This little Italian place is very good! They seated us in the outside dining area and since the weather was pleasant, it was great! We ordered the "Bruschetta", shredded parm cheese, mozzarella cheese chunks and tomatoes topped multigrain bread slices, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic, was very tasty, but a little messy. "Margarita pizza" (tomato, basil & cheese) on whole wheat crust, which our 7 yr old son really enjoyed. He ate 4 slices! The "Penne alla vodka w/hot sausage" was a little spicy and the pink sauce was tasty. The "Pasta Petrillo's", is chicken, penne and gorgonzola cheese which was a little bland. Our friend ordered the special, "Coconut shrimp with spicy linguine" and he really enjoyed this dish. The service was a little slow, but I think they were understaffed for July 4th, but our waitress was very friendly. Great little place to stop to eat after shopping in the Freeport shops.

Terrible. Much more of a review would be a complete waste of time. Just moved to the area and have been trying out many local restaurants. Ordered pizza for take out and to say it was terrible is an understatement. I am pretty sure had I ordered from the local Dominos I would have had better pizza. Everything about the pizza from the sauce to the lack of toppings were just bad. Terrible. Pizza is one of those foods with a range of quality. You have great pizza like Otto or Pizzeria Regina. Then you have good to ok pizza like Pats. Not great by any means but servicable. Then you have terrible pizza. Terrible pizza is usually hard to find. Petrillo's without a doubt falls into the terrible range.

When a neighboring restaurant couldn't seat us quickly, they sent us to Petrillo's. What luck! Nicolas quickly sat and served us outside, which was what we needed with three small children. Paninis, salads, and soups were all excellent, so much so that we ordered additional food for take out. Service was as fast and friendly as it gets.

We spend a weekend each year in Freeport and the past two trips we've eaten at Petrillo's. Last year we liked it so we went again this year and it will probably be a regular yearly stop. Both times we've just had a few appetizers or sandwiches for a light lunch, but everything we've had has been very good. Mussels were very fresh and my wife asked for extra bread because she loved the broth so much. I think their meatballs are phenomenal! I agree with some reviews that the prices are a tad high for the portions, and it's a bit drafty and cramped, but the meatballs with marinara are enough for me to come back.

Took my son here for dinner in a Friday night. Last time I ate at Petrillo's was years ago, and I remember it being pricey but good. This night it was crowded and there was a half-hour wait. We were told we could sit at an odd little corner high-top table, but in a few minutes a couple of seats opened at the bar and we sat there. Our waitress was friendly, and although the bar was somewhat noisy, there was a real community of regulars and many patrons just wanting to hang out and chat. We ordered our drinks (unfortunately I forgot to order the Limoncello!). My son is just barely 21 and yet he wasn't carded, and I noticed a very young (5ish?) child at the bar. Not sure that's kosher. Anyway, it was past happy hour and the wine and Angry Orchard we ordered were very expensive. We each ordered a pizza, and were going to split the meatball appetizer. It took over an hour for the app to arrive. I realize it was busy, but there seemed to only be one cook in the kitchen turning out all the orders. Our pizzas took about 20 more minutes to arrive after the appetizer. I had the butternut squash, goat cheese pizza (it was good, but the squash was big square chunks, which made it awkward to eat), and my son had the pulled pork, pineapple and jalapeño pizza. His was much better. The meatball was good, but we wolfed it almost without tasting since it was so late when it finally arrived. Overall a good experience. I would have given another star if the wait weren't so long.

Enjoyed my visit here. Ate "outside" but it's enclosed, and it was a pleasant evening. It does seem a little cramped inside. I started with the chef salad, which was good and a decent size for a side salad. I then tried two pizzas. The Dom has meatballs and big hunks of fresh mozzarella. It was absolutely delicious! The other pizza had BBQ, pineapple and jalapeños. It was tasty, but way too spicy for me. The pizza was large enough that it would be enough or more than enough for one person's meal. Overall, it was a good meal and service was pretty good.

I love Petrillos! I love Petrillos! I love Petrillos! The homemade meatballs are incredible. The pizza is killer and the atmosphere is great. It feels love or you are off the beaten path, yet you are still in the mix. This place will not disappoint.

This is a cute place to grab a bite while shopping. We weren't too hungry so we got the bruschetta, 4 meatballs and the antipasto salad. The meatballs were so good and so big. the sauce that came with it was delicious. The bruschetta was also good. The antipasto salad was just a regular salad with pepperoni on it, it wasn't what i get at Italian restaurants when I order this salad. Service was good and I saw that they have great happy hour specials even though we were there for lunch. I definitely recommend the meatballs!

Well... we came around 2:00pm for lunch we had to wait a while to be seated and noticed there are only 2 servers for the busy restaurant. Food was good but the wait was long. They should have gotten more people to work on a busy Sunday. Many people came shopping at Freeport. Server was apologetic about the wait.

Great! Friendly, quaint, delicious. Lasagna was on point. Perfect gravy and lasagna like my nana. Mussels app was huge and spicy shrimp was great. As a 3rd gen Italian, recommended!

I loved the pesto caprese panini. Super yummy. You can substitute a salad for the chips and pickle for a small charge. There is an outdoor seating area, part of which is sheltered. Our waitress was efficient and polite, not overly friendly (I'm not complaining). Overall, a good choice.

I've never had a bad meal at Petrillo's, but the standout (in my opinion) is definitely the house-made Limoncello. Mm-mm-mmmmm! Though space is very limited, the atmosphere is never overbearing due to this minor setback. The wait staff is absolutely wonderful, and so very accommodating, and always willing to offer their suggestions when you're not *quite* sure what to get. My waitress even sent me home with a to-go cup of hot water because she overheard me say that my door lock was frozen shut. Most people would have probably looked at me like I was nuts or just ignored my plight. Also: The meatballs? Ah-may-zing. Highly recommended!

Petrilo's is a friendly and cozy local spot in Freeport with solid comfort style food. Also, they have an ok beer and wine selection. A much better draw would be to have all beer taps with great local micro brews (like Foundation, Oxbow, Rising Tide, Banded Horn, Bunker, Baxter) and a slightly larger wine selection as the the "by glass" wines are very mediocre. Food is good quality, presented well and fair for the price. Adding a couple healthier options and local fish would be nice additions. Worth visiting!

I wish I had come earlier! Simple, good, comfort food with super nice people at good price. Came in out of the wind for a bite of desert, and loved the canolli's but the mussel risotto special my neighbor had looked and smelled amazing and he concurred. Why didn't I just come for dinner too? I regret I fell prey to the tourist trap up the street which, while not awful, was not worth the $$$$. I have 3 more days here and I will be back!

Great hidden spot behind the mall. I learned about it from a guy they had passing out menu flyers on Main Street. I am very happy I took the flyer and walked here(while my wife shopped). I was welcomed by a very pleasant, happy, and attentive bartender/server to a nice clean open lounge. I had a panini that was perfectly cooked, and a local(to Maine) Baxter beer. I highly recommend this wonderful establishment.

I went here yesterday for the 1st time. I'm definitely a fan and will most surely be returning. My bff and I ordered the panzanella salad and the mussels in the garlic wine sauce to start. We also both ordered a glass of the house pinot grigio. I'll start with the panzanella The balsamic dressing was perfect, not to heavy, or bitter. The tomatoes were nice fresh chunks of vine ripened ones. The greens were fresh and delicious. My only complaint is I wish instead of the croutons(which were good) they had served it with the more traditional chunks of crusty bread(better to sop up the dressing with). The serving side was perfect. Now onto the mussels- They smelled divine. The sauce was outstanding. You weren't overwhelmed with to much garlic. They had two lovely pieces of bread that you could dip in the juices. The serving size was a great size for a shared appetizer or for a single lunch. The pinot grigio- We both ordered the house pinot. At $3.50 a glass I didn't exactly have high expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. It really reminded me of my college days in Italy at a little hole in the wall trattoria and drinking cheap but good table wine. We were still hungry after the 1st course so we ordered the mushroom raviolis to share. We were served this plate of HUGE homemade raviolis. They were in a bed of the most delicious cream sauce( if licking a plate in public wasn't deemed poor table manners I know we would have). The filling was outstanding, nice huge pieces of portobello mushrooms. This is one of the best ravioli dishes I have ever had. Now for the piece de resistance "angels singing" TIRAMISU The whole day my girlfriend kept talking about their mouth watering Tiramisu. It did not disappoint. It was served in a martini glass. The top layer of the marscapone was thick and melted in your mouth. The cake layer was sopping wet in the coffee liqueur. The bottom of the glass had a fresh dollop of whipped cream. YUMMMMM I really loved it here. The waitstaff was terrific, the patio seating was perfect and the food was amazing.

I liked it! Service ,Food and bloody Mary were great . We where in Freeport coming back from Bar Harbor, by the way still can't find a good restaurant or bar in Bar Harbor. Anyway had the grilled chicken over risotto tasted home made. Was driving all day and that was the first I ate all day, could have eaten more so thats why I didn't give it 5 stars

Interestingly, Petrillo's was recommended to us by a member of the staff at Cabela's in Scarborough, ME and we were driving north. Being a spaghetti and meatballs fan, I ordered the meatballs and marinara over pasta and really enjoyed it. The marinara was very pleasant, not acidic and not sweet, but with full flavor. The meatballs were very tasty as well. Yeah, I know anyone can make spaghetti and meatballs, but what I had at Petrillo's far exceeds what is served in the chain restaurants.

We went on a Tues night...not busy. The service was great, friendly and fast. The food was, in my opinion, average and over priced. Not much for atmosphere...Dom's pizza was good, good whole wheat crust. The eggplant lasagna was "off", but neither my husband or I could ID the problem. If the check was about $10 cheaper we would probably go back and try something else.

Came here after reading some somewhat mixed reviews and found it to be great. The staff were very friendly when we arrived, and accommodated our request to seat outside. When we noticed shortly after being seated that someone was smoking nearby and wanted to move, they had no problem with that, and even spoke to the person who was smoking. We started with the garlic bread which was great. Then for mains we had meatball marinara, veal parmesan, a chicken caesar salad, and The Aloha pizza. Each was great, and everyone in my party throughly enjoyed their meal. The salad wasn't terribly large, but otherwise the portions were bigger than average. For desert we had dark chocolate sorbetto, creme brulee, and tiramisu. Each was again great, and was devoured quickly, topping off a great meal. I would definitely come back here when I'm in Freeport again, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting. The cost was a little on the high side, but then again it was about on par for places within walking distance of the L.L.Bean store, so bear that in mind.

Nice meal!! We had a variety of food! Bruschetta was yummy! Grilled chicken , goat cheese salad Was good too. Kids had pasta dishes. They were good but meatballs were super salty. Husband had pizza ... Said it as good! Overall, nice dinner!

I got a cuban panini. It was good. The chips with it seemed cheap. The soup of the day was not great.

I have been to Petrillo's several times over the past few years. Before my recent experience, I would have given it higher marks. The food was pretty good, but last week was an exception. My daughter and I agreed to meet there on a very crowded Saturday night before a local theater event. I was 2nd in line for a table and the waitress said it would probably be about 10 minutes. 20 minutes later, she said the rest of the tables were for reservations. If we had known that, we would have gone somewhere else. Finally about 25-30 min after arriving, we got a table. I told the waitress that I had somewhere to go in about 20 minutes and I presumed that by ordering a simple salad, I would have time to get it and go. She agreed. I ordered a salad, my daughter ordered a BBQ Pork Pizza. After 15 more minutes, still no salad. I did get the salad with barely enough time to finish it, but we got the pizza to go. After we got to the theatre, we were able to eat the pizza before the show. Each bite of BBQ Pork had a large amount of fat in it. Yuck! Very disappointing. This isn't the worst part. On my way through Freeport on the following Monday afternoon, I stopped into the restaurant to tell the manager (or someone else) about the experience of all the fat in the BBQ Pork. I was greeted by a man who asked if he could help me and I explained the situation. He asked if I let the manager know and I told him that I couldn't that night because we got the pizza to go. I asked him if he was the manager. He held out his hand and introduced himself as Dominic Petrillo, the owner. Then he asked if I had called back to let the manager know of my objection. At this point, I felt like I was being grilled as to why this was the first time I made the complaint (less than 48 hrs later). I even brought in my receipt to show him. I finally just told Dominic that I wanted him to let the kitchen know that biting into fat on a pizza was terrible and they should be more aware of that. He said he would let them know. I did expect to be offered some sort of compensation such as a gift certificate in an offer for me to come back and have a better pizza. Nothing. He never offered anything. Although we've had a pretty good basic pizza there in the past, considering the lack of competence with the waitress and the rudeness and cavalier attitude of the owner, I can't think of a reason to go to Petrillo's again.

I ordered a calzone here, and was not impressed. It was essentially a 12" pizza folded in half and drenched in oil. Typically when I order a calzone, it's not a whole pizza just folded over. On top of that, I requested chicken inside the "calzone", which was a $3 addition. There were 2 pieces of chicken in the whole thing. The server was also very forgetful...like forgetting to bring us water. For me the only redeeming quality was the $2.50 PBR tall boys. I went here mainly because they are part of the US Airways dividend miles dining program...and I do not plan to ever return.

Nice waitress - I had salmon over risotto. The salmon with a lemon caper sauce was divine and the risotto was a little over buttery and salty, but so delicious nonetheless!

Good looking menu with many gluten free options and variations. Some of the best gluten free pizza crust we've had. Patio seating is nice in the summer. We went for lunch but I can see how it would get busy in the evenings.

Nice but not astoundingly good. The place seems torn out of the Napa Valley's Bohemian best, with "James Taylor-y" background music and equally trendy customers. Indoor and outdoor dining is available. The "artisan bread" is pretty bland- we had to ask for some balsamic vinegar to dunk it in. With a little salt and balsamic, the bread was OK. The linguine red sauce was very heavy on the sweet side and the meatballs, though of a nice texture, were heavy with rosemary, which often overpowers whatever you put it in. We had two different paninis, eggplant and chicken sausage, both pretty decent, and very rich. They looked small but were very filling. They came with an old Italian specialty, potato chips. For dessert we split a tiramisu, which was good but devoid, so far was we could tell, of zabaglione. The place is a little out of the way, but right across from the huge free parking garage. Freeport is a retail town, what with LL Bean and a number of other trendy stores. The cutesy buildings were of New England style but all appeared to have been built last summer.

Found this place on yelp while vacationing/shopping up in Maine at the LL Bean store. Wasn't really expecting much but it was delicious. Salad was nice and fresh and the pasta was done very well. Thanks!

REALLY beginning to have a thing for this little place... Cute, warm, inviting, and recently expanded, Petrillo's offers tasty pizzas and Italian favorites at exceptionally reasonable prices. Margarita Pizza with fresh basil is $8. Share the pizza, and split one of their yummy salads and you've got a great meal for two! Good wines by the glass, nice selection of beers and specialty cocktails. All menu items are available for take-out. TIP: From 3-6pm week-days, beers are half-price, and house wine is $2/glass! Good food, friendly service. I'm looking forward to becoming a regular.

Around the corner from Main Street, this might be hard to miss (unlessyou Yelp the place). I read the mixed reviews and decided that I was hungry for a pizza and that I would give it a try. I'm giving Petrillo's a thumbs up for the service, which was prompt, the speed, which was fast and the prices, which were reasonable. I also think it's kind of cool to be able to access the porch throughout the year - it makes the place larger (seemed small at first) and gives it more of a "house feel". I'm giving it four stars based on my pizza. I just wasn't really impressed with the pie as a whole. It was more like something that I could make in my kitchen. There was a pretty good menu and I saw some of the other food that was coming out, so I'm sure that I'd definitely go back......just not for the pizza.

As soon as my family and I walked in we were greeted and after a short wait at the bar we were seated. Many of the people in the restaurant were locals and very chatty with us and our kids. I even met the hostesses aunt while waiting at the bar. The pesto chicken pizza was delicious and so were some of the local brews they have on tap ( I don't remember which one specifically). I would definitely go here again. I loved the small local restaurant atmosphere even in what is becoming a tourist town.

I came to Petrillo's my first night in Freeport, and was first struck by how small but cozy it felt; it reminds me of a typical little restaurant you might find on the corner in Italy - it would never call your attention for grandeur or distinct style, but those are often the places that serve really great food. I'm giving this 5 stars because I think the food is solid, especially for the price. Not mind-altering flavors, but very very good for its value. The special - lobster penne arrabiata - was definitely enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit when in Freeport!

Good lunch for sure and on the back road so less busy when there are millions of shoppers on the main street. I had a pesto chicken caesar wrap that was great and my lunchmate had a great looking salad. I wish my wrap came with better chips than a handful of ruffles but that is my only complaint everything else was great. Also the price was right, I would love to go back if I'm ever in Freeport because the pizza looked fantastic.

Just visited Petrillo's for the first time. I'm fond of small restaurants in general and this place is certainly small. There are just a couple of tables "inside" and then there is a 4 seasons outdoor dining area with more tables. This tine of year the enclosed outdoor area is kept warm by large, silent heaters. As a beer fan, I can't speak to the wine list but the beers were very limited. You'll find 5 or 6 bottled beers, 2 of which are bud products. This is the type of place that could really go over the top with a beer or two that would pair nicely with some of the menu selections. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals, served in large bowls. The meatballs were fantastic. A serving owo very large homemade meatballs was the perfect portion size. The star of the meal though was the spinach and artichoke dip. We were all huge fans of this. It wasn't mashed and smashed into a cream cheese kind of dip but was really fresh, lighter and amazing. I wouldn't visit Petrillo's without ordering this item. The smells from the kitchen will make you want to sit there forever. A really great meal is what you'll find here. The only points Petrillo's loses with me are based on a slightly confused server, and minor presentation details. Cloth napkins, nice dinner dishes but the app plates were cheap plastic and water glasses were red plastic coke cups. Cleaning up those cheaper things would be an easy fix. Add a really upscale beer or two to the list and it's 5 stars.

My family and I ate here one recent Saturday night. We received a table outdoors which was quite enjoyable. My husband and I orded two pizzas - the pizza alla vodkas, which had a creamy tomato sauce, mushrooms, and hot sausage and another pizza with pesto, fresh mozzarella and prosciutto. They were very good. Our issues didn't lie with the food, so much. Once our food was delivered we never saw up our waitress again. We wanted another drink, but were never able to order one. Also, the kids' menu was not very good. The drinks were not included in the price and their value varied. My son ordered a a grilled cheese panini for $5.00 which had a large filled cheese which he enjoyed, servd with chips and pickles. My daughter ordered penne with butter, also for $5.00, and it was he smallest bowl of pasta we've ever seen, and it didnt come with anything. For a $5.00 bowl of pasta, either make it larger or accompany it with bread or something. Overall, the pizza was good, but for families, stick with he pizza and stay away from the kids menu.

Fair-to-good italian around the block from the shopping district. Not amazing in decor or execution (can be over-seasoned and everything seems to have caramelized onions) but quick service and good value.

Petrillo's has been my destination restaurant for almost five years since I started traveling New England. It was recommended by a local person who worked at the JCPenney in Auburn. I was never disappointed. The eatery is inviting and I always sit at the bar because I travel alone. Dom, the owner and head chef always has a special or you can order from a wide variety of entrees. I have had the pizza once which was excellent but it must be popular because I see so much going out the door from locals. It is a family restaurant. Gets pretty crowded sometime even t hough he expanded a couple years ago. He expanded and his business grew. Located a few steps away from the Amtrak depot, it makes the perfect end to a shopping day in Freeport. Have a great meal and catch the train back to Boston. I brought my manager here last year who lives in New York and was amazed at the town and the food at Petrillo's. There are lots of choices in Freeport where I can spend my food money but I know when I eat at Dom's, the food will be memorable.

Petrillo's is one of a kind. The actual restaurant is very small but it's perfect for a group up to 6. Outdoor seating, even in the winter, it's cozy and relaxing. The food is over the top amazing. Fresh ingredients = high quality meals that will leave you salivating for more. This place is a hidden gem.

This was definitely an enjoyable meal; we had a fresh antipasto salad, a very nice veggie pizza with a thin but substantial crust, and a really unique orange amaretto cheesecake. They have a selection of local beers, a cozy atmosphere, and good food with original and interesting flavor combinations. The tables are a bit small, but we managed with four people. Bigger groups should probably call ahead.

Too expensive. This place serves everything that you could find at any old pizza joint, but charges an extra five dollars. I'd debate giving this place two stars, but seeing as there are about four other pizza places within ten miles, this place doesn't deserve any better of a rating. The pizza is thin, stale, and lacking strong flavor, you are better off ordering Dominos.

This restaurant is cozy and delicious. I had the braised lamb pasta special (only $14) and it was amazing. The artichoke and spinach dip is great. We got three servings for a party of 7. One of my friends got an eggplant and tomato pizza (pretty cheap, quality toppings), and the pizza was good. I'm from ny, so I usually never rate other pizzas very high. I think the pasta is definitely the way to go when you come to this restaurant. Its served with fresh foccacia and in a giant bowl that, for some reason, just makes it more fun to eat. The waiter was also extremely friendly and helpful, always good about checking in. The tiramisu for dessert was heavenly. I only wish I could have gotten some to go. Sitting outside in the warm Maine breeze was also an added plus. The only negative is the giant shadow from the new parking garage across the street.

Hands down the best pizza north of Portland. The crust is thin and crisp, the toppings taste like quality products and the cheese is perfect. It all gets that wood oven crispness, love it!

Sitting at the southern corner of the bar last night, I had the company of four empty PBR cans, an empty bud light and various dirty dishes. They were finally removed as my check came forty minutes later. The bar area was full and lively. Waitress, friendly to locals and a hard worker, obviously has no training in service and the bar itself had apparently had no effective supervision. Food was very good but the service ruined the experience.

While looking for somewhere to eat near LL Bean I came across this place. At ten till closing they welcomed us with open arms and were engaging to my family and two young boys. "If the doors are open we are open" was the comment I received when apologizing for our late arrival. The food was good and they menu was diverse. The variations of pizza (thin crust) were diverse and interesting. I would highly recommend this place. Prego!

Can't review the food because I never got a table. Put my name on the list, and was told 30 minutes, 30 minutes later it was still another half hour. Unfortunately I had to leave and grab food at a fast food Resturant. It was also frustrating to see another 4 person party take chairs from a corner table, seat themselves, and get service without delay.

Sad place to eat. Terrible food, slow service, angry staff. Don't waste your time here...

The pizza was OK. There are better places on main street with cheaper pizza, more room and better. We won't bother going back

Prego!

Sunday's northeaster knocked out our power, or at least contributed to the idiot that took out the utility pole that caused us to lose our power right around lunch time on Sunday. I've walked by Petrillo's many times and have contemplated stopping. Sunday was a good excuse to drop in for a late brunch/lunch and sit at the bar. With the wind whipping outside, the recently-covered patio area was a bit too breezy and we were freezing, hence the bar seating. Actually, I like eating at the bar, so it's all good. My wife captured my sentiments exactly when she said after we left, "the food was much better than I expected it to be." That it was! I went with their Lasagna Bolognese, based on one of my favorite Italian-style sauces. Petrillo's version is rich Ricotta cheese , and flecked generously with their house-made chicken sausage, a perfect blend of spices and flavorings, and the portion is a hearty one. I added their simple house salad, made with locally-sourced greens, tomatoes, croutons, onions, and a nice balsamic vinaigrette on the side. My wife's steak and cheese made me envious. I had a bite and thought, "I'd have been very happy with this." It's more of a pressed sandwich version than the traditional steak and cheese sub common to Maine restaurants. This was an excellent version. We both opted to go with the tomato bisque (mine) and the clam chowder (my better half). We agreed that both were excellent. The only quibble was the draftiness, which wouldn't be a problem during the warmer months. Also, the service was a bit on the slow side, although it wasn't an issue for us, as we weren't in a rush. I'm thinking I'll be checking them out again, perhaps for a Friday happy hour drink and appetizer visit.

A bit pricey ($19 for lasagna bolognese), served on plastic plates (you chose to have terracotta tile on the floor; how about you eat the loss of an occasional broken dish?), subpar service. Gave it a whirl, likely not again though.

We eat often at Petrillo's. The soups are some of the best in the area, with special mention of the chef's shepherd's pie soup. The pizza has a wonderful thin crust, plus he has a real flair for pork dishes. His sauces and seasonings are creative and delicious. But in addition to good food, what draws us back is a waitress named Sammy, who expresses not just courtesy but special warmth to everyone she serves. She's obviously a favorite with a lot of patrons.

I went here with my mom for lunch and it was pretty decent. Parking is no problem, especially with the parking garage across the street. The waitress was very nice and our meal was a good portion for the price. We did go for a late lunch, so we didn't have to wait to be seated. I would like to go back and try their pizza.

We had the opportunity to have a nice dinner at Petrillo's recently and was pleasantly surprised. Dom, the owner, makes all the sauces from scratch with great care. Sam, the manager, is delightful and works hard to accommodate your needs. The lasagna and chicken Parmesan was great. Try the their homemade chicken sausage, unbelievable flavor. We would definitely go back.

Really enjoyed our meal with our two boys who are in high school and college. They were very busy upon arrival and we actually started to leave before being seated when the hostess chased after us apologizing for being busy and offering to seat us. Awesome location if shopping or going to movies.

My fiancé remarked that it was a forgettable meal. It was good, don't get me wrong, but not a place to savor your bites. When we arrived it was bustling with tourists. We had the choice of the bar or 30 minute wait. We took the bar since we were not up for waiting around. The app of spinach artichoke dip was out in about 20 minutes and was the highlight of the meal experience. The meal came out soon after our last bite of dip. When the meal was finished is when the issue started with service. We wanted to head out and it was 20 minutes of waiting for the waitress to give us our bill. I mean we could have been loud, but that's not our thing. She was very nice, moved fast, but seemed to lose track of us sitting at the end with empty plates and glasses. Bummer.

I visited Petrillo's March 24,2014, I was starving so my fiance and myself ordered their garlic bread appetizer and their Lobster Alfredo dish. The reason this wasn't a perfect visit is because I couldn't taste the garlic in my garlic bread however the homemade dipping sauce was incredible. I shared the Lobster Alfredo with my fiance, it looked amazing but the Lobster was cold and I couldn't taste the Alfredo. Everything is homemade and flavorful but not on point.

My husband and I went to Petrillos yesterday for lunch, and then again for dessert after some shopping. We started with the meatball appetizer - yum! One giant meatball, which was a perfectly sized appetizer that didn't leave you full before your meal arrived. I had the pasta special, shrimp with prosciutto in a creamy Parmesan garlic sauce. The sauce is made fresh so they had no problem leaving out the garlic because of my food allergy. It was unbelievably good. So tasty, well cooked, and the shrimp was great. Can't wait to eat my leftovers! My husband had a chicken panini with a balsamic reduction. He really liked it. We came back for dessert, the pineapple bread pudding a la mode. So good! Highly recommend this local spot. It's small and fills up quickly for dinner, so get there early or make reservations.

My friend and I had lunch at Petrillo's today. As a resident of Freeport I have eaten at almost all the restaurants in town. This was by far the worst lunch in Freeport. I ordered a haddock sandwich on a focaccia roll. For $ 10.50 it was the skimpiest piece of of broiled haddock and undercooked. I returned it and ordered a salad with chicken. My main reason for two stars is that the portion of salmon in my pan roasted salmon with risotto was laughable. 3 ounces if they're lucky and for $19 was a joke. It was 10 parts risotto one part salmon. I ate three slices of my sisters pizza after eating the salmon. My manhattan on the other hand was great! If I ever go back I will only be getting a pizza and nothing else.

We stopped here to eat after someone at LLBean recommended it when we were visiting from out of town. The prices here were ridiculous. We ordered 4 of meatballs as an appetizer, and at $3 EACH, it was a total ripoff, at $12! The meatballs were dry and not much bigger than a golf ball. Supremely disappointing! The spinach and artichoke dip was in a small bowl with about 6 pieces of toasted bread. The dip was about 1/2 INCH in depth and at $9 was just totally overpriced! The sandwiches were nothing special, and were expensive at $13 and $14.50! The sprite tasted like seltzer water and the cola had no carbonation Our middle aged female server, with long blonde hair was rude and seemed very unhappy in her job. If you want sub-par food at double the price, with rude service, please, feel free!

Quirky space, friendly staff and nice happy hour specials for beer and wine. Pizza, salads, and pasta meals are all tasty and fairly priced. Conveniently located in downtown Freeport.

we were looking for something light for dinner and settled on Petrillos, the staff was super friendly and we were served quickly. We got the steak and cheese with the house salad and it was very good, the flavors just blended well together and made for a satisfying light meal which is what I was looking for.

I would definitely come back here when I'm in Freeport again, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting.

Prego!

Bummer.

Ate a quick lunch. Three dishes and an appetizer all well prepared. Excellent service. Easy location with plenty of parking.

Limited space but a great place for lunch. Wonderful staff and great food. We loved the pickles and BBQ sauce!

My wife had margarita pizza, and was underwhelmed. Perhaps we are pizza snobs having lived for 3 years in Italy. Not a bad pizza but certainly not "authentic Italian Pizza." I had the Lobster Alfredo and it was OK. The white sauce was a bit watery. Pasta was cooked nicely.

Quirky space, friendly staff and nice happy hour specials for beer and wine. Pizza, salads, and pasta meals are all tasty and fairly priced. Conveniently located in downtown Freeport.

I love Petrillos! I love Petrillos! I love Petrillos! The homemade meatballs are incredible. The pizza is killer and the atmosphere is great. It feels love or you are off the beaten path, yet you are still in the mix. This place will not disappoint.

I loved the pesto caprese panini. Super yummy. You can substitute a salad for the chips and pickle for a small charge. There is an outdoor seating area, part of which is sheltered. Our waitress was efficient and polite, not overly friendly (I'm not complaining). Overall, a good choice.

The owner, Dom Petrillo came over and said he cooked my meal and said he was sorry I didn't like it but never agreed it was unacceptable. Our salads were nothing to write home about either!

If the check was about $10 cheaper we would probably go back and try something else.

we were looking for something light for dinner and settled on Petrillos, the staff was super friendly and we were served quickly. We got the steak and cheese with the house salad and it was very good, the flavors just blended well together and made for a satisfying light meal which is what I was looking for.

Food looked wonderful...unfortunately, we never got to taste it. After waiting 10 minutes to be seated (with no wait ahead of us) while 7 tables sat clean, vacant and unreserved, we decided to dine elsewhere. Really disappointing.

Really enjoyed our meal with our two boys who are in high school and college. They were very busy upon arrival and we actually started to leave before being seated when the hostess chased after us apologizing for being busy and offering to seat us. We had salad, pizza and burgers and all were very good with nice presentation. Very pleased with the food and price was reasonable. Very courteous waitress / host. Will definitely return. Awesome location if shopping or going to movies.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
