I kept hearing about Sea Dog having a great brunch. The rumors were right. This is the best brunch I've had in the entire state. Normally I hit Sea Dog because it's got great food and drink and a killer location. I always get the fish and chips and a beer (or two or 3). You can't go wrong if you choose brunch here. It's exceptional and the people are great.

My first trip to Maine and was told this was a great place to eat lobster and drink beer. Boy was I disappointed. 1st went to the hostess and was told a 30min wait even though the place seemed 3/4 full. Went to the bar and ordered a draft of their beer, bartender was rude and rather snooty. Finally seated and was met with a rather rude waiter who seemed to be put off by our questions. Ordered the lobster special, which was touted as their best dish. Out came the clam chowder. Which was not creamy at all, had a strange taste so I figure it was just so authentic that I was not appreciating it. Out came the lobster, on a bed of mussels. Cracked open one of the claws and out pored a gallon of water, seriously never seen so much water. Lobster was rubbery, mussels were ok. So a 50 dollar dish was horrible, service bad and bar tender was not a nice guy. I don't see what people see in this place but will never return.

I absolutely love their blackened haddock sandwich. The food is generally fairly good. My husband enjoys their beer selection.

Great brew pub on river. Huge menu with numerous beers on tap, all local. Three different veggie burgers, all handmade. Spinach dip is awesome. Pretzels with beer cheese dip is to die for, especially the dip. Huge restaurant with outdoor seating and full of antiques from the mill it is in. Great views of river. Friendly waitress and fast service. Parking is a little limited, but can find a space. Prices are a bit higher than other restaurants, but it is worth it. Great, large bar too.

I've got to give credit where credit is due: Sea Dog Brewing is what got me in to beer. (Thanks, Blue Paw). So I'll always be a fan. Now, Sea Dog has it's ups and downs... just like any other establishment. For the Topsham location, it really comes down to who is working, because sometimes the service is stellar, and other times it's pretty lackluster. The last few times I've been, service has been great... timely, friendly, and genuine. The atmosphere is a pretty interesting one, too. Topsham's location is in an old mill, so you have all of this old wood, tall ceilings, and a great view of the river... and when it's nice out, there's also patio seating which can be nice... or a bit of a nuisance, depending on whether or not the river is rushing or still. The food is pretty comparable from location to location. I haven't had a bad meal at the SoPo, Topsham, or Bangor locations, so I guess you could say that's a good thing! I do highly recommend you get the fried pickles, though... but I prefer them with their garlic aioli over the sweet pepper one that they serve with the appetizer. I've not noticed if Topsham has free WiFi, but it's best to check with your server.

We went for lunch this week while on vacation. Excellent! Great brews. Wonderful service. Perfect weather for sitting outside on the deck. Get the blackened haddock sandwich. Yum!

This place gets away with the massive corner cutting they do on quality due to the river view. That's all they have. The reason so many people dislike calamari is because of the way places like this massacre it. Is that breading? Flavorless, bland misery. You guys should be ashamed for stealing people's money and delivering a shoddy product, every time. Someone sat down and thought, how can I turn a profit and not care? Nothing is a signature dish. Nothing was put together with thought or pride.

pretty awesome! i had the fish tacos, and they were delightful. The sunfish is always my fav...awesome brick work inside and overlooking the river.

The good: The stuffed haddock was outstanding. The seafood stuffing was perfectly flavored and I wanted more. The beer selection was great and many different options. It was hard for me to choose one item. The crab and bacon soup was very tasty. The bacon wanted me to ask for another bowl. Don't get an appetizer, get this! The Bad: the cilantro lime rice was neither cilantro nor lime nor rice. It had no flavor and the rice was under done. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she actually agreed with me! Did nothing about it only agreed. I was hoping for maybe offering me another side. I think the kitchen screwed up and she didn't want to say anything. Also, it seemed like a long time between times the waitress checked on us, but it might have been busy in her section, so I'm not holding that against her unless it happens again.

Great spot for a beer. Food is ok with your standard service - nothing too amazing. Love the blueberry beer though in the summer. The deck is fantastic and worth stopping by for a spell. They have a good kids menu selection n

Its so disappointing that the food and atmosphere couldn't be better. The porch has such a great view, how about fixing it up a bit, candles ( to keep mosquitoes down ) getting rid of the spiders hanging down over everyones tables, some placemats, better atmosphere lighting ... a little care to this place could go a long way. We waited 45 minutes for a sandwich , salad and a bowl of chowder . Then the salad had a long hair in it, which I returned . The food was subpar at best..You have sooo much potential there , just need better management and more caring about the little things that would make a person come back. The waitstaff was great and cheerful despite the obstacles they face, kudos to them.

We chose this location for a Saturday dinner based on the hope of sitting outside. As luck would have it, we only waited a few minutes to be seated! I'll admit that I had low expectations about the food, but did receive a favorable review on the burgers from some friends. As a result, I ordered the basic burger and my wife the BBQ burger. (Both medium and both cooked appropriately.) Pretty tasty! The fries are also good. Onion rings are tasty, too, but I'd choose the fries. We split a half flight (5 tastings) of beer, which is a good deal, and finished with a fried strawberry dessert from the "special" menu. Service was also very good. Overall, I would go again. I might even go with inclement weather and sit inside. Crazy, I know.

  • Tristan F.

The food is terrible. The calamari was slimy, obviously old, and wasn't fried enough (the breading was still soft and liquid dough in places). I had a pulled pork sandwich, which was oily, near flavorless, and made the bread soggy. The french fries they serve are frozen and cheap. The beer is alright, but for over $100 for four people in rural Maine, I'd expect it to be better than fast food. The inside of the restaurant is bright and nice.

I love this restaurant!!! My husband and I enjoy sitting on the patio overlooking the water on warm days.....The menu is extensive and the seafood is yummy....We have had lunch and dinner at many of the restaurants from Portland to Brunswick and always return to SEA DOG BREWERY in Topsham....

I've eaten here many times and all our servers have been awesome. It sucks that the bar is ALWAYS full, would like to some day sit up there... The food is hit or miss, I've had ok fish but really good chowder and lobster rolls, not so great dessert :( I had a peanut butter moose cake with Reeses pieces, sad that it wasn't homemade. I will still come here because I do like the atmosphere and they have blueberry beer which is so yummy.

if you're here visiting the area it's a nice place to go, but for a local like me it's only average. it's not like it used to be. the food is mediocre (i've had better and worse) but for the quality it's a bit pricey. i think what you're really paying for is the location. right on the river being in an old mill, kind is cool for the historic area. in the summer it's nice to sit out on the deck. i usually only go once or twice a year with my family.

I really like The Sea Dog. Their burgers and fries are outstanding. I love sitting out on the deck in the summer. The only problem is when they have live music inside it is deafining. Other wise great food, great atmosphere, great drinks!

I have always enjoyed this place when visiting my friends at Bowdoin. It is located next to the river and also serves great beer. The food is okay/good. The 3 stars is for the poor service. We came in during a rainy day and the place was pretty empty with a few folks at the bar and some tables. It took us 5 minutes to get a beer order in because the bar tender was too busy with who knows what. It was great conversation so we had 3 beers total with my friend but each time we were empty it took quite some time for the bar tender to acknowledge us. I can understand if it is a busy night but unattentive service when there are only a few people is not acceptable. Will give them benefit of the doubt and will be back but hope to get better service next time.....

Mediocre brews and horrible food. Seadog brews are typically average compared to all the other excellent brews available locally, but some of the specialty and cask brews are worth a try. The food is pretty bad. Unimaginative, uninspired and poorly executed. There are about 30 better places to eat within a few miles of Seadog.

Great beer, service was excellent, and food was awesome too. No waiting for a table unless you wanted to be outside. Appetizer mussels in beer rivals Bertha's in Baltimore. All our meals were excellent. Blackened cod, salmon, and fish and chips all done well. Wish I lived closer!

ABYSMAL! Reservations for 50. Arrived to find half of our space seated with other guests- even tho there were many other open tables. Waited 40 minutes with no sign of a server. No drinks, no menus. Went to the bar to try and get a drink. In the ten minutes I was at the bar the barkeep only served two patrons a beer.

I had been avoiding this place largely because I knew their beers were brewed by Shipyard and I am not by any means a fan of Shipyard's beer. A group of us decided to stop by on a whim because we both had visited Sebago Brewing Company twice in the past and we wanted to compare the local offerings. This place had one of the best burgers I have ever had!!!! PORK BELLY!!!! yummmmmmm.

Spotted the brewery from the bridge as I was exploring beautiful downtown Brunswick, and I couldn't help but walk over and check it out on a beautiful Monday afternoon. I had a lovely brown ale at the bar with the friendly bartender as I watched the Olympics on a few TVs. The view is kickass, and I bet a sunny summer afternoon would be well spent here. They have a smelt fry.. on my list for next time!!

  • Heidy M.

The food was good. Highly recommend the lobster feast and the sweet potato fries. Now, the only thing keeping this place from getting 4 or five stars comes with a short story: My sister is Arachnophobic. We waited for a table outside next to a window and this window is (quite literally) crawling with spiders. They were on the roof, the walls and the windows. Even I was a little freaked when one landed on my shoulder. We asked to move inside and the waitress was nice and understanding about the situation. Good food and service, spiders? Not the best guests.

The Sea Dog is not the most fancy restaurant in Topsham/Brunswick, but it delivers consistency, has friendly staff and good beer. I eat out in Topsham/Brunswick on average once per week and am generally inclined to go to Sea Dog due to never having a bad experience there. The late night menu is one of the more flexible options in the area after 10:00pm (unless you like Wendy's). I would recommend them to anyone travelling in the area. I like the light "Owl's Head' Brew.

Nice pub in a historic riverside building. Sea dog pale ale was yuck, cut it a little with a lemon. Ordered fish and chips, fries were great but fish was a bit mushy. The fish was no doubt frozen but was handled or cooked wrong. The outside was crisp and tasty, but too soft inside. Possible just a bad day for fish. I got a brownie and ice cream for desert, the brownie was dry, ice cream great.

Waitress brought our appetizer less than a minute before our entrée. Very clumsy timing. The wifi did not work, I had to talk to my wife. The food was mediocre cold trying to juggle the app and entree. Very loud crowd noise.

  • MJ J.

My favorite thing about the sea dog in Topsham is the building that its in. It sits just below the falls and the bridge to Brunswick in an old mill. There is a nice view of the Androscoggin river from inside the restaurant and a better one from the outdoor deck. The food isn't incredible by any means but I've never managed to walk away hungry. The pub fare and burgers are good so you will be satisfied if that's what you are after. The tap line is about 10 deep but I'm not a huge fan of their beers. In my experience, the servers have been friendly and the kitchen has been timely. It's a good place for large groups to gather for dranks. On the contrary I'm probably not coming here for a romantic evening.

This place has good food and a great atmosphere but there is better beer in Maine. The beer is light and fruity whereas I prefer a tastier beer with more hops. The location by the water is great though and the service is excellent.

    (3)
  • Norm C.

The location is great. Right on the river and with nice views web if you don't sit at a window. The atmosphere is really cool as the building seems to be an old mill and they kept much of the things like big wood beams and brick that add to the look. The food was very good. Excellent clam chowder and lobster bisque. Fishermans pie was excellent as was the fish and chips. Out service was very good and friendly. Oh and the two beers I tried were great. So if in the area like us visitors i would find this place to have a good meal.

Great local watering hole in Topsham. Kolby and I stopped in here on the first day of our fall trip to Maine. Pulling up, Sea Dog Topsham offers a super-scenic river view, complete with dam and waterfall. Inside, the place itself is very casual. We sat at the bar and ordered a beer flight and pumpkin brushetta with balsamic. It was an unexpected perfect pair. For our entree, I had the squash soup with baked apple compote and Kolby and the seafood pot pie. Mine, and his were very good. In addition to the great view, the place had a great vibe. When you visit make sure to check out the members-only mugs hanging above the bar. If we weren't out-of-towners I'd sign up myself!

I've been here several times and never had any complaints until this past weekend. Our waitress was so rude and so short.... We could barely get in a sentence before getting cut off, and anything our table asked for seemed as though we were putting her out. Food is just "ok" to put up with horrible wait staff!

  • Justin S.

Decent food, okay beers, amazing location. The sum of all three makes for a solid meal every time. The food tastes good but nothing fancy or unique. The atmosphere of this place is what keeps me coming back. Young vivacious feeling, amazing outdoor seating, and wrap around U-shape bar. Great for families with children, college friends, game nights and date nights. They always say location, location, location.

New to area and already have been there a few times. Fish sandwich and burgers are very good, sweet potatoes excellent, view from outdoor deck great.

The food is surprisingly upscale and sophisticated for a brewpub. But also very reasonably priced. I would give it 4 stars based on the amazing food, but am deducting one star for the poor service at the bar. I went on a very slow Tuesday night in December and there was only a few people sitting at the bar. Both bar tenders spent more time socializing with one of the waitresses at the end of the bar than they did actually doing their job. I sat with my menu closed for quite a few minutes before they came around to take my order. It sucks going to restaurants alone - the last thing I want to do is sit at the bar by myself for longer than I have to. I also went on the previous Saturday night with my husband, and received good service at one of the high top tables at the bar, despite the place being very busy. The bartender also changed the TV's to the Bruins game when asked.

  • Justin H.

Food was meh, at best. I had Fish and Chips, lot of batter on fish. Haddock was fresh though for sure. My wife's Chicken Sandwich was pretty meager. She also tried a side of Blueberry bbq sauce, yuck. Tasted like ketchup with blueberries. Beers were pretty tasty. Blueberry and Raspberry were the best. I am a big beer nut and had the sampler. Odd that those 2 tasted the best. The IPA's just didn't do it for me. We were tired after a long day in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park and this was on the way to Freeport. We will not seek it out again on a return visit.

Great location and atmosphere, great food. The Sunday brunch here is fantastic, and kids under 6 are free. $3 Bloodys, Margaritas and Mimosas are a great deal. Service is fast and friendly. As far as the restaurant part of this place goes, a home run. However, this place suffers from the Maine Beer Syndrome. Sea Dog, Grittys, Gearys, Shipyard, you better start paying attention, Maine breweries like Baxter, Oxbow, Maine Beer Co. and a few others are riding the craft brewing wave and leaving you in their wake. You're resting on your laurels and your beer is as average and tasteless as a glass of Boston Lager at the airport lounge. While you're at it, consider updating your logo. The block stencil letters and that cartoon dog with the old salt hat on are just that, old. Hoping for a makeover project here, a new brewer, an IPA or Pale Ale with some actual flavor, and marketing team with an imaginative designer may make me consider picking up a six-pack next time I am browsing the cooler. Until then, I'll keep blowing past your beer as fast as i do Bud Light Lime.

from Bangor to Kittery, best fry-up had in the state of Maine. period. toppest haddock n' chips, plumpest shrimp, sweetest calamari plus blueberry beer i like a lot. beauteous by-water views, fun crowd, chummy service, cheap(ish). Dukedom, you're mine.

Writing from a server's standpoint, this restaurant is well run. Quick, efficient service where everyone works as a team. We were disappointed this wasn't an actual brewery that gives tours, but merely a restaurant. Starving, we sat down to eat. Our server, Amanda, was friendly & helpful, and told us where the closest Sea Dog/Shipyard brewery tour was located on our way back home. Food was nothing to write home about. The nachos were ok, the pickle burger was a little charred, but good, and my fries were crunchy and yummy. Unfortunately, there were a dozen spiders and cobwebs in the windows, and flies hanging around everywhere. We spent half the meal swatting at the bugs. They definitely need pest control to spray or something. Wicked unsanitary.

Went here for during an overnight getaway last fall. I had the stuffed haddock and it was fair, I wasn't overly excited. Atmosphere was pretty loud, but there was a big birthday party table a few feet away. Cool rustic atmosphere and I bet the view is nice during the day. I didn't try any brews, maybe next time. I tried a fancy mixed drink that was WAYYYYYYY too sweet for my liking. Service was great. I think I would like to give this a try for lunch when I'm back that way again, hopefully outside in warm air :).

  • Mattie C.

Awesome place, and I love their beers - the blueberry beer is incredible! And their pumpkin beer isn't so bad either. Food: standard bar food, nothing special. Atmosphere: I love the building and its location overlooking the river. I think it is unique and interesting, and the interior is very large and spacious. Whatever you do, get the blueberry beer. It is the best fruity beer I think I have ever tasted next to this one belgian raspberry lambic which I forgot the name of. Actually, maybe they are tied for first in the fruity beer category. But I have tried several blueberry beers from different companies and this is hands down the best I have tasted.

This place is just alright, generic food and not great beer. The view is beautiful of the river though. I'd come for a lunch but not for dinner again.

My husband and I frequent here bi-weekly probably. Sitting on the deck with a beer is the most relaxing experience ever. A couple years ago the Sea Dog changed it's menu - I must say, since then every single thing I have tried has been outstanding. The service has also always been great. We usually split a meal to save ourselves from that 'omg I ate too much I want to puke' feeling. It is the perfect amount of food - and the staff usually end up plating it out into 2 portions for us too without us ever asking, was a nice touch. I recommend anything with their new 'slab bacon,' also the turkey cobb is a huge favorite of mine. If you are there in the spring/summer, you have to get the Sunfish Ale, it is a great citrusy beer that I wish they would bottle as I would purchase regularly.

The cons: Soggy burger The pros: Great beers, good service and wonderful view It's probably a quick fix to get a new chef or one that is more consistent so I say check it out. The view is worth the trip Deal found via MealDealFinder for iOS bit.ly/MealDealFinderiTu…

To preface, I haven't eaten at the Sea Dog Brewing Company. This review is for location and beer only. I sampled all 10 beers that were available to sample. The standouts for me were the Blueberry beer, the Cask, and the IPA. Also, on a nice day, can you really beat the view from outside overlooking the river? I don't think so.

We came to sea dog for the first time while staying in Brunswick last weekend (and came back twice!). I think their menu is great. There was a good selection and really seemed like there was something for everyone. Brunch menu was good and they had $3 Mimosas & Bloody Mary's. The beer is ok. Good, but to me nothing to really write home about. Service was good, even though the pub was busy for brunch on Sunday. I bet it's a great place to go once the weather is nice and you can sit outside!

Had a hearty crispy kale and tomato soup here for lunch. With a generous slice of toasted bread and an iced tea, $10 could have bought me lunch. I didn't need the quinoa salad I ordered as my main course. It was a nice combination of healthy beans, corn, tomatoes, and greens but too much flavorless oily dressing. I stole some of my husband's home made potato chips and couldn't eat just one. He had a crab and cheese sandwich - it looked good! The atmosphere is fun: beers, cocktails. and sports on the many TVs. The deck seemed perfect for a summer lunch, if you can get a table.

We go to Seadog now and then. Sometimes it is really good. Other times we experience some of the problems others have mentioned. Today it was good. I had the mediterranean salad with steak & artichokes. What I had was good. I'd get it again, but why didn't it contain some feta and Greek olives? The addition of those ingredients would've raised it to the level it should've been. Normally I avoid beers that have flavorings, however, enough Yelpers have commented on the blueberry beer that we thought we'd try it. Three of us ordered the black & blue which is a combination of the blueberry beer and stout. It was good. Next time we think we'll take the plunge and try the blueberry beer straight, but we do like our hops. The Sunday brunch buffet was available while we were there. We weren't ready to eat that much, but it looked really good. One week later, update: went back to try the blueberry beer straight up. It was weak, watery, minimal blueberry flavor & aroma. If you want blueberry beer to write home about, go to Bar Harbor and have the Atlantic Brewing version. Today I had the chicken Cobb sandwich. The chicken was overlooked dry tasteless white chicken. Only one small wedge of avocado was included. The bun disintegrated, and the fried potatoes were the coated tasteless vehicles for catsup that are apparently popular with the hoi polloi.

If you're looking for overpriced pub fare, small portions, and mediocre service, then feel free to waste your money here. I came here twice, and both times were the opposite of WOW. I left there still hungry, and with less satisfaction than when I went in. Why do people still keep coming to this place? I was trying to figure this out. It's got to be the beer, or possibly because of the karaoke if you're into that sort of thing, 'cause it sure as hell can't be because of anything else.

We've now been here 4 times, and I don't drink beer. My husband isn't a great fan of Sea Dogs brews, but thought the Porter this time outstanding. We keep coming back every time we're in Brunswick, because the food is consistently good, the service always prompt and attentive, and the views both inside and outside a real treat. Never had a single thing that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. This time we even had dessert -- maple walnut icecream over pound cake topped with fresh strawberries and shaved chocolate -- not a mix I'd thought of, but knew the minute I saw it on the menu that I HAD to have it. No regrets! We've had sandwiches, calamari, seafood specials, salads -- all excellent. Their full bar is full enough for my simple tastes and they poor enough to make you sleep really well.

Went with high expectations after seeing the menu online... Turns out they had barely anything on the menu they had listed on their Internet menu. My husband ordered the "mildly" spicy noodles that ended up being so spicy he began to sweat. I ordered a burger that consisted of a soggy bun, tasteless meat and cheese. I was hoping for at least a tomato and maybe a piece of lettuce. Fries were also bland, cold and chewy. There was a DJ there that was playing music so loud my glass was vibrating on the table. All in all a huge waste of time. Never going back again!

Let me preface this by saying that I worked at this location of the Sea Dog for three years back in college. I always loved the place, and even after getting done there to move on to other employment, I continued to go back because I enjoyed the atmosphere. This has all changed for me as of our experience of last weekend. We arrived at the Sea Dog and were told that there would be a 25 minute wait for a table. I could clearly see several empty tables in the dining area, but figured that they still needed to be bussed. The host told us that if we wished to sit in the bar area, however, there was a table free. We took the table in the bar area, and proceeded to wait 15 minutes for the bartender to come over to deliver menus (she was busy complaining to other employees about how this was her seventh straight day at work). When she walked up to our table, she rolled her eyes and tossed down the menus. We then waited another 15 minutes for her to come back to deliver our beer and take our order. I am aware that the Sea Dog uses food runners, so I wasn't surprised when someone else delivered our food to the table, but we were half done with our meals before the bartender came back to check on us. Clearly the two-bite check back isn't something she practices. After we were done with our meals, she stopped back to see if we needed more drinks- my husband ordered another beer, and pour friend ordered another glass of wine. My husband's beer arrived within five minutes, but our friend's wine didn't show. In fact, it wasn't until after she dropped the check that she realized she hadn't brought it. The final straw for me was when I got home to discover that not only had she charged us for our meal, but she also charged my debit card for someone else's meal. I called and spoke to the manager, who informed me that there was nothing that he could do- I would have to wait and call back on Tuesday morning and speak with the GM. Only he can process a refund. My friend had noticed that there was a bill for another table at our table when she came back, but we assumed (incorrectly!) that she had just dropped it at the wrong table. Guess not. The Sea Dog isn't what it used to be, and the service sucks now. It's sad to think that a place that I once loved has hired people that clearly don't give a crap about the shoddy service they are providing. I've WORKED there- your pay is manly based on tips, and tips come from offering excellent service. At this point, I won't ever go back.

Obviously their beer is worthy of 5 stars, at least in my opinion. If you have tried (and enjoyed) their blueberry wheat beer, you know what I'm talking about. Last night we sat on the outside patio and enjoyed some brews and a light dinner. The outside patio is great, there are views of the river and a nice breeze. We ordered a round of black and blues (Sea Dog Stout and Blueberry Beer layered). SO good. The service was a bit slow and it wasn't even very busy. Probably the quietest I've ever seen on a weekend night. I ordered the mussels and frites and was very happy with them. It was a great portion and the sauce they were in, a beer & butter sauce I think?, was great. The aioli on my fries was fabulous. It took awhile to get our check and to get the server to come back to box up our leftovers, my biggest complaint. I really wouldn't have thought much of it if the place was busy but it was far from it. I'm glad we left when we did because Karaoke was just getting underway and the acoustics left something to be desired. Ouch!

I had a seasonal grapefruit beer here once, one of the best beers I've ever had. This is the place to Come drink local beers, shoot some billiards, and try to stay out of fights. Rough and tumble crowd

Food is great, beer is par, and service is hard to come by. About half of the time that I go to Sea Dog I get okay service, and the other half it's terrible service. Be ready to wait at least twenty minutes for the server to even acknowledge you. Beer is alright by me. Food is pretty good. I recommend Sunday brunch from 10am-2pm. It's a large buffet that is tended to by the kitchen staff, who are actually better servers than the servers themselves.

I went to the Sea Dog Brewing in Topsham last summer, and I must say that I do plan on returning in the future! Great food, generally speedy service, and the view of the Androscoggin River and the green bridge were awesome!!

Service was horrible. Food mediocre. Synopsis: I arrived very hungry and ordered a cup of chowder and an open face turkey plate. Speficly asked waitress to bring my soup out right away. App20 min later I asked where my chowder was. About 20 minutes later it came out 30sec before my meal. I ordered the cup to hold me over...bullshit. Got chowder with meal..strike one Never got utensil even after asking and ate my meal with the soup spoon...strike two Asked for extra gravy never got it, when I asked 5 min later she said its coming, never did...strike three Server was triple seated which can be tough for a newer server but she was specificly asked if she minded a third table and she excepted. No excuses for her lack of care...strike four I do not recommend this place for the service is horrible and the food is average good.

I'd give it 5 stars, but they didn't initially cook my fish properly. They cooked me another and didn't charge me for it. All else was excellent :-). We did the beer sampler and a glass of the Blueberry. Parking was great and we could tell that the view of the Androscoggin River would be fantastic in the day.

In my 10 days in Brunswick, I ate here not once, not twice, but three times! It's a fun place with a gorgeous view of the river. The food is good, fresh and well prepared. And yes, they do have blueberry soda! The first and third time I was there was with a large group. The first time we called ahead and let them know we were coming, the second time we just showed up. Each time they were accommodating and friendly with great service. It was also the place where I took my fiance for dinner. Even though they were packed with beer drinking sports fans they still managed to find a quiet spot for us to have a nice dinner for two. I'm not a beer drinker so I can't say anything about that, but my fiance seemed to enjoy what he had. I really like this place. I highly recommend.

Had lunch here for the first time. Great pickle chips with spicy dipping sauce. Beer sampler was a fun way to try a few different beers. One of the best fruit beers I have had in a long time with the seasonal raspberry. The haddock tacos were well blackened and healthy for you if you avoid the aoili. I did have order envy of my son's BBQ burger with onion strings on it though.

I have been to the Sunday brunch buffet at the Sea Dog twice, a year apart. Last year, the short order cook at the buffet didn't seem to know how to cook and he definitely couldn't cook more than one thing at a time. I had hoped things would have improved by this year, but sadly no. This year I didn't even order anything cooked to order because the line was so long. One of our guests ordered eggs sunny side up and got over easy, not what he wanted. The rest of the buffet food is good. The best item is the eggs benedict. The eggs are a bit overcooked from sitting in the chafing dish, but they are good and the hollandaise sauce was very good. My only complaint about the buffet is that they don't seem to be on top of refreshing the dishes. There seemed to only one person in charge and he was doing his best, but things ran out and weren't replenished very quickly. At one point there were no cups for soup or fruit. The dessert table got decimated and looked very unappetizing. For a restaurant that seems to know how to prepare a decent buffet, it is too bad that they can't get the timing of things down better. And they really need to get someone who knows how to cook eggs and pancakes quickly. I must add that the table servers we had both times I ate here were excellent.

This restaurant has okay food, good beer, and a great view of the Androscoggin River. As far as I know has the best view in town. I've had no problems with the service. But they have a policy where they will not seat you until your entire party has arrived, even if you have a party of ten and are just waiting for two people. The inside of the restaurant can get very noisy when it is crowded so I prefer to go there during the summer when I can sit outside.

This place was unexpectedly fantastic. I mean, I do love their beer, but I wasn't quite sure what to expect when we decided to make this our first stop for dinner on our first night in Portland. Oh, man, oh man. I am so glad we ate here! Sometimes I'm a bit indecisive so I decided to go with their beer sampler: a three or four ounce pour of each of the 10 beer on their menu. So unlike some other breweries, you get to taste every single one of their beers and they place them in the proper order of light to dark. And it is so true what they say: the seafood here is like, wow. The Windjammer Mussels, steamed in their-what else-Windjammer Ale, are brothy and savory and they give you a nice slice of grilled, chewy, artisanal bread to mop up all that delicious broth. And, they have a fried calamari greek salad, people! I mean, fried calamari on a bed of greens? The salad part makes you feel a little bit better about indulging in all that fried squid. Sounds good to me.

A fun place to go with the family. Usually a wait to get seated. Food was good, waitresses seemed friendly. I've been here a number of times and the one thing I don't like is the abnormally long wait to get a pint at the bar.

Very full menu with eclectic options including a yummy array of burgers including beef, turkey and turducken; haddock sandwich is great. Meal sized appetizer choices range from lobster rangoon to piled high nachos. River and dam views are fantastic. Outside seating overlooking the rushing water optional. Sunday Brunch: aside from a few sour strawberries, mealy shrimp, errant flies circling, noisy spacious factory setting and some items cooled and dried from standing too long, the Sunday brunch buffet is really terrific. This week we had crab-packed crab cakes with a side of light dill sauce, eggs benedict, made to order omelets, carving station, crostini with mushrooms, salads, BBQ lasagna, lovely fruit crepes, chowder, multiple and assorted desserts and excellent coffee.

It was a nice meal. Judging from reviews, probably should have ordered better. Don't you hate it when your friends spring restaurants on you when you don't have time to yelp them first? The outside porch was really nice on a summer night, but bring something to shield you from the 'skeeters. Still itching!

Slow, under staffed. Waited 20 minutes after being seated to order. No water at seating or for 20 minutes. 50 waitresses walked by us while sat without food or drink. Awful service. We have been on the road for 6 hours. No sign of a manager in the door and certainly not one visiting table. Fired him/her. Sorry.

The clam chowder is excellent, as is the "Black and Blue" (mix of stout and blueberry beer). The dressing on my Cesar salad tasted too much like mayo for my liking. My partner enjoyed the Blueberry BBQ wings. I knocked off a star for the price. Drinks were reasonable at 4 per pint...but our dinner of soup salad and wings rang up a pricey 30+.

2 words: Blueberry Wheat!!! SO good! Came here for dinner when I was in Brunswick and to watch the Red Sox game. Pretty good food actually - the vegetarian chili I had was awesome!! They also seem to have a large and involved brunch, which sounds like a great hangover cure. Probably pretty good seafood too. The bf had a fried rock shrimp dish which was HUGE and pretty good also!

Have been to the Seadog twice (given the distance from my place of residence, this is fairly respectable). They do a bang-up job on the blueberry beer, as already mentioned, but their seafood really shines through for those that were actually planning on eating. Order the mussels as an appetizer and you won't need an entree. The lobster roll is good, but a tad bit overpriced. But the breadth of the seafood selections is sure to be able to please your whole party, with or without the beer. Set in an old mill building, the Seadog also has charm. Come for a special night out, or go to watch "the game," hang out with friends, or take the family out. The Seadog can accommodate all. And play a game of Ms. Pac Man for me on your way out.

Sea Dog is a Topsham/Brunswick must-see. The outdoor porch over the river is unbeatable in summer, and one of the only places to eat outside in either town. Really great old black and white photos of the mill on the walls. Their burgers are decent, and the beer is wonderful. Do be warned, though, the blueberry ale is SUPER blueberry flavored, and can be smelled across the table. It's delicious, but it'll knock your socks off. IPA and Summer Ale are also must-trys.

I came here around 10 on a busy Friday night. The bar was crazy and there were only a few tables open. The only downsides to our experience were that we weren't given silverware to start and once we were seated it took about 15 minutes until our server came over. Nonetheless, we got our drinks and appetizer at a reasonable pace. The entrees were pretty standard, haddock and crabcakes (that had more veggies than crab), but overall I would recommend this place, especially for bar-goers or someone looking for a late meal.

We went to Sea Dog on Labor Day evening. No wait. Had outdoor seating overlooking the river. Service was slow and we had a mix up on a few of our orders. Apparently we were there at the end of our server's shift. The food was good though. Loved the Aussie wine I chose and my table mates enjoyed their drinks also. As the sun set, the spiders on the patio came out and were kinda creepy. Overall, the experience was just ok.

We have been here before - we come to Maine every summer - and have always enjoyed it as an above average, fun joint. This time we came with our two kids, and the menu had been revamped - and looked much better. Healthy options, vegetarian items, lots of local products and seafood, and a much "hipper" vibe. The location and decor is still awesome; an old, brick mill with a cozy feel. My wife had a five beer sampler, while I had a black and blue (thanks to Yelp)- blueberry ale & stout mixed. My son had draft root beer and loved it. The clam chowder was voted (by us) best in mid-coast Maine: creamy, with delicious potato chunks and fresh clams. The blackened haddock sandwich was done perfectly, and they allowed us to upgrade to the rice pilaf (excellent). The vegetarian chili was piping hot and tasty, served in a crock. The flavors were amazingly on target. The calamari salad, while decent, was served with horrible, dark, uncrisp lettuce. A big downer. If they fix that gaff, they will truly be five stars. Overall, though, a great place for food and beer - we will be back!

Food is good, but so so fatty. We loved it. Beer flight included so much beer it was totally worth it. Love the Blueberry Wheat and the Apricot Wheat! So tasty! Only problem is that it is a little hard to find. It's in an old factory/mill like building at the very end overlooking the river.

This weekend we stoped here for a few drinks. They said we would have to wait for a deck table so we had a beer at the bar. The bartender was friendly and told us about all their beers. We were given a bowl of snacks too. Now we ate lunch a few hours before this. We got a table and told her we may want food but for now we will just have beers and we will let you know. We sat for 45 mins outside and each time she came out to serve other tables she not once came back to see how we were and if we wanted more beer or something light to eat, etc. I wouldn't go back again, just based on her rudness.

Yay for their blueberry ale! Seadog's is as close as you can get to a Chili's in little Brunswick. Great view, solid food, but far from gourmet.
