Typical bar food and getting a bit old inside. The Old Port has many better selections.

36 taps. Best beef chili nachos I've ever had. Great, laid back atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.

A snowy evening in Maine landed us at Three Dollar Dewey's. We were told they had a great selection of beer - perfect for us and we were not disappointed. Many choices for beers on tap and some great local beers. Also have flights if you'd like to sample a few. Free popcorn - delicious - think circus popcorn! Prices are not bad and we shared an app which was pretty delicious too. We ended up hunkering down here for about 4 hours, we could have stayed longer! We will stop by again for sure. Service was great and the bartender Tom was phenomenal.

I like Dewey's. they used to have the best pour in town. Not anymore. Stick to the beer

Just got back from a GREAT meal. I got the prime rib sandwich and boyfriend got the cajun chicken sandwich. Our waitress was super attentive and friendly and we didn't wait long for our food at all. The place looks dirty and crappy from the outside but we were pleasantly surprised. This was our 1st stop in Portland!

Pro: Cheap beer that is descent, only $2 all day on Sunday. Cons: Bad service, the waitress served the group of people their drinks, who sat down after we had ordered ours. I caught her attention to that and then she brought over our drinks, without an apology. I guess for the price, what should I expect?

Huge choice of beer. Better-than-passable food. Cool vibe. Go!

After walking by the first time and seeing the popcorn machine, I knew they had me. Sadly, by the time we'd made it inside, we'd already eaten so I didn't have space in my tummy for any of the chili or the other food that I'd heard about. But I always seem to have room for popcorn :) ... so I had some of that. The beer selection was great, all the wood was fantastic, and the popcorn was perfectly popcorny.

Stopped in for a few beers with the wife and really liked this place. 36 beers on tap and who knows how many more in bottles. I can't say that i remember the names of the beers we tried but most were very good. Get the sample tray - It's a tray with 4 small glasses and you get to choose 4 different beers to try. It's a great way to try some new brews. The bartender was a younger kid and he was helpful in explaining the different beers and was very nice to us. Great place for a few brews !!

  • Josh S.

$3 Deweys is a great watering hole. They have just shy of a million different beers on tap. The hard part is deciding what to try. Only after I left did I hear that I should have tried the around the world approach - one beer from each continent. Watching the playoff game and my ream lose (shouldn't have) almost drove me to drinking that much beer. I had the chili and the nachos. Seemed like the right thing to do with it cold outside and it was perfect bar food. Like some of the others have noted, it is a pretty barren place. You belly up, order what you want, and enjoy the game or chat with friends. Staff seemed friendly enough and I liked that they did not want to pretend to be my best friend until I left.

Liked the ambiance, but the food was blah. Nothing special. Had a pizza and onion rings. Both taste like they came from the freezer. Coke was even watery.

The name sucked me in, I thought they had some sort of $3 deal of some sort to warrant the name. Turns out the Three Dollar in the name has nothing to do with their menu or prices which was disappointing. The story is that fisherman visiting the Yukon would go into town and the ladies of the night would have a sign reading "$1 lookies, $2 touchies, $3 deweys". Funny story but misleading name for a bar. I didn't try their food but the typical pub grub looked pretty good and fresh. They've got a large open space with free popcorn and a gigantic tap selection of over 35 beers (many great local varieties) priced at $4 for most of them. The bartenders are even kind enough to let you sample the beers so you can make up your mind. Definitely a good place in Old Port Portland to grab a couple drinks and try a new beer or two.

This bar is located right in the midst of the Old Port section of Portland and is a great place to stop during or after sightseeing. It has an amazing selection of tap beers and the posted history of the name is quite funny (see my photos). While there, my boyfriend and I ordered local beers, Shipyard Brewing Company Old Thumper and Fuggles, and nibbled on the free popcorn.

  • Rene L.

First went to their original location a few streets away. Always fresh, good food; the chili is a standard to judge others by. Beer selection and bar in general first rate. Wait staff quirky but that's part of the charm. Remember the sign posted: $1 looky, $2 feely, $3 dewey!

This place was nice, great bar. Lots of beer, warm atmosphere, and great Maine pub food. Fried clams, fish and chips, and beer what's not to like?

The food is decent however the people are rude. The first time i went the experience was alright. the food was alight but people were smoking at the entrance. however on my second trip I was on my way to the restaurant after a busy day at my art show to meet my entire family of 11 people. They had been waiting for my show to finish for nearly two hours. I came to the restaurant around 8pm and two people in the front asked me for an ID. They did not look like they worked there as they were in crappy clothing and were smoking. Of course i am underage so I told them my entire family waiting in there for me including my 12 year old brother and my toddler cousin. They still refused to let me in. This whole situation was not worth it and I will most likely not go again.

Can't wait to get back there. It's been about 6 years since I've been to Dewey's, but they had an amazing beer menu and easily the best bowl of chili that I've had. Ever. Seriously.

  • Kelly O.

Excellent selection of beer, cheap drink prices, and free popcorn... but overall, meh. Nachos were decent, although a bit on the pricey side and the chef burnt our first batch so we had to wait extra long. Not the best service in the world, we were definitely underwhelmed especially since we were practically the only people in there. I'd go back for the beer and popcorn, but would skip any kind of meal option.

I totally love this place. I'm from Boston (don't hold it against me) and i came back here 2 weekends in a row. I am a huge fan of local pubs, and this place felt right. From the self-serve popcorn to the bar food, all the way to the local brews & atmosphere (minus one 30-something drunk frat boy a-hole making rude comments as people walked by) this place had me from the first Shipyard I drank. Ill be back for sure yall!

I enjoyed the time I spent at Three dollar deweys. a few friends came here for lunch and I shared a pitcher of Peak Organic espresso amber and enjoyed the seafood chowder which is the reason we were here. It was recommended to us by someone and the tip paid off-possibly the best seafood chowder I have had. I enjoyed the ambience it has a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere mid-day but I am not sure what the place is like any other time. I recommend stopping in for the chowder and the beer selection is decent

Another jewel of a restaurant in Maine. We eat here a lot when visiting. The place is not fancy by any stretch, but the beer is cold, they have many varieties and the food is awesome. The pub plate with fruit, cheese and local sausage is so delicious. The fiance had the fried clams they were fresh - he still talks about them every chance he gets. I had the chicken salad with garlic feta dressing and it was seriously one of the best salads I have ever had. Wonderul gingerbread for dessert!

A bunch of us ran into Three Dollar Deweys in 1983 before going over to the Civic Center to see Aerosmith. Once I got in there, I didn't want to leave - a million beers on tap, cool vibe, great chili and a fun crowd. The concert sucked, I should have stayed at the bar. I took my wife there on our first date in '85, I proposed to her there in '89, and every time we go to Portland we go there. Almost 30 years later and the food is still great and a beer selection as far as the eye can see. Try that chili!

It wasn't too busy for our late December lunch and service was fine. One of us is gluten intolerant and her fruit and vegetable platter was incredible. Two had fish and chips with really good fish. The coleslaw needed something like horseradish for a little flavor. Grilled chicken sandwich was just ok with uninteresting spices. Plain would have been better. Incredible selection of beers.

I mean, come on it's Dewey's... It is a Portland landmark with excellent pub food and a top notch beer selection. The atmosphere is exactly what it should be with a great mix of young and old just having a great time. If you're a popcorn lover, which I am not, then you'll love the free popcorn!

    (5)
  • Ryan C.

Solid 4-star pub. Good amount of brews on tap (more than most pubs) and the food was actually really good. I ordered the pulled-pork sandwich & fries and it was AMAZING. Spicy-sweet BBQ sauce with pickles on a bulkie? Excellent. Good fries too. Bartender was nice, although hard to hear sometimes. He did recommend a few good beers though so that was great. Borderline dive bar, but don't let that stop you from the pulled pork sandwich!

I ran across Deweys walking down the street on my first trip to Portland and decided to try it out...A very relaxed pub atmosphere. They offer free delicious popcorn and some awesome beer. I tried a mango flavored beer, which was very tasty. Our food came very quickly after we ordered it and the waitress was very friendly. We started our meal with some solid New England Clam Chowder, which I would recommend. Then I had clam cakes, which were very good. I also tried the Falafel, which wasn't that tasty but could be fixed with some Sriracha sauce! If you are in Portland and looking for a tasty, cheap and quick place to eat, this is it.

I'm not impressed with this place. Lots of good beers and very casual but for sure NOT a good kid place as they do not cater well to the childern and the food is just ok. Many better places in Portland. At my last visit, the service was TERRIBLE, one of the worst waitresses I've ever had. She could have cared less about us being there.

  • Tee D.

I came here during a Wednesday in mid July. It was about 3 in the afternoon, so there was plenty of room at the bar. They have a massive beer selection on tap and free popcorn to boot. I had a couple local IPAs and a bowl of clam chowder, which was the perfect snack just before an afternoon nap.

    (4)
  • Kristin C.

We stopped here for lunch and I was not impressed. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but how can a pub mess up burgers? Mine was overcooked and dry. In addition, there was an up-charge for every topping and for fries instead of chips, making 2 dry cheeseburgers with fries $25. Wish we'd gone to Five Guys instead...

  • Pinky T.

AWESOME NACHOS, loaded with chili, so good. Tons of great beer on tap, service was fine. Tables are big, great for groups, clean, five stars. Any bar with this kind of beer selection and nachos this good is a five-star rating from me.

    (5)
  • Emily A.

Let me start by saying I don't drink beer. So the many, many beers they have on tap here really didn't matter to me at all. The atmosphere left A LOT to be desired... the place was filled with old men, and I mean filled. Four different men of the over 40 set offered to buy me a beer, which I kindly declined. If they were offering vodka it night have been a different story... but that's not really the point! My friends and I were probably the only people there under 40 besides the bartenders and bouncers. Thankfully we did not stay here for long, it was more of a meet here, grab a beer and then move on to bigger and better. One nice thing was the free popcorn, they have a big popper in the middle of the bar, and it's salty, buttery goodness. Almost good enough to make up for all the old creepers.... almost!

So, we popped in for a few drinks after sushi one night. The place was pretty crowded as it was a Friday evening. However, we scored one of the tables in the bar area. This place exuded a certain charm. It reminded us of our college days, and the bars that one frequents during that period. In fact, you would think that it would be filled with flat screens for sporting events, etc., but no, it is simple and spacious and a relief from those places continuously flashing commercial images to your subconscious. It is a nice place, but not too nice (aka, coeds can throw up on the floor from too much alcohol and not ruin a whole heck of a lot). It was just, well, perfect. We enjoyed the atmosphere and mostly younger crowd - although there were quite a lot of middle-aged customers, too. They do have a ton of beer on tap. Plus, specials ($6 pitchers of PBR)! We tried a few of beers on tap and enjoyed some conversation - oh, and people watching. Great place for a relaxing time!!

My friend and I stopped in here during a business trip we took to Portland. We were looking for a chill place to have some food after a long day being stuck on an airplane. This place was great. they have an awesome selection of beer and our waitress was able to give us good recommendations based on the types of beer we prefer. The place was very relaxed, which we loved and the locals there were very nice. For food I tried the Monte Cristo sandwich, which I had never tried. It was delicious, came nice and hot, and in a good-sized portion. I was very pleased with this place and will definitely go back next time I'm in Portland.

went in a busy wendsday night in july, and loved it. the place was packed there was one waitress and one bar tender in the whole place and not an empty seat in the house. the waitress cautioned it may be 10 minutes before she could take our order and we could order at the bar if we wished. not much longer a table opened up near the windows by the entrance we pounced on it, waited a few minutes for the server and finally i made my way to the bar for a round. The bar tender was completely friendly let me sample a few beers before i made my pick. he eventually became our server as the poor girl was completely slammed. The beer selection was out of this world, there was easily 30+ beers on the menu and nearly half of them were on tap. A great selection of west coast beers for those days when i am feeling home sick. My wife had a small garden salad and a cup of the clam chowder, i had the Monte Cristo with fries. we split an order of buffalo strips. The Strips were as good as i have had at any other restaurant, but the Cristo was out of this world.... perhaps it is simply that i haven't seen a Monte Cristo since my days of working at the Buttercup Pantry on Richards Blvd. In Sacramento back in 1996... but i loved every bite. My Wife insisted i try the chowder, and while i found it different to clam chowders i am used to being called "new England" it was delicious. I found it not nearly as heavy and rich with cream, but rather loaded with clams, potatoes and flavor. I had some hearty conversations with other patrons of the bar regarding beers of the world and life in New England. I loved the fact that people came in and walked towards the back and a cheer would roar from the crowd who were already there. I don't know if these are regulars or if they were just a party having a good time, but it made an already fun atmosphere more so . I am moving to Portland and this will become one of my regular spots.

Went here for the 2-for-1 wings. The portions were great - we got 18 wings for $10! It was way too much food for two people. Not the greatest buffalo wings I've ever had, though. They weren't spicy at all! Quite oily. The upside is that they provide Sriracha and Frank's Red Hot at the table. We applied them liberally.

Down home dive. Loved it. Very social atmosphere and very fair pricing.

  • Pat M.

I use this place much more as a drinking establishment than a dining establishment. The selection of beer is fantastic and the location is far enough away from downtown (3 blocks) that parking is less of a hassle. Great nachos, good burgers, free popcorn.

  • Shannon S.

I went into this place only knowing that we would like the beer based on the other reviews and was surprised by the great pub food and service. We took the kids with us and they found more than their fair share of enjoyable eats as well. We splurged on the shrimp appetizer and it was devoured by us all, even the fussy eater! The bottomless popcorn was perfect as we anxiously awaited our lunch. The three alarm chicken chili was a hit for us all and the little one loved it for its medium spiciness and chips! I think we felt the hamburger was the star of the table although the clam cake sandwich was better than a typical fish sandwich if you are looking for something different.

Good food, FANTASTIC beer selection (they introduced me to Lager & Lime, still a favorite). Good service. This is one of my favorite stops when we're down in the Old Port.

  • Beth G.

We stopped here for drinks while walking around old port. We sat at the bar and were pleased by the amount of beer on tap and the very reasonable prices. We ended up ordering nachos, which were very good and came out quickly. Not a fancy place but certainly a good place to stop in for drinks or a quick bite to eat.

Nice local watering hole with above-average pub food and friendly, knowledgeable staff (they know beer!). I love dive bars where the folks are nice, the beer is cold, and the food always hits the spot. I know they probably don't appreciate being referred to as a 'dive bar' but in my book that's a super-great complement.

    (4)
  • Jay F.

As a watering hole this place is pretty good. Nice selection, decent prices, not a lot of hassles. The food is OK (there is much better in Portland) but not terrible. A must stop for any pub crawl

  • M L.

Good Old Port bar on Commercial Street if you want some drinks or pub food. Sometimes this place has a crowd and lively, and other times it has been dead and lifeless. Have had burgers, salads, soups, apps, and meals here all have been good. My only major complaint is I usually have to get the attention of the bartender and flag them down for another drink. I know I am not a regular here, but it is obvious that I like to drink and it is obvious I want as another one. Many good beers on tap here and the Whiskey pour is good.

So I'm walking around Portland with a few of my NYC/Philly friends, and one of them sees Three Dollar Deweys and says "NO SHIT! A bar where all the beers cost three bucks?" Well, not quite. But close. The name of the bar is actually a reference to prostitution in the Yukon, but you'll find that most of the (good) beers here actually are under 4 bucks, which would be a rock-bottom happy hour special anywhere in Manhattan. This place was great. Friendly staff, good eats, and a great beer selection -- but please order something local, because there's absolutely no reason not to. All in all, this is a good first stop for a Portland bar crawl because the food's good and it's not too busy around dinnertime so you can actually have a conversation prior to getting completely blitzed on Wharf St.

  • Craig G.

Nice, laid back pub. Help yourself to a basket of complimentary popcorn. The calamari was breaded with cornmeal, which gave it an interesting yet pleasant texture. They had great $3 pint specials, and it looked like they had a different special for every day of the week. My one complaint is that they didn't have enough TV's for watching sports; couldn't find a seat with a decent view of the game, but I guess my fiance was glad for that. All in all, a pleasant place for dinner and/or drinks.

Excellent beer selection.......Good food, nothing special (which makes it nice)......Hot and polite wait staff.......Just a good all around place to get a sandwich and a pint. Keep up the great work!

  • Dallas T.

OK, the caveat is that this is a review of lunch here. This place may be great for a late night pub crawl... But, the food and service at lunch was absolutely horrific. Sandwich and jambalaya were both horrible. Popcorn stale. The chili was OK. The waitress was not helpful, rude, and rarely showed her face to serve us. I won't be back.

  • Amy L.

We had a very friendly waitress, the beer selection are nice. The food is average but cheap. Nothing to write home about. Floor needed to be swept.

$5 mixed drinks, popcorn and playing cards...OH MY! This place makes me want to back my bags and ship up to Maine. I had my first, hopefully of many, experience here this past weekend, and am counting the days until I go back! After pushing and yelling for drinks at another bar, a Maine-ac I was with suggested this establishment. This is a place where the word "cover" doesn't exist, drinks at the bar are attainable and you can take over a few tables with pals!

  • T L.

Three Dollar Dewey's is amazing. Laid back, incredible beer selection and great specials, and surprisingly delicious food. Cool beer hall style tables as well as smaller tables and seats at the bar. If you are in the Old Port, 3DD is an absolute must.

  • David L.

My nomination for best pub in Portland. An extensive beer list, great chili fries, and, for a lunch entree, superb Korean barbecue beef over dan-dan noodles. Other diners were also very satisfied with their meals, including one burger, a Ruben, and a grilled lamb kebab wrap. Total was less than $20/person, including appetizers and drinks. Good variety, good waterfront location and view, and great value for money.

  • Phil L.

I love this place. Full of fun people, great staff, killer food, lively atmosphere. I wanted to start out telling you that because I noticed a couple or reviews that, in my opinion, are off base. Dewey's, as us locals call it, has been around for years. It is the original Maine brew pub. It is the place that started it all. Where you can get a cold beer and amazing food in an inviting, relaxed atmosphere from a staff that cares. One of the anchors in this great city of Portland. Overall Dewey's has always been the place to go for great food, friendly staff and a lively atmosphere. Have there been occasions in there long history when something wasn't up to par? Most likely, yes. Though we all have the right to share our opinion, it makes sense to smile a little more and if you are not happy with something perhaps let that person know in a kind way. I know it works for me. Just a reminder. PL

Nice casual bar....they have live music on some nights too. Huge place....did not stay long as we were there for a pre-dinner drink. It is nice place to hang out and have some beers with friends.

One of the better tap selections in town, playing cards, big tables, and popcorn make this a comfortable and enjoyable place to spend an evening. Now if only Portland didn't close down so early....

Food was a solid three stars here but the beer selection was a 4! Lots of choices, so a great place to get a drink. Food wasn't bad, just nothing overly exciting or notable. Free popcorn...both good...and dangerous, as I think we went through 3 basketfuls.

  • Jessica C.

Amazing nachos, great beers on draft, and free popcorn - a place after my heart. I've been frequenting this place for about 5 years now and can't seem to find a bad thing to say about it.

    (4)
  • Allan C.

We should start by saying that service is pretty spotty so order everything at once. It's and old restaurant in need of some changes and updates they seem to have only one speed slow. They do have a nice draft beer selection although I did not think it was chilled enough that said still pretty good. As for food well not very good frankly, I was there with family of 4 and none of us really thought there meal was very good. I had fish & chips which were very bland and had no seasonings on them at all and the fries were very greasy and mushy and again bland. Overall a pretty disappointing visit and I would not go back, there are to many good restaurants in area.

"$1 Lookie, $2 Feelie, $3 Dewey"... Yep, that's the tagline of this historic bar along the water in Portland! We stopped here for a few drinks on our exploration of downtown and I was thrilled to find free popcorn available at the bar. The beer menu is extensive and the prices are pretty decent. A snakebite with angry orchard is heavenly on a hot summer day. The interior is dark and cool with lots of interesting memorabilia. T-shirts are available with their famous tagline We didn't try the food on our visit but it appeared that there were many locals that frequent the place. That's definitely a good sign. Our server was nice but obviously overwhelmed. As the rush died down, she apologized to us for the earlier wait and shared that there was one table she just couldn't get to and they walked out. Based on some of the earlier reviews, I'm pretty sure they need to bring in more help. You might want to try Deweys at off-hours. Once the lunch rush was over, the dining room was basically cleared out. Good time to visit I think. My husband and his friends frequented Deweys in the early years of their residency back in the 1980's and still get a kick out of going now. It's a Portland staple!

Decently priced dive bar. The crowd is a few regulars at the bar. A number of tourist do come in too. The downside of this place is they serve mixed drinks in pint glasses. Come on. Who does that? How much mixer can one drink with each round.

    (3)
  • Bryan H.

The food here is subpar. The drinks are good in a pint glass. Service is very slow. One waitress for the whole place. Not her fault. The ribs were burnt. Pizza was not good. Fish and chips overdone. Took forever to pay.

  • Ben N.

So after sitting in the restaurant for 1.5 hrs waiting for our lunch, the server comes by and tells us they haven't started our meals yet and would we like to be cashed out. The manager hid in the kitchen and didn't say a word to us. Never coming back. Avoid at all costs.

  • Fred B.

I can't rate them. We got there, hardly anyone there. Waited 15 mins. No one ever came over and even said hello. Finally waitress comes over and asked us to move because "she doesn't have time to clean the table"??? Left and spent our money a cross the street. Better beer anyway

I really like Three Dollar Deweys. How can you hate on free popcorn, cheap drinks, and good pub fare? It's all in the heart of all of the OP action too! I hadn't been here in awhile, but I always remembered the service being good. When I went, there was only one waitress one, but she was handling the Monday night crowd well. She was very attentive and patient. The popcorn (that yes, is free) is deliciously buttery and salty. I ordered a steak and cheese. I was really surprised at how good it was (sorry Dewey's, but come on). I would go back just for the steak and cheese. Seriously. The atmosphere is great and seems like a hot spot for after work bar hopping. They have a great selection of beers and a few ciders.

Cleanliness 3 Service 4 Food 3 Likelihood 4 OVERALL 3.5 Hey, it is what it is! I had a burger, fries and onion rings. Not bad. The place needs a face lift, that is for sure. You walk into the servers station for the most part. Not the most welcoming. My server was INCREDIBLE! Didn't miss a beat. Great job! Restrooms could have used a little love. Tables were sticky. Chairs were torn and beat up. Burger was hot, had three cheeses (not all the cheeses were melted.) fries were cut fresh, thanks, and onion rights were made on site. Good job. I would go back because I know what it is, and I had great service.

Nice honest place- reliable pub food, good daily specials, and nice beer selection. The vibe is super relaxed. There are booths, several long tables with bench seats, and a few regular tables. It's family-friendly with kids menu during the day/early dinner hours, but mostly just couples and groups of adults hanging out. The crowd skews local, making it a nice escape from the map-toting crowds. Downside- no outdoor space. Overall, a welcome counterpoint to the many overly-fancy places in town.

Our group of 5 from Boston recently paid a trip to Portland and had to visit the famous Three Dollar Deweys for a quick bite. We were pleasantly surprised by the large beer selection. Waitress was very knowledgeable and recommended some local beers for us visitors. For pub food we were all impressed by our dinners. I got the Ruben which was real thick pieces of corned beef, not cheesy slices you will sometimes get at restaurants. The rest of my group got the fish and chips (fresh with crispy beer batter). The steak and cheese sub was delicious, real shaved meat, not a steakum. The burger was cooked perfectly and the bacon and pesto was an excellent touch. My friend who ordered the haddock was surprised by how fresh the fish was-definitely not a frozen patty. There's a reason this place is so popular with tourists and locals. Definitely check out this staple if you're in the area.

Perfect, local bar without it being too divey or small. Quite a large space actually, along with a decent sized bar. The popcorn is my favorite part; not too buttery or salty and complimentary! The drinks are all poured in "buckets" (I don't know who invented the short drink glass) haha. We had two vodka concoctions and a beer and the bill was only $12.50! Not bad if you ask me.

Great noisy good crowd on a Saturday night with the beer flowing. I liked how they had a ton of great beers on tap including local beers. I'm really glad we were recommended to stop here--it's got that local feel and it's not touristy at all. Prices were good and I will definitely go back next time I visit Portland!

So, i am not the biggest fan of this establishment but it is a good stopover down on the waterfront on commercial street with some pretty decent pub style food and fresh popped popcorn. When my friend and I came here two nights ago, it was pretty busy but we were served pretty quickly but with the fact that the waitress had all of the tables in the place, she was pretty swamped. We both partook in a Geary's seasonal ale and it was divine! Our appetizer although sounded great was a little sub par. They were chicken chili nachos and they tasted like they were old even before they cooked them on the plate. Our sandwiches were a little better where I dove into a pretty good pastrami on marble rye and my friend had a shredded chicken sandwich. I think by the service and the food, i am going to come back just for the plethora of beers on tap ... also if you are looking to watch sports you might want to stick to rivalries. There are better selections in the old port for yoru pub food and good environment.

I was here pretty much to drink, so I can't rate their food. I can say that I wasn't a fan of the kids that were in there. It looked like spring break had hit Portland a little late. Way too out of control and overly obnoxious, but that's what you get in this area from time to time. The bartender was great and I had a great time overall, but not sure what the food is like...maybe next time!

Classic new england oceanside pub. Visited after listening to so many references on Men from Maine radio skits. Service was scant because she was so busy, but pleasant nonetheless and the food arrived fairly quickly. We tried a southwestern burger topped with great chili and a Dewey's rueben which were both good. Good place for a beer and pub grub when in Portland... and free buttered salty popcorn, always good...

I've been going to Three Dollar Dewey's since it was on Fore St. next to Cadillac Jack's (anyone remember that?!). I would say the food is good, the staff is good, the location is good and tends to have a good amount of people frequent it. So I give it a good rating! :D It's not anything really special but it has been around so long and always feels familiar in the ever changing bar/restaurant landscape that is Portland.

This was the meeting point before our paint night a few weeks back. We had about an hour before our paint time, so we figured we would grab a drink and some food. It was still early on a Tuesday evening - just after 6 and the place was pretty empty. We found our group and some had already ordered food and drinks. The rest of us joined in and grabbed menus. The waitress came and got us drinks and completely overlooked the fact that we had menus in hand. For those who had already ordered before we arrived, their food came - we thought this would prompt our order to be taken, but she quickly ran off. She did come back about 30 minutes later and asked if we wanted another drink and said, oh did you want to order. We were afraid that it would not come in time and during this 30 minutes has decided to grab food after painting. Our friends' food did look really good though. We had a difficult time understanding why the waitress seemed so frazzled over so few tables and how we would be overlooked. We could have gotten up and caused a stir, but it was our choice to just let it go. I will most likely come back to hang out, have a beverage, and maybe even try the food if they choose to take our order.

Always a must visit when we're in Portland. This fish & chips are solid as is the beer selection and amazingly affordable ($2 Labatt). It's not the cleanest or most up to date place but it's a solid visit. The service we receive here has always been great, they work really hard to please their customers. We'll see you again soon....:)

The food is decent but the service is terrible. The waitress stopped at the nearby table 3 times while I was eating but completely ignored me. I had to get my own napkins! But when I was done eating she was there with a check a minute later! If that doesn't say "don't come back!", I don't know what does.

The best Italian sub-aka the Dewey special. Try it, you won't be disappointed. Don't offer to split with your companion as it may lead to a fight- it's that good. Huge imported and domestic bottled beer selection. They even had Becks light

John Tapper, rescue me! Food slow. Fried food way over cooked. Good beer selection but on the warm side. Great place for pitcher of beer. But don't order food.

Nice place for some munchies and beer - great selection! They were quite crowded so we had to wait to be served but were able to maintain equilibrium by downing a few baskets of the free popcorn. This place is right on the waterfront in Old Town Portland so the view is quite nice (people watching isn't bad either). Check this place out the next time you are in Portland.

This spot has many beer choices, although it is a bit pricey (especially with the prevalence of breweries that will give you beer for free and the bars on Fore that have $2 local beers). It also gets crowded and loud even on a weeknight. The free popcorn is a plus for when you get the beer munchies. All and all this place is okay. Just okay.

Lobster roll contained the least amount of lobster out of all the restaurants we tried that weekend. I asked for my ahi tuna medium rare-rare and it came out medium well-well. In terms of ahi tuna, that's a major difference. It was dry and overcooked. Bummer.

Funky kind of a tavern / pub. Kind of a "run down" looking place. Almost left at first, because we were being ignored, as we finished our first basket of FREE popcorn. But, once we were attended to things were ok. I enjoyed the Prime Rib sandwich, but the fish that my wife had with fish and chips was not very well cooked and she couldn't eat it. The waitress was good about making it right.

Another great visit! I always order from the specials, and today it was a capicola and marinated artichoke sandwich on foccaccia. The capicola, while hot, was not too hot, and sliced perfectly. Our waitress was attentive and polite. I love this place!

I didn't eat here so I can only speak to the beer, but wow do they have a great selection! Don't be fooled by the name though, not everything is three dollars! Deweys is loud, dirty and pretty much a college bar but its a fun place to stop in for a few drinks if you are in town. I've been three times now and each time I'm impressed by their beer selection and how affordable the beer is. I want to go back and try to food!

Moderate atmosphere, kinda good food, and moderately priced drinks. The real kicker here is their terrible customer service. 4 of us were there on a night they closed at 1am. At 10pm, they started stacking chairs, and they turned off the TVs. When none of the customers left, they flashed the lights and turned off the music. All of us stayed for another 15 mins or so, when they flashed the lights AGAIN. Mind you, no one had come over to say anything to any of us. Finally, I said to someone scampering behind the bar "aren't you guys open 'till 1?" "There might be a snow storm tonight," was the sole reply. Can you say rude? Never going back. Total disrespect for paying customers.

Ok place to hang out with friends and enjoy a beer. I usually start out my night at most times here. Unfortunately they aren't that concerned with their customers. When i was in the middle of watching a basketball game they turned off the TV and started shutting down around 12. This is a good place to have a beer or two before hitting Fore st. But not much more than that.
