This store is a replica of a farmhouse and is amazing. Very clean and organized. The Cafe is worth a visit ,great food and nice atmosphere. It can get busy here! The Cafe is one of kind and make you feel like you are somewhere else and not right off right 1. Has a true vacation feel about it. A Must Visit. The products are pricey but worth it for the quality.

Really wanted to give 4 1/2 stars. We attended a demonstration cooking class while on vacation. The emphasis was not on portion size and could have been slightly bigger for the price, but it was still an interesting experience, informative and well-done.

Coming to this area from culinary nirvana (San Francisco Bay Area), we've kept our eyes and noses open for culinary delights that we could not get in our old home town. Stonewall fits the bill. We've purchased (and tasted) numerous Stonewall products. They came in handy for this past Christmas. I particularly like their Holiday Jam and their Wild Blueberry Jam. Additionally, their marmalade are unusual (and quite good). I died and went to heaven with their chocolate peanut butter sauce. The feature of Stonewall that take the proverbial cake is their cafe at the Stonewall mother ship in York. I've eaten there twice and enjoyed it immensely. My partner is a connoisseur of grilled cheese sandwiches and he declared that their grilled three cheese sandwich with artichoke pesto is the best in the Universe. I enjoyed their unique take on chicken pot pie. Their coffee is goo, too, as are their desserts. This place reminded use of some of the small cafes we enjoyed in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. We look forward to sharing this place with our friends and family from the West Coast.

The products here are all delicious and I love trying out all the samples. I would drive here just to pick up some more of their ketchup. DO try their meatloaf recipe which includes said ketchup and their farm relish. I served it up at a dinner party and there was not a speck of meatloaf left! Otherwise, the jams are yummy as well as the marinade sauces. I had the mango curry one and the chicken was divine! I haven't had a chance to venture to the cafe yet and try anything, but it always smells soooo good! I think I got my fiance hooked on this place too. He was trying samples left and right too, and added his own favorites to my shopping basket. My only complaint is about the ignorant customers who don't use the tongs to pick up the sample pretzels or crackers. Ewwww.

Stonewall Kitchen's cooking "school" is a beautiful, state of the art kitchen perfect for demonstration cooking classes. There are two classes every day from Wednesday-Sunday, ranging in price from $35-50, incredibly reasonable given the instruction and food quality (many local, organic ingredients are used). I took a vegetarian cooking class and enjoyed the instructor, loved the food, and was so happy to take home four new recipes to prepare for me and my friends. We already signed up for another class in February that's all about soups! I love the TVs for people sitting in the back who can't quite see the chopping/cutting/stirring, and when class isn't "in session" the TVs are tuned on to the Food Network! The shop has literally every relish, jam, mustard, sauce, cheese straw, bean dip, and cookie/brownie/cupcake/cake mix ever invented, except they are unique yet complimentary flavors. Pineapple ginger sauce? Apricot amaretto jam? Purchased both. Even better, every dip is available to sample and there are recipe cards for every item so you know what to make with them! Stonewall Kitchen is well worth the trip and I can't wait to go back! I look forward to trying out their cafe!

Great for buying gifts, Stonewall is a "Must-See" when visiting the York area. Whenever friends from out of town come to visit, I take them to Stonewall and give them a tour. I love the style, the taste and the smells.

What a wonderful place! I decided to take a ride there the other day, all by myself, and I'm glad that I did! It was my first time there and when you walk in the place, you don't know where to look first, there are so many different products! They have samples of most everything that they sell, which is fantastic! I bought several products: Wild Maine Blueberry Jam - delicious! Mimosa Jam - so different and very, very good! Whoopie Pie Baking Mix - OUT OF THIS WORLD! Made these the same day, and they beat any bakery, I'll tell you that! :) YUM! Italian Dipping Oil - DELICIOUS with fresh Italian bread! Farmhouse Pancake and Waffle Mix - haven't tried them yet, but I heard they were delicious! Sugar Grahams - Very good! Snacked on these on the way home! I HIGHLY recommend all of the products that I bought! The only downfall is that the prices are kind of high, but that's ok! They're worth it, in my opinion! I will certainly be going back there very soon!

Great place to get recipes and ingredients to make some really delicious meals. The cafe was great as well. Lobster rolls and the clam chowder were really nice and perfect for lunch. They have a really good ginger beer.

Ate at their in-house restaurant. I had the roast beef sandwich on a gluten free roll. The beef was lean and tasty. The roll was horrible as it was dry, had no taste, and fell apart as I ate the sandwich. Ended up just eating the beef. I found them very expensive for a self-serve place and they tried to jam in too many tables so you can barely squeeze in and are right next to your neighbors. Other customers seem very rude, but that is not Stonewall's fault.

Couldn't wait to visit since my sis & i drove by on the way to York Beach. We did some sampling & got some recipes. Picked up a few items - Farmhouse Pancake Mix. I have to agree a bit pricey & wouldn't spend alot in there just a few items that was all. The outside is ABSOLUTELY beautiful & the inside is so clean & sparkly.

All foodies know this brand. The York flagship property is a beautiful place, definitely worth a visit if you're nearby. Lots of free samples, a cafe, cooking school, nice grounds where you can wander or rest. Everything is so nicely packaged. They sell a lot of products at this store that I've never seen before. A great place to buy gifts.

We came here to shop, had a great time with all the free samples. We loved the Red Pepper Farmhouse relish amongst many others. Had lunch outside, which was much quieter. We shared the lobster tacos which were excellent. Yes a little pricey but well worth it! Wish we had a place like this where we live!

I give the company store about 4.5 stars - it's well organized and airy, with wide enough aisles that it seems like there would be plenty of room to maneuver even on tourist-laden weekend days. I went on a random weekday morning, and it was very peaceful, with just a few other shoppers. I like the free recipe idea cards, and I did dip into a few samples. I came home with sun-dried tomato pesto that will become a creamy pasta sauce, and super-rich balsamic fig dressing that the salesperson suggested having over a salad with roasted pears and goat cheese, which sounds delicious. I give the bakery/kitchen 2.5-ish stars, at least for their breakfast offerings. There was a new person working without much oversight, and she didn't even know what the foods were - we asked for a 72-layer biscuit, which is probably one of those things they're known for, and she asked 'is it this one? is it this one?' - really. Before you let someone work with customers, they should at least be familiar with what they're selling. It gave us a less-than-professional vibe from the beginning (although she was very enthusiastic in her lack of knowledge). The biscuit was pretty boring, heavy, and ridiculously priced at $2.25. It may have been better if warmed, but that option wasn't given to us. The biscuit sandwich (different kind of biscuit) wasn't warmed properly, so the egg was still cold. The mocha had about 2" of unmixed chocolate syrup on the bottom. This confluence of not-good details was disappointing. The scone and coffeecake were rich and moist, though, and the flowers on the table were fresh and festive, so it had that going for it. But, for a place where you order at a counter and bus your own table, the prices were touristy and not worth it.

So I told myself that I wouldn't sample anything because I knew that if I did, I would have to sample everything. But that didn't work. I ended up sampling everything! OMG this stuff is amazing. Between the mustards and dessert toppings and jellies, I loved every single thing I tried! I ended up buying the Spiced Rum Butterscotch Sauce and the Hot Red Pepper Jelly. The prices are a bit steep for my broke ass but I had to splurge. The staff is really nice too and made samples for us of products that weren't open yet.

pricy but lots of fun and you figure you kind of owe them for all the chocolate sauce you sampled!

I live in California. I eat with my hands. and I'm a big fan of Stonewall Kitchen. Right now I'm eating a (Peach Pomegranate Jam) atop a stonemilled wheat cracker [w/ whipped butter or melted Mozzarella].

  • Jim S.

The Farmhouse Pancake/Waffle mix is AMAZING!!! As with all the Stonewall Kitchen food products, this is truly a top shelf mix. It costs more than other mixes, and you may be tempted to save it just for special occasions - but go ahead an spoil yourself. YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shannon N.

I was so excited when we stumbled upon this place. I've long been a fan of their tasty jellies and jams. We stopped there and sampled plenty. Yum. They have a little cafe, so we each had a half sandwich and clam chowder - roast beef for me and ham & cheese for my husband. Definitely worth a visit ;)

As a culinarily inclined person, I was taken here by someone who knew I would appreciate it, and I definitely did! Besides the cornucopia of jam samples, there were dips, salad dressings, marinades, chocolate sauces, and every other liquid/gel form of food you could imagine. Sampling was fun and I didn't spy anyone using their fingers. (Thank god.) The cafe was quite overpriced so we just got a hot chocolate and a cappucino for the road back to Boston, but now that I've read the reviews, I'm a little sad we missed the food. We left laden with bags of jams, dressings, dip mix, and this decadent Caramel Apple Butter which is perfect to spread over a freshly baked challah. Mmm. Because of our purchases, we also got a free mini jar of the Peach Bellini Jam. If you know me, you know I love a good bellini, especially one that's free!

Roasted Garlic and Onion Jam. One star for each word! This pairs perfectly with toast, or even just a spoon. LIKES!

We visited here while driving through Maine. Such a cute store with a great variety of foods (ie: jams, baking mixes, drink mixers, etc). I'm not much of a cook and I still enjoyed shopping here.

Spent a few summers in York due to the fact my aunt and uncle live here. We always go to Stonewall Kitchen: I do believe they have the best selection of homemade jam. Wonderful place for the kitchen enthusiast but a bit over priced.

    (4)
  • Jessica L.

I love their salad dressings and jams, but this place makes me crazy. Maybe it's my germ phobia, but I can't stand watching people flock to the open jars of jam, dressings, mustards, and dessert toppings and put their fingers all over everything and double-dip their crackers. Yuck. As for the cafe, it's waaaayyyy overpriced. I really wanted the Lobster BLT, but for $25???!?!?! I ended up with an orzo salad that was okay, but at least priced appropriately for lunch. I'm telling you, if you go in here, be prepared to leave with some rare disease....too many fingers in the jam.

  • Janie W.

I love visiting Stonewall Kitchen in a certain order. First stroll into the cafe and get a bite to eat. It's usually quite good, not dazzlingly tasty, but solidly tasty. Then work off your meal by ambling through looking at jams and other home stuffs. My favorite is the fig ginger jam.

    (4)
  • Alex G.

The restaurant side is worth a visit if you are in the area. Salads, soups, sandwiches - all with that fresh, healthy edge. I had a salad with chicken salad - tasty and chunky; my wife had a mozzarella and tomato sandwich, with a hot and rich minestrone. It's an "order at the counter" place, but really fresh and tasty. I would absolutely go back.

  • Kerri O.

I'm not the type of person who goes to this sort of place, usually. I mean, I like their grilling sauces, but it's too crowded for my liking. I get antsy. I'm posting this because according to my sweetie, they serve the best clam chowder in the whole world. Bar none. Also, try the Maple Chipotle grilling sauce. Way tasty.

    (5)
  • Gigi S.

Beware the Stonewall Kitchen "Bittersweet Chocolate Sauce" - It is not bittersweet!! It's mostly just "sweet" and doesn't taste all that chocolatey either. I should have read the label first! The first ingredient is corn syrup, the second is pure cane sugar, and the third is water.

    (2)
  • Rebecca Y.

It really is about the free samples. Yum. You can get their products many other places, but the main store is fun to sample in and look around. They really do have everything you can think of. There is a little cafe but I haven't had a chance to eat their yet. Perhaps on the next trip! If you are visiting Kittery, take the drive North on Route 1 a little further up. You will be glad you did.

Who says Maine can't be gourmet? If its bottled they make it. LOL from mustards to dipping sauces, dressings, jams and jellies, even pretzels and kitchen goodies its here. High quality and price but never disappointing.

Though I would never set foot in a Stonewall Kitchen shop in a mall, I love this flagship store. There are samples galore, products for miles, and a cafe with wonderful sandwiches that use many of Stonewall's condiments. For folks driving to northern Maine, this is a great lunch stop - and the perfect place to pick up some gifts for your hosts.

  • Kat R.

I really like visiting here! As long as you don't watch the crowd eat over open sample jars, it's a painless... and enjoyable experience. Now that I know what I like, I usually avoid the free samples, just cause there's too many people dipping into those things... freaks me out. My #1 favorite is what I call my "crack jam"... It's real name is something like raspberry peach champagne or something long like that. Very Very delicious! On my latest visit, I ate lunch in the cafe and they had SUPER yummy sweet potato fries! CRISPY!!! yyyuuuuuummm... If you're in the area, I highly recommend a visit. And if you're not freaked out by germs, go hungry!

    (4)
  • Andrea C.

FREE SAMPLES! haha oh goodness i could have a full meal there from the free samples scattered about the store. They usually have waffles or something really good on the right side where the little kitchen is. The cafe is expensive but looks worth it. They have all kinds of sandwiches and cookies and pasta and so on. Sure, you can get them from a catalogue but this is the place for all your kitchen needs whether it be food or gadgets, maybe a cookbook or two.

Stonewall teas & jams = SO GOOD. This place is cute with a country store flair and yes, TONS of free samples. You could probably make a free lunch out of it, if you are content with lots of little crackers, pretzel sticks, & jams galore.. just in case you aren't content with that there is a cafe that serves up lunch stuff & lots of bakery items too. I got blood orange marmalade on sale for only $2.50 and I am excited to try it, for such a great price you can't go wrong! It's right on your way to/from York Beach from the highway, make the stop!

This was a fun place to visit, a wonderful daytrip for the two of us. On a Saturday, I told the lady that we were simply going to go on a daytrip. What I had arranged was for us to go to one of Stonewall Kitchen's skills classes starting at 11, then shopping at the little general store along Route 1 until a reservation at Arrows at 6 pm. We had a very quirky class on Italian cooking that I expect was definitely not the norm. It was not very informative, but I take that it was an exception, but it was *very* entertaining. We learned to make a wonderful citrus mussel salad and a refresher on some basic Italian cooking. The kitchen was immaculate and easy to see the preparation. The three large flatscreens for the cameras in the room helped. They demonstrated cooking at a basic family portion level while dishing out an example of a portion for everyone to try. I bought a nice Chef'n citrus strainer that I liked the design of as well as a tiny skimming spoon for my stocks. She picked up a variety of sauces. In her opinion, very few of the sauces actually tasted like what you would expect from the label... except for the cranberry horseradish sauce. The sauces were all... good... but they tasted like "jam" and "mustard" with a few exceptions. We both felt that the Mimosa Jam felt like a less intense Orange Marmalade. She's also a huge Paddington fan, but that's beside the point. It was packed that day, but the ever-changing selection at Stonewall is nice. The food is good, but it just makes me want to... do it myself more. However, when Arrows opens again in the spring, we would like to go down to the cooking school again and take another class... followed by another trip to Arrows. That... was a good autumn day.

Has anyone mentioned the samples? Oh, the samples! From one end of the store to the other, nothing but chrackers and pretzels and a million tasty little jars of stuff to dip them in. Fun to poke around the store, though I am much more likely to buy a non-food item. The cafe has some OK food, but I found the prices to be way high - lunch for 2 of us was $30, and IIRC that was 2 sandwiches, chips and drinks. They have a tour but I haven't done it yet

This place is like a biosphere of condiment creationism. The business started with 2 guys selling jellies & jams at farmer's markets and has mushroomed into an enterprise that has done for spreadibles what the computer did for spreadsheets (Hey! I'm writing here). It's 10:30 AM and we're on the way to the Ogunquit beach; where to stop for sandwiches? That morning, in Revere MA, I had channeled my inner sandwich child who told me he wanted turkey with cranberry, mayo & lettuce but then started to sulk because he didn't think it would show up in his day. His recollections of sandwich procurement in Ogunquit's zooish downtown sent a chill to his core. Lo and behold, Stonewall's cafe had a item called the 'Pilgrim' which had everything he had envisioned, plus, an apple stuffing and, as a $7.95 roll-up, was even better than he had imagined (and easy to eat on the beach). They also have many other sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads and sweets not to mention the opportunity to sample all sorts of condiments.

Fun place to visit and shop - though the prices are the same as you'd find at any store that carries Stonewall Kitchen. People were flocking to the samples right around lunch time - kind of funny. We ate lunch on the little patio there. My wife had the lobster BLT - yummm. I had the pilgrim sandwich and we shared some pretty awesome sweet potato fries. They have really good coffee too - we had to grab another cup as we were hitting the road.

Great sandwiches! I had the lobster BLT Filled with lobster, with hand made potato chips very filling There were too many mouth watering choices so I'll return soon This is a beautiful place inside and out !

I absolutely love Stonewall Kitchen! My wife and I have been to the flagship store on many of occasions, and we are never disappointed. We have even attended there cooking school which was fun. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is price at the cafe. My wife and I had lunch today at the cafe. We each had a entree, a drink, and we shared a salad which totaled $58! Like I previously stated everything else is great at Stonewall Kitchen, just be prepared for the heavy price tag at the cafe, and that is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

This is a specialty food shoppe that carries just about any unusual food item you may be looking for. I found out about them because of a shop in Pacific Beach that sells quite a few of their products. I love their maple bacon onion jam on hamburgers! Delish! Maple plus bacon plus onions, all made into a jam? Brilliant! Take a look at their website and I'm sure you'll agree -- THIS is 'foodie' heaven. TIP: I get my maple bacon onion jam, and many more of Stonewall Kitchen's products at Great News Cookware, which is located in Pacific Beach, CA. You will find tons of Stonewall Kitchen's items there. The next time I'm in Great News, I'm going to pick up some of Stonewall Kitchen's boxed scone mix, for the times I don't feel like fussing too much, making scones from scratch.

Very friendly staff. They handle a wide variety of food items and accessories. Their store features samples of jams, spreads, dips, etc. They also have a restaurant which features foodie type items for lunch and snack. They are a bit pricey. In their main office area, they also have cooking classes. Excellent facility and appears to be a fun place to work.

Tonight we had our second cooking class with Chris Toy. Home made wonton soup, spring rolls, pot stickers and dessert wontons. Entertaining and delicious meal. He makes learning the recipes easy. Our first class last fall we learned to make dim sum Chinese appetizers. After you make them yourself you will be spoiled. Will go back again for another class with him. The jams in the store are always wonderful. Pricey as others report but you don't find blueberry or raspberry flavor like that in those other brands of cheaper products. Use their jam to make thumbprint butter cookies. Friends will rave at the flavor. I use many of the marinades as salad dressing instead. We have loved their products for many years.

Do you like food? OF COURSE YOU DO, otherwise you wouldn't be at Stonewall Kitchen. Coming to the flagship store like this is like a moth to a flame for us foodies.... so be prepared for quotes like: 1. "Have you ever tried the lemon curd? You should. I'm single and I live alone, and I have to tell you one of my favorite things to eat is a scone with some lemon curd on it and a cup of a tea" (from a lovely older woman on staff that had the most darling Maine accent I've heard in a while). 2. And, on the contrary: "Can't people in this day and age just use a spoon to spread stuff? Why do we need some fancy contraption like that?" (a bitter husband who just didn't "get" what his wife was buying). 3. Oh, and: "That's pretty good stuff, eh? Go ahead, eat up!" (from an elderly gentleman who found me at the salsa and proceeded to shove more food at me like this was his personal kitchen and I was his underfed guest). Things to know... The Store: - It can be insanely busy. Be prepared to wait and/or elbow your way into samples. - It's kind of expensive, but... + There are a lot of samples. + There are A LOT of samples. + No, I mean really, THERE ARE A WHOLE LOT OF SAMPLES. + And the staff really wants you to try them (don't be shy, folks! Stonewall wants you to love what you're buying, so if you want to sample something that isn't open - within reason, of course [i.e. don't expect them to make you pancakes] - feel free to ask them). The Cafe: - It can be insanely busy. Be prepared to wait and/or elbow your way into line. + They make one of the best red eyes I've ever had (AND they have soy milk!). When I ordered the young woman at the counter smiled like I had said some magic phrase (I'm guessing their general clientele - the median age of which seemed 50+ - doesn't order these frequently). "Just a second, I'm gonna make it for you myself," she said abandoning her post from the cash register for a few minutes to make my drink. She then found me where I was milling about (read: sampling more) to personally deliver it. + They have homemade biscuits and jam on their menu. OF COURSE THEY DO. Why wouldn't they? I think this is pretty fantastic (especially at just $3.50) and a GENIUS way to feature their products. +/- The Caprese Sandwich was $9 and kind of small. Delicious and flavorful and probably one of the best caprese sandwiches you're ever gonna eat... but expensive for a small portion. + You can buy beer and sit outside and hang out! This should absolutely be considered a destination spot for lovers of all-things-culinary. Maybe I'll see you there? I'll be the girl eating all the samples.

A nice stop, in this lovely well designed shop. Much better than I ever expected, this Stonewall Kitchen factory shop offers the very best in specialty food selections, high in quality and offered in a relaxed retail environment.Even with the high tourist traffic, the management handles the large crowds well. Well worth the time here to linger a while. Take a moment to visit the gardens

One can find Stonewall Kitchen foods pretty easily in any supermarket or specialty food store, but it's a great experience to visit their flagship location in Maine. During my most recent trip to Maine I got the chance. The location of the store is prime; situated among a number of summer destination towns in Maine - this place can get pretty crowded during peak season. The store is large, well stocked, and has pretty much every kind of product Stonewall Kitchen makes. A huge bonus of visiting is the array of free samples they have. Be sure to visit with an empty stomach, because virtually everywhere in the store you'll find samples of their jams, spreads, sauces, and marinades. There is also a small cafe in the store where you can get quick-service items, and they also have a nice outdoors area to relax and take in the atmosphere. Even if you're not looking for anything specific it's a great experience to just visit the store, and you probably will end up getting a thing or two - definitely worth the visit.

I'm giving this place 5 stars for the overall store and the samples they have set up for you to be able to try all their delicious jams and sauces. The sandwich I ate at the cafe (curry chicken salad with mango chutney) would be 4 stars - it needed more of the chicken salad on the sandwich. I ordered the gluten-free bread for it, and while it's great they have that option for people like me, there was a lot of crumbly bread. It was great that they offered tortilla chips to sample their salsas - I used those for all the samples in the store. Looking forward to trying the GF scone mix and jams we bought!

Great place to visit. Wonderful soaps, sauces, jams, jellies, etc. lots of samples. Kinda pricy, but really good stuff. Awesome gardens near the entrance! Cafe. Cooking school. Great place to visit, but aim for weekdays to avoid a maddening crowd. Also, be careful with the red sauces. They can cause mayhem on a white t-shirt... So I hear...

I think this is where foodies go to heaven. You can taste almost every item that the catalog sells. The place is bright and shiny and I dare you to leave without buying something you didn't know existed. It's fun. I do think the lunch place is limited and overpriced. But I love going through the store. Easy on/off 95 for a bathroom break.

They make good salads and baked goods here. I haven't had a chance to sample much of the food, but I will say that the salads are huge and tasty. You will not leave hungry! They have a great selection of drinks and sides as well. They also have a ton more to offer, on top of the food .

I tried the chocolate layer cake in the cafe today. It was as good as any chocolate cake I have ever had. The cake was great, the frosting was great, and the chocolate chips on the top and sides were great.

I love going to the store, there are so many wonderful items to discover. The downside and reason for the 3 stars is the cafe. I have always avoided the cafe because I was not impressed the last time I ate there, I had their lobster salad sandwich, lobster rolls are a lot better in other eateries. I was invited to lunch there the other day, and I didn't want to make a fuss, so I thought I'd make do with a salad. I ordered the Solstice salad. I asked that they exclude the blue cheese, and asked for an alternate roll because the one that is served with the salad has cheese on it. Not really asking for much. The person barked that she has to charge me extra for a regular roll, fine. My salad arrived without the roll, I had to stand at the counter and wait to get what I had asked and paid extra for. Didn't finish the roll because it had a distinct aroma of bacon grease. The salad was a disaster. It was a cup of candied pecans with another cup of sweetened dried cranberries, with a sprinkling of greens. Oh there were figs in there too. The cook used as much care in preparing my salad as they did with their last job at McDonalds. Food at the cafe is not cheap, so one would expect a level of pride. I guess I'll just stick to shopping and eating elsewhere.

We had a disappointing lunch there today. The beet salad looked large but was predominately made up of salad greens (only) and the tomato/motzarella sandwich was small in size with little cheese and a grocery bought/waxed tomato - all this for over $20! Very disappointing.

The whole evening was over sold. Our chef read a recipe, never cooked, did cut one mushroom and was totally unprepared. The food, cooked by the staff, was mediocre and came to the table cold. Maybe we just had a bad night, but we paid $60/person for that bad night and I can't recommend anyone else chance wasting their hard earned money on this place. Kitchens trinkets, sold 10% discount completely overpriced.

A wonderful experience, as well amazing food!!!! So nice to see this local business grow and become a must stop place when in Down East Maine. Jonathan and Jimmy have done wonders, although the Maine Wild Blueberry Jam will always be my favorite!!! I'm very inspired to try some of these incredible sauces in my own creations. I can't wait for my next trip out east.

Great place to have coffee, walk around and taste all the delicious jams, etc. Is VERY expensive and I feel overpriced on the items they sell. The products are good but I find similar products in Homegoods, Marshalls and TJ Maxx for a fraction of the price and quality the same or better. May stop again next time I'm in the area just to eat my way through the store!

As I'm temporarily working in Maine, I was looking for something to do to occupy my Saturday afternoon and stumbled across the Stonewall Kitchen Cooking classes online. I decided to take a lobster pot pie (it is Maine after all!) class and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the establishment and the food. It appears they only do demonstration classes (I'm a fan of participation classes, but I was taking what I could get at that point), but the room was well layed out with large flat screen TVs for close ups if you were sitting further in the back. The instructor was knowledgeable, but a tad dry, but her classroom helpers had plenty of personality and made it entertaining. The food was really the stand out. I did not expect the portions and quality I received. The salad starter was fantastic with kumquats, beets, and bacon. The lobster pot pie was delicious and they didn't skimp on the lobster one bit! Finally the panna cotta to finish was divine (well, now they could have given a little more in the serving there...but maybe that was just me b/c I scraped the bowl clean). I'm a pretty picky diner and tend to have high expectations, so this lunch made my day. Now the store...I wandered through for a few minutes, but I wasn't too wild about it. You couldn't pay me to sample any of those open containers (so much people traffic and people are disgusting when it comes to samples...blech!). It also had solid tourist traffic, and the jams, snacks and what-not are too expensive and full of additives for me. While I wouldn't buy hot fudge sauce there for the most part...I would recommend you take a class, it was an enjoyable experience.

Love the jams, especially the Maine blueberry and the strawberry. They aren't too sweet and are wonderful!

Went to a cooking demonstration class. It was fabulous! Find a menu you like and book it! Service from all the staff members could not have been any better! Kudos! Tip: don't eat breakfast or lunch before your class or graze in the store or cafe. This is not a tasting but a full meal. A really good amount of food that leaves you very full!

Unfortunately our visit here was only for a brief look around before returning home from our getaway weekend. Just stepping foot into the large showroom was a foodie's paradise. With gadgets and trinkets to help the amateur cook's work around the kitchen a little bit easier. Although greatly overpriced it was good to see what was available out there. I was impressed with the number of samples that were available of different types of sauces and jams. My children impressed with the stickers the attendants had in their pockets to quiet the kids desires to touch everything. The stonewall kitchen was noticeably busier than every other place that we visited in York, ME. Admittedly I had a good time just browsing before my children grew restless and wanted once again to touch everything, that was the cue to tell me my time was up... on to our next adventures.

Lobster BLT....now that's the dog bollocks! We found this place more by luck than research and really enjoyed our lunch. The lobster BLT wasn't cheap but it delivered lots of freshness and taste and hit the spot. The cafe location next to the shop and factory tour is good and the cleanliness standards including the toilets was high. Good coffee and a good atmosphere and many Stonewall products tempting you just a few steps away.

I judge a store not only by the quality of it's products but also how they handle a complaint .On the latter they fail miserably.Stonewall Kitchen's main product is Jams and they have a dept in some markets .Recently I got a coupon to try any jam with $3 off .I love tasty jams ,and so I bought the strawberry jam.Now Stonewall is not cheap ,in fact you can get most jams including imported ones for $2 or $3 less , yes they get close to $7 for a 12 oz jam .I found the strawberry jam quite good ,and so went back and bought my second favorite jam strawberry rhubarb .What a disappointment ,it tasted like cinnamon ugh ,I hate cinnamon .I have had strawberry rhubarb many times ,the rhubarb gives it a little tang to it .I wrote to Stonewall and got an email back thanking me for choosing Stonewall ,they took note about the cinnamon taste and admitted they were changing the formula by taking the apple out of this jam.And hoped I would continue enjoying Stonewall jams . So they admitted that there was something wrong with their jam and were fixing it ,and here is what tells me everything I want to know about this company .Almost every company in America would send you a coupon to buy another flavor ,NOT Stonewall.Hey we are sorry ,we understand there is something wrong with our jam ,we hope the next time you buy our product our cinnamon flavor is gone .Stonewall you had an enthusiastic buyer ,I pass your store many times and you think by telling me to keep buying your product in the hope you finally get it right ,nooo .I'll keep passing your store ,you have no concept of what public relations is about .You may have decent products but so does dozens of other companies and what could have been you gaining a new loyal customer ,you lost me and my family for life .I would remove your strawberry rhubarb you haven't learned how to make it properly yet or you can't find rhubarb . 3/22/2014 Update Stonewall sent me their new version of strawberry/rhubarb .After tasting it I concluded that the cinnamon was gone but the taste had not improved ,maybe Stonewall had not figured out the right proportion of ingedients .The taste of this jam is dismal .I have bought strawberry/rhubarb from many places ,this one is a flop .Stonewall you are a one trick pony ,stick with strawberry .

This place is a favorite! Wonderful stop on the way to or from Maine, right off the interstate. Beautiful store with lots of products to sample, and delicious food at the cafe. Love the beet salad especially - huge, delicious, and seemingly organic, with many Stonewall Kitchen salad dressing options. Great for all ages, with seating indoors or out.

four stars for product, one start for customer service. In a word, Stonewall customer care sucks. Why? I called at 3 pm (pacific) to ask if they could replace a jar of Sour Cherry jam that had only one cherry in it. The person who answered said that I should call back during business hours. When I asked why she answered, she said that she only took orders, that she didn't handle customer service. Well, you got that right! First, I guess the west coast market doesn't count. Second, isn't everyone at any company supposed to be a customer service rep? Obviously, there's a difference in the way Stonewall Kitchen values order givers and a consumer with a legitimate problem with their product. Upshot? As they say, each person who is happy with a vendor tells three people; each person who is unhappy with a vendor tells ten people. I'm working on my second ten. And I will never buy another Stonewall product again. Just call this complaint a case of sour cherries.

I come to the SK cafe about once or twice a year, when I'm visiting my grandmother who lives in town. It's a tradition, so we always visit for lunch. However, unfortunately that tradition will be ending. The food at the cafe is indeed, as one person mentioned, no better than an airport. This time around, I ordered the roasted beet salad, and while it was OK-ish, I was disappointed. One of the main reasons I ordered it was that it came with goat cheese, but there were only a few tiny bits of cheese hidden in the mass of mixed greens. (Like, really tiny bits- it was like they were scraping the bottom of a jar or something) My husband ordered the sesame salad with chicken, and while he was polite at the time, I noticed he hardly ate anything (saying to my grandmother, "I think I'll save this for later")- but later told me it was one of the worst salads he's ever eaten. He paid $6 extra for the grilled chicken, and he said it was dry, and generally awful. (If he were with me as I type this, I could give a better description of why). I think the problem is that my husband and I tend to have high standards for food- it doesn't have to be fancy, but it does have to be good quality, and I don't want to feel like I'm being scammed. My $10 salad was worth about half that, based on the quality and quantity of ingredients it contained. Same with his salad, which cost a hilarious $18 with the chicken added. It's disappointing because they have so much potential. It COULD be a really great lunch spot, with delicious, quality food- but it's not. I want to like it, since it's so close by. But I think unfortunately they are catering to tourists from out of town, and so they aren't concerned with repeat customers. That's all I can figure. Sorry Stonewall Kitchen, after several years trying to make it work, we are done.

When I lived in Vermont and Boston, I came up here for a day trip and every time I stopped at Stonewall Kitchen. The complex itself is very big and as other Yelpers have mentioned they have a cafe, cooking classes and plenty of room to shop. I always looked forward to seeing the jams as my grandpa loved me buying the Maine blueberry Champagne jam, it is his favorite, plus they always had some sort of deal on jams. Everyone I dealt with was very nice, and it was also great to see they had samples for customers to try the product before buying. I would recommend stopping by for anyone in the area. I know I will the next time!

We stopped here on our drive back to NYC. Perfect spot to pick up amazing sandwiches for the road home. Freshly made for you, not pre-made. Very large clean store with a place to eat in or outside, very friendly. The sandwiches were amazing! No way could you find anything comparable on the drive home. I wish I found it before my last day home.

This is for the cafe. It's noisy, counter service is not great, and the food is mediocre and pricey. Avoid the gf bread - it is AWFUL. Otherwise, we really enjoy the products :)

Whenever we are in Maine passing by, we find ourselves stopping here. They have great ideas and usually you can find product cheaper than in the grocery store. They also have some really nice specials on occasion.

We stopped here for lunch and primarily because we saw on the menu that gluten free bread for sandwiches is available. We frequented this place years ago and always loved it, but that is no longer the case. I am giving them one star because my husband enjoyed his wrap. My experience- far from stellar. First I must note they are very pricey, but I've gotten used to that and if I can get decent food without getting sick, then I won't complain. I went up to the counter to order and requested GF. The first question I got was- is this a preference or an actual allergy? I stated that I had celiac, but thought about it later and wondered did she really have a right to question me? Regardless of whether or not I have celiac I asked for GF bread and that's enough for them to honor that request. I ordered a grilled chicken breast sandwich without bacon and of course it came with bacon so I told them I didn't order that. They took it back and redid it in short order. I took one bite and the sandwich was INEDIBLE! Seriously it was horrendous. The chicken did not taste like chicken and the texture was like rubber. I returned it, they apologized and refunded my money, but the damage was done. I understand that this business has acquired new ownership, maybe that's the problem, I don't know. I do know that I will never be back. It is hard enough finding places to eat when one has food allergies and this is an experience I do not want to repeat!

How long would you wait for lunch at the Stonewall kitchen café in York? We waited almost an hour! And we would have continued to wait if we hadn't inquired where our order was. We sat there with our number on the table waiting and waiting watching other diners who came in after us enjoy their meals and leaving with their leftovers! When we inquired as to what was going on with our lunch, we were told that the printer in the kitchen had gone off-line and didn't print out not just ours but several other orders for them to prepare. Nothing was done to intervene and check on the orders that were in the system that hadn't printed out. Finally an employee came by and inquired as to what our order was then quickly turned around and got our lunch within the next several minutes. No Apologies, no comped dessert or meal; no nothing. Ironically, we noticed that the owners of stonewall kitchen had been having their lunch on the table right next to us! Unfortunately for us they left before this tragedy unfolded or they would have heard an earful from us over this unacceptable situation!

For foodies and folks that like kitchen products, this place is definitely for you. You can sample all the jams, and most of them are really good. Things here are expectedly pricey, but they do have sales from time-to-time. When I went, they had a nice sale on baking mixes and soaps! The decor is nice and the service is pretty good. The people working there will happily give tips on how to use the various products sold. I didn't get to try the restaurant though. Maybe next time...

My comments are regarding the Stonewall Cafe at Stonewall Kitchen's factory store in York, ME. | As a couple other Yelpers have said in their reviews, for a company that's all about quality food and innovative flavors in their products, Stonewall simply fails to follow thru in their cafe. Perhaps the cafe is a concession, run by an outside party. For whatever reason, the food quality and service are mediocre. I've actually had better lunches in airports. The lobster bisque is just so-so and not worth $6 for a small mug. The three cheese panini was quite tasty and filling. The half lemonade iced tea was weak and didn't taste like lemonade or tea -- it tasted like cold water in which half a lemon had taken a very short swim. The Cafe is self service, similar to Panera. Some of the counter service people -- not all -- were indifferent and impatient. The cafe's prices are comparable to other lunch venues in the area,. The Cafe can be so crowded at lunchtime that an open table is hard to find, but the wait for someone to leave and free up a seat proved to be very short. When I was there the place was jammed to the rafters with pleasant senior citizens on their holiday shopping junket. I'd say go there to enjoy the factory store and to taste the innovative and delicious preserves and other Stonewall food products. They're pricey but very good. Enjoy the samples and be amazed that so many people will pay $15 for a couple Heath toffee bars with sea salt on them.

Have been here twice, lunch was delicious the BLT with avocado is great as is the lobster BLT. Today we tried breakfast, the waffle was light and fluffy with tasty fresh fruit and the quiche of the day was delicious. Did a little shopping in the store, Bellini jelly and Maine Woods hand soap. A little more than what you would pay elsewhere but worth the price. Love this place and will be back.

Other than the fact it's always packed, this is really worth visiting. The food and coffee are good. The bathroom's are always clean. And their products are top notch. My only complaint are tourists who have no sense that there are other people in the world around them and think they can stand in the middle of the aisle and chat without any sense that other people may need to get by, ARGGH. What I'm saying is this is a bit of a tourist trap so just beware!

I've been a customer for years and it has been wonderful to watch this grow from the little shack behind Fazios when I first found them to the point where I can buy their products all the way across the country in major retailers. You can practically fill up on the free samples but if you leave room the cafe is great!

We came here for lunch and were so impressed by the food that we came back for breakfast the very next morning. The complex is huge with shopping, cooking demonstration/class area and the cafe itself. This is a great concept because if you liked anything you tried on the menu, you can just walk a few steps over and buy the sauce etc to take home. This was the case when I had their sweet potato fries with ketchup. When we returned the next morning, all of us were very impressed by the french toast stuffed with blueberry cream cheese... it was just heavenly!

I am a huge Stonewall Kitchen fan.Love both, the product & the store.Stop several times a year, since I have a daughter living in Portland. In all the years shopping here I had never took the time to have a bite to eat in the cafe. This past sunday, hubby & I stopped for lunch on our way back home.Do not order the tarragon chicken salad!!Like another post confirmed,it was dry, tasteless and on a cold unimpressive croissant. My husband on the other hand really liked his burger, but found the stonewall ketchup way too sweet,I concur. For the record, the desserts are not made there and are out sourced.Remember, do not order the chicken salad!!Dry as meal!

Normally four to five STARS but the prices here are OUT of this WORLD! Cum on GUYS! LOVE the products and great quality but COME ON with the prices here already. It is just jam and Jellies and sauces. OK PRESERVES. Kitchen ware and home goods too. Love it. I like the CLEARANCE CENTER much more in nearby Rochester. This is a fun place to stop by on a cold or rainy day in Ogunquit. Free Samples? Yes Please. Let me try that. Also Barefoot Contessa is on scene here with homemade MARSHMALLOW mix and more. I have not eaten at the Cafe which looks very nice. Outside: Homemade Barn pine/ berry WREATHS.

We went on a Sunday morning because I was specifically craving a bagel and lox and this was the only place I could find it for sure. The building is large and beautiful. It houses a small cafe with an open kitchen which leads into a large display floor for their hundreds of spreads, mustards, specialty foods and utensils. The place is neat, clean, bright and pricey. The store is more the type of place you would go to buy a unique gift rather than something for yourself. The bonus is that they have dozens of samples out every day to graze on over a cup of coffee. The coffee is AMAZING. Smooth and full. The cafe, unlike the store, is reasonably priced. My sister and brother-in-law went back the day after us and tried the quiche and the stuffed french toast. They loved both. Most of the food is fresh and impressive. As to whether my bagel and lox craving was satisfied. The bagel and cream cheese was nice. The tomatoes were fresh, thick cut and delicious. The capers, oh the capers, were easily the best I have ever had. The fish on the other hand, the fish was smoky and tasty but had the fishy smell of product that had been sitting around too long. The smell almost made me stop short of finishing. Almost. OVERALL: I wouldn't come back for the bagel and lox but I would for the capers. Come here during the morning, get a cup of coffee and either split something from the cafe or just graze on some interesting samples.

Today I had a very disappointing experience with Stonewall Kitchen. I ordered an item which was not the size listed in the catalog. They should stick to food items. I will not order another non-food product from them. They didn't understand my frustration. Item was only $28 with shipping, however, it took way too much time waiting on their customer service to respond. They need to go to SERVICE RECOVERY training. Should have offered a $25 gift certificate at the least and let me keep the product. Don't think I'll be back even for the food.

If you like Stonewall Kitchen stuff (at all), you HAVE to come to this store. Cooking classes, every product in quantity, and (most importantly), the Cafe! Conveniently located almost halfway between Boston and Portland, I'd highly recommend this as a good breakpoint on a trip in either direction. Trust me.

I've loved their many products, from jams, to sauces, to mixes. The store is almost overwhelming with everything they make and then the fun household gadgets too. The food is wonderful here. Solid. Delicious. Just what you'd expect from Stonewall Kitchen.

This was a really fun destination for a mini-road trip. Coming from the Boston area it only took us an hour to get there. We got up early on a Saturday and got there in time to have breakfast in the little cafe. I loved the little individual maple syrup jugs they gave us. I had expected the food to be a little better than it was but it was alright. After brunch we took a lap around the store to do some reconnaissance, just to get an idea of what we wanted to buy. By the second lap when we made our decisions, the store had gotten really crowded. I loved all of the free samples! That was the best part! We didn't even need to eat breakfast, we could get full just off the samples! It was so fun looking at and tasting all the delicious jams and sauces. Sadly, it can be expensive so we didn't leave with too much... the experience was just fun because I always love when looking at the catalog when it comes in the mail. I get inspired to cook and bake!

When the price of some items I ordered for the holidays dropped two weeks later, their Customer Service department graciously refunded the difference to my account. The three-jam triangle pack of jam is a great gift and good value. I will look to Stonewall in the future for great gifts and gourmet jam!

Did a little pit stop with my food bloggin' cancer curin' wifey. Honey wants to stop in the joint like this, I'd be stupid to say no. My take: skip the overpriced goodies and go straight to the restaurant. Food is good and service is fast. BTW, mac n' cheese is a freaking sin in a bowl and so are fries :0)

The scene: Dan C., my sister, and myself, crammed in the backseat of my parents' car. My parents are driving us down the coast of Maine (you know, showing the foreigner the beauty that is the southern coast) when my mom gets a brilliant idea. She peers into the backseat, and in a moment of sheer genius, says "hey, you two love to cook. Let's go to Stonewall Kitchen!" Dan C.'s eyes lit up and he responded like a kid in a candy (or comic book) shop: "What?? THAT'S A REAL PLACE? There's a real Stonewall Kitchen?". Apparently, he was under the impression that it was just a product. So off we went to see the magic. The store itself is...uhm...cozy. By cozy, I mean PACKED. They sure know how to utilize every.square.inch of display space. However, it's very elegantly put-together and does not look cluttery. Each wall is committed to a different theme, and thus makes the space look like many separate experiences rather than one big room filled with products. There are tasting counters at each display for shoppers to try basically every product that Stonewall sells. I appreciate this because if I'm going to spend $6 on a small jar of chutney, I want to know what it tastes like first. Something tells me that the liberal offering of free samples of each and every product actually helps the company's sales more than enough to compensate for the margin compression from offering up so many freebies. The store is littered with recipe cards for the taking, and while some are less "recipes" than they are "suggestions of things to throw together to make a good sandwich", I appreciate this added touch. Stonewall sells cooking implements, gadgets, dinnerware, appliances, etc, though prices on these items are not competitive - if you're looking for a Le Cruset dutch oven, save your money and get it online. If you're an out-of-towner visiting southern Maine, you can also get your token Maine-like souvenirs like lobster lollipops and Maine blueberry preserves to bring home to your loved ones. This is most certainly a great experience for locals and tourists alike.

I'm a fan! Stumbled on this restaurant /store while vacationing in the York area. Wonderful restaurant and a delightful store. I had the ham, chutney and Brie on a baguette and my sweetie had the lobster roll- outstanding! Beautiful layout, fabulous merchandising with plenty of staff to lend a hand. Great quality with prices to match. Make sure to visit the gardens too - very thoughtfully planted and meticulously kept. This should absolutely be a destination while visiting this part of the country- like a walk through Sunset Magazine!

I was kind of disappointed by this location. I LOVE Stonewall products, but the cafe food was mediocre and the shop didn't have all that much to sample. AND it was regular priced. I thought the company store was supposed to be cheaper! I went to the one in Rochester, NH (no cafe, just the store) and everything was half priced, and there were samples galore! So by itself, this place would have been pretty cool, but in comparison to the smaller one in Rochester, I wasn't very impressed. The Cafe was fresh but overpriced, and the store was just a big catalog with not enough things to sample. Sorry!

Love this place for all the free samples. Can't afford a 12 dollar bottle of jam but as long as you are offering tiny pretzels and free samples we'll be there.
