Love this place. Been around FOR-EVER and will not disappoint. I remember going on multiple occasions and seeing the lobster boats coming in and dropping off the fresh catch. Does NOT get any fresher than this. The place doesnt look like much, but its deep Maine; and at Shaw's: Get prepared to be VERY satisfied.
Eating a lobster shore dinner at Shaw's brings back memories and never fails to create new ones. Once you park you have to walk by a really smelly area but once you pass it, you're on the dock leading up to the restaurant. Back in the day, you could go up to the room where they store their lobsters and pick out the dude you want to eat. Not so much anymore, but know that the lobsters here come from some of the best waters of New England. The venue is getting old, but it boasts an old school feel with it's self-ordering system. The views of Muscongus Bay are classic Maine: lobster boats moored on the water and an island in view across the way. Admittedly, you miss the rocky shore views that you get from a place like The Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth. The other day I tried ordering just lobster roll but couldn't get past the empty feeling when I couldn't tear a lobster apart on my own. Solution: order a naked lobster for dessert. Don't forget the steamers. They're cleaned, steamed and taste sweet and delicious. (ugh - time to go home. just felt earthquake at my office).
Seriously stay away from the seafood casserole. It came out lukewarm with what amounted to nacho flavored Cheezits crumbled on top. Stick with the shore dinner and you should be fine.

This is a cute little gift shoppe/restaurant/ice cream soda fountain hard by the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. The gift shop actually has cool stuff to buy (unlike most of these joints) and I picked up some awesome blueberry marmalade. Speaking of blueberries, the restaurant had a belgian waffle with whipped cream and tons of blueberries that was a fabulous way to start off a morning--make sure you upgrade to the real maple syrup for an extra $2.50. The little ice cream soda fountain also sells 'pop' produced by the local Shipyard brewery, I had a blueberry 'pop' wow was it too sweet.
Very nice spot for breakfast, lunch, or supper at the Pemaquid Lighthouse. All the usual seafood nicely done and wonderful blueberry pie.
Weekend brunch at the Sea Gull Restaurant is a hidden gem of the Pemaquid Peninsula. The restaurant is located on the front porch of the gift shop and offers incredible views of the crashing surf and the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. They don't have a lot of tables and don't take reservations so be prepared to wait. It is really worth it however. Have a great meal, visit the lighthouse, and walk the Point Loop Road. This would be my suggestion for anyone looking to spend a summer day on the coast.

We had a great meal there last night. Highly recommend the fish tacos (haddock or salmon last night), seafood meal of the night and fish & chips. Oysters are always cold (not a given at other places) and tasty. Pizza is very good as well. Top notch beers on tap, including rising tide. When this place is on, like it was last night, it is far and away the best restaurant in the area. You can't beat the setting.
Well we got there at around 6:30 and it took about 20 minutes to get seated which is a somewhat understandable. It seems like they were understaffed which is probably due to the fact that most of them are going back to college and the restaurant will be closing in the coming week. But none the less it took an hour to get our food from a waitress who didn't seem all that happy to be there. I got the fish n' chips which is "famous" from there and they were pretty good but I wouldn't consider them famous. I also tried the fried clams which I thought were better than the fish n' chips. Most of the people there were part of a family. Not much diversity but thats usual fort the area. Waiting there isn't too bad because its a nice scenery but unfortunately the service took too long, it became dark and the mosquitos came out, which is one of the worst parts of Maine. But I still enjoyed myself none the less.
What a beautiful spot. Right on the water. Though today is cold and rainy the view is wonderful. The good and service were both disappointments. The waitress was obviously new and not very friendly. She knew nothing about the menu, specials or prices. My fish and chips were fresh but greasy and soggy. The chips where good and crisp ( how are they that different?) My wife's muscles were good and the portion was good too. Her kale salad was small for the price but had a good lemon dressing. I was shocked to see they charge $4.00 for a basket of rolls! Long drive, fair food and low level of service. I won't return even with the great view.
