We had a great dinner delivered to us! We had sesame chicken and general tsos chicken. The crab Rangoon was great too! The food was fresh and hot and the lady who we placed our order with was very nice as was the delivery driver. Will definitely order it again when we are in town next!

I ordered a dinner combo; Orange chicken, beef teriyaki, fried rice & vegetable soup for delivery. It was Friday night at 6:30pm & the food arrived just 30 mins later. The deliverydriver was very polite & pleasant. The food was a little pricey, there was a $2.00 charge to get beef teriyaki instead of chicken teriyaki. The total came to $15 & change. The food was great, nice & hotwith a lot of chicken. I couldn't finish it myself. I'll def order from here again!

I was looking for a new Chinese place when I moved to the area but was unhappy with the options I found. Everything lacked flavor or was too greasy. Then I found Happy Garden. I stopped looking. Their dinner platter specials are an amazing deal. Appetizer, entree, side of fried rice & soup all for $10! And the portions are plenty big. I always have some left over. I've only had delivery but their drivers are always prompt & friendly. Cashew chicken, General Tso, Chicken Fingers are all amazing. Lo mein also delicious but can get greasy on occasion.

American-style Chinese food. Only thing really missing from menu is spareribs (they do have BBQ boneless pork, but it's not quite the same.) Happy Garden offers Cantonese, Hunan and Szechuan style dishes. I recommend the Pu-pu platter as a good sampler to their appetizers. The dinner combos are a good value. Happy Garden offers good portion sizes and most dishes are not overly greasy. The staff is friendly. Delivery is offered to Cape Elizabeth, Old Orchard Beach, Portland, South Portland, Saco and (of course) Scarborough. They are open 365 days/year including all holidays.

We once frequented the Happy Garden, particularly for their crab Rangoon. In fact, we still receive phone calls asking how our experience was, even if it's been a year since the last time we ate there. Well, we stopped in Sunday for old-times sake and ordered General Tso's with some Crab Rangoon. Still delicious! The best part is how friendly the staff is. We had some nice conversations with them about moving from New York and their friends/family who are still there. Make Happy Garden your neighborhood Chinese join. I hear they deliver!

Really good American Chinese food. We ordered a pupu player, hot and sour soup and pork fried rice. Classic standards of mainstream Chinese food. Each dish was better than average and cooked with much less oil than is typical. Topping his off they deliver anywhere in Scarborough. This combines to make me happy, happy.

We live about 30 minutes from Happy Garden, but it is the only place we order Chinese. Large portions, not overly greasy, VERY friendly staff, and consistantly good. My wife and I usually split the lunch special for General Tso and get some extra egg rolls. Have also had garlic chix. Although we have eaten at the tables, I think you'd agree takeout is the way to go. We'll be back a couple times each month or so when we need our salt fix.

The Happy Garden, where only smiles bloom! Great food that is always consistently tasty and fresh. My toddler son just loves the veggie lo mein and it's casual enough where he can be himself. Limited seating. Take out and delivery.

The food was solid good! After spending a nice day in Portland, I headed down US 1 into Scarborough and stopped at Happy Garden for Chinese takeout to enjoy along my trip home. This "not so fancy" place is cozy which is order at the counter with self serve seating on each side of the counter, the left side of the dining room seems to be cooler. Happy Garden serves up the standard Chinese dishes including Cantonese, Hunan, Szechuan, and Polynesian dishes. They offer 33 Lunch Combinations ($6.95 each) served with pork fried rice (or white rice) and 17 Dinner Combinations ($9.50 each) served with pork fried rice & choice of soup. Family dinners and healthy dishes also served here. See the menu at happygarden.webs.com/men… I ordered the D18 Cantonese Lo Mein ($9.50) with Chicken Fingers, Egg Roll, & Hot & Sour Soup. The food was cooked fresh to order with quick and friendly service. The portion of hot food was pretty generous! The lo mein dish was very good with nice flavors, yet a simple & fresh dish, which had thin noodles cooked soft and tossed with good amounts of boneless chicken, cabbage, carrots, and onions. The pork fried rice was decent, which was a brown color with onions and pork. The egg roll was wide, stuffed with cabbage & ground pork. The boneless chicken fingers were hot and crispy. The hot & sour sauce was spicy which had eggs, tofu, mushrooms, fungi, peppers, and bamboo roots. There was enough food for two nights of dinners. Happy Garden definitely gets a solid 4 stars! NO AMEX accepted

This is truly my favorite Chinese takeout in the Greater Portland area. The veggies are plentiful, the appetizers are very solid (crab rangoon is a favorite, and the eggrolls are exactly what I want when I want an eggroll), the prices are very reasonable for the portions you get, and they are very reliably fast and accurate with orders. The General Tso's (chicken, beef, and especially tofu) is excellent, and while there have been a few incarnations of the recipe, the hot and sour soup has always been delicious. The lunch and dinner combos are a really good deal (usually two or more meals come from one combo for us), especially since the soup is so worth getting.

This place is worth a try! I went in to get some food for a family get together. I got vegetable lo mein, beef moo shu, and chicken fingers. Everything was very good but the chicken had a bit too much batter. It's not too expensive either and has lots of variety I would definitely go back!

I've been ordering from here for many years. Happy Garden is good for take-out but small and uninspired for eating in if you want the experience of dining out. The food is consistently good and the service is friendly.

We got there pretty late on a Saturday night, to get takeout, but the food was prepared super duper fast and it tasted delicious - we had the sesame chicken and boneless ribs as entrees. They included soup with both orders which was excellent! The food was piping hot for the whole time of our travel (appx 15 minutes) and then some. Yum! The atmosphere in the place isn't all too fabulous, considering they were blasting 90's German hits and two booths had been taken over by their paperwork. Would probably not dine in, but the food completely makes up for it. The only downside is that our waitress didn't include any utensils with our meal. I luckily asked for chopsticks, but you can't eat soup with chopsticks, now can you? So be sure to always ask for the utensils you need - they may not include them with the order.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
