It's unfortunate but the Harvest Moon is Out of Business. Great pizza just a bad location. Would love to see them in Damariscotta
Harvest Moon Pizza just catered my daughter's graduation party. The pizza was out of this world. There were quite a few varieties to choose from and all of the ingredients were delicious and fresh. Bennett and his crew arrived right on time and got the pizza oven fired up and also set up a neat serving station. Along with the pizza there was a fabulous salad which everyone enjoyed. All I had to provide were the drinks and dessert. This was my second time having Harvest Moon cater a party for me, and I can not recommend them enough. Be prepared to be impressed! Sincerely, Lisa from Scarborough
While this may be the best pizza in Waldoboro, I've had too many problems with the pizza myself. I've had the margherita, goat cheese and allium pizzas.....they all have something in them I'm allergic to. I don't have this problem with other pizzas, but I do have some preservative/chemical allergies. Just because something is organic doesn't mean it's preservative free, as I've learned the hard way. I grew up eating Neapolitan style pizzas cooked in coal fired ovens. Harvest Moon's pizza look good, but the taste isn't there. The crust isn't right, and there's not much flavor. But then again, Pepe's of New Haven, CT is a tough act to follow. I was so hopeful when this place started up, but I can't come back if the pizzas make my throat swell up so I can't breathe.

A $7 plate of eggs, fried potatoes and biscuits with gravy was among the tastiest breakfasts I've ever eaten...and I'm in my fifties. Straightforward and delicious, fairly priced. Low key, neighborhood vibe.
Great homemade breakfast made with heart! The food was much tastier than the big place up the road. A very relaxed atmosphere where each plate is cooked separately. Seems to be a local's favorite, too!! Staff very sweet like the blueberry muffin!
I usually stop at the better known Moody's down the street but decided I'd try Deb's. Food was excellent. I had the special Haddock fish chowder - the best I've ever had! I also had the the special fried clam roll. It too was excellent - fresh whole clams fried to perfection. The cole slaw was great also. Deb was holding court at the counter and Jackie did a great job with the service. So far I'll take Deb's over Moody's.

Excellent no frills joint worth a stop. A 7 oz lobster roll in a lightly buttered roll with a bowl of their spicy lobster stew was exceptionally satisfying. Named lobster and lobster, a steal for $19.99 considering many spots charged well over $10 just for a bowl of chowder. Polite, clean, quick and courteous. This past Sunday meal will certainly ensure the "wicked good restaurant" makes it into regular rotation.
Amazing fresh seafood and priced right! Very pleased with this roadside seafood restaurant. We had the fresh fried clams to start you can order them by the half Pint or full Pint. Amazing and fresh not you frozen clam strips that's for sure. My girlfriend had the Naked Lobster again a great choice very fresh it is prepared without mayo. I had the Lobster Club it was very large triple decker sandwich with two sides. Great place will visit again.
This place was excellent. We stopped here on our way up to a wedding in Rockport. The lobster rolls were great and the service was amazing. Becky may be the nicest and most helpful host we've ever had at a restaurant. She gave us tips on local scenic spots and even directions to avoid some construction on the way to Rockport. We were so impressed with Captain's Fresh Idea that we brought some friends back the very next day. Highly recommended.

Narrows Tavern

I ended up at the Narrows Tavern twice while staying in Waldoboro this past weekend for a wedding. What a great spot! It's super comfortable with solid, reasonably-priced food and a nice vibe. If you're in the area I would definitely recommend it for dinner and/or drinks. They also serve food LATE. The atmosphere is very charming and eclectic, with a rad 1800's Maine map that every other review mentions (it's very cool), two excellent paintings of the bar itself, a Jerry Garcia painting, beer signs like Anchor Steam (yay SF!), nautical stuff, etc. The lighting is a bit bright but makes it seem like more of welcoming tavern and less like your average bar that happens to serve food. Each time we went (around 7 p.m.) there were folks of all sorts - whole families with young kids seated at the large family tables, one table full of older ladies happily drinking wine and playing cribbage, and some crusty fisherman-looking dudes sitting at the bar. It felt really genuine and unpretentious. The food was surprisingly good. The first night we tried their haddock chowder, which was very creamy, with large chunks of haddock and potatoes and lots of dill. It definitely satisfied the fish chowdah craving. The next night my partner enjoyed the Rachel sandwich, which was like a healthier Reuben and came with fresh cut fries. I ordered a steak tip dinner with red wine. The tips were cooked a bit unevenly, some a little over, but were smothered with luscious pepper and onions. The broccoli side was almost raw (I like mine steamed a bit more), and even though the rice pilaf was clearly from a box, I will not deny that it was perfect to sop up the juicy steak and onion bits with. Beers are thoughtfully selected with local brews and East Coast craft beers like Magic Hat and Dogfish Head. We had Snakebites with local cider and Guiness, which were not only delicious but fun to drink. It's hard not to love libations with magical layers! They have a special mug program for regulars where you get 22 oz. for the price of a pint, so all the personalized mugs were hanging over the bar. I loved looking up and thinking about the local community that drinks here. They also have a small but decent wine list (honestly I was surprised they even HAVE a wine list - nice one, guys) and hard liquor. I live in San Francisco and am lucky to have a plethora of good food around me all the time. Unfortunately many places around the country just don't make much of an effort, so I really appreciate a restaurant in rural coastal Maine that really cares about serving quality & tasty food, some of which is sourced locally, and is conscious about carrying local beers. Honestly if I lived here I would probably be here all the time and have a mug at the bar!
I love this place!! The food is excellent!! For an appetizer we got the spinach and artichoke dip and it came with homemade pita chips (I think its pita) and it was excellent, but enough chips. My cousin got the broiled haddock dinner with the rice pilaf and asparagus which she loves and always gets every time. I got the stuffed baked haddock dinner with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The fish was great, I've had better seafood stuffing and this one was crab, but still pretty good. The mashed potatoes were real and excellent (they don't have gravy through :-( ). I've had better coleslaw also. I'd try a different side next time. My sister got the chicken Alfredo with asparagus and she let me try it and we both think its the best Alfredo sauce we have ever had anywhere! Better than Olive Garden! Next time I come I'm getting that! There is limited seating so we had to stand and wait for 5 min or less. They were also out of a few items, but that's to be expected when a place has great food. I definitely plan on coming back.
What a nice little local tavern! As we walked in we didn't get the "who are these strangers" look from any of the locals seated at the bar. Instead the nice barmaid came over right away and handed us a menu and took our drink order. I always like to try local brewed beers when I travel so I asked her to get me a dark local beer. She returned with Gritty Black Fly Stout. It was a lot like Guinness and I was very happy. I drank that every time we popped in during our stay in Maine. The place was very homey and you could tell the locals enjoyed coming because there were many mugs hanging over the bar for regulars. Even though the tables were all like picnic tables and not the most comfy of seats it seemed right in this environment. I ordered the haddock chowder and it was tasty. I'm used to chowder being a bit thicker but this is the style back east. There was plenty of flavor and plenty of local fish. It was a bit cold temp wise. But I was hungry and it was late. My dining companion had the seafood alfredo - Fresh scallops and Maine shrimp sautéed with garlic and herbs, tossed in a creamy alfredo sauce and fettuccini, topped with fresh grated parmesan cheese. She really enjoyed it and the scallops and shrimp were plentiful. I will admit when we returned another night for just a beer before heading back to our B&B they had a jam session with local musicians. It was loud and off key and a big turn off. We drank our beers quickly and left. If I were a local and knew the entertainers it might have been tolerable. But after a long day of sightseeing and driving it was just too much for us middle aged women to endure.
