Ginza is a nice little spot in a pinch. Friendly service and decent sushi. I wouldn't seek it out, but I wouldn't avoid it. House salad is great. Rolls tried (in order of preference) sweet potato, shrimp tempura, crunchy spicy tuna.

Last night a few friends and I had a couple of beers and, of course, had an irresistible urge to sing karaoke. A google search brought up Ginza Town. After much head scratching about what a Ginza is (a district in Tokyo), we called around 9 pm. The woman who answered said that they close at 10 but would stay open for us. Perfect! Ginza Town is next to Papa Johns on Forest Ave, not far from the Samuels area. It's one of those places you drive by hundreds of times and never know exist. We got there around 9:15 on a Friday and there was one other large party celebrating a birthday. The owner also was celebrating his birthday and joined the other party. He didn't speak English but brought us a free bottle of Sake. I loved this place already. Ginza Town for me is "Bubba's Awesome." Meaning it's probably terrible but I love it. Wireless mics are hooked up to a decent sound system and a flat screen tv. They play karaoke from Youtube, which sounds awful but worked extraordinarily well. Before long we were best friends with the large party, belting cheesy 80s ballads while chugging $3.75 containers of Sake. Considering each one held 3.5 Sake shots, it's a killer value. We had already eaten, but the other party must have had the entire menu brought on platters to their table. It looked and smelled amazing and I was able to try the chicken wings and duck breast. Very tasty. I will definitely be coming back for food. So, awesome karaoke in a kitschy Asian restaurant/bar with dirt cheap Sake on Forest Ave? I know, it sounds too good to be true, but luckily it's not.

I especially like Ginza Town for lunch - their lunch box combo is my go to: chicken teriyaki with rice, tempura, salad and a spicy tuna roll. My wife had the Pho. Both are very good. One of the things I like, is that the spicy tuna roll is a solid piece of tuna, not a chopped up tuna.

A fantastic little family owned sushi bar. Prices are reasonable. Great selection of rolls, beers, and other entrees. Big enough for a group of 8 if you have one.

Maybe it's the location? Or the ambiance? We went last Saturday night and where the only two people in the place. The waiter quickly filled our glasses and gave us a menu and seemed to have disappeared. He did come back after we ordered it took no time for food to start flowing from the kitchen. Miso broth was good but seemed like every bowl of miso in my life. Split the pork gozya, delicious and a great sauce. The spicy crunchy tuna roll came next. The tuna was good but seemed ripped apart not cut evenly, I never noticed any spice in the roll. So-so. I then had the chicken Katsu-don. Fried chicken, fried egg, rice and vegetables. Very good and a ton of food. Took awhile to get our bill but the place had gotten busy there was one other couple sitting in the establishment. Watch out! I have been there for karaoke night pretty epic! ( A lot of what I assume are Vietnamese people come out to sing) I would say food gets a 4 but location and atmosphere more 2, 1/2.

I've been to Ginza town twice now and its been a good experience each time. I wouldn't say its been amazing or atrocious, just dead center OK. Each time I'm there I'm easily outnumbered by the fish in their fish tanks, I don't know why no one is ever in there. The first time I was there another patron told me that the place was his favorite so I take that as encouraging news. The wait staff there are quite nice and when I ordered the lunch roll special to go they gave me some free miso which is always appreciated. So as for the sushi, I ordered their lunch special (see photo) which ended up being a TON of food. I could have used a little bit more fish inside the roll instead of the copious amounts of rice. For some reason they were cut in some weird angle which made them a little difficult to eat but didn't affect how delish they were. In my opinion it's got to be hard to get sushi wrong in this city given we are about 2 seconds from the ocean. I guess I expected a bit more 'stuff' in them, but they were fresh and there was a lot of food in the special so it kind of evened itself out in the end. Pretty much the definition of 3 stars for me. Prices were reasonable and service was fast. It didn't leave me craving a meal from there like I do w/ so many other forrest ave places but I'll continue to go here when I do want sushi.
