This place was wonderful when owned by the Bennets. Unfortunately they sold it this season. Have been there 3 times since it was sold, and today was the last. Went in today and placed what I thought was a simple order - large BLT with mayo, and large Italian with mayo, lettuce and tomatoes. It was 10:30 am and there was only 1 other person there, so not busy at all. When the lady who took my order relayed it to someone else, she forgot what the second sandwich was and asked me what I had wanted. I repeated it. Then one of the sandwich makers asked me if I wanted lettuce on the BLT. I kinda thought that was implied by the "L" in BLT. Someone else then asked me what kind of cheese in the Italian - since the menu says it comes with provolone, I didn't think to specifically order with provolone. A third person then asked me if I wanted mayo or oil on the Italian - I said mayo again. I was asked if I wanted mayo on the BLT also. When I got home, there were pickles on the Italian - spoke with a total of 4 people about this sandwich, and no one ever mentioned pickles, so this was a surprise. An even better surprise was the dead fly that was rolled up in the paper around the BLT - admittedly, not touching the sandwich, but an interesting surprise none the less. Thanks Bennets for all your wonderful sandwiches in years past, but you will not see me again.

This was, with no exaggeration, the best grinder I have ever eaten in my life... and I've eaten a lot of grinders. While I went with the Italian, there are numerous varieties to choose from, and everyone I was with was completely satisfied with their choices. They also have beer! Fresh, delicious, can't wait to come back.

The subs are no joke! The small size was huge and for $6.50 you can't complain. I got the "Hot Veggie Sub" and devoured it. The bread is so soft and delicious. Oh man, we will be back for sure

We were really excited about the lobster rolls, but they were pretty plain and not very tasty - and $19.95 each! Not worth the price :/ Maybe it was an off day.

Really quick, good food! We got the steak and cheese and chicken and cheese sandwiches just because the lobster looked so expensive. If I went back, I'd get that for sure! But the cheesesteaks were excellent. Really local, bunch of high school kids running the kitchen. If you're on the road and just checking out Kennebunk, I'd definitely recommend!

Amazing!! Watched my lobster roll being made to order! Best one I've ever had! Buttery roll, huge lobster chunks, so fresh and delicious. Hubby had the Italian, kids had cheeseburger subs, not a scrap left by anyone. Fair prices and great quality!!! Great job Bennett's!! I'd consider the 8 hour drive just to get another lobster roll!

This place looks like a road side 7-11 but don't be deceived by the looks. This is our go to place for the best lobster roll in Kennebunk! Call it in so you don't have to wait. When we arrive in Maine for our annual summer vacation this is our first stop. We dream about it! Did I mention it was the best lobster roll in Maine.

The very best bread, meat and vegetable combination I've ever experienced. As a bit of a "sandwich for lunch" guy I was blown away. This sandwich shop is on par with the very best I've ever experienced! My experience extends to most of the major "big city" sandwich venues in the country. Great friendly service as well.

Pretty much the go to spot for sandwiches near kennebunk beach. Most people love the bread but it's a little doughie for me. My wife goes with the cub sub and the large ones are huge. I'm sure I go there at least once a week while its open. Call in your order and save some time. It's packed

Pleasantly surprised by this place! I got the lobster roll and it was a delicious twist on the more "traditional" lobster rolls we're used to. They used mayo & lettuce (which I liked, filled up the sandwich a little more) and TONS of fresh, quality lobster. My husband got the seafood salad and that thing was ENORMOUS! Completely stuffed with seafood (prob some fake crab in there too, but hey it was still pretty tasty!).. Overall a great place for a quick bite to go with fresh, quality ingredients.

ABSOLUTE must visit when in the area!!! We were thinking of a nice lunch but then decided to stop here. So glad we did!! Lobster sub- 8" long grilled then lobster meat twice as much as the lobster roll. Light mayo. One of THE best lobster sandwiches I've ever had! Split in half with my husband and plenty for both. You can eat there or drive a mile to the beach and enjoy the view there. Will definitely be back!!!

HANDS DOWN the best Lobster Roll I've ever had. I went to Bennett's during 4th of July weekend and the line was out the door. Parking is crazy during peak hours, so be prepared to squeeze your car in the tiny parking lot. Once I walked in, they had the entire menu hanging over the registers. I came to Maine for the lawbstah, so I wasn't leaving without it. Since we were clearly not from the area, the employees were very helpful with the menu options and sandwich toppings. I opened the sandwich wrapper and I was blown away. The sandwich was on an actual hoagie roll stuffed with meat. Coming from Long Island, I'm used to a roll coming on a glorified hot dog bun...not this time. For $17, this sandwich was packed with fresh meat and the perfect amount of mayo. The bread was very soft and really complimented the sandwich. I'm not one to throw around the 5 star rating, but this place deserves it. I'm already looking forward to next year's trip!

This place is Amazing! Its a very casual, great to bring kids or just grab the best sandwiches ever for the Beach or a rainy day. As soon as I get into Kennebunk I always have to get a cheesesteak at Bennetts. They are truly the BEST! I have also had the lobster rolls which are equally amazing! The staff is so friendly, seems to be locally owned and operated. The staff is made up of what seems to be local teens which I think is so nice. Everyone is so friendly....it does get crowded and busy but that just tells you how good it is! I crave theses sandwiches all year! Why don't they have a Bennetts in Texas :( FYI: I also recommend trying one of the house brand flavored sodas..they are delicious and come in a cute glass bottle.

Grew up in Kennebunk and these were my favorite sandwiches. I now live in LA with access to hundreds of great sandwich shops and Bennett's is still my favorite. What I wouldn't do for one of those cheesesteaks right now. Yum! I like to put lettuce on mine for an added crunch. The bread they use is soft and fantastic. My mouth is watering.

Bennett's has been our family's local favorite for 20+ years every time we head up to Kennebunk. I am a vegetarian and usually have to suffer through bland sandwiches at sub shops but that is not the case here! I get the most amazing cold veggie sub with hot peppers, sharp provolone and the works. Vegetarians, don't be weary... You will eat well here!

This is the best sandwich shop I have been to in a long time. it is basic but great! The freshest, softest bread you will ever find in a sandwich shop. Although the ordering system (not writing down your request) may frustrate some, it is worth every last bite!!!!! A great place to get food for a picnic, the beach, or a drive. Finally, my kids love it too! You go Charlie! Went to Bennett's again and again it was incredible! Tried some different options this time with Meatball and Chicken Fajita. Both were awesome! All of the people that work their are great and my only wish would be year round sandwiches!

The best sandwich shop I've been to! We went on Saturday of July 4th weekend and they were packed (with customers AND staff!) Our sandwiches were delicious and huge! The bread was very, very good. The menu, large. I can't wait to go back to Bennett's next time I'm in Kennebunk!

Admittedly, I haven't been eating lobster rolls my whole life, but I have had my fair share. Bennett's rolls are VERY impressive. For 16 bucks you get a large (large for a lobster roll) roll of mostly claw meat, lettuce, mayo or butter, on really flavorful italian bread. My group of friends and I stumbled upon Bennett's on our way back from the beach and we went back on our last day since we were craving the lobster goodness. Bennett's is definitely worth a try! Oh and they have a really nice selection of soda/pop that is made in-house, including cream soda, root beer, grape soda, etc. Really tasty stuff.

A good sub....not great...but good. Lived in Kennebunk for 4 years & would stop by every once in a while to grab one to eat down at Mothers Beach. A sub from Bennett's I do have to say is a great way to end a day at the beach.

Well, this place has some exceptional Italians! They will fill you up, the small is huge and the large is just unreal. The people who own it have no fear of advertising their love of Larry Bird everywhere. Their ordering process is fairly unique, you simply tell one of the many high school aged employees which sandwich you want and how you want it, why write it down and waste the paper? They haven't messed up one of my sandwiches yet! The bread is great, the ingredients are fresh and although there aren't an overwhelming number of options for veggies, they do have hot relish which makes for a great Italian in my opinion. This is a definite stop after a day on the beach.
