They use hydrogenated oil in their Whoopie Pies. Do a google search on hydrogenated oils which are banned in several countries and has been basically described as the worst thing you can put in your body. Companies that use them in their products should be banned because they only have an interest in profit and not the health and well being of the consumer. On a side note these taste like the processed products they are.

The whoopie pies are sold in Market Baskets in NH & MA. They are soooo good. They are big too and the serving says two. I just have a bite here and there so as not to go soo caloric crazy.. The flavors are varied and awesome. IMO the best are coconut and the orange one!!

Some people are infatuated in finding the perfect cupcake. I am infacuated in finding the perfect whoopie pie. Steve's whoopie pies are distributed all over New England, including the great state of Connecticut. That is where I purchased mine. Because they're made in Maine, the one state probably considered to be the center of the whoopie pie universe, I was expecting a little bit better quality. I thought Steve's whoopie pies were a little bit too sugary/sweet. I felt like I was eating a candy bar and not eating a hand baked item. They weren't bad. But neither were they great. They sort of reminded me of Cranberry Island whoopie pies, but perhaps double in size.

Love these whoopie pies! Always in search of a true tasting pie and these are great! I always hunt them down at Market Basket in MA!

I don't know what the big whoop is about these whoopie pies...I was hugely disappointed when I bit into my red velvet whoopie pie and all I could taste was sugar and more sugar. I swear, if I were doing a blind taste test and you fed me this whoopie pie, I would not be able to tell you if it were vanilla or chocolate or red velvet for that matter. What I could tell you, is that they sure use a lot of sugar! Yes, I'm a food snob! BUT I firmly believe that when you advertise something as "red velvet" it should at least have a hint of that flavor. Take my advice. Skip the calories and skip the whoopie pie. I took one bite and threw it in the trash!
