What an incredible inn! Every detail is perfection. An incredible staff lead by owners Dan and Ruth meet all of your needs and the vies over the lake will calm you and make you feel like you are in heaven. The meals were innovative and so so good and when Ruth recommended another local restaurant you can bet it will be great. My wife and I have been happily married for over 40 years and this is at the top of our list for romantic get always. BTW ask for room 1, as it is worth the extra $$ for the luxury and views!
Perfect wedding! This was the spot. As we drove up the hill to check out Blair Hill for the very first time, and we got our first glimpse all I could say was Holy( Bleep) this place looks awesome. That was my first intial reaction of the outside on the road. As we drove up the driveway I just hoped the inside was just as impressive and hoped the people that onwed it where cool people. And guess what my wish came true. You walk in and the first thing you see as you walk into the living room is this picture perfect view of Moosehead Lake. The inside was perfect, a style betweeen modern and old. It felt welcoming, and all you want to do was relax. Which is the point if your up in that part of Maine. We then met Ruth, the owner and person that runs the show. And she was great, right there we setup our perfect wedding for us. Ruth worked with us in everyway and took care of all our needs, especially since we live in Nevada. Which could be hard. But with Ruth took care of everything from the tables to all the small things and to the very big things like dinner. She even told us of a great place for flowers that we needed. Normally you hear people stressed about wedding planning, lets just say the wife and I didn't have that problem with Ruth taking care of us. We had all the rooms at Blair Hill for the wedding party which was awesome. Everyone's room had its own personality , and every room had a view to the lake or the garden, which the wedding party liked. The breakfasts where amazing, the views where incredible. The service was top notch. From ruth to all the servers at the wedding.. If you ever have a chance to make it to Blair hill either to eat or just stop by and check it out. You should!!
The best food I've ever had. My boyfriend and I did the five courses for $65 each. The wine and the food were absolutely amazing! You enjoy an amazing view while sitting down to dinner. I've had family members eat dinner at the Blair Hill and they too said it was the best food they've ever eaten. I definitely plan on going again.

First trip to Maine. Asked the locals where to eat and everyone agreed Kelly's was the go-to spot. Excellent salad bar. My husband had the blueberry beer and loved it. Split the special- smoked scallops- and lobster pie. Both delicious. Then wild blueberry pie for dessert. Great service, amazing views. If you are in Greenville, this is a must on your to do list.
Service was very good. Waitress was super nice. Food is disappointing. Ambiance is almost unbeatable. I ordered the buffalo burger because the menu description said they would not be serving them for long and I figured I would try it. Instead I got the BBQ Buffalo burger which was ok just not what I ordered. I ate it anyway. The waitress was very nice and it was close to what I asked for and I was hungry. My friend ordered spaghetti and liked it. My other friend ordered salad bar and soup. The soup was burned. You could taste a smoky charcoal type of flavor from slightly burned soup. She didn't eat it. She likes the salad bar and claims everything else she's ever eaten there was terrible. The BBQ Buffalo Burger was just ok. Not terrible at all but I wouldn't order it again. The salad bar looked average. Nothing special. The outdoor deck is amazing. Probably the best views of one of the prettiest lakes in the country. I would recommend coming here for drinks and apps on the deck and enjoy the views on a nice day. I would not return for dinner if other options were available.
Fried clams were pretty good and the chicken fingers decent. Can't beat the view but the deck was closed as it was overcast. Having enjoyed the amazing dog friendly attitude in Bar Harbor it kind of sucks here that they aren't allowed on the deck. If you are in the area good to grab a bite but not worth traveling for.

Went and visited here twice as we found the place cozy and the service friendly. In the off-season they're closed from Nov-Dec but open the rest of the winter on weekends. Not a big beer selection but they have some great food. Recommendations: Haddock chowder, try to go on a prime rib night, and see if they have chocolate cream pie (homemade including whipped cream). Very inviting and family feel to restaurant. Would definitely go again.
My son (10) and I had dinner here on a Friday night prior to heading out for a week on the Allagash. Not knowing Greenville (first visit), I had no particular expectations. My son decided he wanted a lobster roll, but it wasn't on the menu (I explained we were nowhere near the coast, but he wanted one anyway). So our waitress suggested he walk a couple of doors down and get one and bring it back and eat it in the restaurant. An unusually nice gesture. A couple at the next table later told us the waitress (Karen) was in fact the owner. He got his lobster roll and I had a fish plate and a draft beer. The food was outstanding! (And the beer was cold.) The "service" was truly perfect - we were made to feel right at home, it's a genuinely warm and friendly atmosphere. At the end of our Allagash trip, some of our group asked about restaurants, and we suggested the Rod-n-Reel. We went back again, and our friends also showed up. Had another great meal and very nice experience. This is very much a friendly, family-oriented local kind of place. The windows overlook the lake and the busy little street with shops etc. There is also outdoor seating. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area.
Food was the best. Staff was friendly. They had something on the menu for everyone and it was all good. This was a great surprise we stumbled upon.

We went here for dinner after it was recommended to us by a few of the locals. I didn't see too many other places open at 9pm on a Sunday but this bar had a few people inside so we decided to check it out. I got the ruben and my better half got the lobster roll. Both sandwiches were filling and, even better, they tasted great on the way down! We will be going back the next time we're up in the area to try some more of the menu.
We went twice for lunch in the last two days. Yesterday was a 4* but today was a 2* so I'm going with my most recent experience to give rating Yesterday: Shared nachos between two of us. The starter could have served 3. Generous portion loaded with homemade chilli, cheese, jalapeños Shared a Reuben: half pound of pastrami! Tasty, good value and efficient service Today: Waited 30 min for someone to take our order and another 30 min to get food! We ordered lobster stew ($13.50) and a burger ($8.50) to share. Stew was ok but nothing to rush back for and I'm a lobster fanatic. Meat was plentiful but broth was bland and watery. Burger was terrible. Thin burger, cold bun, half ripe tomato I went up to our waitress to say bring us the bill and we will just pay for drinks and leave but she had our food on the tray. When I complained about service she said they were understaffed. Hello?! I could have slaughtered the cow and ground the burger mince in the time it took. She credited the burger and a wine so we got one free lunch. Inconsistent to the day before.
I love the Stress Free, been here a bunch of times over the years and the place just keeps getting better. This trip we split the Nachos and each got a salad. I also got the pork wings, wow so good tender pork riblets with BBQ sauce so tasty and fall off the bone good. Excellent, clean establishment with top notch service.

Flatlander's has great "Broasted" chicken, Sandwiches, Burgers and all the other typical pub far you'd expect. I'm not writing this review because of any of that, I'm writing this review based on the chowda'! It's not overly thick, you can't stand up a spoon in it. It's the same thin broth style chowda' my Grandmother used to make. So flavorful, so tasty, I don't care if its the Haddock, Clam, Scallop, or Seafood every chowda I've had here has been fantastic. I've told the cook many times how it's been the 2nd best chowda' I've ever had, 2nd only to my Grandmothers. FYI, I grew up in Gloucester MA, my Grandmother was cook, and she took the chowda' very seriously! My Fiancee's family has a summer camp in the area and we find ourselves in Grenville at least a half a dozen times a year. I've been seriously slacking in not writing this review sooner. The Service has been good, the place is clean, the food is good, the Chowda' is fantastic!
I will say the one good thing here was the food was descent. The service was awful... I waited way too long after I placed my order to get my food, the waitress was more interested in talking to her friend at the bar then doing her job. My 3piece order of chicken came out with only 2 pieces for some unknown reason but I did hear the cook and waitress argue but who "forgot" to put it on the plate. Will never go back especially because I hate being treated like a "tourist" while the "locals" are properly taken care of.
We were looking forward to trying this place - as my guy is all about chicken and it seemed like a local favorite. Well, he was very disappointed. The quality of the meat and the size/portion of the chicken were lame. We overheard the table next to us complaining about the same thing. I got the spaghetti dinner - thinking nobody could screw up pasta, but I was wrong. It was overcooked, nasty, and I am not even sure what the red sauce was - it had a weird tangy flavor. The rinky dink "garlic bread" was half OF A HALF of a hotdog roll and didn't seem garlicky at all. The house salad, although generic with iceberg lettuce, was the most edible part of the dinner and wasn't too bad. We realize we are used to eating in Boston and shouldn't expect much out in the middle of Maine, but come on...this place is not at all what it's cracked up to be. Save your $ and go to Kelly's Landing down in Greenville Junction - so much better! UPDATE: I originally gave this place one star, because of the food. But the waitress we had was very nice ...and if i must confess, guilt has gotten the better of me. Flatlanders has been a Greenville staple for decades...and I guess a local joint like this adds to the charm of a small community in the wilderness, even if the food isn't great. (I am tempted to keep adding stars, so am going to stop here. Sigh. I'm a sucker for nostalgia).

This place is closed now, they auctioned off the remains inside yesterday. I hear they have big plans to gut it and completely remodel and open a new restaurant. It has new ownership.
We went here for lunch one day while vacationing in Greenville. Just as we were seated we watched a group of 7-10 people get up and leave before their food was delivered because the wait was so long. At this point we could hear the wait staff and cooks having a cussing fight on who's fault it was that everything was so slow. Everyone appeared to be frustrated at the wait times. We finished our drinks and went across the street instead of ordering food.
Our family went here for Father's Day and a part of our fall trip, that we do every year, as a family tradition. We are always looking for locally owned places to visit and try out. This place is neat and right on Moosehead Lake and has a beautiful view. The day we went, it was raining so we couldn't sit outside but it didn't matter because of the enclosed glass seating inside. The place was quiet that day and it was fine with us. Oooooh but the menu!!! We loved it!! How could you not want to try this place out with entre names like this: Moose Wings, Chicken Toes, Boom Logs, I'm Not All That Hungry - and thats just the beginning.... maybe you would like Tree Hugger , Misteak on the Lake, the Chicken that didn't make it across the Road, the Moose is Loose....or maybe a burger, like Plain Old Burger, Cheesy Weasel, Skunk Breath, Fungus and the list goes on. But maybe you are a meats and potatoes kind of person, so maybe you would like to try their Looks like Steak, Smells like Steak, Must be Steak dinner!!! And of course, if you order 24 hrs in advance and pay 25% down....Mooseballs ....joking people....or are they??? ;) Either way, if you are in the Moosehead Region of Maine, you have to stop by and check this place out. The service was great, the view was spectacular, the menu is entertaining, the food was amazing and the overall experience was a blast....and not too bad on the wallet. There is something for everyone here. One last thing, if you can't make it by car, no problem, you can come by plane, boat, snowmobile or on a dogsled, your choice!!!
