Really? I know it's central Maine but this was the blandest food I've had in years. It was technically food and I didn't die, but there was no flavor. I guess if one liked fried food this place must be the place for you

Awesome haddock sandwich, clam chowder and "angler platters". Will be back next time we're in town.

We were driving on Route 2 and came across The Anglers. We had their Lobster Roll and the Half and Half with Haddock and Fried clams. Lobster roll was really good and price is reasonable at $15.99. Fried clams and haddock were pretty good too. It felt like a place the locals go and people who work there seem nice too. A good down home place.

This restaurant has so many options that they have their regular menu and a huge write on wipe off board with all the specials. Fried good here is not greasy. The batter is so light you feel a little less guilty when eating it. All meals come with 2 sides and you can get salad, cole slaw, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, fries, pickled beets, baked potato and squash. So many choices. The squash is deliciously flavored you could eat just that and be satisfied. The meals are pretty big and we saw many people sharing a meal as even the sides can feed more than 2 people. The mound of garlic mashed potatoes and fried potato slices could easily feed 3 people. No one was able to completely finish their meal. The rolls are warm and tasty but you don't need to load up on that as your dinner will more than fill you up. One person had the grape nut pudding which she gets often and asked for the smallest size which came out like one of the sampler desserts in a shot glass with a huge mound of whipped cream. The size was just enough for her after a big meal. Have been here many times and always leave very satisfied at a fairly low cost. Prices are very reasonable and actually for the portion sizes they are very low. Staff are super nice and check on you often. Great place for almost any type of seafood dish you are craving.

We've been going here for years and love it every time we go. I usually get the Half & Half and choose the clam strips and local shrimp. The strips are always tender and the Maine shrimp are as sweet and tender as can be. My wife always gets the fried haddock and brings half of it home for the next day. The portions are huge, believe me, you won't leave hungry.

This restaurant on the outskirts of Newport was a fortunate find. We were traveling on route 2 on our way to Mount Desert Island and stopped here for lunch. Our first indication that this place was good was when we saw the parking lot full of the cars of local residents. The restaurant specializes in seafood and has a large and varied menu. I had a fried clam roll. The whole-belly clams were fried to perfection, and packed generously in a large bun. My companion judged the clam chowder to be the best she had ever had. It was exceptionally thick and creamy. Her haddock entree was also well prepared and tasty. Service was reasonably attentive. We left feeling very satisfied.

This Angler's location is every bit as good as the others. Maybe a bit more casual, but still excellent!

If you love seafood, you HAVE to go here. I had a combo of deep-fried loving (whole-belly clams and calamari)... oh my goodness! I was in heaven. They were light and fresh, not greasy at all. The staff was very friendly, the place felt homey and casual. Sister who doesn't eat seafood really enjoyed the chicken, too! And the pies are made from scratch and unbelievable. Definitely need to go to this place!

Called for take out, forgot my fries which I didn't know until I drove home! Batter on clams and haddock very soggy no flavor, I will drive the extra 7 miles to Carmel to eat Seafood Galley from now on.

During my recent vacation to Maine, my uncle recommended Anglers Restaurant. So, we got in the car and headed up. The hostess service was a bit slow and was hindered by the people that ordered pick up, but once you sat down - the place is pretty good. The waitress was nice and attentive, but a bit frazzled. The place was busy, busy, busy. She made several errors, but apologized and made every single one of them right - mostly by fixing them and not charging us for the uh-ohs! Always classy in my books. The food was good. So good, it was yummy the next day, too. (That's code for the portions are HUGE!). My dad loved the clams; My mom loved the BLT; My kiddo loved the hot dogs. I really enjoyed the broiled scallops. They have a vast selection of drinks and food - something for everyone!

One of the best lobster meals I've ever had. Started with a bowl of lobster stew...very delicious, rich and filling...should have shared. I had the baked stuffed lobster at the suggestion of the waitress and it was one of the freshest tasting lobsters and then had the buttered cracker, more fresh lobster, scallops, and shrimp stuffing inside part of the cavity. My fiancé ordered the twin lobsters only about 1 1/4 lb each and they were fantastic. If I were driving anywhere near this place I would stop in.

We are from Illinois and just stopped there off of I-95. We had Alex for our waitress. She was fantastic and recommended Haddock and Scallops and we also tried the Clam Chowder. The fried Haddock was the best I have ever had. The Scallops were also the best we have had in years. The 13 layer Chocolate cake was so big my wife could not eat it all. I had the Chocolate cream pie (all homemade). Wish this place was in Illinois! Fantastic.

The fried lobster tails are to die for. Normally I don't like fried foods, but I love lobster so I tried them. Wow, they were fantastic!!! Normally these are on the "specials" board, but even if they are not listed you can request them and they will oblige. My husband doesn't eat fish, so orders the chicken tenders-they are fresh, not the frozen kind-and he loves them! Definitely a good place to have a GOOD meal!
