Johnny's Grill might have received a higher rating if someone had taken the time to wait on us. We brought our car to the Belleville Cruise on Monday and decided to try out the food and drink at Johnny;s. Four of us walked in and found a table for four. Over the next several minutes (perhaps ten) wait persons walked by several times but no one stopped by our table, which was in the middle. We would have stayed if anyone had just said, your server will be with you shortly. Too bad, because it looks like a nice place to dine. We will continue to attend the car cruise, but we won't be stopping.in at Johnnys.

I really liked there service and they had some pretty good drinks. I also liked the atmosphere and all the employees were very professional. I recommend this place to everyone that want great service and good drinks.

This review is the culmination of my last 4 or 5 experiences over Johnny's in the past year. I really want to like the place, lots of TV's to watch sports, the beer selection is nice, the food has been pretty good the times I've been there but there is one major thing wrong. The waitstaff is absolutely incompetent. I'm not a needy customer by any means, I know the waitstaff has a tough job when the place is busy but when I go in there when it's not and it takes 5 minutes for a waitress to come and ask for drinks and then another 5 minutes to get the drink. There was 8 people in the entire place! Food take an extremely long time and my beer was empty for a good while before I was asked if I wanted another one. It's not like a go to this place all the time so by the time I've almost forgotten how the terrible the service is, I'll pop in for a drink and some food and then quickly remember how bad the service is. Won't be going back there anytime soon.

Had lunch today with our daughter & son-in-law -- it was so cold in there that we couldn't enjoy our food & couldn't wait to leave to get back into a warm car. It is November 25th. We asked the waitress twice to get the heat turned up but guess the manager wouldn't budge. We will never be back in the cold weather even though the food was good. Guess by offering Monday $6.00 entrees they make up the difference by NOT offering heat.

Food is great but a little over priced. The view definitely compensates for the higher prices but the staff, though friendly, very slow service (over 10 min before even ordering a drink) with multiple mistakes (ordered water - got a coke, asked for honey mustard - got ranch). We would go here much more often if the servers were better. Disappointed for the 4th time, so much potential though.

The best thing about Johnny's is the view of the lake. I only wish we had come up in our boat because the dockside service would be awesome! They have a pretty good draft beer selection, I love belgian style ales and was pleased they had several. At $6 for a tall, I was really a happy beer guzzling camper! I ordered the spinach/artichoke dip appetizer which was ok but the tortilla chips were really greasy. I wouldn't do that one again. For dinner, I ordered a reuben with fries. The fries were awesome, nice and crispy with some sort of crunchy coating. The reuben was ok, a little thin on the meat, tons of sauerkraut and the bread was too greasy from too much butter. Again, you're paying for the lake view, the beer was good and cold, the food ok. Next time I'm drinking more and eating less ;)

Everytime I try this place, either on the boat or the dock-side patio the service is ALWAYS painfully slow, possibly the slowest I've ever experienced. 30+ minutes just to get a couple drinks. I cannot say if it is any better inside. If there were another option on the lake I would not go back here. Johnny's has a monopoly on dockside service and they completely waste the opportunity presented to them. Either they are severely understaffed or they just do not care about their boating customers. Not to mention their docks are in a sad state of disrepair. What a shame.

Stopped in on a whim while taking a Saturday drive. Looked like a nice spot by the water. We were told to sit ourselves, so we chose a table and were quickly presented with menus. We made our orders and waited for the salad course. The salad was common restaurant fare, passable.. The coleslaw was better than many I have tried. The dirty plates sat on the table edge for about 20 minutes, only cleared moments before the entrees arrived. I had to ask 3 times to have a shade pulled as the setting sun was right in my eyes. The first time I asked, the employee said "ok sure" and promptly walked away without doing anything. After asking a second time, they pulled it down about 2 inches... Not even enough to stop the sun from being in my eyes... The third time they pulled it down more saying "well, the sun keeps going down... Because if the time" Um... Duh... I realize this , and obviously you did too... So why didn't you pull it down more to begin with. In fairness, the steak I had was tasty.. We tipped 20% which is standard, and i'd never tip less, but I won't be back

We live in town and try to get to Johnny's now and then. It is always crowded when we go. We've never been able to sit outside, although you can enjoy the view from almost anywhere. The food has always been good. Portions are good, not great though. The staff is alright: none of them seem happy or enthusiastic to be there. They are always on the go and it's sometimes hard to get their attention or to get your food. Hopefully the owner's read these reviews and see all the complaints about the staff, staffing levels and lack of visible management. It's an okay place to go: but the view is the best thing it has going. Would love to be able to support it more often.

Just about ready to write this place off after several years of visiting every few weeks. Tonight was the absolute worst. Apparently management or ownership is MIA. We were greeted with an apology by the server for the service "we were going to receive" with three servers working two floors of a crowded restaurant. Slow service has become the norm along with rarely seeing the same staff twice. Their Facebook page indicates we're not unique. Someone needs to get serious if they expect repeat customers.

We stopped here on an explore Michigan day (we are from Chicago!) and we wanted to check out new places that were on the water. This bar is right on the water, and if you go downstairs, there are two levels of patios overlooking the water. We just got drinks here, but the food looked good! It seems to be the best spot in town to be on the water.

Went here twice and it was two times too many. The quality was almost as good as any school cafeteria could offer but minus the reasonable price or adequate service. They could not even bother to throw a fresh salad together so perhaps cafeteria food would have been preferable. We waited way too long for food we could have microwaved ourselves. I also had the waitress dump some dressing on my shoes. But on the positive end of things the view is rather nice. So when this place goes out of business think of the investment opportunity and upgrade Belleville's culinary options. Please, someone do this...

Took the family here the food was good had a cobb salad kids had burgers my mom had fish and chips. The ambiance was awesome beautiful view of Belleville lake has a lower level where there is a dock and outside dining. I would go back the food wasnt spectacular but atmosphere good, would be great to go have drinks with friends.

The word is...slow. Slow waitress slow delivery of drinks slow return to take our food order slow delivery of food (cold undercooked fish sandwich cold fries) another ten minute wait for tartar sauce burger patty melt with wrong bread incorrect draft beer menu and to top it off changed for a side salad that was part of what was included in the meal. A ninety minute leisurely meal and not in a good way. You can tell when a locally owned pub doesn't have a hands on owner and obviously this place doesn't. The waitress kept apologizing for the delays and we felt sorry for her but after coming to this place maybe a half dozen times over the past couple of times, this was the last.

This place is in a great location with a good view of the lake, and the prices are pretty good for a restaurant/bar. I've only been here a few times. The hostess will generally say, "The patio is full," but if you insist on going down there, there's usually an open spot. I think they just say that so you'll fill up the lobby area instead of piling on the patio. Sitting upstairs isn't that great since it's hot in there, and the beaming sunset is unbearable. The servers are good and routinely come around to check on you. They don't have Budweiser on tap, but their bottles are $2. We ordered three entrees and two drinks, and our bill was $32. The burger was pretty damn good.

The WORST !!!! I would usually never even take the time to do a review ... Service was awful . Our waitress was incredibly rude the moment we walked in ,she wouldn't even give us a children's menu . We waited a while for unappetizing food such as dry nachos ! Someone in our party found a HUGE dead fly mixed into their food . We asked to see a manager and all we got was a run around and lies . After about 20 mins we were told the manager was gone and we would have to come back tomorrow for any discrepancies with the bill . We were also overcharged once reviewing the receipt .. I would not recommend this place ever to anyone , I've never experienced such poor service !!

My friends and I were looking for a nice outdoor patio to sit on and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. Since it was so beautiful outside (finally!) we thought maybe somewhere with water, a nice view. This was just the spot for that. But unfortunately, the service and the food fell short. We waited quite some time before finally getting a waitress to take our drink order. (After 3 stopped to ask if we've been helped!) And when she did come, it took a while for her to come back. Still, she was pleasant and the view and the weather was amazing. Too beautiful to let that upset us. We ordered food. I had chicken quesadillas, which the waitress was very enthusiastic about how great they were and my friend had potato skins. Well, definitely not awesome. In fact, just mediocre...At best. When we were done eating, the dishes sat at the edge of our table for a very long time until a gentleman came and apologized and took them away. But...still....not that upset, because we came for the outdoor patio with a view. I just expected a little better I guess. Not sure about visiting again. Maybe just to have a drink and watch the sunset. But nothing more. Even aside from the food being mediocre, good service is key. And they didn't have that. A shame actually. That place could be amazing.

There's a good view of the lake if you can find your way down to back deck, which can be kind of difficult. The inside staircase is in what seems like an employee only area and the outside takes you to locked doors. The pizza is great - surprisingly good for the price and what I was expecting.

Monday night specials are nice on the wallet. Sarah our waitress, was wonderful. Unfortunately, overal an unpleasant experience. After being seat and ordering a single malt scotch I received a drink that tasted like Jameson's Irish Wiskey. I asked Sarah to return it and ask for a redo, but this time without club soda. Sarah came back and told me the bartender said she was charging me for both drinks as there was no way she made an mistake. I told Sarah to tell the bartender she could kiss my $&@. Frankly, I am sorry for the statement but it had never been treated that way in any restaurant. Sarah told me she was going to get the manager involved. He came over about ten minutes latter and told me that there way no way there was a mistake and he had a camera for reason. At this point, there is no reason for further discussion on the matter as in so many words he told I was wrong (second time for this establishment to totally mishandle a customer complaint). Then my ribeye arrived medium-well instead of medium-rare with a plain potatoes instead of loaded. This was corrected and at some point Sarah told me the manager was taking one of the drinks off due to the over cooked steak. Sarah was polite and wonderful throughout the dinner. We asked he to stop by after dinner and thanked her for her service and tipped her $20 on the $56 bill. She definitely understands customer service much better then the manager or the bartender. Good luck dinning here if there are any mix ups as it is obvious the customer is NOT always right, and will be told so.

My cousin brought me here for a night out. The lake is awesome! Will be nice to see it in the summer. They had a DJ on Friday night, but at 11pm the place was pretty dead. I'm assuming it picks up a lot in the summer with the deck and all... . And once again, we have a bar/restaurant with high hopes and an identity problem... Bar food is bar food. All you bars take note: MAKE SOMETHING GOOD AND STICK WITH IT!! Case in point: I ordered a quesedilla. It was terrific! It was cheesy and chickeny and went well with my beer and screamed bar fare. My cousin opted for bacon wrapped shrimp, that in my book, were an epic fail. First off, the shrimp was frozen and you could tell the minute you chewed through the bacon that was crispy on the outside layer, while the other 6 layers are chewy and fatty. Fuckin gross. Not to mention, they had like 3 different kinds of sauce happening. Some hot sauce, then a sweet sauce and then balsamic all over that. So confusing!!! Prices are ok... I think my quesedilla was $7.99 on the apps menu and it filled me up. Cousin thought the shrimp was ok too, once she unwrapped the bacon and ate the crispy parts only. I couldn't do it... I'd have sent that shit back. /Lake view!

Food decent. Great view. Good Service. Was not impressed with the Nachos as the meat (ground beef) tasted and looked like cat food. The sliders were OK. The corned beef and cabbage was delicious. The view, service and some good food got it 4 stars. Hopefully they will season the meat(beef) and it will be of better quality.

Just visited Johnnies for the first time since moving to the area. To be honest, the wings were only OK. 10 wings for $10 for typical breaded, fatty wings is a little steep for me. They also didn't have celery so they substituted old dry carrots instead. The view of the lake is however AWESOME and the service/servers are a C- at best. The server didn't even ask me if I wanted a second beer when my beer and water glasses were empty for at least 15 mins. She just printed my check and handed it to me. Oh I almost forgot the best part. They actually offer a 10% military discount which is wonderful and very much appreciated. But after showing my military ID and getting my adjusted bill back, the server only gave me $1.00 off of a $15.00 bill instead of $1.50. No one greeted me coming through the door and no one said good bye, have a nice day or showed any sort of appreciation for my patronage. Overall Johnnies was really a disappointment. C- at best on my first visit.

This little establishment offers a decent beer menu at average prices. The food is good and you won't be leaving hungry. During the summer, this is the place to be. The atmosphere is upbeat.

Went here with friends on a Saturday night to grab drinks, not very crowded. The DJ was on point and played great music. The service was just so-so, but if I could review the pizza alone, it would get a 5 star! I had the Caprese deep dish and it was excellent!!

Went last night with two other people. It could be the slowest service I have ever had. (And they were not busy.) Even the time it took to get menus and drinks was incredibly slow. The food was so-so. My friend's vegetables were luke warm, and my potato was not hot either. However, we waited over an hour to get the food, so we did not want to send it back. I was also supposed to receive a bread basket with my meal, and did not. I doubt I would go back any time soon which is a shame since it's less than five minutes from my house. I also would not recommend anyone who wanted normal wait times or warm food to go either.

Yeah...well. The lake was pretty! My husband and I stopped in for a beer and snack. The waitress was not terrible but she was simply indifferent to us. So what. Everyone has a crappy day. We ordered our beer and decided to share some Nachos. Beer came out nice and our waitress dropped some itty bitty plates down and apologized as the dishwasher was currently being fixed. No biggie. I can share off the same plate as my husband. Here come the nachos. No forks. Just nachos :) Well...not just nachos but really bland, badly done, NINE DOLLAR nachos. They were so flavorless I wished I had gone to taco bell. We poured the side of salsa over top and then I went searching for a knife or fork to put the side of sour cream on. Nothing seemed to help. I even squeezed the jalapeños on. Bland. We paid our bill and walked acrossed the street to the Lakeview Tavern. Amazing 8 wing and fry deal for 4.99 and we had 3 beers. The wings and fries were done RIGHT! We spent twice as much at Johnny's. Sorry Johnny's your view isn't THAT nice.

I'm going to chime in here because I'm a former waiter and I know what good service is. I came to Johnny's and was offered a table within 3 seconds from walking through the door. The waitstaff here is not only affable & polite, but absolutely gorgeous. It just happened to be completely female, which to me means bonus points; so you can choose to watch either the ducks and boats float by, or the smiley waitresses, either seems good to me. Just try not to stare. It was Monday and they had some sort of customer appreciation so everything on the menu (with a few exceptions) was $6. I ordered a massive chicken fajita meal with a caesar salad and a pop all with tax for ~$10. It was awesome, especially for $6. I'd be hard pressed to find a better deal outside of the soup kitchen. The restaurant's floor was impeccably clean, all the tables were either clean and ready or occupied by patrons. My server, Elaine, was funny and completely on her game: my drink was never half empty and she knew to offer what I might want (sauces, etc) before I even needed it. She processed and returned my payment immediately. Now I'd like to also respond to someone named "Jaheed" who mentioned the waitstaff smelled like weed-- now, why exactly are you interested in how your waitstaff smells in the first place? How is what they do before or even during work any of your business anyhow? I hope you follow through and avoid this place "at all costs". Waitstaff may try but invariably cannot make everyone happy-- just do your best, and remember that attitude is everything.

Good drinks and a top notch view of the lake. You can boat up and dock which is a great option with the nearby construction issues. Happy hour Mondays thru Fridays 4-7pm $2 Draft Pints $2 well drinks 1/2 off appetizers. That alone makes it worth a whirl in my book. I had a pretzel sandwich in there with turkey that was tasty. The fries were the coated type and crispy. My husband had a whiskey BBQ burger and liked it well enough. A nice local joint. The whole place seems to be a smoking section, just a heads up.

My friends and I decided to check out Johnny's on a really nice day in June. We had a great time. We sat down on the docks right at the water and had good food and great drinks. Their menu was impressive and their prices weren't bad. I liked that you had the option to sit inside, on the covered porch or right down at the water- all providing a solid view of the lake. I was a little concerned that we wouldn't have great service from looking at some review on here but our service was fine (consider that we were there on a weekday afternoon, though). If I had to guess, I'd say the servers probably get exhausted running to all the different seating areas and maybe that is what people have experienced. I look forward to going there again- nice to have a real Michigan "up north lake" type feeling, even if its' just for a bit.

The scenery is excellent with views of the lake, the food is OK, the wait staff is less than professional. Our waitress (Michelle) brought my beer to the wrong table twice and then 20 minutes later I had my beer.

My friends live on Belleville Lake, so we ride right up to the dock, order, and eat dinner on the boat. Makes for a great summer night. Solid food and drink menu.

Best lake view around, and assuming you're not expecting the general Ann Arbor yuppies, then you'll love it. The food is solid lake bar fare. The steak sandwich is really good and pizzas look great. If you're sick of sidewalk dining, then this is the perfect option. Also, it's huge, so there is plenty of room to sit inside or out.

I stopped in after driving aimlessly one Sunday afternoon. It's been on my bookmarks and I wanted to get one checked off, so here I was. This place has the look & feel of just about every waterfront bar & grill I've ever been in. There was nothing noteworthy, and it was pretty slow given the wonderful Michigan weather (not!). Service was quick and friendly. I ordered a turkey club on a pretzel roll as I had seem in one of the reviews it got a decent recommendation (thanks Liz!). The food came out in about the right amount of time. I had subbed onion rings for fries, and it looked like it was a good choice! The sandwich itself was good, with the exception of the massive amounts of mayo I had to trowel off it. It was tasty, but nothing I can't get just about anywhere. The onion rings were really good. Big & thick with a very nice light & crispy (beer?)batter. My only complaint was there were so few of them. Overall it seemed to be a decent place if your local & don;t wan;t to venture out too far. I might try them again on an evening where things are a little more active.

I expected better from this place, if only based on location. The interior was oddly dark for an early fall Saturday lunch, though we did enjoy watching the boats on the lake. The food was okay, too, but nothing special. I enjoyed a cobb salad with chicken, which the waitress forgot, and my partner had the slider lunch. No complaints, just nothing to write home about.

I literally felt like I was taken for $50 bucks after eating here. My wife and I both ordered the Fish and Chips and were severely disappointed. Our salads were disgusting- the ranch dressing was mostly water and barely resembled ranch flavor. The fish was way over breaded and looked like it just came from the Gortons box. Fries were cold and tasteless. We also ordered drinks, the beers were served in cheap glasses and my wife somehow got plastic. Service was quick and decent but they were arguing with a large group on where to seat them and it was very distracting. This place has so much potential, I would love for it to be a hot spot in Belleville but the quality just wasn't there.

Nice little place to hang out. I went by myself and was "adopted" by the table next to me. Trivia night was fun, sports on TV, nice waitress, good beer. If you want fancy, this isn't it, but nice and comfortable.

Stopped in here last evening for their happy hour. had a good time for not much moola. The place was fairly empty and therefore not heavily staffed. We had to wait a whole 15 seconds before the hostess seated us! We picked a nice table in the corner by the window so we could see the lake in all it's winter overcastness. It was a bit chilly. I saw one gentleman with his coat and hat on, though the hat may have been there to hide some recently installed plugs. It wasn't that cold! Our waitress, who was attentive throughout the experience, immediately came and took our drink order. She and I had a different definition of "well drink", but I got something good. The price ($2) sure was nice. The thing had some kick to it, too. My SO and I got some appetizers, which were also happy houred. A nice, meal sized portion and good, to boot. All the while we were there, it never got anywhere near full, though I can imagine it might with better weater and/or a televised sporting event. The had lots of flatscreens upon which to view them. We/I shall return with better weather and maybe a game or two on the tube.

I need service . Oh yeah it took them 20 second to sit us and 20 minutes for a server to come. However... Once that was over with. Menu is good typical American food. Brother had one of their specialty salads he liked it and I was craving a burger which was good nice a juicy. I probably wont go back just because of the service and their are other places. But food it will get the job done. Devin

A really nice place for lunch. The pulled pork with fries and slaw was excellent. The service was very good.

My husband and I go here frequently as we live in Belleville. We go here year-round and enjoy the food as well as the bar. My husband always comments on how cold their beer on tap is. My favorite is on the appetizer menu which is the steak tips. It is a good sized portion and comes with pita bread. I also really like the beer-battered fish and chips! We've always had great service and enjoy the atmosphere even in the winter.

Be honest - people go to a bar for the beer and a view. Food is a bonus. This place is great for the summertime, social desires, and has a nice bar atmoshphere. The food does the job. You can walk away satisfied. Any delays in service simply are attributed to how busy the place is - but who wants to go to a bar that has no life or isn't easy on the eyes? Can't say enough about the view of the lake, dock approach, etc. Belleville doesn't have much to offer - this place is one of the few bright spots.

Gorgeous view of the lake! Nice place for a relaxing dinner. The food was good (I had the jack daniels burger, fries were yummy; my boyfriend had fish - don't remember what kind - he said it was good). Also the waitstaff is really nice. There is a jukebox there which can get kind of loud when you're sitting next to it, but the staff is more than willing to turn it down if you ask. :)

View was wonderful, drinks were over priced, food was great, waitress was awful. Menu was diverse, waitress failed to tell us of a special, had zero knowledge of what was in the drinks or anything about the entrees. While several in my party stated they would return I would have to think more than once about that.
