Good good food. Staff very attentive and helpful with food choices and change ups. They work hard to keep their customers extremely happy. Love my friends which are just like my own family .

I had the pleasure of dining at this quaint pub/restaurant recently. It has a fantastic atmosphere and their website is frequently updated. I had the baked haddock special with a cheese sauce. It was fantastic. The only minor downsides were: -The service was a little slow. Given that I went on a Saturday, it's somewhat expected. -The music was a little loud for a restaurant environment, in my opinion. Overall 4 stars, definitely worth checking out.

Starving, and saw this from the bridge. It was great! We sat on the deck, with stunning views of the river. Basic pub fare: I had very crispy beer battered fish and chips; companions had cocoanut shrimp rolls with nicely spicy dip and a hamburger. Decent beer list, but we were driving. Waitress was cheery and helpful.

Chicken wings, all flavors are yummy. The haddock chowder was ok, not very thick. He fried lobster was crisp and fresh. Be prepared for relaxed service. Get seated, relax, and be prepared to be on Skowhegan time. If you are rushed, go back when you have time.

Food was great, atmosphere was great! They had a 30 person reservation that night and still got us in quickly, staff was freindly and beer was delicious.

We were traveling back from Quebec and as was were driving through Skowhegan my wife said didn't you want try out that bar? So guess what, we did..lol. We didn't have anything to eat, but looking at the food trays passing by I would stay the food looked great. We both had a microbeer from Oak Pond Brewing any they too were great. The whole experience was very favorable and when leaving we both said we are going to make a trip back just to visit when the weather is better so we can enjoy the deck. I see by the other reviews we are not alone.

Passing through Skowhegan, (New Balance Factory store nearby ) it was time for a quick lunch. My Ruben sandwhich took a while to come out. They appologized for the wait as the first Ruben had an unfortunate landing. That aside I had the hand cut fries with my sandwich. There was more on my lunch plate than I could eat. It is a good casual place to enjoy a drink and a meal. They could tend to some housekeeping. I would have given the Old Mill Pub a four star rating had it been cleaner. With this said, I would visit again.

Took the scenic route from Quebec City to coastal Maine and stopped here for a (once again) very late lunch. Not busy because of the off-time, had a seat on the deck...while it's not the most scenic river view owing to the dam the sound of rushing water goes well with my slurping the local brew. Nice big fat burgers definitely spoilt my dinner for me. Wouldn't make a special trip here (it IS a bit out of the way of just about anything) but was a nice stop.

Really enjoyed this place. Good food (missing some traditional pub food) but other than that good beer, good atmosphere.

Happened to run into this place while on vacation at North Country Rivers, and I'm glad we did. Talk about service! The lady that served us, I wish I could remember her name was extremely good at her job. She was so attentive, that she could sense when we didn't like something (was my fault) and without us having to say anything she would make sure to right the situation. It's rare that people pay enough attention to notice, take the time to do something about it, and do so without you having to take the first step. That folks, is what customer service is all about. Very friendly establishment, and the food was plentiful and tasty. The place was packed - seemed to be the only restaurant serving food in the immediate area but we were seated right as we walked in which was a nice surprise. I took the time to tell the manager about our experience because our waitress was that good, and he was genuinely happy to hear how well his staff was treating their customers. Nothing worse when you can tell a manager doesn't care. It starts from the top! I'll definitely be coming back when we visit North Country Rivers again, based on service alone. Everything else was a bonus.

The server was very pleasant and showed us to a good seat out on the deck with a great view of the Kennebec River. Unfortunately that was the highlight of the meal. We both ordered turkey club sandwiches on rye, although my companion got the standard "chips" and I got the onion rings. My companion asked for verification that the potato chips were made fresh in the kitchen and the server honestly revealed someone else, somewhere else, made the chips and they fried them. I should have asked the same about the onion rings which came with a $1.50 upcharge to replace the chips. The sandwiches were very mediocre with a couple of slices of turkey loaf, a scant slice of tomato and some thin lettuce. The bacon was undercooked and very fatty. The rye bread was good. The chips were over fried and tasted like they had been previously frozen. But they shone compared to the onion rings. The rings were obviously factory made frozen rings like you can find at any low class fried food emporium. For this culinary catastrophe, I had to pay extra? Very disappointing. The pickle that came with each sandwich was good. I won't return no matter how nice the view is.

Love this place till today. We ordered our meals had a glass of wine and my husband had a beer. Thirty five minutes later my husband checks on my salad. Waitress runs it out and says the food is up. Almost forty minutes the food comes and is really good. I'm a slow eater. So when I'm done and waiting for a good fifteen minutes for our waitress to drop the check something is wrong! Finally we got up with our food to be wrapped and walked in off the deck. Low and behold the waitress is sitting next to the bar on her phone texting. I told the other waitress we were forgotten and can't believe she was on her phone. She apologized but we are still upset. Thumbs down for service but good food.

Took an hour and fifteen minutes to get our food. Food was ordinary at best. This is one of the few games in town for an above average dinner I'm told. It was the poorest excuse for a fish taco I've ever had. Lame beer and whiskey selection. I'd give it one star if not for a pleasant, if a little flustered server. My company was good though.
