I cannot say enough positive things about the Maine Stay Inn. We stayed in cottage 9 for a brief trip through Kennebunkport. When we arrived- we relaxed in the main house with refreshing tea and some delicious cookies! Our cottage was an unexpected gem- very modern, clean, and tastefully furnished. The inn keepers were welcoming and provided us with info of the village, beach access, and booked our reservation at a local restaurant. I like the idea of staying in the cottages- and if we had neighbors- we wouldn't have known because it was very quiet. We had chilled wine and a cheese plate waiting for us upon arrival (you can have them pick up a bottle and they will just add it to your room charge). The breakfast is offered at 2 different times- or you can have it delivered to your room/cottage. You can also choose to sit out on the huge wrap around porch or inside. So food wise- the breakfast wasn't anything to write home about- basic huevos rancheros baked into a cup, fruit, and they offer some granola to go if you'd like. The coffee was outstanding! Bright and kicking! Maine Stay could win me over with a perfectly poached egg over field greens and toasted ciabatta! Kennebunkport is a wonderful village with old cemeteries, quaint shops, great food- and the Maine Stay Inn and Cottages made it the most enjoyable visit for me. I would definitely be coming back!

We stayed in Cottage 5 for three nights as part of out honeymoon and could not have been happier! Th accommodations were impeccably clean and comfortable. The inn keepers (and all staff) were wonderful and they truly made us feel at home. We will make the Maine Stay Inn a regular B and B!

I stayed at the Inn during late June. It was a very clean and accomodating space. The staff were helpful, answering any questions about the area and even leaving cookies and iced tea out for the afternoon. The prices are also very reasonable. My only issue was the breakfast part of B&B. The first morning we were served eggs hong kong which was essentially dry eggs and mushrooms in an overcooked wonton cup topped with a teriyaka sauce. I'm an adventurous eater but this dish was essentially tastless. The next day was a mixed berry cobbler. That would have been great as a dessert. For breakfast, it was hardly filling and overly sweet. I would stay there again because as I said the prices are reasonable and the staff and rooms are great. But we would definitely skip the breakfast.

We are so glad we were sent here by another B&B who didn't have vacancy. Judy and her husband are super friendly and helpful. Our room is adorable. My husband and I are loving it.

My wife and I stayed here for the second time for a reason.. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable, clean Cozy and well maintained. The staff ,the best, Judi and Walter are always there to help you and guide you with anything you need , from good restaurants , hair salons, activities etc Duke was very nice giving us a whole information that you need to know about the place . We are in love with the place and town hoping one day we can move close to this place were people are nicer and life seems less stressful then New York . To Walter , Judi and staff thank you for making our stay always wonderful. Oh the breakfast is delicious always ! Is home style cooking not your typical B&B breakfast cooking so if you like eggs and bacon every morning go to the supermarket and make it yourself ;)

We stayed for four wonderful nights at the Maine Stay Inn in cottage #2. I am a gluten-free vegan and inquired in advance of my stay if they could accommodate me and boy did they! Each breakfast was just great and I really appreciate how Judy took care of me! Our room was beautiful, very clean, and I don't think I have ever slept in a more comfortable bed. We had a light that was out, mentioned it to Judy and it was fixed immediately. The Inn is very close to Dock Square and we waalked down there often and enjoyed a couple of great meals. We will absolutely be back!

I am sad to say that my wife and I are leaving Maine Stay tomorrow morning. We reserved a cottage for 2 nights including 1 free night (all weeknights). I have no complaints whatsoever. Our cottage was perfect. Queen bed, fireplace, flat-screen TV, and two-person jacuzzi tub. We also had a very small kitchen which included a small fridge, microwave, and sink. We thought our pillows were too firm the first night, so we asked the Innkeepers for feather pillows. They immediately catered to our request and there we were, sleeping with feather pillows for the remainder of our stay! The Inn is located about 1/4 mile from Dock Square in Kennebunkport, where there are many very cool small shops and restaurants. Federal Jack's is not very far, Alisson's is nearby, and Grissini's is just a short, 3-minute drive away. I highly recommend all three, especially Grissini's for dinner. The beaches are also just a short drive away (roughly 3-5 minutes). Breakfast at Maine Stay was awesome every morning, especially the apple-walnut crepes! If you plan to stay in a cottage, I highly recommend having breakfast inside of the main house instead of having it delivered to you. Stop in, enjoy some coffee, and have a chat with the other guests as well as the Innkeepers. It makes the experience that much better. Besides, you will get some recommendations regarding places to visit, which is always good. Besides, having dinner inside of the main house is a great experience, with the great design of the home and detail of its furnishings. Innkeepers Walt, Judi, and daughter Johanna are awesome. They really made our stay a very pleasant one. We will not hesitate to recommend this place! We'll definitely be returning to Maine Stay!

I actually wasn't the person that stayed here it was my parents but there reviews were so glowing and I wanted to share. I actually booked this place as a surprise for my moms birthday. My mom has celiacs disease and The Maine Stay was having there 2nd Annual Gluten Free weekend. I was so happy to find a bed and breakfast I could send my mom to without here having the fear of not being able to eat anything. When I booked the reservation the Innkeepers could not have been nicer on the phone. My parents have had nothing but wonderful things to say about there stay. The room was very comfortable and my mom who is a tad OCD said the place was so clean she couldn't believe it. The Gluten free food was great as well! Thanks so much Maine Stay for making my mom feel so comfortable!

I love this place. Where else can you have your own "hotel room" and a full breakfast delivered PIPING HOT included in the cost? We stayed in Cottage Two and loved it for it's modern feel and impeccable cleanliness. Breakfast was great for me as I like more inventive stuff. Quantity was good and quality was excellent. (Hubs would have liked a little check off list to choose more standard fare.) The fireplace was super and the bed and linens could not have been more comfy. The entire staff was delightful and we can't wait to go back. Thanks Judi and Joanna!

I thoroughly enjoyed my one night stay at this excellent inn. The breakfast was extraordinarily good and the staff most helpful!

A little expensive considering we went during their off season. We stayed two nights, loved the room we stayed! The breakfast was kind of hit or miss, as one morning was kind of bad, and the next day was pretty good. I think they are trying to hard to be different, options would be nice. The area is lovely though, I would return, but I'd most likely stay somewhere else.

We stayed in cottage 2. It was beautiful and wonderfully appointed. Don,t, please, judge the cottage by its cover as the outside belies the interior. Breakfast, delivered to the door, was delicious and our hosts were lovely. What a wonderful holiday!

We stayed here for 4 nights in Cottage #3 in the off season, and LOVED IT! The owners and staff were all very nice and helpful. The cottage was very clean and well kept. The bed was very comfortable and had tons of pillows. The remote controlled gas fire place was awesome and kept the room very warm all night! We occasionally heard the neighbor once or twice but otherwise it was nice and quiet. The morning breakfasts were well made and presented, bonus on being delivered every morning! Though I think they were trying to be a bit too fancy and inventive for 1 or 2 of them. I'm not sure if they offered it, but an option of just a standard egg and bacon breakfast would be a good idea. Some people's stomachs don't do well with certain foods in the morning. We will be staying here the next time we travel back to Maine! Cottage #3 is the way to go!!!

Our stay at Maine Stay Inn was great. I was in cottage 3. The room was small but nicely decorated with an awesome touch button fireplace (really warms the place quickly!). The bed was very plush and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a 2 person whirlpool tub but the fixtures could use an update. There were 2 large soft robes to lounge around in. They had nice toiletries with their name on it which was a nice touch. There was a small kitchenette with a 2 person table, a microwave, a coffee machine, mini fridge, and a sink. I honestly could have done without a separate kitchen area since it was really outdated cabinets and counter, but we did find use of the table for breakfast. A sitting area with a desk/table for the kitchen items would have been more visually appealing. Perks: You have your own parking space You have the option of having breakfast delivered to your room (with 2 options for time). Breakfast was disappointing, they clearly tried very hard and I appreciated the effort but it wasn't very good. Pumpkin pancakes with bacon and shirred eggs. Served with a fruit cup and small carafe of orange juice. The bacon was clearly precooked, the eggs, although presented nicely (baked in a souffle dish), they were also microwaved, causing hard, overcooked yolks and runny whites. I threw mine back in the microwave a bit longer, but there was no saving these eggs. The taste of hard boiled eggs with an awful wet mushy texture. The dollar pancakes weren't bad. A little too wet in the center in my opinion, but the pumpkin was a nice touch. Little bottles of pure maple syrup was also greatly appreciated. There was ZERO hot water the morning we were trying to get ready and catch a flight which was very frustrating. When we checked out we mentioned it - they said there must be a problem and they would address it right away, but we couldn't wait around so we had cold showers. On my rush out, I forgot to mention the lack of curtains in our cottage. The bed is next to the window and you can clearly see right in the cottage. There was a sheer curtain but thats it. They definetly need to do something about that. The facilities are nice and clean, but its not your typical bed and breakfast. Most rooms aren't in the main house and there is no restaurant on site, which I'm sure contributed to the microwaved breakfast. The Inn Keepers were nice and they clearly try hard. It is expensive but you get allot. I would stay here again.

Set on a beautiful tree-lined street behind the main strip, this B&B is the perfect cozy escape from New York City. We stayed in Romantic Cottage #7 which furnishes a gas fireplace, flat screen TV, a Jacuzzi for 2 and a small kitchenette. With its close proximity to town, it was easy to walk to the main street for shopping and dinners. We especially appreciated the attention that was given to us from the Inn Keepers. Judi and Brian were especially hospitable in their gentle encouragement to enjoy their homemade breakfast when we almost passed on the offer; this was delivered in a wicker basket and served piping hot each morning...what an unexpected treat! Any couple who is looking for a relaxing weekend outside of a busy city will find the Inn exceeds all expectations. We definitely look forward to returning again soon!

My three friends and I just spent the weekend (April 2013) at the Maine Stay Inn in Cottage 6. It was a two bedroom cottage that was absolutely spotless. I don't really know how they keep it that clean! Much cleaner than your average hotel. The bedrooms were small, but all the common space was in the living room and kitchen. The place easily accommodated the 4 adults we had. One bedroom has a double (queen?) bed and the other has 2 twin beds. It is an adorable apartment, we loved it. The bathroom was full of soaps and other extras, plus a cute little rubber ducky. The kitchen had all the basics to cook, although we didn't. There was a stove, fridge, microwave and a Keurig machine. There was even a note that they would do the dishes for you. I've never seen that before in any self catering place. If there were just two of us, we probably would have eaten breakfast in the main dining area with other guests, but we got our breakfast delivered. Not the best food ever, but good. The fact is - they cooked it, delivered it and then washed the dishes. What more could ask for? Johanna, the daughter of the owners, checked us in. She was so nice and helped us figure out where we should go for lunch and dinner.... then she made the reservations as well. Most B&Bs tell you they will help, but you have to ask, and well, I usually don't. Johanna just whipped out a map and asked what we wanted to know about. The location is perfect. Just outside the town center and close enough to walk to. It was one of the quietest nights sleep I've had in awhile. Good beds, and good pillows. My friends and I all agreed that we enjoyed our stay in Kennebunkport more because of this Inn. We like to go away together one weekend every Spring and usually try new local destinations every year.... but we have already decided to come back to Kennebunk and stay here again.

Our stay was one filled with unexpected surprise. What a diamond in the rough... Excellent people ... Great hospitality... And unbelievable service. We stayed in room 17. Chocolates, cheese plate and a super clean room was just the start. Great location so it seemed secluded yet was a very short walk to down town. The inn keepers were always helpful and pleasant... Took their time to point out hidden secrets and spots worth a look. The breakfast was fabulous, the other guests we met also agreed this truly was a one of a kind place ... Worth coming back to again and again. We felt like this was home after a few minutes of walking thru the door. It has been such a great experience for us and made our whole weekend. We highly recommend this inn ... Great memorable place... Loved the inn and the keepers

The mintute my husband and I arrived, we knew that we were in for a special treat. Our room, Room 12, is a beautiful suite, complete with a sitting room with a fireplace, a bedroom with another sitting area perfect for reading and dining, and a spectaculr bathroom with multiple showerheads. Our room is simply spectacular. What is even better, the B&B is walking distance into town! The owners are a delightful couple who immediately welomed us and provided numerous recommendations for us for dinner. We have only just arrived, and I was moved to make a review. That is how special this place is!

In all honesty, I am not a big fan of bed and breakfasts, people think quaint, I think "small and cramp", people think "warm company for breakfast", I think "eating with strangers who are prolly wondering what I was up to last night" but this place is slowly turning me, the owners while not effusive are friendly, and very helpful, eager to help us out with activities and restaurant recommendations. We had a room int the main house, the four poster bed was lovely, but the bathroom was a bit small (shower only and no bath), which is a big problem for me, hard to have a romantic getaway without a bath tub I think. But breakfast in the morning was delicious, and the selection of readily available hot teas, coffee, board games and the afternoon cookie convinced me that maybe bed and breakfasts aren't so bad after all...

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was fantastic. We couldn't have asked for a better spot. We stayed in one of the "cottages" and it was the perfect amount of privacy. We were served a hot, gourmet breakfast every morning that was absolutely outstanding. The owners are especially friendly and are very willing to help you with your stay and give you any recommendations for sites and restaurants. The Inn is right in town and within walking distance to everything. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

Cannot recommend Maine Stay strongly enough. - We stayed in cottage 7 - had a jetted tub, fireplace, and was exactly what the doctor ordered for a quick getaway - was pretty much the only B&B in the area that did not enforce a 2 night minimum (in the off season) - Breakfast was fantastic - fruit cup, a bit of sausage, some greens, and this potato/egg bake that i've never really seen before, but am going to try to replicate - Location is ideal - close to the 'downtown' area as well as the coast

The Maine Stay Inn is a nice place to stay for a weekend trip to Kennebunkport. The location is great, just a short walk to downtown where you can shop and eat the day away. Check-in was friendly. I was given suggestions for dinner for the two nights I was in town, and both were excellent - see review for Pier 77 and Bandaloop. *The Bed* I stayed in Cottage #1. Cottages #1 and #2 are attached, but I couldn't hear the neighbors. The room was nice - whirlpool tub, keriug coffee maker, and a gas fireplace. The room was clean and the housekeeping was friendly. I loved having the Keriug in the room, it was great being able to make a cup of coffee and just hang out. *The Breakfast* The breakfast beverages consisted of coffee, tea, orange and cranberry juice. First course was a fruit cup, followed by a nice plate of daily offerings. Day one we had huevos rancheros, bread, and kielbasa. After that, there was homemade granola. I couldn't possibly eat anything else (and I can eat) so I asked for the granola to go and they gave me a baggie full. Day two we had another great breakfast, the one standout from this one was the berry crisp, yummy! Overall a nice place, I'd stay again.

My boyfriend and I just came back from a two-night stay at the Maine Stay Inn...what a wonderful experience! We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, and now we think that this is what we will choose to do every time we travel. Walter, Judi and staff are all amazing people who will ensure the best stay possible for their guests. We truly felt that the Maine Stay Inn was a home away from home. The fact that the house is so historic really drew us in, and our room was beautiful and classic, but with all the modern conveniences. The fireplace in our room and attached deck were my favorite parts. There are also cottages surrounding the main house, but we had wanted to stay in the house itself, as it intrigued us much more! Each morning we were served a home-cooked breakfast with the other guests which was delightful, and allowed us to meet and mingle with others visiting the area. There were always from-scratch cookies awaiting guests in the main room, and they were delicious. I would look forward to coming back to the house at night just to take a cookie to my room with me! The Maine Stay Inn is within perfect walking distance to the Kennebunkport shops, restaurants and oceanside views. But we honestly enjoyed being at the inn more than walking around town! While still the off-season, we had a great time and will definitely be back in the summer.

There are many options in town, and though I have not experienced any another B&B in Kennebunkport, I am quite certain that we would love to book another stay here at the Maine Stay Inn - it was a delight! We stayed in one of the cottages and it was clean, renovated and quaint. Ours was closer to the main house and there were no noise issues. It was generally a chill crowd. The staff was friendly, cheerful and very accommodating, especially when it came to delivering our breakfast in the morning and preparing the following morning's breakfast the night before. The walk to town was a perfect distance and gives you a view of the beautiful, historic homes and offers a quintessential New England experience.

I purchased a weekend trip at the Maine Stay Inn for my boyfriend's Christmas present. Having only seen pictures online, you never quite know what to expect, but the Maine Stay was beautiful and our time there was perfect. The Inn itself is located with walking distance to town, which is a huge perk (especially if you visit Old Vines Wine Bar and want to really enjoy yourself without driving). Everyone we encountered from the staff was fantastic - welcoming, sweet, and quick to offer advice or recommendations on things to do in the area, which was much appreciated. Warm really is the best adjective to describe the vibe at the Maine Stay, since everyone really takes pride in the Inn. We stayed in Room 12, which is in the main house on the first floor. I won't lie - at first, seeing that the room was on the ground floor across from the lounge area made me nervous about privacy as well as noise, but my worries were unfounded. The room was private and we didn't hear ANYTHING from the other common areas. Room 12 had a private living room area, with fireplace, then French doors that led to a huge bedroom - those doors really soundproofed the room, as we heard NOTHING from the busy common space (both of us were really impressed by this). The bathroom was well-appointed with a rainfall showerhead (we both now want one for home, it was PERFECT) and was clean, which is the biggest thing. The bed was extremely comfortable too, with high thread-count sheets, so my diva self was happy to be so cozy and comfortable. The room also had everything you need - a Keurig with half and half/sugars, wine glasses, an ice bucket, and bottle opener, a table and chairs for actually sitting to eat, a comfortable couch - it really was perfect. We chose to have breakfast delivered to our room each morning, though we could have gone to the dining room to eat with the other guests. Our dietary restrictions (nut free/vegetarian) were more than accommodated, even my pickiness with the fact that I don't like eggs. The food was fresh, with different items served each morning, and I had the BEST homemade granola and delicious yogurt. It was a huge perk to be able to eat in the room too. We will absolutely be back to stay at the Maine Stay - the location, warmth of the innkeepers and staff, beautiful rooms, and breakfast will keep us coming back and visiting.

We recently had a wonderful stay at the Maine Stay. Our family booked 4 rooms at the Inn and they were all very happy with their clean and comfortable rooms. We loved the inn keepers - they really made our stay special. We would not hesitate to recommend the Maine Stay if you are traveling to the Kennebunkport area and we hope to return again in the future.

My husband and I just got home from a 2 night stay in cottage 3. When we first got there Duke helped us at check in. He gave us a map of the area and many helpful recommendations for dinner. The room was lovely and extremely clean, which is very very important to us when we go anywhere. There was a beautiful electric (or gas?) fireplace, huge whirlpool tub, and a king comfortable bed. They brought breakfast right to our room in the morning in a basket (how cute!) where we ate at the small bistro table in the room. The location is excellent- less than a mile to dock square with lots of shops and restaurants. Overall, we were very pleased and can't wait to go back. Many thanks to the owners and staff for a great experience.
