Subpar. Raw cabbage in a burrito about sums it up. Not super welcoming, especially to young kids. Server was friendly but running around a lot. I'm not planning to head back unless it's to have a drink on the patio and eat some chips.

Stopped in for appetizers with the kids. Fabulous guacamole, queso, nachos and churros. The service was excellent!!

I am a local to the area and I have eaten at this restaurant a few times and the service has been less than desirable but I had given the benefit of the doubt because the food was good until now. 2 of us arrived with only 2 tables of people there, placed our order and waited. A party of 8 and a part of 10 arrived and 45 min after we arrive all the other tables were served and we still had no food and no interaction from the owner or the waitress. I finally ask where our food was and the answer was 10 more minutes. After 1 hour of waiting. I asked to cancel my order and the only response I got was "ok sorry about that" not even an offer to comp our drinks to stay because my husband was coming and would've ordered a meal and drinks too. Just awful service and no customer appreciation at all. Pretty pathetic.

This little eclectic place was a delight. I had a blueberry margarita which was actually pretty good. It was just as it sounds, a margarita with a hint of blueberry. Since we were in a coastal town I had seafood enchiladas and my husband had scallop tacos. Both were excellent. The complimentary house made salsa was a little underwhelming, not bad just plain. But overall I would recommend.

The Blue Sky has a fun and colorful atmosphere both inside and out. If you are hoping to find some good Mexican food this place will not disappoint. I rarely indulge in fries smothered in all manner of high calorie fixings but these were unique with the queso sauce and garlic - lots of garlic. I enjoyed them but not the garlic aftermath that followed. For dinner I ordered the taco salad with shredded chicken which was delicious. No need for an appetizer with this order, it is more than enough on it's own! The fish tacos are also highly recommended. Of course I can't go to a Mexican establishment without having a margarita or two - the Blue Sky was my favorite. Great place for kids too!

It's good for what it is -- Mexican food made in Maine. It's just not anything special. The meat was seasoned well, but there were no tamales on the menu. Also, queso was not offered as an appetizer. It's just my opinion, but I just feel like these are things a good Mexican restaurant should offer.

I was staying next door for a conference two weeks ago; it was my first night after checking in and I had seen signs driving into the parking lot that read, "tacos," "enchiladas," "burritos." Was there a restaurant nearby? Was the hotel serving Mexican food around back? No! The Blue Sky Cantina was across the parking lot. Keep in mind, it was a Tuesday night in Rockport in early May well before the tourists arrive. The fact that the place was even open was a positive. Entering a nicely decorated dining room, I asked if there was a bar and was directed upstairs. After a brief wait, I was greeted by Ron, the owner. In a few minutes, I was sipping a margarita and viewing an interesting Mexican-inspired menu. I've been on a fish tacos kick of late. No fish tacos, but the special that night was drunken shrimp tacos. I ordered them, along with a second margarita. The upstairs eating area where the bar is, also has about 10 booths and tables. There were only a few other diners that night. Ron told me that Jen, his wife, cooks, and that the two of them have owned the place for a few years. They had moved to Maine after owning a number of other restaurants out west. When living in southern California, Jen perfected her Mexican dishes. This was good Mexican food, especially in a very gringo state like Maine. My drunken shrimp tacos were excellent. The sides of Mexican rice and refried beans went well with my main course. The side of guacamole that I ordered was homemade and excellent. My wife and I make our own and once you make your own, you never want anything that's not made in-house. Ron was an interesting guy and I enjoyed chatting him up. We talked about online reviews and sites like Yelp, and the uneven reviews. I could tell Ron wasn't very fond of the reviews on sites like this one. I explained it's the nature of the world that we're in. I'm happy to give a very solid 4-star review. The food was really good, served with care and an authenticity not usual for this part of Maine. The prices were reasonable. When Ron asked me what I'd rate the restaurant, I told him 4-stars. The reason I told him is that a 5-star restaurant in my opinion is reserved for those special places, and I think he understood. Definitely a place I'd visit again when in the area.

Decent Mexican and great service. It can be tough in the winter to find someplace open early and on Mondays. This place fit the bill after a matinee in Rockland. Margaritas are nice and strong. Salsa was very fresh tasting, although no kick to it. I had the combo with a chicken flauta and a spicy shrimp taco. The fresh green salsa that came with it was yummy. Husband had a been and cheese burrito that was immense and tasty. (Of course I had a bite or two. He was never going to finish it on his own!). Overall a good pick.

Finally someone who gets it and does it right. This is the best Mexican food I have had since I have moved to New England from California back in May of 77 . Blue Sky Cantina is great. It is real Mexican food, not the fake corporate heat and serve, or we ll make something up and call it Mexican style food. This is not Tex-Mex, Caribbean-Mex or Central American-Mex, it is get in your face authentic Mexico/Baja-Mex. Fresh homemade fresh ingredients great Mexican food. You have many choices of meat to choose from, or vegetarian if you want. The portions are a good size, so you can bring some home if it s too much. The salsa is fresh made as is the guacamole which us made to order. If you like pork, try the Carnitas, it is made correctly. It is not pot roast pulled seasoned and put on your plate. It is cut correctly, season then cook right, crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. My wife had vegetable burrito and said it was the best she has had since moving here from Colorado. Do yourself a favor and go visit Ron the owner who will present you with the best authentic Mexican food. Who would have thunk, the best Mexican Food in New England ( this includes New York City) is here in Rockport ME.

Food was good. Really tasty actually. I had the butternut squash enchiladas with chicken added and I was pleasantly surprised. The interesting thing was there were only two tables seated - ours and one other larger party but the waitress still kept forgetting about us! Oh well, we were amused - eventually she took our order and brought our drinks. Good thing we weren't in a rush. :-)

have been a few times. Food has been good, and prices are good as well. Never have to wait for a dinner which is good and service is fair (nothing special) desserts are lacking!

The first time we visited the restaurant on 8/12/12 was ok. So we thought we would give it another try on 8/19/13. I ordered the seafood enchilada and it was very good, my wife's chicken salad was good, but very little chicken. The kicker was the 2 ounce shot of Patron silver for 10 bucks! Other posts complain about water dinks. Stick with beer.

THE best fish tacos ever. We also tried potato & butternut squash enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. These are truly amazing. I have always enjoyed traditional cheese enchiladas, but this is a dish worth our hour plus drive. Both dinners come with nicely spiced black beans and rice that was moist and fragrant, definitely not dry or boring like many Mexican restaurants. The black bean pumpkin soup is a winner and is served with a little sour cream and pumpkin seeds on top.

I was here on a monday night in the beginning of november.. it was pretty empty so the service was great. It seems to be a pretty small place, with cool decor. i read somewhere that the owners have travelled all over mexico, and it shows in the food! i never thought i'd get amazing mexican as north as Maine, but i was WRONG! the quacamole and salsas were DELICIOUS (they have a few different salsas... the mild was very flavorful, and the medium wasn't too spicy but had kind of a smoky flavor.. delicious! the chips were a mixture of corn and flour, and were fresh-seeming and yummy! as an appetizer we got the chicken wings and they were PERFECT. . seriously ive never had chicken wings that great before. they were moist on the inside and crispy on the outside! and the honey chipotle sauce was to die for. really amazing flavor on those. their sangria wasn't house-made so we skipped that one, my partner went for a combo plate which was decent but i got the supremo burrito (thats probably not the name they give it but its similar). this thing is MASSIVE!! and WOW!! best burrito i've ever had! nevermind the fact you have to eat with a fork and knife.. the carnitas-like pork in a green sauce they top it with is spot on, and it really just is a fantastic meal. if i get to come back here i am DEFINITELY coming back to blue sky cantina!

When we travel to this part of Maine we have truly enjoyed stopping in at the Blue Sky Cantina. This trip was no different. Our table was great, our server was friendly, fast and helpful. We started with frozen Margaritas with blue salt. Honestly, they were a far cry from the best we've had however the chips and salsa made up for it and then came our entrees and all was forgotten! Hubby ordered shredded beef tacos, re fried beans and rice. He said it was excellent. I had the evening's special - grilled ahi tuna tacos with blueberry melon and cucumber salsa. This came with black beans and rice. It was delicious! As we sat at our table we enjoyed the festive Mexican decor and noted that we couldn't see any dust on any of the knick knacks - makes a person feel a bit more secure in where they are eating when there are no cobwebs hanging over head! Yup, we'll be back!

I've visited Blue Sky Cantina a number of times over the recent years. Most recently I visited with one of my girlfriends and the food was still just as delicious as my initial visit years ago. I had the Chimichanga, which I highly recommend. The decor inside the restaurant is on par too. Despite the food being very good, I must say the wait for our food was a little long and the waitress was unable to give us a lot of attention due to the business of the restaurant. I think an extra person on their wait staff could have made the experience more positive.

This is listed as a bar, but it's a restaurant with delicious Mexican food. We loved our nachos with shredded beef and a side of guac (basic, not wow). Then, my mom had a combination platter. She especially liked the chicken tacos. Two of us had burritos smothered with green enchilada sauce, which is my favorite. Carnitas were tasty, as was the chicken. They were so big, we each took half home. The waiter was a young kid who was very patient with a grumpy member of our party. I look forward to going back...the little patio area is cute.

We were staying at the Country Inn across the parking lot and had a craving for some Mexican after nothing but seafood during our monthlong vacation up the East coast. We sat out on the patio, which was really nice with a great bar. The owner came by and helped with the menu and the server was very pleasant. Nice beer and wine selection. Seven different house made salsas. The chips were good. We shared the pork chili verde plate, which was delicious. Really hit the spot.
