this location. We have very few options due to dietary restrictions and Bagger Dave's is one of our favorite options. The staff is what really sets this location apart from the rest. I will preface the next statement with the fact that when I get my burger I pile on the toppings. This being said, more often than not there is at least one item (at most two) missing from my "build your own" burger. Again, I LOAD IT UP so I understand when an item isn't on the burger and it's the beginning of a high revenue period. In the event that something is missing the staff is WAY more than willing to obtain that item. They do a great job and they are the reason my wife and I come to this location!

Recent renovations make Bagger Dave's one of the upscale dining options in the People's Republic of Berkley, and a plenty fine place to get your beer on. Handsome, deep booths abound in a dark, relaxing interior that invites watching the game as much as having a cozy conversation over a tureen of gooey, cheesy macaroni. Bagger Dave's does very nicely between breezy summertime lunches on the patio and hearty, belly-warming foods on a chilly evening. Bagger Dave's does "a la carte" burger ordering. Select your preferred patty, slather it in sauces, veggies, condiments, and various other additions. Pair some sides, and the kitchen whips up what you want to-order. The menu also contains premade burger options, my favourite being the Tuscan turkey. My beau gravitates towards pretzel buns, bacon, cheese, and meat in some combination almost every time, and you can score a mouthwatering option to suit your mood and palate. Unlike its main competitors, fries or onion rings are extra, so the burgers come out spendier than average. The menu also contains other staples, and noteworthy options include the hearty, rib-sticking chili and the three varieties of mac and cheese. Think cheese, even more cheese, and cheese with bacon (my man's preference). Who comes to a burger restaurant for macaroni? A pregnant woman, that's who, and when you have enhanced senses of smell and taste, macaroni and cheese becomes a difficult proposition. Their creamy blend suited me very well, and the texture of the noodles was just right. So there's the food, but the liquid libations are equally part of the draw. Sadly, I am not your girl to judge how good the beers are (or aren't). I don't drink beer except under a very rare moon indeed. They offer handcrafted pop, however, and their mystery flavours are always exciting. Black cherry is delicious; the summer's pomegranate-acai won me over as well. Unfortunately... they have no hot drinks but coffee. No tea. Really!? Not all of us want water and not everyone likes coffee. Seriously, I'll bring a travel mug if that's the case. The sound level is not particularly quiet, especially during busy games. Food for thought; this is not a restaurant to go to study on a Thursday night. You know who you are. PROTIP: Order on their website for carryout! Get all the numminess of a fancy burger in the comfort of your own car or your own house. They do a fine job preparing it on time.

Disappointed, once again. I tried out this location for a second time last weekend (due to I had a "store credit" from my first awful experience) and sadly... again I am let down. The burger was all soggy due to the ketchup/mustard/lettuce was only on half of the bun! The fries were cold. And I had to wait 10 mins for them to make my shake (kudos to the girl that did) it was good. When I went to pay with the store credit the manager wasn't too friendly. I think this just solidifies the fact I won't be returning anytime soon, or ever.

My review of 5-stars is not saying this is a 5-star full-menu quality restaurant, however, it IS A 5-STAR BURGER RESTAURANT!! No Doubt About That. There were 6 of us for dinner there during the hectic Dream Cruise weekend. We got the invite from family & friends. My husband I live about 1.5 miles east of Woodward Ave. in R.O. and didn't really want to go to Bagger Dave's thinking about the craziness to get there and needing to cross Woodward Ave. during the Dream Cruise. Well we decided what the heck, and went! We got there in pretty good time.. Now 4 out of the 6 of us had never been there before. We, like others who have given reviews here, had a great waitress, she was kind, funny and interactive with us! We are outgoing people and love that! After we arrived & I looked at their menu, I knew I wanted an 8 oz burger, however, I was feeling a little embarrassed to order one that size! (I was starving though) lol. Luckily for me, I was the last person to order and the 5 before me ALL ordered an eight oz. burger. The pressure was off!! I am totally serious when, I say that was the best burger I have ever had! We all know what it takes to make a damn good burger.. Well they have got it down! The burgers were hot, juicy, seasoned well and cooked to our personal request. 6 out of 6 arrived at the table perfect! No one took home a doggie bag. All food was gone! Now, at least three of that group are not large people, they ate every bite. It is easy to devour delicious food. I know burgers shouldn't be on our daily menu, however, most of us crave a delicious great tasting burger from time to time. When I go out and get a burger, Bagger Dave's will be at the top of my list! Previously, we had been to Smash Burger several times. WELL - Good-buy Smash Burger... HELLO BAGGER DAVES!!

I like it. It is a great place to watch a game with your friends - there are several large tables and multiple televisions and we have never had a problem getting seated. The best part - Bagger Dave's has great beer - lots of local and craft choices. The food is decent - you can build your own burger. The fries aren't crispy enough for me, but the mac and cheese is tasty. The service here is really good. They are happy to accommodate larger parties and split checks up individually. There is a lot of parking right next to the restaurant as well.

I went there with a friend and our children, total of 6 people. Service was slow and the waitress was immediately confused by the drink order: 3 waters and 3 lemonades. When the food came two of the orders were correct, the rest was wrong and one meal was forgotten. The manager tried to help, but at that point, an hour later, we were over it. To top it off the food was not good at all. I haven't been to Bagger Dave's in a while, but I remember their food was decent. Not anymore! Will never go back.

The place is okay. I went once to get a burger and see if this place would live up to a friends hype. Forgettable is the only way I can describe it. Making my own burger is something I do when I grill out, not eat out. Give me options and sell me when I ask what's good. Otherwise it's a bacon cheese burger that's just okay. I'm not a chef, I eat.

Let me preface this review by stating that I have a small child, and that I love Bagger Dave's more now than I did before I had kids. First of all, they have a model train that constantly chugs around the restaurant. What kid wouldn't love that? Second of all, they have some excellent/unique kids meal selections (think grilled peanut butter, honey, and banana sandwiches). Thirdly, all kids meals are 1/2 off on Sundays. Fourthly, they serve some great local craft beers, which are perfect for calming the nerves of a parent trying to take their child out to eat at a restaurant. The food itself at Bagger Dave's is nothing life-changing, but it is leagues better than your typical chain restaurant. I particularly like their fries (which are served in paper bags and perfectly-accompanied by the malt vinegar they keep a bottle of at each table). If fries aren't your thing they also serve up some tasty in-house sweet potato chips. I also like the fact that they serve delicious turkey burgers. I would actually go so far as to say their turkey burgers taste better than their beef burgers, and there is nothing wrong with their beef burgers. As for the burgers, you can either choose to make your own or go with one of the "Legendary Burgers" on the menu. The PB&J(alapeno) turkey burger is really good, and the Train Wreck burger is also quite good if your cholesterol levels seem a bit low. Another delicious menu item is their Sloppy Dave BBQ, which is essentially a sloppy joe made w/ turkey on sourdough, that tastes way better than it sounds. And it's cheap, too, and is also one of the kids menu items (my kid LOVES it). I am not the sort off person who would EVER order a sloppy joe from a restaurant, and my wife doesn't like them at all, but somehow in a moment of brave insanity I ordered one of these things and we all LOVE it now. It is probably my favorite menu item there. The service has always been pleasant and efficient there. The staff are nice and remember us, even if we're only in once a month or so. The decor is agreeable (did I mention they have a model train?) and I don't feel like a total jerk there if my kid decides not to sit still and be quiet through the whole meal. And they always have great beers on tap... did I mention I like beer? All in all, I am not a fan of chain restaurants. But this place isn't bad at all. I only hope that if they continue to grow that their quality does not begin to suffer for it (as seems to happen with ALL chains). Crossing my fingers.

I can't believe it took me so long to go here. I was sold by the time I ordered my food. You can create your own burger by actually filling out a little worksheet about what you want and turning it in to your waiter! No more guessing what costs extra and what doesn't, and no more getting a screwed up order because you wanted such specific toppings! It's pure genius. I can't believe more places don't do it. Oh, and they basically open up one of the walls in the summer, the windows are so big and there are no screens. I love it. Also, one of the best burgers I've ever had. By far better than any other casual burger chain restaurant out there.

Never had to wait for a table even though they always seem to be busy. Service is always great, burgers and fries are fresh tasting. Order off the menu or build your own burger. They have a full bar and a few tvs. They have both booths and tables to sit at or the bar. It's fun to watch the train run around the restaurant above your head on the ceiling doing the whole choo choo as it goes by. Carry out is always quick and spot on. Very kid friendly

This is Bagger Dave's first opened location. And I'm happy to see another Michigan based business start to grow in the community. Pros: Most of the food I've had here is great. You can build you're own sandwich, but I found lately their menu selections have been a really good choice. I like the new recipe on the fries. Don't get me wrong, the peanut oil was an acceptable alternative to PHO (Partially hydrogenated Oil/Vegetable Shortening), but it made them soggy. I think the new fries are using a another oil which makes them crispy and they say they are not using PHO. The Blues burger is amazing. The waitstaff has always been responsive and warm, whether in dining room or carryout. Cons: For carry-out, avoid the pasta dishes & nachos. In the store, it's fresh and they are great...but not carryout. There's an older gentlemen at the store...he can be a little itchy and scratchy. Sometimes, as a customer I feel a little uneasy with him. However, I know he helps run a tight ship here so he gets props for that. Sometimes just interacting with him feels wrong. I can't put my finger on it. And I cannot offer advice to assist him as I can't easily articulate the issue. My suggestion is let the warm vibrant staff interact with us, and he can be the captain running the voyage. I'm glad this place is here. And you know, frankly for another hamburger joint in a market filled with places that do the same...they have definitely found a way to be valuable and different.

My first time trying it because my kid had been given a free kids meal from school. The place was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon of freezing rain. I opened the door and the look on the hostess waitress looked like what the hell are you doing here? A smile and welcome would be nice on a dreary day. I put on the extra nice to show the young girl always be pleasant even when you do not want to be there. I had the great american burger and a caramel sea shake. Has this place ever heard of seasonings called salt and pepper? The burger was cooked to medium well like I ask it to be but it was not all that hot. I eat a lot of good burgers not the fast food kind and thought the meat had a weird texture. The shake of the month could had use a LOT more caramel and sea salt. The kid of course loved every bite. Everything was ok but at eight bucks a burger and five for a shake, I would rather next time hit up B spot.

I had the special, which was really good (turkey burger). My son got a burger and added a few items that made it into a $11 sandwich- really? They have a nice happy hour that supports MI local brews, which is great.

I decided to give them another shot recently during lunch since I was feeling nostalgic. This place was actually pretty good when it first opened. Unfortunately I was disappointed again. My burger actually came with bacon (I inspected it carefully and managed to find the two 2-inch strips) and it tasted okay. The turkey chili however was lukewarm and the "craft sodas" were...not good (they don't serve Coca-Cola anymore). The fries were lukewarm and the service was spotty at best. There weren't many people there at all but it took 20 minutes to pay the bill. Their credit card system wasn't working and I had to pay cash. It was an all around disappointing experience...

Bagger Dave's is a great option when you have kids in tow. The train that travels through the restaurant provides practically endless entertainment. The create your own burger is the way to go: pick a bun, burger (large or small / turkey, beef or black bean), cheese, sauces and toppings (free & premium options). Pile the stuff on and get sloppy! Over the years, the fries have changed. First, they were great. Then, for a long time they were bad. Now, they are back to being quite good. YAY! The honey cinnamon dipping sauce (intended for sweet potato fries) is delicious. I believe that all of their dressings are made on site. Santa Fe Chipotle sauce is yummy & spicy! Good chili, too. The service is typically friendly. They can accommodate groups. Take the fam out for a burger!

Love the san fe burger. Like that they added pepperjack cheese. Sad is their attempt at potato chips, she said they were like kettle chips. Thought, yum, I like kettle! But it was greasy stuck together not cooked all the way potato slices. Very salty too! Just stick with the burger, you won't be sorry.

My five star review is mostly for our server James. The food was very good, the restaurant was clean and I liked the atmosphere but the best part about my visit was James. He was professional, funny, polite and attentive. He suggested items to add on and he took pride is his job as if he owned the restaurant. If I owned a restaurant I would have offered him a job on the spot. This Bagger Dave's location was MUCH better than the ones I have been to before. I am not in Berkley too often but I may make it a point to head that way to go back to Bagger Dave's. Thanks again to James for the FANTASTIC service!

My first trip to Bagger Dave's was so bad that I said I was never going back, but that was a different location, of which you can find in my reviews... let me tell you, I am so glad that I didn't hold true to my conviction on that one (sort of). This Bagger Dave's location is so unbelievably better than the last one I went to, that I almost don't believe it's the same chain. The service was remarkable, the food came out fast and exactly as ordered and the overall atmosphere of the entire place was just a blast. I would definitely return to this location!

Grabbed some takeout Bagger Dave's recently. I got 2 turkey burgers and a black bean burger. The black bean burger was slightly spicy but that could have been the jalapenos on the burger. The Turkey burgers were very juicy and had great toppings. The fries were average or below average, but the sweet potato chips were great. They came with some sauces but we ended up eating most of them without the sauce. The food was good, reasonably priced. Not as good as Redcoat, but much easier to access. I may be back, if only for the sweet potato chips!

I think this place is great. Of course it's near my home, so that doesn't hurt. But overall I think the food is delicious and I love their selection of craft Michigan beer. They have an eclectic selection of burgers to choose from. You can also build your own. Their french fries and potato chips are made in house and are fantastic. (The chips come with dipping sauce, and they are yummy.) Lately I've been hooked on the California BLT. I think it has avocado spread, hence the Cali reference. As I mentioned, I enjoy the beer selection. The overall ambiance is cool enough. Plenty of TVs in the bar area for sports. There's a cool electronic train that circles the restaurant near the ceiling which amuses me. Downsides... not many. A little pricey perhaps. But I don't mind paying for quality. Gets a little crowded on the weekend at dinner, but that speaks to the quality I think.

I had to go stand at the take-out counter and demand to talk to the manager but he NEVER CAME OUT!!!! I demanded our food to go and for free and I had to wait another half hour IN LINE!!!!!

We went to Bagger Dave's once before early last year, and couldn't remember why we haven't been back. Now we know. We went there again last night and although the food was decent, the prices are ridiculous for what you get. We got 2 burgers, fries, a 'cup' of chili and 2 soft drinks. $40 including tip. That's just nuts. You really have to watch what you order because there is a hefty upcharge for just about everything. And while the chili was good, a 'cup' consisted of a tiny bowl 1/2 full; my husband got about 4 spoonfuls out of it. And since he ordered it with cheese, it was $5.25, so it must have been at least a dollar for a sprinkle of cheese on top. If the prices were more reasonable, we would definitely go back, since the food is pretty good and the service was o.k. (although very slow). But $40 for a couple burgers & fries? I don't think so.

Burgers, burgers, burgers.... I've rarely met one that didn't become instant BFFs with my tummy... Anytime i'm getting that burger craving (which is more often than I care to admit), I'm always on the lookout for somewhere new to try. I know Bagger Dave's has been around for a while, but it always eluded me when looking for somewhere to go. But hey ya'll, recently I got a smart phone and downloaded the Yelp app and POOF!!! All my bookmarks, whenever I want.. Hells yeah!! I love you so much, Yelp!! We went on Saturday afternoon. Alicia was our server and she was very sweet. They have a pull out of Michigan brewed beers they serve, which is totally awesome to me. Nothing goes better with anything than beer. Yes, you read that right. I got a blonde, hubby got the trainwreck. Decent prices for a nice size glass too. Most are 5.00-7.00... shit, you pay that for a fuckin' Bud Light bottle in RO. Anyways... I have to admit, the menu kinda frustrated me, the prices for food seemed kinda high, and the burgers were ok, but not blowing my socks off or anything. They cook them all the same way, and the patties are thin, so not the juiciest burger i've had. They sure do wrap them up pretty though. All the build-your-own shit left me really kinda pissy because some toppings they charge for, some they don't, and they already have some stuff on the burgers. I realized after I ordered I could have got sauteed onions and mushrooms but I just didn't get it, so maybe i'm the idiot... and they do this with the fries too!!!! Just give me a straight up drippy burger, minus weird stuff like bleu cheese and anchovies.. shit like that. So, I got a double cheeseburger, which seemed the least complicated...hubby got the bbq bacon burger. Both were ok, but i'm telling you, i've had better for what I paid. That's just honest. When we got our burgers, they forgot the fries, so we got them a little after, and they were soooo hot I couldn't eat them anyway.. we took them home. I would def go back for the bar atmosphere, and that blonde was really good. Hubby liked the trainwreck alot too, and at 8.4%, I sure can understand why!! They do offer a lot of turkey burgers too (yuck) and veggie burgers. $35.00 for 2 burgers, 1 double fry and 1 beer each... I think that's kinda hefty, considering the beers were only like 5.00 each. Oh yeah, and I did notice a sign that said Sunday is Family Day and kids can get half off... so that's cool for families. /Confusing!!!

Dear Bagger Dave's: It's unfortunate, but my family will never be back to a Bagger Dave's Burger Tavern location ever again because your corporation oozes with greed. The Berkley location is less than a mile from my house, and used to frequent Bagger Dave's quite often. Apparently, there was a silent roll-out of a significant price increase (presumably to pay for the hundreds of billboards and radio advertisements I see around town). I used to go to Bagger Dave's because the burgers were decent (not good, not great, you ONLY cook them WELL and offer consumers no choice to decide how they want their meat cooked) the fries were good, and it was close to home (and prices were reasonable). The Trainwreck used to be about $8.50 and included fries. I was utterly SHOCKED to see that it is now $10.00 and if I want fries that I have to pay an EXTRA $3.00. How is this at all reasonable for a mediocre burger? My family and I sat down and were speechless when the waitress informed us that fries were extra. We gave her a couple dollars for the waters she brought us and promptly left. Could you please inform your consumers of price increases, and why? Have you priced out competitive burgers? You can get a real honest to god burger, cooked the way you want it anywhere ( Redcoat Tavern included) for less money. I'm sorry to say that you have lost a longtime customer due to your GREEDY business and marketing practices.

Although we have not been here in a while, had the urge as the Roseville location is still 6-8 months away. We sat in the lot & waited for the Noon , opening on Sunday [Google Said 12PM ] & as we walked up, the sign said 11 LOL. The very charming hostess promptly greeted us & thankfully sat us near the kitchen & not on top of the other 2 families, personal space is under rated. Alicia bounced on the scene, filled with smiles & enthusiasm , although she was a vegan she gave good reports on the turkey burgers, based on customer feedback, I have never ever ordered one at a restaurant, today will be that day. I ordered a Turkey Pizza Burger, Mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, pizza sauce, sauteed mushrooms, fresh basil and sliced tomatoes on a sesame bun. Mama Mia it is good! VERY GOOD, & such a moist burger A [ and I had to take 1/2 home ] My Bride ordered the Tuscan Turkey Burger Hand-formed ground turkey patties stacked with sliced mozzarella, tomato, onion, fresh basil, and balsamic vinaigrette on a toasted honey wheat bun. A We split a hand dipped strawberry shale, with real whip cream A+ And they have fresh french fries & fresh sweet potato fries, we chose the original with sea salt, a small was more than enough for the 2 of us. A+ The manager even stopped by to check on us & apologized about the wrong hours on google [ nice touch ] & I ordered a bowl of there famous Turkey /Black Bean Chili to go~ Looking forward to the Roseville location in late 2012

Burger was disappointing. Reminded me of 5 Guys too much. Both I will not be eating again. The meat is too lean and bland. The positive, much like 5 guys too, the fries are superb.

While we have enjoyed dinners here in the past,, the last two times we've had a terrible experience. It appears they need additional (and better) help as well as managers. Last month we were ignored. Apparently our table was in a dead zone as no one claimed us as their customer. When we finally were able to flag someone down, she took our order but then forgot about it. 1/2 hour later, after asking twice about when we'd get our salad, we left without our food. To their credit, they came outside and offered a $25 gift certificate. We tried again last night (a month later) and HAD NEARLY THE Same EXPERIENCE! It was unbelievable. The waitress was the same one we had last time. She was nice enough but not too with it. My husband (again) never got his salad. The burgers are good and we enjoy the family atmosphere but the service and management has gone way down from previous times. Our bill was only $15 or so because we never got salad, and we presented the certificate. We did not get the rest of our certificate back and would have ordered dessert or something to go if we knew that. We will not be returning.

Bagger Dave's is a solidly decent place for a burger. Sometimes I feel like blue cheese-grilled onions and jalapenos, and sometimes I fee like bacon-cheddar-pickles and A1. And other days I feel like something altogether different. Thankfully, I can always get it. Two points of bitching. First, always ask for your fries extra crispy. Otherwise, the fries are a bit flubby. Second, the service is very hit or miss. Some nights, the service is good. Other nights, the service completely and utterly sucks. There really is no in between.

Very Nice on the inside, very relaxing. The trains overhead helped pass the time in between conversations until my Huge Greasy Cheeseburger w Bacon came. The fries are like ones you would get at a carnival, So good. Service was outstanding during there big lunch rush. I really can't wait to back here to eat. The fries really did it for me. I would place Baggers on my top 5 Burger Joints!

I have visited Bagger Dave's on several occasions. Usually the service was slow & I would be on lunch so I switched to carry out. I would call in my order or fax my order (then call to confirm) and then pick up. Food is usually ready within 15 minutes. I like that you can customize your burger and that they have unique burgers "LEGENDS". The idea of a variety of dipping sauce is cool. However at 40 cents each, I stick with 1 or 2 for my fries. I have tried the regular fries with Cajun spice (they are stingy with the spice so if you like spicy then you have to ask for extra). I love the honey mustard dipping sauce and the new sweet adobe sauce (it is AMAZING if you like sweet with a bit of spice). They have changed the menu a little (added more items) since my last visit 6 months ago. However, the sloppy Dave's is pretty good. I recently tried the Train Wreck Burger and fries. I must say that they get points for the e club which provides users with a free burger on their birthday (Yes!) Which is the only reason I got the Train Wreck burger because it is $7.49 + tax (fries not included). It had so much on it that I need 2 hands and took 1 patty off. I like the concept of fries, cheese, grilled mushroom, onions, and railhouse sauce (aka house thousand island) on a toasted sesame seed bun. They also put a fried egg on it. Overall, it was a ok burger (reminds me of Five Guys with egg). However, I asked for it well done & it was not. The fries were in a bag (hence, Bagger Dave's) and I requested Cajun fries. Sadly my pick up ticket said Cajun, but when I got to my destination I found no spice what so ever:( That killed my fry fix. I did however like that they used sea salt. Next time I order I will have to open the bag. *Fries are better with dipping sauce. 2 counters would be enough for a single bag of fries. I like that they have a full bar for drinks & the train circling around is cool for kids. NOTE: If you are pro environmental then be prepared because everything is served paper or disposable. Also, I don't eat salt so the burger without seasoning works for me. Based on other reviews that may be a sticky point for the burger lover.

I went here last night for dinner. First time experience. Clean place, friendly staff. I got the build your own burger. It was just okay. Not bad, but not good either. Fries are soggy. I really would not recommend this spot just based on the ok food. I will not be returning as there are many other spots to get a good burger and beer.

It's been two years since my last visit to Bagger Dave's. If you read my previous review, you can see why it's never really on my radar. I didn't have many positive things to say about it. Thankfully I had a bout of indecisiveness that ended up leading me back here. A lot has changed in the two years since I had last visited. The core of their business is still the same: Red Robiny type burgers with the option to build your own. All the same toppings are there, plus a few additional ones. Two years ago there was a severe lack of appetizers. I don't even think they had any. Fortunately this has been rectified. You can now get nachos, chips and salsa, chili, and I think something else. It's not much, but it's better than nothing. They have also stepped up their local craft beer game. I don't remember this being an emphasis before, but now they carry tons of Michigan craft beer. This earns points in my book. The most interesting addition to the menu is their locally made "craft soda." I don't know who makes it for them, but they say it is "locally made in small batches." I'm not picky about the soda I drink. I go back and forth between brands all the time depending on what's on sale, so the addition of local soda is nice. It helps out the local soda economy, and tastes just fine to me. I just had a diet cola, but they offer lots of varieties like orange cream, black cherry cream, grape, lemonade, lemon lime, root beer, etc. Overall I think Bagger Dave's has moved in the right direction. I'm glad I gave them another shot. I think 4 stars is still a little high for them, so consider my rating 3.5 stars.

Great place for a burger! This is our go to spot when we don't want to wait at Redcoat. And it fills the quota quite nicely. I don't think I have ever had the same burger here twice with all the options they have. I even told the waitress to surprise me once. She came back with a turkey burger and I was pleasantly surprised.

This place deserves no stars. Disrespectful, disgusting, and demeaning service from the start. Great way for them to start the New Year off! Not only did we wait 15 minutes for JUST water, we were never notified of who our server was. It was my first time there after my friends kept bragging about it. Once our drink order was taken after 35 mins of still sitting there (the BEST server, Joseph served us) he spilled my drink on the table over my menu and some of my belongings. Instead of apologizing and grabbing a napkin to wipe it up, I had to ask him if he would. Can you say LIVID?!?! Never received an apology for anything at this point. Mind you, it's a Saturday night, he has 2 other tables and I counted 3 other servers standing around looking at us, walking past us, no one offering to wipe the liquid spilled all over our table. Even the manager, a younger Caucasian walked past our table (it's 5 tables being occupied in a place that holds 300 people). I asked him if he minded wiping up the liquid that sat on our table for 25 mins now. He apologized and sent his assistant manager, Leah, over. She proceeded to spray the toxic cleaner on the table at far range almost allowing the liquid to get sprayed into our eyes and drinks. I asked her politely if she could spray the towel first, then wipe. The original server never came over to apologize. Our food was delivered after 70 mins and it was freezing cold. We paid for our drinks and left. I am appalled at the lack of respect for our patrons. I am a server and ashamed of servers and managers acting that way. There are service steps that should be followed at every service establishment. I will definitely be having the last say.

We're regulars - that should be enough of a recommendation considering the amazing number of choices within 5 miles of our house. We love the laid back family atmosphere and tasty food. We also love that they local source so much of their menu - from the beer to the turkey burgers (from a turkey farm in Grand Rapids). And the icing on the cake (for me)? Tootsie Rolls with the bill - zero fat baby!

I have been to this restaurant for almost 2 years. Each time we have had a good time, and they have their own unique taste. I love the chili fries, and the chili. One time there was an issue with the restaurant which was handled properly by their manager, Mary Jo. I would recommend this restaurant. They have their own unique taste and style and me and my woman continue to go back, again and again. Great staff, great service.

One of my absolute favorite places to eat! Every time my sister comes up here from Adrian, she wants something she can't get by her house, and we end up at Bagger Dave's, because it's become one of her favorite places too! We love the handcrafted soda, especially the black cherry! The first time we ever went there was for our mom's birthday, and I called ahead to see if I could bring the cake I had made into the restaurant, and they were very nice and didn't have a problem at all with it. Every server we have ever had was friendly and helpful. And oh the food... so good! I love having the option of being able to build my own burger! I tend to have pretty unusual taste, so this is a great option for me! Although the burgers they have on the regular menu are pretty diverse and amazing by themselves. They always seem to have new offerings. The fries are great, the sweet potato chips are great, and all the dipping sauces you can get for either one are AWESOME! I would definitely recommend Bagger Dave's to anyone who loves great burgers!

At a certain stage in life (i.e. parenthood) your requirements of a restaurant change. Good food (obviously) + family friendly atmosphere = Bagger Dave's. Really, as a parent of a small child, you know you're on borrowed time when you step foot in a restaurant. Little tyrants only have so much patience. They'd much rather be running around like banshees. And the last thing I would ever, ever want is to impose on another patron's meal. The good thing about Bagger Dave's is that there is something about this place that entertains the kiddos. Whether it be the train that runs through the restaurant. Or, the fact that everybody seems to be having a good time and enjoying their food. Or, the fact that the staff is incredibly kind and accommodating. The food is good. They have great alternatives like turkey burgers and black bean burgers that are completely enjoyable if you don't want red meat. The french fries are fantastic because they taste like potatoes. What I mean is, you can taste the flavor (rather than being over powered by grease and salt.) They also have a great selection of Michigan craft beers and a nice selection of wine, too.

As a vegetarian, I love that they offer veggie (black bean) burgers with a whole slew of toppings, and as a human, the fact that they offer 2 kinds of fries makes me smile, but in three visits here I have never had a good experience. I wouldn't have returned after my first experience, but, as it turns out, I've been with groups that chose this place on a couple of other occasions. Last night really sealed the deal for me, though, I think... We met for dinner at 7 and had a 15 minute wait for our table. No big deal. We ordered our various burgers and fries and waited. And waited. And waited. They did not bring our burgers until (literally) one hour after we sat down. Fine, we were all annoyed by the slowness of service, but by that point we were all starving and dug in. First one person, then another started chiming "my burger is cold, my fries are cold, my bun is totally soggy on the bottom..." No one's food was hot - not burgers or fries (and it was not our server - she picked the stuff up and delivered it to us as soon as they rang the bell - we heard it). At least two people also had totally soggy bottom buns. The manager offered to remake our food "on the fly", but since dinner had already taken well over an hour and we had someplace else to be, we didn't opt for that. But really, if you couldn't make it right in an hour, how are you going to make it correctly in a hurry?

Bagger Dave's doesn't serve the most amazing burger in the world - but it'll do. Especially if you have kids in tow. They have a little train that goes around the restaurant towards the ceiling. Kids like trains. I wanted to stop in to the Panini Press yesterday evening but they were sadly closed - as we had our little one with us and were just looking for something relatively quick, we wandered over to Bagger Dave's. The build your own burger menu is where most people go I think - and it's a pretty good idea. Most of the toppings are free with the exception of cheese and things like bacon or guacamole. I enjoy thte fact that sauteed onions and mushrooms are free. They have a few options of the menu that are already customized if you are not feeling creative. The burgers end up tasting pretty all right. I'm not a huge fan of the super thin burgers. That you can't get them cooked to order doesn't matter to me as I personally don't like eating food that is still bleeding. Their chili is decent - although it is a bit watery. The other downside is that they charge you for the cheese and sour cream. That seems a little silly, but whatever. Fries... I really liked them the first time I came. We got a one-of-each and thought they were equally delicious. It has seemed hit or miss ever since then, though. Sometimes they are super soggy. The sweet potato fries definitely were fries in my early visits - and I don't like the switch to chips at all. I think the Sloppy Dave's Fries are new since my last visit - it's like coney dog toppings on top of french fries... plus cheese. They were okay- a bit much. They have "restaurant" ranch - which is good. Can never go wrong with restaurant ranch. This place is owned by the same company that owns Buffalo Wild Wings - so they are to hamburgers what BW's is to wings. They offer you some variety for an edible but not amazing product at a price that is probably more than its worth, but not so much that you are going to get your panties in a twist over it.

They don't season their meat and cook everything well done, if that's your bag then fine but it's not acceptable to me and I will never eat at a restaurant with such low standards just like I don't eat TV dinners, people who do will probably love the food at this dump. Why can't a place that only does burgers and fries grind their meat fresh daily and hand cut the fries? There's a huge difference between 5 stars and crappy fast food. If they are "legendary" or the "best of detroit" they need to step it up a bit, those are high marks for horrible food. The service is painful, what's worse than a middle aged man kissing your butt at a fast food restaurant for my measly tip. Sad really.

Bagger Dave's is a BYOB (Build Your Own Burger) type establishment. There are several pre-made burgers on the menu. You are also given a sheet to BYOB from the options on the sheet. There is regular, turkey or veggie. The large is two patties and the small is one. Cheese is $0.75 extra. There are some deluxe toppings such as a fried egg or guacamole. Then there are the free toppings and condiments. Each burger is about $5-6. No sides are included. I got a pretty standard Turkey burger and though it tasted pretty good, I thought it was quite small for being two patties and $6. It had good flavor and was cooked well. In addition, I chose the sweet potato chips. I expected sweet potato slices that were deep fried, but instead they were more like crisps. They were very salty and quite greasy. They had a good sweet potato flavor and were fried well. I would have liked them to be warmer than room temperature. I recommend the honey cinnamon dipping sauce. It was very good. NOTE: Tuesday's are $1.00 off of all burgers. This makes it more reasonable for sure. I guess the burger was good, but for the same amount of money I could have gotten a really good burger from Red Robin and unlimited fries. For the same quirky fun BYOB experience I could have gone to Vinsetta Grill and had their fried dill pickle chips instead. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's not bad, but there are a lot of better burger joints. I think I'd prefer to go somewhere else.

I visited Bagger Dave's last night with my husband and parents. Dad had heard good things about it, and we decided to try it. Service was glacial. The sandwiches were smooshed, lopsided, and not particularly warm -- they looked like something you'd get from McDonald's -- and they screwed up every single one of our orders. My husband had to send his burger back THREE times before they stopped putting olives on it, and the waitress kept arguing with him. They removed his order from our bill, but never really apologized for the ridiculous level of screw-ups. You'd think a manager would come by to talk to a customer who sent something back three times, but we never saw one. Oh, and for the record? His fourth burger didn't have the sauce he'd ordered on it, but at least it didn't have olives, so he just gave up and took it. Once I got my order corrected I liked it well enough -- the artichoke sauce was flavorful -- but there was too much bun to not enough meat, and I was seriously underwhelmed for the price. Also, while they were generous with the cheap ingredients (pickles) I had to go looking for the sauteed mushrooms, which were sad, shriveled, tasteless things. The "Swiss" cheese was processed velveeta crap, not actual Swiss. I expected to be asked how I wanted my meat cooked; the fact that they didn't (we all got well done burgers) tells me that they use substandard beef, as did the numerous unidentifiable cartilage lumps in the rather bland meat itself. We all agreed that we were Not Impressed, and won't be back. Burgers that are better: Red Robin's, Fuddrucker's, Cheeseburger in Paradise, that place down the street from us that keeps closing and re-opening due to health code violations.

The Midwesty chain that makes great burgers and great fries, without any of the fuss of a trendy restaurant. My wife and I have been a couple times when we just want a quality burger. The first time we ordered off the menu, but the create-a-burger option is pretty great too, and that's all we've done since. Family friendly, we've never waited, and friendly staff (though each time they haven't had enough silverware for everyone...). Worth the visit.

So, this rating is not the burger. That's important because the delicious that was the Santa Fe Chipotle Burger was pretty good. I enjoyed the delicious turkey seasoned well and with just enough Cajun spice to give it a kick. the spice of the Cajun spice and chipotle was offset by the cool fresh avocado and lettuce. Really, it was a great burger. I would highly recommend it. I hear the turkey black-bean chili was delicious too, but that's for another review. I also enjoyed how the burger came in a convenient little burger pouch...this was a big plus for my clothing which remained relatively unscathed! I was relatively pleased with that part of my meal, but that was where the enjoyment became a bit of rolling disappointment. The service at Bagger Dave's was not horrible but it was nothing to write home about. The only thing worse than an absentee waiter or waitress is the one who who is like a hovercraft from which there is no escape. As you and your significant other, business colleague or random stranger try to engage in conversation, he/she is pestering you with errant questions and ridiculous suggestions. Worse yet are the managers who pick the middle of the high point of your conversation and say, "how is everything going today..." This was fortunately, neither of those, but it was an experience where another drink could've been offered, more honey mustard for the sweet potato chips, etc.. This was a dive and drop with, and I use this word lightly, occasional fly byes. Beyond what I thought was lackluster service, the sweet potato chips were cooked very poorly. I realize that they are never going to be as crispy as a potato chip, because of the texture of the sweet potato, but they shouldn't be soggy either. They tasted great, but that preparation, even despite the delicious honey mustard or honey cinnamon, was detrimental. In the end, I felt like this was a lack luster performance. As I said to another friend, I think I would've been far less disappointed if I had carry-out! I'm going back though, because the burger was great, and there are other things I want to enjoy...like the PB, Banana, and Honey sandwich...you're in my sights...and you will be mine! Hopefully the rest of the experience isn't a let down because I won't make the same mistake a third time!

I don't know why these reviews are so poor. We ate here last week for my nephew's 13th birthday, and brought along our four-week-old baby. The food was good, inexpensive, and quick. No, it wasn't the best burger I'd ever had, but I realize that a) this is a chain, and b) it was less than $6, and for what it was, I was very pleased. Great beer selection, featuring lots of Michigan beers, which earns an extra star in my book. Most importantly, the service was wonderful-- quite possibly one of the best servers I've ever had, and I've worked in the service industry for 10+ years. I'd totally come back here again. The food was good, the beer selection was great, and the service was impeccable.

It should be noted that I've been a proponent of Bagger's since my first visit, touting them as one of the better burgers in town. I can't necessarily say that any longer but it's still pretty good. I had the day off and wanted to find something to Yelp about. I've been on this burger kick lately so I thought I'd stop at Bagger's for a burger since I saw a huge billboard in downtown Ferndale advertising their beer selection. I pulled in and jumped a stool at the bar. I ordered a Short's Local Pale beer and an American Cheeseburger with potato fries and a side of their whip ass Ranch sauce for dipping. The beer was good and my food came out really quick. Kudos there. My lackluster rating came from a few things though. Here's my gripe...All their burgers are cooked to medium no questions asked which is fine but it takes away from potential juiciness. Next, they use shredded lettuce which in my opinion should be reserved for tacos and subs. The fries were al dente and not very crispy which is a huge bummer. I like a double fried french fry, soggy is no bueno!! And lastly, their Whip Ass Ranch that I spoke of earlier-not as whip ass anymore...I think they changed it slightly. It used to have a little cayenne or paprika in it to kick up the flavor profile. It sounds like a minor thing but ranch dressing....really really good ranch is hard to come by. Sorry it's a touchy subject for me, anyways. The good... The service (at the bar at least) was great for the short time I was there!! Great food expediting too. Also, they have a number of signature burgers that are loaded with extra if that's your thing. I'd gather those burgers don't seem as dry with all the extra toppings. Worth a try the next time I'm there. The food is priced reasonably. I walked out for under $20 with tip including a craft beer...nice. Lastly, you can build your own burger allowing you to pick the type and amount of meat, the type of bun and cheese, sauce if you so desire and as many toppings as you can manage. What's nice about it is that you have a form to choose your options from so you don't get lost in the fine print of a menu. Simply check off what you want and turn it in, like a Scantron test...oh and the answer was C in case you didn't know. Bagger's is A-OK in my book but Red Coat is still #1 until I get the chance to give Miller's a current tasting. BTW, the sweet potato chips and cinnamon honey dipping sauce are still the jam like Stuart said. And they have flights of local beer which is really cool in my book.

My boyfriend and I went to Bagger Dave's for the first time this past weekend. We went on a Friday night and sat at the bar. The service was good, not sure if it was because we were the only one's at the bar, but the bartender was attentive. I decided to order the blue burger or something like that. It is basically a burger with blue cheese. I was not impressed at all. The only flavor it had was the chunks of blue cheese which wasn't even melted- it was gross. I had about 2 bites. I also ordered the fries. gross again. They weren't crispy at all and under cooked. I tried the chips that my boyfriend got and not sure what all the rave is about the chips..they were gross too.

I came here on Tuesday for dinner and was pretty happy with what I ordered. I had a veggie burger (black bean) on the honey wheat bun with pepper jack cheese, avocado, pickles, tomato, and onion. I was really happy with the way I could exercise my picky eating behavior without being scolded by the waiter. The waiter we had is also the bartender, and he was so nice and easy to deal with. The bill was pretty cheap, too. My order, which also included an iced tea, was just under $10 before tip. The pepper jack worked really well with the black beans in the burger. I didn't really eat the bun, but I nibbled at it and it wasn't bad, either. Who knew that Berkley was home to such a delicious little burger joint?

The burgers are huge!! A little expensive and the service is friendly but could use work. We were missing a few things on our order but seeing as there were only two servers, we decided to just suck it up. All in all, I'd say it's an ok place to eat.

I have eaten at this location twice and both were completely different experiences. Both times I ordered the exact same food items, so I can honestly say that this place is a hit or miss. The first time was excellent in almost every sense of the word. The burger was perfect, the sweet potato chips were excellent, the staff was attentive and my visit was so great that I returned a week later. Same time of day, same food, even the same waitress, not the same table. The second visit went as wrong as wrong could be. I waited a long time to be seated this time around, it was not anymore crowded then it was the previous visit. The waitress that I was so happy with on the last visit trudges over to the table to take our order with absolutely no cheer or happiness in her that she so openly displayed on the the previous visit. When I got my food it was completely obvious that it was wrong. I do not mean wrong as in wrong toppings, I mean wrong as in it was a salad. When I pointed out the mistake, the waitress pulled out an order pad and corrected me that I ordered a salad because it said so on my tables order sheet. I requested a manager to get my order corrected, but did not get what I was expecting. The food was right but not good. The burger was overcooked to the point of chewy, and the chips were burnt beyond reason. I again requested the manager, and left the visit with only paying for my beverage because that was the only thing that I finished. I did not see my waitress again the rest of the visit, and after our little argument, do not care where she disappeared to. I have ordered carry out from this location since but will most likely not return for the service in the dining room.

I thought about giving it only one star, but it wasn't that bad. But, it definitely wasn't good. Positives - bare, repurposed, eco-friendly decor (ex. CFL lighting). Unfortunately, not much good to say about the food. Very overpriced and very ordinary burger. Disposable serving containers with no fork. Average service at best - there weren't that many people - how long can it take to make a burger? The flavor of the fries was good - but mine were all tiny pieces. The wheat bun was crumbly and fell apart. I won't be back and I suggest you try somewhere else.

Bagger Dave's is a quick casual full-service restaurant specializing in burgers and fries. They've also got some darned good chili, thick shakes, and a modest beer list. Let's start with the burgers. They are small, 3.5 oz each in pre-cooked weight, so it is best to order the double, served on your choice of whole wheat, sesame or sourdough bun. There are enough toppings available to make the burger interesting, including six cheeses, bacon, guacamole, sautéed onions or mushrooms, and even a fried egg. My standard order is the double on wheat, with bbq sauce, cheddar, sauteed onion and bacon. It's a winner. Burgers here are always fresh (never frozen), and even though I was disappointed to learn that burgers here are cooked medium well, mine had enough flavor and moistness to make it quite enjoyable. On a couple visits, we also ordered the turkey burger, which is tasty and juicy. Burgers and toppings are all ala carte, so you can mix and match according to your preferences and budget. Prices are quite reasonable. Fries are extra, with choice of freshly cut Belgian style fries, or some crisp and tasty sweet potato chips with honey and cinnamon for dipping. Sticky? Yes. But really good. For kids (or adults), the Grilled PB, Honey and Banana Sandwich is a crowd pleaser. The other thing I like about Bagger Dave's is their commitment to the community. Living in the Royal Oak/Berkley area, I see Bagger Dave's at community events year round, with free samples and/or donated gift certificates.

Well I'm not re-inventing the wheel here.. plenty of people have reviewed Baggers Dave's already and their comments are pretty accurate. As a resident of Berkley I like to support local establishments and I may be a little biased. But when my husband and I are having trouble figuring out a place to go eat and don't feel like traveling far, Bagger Dave's is a good solution. I've never had a bad meal here and I LOVE the fries, both the sweet potato crisps and regular fries - we usually split the mix & match order where you get both kinds. We usually sit at the bar to watch whatever sports game is going on. The staff is always friendly and usually engage in casual conversation (not too much though, I hate when waiters/bartenders are overly talkative when I'm not in the mood). My favorite part of Bagger Dave's is that they carry Bell's Best Brown when it's in season. Not too many places carry Best Brown, so I appreciate those that do. They have a pretty good beer selection, but bottles only. Bagger Dave's is a good option when you're in the mood for a burger (beef, turkey and black bean patties), but they have very few non-burger items on the menu. I made the mistake of coming here for the first time and not being in the mood for a burger and for a few months I thought Bagger Dave's sucked. But I gave it another shot and was very happy.

Black bean burger sucked. Boyfriends build a burger was good. Not high quality of meat but good. The low review isn't really about the food. Service was TERRIBLE. Worst I've had in awhile. And others around me were commenting on it. Manager was playing with her hair while standing on the line waiting for a take out order. Real professional. Hop on 696 to north telegraph and go to Five Guys Burgers & Fries.

It's hit or miss with this place. I went here once on a week night and it was pretty good. Cute atmosphere, very local feel to it with a train running around the ceiling. An easy place to go, local, decent food. I went again on a Sunday, and it was not so good! Might I mention that it is half off kids night on Sundays. We waited an hour for our food. Service was slow and our server was not polite. Our order was wrong and my sister's burger had grisel in it. My black bean veggie burger was great though and the fries are really tasty! Pros: Cute atmosphere with vintage Berkley photos on walls and train that runs around ceiling Serves alcohol Great fries Great black bean burger Lots of choices for toppings Cons: SLOW service! Poor service Grisel in burger Don't go on a Sunday!

I am a regular at this place! Half of the staff now stops to ask me how I'm doing, I've talked to waitresses about their kids, etc...they're so friendly and pleasant. Not to mention the food is great. The Santa Fe Chipotle Burger is my favorite of the burgers, the turkey black-bean chili is amazing, and my new favorite dish is the tijuana salad which has the chili in it. Sooooo delicious. And they give you quite a healthy portion! My family probably frequents Bagger Dave's at least 2-3 times a month, & my 3 year old is always begging to go to the "train restaurant." To sum it up, we are big fans! :)

OK taste, pretty good fries, lots of condiment choices... what's not to like? Well, for me it's not being able to get my hamburger cooked to order. Perhaps it's my inner Lestat or maybe I'm part werewolf. Whatever the reason, I've always preferred my burgers (and steaks) rare to medium rare. As one friend observed, I prefer the burger slapped on one side, flipped, and served still mooing, albeit seasoned and seared well. It had been explained to me that the burgers they serve at Bagger Dave's cannot be served cooked less than medium in order to comply with health codes. Not knowing anything about that subject, I was willing to accept the explanation and ordered my burger medium. The burgers I have received both times I have been there, have been well-done... as in hockey puck done. As I explained before, it tasted OK but I could not really enjoy it as carbonized as it was. No amount of condiment could cover-up the dry texture. I so much wanted to really like Bagger Dave's. It was highly praised by friends who go there. I'm not saying it's bad at all, but I'm apt to look for another place to get my burger fix... perhaps a place only open during the full moon.

Bagger Dave's is a local burger joint chain that offers both customized burgers and "legendary" concoctions. It's pretty mainstream, but in the two times I've had burgers from there (once dined in, the other carry out), I really enjoyed it. The fries are great. I think the seasonings and toppings are the real stars here and not so much the ground beef (which is still decent). But they do some pretty tasty/neat stuff such as putting a fried egg on a burger. It's pretty good too! I have no complaints about the service. I think it's fairly priced for what you get as well.

I ate here about a month ago with my parents and my brother's family (seven of us all together) and three of us got quite sick afterwords. I'm not talking about "puking your guts out" type of sick, but like getting the FLU type sick. I came down with it about 2-3 days after eating here, and so did my brother and my niece. It just seemed like TOO MUCH of a coincidence that we had all eaten here a few days before getting sick. Having said that... I liked my burger and the fact that you get to choose your toppings (from quite a large selection). But, there isn't much else to the menu other than fries, chili, and some salad choices. They had some "Sweet-Potato" chips on the menu (so I had to try them), but they were EXACTLY like getting a bag of those "TERRA" chips from the supermarket. Nothing special... I might have actually considered going back sometime for another burger, but I'm a bit concerned (after all of us getting sick) about their cleaning practices at this place.

Name comes from your giant burger, served in a paper wrap that's folded into a bag shape. You'll need it. Nobody leaves hungry. This place has a full bar! This is a sleeper alert -- who would expect a burger joint to have a full bar? Extensive beer collection. Seating is comfortable -- cushioned booths and tables/chairs. Building is updated, so the interior is quaint and interesting. Parking is a limited, but not bad. They sometimes mail coupons. That's how I discovered them.

9/2014 update: I'm adding a star to this place. Its not a "fancy" place, it's not meant to be, so I'm rating it for what it is, a sort of custom burger sorta sports bar. The extra star is because they now have grilled chicken as well! And they let you customize it any way you like just like the regular burger. They added another salad or two I believe, and they also have gotten their sizes down on the mac and cheese, and it's really good now and a fair deal. Also recommend anything with that turkey chili on it. I'm not really big on burgers but was going for the turkey chili fries, but now I'll likely be there more. Original 2/2012 review This is a pretty nice place with some good some so so and nothing really bad. Pros: I like the decor and most of the seating is all nice wood booths. When I've gone in the staff has always been quite friendly. The burgers are good..though having tasted a bit of the meat by itself I'd say it's not the burger that makes it good but all the choices in toppings and sauces. Still it's pretty decent. The fries are *great* with or without chili. They have drinks. Also..if you want to go somewhere you can watch the game, but your dinner date doesn'tt want to go to a "sports bar" this would be a good choice. It doesn't *feel* like a bar, even though there are always tvs on and plenty of beer. It feels more like a restaurant..maybe all the nice wood. There is also a little train that goes around that is kind of cute. The waiter was very nice and accommodating on a recent visit where my friend was being quite picky about the food. He just stayed calm and patient and tried to help her find something she'd like. Cons: Its basically a burger and fry place. Don't go in there expecting fancy or a lot of choices beyond burgers. Probably not a great place to bring your vegan gluten-free organic eating friends. Also as someone else has mentioned..they won't cook their burgers any less than I think medium...this isn't a problem for me, but for someI t is apparently a burger deal breaker. ----- Despite being in downtown ish Berkley, it's got it's own lot so parking is easy. Prices are low, though it adds up quick. Also if you get the sloppy dave fries there is way more than enough for 2 people there.

Awesome build your own burger with the option of turkey instead of beef. topping choices like fries, guacamole, sauteed mushrooms..I would recommend the Santa Fe sauce. Also build your own fries with the choice of regular or sweet potato. Similar toppings as burgers. Definitely get Daves sloppy sauce on the fries..

Bagger Dave's is a good little burger joint. I like the little cards for creating your own burger. The one I usually get I named "Ricker's Brunch" which is bacon, cheddar, a fried egg, and barbecue sauce. I also think they have pretty good chili, a descent selection of beers, and excellent ranch for the fries. The decor is cool and casual and never had any problems with service. Overall a nice place to grab lunch or dinner.

I have not had a burger and fries in months, so today I was starving and ready to eat! I ordered a cheeseburger with EXTRA EXTRA pickles. Got it back to work, took one look at it and I could tell I was not going to be eating the burger I had been envisioning all morning. I don't think they could make the patty any more thin - bland and tasteless meat. I could just barely see the remnants of a chunk of cheese on the bun, there was 1/2 of a tomato slice on it: in all seriousness it was just slapped together with no pride or concern for the consumer. Burger had no pickles on it but I did receive a tiny cup with 3 or 4 pickles in it, wow, thanks for the extra! It was cold, as were the fries......soggy and cold. I brought it back to the office, my co-worker said she has had better hamburgers at Wendy's, another girl said the last time she went there was the last time period. A guy I work with got chili and said it was cold and boring. A complete waste of my $10.00. I think I may call the place to get my money back. Don't go there, go to McDonald's or Wendy's, you probably will get a better burger. The more I think about it, the more I am feeling insulted by the whole thing. This is supposed to be a burger and fries specialty restaurant. They should find something else to specialize in because the burgers and fries aren't cutting it. I really do think I am going back to get my money back.....it was such a waste of money and time. Don't go there, go find a good bar burger somewhere.

I went back again, because I'd read some great reviews and I hadn't been there since they had just opened. (Plus, my wife was bugging me to go back and try it again). Again, I was terribly disappointed. The fries are much better than when I first went. They are not crispy fries, but they have great flavor. That's it for the positives. Service was still TERRIBLY SLOW. Burgers were terribly overcooked and dry. This is likely because they are incredibly thin. Stack two greeting cards and you have more girth than these burgers. I likely won't be back. I'll again give them a star for their fries, and I'll give them another for design of the place (if you don't have kids, though, its pretty loud, not a at all a good date place).

Overrated. Sure, the condiment selection is supreme. I do appreciate that. But all the yummy condiments in the world can't make up for mediocre meat. I always test a burger place out by getting a cheeseburger, no bells and whistles. I did that here ... and ehhhhhh. Beyond the meat being fairly tasteless, they won't cook it at medium rare. And you know what, I like my meat pretty darn near bloody. I'm also skeptical about any place that won't do a burger medium-rare--where are you getting your meat? So I tried a turkey burger. It wasn't much better. Sure, turkey burgers always have less flavor than beef burgers (ahh sacrifice), but this was exceptionally flavorless. I did pile on some more bells and whistles here, but it still couldn't make up for just a mediocre patty. I will give Bagger Daves credit for their fries, especially their sweet potato ones. I absolutely adore sweet potato fries, and they do them justice.

I wanted to love it. I really did. Sadly, I don't...I heard such good things and was super excited for my first visit...note: I will go back and try again because I feel I didn't order right... I started off with the Turkey bean chili...had high hopes that were quickly dashed. I like thick chili and this was more of a watery one, the flavor was just ok...I expected bigger chucks of turkey and bigger beans... I did go with the turkey burger and I think the meat had a good flavor to it BUT dude, seriously did NOT realize a single patty was barley enough for a 4 year old to eat...next time I will get the regular size one for sure...I did leave kind of hungry and next time I WILL try the fries and maybe up the star rating?? Pluses: choice of wheat buns, and ROMAINE lettuce...iceberg has zero nutritional value, people. Also dug the guacamole option and the free FRESH mushroom topping. There is potential when ordered right! FULL BAR is coming soon, they already have cheap wine and bottled beer...it was funny my girlfriend and I were talking about how it would be sweet if they had draft beer(she's a draft beer snob) and the waitress came by and told us she heard us talking g about how it's not a full bar...uh ok....well now we know. Doesn't really seem like the place that needs a full bar...of course I was there at like 6, I see them having the same bottle of vodka for like a year. As I said, it's OK, and I am willing to give it another shot...but as another yelper said, don't expect a 'redcoat burger'

I probably need to give this place 2.5 stars. It's not bad. It's not particularly great. If your concept of a great burger is one where you have a lot of toppings available to construct your own burger, well...then, this place is for you. I tend to ask more of the ingredients than for them to just show up. That's pretty much what happens here. It's another corporate restaurant phoning it in, because they can get away with it.

4 stars for the burger (3.5) and those chips with the honey dip (4.5) Service was rather poor. The waitress was friendly, but drink refills took forever and my order was screwed up twice.. 2 stars for that. Final score: 3 stars.

Ehhhh, yeah. Not so good. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great -- especially after having my hopes pumped up by a couple people who said Bagger Dave's was amazing. I had a burger, my boyfriend had a sloppy joe, and neither were anything special. My roommate worked there and said we really should have tried the sweet potato fries -- because they are dusted with cinnamon and sea salt -- but really, that's not a good enough reason to go back. I'm perfectly happy with a McDonald's cheeseburger or a junior cheeseburger at Wendy's. Plus, Hunter House is about 4 miles away and WAY WAY better.

Horrible, Horrible HORRIBLE! This place has the weirdest staff of any restaurant I've ever visited. The first time we visited the server with incredible large eyeglasses was over the top chirpy and seemed to be on some kind of Bagger Dave's steroid. Last night was our second and last visit. The server started out apologetic. Apparently, she had been saying *I'm sorry* to every customer all night long and she may as well start out that way with us. They were offering free macaroni & cheese, which of course we ordered, more on that later... but first my guy ordered a bowl of chili; Wendy's has better chili... it was luke warm, devoid of any spice and plain old bland. I ordered a build your own burger.. very simple two cheeses and lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles. He ordered a Great American burger. It took FOREVER to get our food. The macaroni & cheese was holding the order up... Apparently the restaurant didn't foresee that just about everyone would want to try some FREE macaroni & cheese. Meanwhile at a table next to us two guys are trying to order a Coke or Pepsi and their server is trying to explain that they make their own sodas and she loses her patience with the table and says something to the affect of *if you'll just let me explain* Several apologies later from our server and we are finally served. The fries are soggy, greasy and cold and my burger is COLD. We ask for the manager who is hiding in an office somewhere in the back. He comes out and we tell him how long it took to get our food and ask him for another order of fries, hot this time and no thanks don't bother making another burger for me, it took too, too long to get the first one. ... he asks if I would like another glass of wine. Assuming he was trying to make things right I say sure. We get our bill and we are charged for both orders of fries and the additional glass of wine. When a manager asks if you would like another glass of wine while addressing a complaint at your table, don't you think he is offering to buy said glass of wine??? We ask for Mr. Hiding in the back again and he reluctantly adjusts the bill. I would have asked for the mac & cheese be comped too because it sucked, but you can't get cheaper than free. This building will be up for lease soon....

Great burgers and even better fries. Bagger Dave's gives you the freedom to choose how you want your burger to a 'T.' You can choose everything from the kind of meat (beef or turkey burgers) to the bun. With that freedom, you might find yourself rarely choosing anything from the menu. If you're in the mood, grab a shake, they're some of the best you'll taste. The service is great, with 3 orders of burgers and fries and a shake, the whole thing came out in 10 mins. Hungry for a burger? Stop at BD's; you won't be disappointed.

agree with the other review $9 for a burger common. it's more for those that want to feel trendy then a good burger joint. yes topping are nice but these just mask the taste of the meat. which is bland no seasoning no made to order they only make it there way. Sorry I can't say much about a a place that specializes in one thing and then sucks at it! head to the Blarney Stone it's close to 11 on Woodward much better much cheaper much better burgers better selection!

Bagger Dave's is not good. Plain and simple. As a local Berkleyite (Berzerker?), I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new successful, enjoyable and delicious restaurant and draw in to our fair municipality. This isn't it. In the name of full disclosure, I'll say that I have serious trepidations of both chain restaurants and places that say "Est. 2007" plastered on the side. I went in hoping for the best but expecting the worst. The meat of Bagger Dave's menu is their burgers. They come with a number of fixin' combinations, none of which hide the fact they aren't good. The burgers aren't thick, juicy patties but rather two slider-type patties on a bun. Thin and greasy, the meat is anything but fresh and ONLY comes medium-well. When we asked the server for Medium or Medium Rare burgers, we were told they only come MW because the patties are so thin and are either "bloody as hell or burnt to a crisp." Well that's a line from Pulp Fiction, but you get the idea. Hey Dave, one thick burger does not equal many thin patties. Their bagged twice-fried french fries (where the name comes from), were anything but what I expected. We tried both sweet potato and regular kinds. Double-fried fries are usually crispier, meatier and tastier than traditional french fries. These were damp, soggy and poorly prepared. Either their methods are wrong or we were served old fries. Neither is an excuse. The service was acceptable and friendly. I'd like to see more beers available. For a "family place" I suppose it has enough but for any respectable Beers-n-Burgers joint, it's underwhelming at best. Finally, for the food quality, I think the price is ridiculious. What are essentially 2 sliders will cost you as much as 7 or 8 dollars for a burger with all the fixin's. Wha-wha-whaaaa? In short, if you are hankerin' for an impersonal, overpriced poorly made burger, go to Red Robin. Not here. One star for opening in Berkley. One star for the train.

I love interactive food and being able to "build your own burger" feels pretty interactive to me. I also appreciate the fact that they listened to their customers and added black bean burgers to the menu. I also love condiments. I have been in debates with people over whether Ranch is a food or not when I tell people that Ranch is my favorite food. All I have to say is that when I crave something to eat and it's Ranch, the carrots/pizza/salad/fries are merely a vehicle to get that Ranch into my stomach. Which leads me to my point. Bagger Dave's has good Ranch along with all the other unique condiments. Stars off for the wait staff's uniforms looking like Big Boy's and the fries I've gotten have been soggy.

Although I despise anyone who claims to be legendary on their sign (yet only there for a few years) I finally gave in and went here. I was pleasantly surprised and will come back. The turkey burger was really good and my girlfriend loved the beef burger. They have great dipping sauces and homemade soda. Give em a try.

I have eaten here probably a 15 times since they opened including several times in 2011. I have experienced a roller coaster of reactions ranging from "wow, this place is really good - I should eat here more often" to "this place is awful - no wonder I never eat here". Unfortunately, my most recent visit falls into the latter category. This place seems to tinker with some basics on its menu quite frequently - especially with something very basic: fries and chips! They make these from regular Idaho potatoes and also sweet potatoes (gag). However, they never have all 4 combinations on the menu at the same time so it gets very confusing. Sometimes you go there and they have sweet potato fries (gag) and homemade Idaho chips (called Saratoga chips - very yummy!). Other times you go there and they have sweet potato chips (gag) and Idaho fries - which they can never seem to perfect. At their best they are fine, at worst they are a soggy, salty mess. I've had similar inconsistent results with other parts of their menu. This summer I've had a couple of delicious BLT's there. Loaded with crispy bacon, fresh tomato, etc. Today I got one that barely had any bacon and was missing something that had been on the previous ones. Guacamole or avacado? Not sure if it was supposed to still be there or if they changed the darn menu again! I used to order the Michigan Meltdown - kind of a combination BLT and grilled cheese. But I got one once where the cheese was only partially melted and the bacon was not crispy and I've been too scared to order it ever since. The chili is usually consistently pretty good so I'm sure I'll be back to try it when the weather cools off more. The recent expansion with open air seating and bigger parking lot is a nice touch. The service is usually pretty good - seems improved in the last year over previous visits. I just wish the food was consistently good and didn't make me feel like I was playing a slot machine every time I sat down to eat there. If this place was not so close to home, I would not seek it out.

Good, they have a normal veggie burger. They are a very pro-Michigan restaurant. I've had better veggie burgers, and this one was good. Wish they had sprouts.

What is up with the service in this place? The bartender was running around going crazy and she only had a few tables. When she did get to us, she was short and seemed really stressed. I ordered a vodka on the rocks and it came in one of the glasses you use for beer tasting (crammed with ice) . 2 sips of vodka for6 bucks....ohhhhkay....

Bagger Dave's serves my favorite turkey burger. The turkey burgers are always so juicy and full of flavor. I build my own and you can too. Bagger Dave's also has an amazing ranch dressing and happily dip each and every one of their fries.

My family went to Bagger Dave's and brought me home a BLT. It was awful. The sandwich was dripping with either butter or oil. I could't tell. All I now was I couldn't eat it. Usually BLT's are toasted. This did not appear to be toasted. Perhaps it was grilled in butter and just not grilled enough. There was avocado on the sandwich as well. The would think the addition of avocado would have been good. But I couldn't appreciate it because the bread was soggy and wet. I was nauseated. BUT the sweet potato chips were very good. Everything was great. Sat on the covered room with the super large window - that was wonderful, especially on a hot night. I ordered the fries, a salad with ranch dressing, a cheese burger, and Mac and cheese. Just to let you know I am not greedy, I just shared everything with my friend. We enjoyed everything. The fries were not from frozen and they were served hot, the ranch dressing was an atypical ranch, the mac and cheese was creamy on the inside, crusty on the outside. Hamburget, fries and macncheese were served quickly and hot. The lobby layout is odd and quirky. The only thing I did not enjoy was when management told me I could not use my BD giftcard to tip. Stupid rule, but whatever. Other than that, I would have given them 5 stars. I will be back and get takeout to spend what is remaining on my BD giftcard -$3. Because they wouldn't let me tip with my giftcard, I will not tell anybody about this place.

Dined at Bagger Dave's yesterday. We have been here a few times. On weekends, expect a decent wait. Ordered a "Regular" Burger, which is basically Two 3.5 oz patties. They are quite small. But tasty. You can add cheese for .75 cents and you have your choice of bun. Sesame, Plain or Wheat. For Fries, you can get regular, sweet potato or a mix of both. I was super pumped for the sweet potato fries, and the waitress brings them out and they are CHIPS?? Still tasty, but not fries....Ugh. Pissed. When we were here last time, they were actually fries. I didn't ask the waitress what happened, but hopefully they just ran out. All in all, myself, wife and daughter ate a good meal for around 18 bucks total. Not bad. Some more points: 1) Has Free Wifi, which is good for business lunchers, and or iTouch browsers. 2) The model train that circles around the restaurant is loved by kids. 3) Non Smoking Facility 4) The kids cups are awesome. Practically spill proof. Added bonus. -.5 for the Sweet Potato Chips not being Fries -.5 for the flimsy patties

My co-workers were getting carry out from Bagger Dave's, and being the vegetarian that I am, saw they had a black bean burger. I could not resist! So, I get my black bean burger with guacamole (which is $1 extra) lettuce and onion on a honey wheat bun and let me just tell you.. it was awful. I barely had any guacamole on the burger, it was flimsy, the onion was cut up very poorly. I could make a better black bean burger at home using the frozen patties. Lets just say, I will not be back!

We love this place. Our boys love the train, the burgers are good & the staff is nice. Sometimes the service is slow but overall we love it and come again & again.

For a place that advertises its fare as 'gourmet burgers' the beef burgers are absolutely terrible! and I mean it, TERRIBLE! they are fried beyond recognition as beef. McDonalds burgers are more lightly cooked, and they don't cost $6. If you are going to pride yourself on a dish, at least make that dish good. I should have known when they didn't ask me how I wanted my burger cooked. On the other hand, my wife's turkey burger was good, juicy and flavorful, and the beer selection was good, but nothing on tap. The ambiance is low-rent food court - it was depressing just to be in there. If you go, stay away from the beef, or better yet, save your money and go to Big Boy - you'll get a better burger.

so disappointed! the service was unacceptably horrific. it took forever. we were there for 3 hours. the table next to us almost left. they would have left if their server or any other waitstaff would have spoken to them in the 40 minutes they waited. our food was cold, our drinks were wrong and left unfilled, our orders were wrong when they came and they waitress was unapologetic. The fries were soggy and cold. The burger was overdone and dry. The toppings were flavorless. it took another 30 minutes to pay after we left our credit cards on the table. We had 3 kids (2 babies) who were desperate for bedtime. The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because of the choo choo train which kept the toddler in our group enthralled while we waited, waited and waited.

I was very pleasantly surprised with Bagger Dave's. I recently moved to the Berkley area. I decided to be bold and try some of the restaurants in the neighborhood. Bagger Dave's service and food was excellent! I was told by my waiter I couldnt go wrong with any burger off the menu and he was absolutely correct. I definately will be visiting this burger spot again in the not so distant future!!!!

A favorite stop in Berkley. Always get great service--friendly and inviting. A bit of a wait for food but don't always need to be in a hurry. The train running near the ceiling is a bonus for kids--appreciate it's a family friendly spot. Usually go with a turkey burger with an endless variety of options for toppings. Turkey chili with onions and jalapenos is tasty too. Fries can be hit or miss--but usually decent. Looking forward to checking out the expanded seating area and thrilled they now offer beers on tap.

There is limited dining in the city of Berkley. I have been eager to try Bagger Dave's since it opened a few weeks ago. B Dave's is nestled along Coolidge Hwy, which cuts through town. A few buildings which restaurants thrived, and failed spread along this stretch of hwy. As my bf and I walked into the lobby, we couldn't help but chuckle at the miniature train that ran near the ceiling from room to room. We passed the open kitchen and were seated promptly. Two of our friends were on their way to meet us. With growling stomachs', we ordered the sweet potato fries with honey, cinnamon and sea salt. They had good flavor, but could be crispier. I had ordered the Baja Burger $6.29. (turkey burger with guacamole, iceberg lettuce and tomato) best turkey burger I've had! Then again, I have only eaten 3 or so in my life. But, it was pretty gosh darn good. Not greasy at all. =) My friend built his own burger. There was a boat load of toppings to choose from. The most unique was the fried egg topping. Who'd ever think to put that on a burger??? In the end, the four of us were satisfied. The bill came out to $30 per couple (including 2 beers per person). Not too bad. +family friendly +adequate parking +smoke free +decent selection of beer (non-draft though) +nice atmosphere

bagger dave's is pretty good food for a decent price. don't go here expecting a burger as good as the red coat's, but it won't hit your pocket book as hard either. but the fixin's are good (you check off a menu of what you want on it) and the fries are better than average. i had a cajun sauce on mine that kind of set the burger off. i would highly recommend it, it's not too spicy, but it gives the burger a little bit of a kick. the ambience is that of a joint that's one step above a fast food chain, and the food matches. they do serve alcohol *ding ding*

I'm not even a big fan of red meat but I loved this burg. Tons of topping choices but some cost extra which is wack. The fries and real potatoes and great. Salted perfectly.I would go back because of the turkey and veggie burgs I wanna try and Id also return solely based on the french fries.. I'm a huge ff guy though

The service at Bagger Dave's is so slow! It seems every time I go there the bartender/server is in the weeds even though the place is not busy. The chick who works in the bar area on Sundays is horrible. She doesn't even keep the area tidy. And, she always seems to be in the weeds even though there are only a couple tables in her area. I thought it was just her, but the last time I went, there was a dude working there and he was the same way. It is not his fault that the kitchen is slow, but it is his fault that he forgot my husband's chili. Also, there were little kids sitting at the bar. I am pretty sure that there is a law that states that you have to be at least 18 to sit at a bar. The food is not very good. Service is slow. And, the place is not kept very clean.

It's hard to go out and find a great tasting turkey burger but Bagger Daves got it in the bag! The train wrecker was lite on meat but amazing! The alcohol selection is a bit shabby but you can never go wrong with a burger and a beer. Cute little choochoo train that cruises around the restaurant a few flat screen TVs and instead of mints tootsie rolls :)

Over the last year or two burgers have become high end ticket items. I don't mind paying for a big fat burger as long as I'm full and even a bit tired from the arm to mouth workout. I'd been wanting to try this place and today I did. I'm not happy or bitter, but I felt like I'd just cheated off a C student-no stickers or smiley faces for me, just an average burger and very average fries. The food wasn't terrible and the price was reasonable, but the taste of the burger felt like Ronald McD finally hooked up with Wendy after all these years and they created a half-breed burger that I got to top myself. I was really over-serviced for a burger joint. Maybe I'm too blue collar to appreciate having to choose from what I felt were too many items to pick from or being checked on too many times. I guess I'm too used to the dive bar burger with a big plate full of condiments tossed at me to appreciated the finer middle of the road burger dining.

I like Bagger Dave's very much. I mean...I love it. My family loves it and I have no faults with the place for serving what it is they are serving which is a patty or two that is FRESH and does not make my throat close up like Wendys does because of whatever secret ingredients they put into their FRESH hamburger. For those that want a bigger burger with cheese and some pickles, go to Red Coat or Millers. I like big burgers too. I you want to get to know burger well, go to the website "Serious Eats" and click on a "Hamburger Today" and they will give you great reviews about hamburgers in New York. A wide variety of Hamburgers. I think the fact that I can put a ton of stuff on my burger...makes me very content. I ENJOY the burgers at Bagger Dave's. I have read the discontent with the people who expect a 16 ounces, medium rare burger tell me that they don't like it. If I can get EVERYTHING on my burger and have a few Bud's while doing so, I am ALL for it. The burger is FRESH. The condiments and the sauces and the ingredients are FRESH and I and my family LOVE IT because my wife can get a turkey burger and the sweet potato fries are GREAT. It's a small, nice place to go...have a few drinks and eat a burger that remains with me...(good thing) for the remainder of the evening. I LOVE this place alot and live a few blocks from it and I enjoy what they serve. I live less then two miles from Red Coat and have not been in there in over a year. I normally for the record, get the regular burger with chiplote sauce, Buttermilk ranch, pickles, romain, mustard, ketchup, fresh onions, tomato, cheddar cheese and it tastes DARN good to me! For the record again, I think the best fast food burger I have had recently because of the bun has been Sonic over in the new location in Troy. Fast Food. I've Had the Five Guys burger in Oak Park and even though the people were above grade and friendly, I thought the burger was the same as Bagger Dave's except the condiments and toppings were poor. Too much crisp iceberg lettuce and poor quality tomatoes. I enjoy Bagger Dave's. Really.

I had been to Bagger Dave's a few times before with no complaints, but recently my boyfriend & I went there for dinner and it was awful. Our waitress didn't acknowledge us for a good 5-10 minutes and the table next to us, being waited on by the same girl, were also complaining to each other how long they had been waiting for her to bring out their check. We're pretty patient, so we blew it off. The waitress finally makes her way over, takes our drink order, and comes back another 5-10 minutes later with 2 waters...forgetting my boyfriends beer. The last straw was when our food came out THIRTY minutes afterward. Our waitress nonchalantly says "Sorry about the wait. We ran out of the black bean burgers, so one of the cooks ran over to Kroger and bought some Morningstar veggie patties instead" ...Seriously? Shouldn't you have ASKED me before making me wait a half hour, then bringing me something I didn't order? Anyone who has had the black bean burger at BD's knows that a standard veggie patty fails in comparison. After this experience, I'm not really anxious to go back.
