Otherside Delicatessen is basically an upscale West End type deli located in a very middle class (at best) area off Washington Ave. It's a cool store though so I hope it's just close enough to Falmouth to fill the major void of decent sandwich shops in that city. The store is small but offers a solid selection of house-cured meats, olive oils, pastas, etc. There's a list of 7-8 "grinder" sandwiches that are all $8 and specialty sandwiches that are $9. I ordered a turkey grinder. The bread was thick and surprisingly (in a good way!) toasted. It was a delicious, but enormous sandwich that filled me the rest of the day. It would be great to have a choice of sizes, because $8 is a little expensive for the area and I'm not always starving (and hot sandwiches make poor leftovers). If they debut a half for $4 I'll be here every day. The price was more of a problem for a veggie sandwich. Untoasted, the bread was too thick, and $8 for just tomatoes, pickles, lettuce and olives is basically theft. The store also sells pizza and breakfast sandwiches that I'd love to try. I would absolutely come here for the beer and wine. This little store by far has the best beer selection in all of north Deering and Falmouth. It's an amazingly thoughtful mix of local, regional and west coast beers, some of which I haven't even seen in Bier Cellar. I'll probably come back just for the beer. And the wine options look creative and unusual as well. Otherside is open until 7 pm most nights but unfortunately closed on Sundays. It's a really good store that would be even better by offering multiple size sandwiches and re-evaluating some of their prices.

Just found this gem! Well worth the trip. Spoke to Pete the owner. He was in the restaurant business for a number of years. Found a passion for charcuterie and here he is. Sandwiches are lovely. Cured meats are locally sourced. Great takeout sandwiches. We had the tuna melt - light, fresh and delicious! Brioche bread made the difference. Fresh pickles added crunch. Pork schnitzel made on the spot. Capers, lemon, egg and mustard. Highly recommended!!!

Great food, really chill people behind the counter, cool atmosphere. You really can't ask for more than that!

I am so thankful they opened near my house. 9$ grinders are amazing and a great deal considering what you get. We spend a little more $$ on local meats because you need to do that, and it's worth it. There is also yummy , fresh coffee and breakfast sandwiches, wine/beer, and deli items. The service has been consistently STELLAR.

Chock full of down-to-earthedness and grassroots inspiration, this deli will make you feel like you're in a downtown hipster hangout...until you realize you're eating a super awesome sandwich within earshot of Falmouth. And that sandwiches are their gig. Oh right! Pork belly banh mi. That just happened. My wife's a fan, and she's not an easy sell. My 9yo is now unwilling to entertain eating sandwiches from any other place - until I've sampled the alternative and can vouch for its ranking relative to Otherside. I'm ready to try the pork shnitzel next, and the friend chicken sandwich the time after. And considering that there's only other deli option in Falmouth, this place's arrival couldn't be more musical to me.

Nice hip deli located in the old Quatrucci's market on Veranda. Grinders, specialty sandwiches, pizza, house cured meats, smoked fish, and Italian items. The rolls were excellent and heated...the chic salad grinder used fresh locally sourced veggies with an ample portion of chicken salad. The pork schnitzel had a nice caper and egg based relish, with a lemon accented pork cutlet. Several scratch pizzas and traditional pastrami and corned beef highlight the menu. I thought the value and local use of products made a nice touch and decent value...the $9 grinders are definitely a meal. I'd recommend...4 stars....solid

I am going to try again because I will give them the benefit of the doubt that I chose the least appropriate menu item to a deli. But I will also suggest its removal. This place is relatively in my neighborhood so I have been eager to try since the area was canvassed this winter. I chose the fried chicken sandwich. Half (more than half) of the chicken breast was inedible, I will not speculate or elaborate further than to say it had the consistency of hard rubber. So 1 star for now. I will have to work up courage and an appetite before I return.

Nice little deli tucked away in this remote corner of Portland. It's actually conveniently located RIGHT next to the 295 on-ramp. Depending on where you live, this could be the perfect breakfast sandwich/coffee stop on your way to work. I stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon around 1:30pm. The outside is very un-deli-like; it looks more like a former H&R Block or auto parts store than a sandwich shop. I was, however, immediately reassured that I was in the right place by one of the signs above the entrance that simply states: PIZZA BEER BACON Check, check, and CHECK. The inside is a combination of sandwich shop and beer mart, but they also have a bunch of different local ingredients and items up for sale like pastries, flour, lentils/beans, etc. I'm not quite sure what they're going for, but I like it. They also have soup and fruit for sale on the table directly in the center of the space. It looks like they are also set up to sell pizza by the slice, but perhaps I came too late in the day for that. The deli menu is good mix of traditional favorites like corned beef and hot pastrami sandwiches and trendier sandwiches like pork belly bahn mi and pork schnitzel. They were out of two of the sandwiches (the two trendier once I just mentioned) and so I opted for corned beef. The gentleman behind the counter went right to work on the meat slicer, and I soon had a sandwich, bag of chips, and a water for about $9 or $10 - average price for a lunch around town. Warning - there are no seats in this place - it's take-out only. I was not prepared for this, and because I was on my way to an appointment directly after eating, I had to eat in my car. This really wasn't a terrible problem, although I felt like I was on a stakeout. The corned beef was very good! I probably could have used a little salt, but it had a great flavor when paired with the sauerkraut and the mustard. I hate when I can feel heartburn coming on before I even eat anything, but in this case it was well worth it. I'm especially excited to come back and try their homemade donuts, made in-house on Saturdays! In fact, all of their breakfast items look very appealing.

Really like this place, their sandwiches are awesome and the quality of their house cured meats, makes that huge natural foods chain look kinda second tier.On this latest visit I had the Banh Mi, perfectly seared pork belly, beautifully creamy liver pate, a little heat, and pungent cilantro on French bread! Yum! I also picked up a pound of their house made bacon to bring home. So good, not too smokey and just the right amount of lean to rich creamy pork fat! I can't wait to see how they continue to build this little market.

Fabulous - while we don't currently suffer from a shortage of butchers here in Portland one supposes, it doesn't hurt that another quality QUALITY butcher has entered the market. Not one for venison, the venison meatloaf piqued my curiosity as I really didn't want to cook dinner. It was delicious - on par with Pat's Meats, which is really saying something. I always make sure to reserve a few slices for the next day's meatloaf sandwich and this meatloaf made an inspired and hearty lunch, no ketchup required. (Seriously!) Very good selection of other tasty things to go along with the meats, worth checking out if you're driving by - which you are because they're not too far from Baxter Boulevard and who doesn't like to go there?

We really enjoyed stopping by here. They have a lovely selection of cured meats, cheese, craft beers, and wine. The ambiance was great and the owner extremely nice. The French fries were delicious! The spinach/broccoli/mozzarella pizza was good though a little on the cheesy side, and the pork belly banh mi was on great toasted French bread.

Great cozy little lace with delicious backed Gouda. Ordered a grinder and it was delicious. Topped it off with a local root beer. Great place. Great service.

The two main things you want to know about this place: 1) YUM 2) go here! Great local neighborhood deli, not only is the food great but the price for amount of sandwhich you get is amazing. With sandwiches and grinders for $9/8 your belly and wallet will thank you. I got the tuna melt recently and my coworkers said there was no way I would be able to eat it by myself (they were wrong I conquered it).The owner is so friendly and always willing to answer all and any questions. No seating in the joint so grab something on the way to or from work.

Already obsessed with the house made chicken sausage. So glad Other Side joined the up and coming neighborhood of East Deering.

The Otherside is an oasis in east deering! House made Italian sausage is amazing, smoked salmon is delish and even a simple breakfast sandwich is fantastic. The owner takes just as much care in making a sandwich as he did when making a high priced entree at Grace. Love this place!
