Wow...This place was fabulous! I give the food five stars, the ambiance five stars and the service 3 stars...For starters, we had the Sautéed Mussels and Bacon Wrapped Scallops. These scallops were the best we've had! Next time, I'll double up! I ordered the 1 1/8 lbs baked stuffed lobster, my husband ordered the Lazy Lobster, and my son had the Lobster Roll...All of them were truly satisfying for sure ESP after filling up on appetizers! The ambiance was perfect...the noise level was fair, not noisy. Lovely views, candle lit tables, dressed up casual attire...I truly enjoyed. The only issue was we weren't served our warm bread. The service seemed slow as we watched everyone being served their basket of bread and butter, drinks as soon as they arrived, and we were the first there. Other than that, fairly priced, great food, and ambiance.

Dinner was so delicious and portions large. I got a pasta dish with shrimp, scallops and lobster and there was no skimpin' on the seafood. I hate when you order a dish like that and there's very little seafood, well, not the case here! Very cool setting, an old ferry boat docked at their marina, floating, original, beautiful views, just a cool idea. I had read that the dress code was pretty formal, but we did not bring anything but casual with us. I also heard that they can get pretty busy and crowded, so called and asked if a rez was needed. They said, nope, plenty of room, come on down! The walk from the hotel was rather chilly, so asked to be seated inside near the window. The hostess took one look at us (casual, mind you, not sloppy or wearing rags) and told us that there was no availability inside but they'd be happy to seat us on the outside (protected with plastic) deck. This we figured was total BS and when I went inside to use the restroom about 15 minutes later I took a look around and saw plenty of empty tables inside. I also noticed that people were dressed very nicely. So, I guess our casually dressed wallets were only good outside, it was the same menu/price as inside. Felt a little offended, honestly, hence the only reason for minus 2 stars. Otherwise, the food was excellent, the drinks were good, the service was good.

it was a fun yet stylish place to eat and the food was delicious! I had the haddock with pecan/squash stuffing.. and I couldn't get enough. really great (kinda pricey).

Great for out of town visitors! The lobster is served up delicious, reasonably priced, and the fact that the restaurant is an anchored ship in the bay is fun! As a bonus, this is one of only a FEW waterfront restaurants which remains open in the off season, a bonus if you happen to visit in the winter months. Cocktails were pretty standard, nothing surprising, and they had a decent selection of local New England beers. The views are pretty at sunset if you get a table next to a window with the overall atmosphere an easy but smart casual.

We came, we saw and we kicked its ass! Came to Maine for 1 thing.. The seafood And after all the driving, all the traffic and all the damn money spent. Good ole DiMillo's made it all worth while. Did some binge eating last night. A little of this and a little of that. Was eating like I was going to the electric chair. Gulf shrimp cocktail, fried oysters, clams (steamers), lobster Mac & cheese and "lazy lobster" in buttery broth.. All excellent. I sincerely thAnk you, Mr DiMillo. Now I can die in peace..

I had a bunch of friends come up that I haven't seen in years so I wanted to bring them somewhere nice. Great atmosphere and attentive staff. The food was great from soup and salad to scallops and lobster.

My husband and I ate here on Tuesday night last week. He had been once before while traveling for work and enjoyed it, so he wanted to take me there. Parking is free when validated by the restaurant which is great since parking can be tough/expensive down there. We were seated right away and had a very nice server (I wish I could remember her name). I felt slightly out of place at first since we were the only young couple there but then realized if the food is good, I didn't care. We ordered the fried calamari as an app, which was good. I had my heart set on lobster, so I got the lobster mac & cheese, while my husband ordered the lazy lobster. We shared both and wow were they delicious!! The Mac was amazing- I'm always afraid of this dish being too heavy, but it was perfect. My husbands lobster was succulent. Our server helped me pick out a wine to go with my meal and even came back with a small sample to try before ordering a full glass. Some people may think this place is too much of a tourist stop, but it was delicious food and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Portland.

A Portland icon is staying relevant in the restaurant scene with great menu items and first rate staff. Had the tuna tartare and it was outstanding! Never a bad meal here.

The absolute most beautiful, professional and friendly waitress I have ever met in the restaurant lounge."short blonde hair". She is worth going and having a drink!

Was recommended to come here by the foodie walking tours and was ignored for 10 minutes-- and no it wasn't busy. Won't be coming here again. Beyond disappointed.

Decent place. Better choices elsewhere in town for the price. There was a long wait. Personally I would not recommend waiting unless it was for outdoor seating.

Great lobster Mac & Cheese. I am not typically a lover of this dish but I can confidently say it tasted heavenly. This place also has good service and a stunning view!

5 stars for atmosphere, 4 stars for service, and three stars for the food. The food is standard fare....adequate and a tad overpriced for the quality. However, the atmosphere makes up for it. A safe bet.

I'm a huge fan and frequently dine here and have for years. Always consistently great in food, service and atmosphere. My favorites are the clam chowder, steamers, calamari, lazy lobster, fried clams, shrimp, and scallops to name a few. As a Realtor I have brought or referred many out of town clients to this place and they have all thanked me and added Dimillos to their favorite Portland Restaurant list.

Went for dinner. My friends and I came up for a vacation to Portland from New York and we have tried steamed lobsters in another restaurant so we decided for the stuffed lobster. Started off with bacon wrapped scallops and fried calamari. The scallops were cooked very well. The friend calamari was different from the typical calamari I usually get in most restaurants- it had a topping of red onions, capers and other vegetables and it was absolutely delicious! The steamed lobster was very good but, the breading seemed a little excessive. Great food experience overall. The restaurant is on a boat and we were seated on the first deck in the middle of the restaurant. It was an exciting feeling to be dining on water but, there were a few times the boat actually felt like it was rocking, which made a few of my friends dizzy for a bit. This place has a lot of pricey items. The service was excellent.

The filet mignon was a little dry; but they wrapped it in bacon, so that wasn't their fault. The service, while good and attentive, was a bit slow. There are VERY small negatives, however. It was great experience on the deck with the lighting, and they were not pushy for drinks or deserts (so we had both! Heh) All in all I highly recommend it. A little expensive, but definitely won't be the bank.

Ya, it might seem over the top touristy, but they delivered on all points. Stiff drinks, good chowda, really good bacon wrapped scallops, prompt and professional service and KILLER views in cool setting. There is a reason they have been around so long. Absolutely loved the jumbo shrimp in my bloody mary(s)!

This is a good restaurant in the aspect that its Maine so there isn't that many places. For an App I got the Bacon Wrapped Scallops. They were way overcooked and just didn't taste very fresh. I had the Lobster dinner which came with I whole lobster, Clam Chowder, Green Beans, clams which I swapped out for scallops and a Loaded Baked Potato. First off the price of the lobster was a record high due to the bay being frozen over and the fisherman not getting the normal amounts of lobster. I believe it was right around $49.00 a pound at the market. What I have been finding is that the lobster is fresh up in Maine but they don't do anything special with them, they are just steamed. Grilled lobster or serve lobster with different sauces that compliment the lobster would be amazing. But Everywhere I had it in Maine it was just super plain. It was good but I have definitely had better.

Overall the food was delicious however the lunch menu portions are on the small side. The shrimp scampi pasta was delicious however not worth $19 it should be more like $12 to $14. The calamari appetizer was good but could be better. It had some rings of the calamari but the rest of it was fried scraps not the tentacles. It also came with capers, chopped red onions and red bell pepper. The baked lobster mac & cheese as well as the broiled scallop entrees all were on the smaller side of portions. The waitress left much to be desired in her ability to deliver great friendly service. The bill was $89 for an appetizer of calamari, 3 lunch entrees, a beer, harlinger sparkling Pinot Noir and a soda.
