I paid for 5 adults and 3 kids to eat and pretty sure I got out of there for under $60. Everyone loved their breakfast, great country atmosphere, and real sweet tea. Can't wait to go back.

We stopped off at Holly and Dougs on our way through town based on a recommendation of a friend ( shout out to Jack !) and were not disappointed. First and foremost Holly and Dougs is a Maine diner so this is what you should expect. Good, simple, comfort food with a friendly but sometimes rough around the edges staff and customers. This is Maine...we are not complicated folk and we like are friends and food the same way. The staff is dressed in their country best flannel and jeans and the dining area is also heavy on the country theme. I don't usually say this but.... visit the bathroom. It is complete with a shower (if you are having a not so clean feeling before your meal) and a note on the wall basically saying that there used to be lots of cool decor in the crapper but because some redneck wanted some new decorations for the trailer park, they had been stolen TWICE, and were not going to be replaced a third time. This is both funny, and a little sad all at the same time. But now lets get to the food. We arrived for lunch so Simone had herself A Turkey, Bacon and Ranch Wrap with french fries on the side. I couldn't really tell if the fries were homemade or not but they were very good, hot and crispy so I didn't really care. The turkey was definitely roasted in the kitchen and was cut into large thick slices for the sandwich. It could have been a little bit more moist but the ranch dressing ( also homemade and very good) made up for a little dryness. The Bacon was perfectly crispy and the iceberg lettuce also gave a refreshing crunch to the wrap. My meal was a grilled chicken sandwich with ( for a small extra charge) Ham and Swiss. This was pretty straight forward nice grilled moist chicken breast, thin sliced deli ham and lots of melty Swiss cheese on a bulkie roll. On the side I went with the onion rings. They were good but not freshly breaded so that was somewhat disappointing but I still finished them all. Both our meals came with a coleslaw that was spot on. Not overly creamy, not overly vinagery but just the right amount of both worlds. For dessert we did the classic brownie Ala mode. A nice large rich chocolate brownie topped with Vanilla Ice Cream and Hershey's Syrup. This was a classic diner dessert that you cant go wrong with. Overall Holly and Dougs was a good meal. It wont knock your socks off but It will hit the spot when your just looking for foods that will make you smile.

Was back in Maine for both a funeral and a wedding, and between the two we as we traveled an area I don't think either of us had visited my boyfriend and I decided to stop at Holly and Doug's. We realized we hadn't eaten since the evening before and it was after noon. Despite the fact that she told us she was having a very bad day, our waitress was extremely pleasant and very attentive. We had your normal on-the-road, stopping-at-a-diner food and it was very good, especially for the price. With two glasses of OJ and two entrees, as well as a slice of rhubarb pie, it was around $15-ish for a decent amount of food (enough we had leftovers to bring to our cabin at the wedding). The pie was for my boyfriend and I never got to eat any of it, so I can't review that myself. Although the reason for that is because he said it wasn't very good and, as I had never had rhubarb pie before, did not want that to be my first experience. This was very disappointing for both of us since he always talks fondly of his grandmother's rhubarb pies, and when he saw the pies being taken out in the display they all looked pleasantly homemade. Given the amount of relatives in the area, if we're ever hungry and on our way by we will definitely give it another stop - especially for the friendliness, quick service, and great value.

A nice surprise. Great whole wheat bread and very good club sandwiches and BLTs. Good fries. All good, but nothing fancy. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. If you are from away you will be happy. If you're local, you already know about it and you're not reading this. Enjoy!
