This place is amazing. I have eaten there 5-6 times now and it has never been anything but phenomenal. The Buttermilk fried chicken will melt in your mouth, the burgers are awesome and even the salads are a meal in and of themselves. All the food is locally purchased and made on site. It isn't fast food, but much more "your way." The hostess.owner is wonderful, and on slow days can be heard singing along with the radio and will even do a little dance! Most amazingly, I didn't go in for months, but when I went for lunch yesterday she was able to remember that I don't like lemon in my water and the beer I order the last time I was in! Given the option, I would never go anywhere else in the area.

Six of us enjoyed lunch here. Service was excellent and food was of a high quality and tasty. I had a burger; my fellow diners enjoyed the portobello sandwich, burgers, chicken pesto on focaccia. I will definitely return for lunch and also to try the brunch which has great reviews!

There's a lot to like here. Eclectic menu and well executed fare. Warm and engaged service. Small but lively bar with broad selection. I might not order their fish reuben again, but not because it was subpar. There's just other intriguing choices on the menu and I welcomed trying that for the first time. Companions enjoyed smoked meat salad and a saag Indian entree, followed by blueberry/lemon bread pudding. I devoured their carrot cake, which eschewed ubiquitous too-sweet cream cheese frosting for something less sugary. I wanna say it incl sour cream, but at any rate, it was lovely. Visiting from Phoenix, perhaps what I liked most was the feel and space; an older home perched on a hill, with a cute little sitting porch, and inside, coffee and cream hued walls, recent artwork for sale, and, I think, wood floors. The whole atmosphere is a winning blend of old and new, traditional and hip. This wouldnt rate five stars in a big city. But it does here. Make like a badger and wriggle your way in.

The food is amazing. The specials are thoughtful and the wine and beer menu is awesome. The regular menu is delicious and omg the tater tots! Who would have thought that this little gem even existed in Union, but it does! Go. You won't be disappointed.

I visited the Rockland area a few times while my buddy was stationed there with the Coast Guard (playing catch up on reviews) and DAMN the Barnyard Burger is one of the best burgers ever! A great afternoon stop for some good beer and a SOLID burger. I might have to start visiting the area now just for great food...

Food service was painfully slow. Lots of kids here which was great until they got hungry... Poor parents were trying harder than they should have. Food was not worth the wait. Soup was too salty. Salad was limp and grilled chicken was cold-as in, not grilled to order. Why did it take 40 minutes for soup and a salad? I was excited to find this place but was disappointed in execution. Not worth the stop.

I really like this place. The only thing preventing it from having a 5 star from me is the really limited menu. I've eaten here a handful of times and the food is Great! really well done. The burgers are top notch. And if you want it rare, that's what you get! (YAY!) However. Seasonal menu changes are what keep my interest in a place. The service is awesome. (Great service is Rare in this area...so Keep it up Badger!!) All in all great place to go. Good food. Great service. I can't speak about the beer as I prefer wine, of which the selection there is getting better..but most people go for the beer. We need more places like this!

I traveled over to Union based on good reviews, but was unfortunately disappointed Service was good, but the food was just average. Most of the beers were crossed off the menu as well.

Stopped in with the family after candlestick bowling later afternoon. Hit the great variety of beers and several appetizers. Shrimp stew with fresh snap peas was fantastic. A small place so you need to take you time. Not fast but enjoy the different beers while you wait.

We tripped over this little hidden gem while roaming the back roads of Union Maine during our recent week long vacation in Midcoast Maine. It is places like this that make Maine the wonderful, friendly place that it is. Service was excellent and attentive as we sat at the little bar for lunch. Beer selection was over the top - hadn't heard of many but the Bartender was helpful in suggesting one that turned out to be excellent. My husband had the Falafel and I had a grilled Chicken sandwich- both were just very fresh and made with TLC - not just your average food here - there is love and care taken in preparing their meals. We will definitely stop here again on one of next adventures in Maine. Thanks Badger Café for your warm welcoming spirit.

I've been there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it has all been great. The waitresses/waiters have always been friendly and they have an awesome beer and dessert menu too.

We ate dinner here last night after our "tour of Maine countries," which included China, Maine. Other yelpers had recommended the Badger and it was close by, so we gave it a try. What a great decision! The service was quick and friendly and the food was all well-seasoned and clearly made to order with fresh ingredients. We all had the haddock-tarragon chowder, which was thick and flavorful. I had the bruschetta, while my wife had the falafel salad and her sister the quiche of the day (bacon and swiss). We were all raving about our choices. They also have an impressive selection of beer, including it appears a rotation of draft brews. To top it off, all their desserts are homemade! It's tucked a little away from the main thoroughfares but well worth finding if you are in the area. We will go back for sure!

I am always very happy with my meal at this great little place. I have been at least a half dozen times. The prices are the best around, especially for what you get. The food is obviously prepared as ordered and is of very good quality. The service is excellent and friendly, and not over bearing. Good service is hard to find around here! The menu is small but good. It's easy to make a decision! Waiting for a table is worth it!

Great food a/nd a hell of a beer selection. Try the steak and cheese- it's served on a ciabatta (sp ?) roll with peppers and onions and this amazing cheese and beer dip sauce- mmmmmmmm......what else can I say? The've got burgers made with local organic meat, great appetizers and friendly service. We live in Union, so it's kind of our go-to spot. They've got daily specials too, check them out. I will say it's a bit pricey - a house salad is around $8 (it's freaking lettuce people!), but well worth it in the end.

We had lunch here in October and I loved it. The place serves creative, local, and seasonal food, so the fact that they were out of certain items by about 1 pm just made it seem like a popular joint that sticks by its principles. My cream of mushroom soup and sourdough sandwich with local ham and goat cheese (seriously, my cousin we were visiting in Union knew the lady who made the goat cheese) were delicious, and the lemon blueberry bread pudding was a fabulous dessert. My companions loved their sandwiches (including a locally-sourced, grass-fed burger) and sweet potato fries. Ginger ice cream and a chocolate peanut butter brownie sundae were also consumed with relish (metaphorical). I really hope I get to eat here again - I want to try the polenta lasagna next time!

Badgers are awesome (see youtube.com/watch?v=c81b… ). Although no restaurant could ever match badger fare (think cobras, kills stolen from bears, killer bees, etc), the Badger Cafe and Pub does a pretty good job dishing up food a badger lover can grub on. The service is also probably a touch better than one would expect from a badger, but I still would like to think I could have a badger sidekick one day. Union, Maine is not exactly the most happening town around so an establishment like the Badger Cafe was rather surprising to find on my most recent visit out East. I ordered the country burger which is a tasty mixture of beef, pork and (if I'm remembering this correctly) lamb. My friend and nearby Burketville native also enjoyed her meal, but I can't remember what it was at this point. We both ordered salads too, and although they would have bored a badger, we found them quite tasty with homemade dressing. I didn't get a chance to experience the Pub, but I'm going to hope that it is badger-worthy: scrappy, cunning, ferocious, and awesome.

My wife and I ate at the Badger tonight and loved it. Great beer selection and deliciously prepared food. I had the chowder and salmon in a puff pastry that was excellent. Veggies were nicely prepared and not the usual frozen variety. My wife was impressed with her burger and sweet potato fries.
