My favorite thai place for takeout! I love the pineapple curry with chicken! Also, their spring rolls are to die for! I prefer to get take out as the environment itself isn't the best. It's not terrible- just not comforting or fancy. The service is great wether you dine in or take out. There is also only street parking. Lastly, there are great party combos for a decent price!

Love their lunch specials and lunch prices. I usually just buy extra for dinner just to save a few bucks. Same portion for lunch n dinner. I usually go with drunken noodles or pad see ew. Lunch to go, they even gave me soup! Yum! The guy who works there is always smiling. Every time you call your order in, he says it'll be ready in 5 mins! Hard to believe, 5 mins?! really?? I guess so, but I gave them plenty of time. The order is still pipping hot off the wok. Not microwaved.

This is one of my favorite places in town to grab a bite to eat. The prices are very reasonable and I've never had a bad plate of food. Everything is presented beautifully and tastes as good as it looks. As far as dining service is concerned, I really can't complain. If you're the sort of person who likes a waiter to be by your side constantly, this may not be the place for you. They pretty much serve you and leave you alone unless you call them over with a question. Staff is always pleasant and happy to make recommendations on your choice.

Love this restaurant! Amazing pad thai and crab ragoons. The staff there is so friendly you feel like you're at home. The atmosphere of the place is dark and mysterious making it great for dates! Love the place, definitely I will be bringing my friends here and I will be bavk as well!

Fantastic cheap take out. We tried the Pad Thai and the Pad See Ew. Both had generous helping of veggies and fried tofu, and for $7.45 for dinner... perfect! It's not gourmet, and it's not extremely authentic, but it's really tasty and fairly compex, and you won't feel guilty or nasty after eating it. In particular, we had NO issues with the spice level. Mine was the 2 I asked for, my partners' was a 5- and totally edible.

This is our go-to Thai place. It's like our "Cheers"--everybody knows our name, or at least our faces--which is a testament to the attentive waitstaff. The food, timing and service are great every time. Our favorites: the pad Thai, pad see ew, drunken noodle, and all the curries (especially red, green and Masaman). They often give free appetizers, and not just to us. The place is spacious enough that you can stay for a long time without a problem and it's never too noisy (they probably wish it was a little noisier). I don't get the haters. Even though we live on the peninsula, when we want great Thai food, this is our place of choice every time.

Awesome Thai food for a great price. $30 is enough for two people for two nights. The crab rangoons especially are great. A few times they have forgotten to put something I ordered in the bag, but each time they've made it up with free food. Highly recommended.

This was good! Pad thai was good, crab rangoon (suggested by staff) was EXCELLENT! They deliver. I'll be back.

I rarely feel at home in East Asian restaurants, and usually leave somewhat unsatisfied. In keeping with that, this was pretty good -- but not great. The portions were not large but not tiny, and the taste was quite good. My dish needed more reduction on the sauce, but again, it tasted good. If you don't like spicy food, get a "1" on the heat, period. Good service. Chive dumplings were good but kind of small for a $6 item. EDIT: Our party had indigestion the following day.

Not the best, that's for sure. I need to break this up a bit: Eat in: The crew is friendly enough, but the focus of the business seems scattered all over the place. It is hard to explain, you should at least see for yourself. Take out/ Delivery: Prompt delivery, the food suffers a lot, though. The food delivered was not of quality, yet quite hot. Overall: When we ate in the food was OK. Some of the ingredients in the curry dishes we had were from frozen, some were not. Over all it wasn't too bad for the price. Delivery was worse, as the food had been sitting for a while. You can do better if you try.

Nice friendly staff. Red curry chicken has no flavor at all. Kind of disappoint. I will give them one next time I'm in the area to buy grocery next door.

Sorry but this is not the Thai place you are looking for. I keep seeing good reviews of Thai food in Portland and trying them. Invariably I am disappointed. Either I have lived in places with exceptionally good options or Portland had exceptionally bad options. We had spring rolls that were essentially lettuce filled burritos with some mystery meat in them. Also hot basil chicken that was simply bad. Surely out of bottle sauce with the consistency and taste of runny hair gel with soggy frozen veggies. You have Thai to have dinner with some fresh Veggies right? Not here you don't. Pass. Instead try Thai Siam in Westbrook BUT they don't deliver. ARGH! MY KINGDOM FOR A GOOD THAI DELIVERY PLACE IN PORTLAND.

Got take out there the other night, it was pretty good! Not the best thai I've ever had, but certainly not the worst. Had the massamun (I'm spelling it wrong, sorry) curry with brown rice and some soup. Boyfriend had bamboo curry. Both dishes pretty tasty, well spiced, good sized portions, brown rice was great (but rice serving portions are SMALL-less than a cup size). Maybe the other reviewers hit it on an off night?

seng chai is pretty good. my boyfriend and i are regulars for takeout. i dont really enjoying eating in because one of the waitresses doesnt leave you alone and wants to talk while youre trying to enjoy the food. the man who is usually there knows us and always greets us like we're his best friends. i like the pad thai with chicken or the fried tofu. sometimes we go a little crazy and get the party platter for 4. for $22 and some change you get a nice sized portion of pad thai, chicken wings, spring rolls, fried spring rolls, and crab rangoons. i also recommend the thai dumplings....i have to add that being regulars we get free snacks every time we order from here. he usually adds an extra app. or soup OR he gives us an entree for free!!!
