I've never been so profoundly affected by a burger. Their 100% certified angus beef (when cooked medium rare) is a devilishly succulent, flavor brimming paragon of all that a burger should be. It dripped with juicy goodness, but not in the repulsive manner that a backyard cookout 80/20 frozen patty would. For a brief moment in time, this burger was my everything. I lost the ability to articulate my feelings with any sort of prose. After a mere 3 minutes had passed, the burger had vanished from its original form, reincarnating itself as a warm feeling of serene pleasure at the pit of my stomach. Immediately, I became despaired. This ephemeral enjoyment would not come again, as I was only to be in Portland for a day. Fortunately, the adeptly salted French fries and pesto aioli comforted me while I waited for the bill. The epitome came shortly after; I would have to share this beauty of a burger, and the experience of eating it, with the world. Seriously, 5/5 would nom again.

First time I'm writing a review. I went to this place because I read the reviews on Yelp and it looked decent. We arrived around 1pm on a Sunday (labor day weekend) and the place was almost empty. We had chowders (lobster & clam), lobster roll and lobster salad and some kid's meals for my daughters. Overall, food was ok. We ended up at this place because my kids were hungry but if I have had more time I would have chosen another restaurant.

Killer Honey Sriracha wings and specialty cocktails. Great service at the bar. I'll go back for the farm stand salad with goat cheese cakes.

Stopped in here for lunch while we were wandering around Portland. The food was not very impressive. The clam chowder was bland and could have easily come out of a can. The garlic bread was plain but fine. The steak bomb was just meh. Also, the ambiance was kind of weird. It was a strange mix between very casual in some aspects and then more stylish in other aspects (lights). The staff was also kind of strange. People kept checking in on us (more than necessary) but then in the background the bartenders (who had nothing to do because it was lunch time) were being loud and annoying. Won't be back.

Staff GREAT! Owner GREAT! (He talks a lot)! Food-Good. I ate here twice with several co-workers. A few of them loved it and insisted we go back the rest thought it was average. I dig the feal comfortable but upscale. Beautiful corner in town.

Ok. Walked up the ramp to their outside seating area. I didn't see any signs saying "see wait staff for seating," so we had a seat in the sun. We sat there for five minutes. The hostess noticed us but started washing the window looking at us from the inside. No service. We got up and went somewhere else for a cold beer and great service. "Update..7/26/12. Walking by they now have a hostess stand at the end of the ramp. It is a great deck for some snacks and cocktails. I may have to try again.

Amazingly yummy. I had the veggie burger and it was easily the best veggie burger I have ever had. They make the burger hand made...not out of a box. The bread was fresh and fries were great!

45 minutes to get our food!! We ordered fish sticks and chips, veggie burger, chicken strips, quesadilla and truffle fries. Waiter came by around 30 minutes after we ordered and said he checked on our food and that it was coming shortly. After 45 minutes I went up to the waiter and asked what the hold up was. He said that they recently has to let go of a few people in the kitchen. Our food did come out after that but to our disappointment. The fish sticks had peas and some other red stuff in them. The veggie burger did not seem to have a bottom bun and seemed to be microwaved. The chicken strips did not seem freshly made and seemed like they had been sitting out under a heat lamp for awhile. The truffle fries were just garlic and Parmesan fries (no truffle). The manager did take half off the food bill which was nice of her but we did only eat half our meal due to the quality of it. The manager said the long wait was because too many people were out on vacation. Ultimately we are not sure what took the food so long and why it seemed like the food was microwaved or had been sitting under a heat lamp. Wish we would have eaten elsewhere

Just average. There was nothing that really stood out about this place. The bartender, who waited on us, was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, but the food was average. One thing I didn't appreciate was the waitress who had no one to wait on so she sat at the bar (we were the only ones eating inside) and talked loudly and had inappropriate conversations with the other staff. Even the bartender looked mildly annoyed. There are better places in the Old Port to eat.

My wife and I were in over the weekend. I had the lobster fettuccine which was okay, she had a turkey burger which made her get sick later on that evening. We won't be back.

One of the best places we tried and will return to! Both my boys loved their simle dishes and cleaned their plates! My wife had the mussels and loved their garlic wine sauce (wanted even more garlic flavor- hint hint) I loved my burrito. Big, moist and full of fresh ingredients as well as flavorful! Nice wine list also! Excellent wait service!!!!!

I ate here with a client -- I hadn't been since it was the former Sebago Brewing Company (which moved). It's a nice place, great location, and the staff was friendly. The food was okay -- nothing especially exciting, but not bad either. All in all, I doubt I'll be back -- there's so many better places in such close proximity!

I've loved this place since it opened. The wings were amazing, the staff was very attentive and friendly, the food was fresh and best of all, priced perfectly. I went tonight (this was a couple of months ago now - the draft was saved through my Yelp App and I'm just now getting around to posting) and it will certainly be the last. Those amazing wings are now strips of breast meat, the prices inflated and my Swordfish Club was small, cooked terribly and anything but fresh. Even my beer was over priced! The staff was great but I couldn't figure out why the entire dining room was empty at 7:15pm on a Friday night... then the sandwich arrived. It was hard to see at first through the monstrosity of fries but alas, it was dwarfed there by my pickle spear. I am so glad I didn't order an entree. My "Swordfish Club" was $11 a.k.a. $4 more than it should be. And over $6 for a 16oz draft beer? And you call that a "Tall"!? Is the small served in a sippy-cup!?

I will tell you to preface, the wife and I were heading out to lunch today and were looking for somewhere that we have not been and we were not disappointed when we meandered into this restaurant. It was great when I checked into the restaurant I received a free appetizer of fresh chips and salsa with the order of two entrees/sandwiches. The decor is kind of hip meets beatnik with really cool hanging lights above the bar area with an assortment of beverages to partake in behind the bar. The taps had all kinds of fare with SeaDog, Allagash and Shipyard rounding out the 10 or so keg toppers. The hostess was very nice and friendly and sat us where we wanted to and the server was attentive enough to meet all of our needs. I ordered the free chips and salsa, of course, and then a bowl of the lobster chowder that was very rich and tasty with a good amount of lobster meat in the chowder unlike so,me places that make you have the need to go in with a magnifying glass to find the tasty crustacean. We then got our meals, since it was lunchtime, my wife ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich that was both tasty and hearty that came with thin cut french fries on the side. I received the fresh seasonal fruit salad with fresh greens, thinly sliced onions, sliced granny smith apples, sunflower seeds and a very light yet tasty vinaigrette. You could see by just these lunch dishes that the kitchen cared about what they were sending out to us. A lot of restaurants care a ton for the dinner menu and forget that the lunch crowd carries just as much weight. The music was played at the right level with an assortment of todays hits with some salsa mixed in so it was a nice touch to a wonderful lunch with my wife. I recommend this place if you are looking for a good bite to eat with a nice decor and feel to the place.

Ok- so the location is awesome. The decor is cute with funky white globe lighting, nice, roomy outdoor seating area, and romantic tea lights. Our waiter was friendly but not overly helpful and we only saw him once or twice. Now- the food. I ordered the bistro steak which was served with mashed potatoes and veg of the day ( squash and zucchini). $22. My friend ordered the steak tenderloins, covered in blue cheese and grilled onions, also served with mashed potatoes and veg of the day. $26 The food arrived quickly, but the plating was a little strange with everything separated. The bistro steak was delicious, very tasty sauce, and cooked exactly how I had asked. But it was cold?! As were the mashed potatoes (which tasted like instant), and the very very bland veg of the day. My friends's plate was also cold and just as tasteless. I would be willing to give this place another try? Maybe, possibly? Will see?

The food is good but overpriced with small portions. We had a group of 11 and our waitress was completely unprepared to handle it. Food took forever to come out. The worst part is that our waitress added in a tip on top of the automatic 20% gratuity that was added due to our group size. For my $135 check our waitress took a $50 tip!!! The management is fixing that situation but I hate that she even got 20%! She did not deserve it. We were an easy group but all left unhappy. I should also note that we had a reservation. They were not ready for us even though the restaurant was empty. I will not return.

rounding up for 3.5 stars... better than average, but not anything amazing. A late evening in Portland brought me to the doorsteps of White Cap Grille. Now, for some, 9:45 isn't late, but in Portland, ME, it is; many restaurants I wanted to try had already closed the doors. I was tired, hungry, and ready to eat. The menu offered a nice variety of dishes, but there was nothing that stuck out as something I just had to try. We spotted a nice seat out on the patio, which offered an intimate yet casual dining experience on a beautiful August evening. I ordered the muscles for an appetizer, as it seemed that was a popular dish. I was disappointed when I found several unopened, and the ones that were open had sand in them. The rest of my meal was alright: The lobster chowder was very rich, thick, and tasty. The salad was fresh, but nothing spectacular. The haddock was delicious, but the rice served with it had a metallic taste. Overall, not a bad place. But I am not sure I would go back again.

If you are looking for a bite and a drink in a convenient location you may be satisfied here. If you are looking for great food and/or great service you might be disappointed. You are paying a premium for the downtown location, but the food and service leave something to be desired. We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed sitting outside on a nice summer day. The food was very mediocre and the prices a bit steep. My ($12) veggie burger was bland and mushy as was the bun it was on. My husband enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich. Our waiter never checked on us after dropping off the food (I wanted mustard and never got it), and it took 2 requests and 15 minutes to refill my water glass despite business being very slow. There was only one other table seated outside, and just a few full tables inside. I wouldn't return for a meal, but it could be a good place to grab a drink and a snack at the bar.

We were very pleased with our visit to White Cap Grille. Originally we had another place in mind however they did not have an open table for two hours! So we ventured on and stumbled upon this restaurant. We sat outside, even though it was raining (covered patio)! Our server was very prompt and courteous. The owner even strolled around to each table handing out homemade whoopie pies, woa!! We each ordered the build your own burgers and were very happy. Great place with a cozy atmosphere and affordable meals. A+! Now if only I could get the whoopie pie recipe....

Decent, but should have been better. Local food cooked fresh sounded great, but it didn't quite live up to the hype. We originally went here because of the bouillabaisse which was advertised online AND on the sign in the window. Then we found out that they no longer serve it. The waitress was apologetic (and it wasn't her fault), but it was a disappointment. The food was all right, but nothing special. No one in our group of 8 ordered a burger, which from reading the Yelp reviews may be their star dish. The clam and lobster chowders were all right, but I was hoping the bigger bowls would come served in a bread bowl or something. Instead, it was just served in one of those wide, shallow soup bowls that is supposed to look like there's more soup than there really is. The pasta with the house tomato sauce was ok but nothing spectacular. For the price, I expected a bit better than this.

The service is not very good. The food is decent. I had the peaks island and really enjoyed it. My mom had the Caesar salad and wasn't happy. She didn't even finish it. The salad dressing was not very Caesar-ish. I don't think I'll come back. Definitely wish Sebago Brewing Company was still here.

Came here for dinner after it was recommended by a local. The hostess was patient with us, since we wanted to look at a menu before sitting down (I'm a vegetarian so I needed to make sure they had an option or two available for me). We sat outside, and it seemed like there was only one server working for all the tables outside. I get that it was a Wednesday night and they probably don't get too crowded, but when he did get busy he never came by to ask how our food was or offer a refill on water. I had the strawberry goat cheese salad and a small shipyard summer ale. The drink was much bigger than I expected, which I guess is a good thing. The salad was delicious and fresh. My cousin had the lobster roll and practically devoured it. Overall, the food was good, but I'm not sure if I'd make it a point to come back here on my next visit.

Options are limited for vegetarians/vegans, although they do have a different vegetarian option every night. Have to say, I wasn't impressed, I opted for the vegetarian option which was pasta primavera. Seem more like an after thought than a well structured dish. The pasta and veggies were well cooked, but the whole dish lacked the impression that someone actually thought about the food they were cooking and how the flavors mingled. Split the truffle fries, they were perfectly well done. Dining partners both got mussels to their delight. Wait staff was good. Wines were overpriced. White Cap Grille can't do separate checks, they were only able to split the check evenly three ways. They also don't keep track of the special prices as my meal was overcharged. Overall, not a disappointment, but won't be in my 'have to go back' list.

Yikes. Waited fifteen minutes for our server. He came as we were about to leave. Wish we'd left. $40 for a cold, over cooked burger and a flavorless salad with petrified chicken. Strange flavors. We will not be back.

Stopped in with some friends later on a Thursday night. We were 4 of probably 6-8 people in the joint. The music was enjoyable in the background and, not surprisingly, the service was good. We had burgers all around. 2 custom-made burgers, while 2 of us chose the basic cheeseburger....all with the natural meat. Big bonus, in my opinion. (I say, not really knowing much about their standards.) All were ordered medium-rare. I based my 4 star rating on my burger turning out medium. My wife's was medium well/well. Big disappointment for her, as my burger was much better. Based on my research, 75% of their burgers turn out cooked medium or less when asked for medium-rare. Also, sweet potato fries were delicious.

Nice looking place, with a decent menu... Not very playful, but goes with some classics with a tiny twist here and there. We started with the flatbread. It had a pesto sauce which was delicious! Then ordered the Lobster chowder ... Very nice, with an amazing garlic bread on the side. My wife got the house salad with the skewered shrimp. Nice drink selection, nice waitress.

I found everything about this establishment to be average at best. From the standard issues beer selection to the cookie cutter menu options everything was just okay. The service was fine and they did a nice job with the decor but with all of the competition in Portland there wasn't anything about my experience that would bring me back.

The wait for a food was a bit ridiculous, going on 30 minutes. The place is not that busy.

We made a reservation for Sunday night, but they weren't super busy around 6pm anyway. The menu is geared more towards lunch, but they had a summertime menu that featured dinner items - steaks & seafood. If you're a Guiness fan they have it here! - and it's cheaply priced at $4 and change for a small. We ordered the Steak Tenderloins and Chicken Caprese Sandwich, with the Bumbleberry Crisp for desert. Everything was delicious and came out of the kitchen quickly. The steak was cooked exactly as it was ordered and the sandwich was very good. The shoestring fries were very good as well - not just salty but there was another flavoring on there such as garlic. The build-your-own burger looked intriguing, and I think we will try that if we go back for lunch sometime. I found it to be a bit pricey and I found it odd that there were no pasta dishes on the menu, which is why I gave it 3 stars. If they were to add more dinner items to the menu, and increase the local beer selection, then I would be ok with spending $60 on dinner with 2 drinks. Bottom line here - the food was good, and the service was quick. Extensive wine, beer and cocktail list and nice outdoor seating.

We decided to check out White Cap as we had heard good things and had never been. We arrived around 8 on a Wednesday evening to find the place rather dead. That was surprising to me as every other spot we passed was packed! We ordered the fried dumplings for an appetizer and these were very good. For dinner I ordered the Carbonara pasta and added mushrooms - it was very good. The serving size was great - I could not finish my portion, and had enough to share. My dinner guest ordered the tenderloin, and he said to was great as well. I would like to check this place out for lunch as they had a nice selection of burgers and sandwiches, but I was in the mood for a normal entree at dinner time. If the weather was cooperating I would have sat outside as they have a nice covered patio area.

For a grill in the old port the flavors were boring and the staff inattentive and downright bored. I ordered the swordfish club sandwich and it was a swordfish steak on a bulky roll. the squid was cooked well but bland and needed the Thai dipping sauce in order to have any real flavor. The drinks were fine but many places in the old port can serve fine drinks. There was simply nothing special about this place. oh, there was something interesting about this place it has a sign for a different restaurant in front of the building.

Went here because it's been around a while and we could get in on Friday night. It did not take long to figure out why. The waiter was a drone and had no personality. He also did not know the menu. We ordered calamari which was served with a teriyaki sauce. This was a nasty combo. Not too mention skimpy. We then had fish and chips which came out so greasy and brown. Indicating to me that perhaps they should change the oil. Overall not impressed. There are way too many places to eat in Portland to go here again

My wife and I decided to try something different than our usual favorites. My wife had chowder and a beet salad which was good. I had a salad and almond crusted haddock. Haddock is a very abundant fresh fish in the Old Port. Mine was extremely overcooked, dry, and flavorless like frozen fish....probably was. I'm kind of doubting that it was even haddock. Needless to say, it was very disappointing.

  • Denise W.

My sister and I were visiting the area and went in - loved it! I can't say enough about how great the food and the service were. We started off both with a lobster chowder which was outlandhishly amazing. I'm not normally one for heavy soups, either, but this was a perfect portion for a first course, and was absolutely so good. We had the seafood bouillabaisse and grilled haddock, respectively, and both were fresh and cooked to perfection. We ended with the maple creme brulee .. the absolute best treat possible. I was, too, surprised as the lack of patrons there. It was a Wednesday night and we had called for reservations, but definitely didn't need them. I hope that people really head this way because all of that, plus a bottle of wine and some salads, was only a bit above $100. I know there are a million food options in Portland, but this is definitely one of the greats.

Went here for dinner on a wednesday evening and found it to be mostly average with a few highs. Wait staff was good but seemed slightly off perhaps due to the fact they were training several new members. The soups were excelent, but i had the lobster marinara with the optional substitution of white wine sauce. The sauce was bland and too buttery and the lobster was tough. Might consider going back for lunch for just the soup, but the pasta was not worthy of being the most expensive item on the menu.

We hadn't been to this location since it was the former Sebago Brewing but we were looking for a nice sit down lunch place and heard good things from neighbors. The interior was similar to the previous owners with the upstairs being very nice with large windows out on Middle and a side street. There is also a lot of seating downstairs which is essentially a renovated basement, which is fine if you are with a group but for couples try and get seating upstairs. The food menu is casual and perfect for lunch or a lighter evening meal. I think some other reviewers come expecting a Fine Dining experience and this really is not in that category of restaurants. None the less, it is a nice place to take a breather when you are walking about town and the food is good and reasonably priced.

some fun facts about this hot spot... (now that I've eaten there over a dozen times i can suggest some of my favorites) You HAVE to try the salmon entree (mango sauce with it is to die for) along with the veggie burger (hand made and made from heaven apparently)... onion rings (breading is very crispy and light)... and lobster rolls (under $15 you can't go wrong with MAINE lobstah') also - MUST try the lobster risotto cakes... my mouth is watering writing this. hopefully this helps for anyone else that is going for the first time - or wants to try something new there. I'd also highly suggest being apart of their members club - points add up fast and who doesn't love getting a free meal every once in awhile???! Def worth asking your server about.

I used to frequent White Cap, but, in fear of my health...I'll never go there again. Trying to go unnoticed by standing behind the "server podium", my waitress Megan adjusted her underwear before serving my husband and I dinner. Needless to say, we didn't eat any of our food.

We were looking forward to hitting a great place in Portland but this was not the best choice. We should've know by the empty tables when we walked in. Although we were just there for lunch. The food was not good. The caesar salad was warm-ish and the lobster addition was not impressive for a Maine restaurant. All claw meat and not lobster tail. The burgers were ok, nothing special. I asked the server if they had GF beers or hard cider and he brought an apple brew. It is a beer and its not gluten free. The server wasn't that friendly when we first sat down but after some small talk he warmed up to us a bit. Clearly a guy who didn't like his job. I asked the Maitre D for a pen and she gave me a crayon!

This is a new spot that opened up in the old Sebago Brewing location on Middle St in Portland. We stopped in for a cocktail. The bartender was super friendly and made me a new invention of his - a fresh blueberry basil lemonade - it was quite good! He talked a lot about things he'd like to do and ideas he had for the bar in this new establishment - he was great! I looked at the menu and it looked like it had some good offerings, however, I only had the one cocktail. I would def come here again - I have always loved the location - sit at the bar for great people watching out the huge window overlooking Middle!

My boyfriend and I were excited to try this place since we had eaten at the Black Cap Grille in North Conway and it was awesome. But we were very disappointed. We went at around 8:00 and there weren't many people in there so we were seated right away. Our waitress came over and took our drink orders and it took 15 minutes just to get our 2 beers. 15 min is a long time to wait for a drink so we knew what we wanted to order when we finally got our drinks. Service was slow and when I finally got the chicken I ordered it was stone cold. Then we ate and waited and waited and waited for our check. Ridiculous. Not worth the wait especially with all the great restaurants in Portland.

I went there on a Wednesday night. It was not crowded, nice and chill. The waiter got the special wrong, but other than that it was great. I order the daily special swordfish with local rice and veggies on the side. The fish tasted fresh and flavorful. The portion was neither too big like a lot of places nor too small like some snobby places. I was able to sit outside and enjoy the street view of Portland, a laid-back small town with the pride of "buy local" thanks to the nice whether. Their steak was really tasty and tender as well. The sauce on the steak was amazing. My only complaint would be the service: the waiter didn't get the special completed right the first time.

Lobster rice cakes were very good but it pretty much stopped there. Got the quesadillas and the sour cream tasted a little too "sour" if you know what I mean. And to top it off the service sucked. Waiter didn't check on us and was slow. Dropped the check and didn't come back for about 15min. Got a virgin Bloody Mary and it tasted liked there was half a bottle of sour mix in it. Would only recommend for the cakes.

I ate here last week for my third time. It's a solid, brew pub type atmosphere and menu (though it isn't a brew pub). The burgers are some of the best around and the sandwiches looked great too. The girls loved the long martini menu. It's similar to the old Sebago, which I always enjoyed. I worry because I haven't seen this place crowded, and I hope it survives. The owner is the nicest I have ever seen in a restaurant. He has come up to the table on all of my visits making sure everything was ok. Last time he gave us free whoopie pies that his wife made. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Okay, let me say the one star is ONLY for the service and the presentation of one item. I have been here 3 times and the food is 3 star. I came once for apps & cocktails, and twice for dinner. The first two visits were very good-- not exceptional. The food and the service was very attentive and gracious. Tonight's visit though-- not so much. First we were served apps & drinks at the bar by Shane who was an outstanding server, and he received a tip of 25% from me on a $50 tab. Then we moved to the dining room, and at first they seated us downstairs because we wanted some quiet, but they soon asked us to move back upstairs because they were shorthanded and where they said we would receive better service. We obliged. Jessica was our server and she was anything but attentive and she had a bit of an attitude from the onset and we all noticed it. One of my dining companions ordered a veggie burger which was delicious and it came with a side, and my guest chose a side salad for that side and added fries which were priced at $2.55 as an add-on. My other guest ordered a veggie burger with fries while I ordered the chopped salad-- the operative word being "chopped." I have to admit that I am a professional certified chef, but I really enjoy going out and having others cook meals for me, and I love chopped salads because the chopping tool traditionally used (which looks like a pizza wheel with two blades instead of one) fuses all the great flavors in a salad and helps to let everything stay on the fork. My salad came on a plate way too small and some it was falling off onto the table. It consisted of medium to large size pieces of torn Romaine lettuce with two halves of a hard-boiled egg and 4 large red onion rings on top along with some crumbled Bleu cheese & diced tomatoes. Nothing was "chopped." I called our server Jessica over and pointed out that I ordered the Chopped Salad figuring she brought me the wrong item, and she said it was indeed the chopped salad. I asked her what was chopped on it, and she replied; "the tomatoes." What does that mean? Do they normally top their salad with a whole tomato? Nothing else at all was chopped. I guess putting diced tomatoes on it instead of tomato wedges or slices is what makes it "chopped" to their chef. This was a composed salad, not a chopped salad. There is a technique to a chopped salad and every other restaurant where I have ordered one knows how to accomplish this technique. I explained to her that chopped means, well, "chopped." (Even Subway knows how to make a chopped salad.) Jessica offered to cut the salad up for me like I was not capable of doing that myself, and she was rather glib and sarcastic when she said it. I said no thank you and told her to take it back and ordered the grilled portobello sandwich instead, which by the way was really good and arrived exactly as it was described. They really need to either train their pantry cook to chop a salad, or change the menu to call it something other then the "White Cap Chopped Salad." Totally misleading. Then the check came, and our server overcharged me one dollar for the side salad that went with my guest's veggie burger. When I pointed this out to our server, she said she chose to give the fries (which she said was the cheaper side) as the "free side" and instead charged me for the side salad which she said was $1.00 more even thought the menu indicated a cheaper price and it came free with the burger. Seriously.... When I asked her to recalculate the bill the way I placed the order, she did so and deducted the overcharge, but she rolled her eyes and let out a sigh as she walked away. She was totally annoyed which frankly spoiled our entire meal and we left shaking our heads. I typically leave a minimum of a 20% tip for servers as long as the service was pleasant, and I leave 25% for outstanding service, so just to let you know how bad our server was, our bill was $71.00 and Jessica's tip was a five-spot, and she did not even deserve that. I work hard for every dime I earn but I check my attitude at the door when I go to work. I suggest this server do the same.

We were looking for place for a late lunch after a visit to the Portland Museum of Art. We walked by the White Cap Grille and decided to stop and give it a try. I had a lobster roll and a pint, and lunch partner had a Reuben, sweet potato fries, and a glass of wine. The food was very good, and the service was excellent. We enjoyed sitting outside on the deck/porch and watching people passing by. Afterwards, we visited a couple of nearby galleries.

I've been here for lunch twice. The first time I had a burger and it was perfectly fine. The second time I went things were a little different. The service was slow, which I find odd since the place was not busy at all and it was lunch time during the work week. I would expect a downtown establishment to make a little more effort in to keeping things to an hour. I had a burger ordered well done, and my lunch partner ordered a burger medium rare with carmelized onions. It took quite a while to arrive but I chalked that up to my burger needing to be cooked longer. Lunch partner's burger arrived with raw onions. When it was brought to the server's attention, she didn't even apologize. She said "oh" and went back to the kitchen to get the correct onions. When she delivered the bowl to the table, she again did not apologize. Maybe it was the kitchen's fault, but as the 'face' of the kitchen, you should still apologize. My burger was also cooked medium rare. I couldn't even eat around the edges! But I know better than to send food back, so I just ate the fries. I will probably go back to this place as I suspect I'll get outvoted by the group (it's a great location for our downtown office) but I will not be the one suggesting it.

This is a review for lunch. Vibrant and nice location. I sat at the bar and had a nice view to the street. Thought it was interesting they offered 14oz or 20oz beers. The good thing is costs reflect the size - $4.50 for a solid micro brew. Lunch was standard, nothing set it a part. It was enjoyable and decent. I want to try dinner. A groupon/living social deal would get me there as dinner prices are a tad high.

I'd give 3 1/2 stars. Good enough to try but not somewhere I'm running back to. They do make a mean Bloody Mary and you can try one of their house infused vodkas (I think I tried the garlic one?). It was delicious! I had a salad that was lightly dressed and the hubs had a grilled (blackened?) salmon sandwich. Can't quite remember... Which is exactly the point. Good but not memorable.

Enjoyed the ambiance, staff, drinks and dinner in this re-done Portland landmark eatery. Our salads were fresh, beef tips scrumptious and peanut butter chocolate dessert made the calories worth it!

Delicious, healthy, local options. Burgers are custom made and natural organic beef - salmon and turkey available. Amazing lobster roll. Great service. Delicious desserts.

We go here a lot for company wide lunches and I'm not entirely sure why. The decor seems a bit confused - chinese new year style lamps with printouts of maple leaves are probably the highlights. It's a great place, big and open on the first floor - the area just isn't used all that well. The service is mediocre at best... for functions I usually wait at least 30 minutes for a salad, and the few times I've been outside of functions nothing has really stood out. Their soups taste pre-made - overly sweet, salty, and gelatinous, while their salads are a bit boring. I haven't explored the menu much outside of sandwiches, finger food, soups and salads, but judging from what I've had so far with the easy to make foods, it's not encouraging.

I've been here a few times and have never been let down! The food, service and drinks are really great. The margaritas and the sangria are both really good. The margarita didn't have cheap simple syrup that most restaurants use. Oh, and they have mini whoopie pies that they give out as a complimentary gift which is so unique and tasty! I will be going back!

Nice place. The fries were good. Not happy with the chicken pesto sandwich. I'll give this place another try because of the atmosphere, and try a different dish, but not happy the first time.

We just had a couple appetizers. The lobster cakes were decent, garden salad was good and the chili left a lot to be desired. The menu was quite misleading in that the chili didn't have any spice as far as I could tell. It also had a tomato saucey taste. It isn't that hard to make good chili. Too many other great restaurants in Portland to go back here. Not many people there for a Saturday night, now I know why.

My wife and I often choose a restaurant based on where we find a spot to park. We came across White Cap and thought we would give it a try. Our waitress was great - and we found the food better than anticipated. We had pot stickers for an app - and the pastrami sandwich and steak bomb as entrees; all were very good! They have a pretty good loyalty card for locals - we say, give it a go!

My husband and I would NOT recommend going here. Don't waste your money or appetite. The only thing working for this restaurant is its location/ambience and their waitstaff, who were extremely attentive and friendly. Here was our order: Beer- obviously fine. Skinny Margarita- this tasted like water with a hint of tequila floating around and sugar. I figured it was just because it was "The Skinny" so I sent it back and ordered the regular margarita. This was just as terrible, only with more sweetness but just as watered down. Whitewater Wings: The first bite was good, the chicken melted off the bone but then we realized it was so overly cooked, of course it couldn't hang on to the bone anymore. Also, the sauce was oddly flavored. The first bite, again, seemed good and then I realized I recognized the flavor. It tasted extremely close to the Soy Vay marinades you can get at the grocery store. Nothing wrong with those when you are looking for an easy marinade for a week-night dinner... but not for a restaurant. We only ate two. Classic Caesar Salad topped with Coldwater Salmon- This may be the worst Caesar salad I have ever had. I think my college cafeteria's was better. The lettuce was chopped so finely I could barely stab it with my fork. I wondered if maybe it was a store mix? The croutons were house-made but they tasted like a piece of white bread, cubed, and toasted. There was absolutely no seasoning and they were so small they crumbled under my fork's pressure. The dressing was house-made and I think it was ok, except it had a really odd fishy flavor coming through too much. Either that was the salmon (which should never taste oddly fishy) or they used too many anchovies in the dressing recipe. The salmon was awful and also extremely small for $7 additional dollars. I could buy half a pound of Wild Sockeye at Whole Foods for that price. It was overcooked and tasted so weirdly fishy. Now, I know salmon is a fish, but it should not taste like old fish smells. It kind of reminded me of canned tuna. #3 Burger with a side of onion rings- Here's my husband's review: The burger was coated in oil, way under seasoned but cooked perfectly. The onion rings were underwhelming. They just didn't seem properly fried- not exactly soggy but not satisfying. They were probably the best part of the meal. I would be interested to see what Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares would discover behind the scenes in this restaurant. Maybe if the menu could just get a LOT of help, it could be a pretty awesome place. They wouldn't have to get rid of the wait staff and the setting was really nice, with a great variety of seating and wall-to-wall windows, overlooking Portland.
