A really special place, run by a couple of special guys (Scott and Vince). Lots of personal touches to add to your experience. Grab a hand-drawn map and hike on the power line cut to find trails leading to a nearby pond. Check out the windmill. Grab a snack in the kitchen. Enjoy the scrapbooks and library in the living room area. Smile to your companion when you see your names in so-nice script in a card on your room's door. Take a drive into the country, or take the short drive to downtown Hallowell, which has a surprisingly nice set of shops and restaurants. We had a great time at the Liberal Cup, but other places looked good, too... Come in the fall on an apple-picking and/or leaf-peeping weekend. It's close enough to the coast to bop over to Damariscotta or Wiscasset, too.

Our wedding party stayed at the Maple Hill Inn, because the bride was having her reception at their space. There were some good attributes and some bumps in the road, which I have explained. Service: Check-In was brief and we were shown to our room. There were several bugs circling the main lighting fixture (more on this later) but the room was spacious and comfortable. I would describe it as quaint and cozy. Property: Beautiful rural property, with llamas and turkeys nearby. Lots of parking, and easy to find. Amenities: In-room whirlpool and outside hot-tub. The outside hot-tub was well maintained and comfortably seated 6 adults. The sauna was very comfortable as well. The TV only broadcast local stations, no cable. In-room DVD player with DVDs free to borrow downstairs. Snug and cozy gas fireplace in our room as well. Problems: Ourselves and two other couples stayed in 3 ajoining rooms. We later learned that each room (and each couple) had a unique bug problem (ladybugs, grasshoppers and flies). When we were shown our room, the proprietor did not seem to notice the multiple flies and lady bugs circling the main lighting fixture inside the bedroom. That made me curious about the cleaning staff, but it had been a long day of and we decided to get some rest and hope that housekeeping would eliminate the bugs when they checked our room the next day. I do not believe that housekeeping attended to our rooms because at 2pm the next day, and after after eliminating 5 insects myself, I brought my concerns (very politely) to the attention of the proprietor. Hearing the bugs and swatting at them made it hard to enjoy our beautiful room. The owner said that he would fix the problem. Six hours later, when I dropped a few wedding related items in the room, the bugs were still circling our light. I understand that it was a busy day on the property, however, when I asked again about when the situation would be resolved, he responded rather shortly "at some time before midnight." To his credit, the bugs were removed from our room before 11:00pm, however I did not appreciate being made to feel like my concern was such an inconvenience. Also, the wedding reception ended at 10pm. Our wedding party had rented out the entire hotel, and there were no other guests in the inn. We asked if several members of the wedding party could stay and socialize in one of the hotel rooms after the reception ended, because the Inn was booked and they were staying at another hotel 15+ minutes away. The staff quickly told us that unregistered guests could not stay at the Inn after the reception, even if a registered guest invited them to visit their suite after the reception. When another member of the wedding party asked why, we were told that this was not in the contract and the tone from the proprietor was quickly becoming very negative. While I understand these concerns, most hotels and inns permit registered guests to bring unregistered guests into their rooms during their stay, so long as the unregistered guest does not stay overnight. Our group made it very clear that no one would be staying overnight, that we were basically going to talk, eat more wedding cake and socialize (not out-of-control partying by any means), but this was not permitted and explained in an impolite and kinda harsh tone. Price: we paid $371 (tax included) for a 2-night, Friday-Saturday stay. I travel very often for work and have never encountered a bug problem like this, and it was a real damper for enjoying this beautiful place.

Maple Hill Farm B&B is amazing! The owners, Scott and Vince, go out of their way to make your stay the most comfortable possible. Located in Hallowell, ME, just next door to Augusta, the capital, Maple Hill is beautiful, peaceful and fun. The animals are out of the barn all day and some will come up and meet you. The made-to-order breakfast is as good as any great restaurant but feels like eating at home. There isn't a thing that Scott and Vince haven't thought of for their guests. We enjoyed it so much that we made a reservation to stay there one more night on our return drive through Maine. It is that awesome! We look forward to making a return visit to Maple Hill Farm!

Scott and Vince are genuine masters of innkeeping! There simply were no flaws in our stay. Everything was outstanding, from the decor, to the amenities to the amazing breakfasts! There were so many thoughtful personal touches. A place to come to soak it all in while replenishing the soul. I have stayed in the major hotels on my trips to Augusta Maine, and I will never stay anywhere other than Maple Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast Inn from this point forward. Scott and Vince were great hosts, the atmosphere was wonderful, and breakfast was fantastic. The room was well appointed with locally made soap, and a very relaxing, huge Jacuzzi tub. I will definitelybe back!

This B&B surpassed all of my expectations for a truly wonderful stay! Scott and Vince are welcoming and friendly, and had great recommendations for dining in the area. The farm itself is absolutely beautiful and has a wonderful sense of quiet and calm...you truly feel that you are on a retreat and removed from the busyness of everyday life. And, some adorable llamas and a hot tub/sauna don't hurt either. :) The breakfast was fantastic -- you get to select from a full menu or can grab delicious muffins and fruit to go if you prefer. Overall, this was just an incredibly relaxing trip that made us want to come back again!

Gorgeous B&B lovingly restored on extensive farmlands -- the breakfast is multi-course and expertly prepared. The owners have adopted green practices and use solar panels and a windmill. It was quiet yet close to some lovely small towns, as well as minutes from Augusta, Maine. We are planning to return next year for a longer stay.

The staff was very helpful. This was a perfect way station for a long road trip. Hallowell is a wonderful small town and easy to get to from the inn. Breakfast was really good. We bought a painting by a local artist that was on display in the dinning room. Went for a couple of long walks in the countryside. The food and the beer at the Liberal Cup restaurant was delicious.

We've stayed here several times now when visiting my family in the area for Thanksgiving and xmas, and it's always been great. The larger rooms with fireplaces are very nice - unfortunately on this last trip I waited too long and ended up in one of the smaller rooms. It was still a great experience and good to see more of the house.

Nice and cozy B&B with great service and reasonable food. The in-room whirlpool was amazing! It was the biggest and most powerful I have ever seen. The velvety bath robes added a nice touch to the large, nicely decorated, (gas) fire-place heated rooms. The king bed had a nice firm mattress and was covered with a beautiful heavy quilt. The Inn has a wind turbine and solar panels, clean with eco-friendly detergents, and generally try to be as environmentally friendly as possible, which is nice--for what it's worth. The house bubbly wine is a nice addition for a relaxing bath, but stay clear of the chocolate truffles (they don't qualify for that name). The farm animals are a fun experience, especially for children. Don't miss out on playing with the goat who thinks he's a dog. But you must take into account that no pets are allowed because the farm animals don't like guests' animals. The breakfast is reasonable, but may be the farms weakest point . You get to choose your breakfast from a menu, and it is cooked to order by the innkeepers. However, I have definitely had better breakfast experiences at high-end B&B, such as I would determine Maple Hill to be based on the higher then average prices (even off season). The curtsy assortment of baked goods with tea and coffee were a nice gesture but seemed like a hit or miss: one day they were stale, while the next--average. As for restaurants in the area, if you are from a large urban area and accustomed to good food, I would skip the interesting-ish places the innkeepers recommend and head to "Slates." Don't bother with any of the others... Over all, staying at Maple Hill was a great experience. The bubble-baths, fire place, velvet bath robes and comfortable beds make it worth the somewhat high price, and balance the disappointing culinary aspects.

I just had my wedding there and that included a three night stay. The room was absolutely beautiful, comfortable, and clean! I really didn't want to leave. The rest of the rooms were filled that weekend with my wedding guests and I have heard nothing but great things from them as well. Several of our friends said the the breakfast was the best they'd ever had!

What a wonderful place to stay. Attended a wedding there this past weekend and found the place to be beyond my expectations. Scott and Vince were very accomodating and we had the best breakfast with many choices. Dessert all day and night long with coffee as well. Got a tour of the barn and walked the trail to the quarry. What an Eco education. Solar and wind energy to the max.

We loved it here. Everything was very clean. The decor is very homey and comfy. They have coffee, tea and snacks available which was very nice. It is a farm so they have some cows, llamas, horse, and chickens - so nice farm-fresh eggs for breakfast. Breakfast was very good. The innkeeper Scott is very personable and helpful and is constantly busy - we were impressed to have him serve breakfast, man the desk, get us a drink at their cute bar and then find him gardening. There is also a trail from their place down to a pond which was nice. The location was good for our purposes as well (kayaking a variety of small ponds in the area).
