After days of trying good, local beer, we wandered into Gritty McDuff's. It was disappointing. It is a very cool building, but the beer was not good. We ordered an IPA and the Vacationland and decided not to try anything else. I drink IPAs nearly every day and this one was not good. I wouldn't drink another one if it were free. The Vacationland was okay, not great. It is worth the experience to see the place. Hopefully, their other beers are better.

Stayed in Freeport with my wife and some friends, and ended a long day at Gritty's for a night cap. I had a ESB on cask and it was quite good. There were two options on cask, and I always enjoy having more than one option on cask. If I wasn't driving, I would have tried the sampler which had all of the beers available. I did not try the food. The place definitely has an older feel to it. Plenty of seating outside. Glad I stopped by. Picked up a six pack of "Maine's best IPA" to take back to the hotel, and it was a very solid balanced IPA.

Gosh. Been coming here for fourteen years for the great beer, food & awesome waitstaff'.

The 3 stars are for the beer - the food doesn't deserve more than 2. My lamb gyro should've been called baby spinach gyro with some lamb and the sweet potato fries were lukewarm. Hubby's burger was not seasoned and too tightly packed and the onions were not fully cooked. Fries weren't hot either. Not worth the money.

Very local pub. We came in after a fun day of shopping in Freeport and to fuel up before hitting L.L. Bean. My friends started with some of their local brews. They have 6 beers on tap and she tried 4 of them. Some of the meals are made with the beers too. For dinner, we ordered the Shephards Pie, Cajun fish and chips and the turkey burger. I've had better turkey burgers but it wasn't terrible. The shephards pie also came with salad. We also got desserts: malt chocolate cheesecake and the oreo pie. The oreo pie was AWESOME, so get that one without any hesitation. Service was great and we could get seperate checks too.

I love this place. We always find plenty that is great to eat and the beer is awesome. Stop in during the winter for a nice quiet meal and their amazing Christmas Ale. In the summer it can get busy but they have great seafood specials and their Summer Ale is so refreshing. This is a family favorite for us.

We went on a Saturday afternoon and it took 40 minutes for them to bring out a cold chicken sandwich and bland burrito. I would stick to beer and some apps if you go. Great outdoor seating!

Waited way too long and passed by and overlooked by at least 6 employees before being seated, but we were hungry after a day at Beans and needed some food before we headed home south. Our waitress was nice, but not very helpful and lacked some service. Food was just bleh. I ordered a turkey sandwich and the hubs had some kind of kielbasa sandwich. His description, "junk!". Fries were cold. We ordered our toddler some mac n cheese and it was HORRIBLE. He wouldn't even eat it and this kid eats everything. We couldn't even eat it. The flavor was just gross with a huge lack of cheese. And again, cold. I would not go back ever, but to maybe have a beer, but that is even doubtful. Not recommended.

The food is great. The staff is excellent. Sitting outside on a nice day is awesome. The live music is wonderful.

Good lunch specials....although the lobster roll and chowder was not up to par as far as maine standards go. Lobster Roll was half the size youd get at any seafood lunch place and I didn't get any seafood in my chowder, good broth and lots of potatos but zero clams. Should have known when the price was only $11.99. Good microbrews and drink specials though.

OK... folks of Freeport, why is it that when women laugh in this joint, they sound like a hen laying a egg?? Just an observation, but damn that place is loud and gets piercing when a punch line collides with a microbrew. I digress... First, I must admit that I am not an expert on beer, but I did find the Casco Light to be very refreshing and tasty, although not as good as the raspberry wheat. If I have time permitting, I would like to go back for the halloween brew, but not sure if thats gonna happen or not. As for the food... The bread sticks are not worth the effort... skip them, please! I had the cajun fish and chips. The chips were very good and plentiful. The fish pieces were long and narrow, sort of like fish sticks, but certainly NOT the kind you buy with a picture of a fisherman from a town on the coast of Massachusetts. The batter was light and crispy allowing the flavor of the fish to come thru. Big points for this! The cajun spice gave it a interesting element (who would consider haddock and cajun spices) that I found to be really good. The drink and dessert menu had great variety and was tempting, but not this time around. Almost all of the tables are long tables with bench seats, so if your a small number in party, chances are you will be at the opposite end of the table from another small numbered party. Also, there is almost no acoustical absorbing material, and with the high ceilings, it can get LOUD.

  • Robert S.

Good, filling pub food. Had the fish and chips. The homeade chips were excellent and the Haddock was fresh and nicely fried. Also has a great beer selection. I chose an IPA to pair with my meal and was not disappointed. Would recommend, will eat again.

What do you want a Ale. How about Red Claws Ale to support local sports team. Also my favorite. I dont normally order much other then finger foods, nachos, salid. The outside area is really nice. Some people come as large groups and get rowdy. I have never been by alone or without meeting up with others. I dont think i would like to either. Bring some good friends with you. This is place is what you and your friends make it! Make it fun!

I have been here before, but this time was great. The staff was very kind in changing our seats after I found one room had no TV to watch the Sunday football games. This is great if you are not into sports and want a quieter lunch or dinner. The dinning area in the bar was great with three TVs and plenty of large tables to accommodate big families are two smaller parties at one table. This was great because you can make friends so long as the people next to you are the friendly type. There are a lot of beers at this micro brewery (?) and because I wanted to try them all, I opted for the sampler set. Very nice! I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccoli which was perfect. My wife had the lobster mac & cheese which she enjoyed. Be forewarned that it comes with fired jalapenos. Overall it was a great meal, good beer, and all at a nice price. Staff was on top of their game as well.

I love fine dining, I do. But give me a pub and I'm a happy girl. I love the laidback atmosphere, comfort food, and beer. Gritty McDuff's was cited as a popular favorite in the Chicago Sun-Times' article about Freeport, and its many positive Yelp reviews backed it up. When my boyfriend and I were in town a couple of weeks ago, we couldn't resist visiting Gritty's. I thoroughly enjoyed the Original Ale, and the Pale Ale is great too! I was eaten alive by mosquitos on the muggy night we went, but the outdoor patio is really just a huge, family-style deck, complete with picnic tables and umbrellas! I had an excellent time relaxing here. Families can enjoy sitting out on the lawn, as there's plenty of room to kick back and play. We tried their chicken wings to start, which were delicious, flavorful, and just fatty enough. Yum! I opted for the lobster roll, which was light yet delicious with a nice toasty bun. This is yet another "must return to" when I plan for Maine again.

I have to agree with Poochie M. - Freeport is for shoppers but Gritty's is for those who would rather not shop (I did, however, pick up a new pocket knife at LL Bean). The weekend we were in town was fabulous - warm, sunny days and cool nights. Freeport was packed and if you wanted to buy any kind of name brand there was a store for you. but this is about Gritty's, not shopping. Gritty's is all about beer, food and more beer. The three of us enjoyed the Haddock sandwich, Basic Burger and Cajun Pork Melt - all of them were great. The beer was good as well. Outdoor seating looked nice but there was a line so we opted for the bar and college football. This had to be the quietest bar I have ever been in when there was a football game on the tube. When questioned by someone else at the bar a customer turned and said "what do you expect, you are in Maine?" Try this place - you will like it. They also have a location off of Commercial Street in Portland.

Our first night in Freeport we ate here. It's just what I was craving. Good PUB food, with a good Pub atmosphere. Appears to be a hang out for Maine, locals looking to kick back and relax. Love all the MUGS hanging over the bar. I guess you buy your own and use it ever time you go, with discounts on beer. Great idea. I drank Gritty's own brew. After sucking down 1, 2, 3... I was hooked. You can eat inside or outside. I was a beautiful spring night and families were eating outside while their kids played in this fenced off area. Very nice. If you like home brewed beer & pub food this place is for you... Bought my own Gritty's glass to take home...

  • Rachael F.

I love this place. We come here almost every time we're in Maine. These food is such great comfort food. I always cite the mac and cheese with the fried jalapeños and blackened chicken as my all time favorite mac and cheese. Last time I was there I had a Thanksgiving sandwich. Oh my God, nothing hits the spot better on a wintery day in Maine. Haven't had too many of the beers, but the Scottish Ale is great. The things that really rounds out this place is that it feels really Mainey to me with the bench style seating and all the locals. Really loud and lots of kids, but for some reason it sort of feels like people coming together more than annoying? Hard to explain.

The beer was OK, the food, not so much. The IPA was good, but nothing particularly memorable. The regular, not special, bitter was also acceptable. The "Lobster" role was bland; the lettuce was the best part of it. (Not sure if was real lobster.) I'm certain the clam chowder came from a large can from Sysco. The fries were the highlight of the visit. Nice, large outdoor deck area. This place most be popular and get crowded, as the parking lot was quite large. (I think it's a popular after work place for LL Beaners.)

To preface my review, my opinion of this place my be a little biased. I grew up not far from this establishment and spent many a 21 year old summer nights here drinking on the patio chilling with friends, but that all aside let me continue. I will start with the only negative, the food. It is good on average, but I say "on average" because I have had some poor tasting meals here and some great tasting meals here, but I have narrowed in on one thing there that is consistently great, the nachos. There is nothing better to do in this place then go with a few friends, order a round of beers, a whole plate of nachos and chill out. As for the beer I can't get enough of it. They have styles for every beer palate. They have the Pub Style for the light beer drinkers, the Black Fly Stout for the heavy and dark beer drinkers, then most everything else in between those. If you are lucky enough to stop by on a spring day, get the Scottish Ale. It's a spring seasonal and one of the tastiest reds I have ever had. And if you don't like their beer, yes, they do have a full bar of other beers and spirits. If you are in the Freeport area some night and looking for something to do with your buds, it's a no brainer, go to Gritty's.

Awesome place- has a great Irish vibe with the situated bench tables. The beer is incredible if you like microbrew (if you don't they have Bud Light and mixed drinks as well as wine). The staff always seems helpful and friendly. Be prepared to wait on some Friday and Saturday nights for a table, thou!

  • Edward B.

For pub food, not bad. It seems to handle its sandwiches fairly well. The place would deserve 4 stars if ranked on the beer alone. The place serves up some great brews, and has a variety of flavors on tap. In terms of atmosphere, the place felt very much like a locals hangout (at least on a weeknight); not a bad thing, but I definitely felt like the "out-of-towner"

    (3)
  • Missy S.

I used to live in Freeport and work in Portland, and I hate to say it, but the Portland location is soooooo much better! Not only in atmosphere, but the food also! Every time we would try this location, it was lacking something, either the Grittys chips were done wrong (or were just super greasy), or some food was cold or lacking....we were just always disappointed. We gave it several tries and finally gave up. It just isnt the same! If you have the time, drive the short distance into the Old Port! Otherwise, try a different place in Freeport, there are so many wonderful places!

Same great beer and pub grub as in Portland's Old Port. One advantage in the summer is a huge outside deck.

  • Mrs S.

Stopped in for diner Sunday night, sat in the bar area (too darn hot to sit outside on the spacious deck) Food was a little over priced, but then again it was Freeport, which is known to be a little pricy. $24 for a lobstah dinah, which included a Crustasean on the smaller side, corn on the cob, coleslaw, and "Gritty's Fries" now if ur up in Maine, you can usually get a lot more for that price. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese, it was pretty good. Wasn't all that impressed with the wine list, but then again it they brew their own beer there, so not much focus on "grape juice" if u will. The server made sure to correct my husband as he "misprononunced" a certain beer, was a little rude about it too. Overall, the menu wasnt all that impressive, was a little too pricey, and the food left a little to be desired. We give Gritty's a 6.5 out of 10

I loved Grittys in Portland so was excited to find it here in Freeport. Maybe I didn't order the right thing, Turkey club- was not good. Beer selection was good, entertaining one man band. Just overall quite an average night.

Having been to their other location in Portland, I will say this is the real deal here in Freeport. Had a fun night out for dinner with friends. Good service and yummy food.

This place is great...It is really casual...like a picnic inside....but the food is great....Lobsta!!!!! Steammers!!! And the beer is great!

  • Sandy B.

Most of the food tastes OK, at least if you come during the day. Once I got a burger and the meat tasted "old". Sometimes the tortilla chips with the nachos are stale. Some of the beer at Gritty's is bitter. The worst part about this Gritty's (compared to Gritty's in Auburn and Portland) is that, after eating here, we often don't feel well the next day. Can it be that they do not have the cleanest of kitchens?

  • Erin B.

We sat at the bar to see the bruins opening game. The best part about it was the nice man next to us. The bar tender had ZERO personality. Didn't mutter a word unless he had to clarify something. Seemed a bit annoyed that we were there to relax and weren't ready to order the first 3 times he asked us. (we DID have drinks already though.) The lights were much too bright, and the entire place was lacking ambiance they really could have had. They take it for granted they are the only low key sports bar on that strip, and don't spend as much time on the personality of this place. too bad.

    (2)
  • Chris G.

In yelp terms, this is as good as it gets. WARNING: I am biased. I have been a mug club member damn near since it inception, but love so much about this place it is crazy. Often times the staff is... um.... quirky in their service quality, but hey, thats just part of the experience. Laid back. Highlights include: The freaking beer! The Halloween should not be missed, nor the Black Fly. The food is hit or miss - the chicken sandwich in used barley is great. Nachos and wings too. The outdoor seating and yard for post-paddle frisbee. The Brewtique. Hatings include: SO crowded on weekends, so watch out.

This place was like a more civilized Bukowski's, with better food and fewer beers. They have plenty of beer though, so don't worry! I am kind of femme, so I got a raspberry lager. It was amazing. Light and fresh, with just subtle tones of berry. My gf kept "trying a sip" so I ordered one for her too when she went to the bathroom. The food was right up there too. I got fish and chips, which was basic, but held it's own. Nicely seasoned fries and beer battered haddock, a perfect match for a pint. My gf went with the Brewer's Pie, which was an incredibly delicious, hearty beef stew served with a Caesar salad. Yeah, I was jealous. But I was still plenty pleased with my meal and beer, and I'll definitely go back next time we trek northward for outlet shopping or whatever. It's also very reasonably priced, our whole meal (with beer) was less than $30. If you're being dragged along on a trip, at least there's this excellent brewpub that you can stop into for a couple of pints to make the shopping less painful.

  • Kim G.

For some reason the name "Gritty McDuff's" makes me think of chain restaurants. The look of the place doesn't help either. But we really enjoyed grabbing lunch here before shopping at the outlets. Good beers (we tried the summer ale) and food specials. For food we did lobster roll/lobster bisque, both of which were fresh and satisfying. Nice deck to enjoy the sunshine.

Stopped in for lunch while visiting Freeport. This is a local watering hole that also has food. The Fish and Chips were average. The Mac & Cheese lacked cheesiness, but did have batter fried jalpenos on top...that was a bonus! The staff was friendly and service was good.

    (3)
  • Clayton M.

I would kill for the buffalo wings... they were done perfectly. the skin was crispy and the sauce was an actual sauce and not just texas pete dumped over frozen pre-breaded chicken wings. Being a home brewer, i have a great respect for the art of making beer and they have some really good ones on tap. I highly recommend

  • Scott S.

The very best things about this place were the almost-mediocre nachos. The pizza was horrible, and the service was worse. It should NOT take 15 minutes to get drink refills, and it shouldn't take 20 just to get the bill. I had to drive so I didn't have any alcohol... maybe their mixed drinks are really great. Being utterly smashed is the only reason I can think of why the other reviewers rated this place so well.

  • Julie D.

We've eaten here many times and love the food. While Gritty's is a beer pub, the food is fabulous and there are always families there with kids (they have toys in a box!). The beers are of course great, too!

    (5)
  • Savannah M.

I loved this place, great for families. You seat yourself but you sit with strangers. Great bands play nightly on weekends. They have all picnic tables you sit on. They have a back deck. I hated the turkey burger but the pizza and fish and chips were great. I would come back again, and enjoy myself.

  • Katie K.

i really enjoyed this place. food was delicious, esp the fries (i love brewery fries!!!) and the beer was excellent. great place to just hang out and enjoy the food and drink! also off the beaten path of the shops, which is nice. kind of gives you a break from the craziness of the bargain shoppers.

One of our favorite places to bring our kids. The food is reasonably priced and tasty, the atmosphere is laid-back and kid-friendly, and they have a terrific beer selection. If you're looking for a quite evening of refined dining, look elsewhere, but for a beer and a burger, Gritty's is the place to go.

  • Monica B.

Strong beer, delicious food, reasonable prices, great service. I will admit this place was our 2nd choice. Goal was going to a local lobster joint, but it turned out it was not yet open for lobster season. Womp womp. But, I'm really glad we chose this place. 2 twin lobster rolls and fries for $20. UNREAL. The mister had a lobster, steamers, and 3 different sides for $25. The beer I was told packed a punch and tasted really good (I was abstaining since I had a race the next day). Even though this was second fiddle, it made a good impression and if we are ever in town again, I'll definitely come back.

I ordered the clams and they were cooked well but I have never tried whole clams before so didn't particularly love them. Much prefer fried clam strips. My boyfriend ordered a burger and he asked for medium and it was cooked closer to well done. We ordered the pulled pork sweet potato fries as an appetizer and those were delicious. We had the option of sitting inside or outside. At first we chose inside, but the ambience was incredibly loud (you are seated at tables with other people), so we went outside. Within a minute, the mosquitos started biting. They need better lighting and mosquito eaters. My boyfriend ended up getting around 8 bites in less than 10 minutes so we were forced to sit back inside. Overall was alright but not a must eat for Maine and won't be visiting again.

My husband and I went here last night and it has it pros and cons. They don't have very many areas for small parties, we were set at a LONG picnic style table. The menu was kind of disappointing. It wasn't very big and it didn't have much of a selection. I get that it is mostly known for their beer, but it was very underwhelming... We started off with the calamari, which is something we normal order. There was nothing special about it. We got it tossed in some kind of garlic sauce. At first we didn't know where the sauce was and I originally thought the calamari was VERY greasy cause there was nothing but grease in the bottom of the bowl. Come to find out it was garlic oil. The calamari wasn't really "tossed" in the garlic oil it seemed like the oil was put in the bottom of the bowl and then the calamari just put on top of it before it was brought out to us... Dan decided to go with the build your own burger option. It seemed very weird to us that EACH topping as an extra charge we had to pay for. Nothing was included... With that being said he asked for the habanero sauce and our server told us it was VERY hot, that people have cried when they have had it. Dan was in HEAVEN!! When it was brought out they actually put the habanero on the side, which was not a big deal I guess a lot of people found it to hot and would send the food back, so I can understand not wanting to waste food! The sauce wasn't to hot, but once you got a good amount in your mouth there was a little bit of heat! I ordered the chicken burrito, and I am VERY disappointed. I was stuck between the chicken burrito and the haddock one and our server suggested the chicken one cause it also had the habanero sauce on it, and she said the haddock was kind of bland. I could not believe I paid as much as I did for that burrito. It was VERY bland, and there was no habanero sauce on it. I also ordered a cherry limeade for a drink and it was lacking in taste as well! I think the only good thing about the night for me was the cup of lobster bisque I had. It was a cream based and very filling! Not sure if we would go back unless there was something that we couldn't love without..

Come here every time we are in Freeport. Excellent ribs and chicken special. Great pulled pork. The burgers are really good too. Lobster roll and soup just ok. Pub Mac n cheese different but good with pulled pork on top. Cannot wait to go back. Great atmosphere and good place for dads to hang out while moms shop!

This place is always packed on Friday and Saturday nights so if you want a table you best get there before 5pm or you may have to wait a bit. This is a second location, with the first one in Auburn, and parking can become limited during high temp hours. They have an outside patio area where you can enjoy your meal, some drinks and some of their freshly brewed house beers. When I went I had a the blackened fish tacos which came with rice, pico de gallo and some sour cream. The lettuce used in the tacos was a bit overpowering and dulled the flavor of the fish. The fish was nicely breaded but I didn't taste the blackened part as it had no spice to it what so ever. The rice was cooked well but the tacos need much more seasoning because even salt and pepper wasn't helping them. I have had other meals at their other location and those were good but this one falls short which is why 3- stars are awarded for this review.

Great casual restaurant. Excellent place to bring kids for dinner. Outside seating is available, and there is a large, open green area with a playground for kids to play. Wings are excellent. I am partial to the black fly stout, my wife enjoyed an early Halloween seasonal brew this time. Hamburger was average, but they have lots of options to make your own. Prices for lobster/lobster rolls seemed reasonable. Lots of choices on the kids menu. Waitstaff was friendly and helpful. Really great way place for a relaxing and enjoyable meal.

Been by Gritty's probably 25 times over the past 2 years, but this was our first time visiting it. Casual atmosphere sort of like a pub in an old, large warehouse. Lots of open space, hardwood floors, rather loud. Quite an interesting menu, with seasonal items, specialty items, etc. of course LOTS of draft beers likely made right on the premises. Good prices, generous portions and tasty food. Can't get any better than this for casual dining pleasure.

  • Kate C.

Pretty typical pub food and atmosphere. We got the Beer Cheese appetizer which was the only food that was worth talking about. It was really yummy. Make sure you eat your appetizer before you order your main meal. We asked them to hold off on putting the entrees in but we still got our meals with the appetizer. I had a Black Fly Stout and the Seasonal Porter. Both tasted pretty delicious, especially with the beer cheese. The winner from this trip was the Bacon Bloody Mary that my mom ordered. It was fantastic! The spice level was perfect AND BACON. Because of this magic drink we will be returning for the Brewer's Brunch on March 15th. Should be fun!

Kid ms parent friendly. Some interesting specials (pastrami salmon sandwich!) Solid pie and small independent brew pub. Middling food. Totally worth it for amazing atmosphere and kind servers.

This was by far the best burger I've ever had!! I recommend the sweet chili sauce because it is delicious and is great on the burger, and it goes great with fries. The wings we ordered are great but it was impossible to eat all those wings after that burger

  • Kimber C.

It's pretty basic as far as bar food goes. I had the lamb burger without bread which was pretty tasty. The bartender was the best part about the place. She was super friendly. There were a couple of bar flies there playing youtube videos loudly which was a bit obnoxious, but other than that it was good. The beer was pretty decent as well.

    (3)
  • Lori S.

Not a bad place to grab a bite. We have been several times and its a great place to take the kids, because it can get a bit loud there. The food is pretty decent and I think we only had to wait once, to be seated, out of all the times we have been. Pretty great for a large party.

  • John D.

I was very surprised by this place it was not what I expected of the staff or the food. I got the steak panini it was amazing as well as the fries that came with it. The staff was right on me my glass was never empty and they were all extremely friendly and personable.

We were in Freeport at LL bean and decided to stop here to get a lobster roll. I really wish I did not come here for the lobster roll. It had very little chunks of lobster, (very little) diced very small on a huge amount of lettuce. It was the worst lobster roll that I ever had. The only way you can mess up a lobster roll is not put any lobster on it and they did a great job at that. We also had some chowder and although the broth was good they had nothing inside of the broth. Just like the lobster roll they do not like to use seafood. The only saving grace of this place was the beer. The beer is very good. If you decide to go here, just go for the beer. No need to get the food.

  • Matt L.

Another great visit to Gritty's! Have to disagree with the other reviewer though. This location blows Portland away and is larger and the service is better and friendlier. No difference in food though, same quality and the mac and cheese with kielbasa is unreal! A must stop if you are in town and finished at the outlets! You cannot beat the homemade brews served up here!

Came to Gritty's for the first time to watch the USA soccer game for the World Cup earlier this year. As expected, the place got super crowded super quickly, so we were lucky to arrive there early. I thought it was a great bar to watch a popular sports game at - if this is your intention, definitely arrive there early because it's a very popular place for people to go. As for the food, I got the seafood chowder, which was very satisfying. My friends got larger dishes like Fish & Chips and the Caesar Salad, both of which were very large in size and looked filling. The servers seemed to understand how to work in a crowded environment, and most of them handled the situation really well - though we did get a pretty sassy response from one of the waitresses. I definitely recommend Gritty's as a bar to go to and hang out with friends, coworkers, etc., but don't expect much more than your typical bar drinks and food.

Great beer and great food. Their Guiness clone is pretty good.

This place does not pretend to be anything more than it is: A good bar that also serves food. Nothing fancy, as evidenced by the picnic tables inside. I ate at the bar, which is surprisingly small. The beer, an ale, was refreshing and tasted good. For dinner, I ordered a lobster roll and soup. The lobster roll was on a white bread hot dog bun (like you get at Friendly's) but the portion was decent. The fries were fairly run-of-the-mill. The soup was the most disappointing part of the meal. It contained a lot of cream and potatoes, but I struggled to find any seafood in it. Prices were very reasonable and everyone there was very chill. (Oh! And free wifi!) I would definitely go back again.

Every time I'm at Gritty's (Portland or Freeport) I always try and branch out, but I end up getting the same thing: steak and cheese with mushrooms. I always know how it's going to taste so there's no surprises and it's usually pretty good. The buffalo tenders here are good, but definitely frozen. The service is okay. Their deck is nice in the summer to sit on and have a drink. Gritty's is a spot to have a beer and a cheap, pub meal for sure! The only time I go to this one is after a long day of shopping at the outlets and by then everyone needs a beer stat.

All I can say is wow, awesome people and awesome food, I sat at the service bar and had lobster bisque snd then 3 huge lobster tacos. Friendly people and amazing service.

Stopped into Gritty's with a group after an afternoon of outlet shopping. I'll preface by saying that I appreciate a good grimy bar. It my mind, it doesn't have to be spotless, it doesn't have to be fancy, but it does have to have a solid beer OR food selection. I don't even need both, one will do. Aside from service, Gritty's missed the mark all around. The menu was bland with a few Irish pub staples like Shepherd's Pie, paired with cookie-cutter bar food lacking any real flare. Buffalo chicken this and BBQ that. I was not in the mood for a plate of frozen food, so I chose a pizza, which our server had raved about. The pesto pizza with red onion and Andouille sausage was just, well, fine. I ate three pieces, but mostly because I was famished after my shopping cardio. Others at the table tossed around their food, but didn't eat too much. I heard comments about the mac n' cheese being cold, the grilled chicken chewy and sauces bland. We all agreed that we should have spent our money elsewhere. As for the beer, if you love an overly bitter brew, you have found your new favorite spot! ... Or if you enjoy creepy restrooms with very low walls and huge gaps around the door, again you are in luck.

Four stars for food and drink. Five stars if you have little children. To play on the swing set, the crooked house, and the big lawn is huge in giving parents some down time while they play. A mainstay every trip we make to Maine .

We were excited to go to Grittys , knowing the beer to be very good. However, we were quite disappointed. The fries were the crinkle cut right out of the bag, the lobster Mac and cheese seemed to be out of the box as well... Very dry and little sauce. Turkey club was dry too. We tried to look for the positive but the beer was about it. Sorry, we were really hoping for a good meal and I regret having to write a poor review.

It's not fancy but who cares. We had to stop at Gritty's after a day at the outlets & our whole family loved this place. Pretty good beers & awesome pub food. My first memory is of their sweet potato fries covered with pulled pork. The fries just melted in my mouth & was washed over with the sweet taste of BBQ. Absolutely awesome. I'd drive 4 hours from RI for those again. I ordered their wings & was quite impressed. They weren't overly meat but did the trick. The sauce for the BBQ & buffalo were very tasty & unique. I also got their dry rub cinnamon chipotle which were amazing. Some of the best flavored wings I've had. The rest of our party ordered nachos which were ok. But their club sandwiches looked awesome. They were HUGE & the bread just looked so tasty. I didn't get a chance to try them because I was busy stuffing my face but wish I had. Maybe a future visit next year? Either way, my nephew & mother raved about how good they were. They also have beer & it's good. I got a 9 beer sampler for $10 so even if it wasn't good I still would've enjoyed it. Their black fly stout was my favorite but the other 8 were all good too.

It was really good. Overall atmosphere really leant itself to sitting Aron's with some family and/or friends having some drinks and eats. Our table had Cajun fish and chips, blackened haddock tacos, stuffed portabella, spicy chicken burrito and the pub style meatloaf. Sides of fries and onion rings. Everyone said their meals were good. Personally I had the meatloaf and it was good and different not your mother in laws cheap recipe that came out of that old News flyer. This one had sausage, pork, beef and toped with a yummy gravy. The side if potato mash cake was also very toasty and slightly different. I never want some out to eat that I make at home and this was it. Of course it didn't hurt to wash it all down with a nice dark stout also. We'll be back...

Sat at the bar in the quiet side last night. It was quiet by the fact that there were just two other customers, not just because there are no TVs. At one point there were nine members of staff at the bar beside me, just chatting away and posting on Facebook. This included the lead server. The highlight came when one of the two who were there off-duty gave the other a massage. There has obviously been a change of staff in the past year, but it isn't for the better. All I'm asking is that you eff-off and find something to do if it's quiet and leave the customers to enjoy their stay.

I have been a mug club member for over 5 years now, and one thing that we realized is that while there is a family atmosphere overall it stops at the restrooms. For fathers there is no changing station or even slightly usable toilet for toddlers or children potty training. If you don't have a female companion with you who is willing to take a child to the women's rest room you will likely be out of luck if you need to change a diaper or take a little one to the bathroom. We won't stop going, but it might not be our first choice on many nights since the facilities for restrooms are so far behind the times.

A good Freeport option if dining with smaller children. Outdoor patio area steps down to what essentially is a very nice size fully fenced backyard. This worked well for us since our party had 2 little ones; one of whom would never sit through a full meal. Overall food was OK - fairly average pub quality food and this was across a wide range of selections for our party of 10. Typical apps - nacho platter, wings, etc., which were fine; nothing spectacular. Mains included the Philly cheese steak (good), the pub steak panini (less than good), mac and cheese (eh), pizza (skip it), burgers (fine) and tacos (ok). Decent craft beer selection and the service was good and certainly very family friendly. It served our purposes well for the one night we dined out in Freeport with smaller kids and while the food was just OK; it's along the lines of what we expected so I wouldn't say we were disappointed. Stick to standard pub fare and you'll be fine. Big John was certainly happy to be able to sit and enjoy a meal while Little John wandered about freely without disturbing other diners. Probably averages to 2.5 stars; 3 for families with young'uns, 2 for everyone else. I'll round up to 3 since we fell into the former category that night.

Gritty's was a brewery with nice beer, nice waiters, fast service, and delicious food. The waitress let me sample a couple beers before I decided on the one I wanted...I tried three and loved them all. I got the lobster roll with clam chowder and fries. It was great! I appreciated the soup and fries were served hot and the lobster roll was fresh and not smothered in mayo. The majority of seating is a picnic tables, so that's something to consider.

I've been here many times in the last decade. I used to love eating here because the food was consistently good bar food and they have great outdoor seating. Recently the food has not been the greatest. We visited on a Thursday for trivia night and overall our experience was positive. The drinks were good, the trivia crowd was a good mix of people looking to have fun, and the service was good. The food was just whatever. I ordered a veggie burger with sweet potato fries. The fries were good. I ate half of the veggie burger because it was just ok. I've eaten pretty much every kind of frozen veggie burger there is but this one wasn't great. I think the bread was kind of dry which didn't help things. And I can do without the bread but the veggie burger wasn't good by itself either. Will I return? Yes. Will I order the veggie burger? Probably not. The trivia was a lot of fun and it's hosted by a local radio station so they played good music which livened things up a bit. I'm a sucker for good music, it gets me every time.

Our food was a good value. All of the seafood was fresh, and I usually am not a seafood guy, but I like to get it while visiting maine. I was not disappointed. Others in our party tried the beers that were brewed on-site and said they were good too. The reason that I wrote this however was to recommend their server, Allison. I used to wait tables, so I know what the job entails. I also know what separates the good servers from the bad ones. Allison was better than any server I had ever seen. If she ever dislikes her job, she did a fantastic job hiding it. She seemed like she was thrilled to take our order, she was interested in what we had to say. She made recommendations based on our questions. She even busted out a little espanol when she noticed one of our family members didn't speak much English to help make her feel more welcome too! She could of just asked what we wanted, and refilled our drinks and gone on with her day. Instead she made our day better, and restored our faith in humanity's future, albeit for one more day. When you are shopping in Freeport at the outlets, stop by here for good food, and ask for Allison! You won't be disappointed by either.

We all enjoyed the food. I had the lamb burger, and I think it may be the best I've ever had. My husband had the lobster roll and lobster bisque. I recommend this place for a casual place with good drinks, a variety of food choices and good service.

I've been here twice recently. Great Bloody Mary, okay nachos, and I'm sorry to say, it's the second time the service has been mediocre at best. I was hoping we just got "the wrong one", because most restaurants "have one", right? Unfortunately, this place has more than its share. There's a toy box for kids, which is sweet. Too bad parents think that makes the restaurant their kids' babysitter. If you don't want to be responsible for your children, please don't bring them with you. It's annoying and dangerous. That's not the restaurant's fault, though, so that didn't weigh into my rating. Looked for waitress for a sofa refill. She had cashed us out, got her tip and left for the night, without checking on us or letting us know she was leaving. That did weigh into this review.

I came in for lunch while in town this week. I'm sure that the vibe is different based on the season and time of day, but at early evening it was pretty dead. I had a lobster roll and chowder, both were ok, but really not that great. I didn't try the beer, shocking for me, but none of it jumped out at me. I just wasn't overly impressed, but happy for the cheap seafood at least.

Nothing goes better with a punt of bitters best then a fresh fried haddock sandwich. Great fresh flavor . Normally not a fan of fish but here Portland I am enjoying all the fresh sea food . And Gritty 's tops my list on fresh fish sandwiches . They have a brew store next to the pub . Sweet.

I was here over the weekend for a wedding party. We had the lawn in the back area as our hang out. They were serving drinks and even had a couple of beers on tap out of a cooler. They were also allowing us to pay with a card while out there. Pretty awesome of them. I was a bit disappointed that they only had a couple of apps available out there and not the full menu. They had a lot of tables set up for us with a tent so I figured they'd allow us to order food. No worries - I went into the bar and got takeout. Mac and cheese for me. I wanted to go with the pulled pork but had just had pulled pork earlier in the day, so I went for grilled chicken. NOTE: the grilled chicken is not big chunks of a real chicken breast. In fact, I saw the pulled pork mac and figured they left the chicken off of the meal and took it back in. The chicken literally looked like chunks of cheese. hah! If you order the mac (which is very good - go for the pulled pork if you are adding meat. Also a side note: Gritty's beers all have this underlying spice taste that I didn't care for. It's like every beer starts out with an ingredient in the nutmeg family. My friends, however, loved it. So much that they decided they were going to have one of each on tap. Yes that is a lot of beer. You'd start to think they'd be too tipsy to be served. Which, they were. The bartender let them down easy. He started serving them half beers. By the time they got to the last one he served it in a large shot glass so they could say they tried all of them. Props to that bartender and his kind service - Letting them down easy. All while the bar had a live acoustic guitarist playing. The atmosphere and staff was great!

Exactly what it advertises: A casual brew pub. I have never been disappointed with the food, I'd day some options are a step above standard pub fare. Family friendly, particularly in nice weather. My kids love the playground and playhouse. I love that I can sit at the deck and watch them from my seat. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Love stopping here on the way up to visit family.

I'm giving this 4 stars more for the atmosphere. Stopped at Gritty's while in the area on business. We were on our way to LL Bean and this is just down the road. The weather was great so we sat outside. It was a bit different as we were seated at a big picnic table with another family. It was a bitt odd but that was also part of the charm. The food was okay but not great. The beer was pretty good as well. I had the Halloween seasonal and thought it was okay but I'm used to the Pumpkin Ale's with the spice and this brew doesn't have the spices. Still it was a good flavor. The service was a bit slow but the server was nice and we weren't in any hurry so we didn't mind. Overall, not a bad place to eat if you are in the area.

Fun place to visit when in Freeport. The space is casual and creates a relaxed feel. Gritty's has ok beer (beer at this location is better than what is bottled) and the food is decent. Would be better food if they increase focus on local and fresh ingredients and higher overall quality. Also, should add a few guest tap lines to offer high quality local beer options. Staff is typically friendly. Worth a visit, just don't expected too much.

Is this the original? Somebody Wiki this mambajamba. A well-known local brewpub, Gritty's offers more than a whimsically irreverent yet family friendly moniker. Their kitchen slings a full spread of fairly creative fare, house-hopped beer and a big ass patio for covered dining al fresco. Inside, the bar holds community tables meaning you'll be making friends whether you want to or not. It's Maine - don't be a punk! Folks are friendlier than old people at the doors of Walmart, so don't hesitate to poke fun at how much ketchup they're using. Seriously. Just laugh at them relentlessly. Scanning the food queue with entrees running from BBQ to Baja Cali, we both froze and instantly agreed on the starter: smoked pork topped sweet potato fries with melted cheese and a maple cream dressing. Push your stacks, playa - I'm all in. The anticipated decadence of these Beverly Hillbilly nachos nudged me gently to a soup/salad combo for my entree, and the shrimp & roasted corn chowder had me at hello. Pair it with a Red Claws Ale, m'good lady! Beer's pretty killer. Not as sweet as many a maltier brew and bit hoppier for welcome bitterness, I could probably drink it with anything. Especially those sweet potato thingees that vanished quicker than they appeared. Maybe the neighbors stole some? I'll show them... Salad was a plain Jane side and the chowder was just so-so, with adequate bay shrimp and a proper seasoning. On the verge of going Disney, McDuff's keeps it, well, gritty enough to appeal to multigen clans and non-spawn bearers alike. Teetering oh so delicately between 3 and 4, every pint falling under $5 gives it a favorable tilt.

In the mood for some good beer? Gritty's has you covered - in several options, I might ad. I myself went for their red ale, which was perfectly tangy and refreshing after a long night. Gritty's is no fancy-schmancy spot - either belly up to the bar or choose one of the picnic tables, which are both inside and out on the deck that overlooks the water. The service is excellent - no-frills, but friendly and efficient as hell. A group of seven of us ended up here after a wedding, and we all had our beers within minutes. When we inquired about food (dinner had long since been over), the waitress appeared with their late-night emergency pizza. When we were still hungry, she brought us more beer and some chips and fresh, house-made salsa. When one of us needed a smoke (I will not name names, nor will I express my approval), she had those, too. A savior of sorts, she was. Gritty's is comfortable, welcoming and pours a fantastic beer. I can't rave about the food, but I would certainly make myself comfortable here anytime in the future.

Overall taste of the food was fantastic! I ordered the fish & chips. It came in a small green basket. 3 very small pieces of haddock, some French fries and coleslaw. For the price, I would've expected at least an 8 oz portion of haddock. Not 3 pieces that resembled chicken fingers.

We've visited Gritty's during our past few trips to Maine and have enjoyed it. Good food, great beer and an inviting atmosphere. We went recently with a large group and were seated pretty quickly on their deck. Frankly, the deck is about the best seating option in the place. The inside seating gets pretty loud. I started with an IPA that was casked and onion rings. I love a cask conditioned ale and this one didn't disappoint. The onion rings were house made in a delicate batter. Excellent! I tried the shrimp tacos; flour tortillas with shredded lettuce, cheddar-jack, pickled onions, avocado dressing and small grilled shrimp, served with rice, sour cream and salsa. Though small, the shrimp were tender and tasty. It was a great meal. My wife tried one of their summer specials, Lobster Mac and Cheese. It had a nice flavor and some large chunks of lobster. A half order was more than enough. Our waitress was friendly, efficient and a bit of a smart ass (I mean that in a good way!) She was a pleasure to interact with. Stop by after your trip to LL Beans and enjoy a good meal and a brew!

Great food, I ordered a half rode of pub mac and cheese with the fried jalapenos and a side order of a demi salad. The mac and cheese was good, perfectly cooked pasta, sauce was only O.K., and the jalapenos were excellent, but I only got a few. Disappointed with the portion size of that. Came with grilled corn bread which is good. Demi salad was good, very fresh with lettuce spinach tomatoes onions and banana peppers. So, the bad: The service was not good at all, I asked for a refill of water and it took 20 minutes and 2 requests to get it. I could see wait staff walk by chatting. This was frustrating. The staff was rude and snappy. Food took longer than usual to arrive here, and it took 3 request to get a fork. I don't know if I'd come here again, awesome food, but not so awesome service.

My family and I stopped in Freeport to shop at the outlets, and I was tasked with finding a place to eat for lunch. Thanks to my co-Yelpers, I chose Gritty McDuff's, and I hope you will too. Gritty's is located just down the street from the outlet stores and touristy restaurants. It has a local pub vibe - very casual and relaxed atmosphere. The staff was super friendly and attentive, and the menu consisted of traditional grub with a unique twist (e.g., lobster mac and cheese with fried jalapenos). My father and I enjoyed our craft beers, and my mother loved her blueberry vodka lemonade so much that she ordered a second one. The food was simple and hearty and very good. We especially enjoyed our appetizer of sweet potato fries and pork with a side of maple sour cream.

If you have young kids, Gritty's is great. The waitstaff is very patient and friendly. We sat near the bar because we didn't have time to wait for an outdoor table which overlooks a large fenced in grassy area where kids can run and play while waiting for dinner. We saw multiple people bring In a football to throw around. Our meals (wings, cheeseburger and lamb gyro) were decent but nothing to write home about, thus the reason for a three star rating.

In the world of over-hopped cups of terd swiggle, this is one brew pub that keeps their beer simple, true to format, and refreshing. The food was a step above pub (note I said pub food not bar food). And, the bartender was inviting, witty, and knew when to chat, when to leave me alone, and when to fill my cup. Overall, this hit the spot after a long day of business travel.

Had a great meal at Grittys last night. Our waiter was awesome! Gave me a taster so I could "try" my beer first! So nice! We had lobster bisque! BIGGEST bowl I've ever seen! Our daughter loved it. Hubby had pulled pork and I had buffalo burger! Very good too. Careful, I ordered the jalapeños on my burger!! Wow...super hot! But, I loved it. Our son had a chicken quesadilla. He liked it as well! All in all, great meal, great waiter! And they have a big field so we had the kids bring a frisbee so they could play while they waited for food to come!!!

My wife and I decided to try this place out after a day in town shopping. We sat outside on the deck on a hot day. Our waitress was great, very friendly and anticipated when we needed more water and drinks without us having to wait. We will be going back next time we make the trip up

Had a late lunch here with the fam today before we went outlet shopping. It was a backwards kinda day I guess. Most people hit all the shops and then drag themesleves into Gritty's. At any rate... As stated in many other reviews, the beer here rules. I was happy to learn that they had the Halloween Ale on tap already (it's now late August) and I greedily lapped down two of those. This brew is a couple tiers lighter than a dark stout and, much to my brother's delight, it does not have a pumpkin taste. Rather, there is a tinge of orange flavor amidst its otherwise robust golden coppery savoriness. Mom and Dad both had the Original Pub Style beer and both enjoyed that as well. For an appetizer, my brother and I split the fried, Ale Battered Mushrooms. These were quite good and the horseradish sauce was the perfect accompaniment. For a meal, I ordered the Healthy Buffalo Burger (that's what it's called). I haven't had buffalo in a long time and I had sort of forgotten what it was. It's lean, not very mean, and it sort of falls to stringy pieces that dissolve as you eat it. But, I guess that's why it's healthy. I don't regret my decision because I'm supposed to be dieting (I try). But I'm pretty sure the regular burgers are much better. Brother had a meat loaf dish with a large pad of mashed potatoes. He liked it. Folks both got a reuben and enjoyed that as well. All in all, everyone's meal was good. But I do think the best reason to come to Gritty's is the beer. Also, we sat out back on the porch and it was a sunny day. Very nice. Stop by the gift shop on your way out and get a tee shirt or buy some beer to go! I was really interested in getting a growler but when I found out they only sell it to you with cold beer, I had to say no thanks. Got a long trip home tomorrow and don't want this delicious beer getting skunked in my car! Would be nice if they could sell it to you at room temperature. I'm surprised they don't actually. One last thing: our waitress was very friendly! No complaints whatsoever about the service!

Who seats a 2-year old and doesn't give them a children's menu? It took several requests for our server to finally remember to bring her a menu (thus delaying our ability to order), and even then she did so without crayons. Thankfully they have a playground out back. Service was very slow. My pulled pork sandwich was dry and the bun was burnt. Veggie medley side was ok. Kids portions good. DH enjoyed his chicken burrito, but it wasn't exceptional. Between the mediocre food and the crummy service, not a place I'd ever return to. Maybe if you're drinking their beer the food and service seem better.

I had heard so much of this place from my boyfriend (a local Freeport guy, born and raised) and was looking forward to seeing what the fuss was about. The beer is certainly tasty - though I am not necessarily a "beer person" so that is kind of lost on me. I did, however, try the Blue Lagoon Mojito which was quite delicious (surprisingly so). There was a nice balance between the mint and lemon flavors with a very light and not-too-sweet blueberry finish. I was told that the Pork BBQ Fries were not to be missed. Big sweet potato fries with melted cheddar, BBQ pulled pork, and maple sour cream. It was a tasty dish and I would definitely order it again. Our waitress could have been slightly more congenial. Daggers shot from her eyes when I dared to say "excuse me" when she was walking past to change my drink order. Sor-ry!

Simone and I headed to the tourist trap known as Freeport, Maine after a recent day spent sunning ourselves at the beach. We decided to eat at Gritty Mcduff's restaurant after our first choice was closed. The menu at Grittys looks great so I have wanted to try it now for a long time. So we arrived a little after 7:30pm and it was pretty empty. The waitress let us know we could sit inside or outside so we choose to enjoy the 98% percent humidity, and flesh eating mosquitos on the deck as the sun was setting. The deck overlooks the backyard that has been set up as a childrens play area. This is a great idea for families, so daddy can drink and still keep an eye on the little terrorists that he brought along on vacation. It took a couple minutes for the waitress to find us but when she did we placed our order for some drinks and appetizers. Grittys brews thier own beer so I choose the vacationland and it basically tasted like Labatts...not bad, but also not very memorable or special. It wasn't to long before our starter of Smoked Pork Fries came out. Smoked pork fries are a decent portion of fresh cut sweet potatoes, topped with cheddar jack cheese and a heap of smoky pulled pork. On the side comes a Maple infused sour cream. I thought the fries, cheese and pork by themselves were very good and found the sour cream to be overpowering so I passed on that. Simone however disagreed and was more then happy to down all the sour cream with her's. Unfortunately the appetizer was as good as it gets for this review. For my entrée I choose the Pub Style Meatloaf. This really should have been the best meatloaf of my life. Ground Andouille Sausage, ground Turkey and ground pork combined to create a flavorful, moist hunk of meat goodness. However that was not the case. When the plate arrived there were to good size hunks of meatloaf that looked rather crispy on the outside even with gravy on them. They were served along side a big scoop of potatoes and cauliflower. The meat was tasteless and was mixed with way to much breadcrumb resulting in a pasty grainy texture. The good news is it was definitely homemade...the bad news is that it was definitely homemade by someone that doesn't like their home. Even the gravy couldn't save this. The Cauliflower was the most enjoyable part for me. It had great garlicky buttery flavor and was roasted just to the point of being cooked but not mushy. Simones meal was not much better. She ordered a Portabella Mushroom Quesadilla and although crispy on the outside was bland and flavorless on the inside. Having lost faith in the food we skipped over Dessert. Grittys is always busy and has multiple locations in the State so perhaps it was just an off night, but based on the average waitstaff service, okay beer and bland food, I probably will not go out of my way for a return visit the next time I am in town. 2 Stars.

First time ever sat in dining room and waited on by bartender with a full bar as I was stuck with the patriots on every tv as if that wasn't bad enough. Lobster great. Soccer while we waited for table fun. Service eh! Hamburger overlooked. Fun atmosphere. Menu needs work. I would of ordered a big steak if they had one. Nachos are ala carte. So be careful by the time they match up to everyone else. Your in the hole $18 for nothing special nachos.

Love all the Gritty's. Solid food, good service, great beers. Parking is decent and you can usually get in without a wait. Some outdoor seating but there can be some bugs. It's a little outside of most of the shops but it is worth a little detour (a mile, maybe?) for something more unique and less touristy than most of Freeport.

On a recent rainy trip to Freeport we stopped in for a beer and a bite. Our party of five was sat in a timely manner and received super service with a smile from our waitress, Bess. I'm gluten-free and was able to get my lamb burger on a gluten-free bun for an additional $1.50. The burger was outstanding, well spiced, juicy, with goat cheese and roasted red pepper. I also ordered sweet potato fries that were good and piping hot, but also for an additional charge. Three of my friends ordered the lobster roll with chowder and one the haddock sandwich. All were very pleased with their meals and enjoyed their beers. I'm always skeptical of places in areas that attract a lot of tourists, but Gritty McDuff's was a diamond in the ruff. We will be back on our next trip to Freeport.

I've been here three times. The first two were 4-star worthy experiences, but yesterdays trip was terrible. I got the "habenero chicken burrito" and it was awful. It may have been the worst burrito I've ever had. The service was also terrible (the waitress screwed up twice). I also got their home-brewed red ale and it was a bit of a disappointment as compared to other red ales from microbreweries in northern New England. I've had their burgers in the past and they were great. Side salads are always good. Bench seating also makes this place outstanding for groups. I'll go back and try something different next time. Prices are reasonable, especially for uppity Freeport.

In terms of beer, Gritty's is in the absolute upper echelon of breweries in the Northeast, ranking right up there with Dogfish Head and Mayflower in terms of overall quality. For a brewpub, it's on par with the mighty Hale's Ales in Seattle. This location shares the trademark long benches with the Old Port location and also features an outdoor deck with a fenced-in yard that looks built for horses but seems to be used mostly for melt-downy kids. The food is good to above average- the nacho plates are great, the veggie burgers are fried and have a cumin taste to them that reminds me of falafel. They have seasonal pub grub specials like a veggie reuben (artichoke hearts and tomato on multi-grain) or a hearty mac and cheese. You can get both bombers and mini-kegs of select beers in the gift shop just outside the main entrance, along with a number of the usual items (hats, shirts, sweatshirts, etc.). MVP: The beer. All of it. The Bitter I had on cask Monday, the Vacationland I had all summer, the Halloween that I can't wait for, the Black Fly Stout, the Brown, the Pub Style... the Scottish. All fantastic representations of their corresponding styles. LVP: That I have to travel to Maine to get it on draught. Oh to be in the mug club... The gold standard. Beer nerd heaven. An oasis in outlet hell.

After visiting the Maine Brewery we needed a place close by to fill out stomachs up with food, and this was the spot! Our buffalo chicken dip hit the spot and my macaroni and cheese was just the right thing for a late lunch/early dinner. The beer selection was decent, we both enjoyed one of their brews, and given it was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in August we had the privilege of taking in the atmosphere on the patio. Overall a great time and I look forward to returning on our next trip up to Maine.
