As I was reading the previous reviews of Bernie's I will tell you that I was completely surprised. My wife and my family have been to this little establishment many times and have never been disappointed by the food here. The restaurant is a good mix of home made breakfast and diner style food to some delicious and light fare during the lunch hours. Yesterday, the wife and I dove into a delicious BLT that was both large, fresh and had a layer of fresh green and delicious avacado to top off the BLT. The fries that we got with our sandwiches were hand cut and delicious. The bacon was hearty and the tomatoes were beefy. Now, I know we could have been more adventurous but we were feeling a bit healthier than my mormal rueben sandwich or the eggs benedict that we have had at breakfast time inthe past. The only reason for there not being 5 full orange and white stars was the simple fact that the service could be a little friendlier and inviting but I think that the concept is one that is of a diner feel and they are there to take the orders quick, deliver the delicious food quick and get the next customers into the seats right behind. The bathrooms are always very clean and the restaurant is extrmely tidy and immaculate and you can smell the delicious bagels that they are slinging next door. If you are looking for a quick brunch bite while roaming around the Falmouth area, then stop in here and try this little place, I dont think you will be disappointed.

My two star rating is ONLY for the mister bagel side of Bernie's; I have not eaten at the restaurant side enough to give an informed review of that side of the establishment. The Mister Bagel side of Bernie's Foreside has great food. I've never been disappointed with the bagels and breakfast sandwiches I've ordered from them. Unfortunately, nothing else is good. First, their customer service is lacking. I admit, I am a strange eater and order sandwiches that are not on the board (toasted bagel with butter, egg whites, spinach and tomato) but I don't think glaring at me when I'm ordering is appropriate. I always get unpleasant vibes when I'm interacting with their staff. It's not fun. Second, their food always seems to run out. I've left so many times without my sandwich because they are out of bagels or veggies. I've also seen handwritten signs on the door that said they closed early because they ran out of bagels- one time it was before 1pm, a few other times it was before noon. One time it was before 11am!!! It seemed like no matter how early I woke up I could never make it (I work nights and can't really get up and drive to Falmouth before 10am). This is quite frustrating to me since their hours say they are open until 2. Either change your hours or make enough bagels to last until your posted closing time. Lastly, the parking is terrible. If you find a spot in the front of the store you often have to maneuver around other drivers that aren't paying attention. There have even been times when the front and side parking spots are all taken and I've decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Overall, this place makes my favorite personalized breakfast sandwich, but the experience makes me go elsewhere. I stopped going here for bagels in the fall of 2014 and don't plan to return. Too much of a hassle and lots of wasted time.

We were having our car serviced over at Morong and decided to grab a quick bite to eat in the area. Bernie's is a small restaurant with a Mister Bagel attached to it, we were going to grab a couple of reubens to-go but the lady at the counter told us that they shut off their frialator... it was like 2pm. We decided to opt for bagel breakfast sandwiches instead on the Mister Bagel side, because who wants to pay the same amount of money for a sandwich with no side? I ordered the egg & cheese with spinach and tomato, the girl at the counter took our order and then explained that the kitchen told her that I could not order spinach and tomato because it was all put away. I ended up leaving with just an egg & cheese breakfast sandwich and a bad taste in my mouth, I will never go back there again. Also, their lox breakfast sandwich is $8.99, who on earth wants to spend that kind of money on a bagel with some salmon cream cheese??

Bernie's is a go to for us. With a husband who doesn't stray far from the classics, and a father who is the same, we like traditional meals for breakfast and brunch when looking for a group spot. It can be very busy in there, which can make a wait for a seat long, but the staff is friendly and attentive. They are consistent, and we very rarely have a poor meal there. After many places who couldn't thoroughly cook an egg for a benedict, it was great to find a place that could. They don't always have over easy down, but generally they are well priced, and have good food.

The star rating is for the mister bagel side. This place should be renamed Mister no bagel. They honestly never have bagels, I'll go in there at as early as 9 sometimes and they are out of bagels. Who's call is it to make so few? Do you guys seriously not have any idea of your daily customer average of how many bagels you'll need ?

We like Bernie's for its location and good diner fare. We typically go for breakfast and get at least two orders of their corned beef hash. Service is generally good, and has good size portions.

I work in the area and I have checked out almost all of the local places. I had eaten here many times when it was Mr. Bagel, but had not been there since. It caught my attention because they offered burritos and I love burritos. I have been searching for a really good one in the Portland area for a while. (Tu Casa is the closest I have come.) I ordered the Pork burrito on a wheat wrap. It was a pretty big burrito. It was stuffed full of a lot of delicious ingredients and was pretty decent. However the reason for the low rating is the hot sauce. I like some spice with my burrito. When I asked for some they gave me Franks Red Hot! I was shocked. I have nothing against Franks. I use it all the time to make Buffalo wings. But it is a Buffalo sauce! Buffalo sauce does not go on burritos. I would have given this place a better rating if they gave me almost any other hot sauce. If you go here bring your own tapatio. I will not go back until I am assured that they carry a decent hot sauce for their burritos.

How disappointing! This place never seems to have their act together. We've gone in three times - perhaps we keep returning because it's easy to get in and out of (unlike diners in Portland) and inexpensive. Every time, though, I'm reminded why I hate the place. I'm a vegetarian, but never ask that my food is cooked separately, without chicken broth, etc...when I go out to eat, I just deal. But, I don't order meat - obviously. Every time we've gone there, there's meat in my food. Twice it was all through my home fries, and I figured that maybe that's their thing. The second time, though, it was also in my eggs...but I just picked around it. This last time, I got my omelet and it was literally stuffed with meat. I sent it back, the waitress apologized, and came back with a new one pretty fast. Of course, this time, they forgot the cheese - making it a boring, dry, omelet...but, my husband was already well into his food and I didn't want to fuss. Even after that fiasco, I still was picking bits of meat out of my food. They also got my husbands order wrong, brought us the wrong check, and didn't refill our coffees. The service is unprofessional and never welcoming. They could have a really good thing going for themselves if they just got it together...but, I don't think that's in the cards, and we won't be back to try!

This place is ok. The decor is pretty and fun and the wait staff are friendly enough. The food is pretty good. It is the kind of local place you can go to when you just want regular food and you don't make a big thing of going out. A nice spot to meet for lunch. It's a nice alternative to chain restaurants. The food is diner fare but its made there which refreshing.

I go here with my husband and daughter (sometimes even just my daughter) for breakfast almost every week. We love it! For what is is- diner style breakfast food- it's delicious. We always have great service, and have never had any problems with our meals. We usually get the standard eggs, bacon, home fries, toast and pancakes. They have these giant english muffins that are soft and perfect for scooping up eggs with! As much as I am a diehard Caiola's and Bintliff's brunch fan, I also have a soft spot for little breakfast joints. I've never had lunch or dinner at Bernie's so I can't speak for those menus.

The food here isn't awful. It isn't very good, but it isn't very bad either. Everything tends to be a little bit too greasy, but it tastes like food. So that's good. I've never actually received the food I have ordered. The first time I came in I ordered one of their burgers, and got a sandwich instead. The second time I ordered a burger and got a different burger. And the last time I ordered a burrito without sour cream, and my girlfriend ordered a burger medium rare, without tomato - my burrito came with sour cream and my girlfriends burger was well done and had two tomatoes on it (another customer had ordered an omelet that came out wrong as well)... So the food isn't horrible, but the service is atrocious. The only time that I have ever got in and out in under an hour is when I have said I was in a hurry and asked for the check when the food came. Expect to wait. A long time. I've given them more than enough chances, I won't be going back.

I'm a sucker for BLT's my all time favorite sandwich. Today I had a Chicken BLT, it's now my new favorite, it's absolutely the best BLT (with or without the chicken) I've had in a 25 mile radius. Nice big slices of "real" chicken not the deli kind and fantastic bread just like homemade, a little extra mayo on the side and I'm set for lunch and dinner. It's an enormous sandwich!

Went here this morning for breakfast before we hit the road back to MA. Cute little place hidden in Falmouth. Took forever to get menus and forever to place our order. They kept saying they were so slammed because of Fathers day but the staff seemed to be on slow time or something. Food was good and staff were friendly when we could get their attention. I got the meat lovers omlette. Loaded with meat and came with home fries and toast (I got grilled English which I love!)Hubby got the western omlette which he said was decent and he loved the home fries! He never eats them and he cleaned his plate. I had asked for water and never got it (as did the gentleman at the table across from us). THe coffee was decent. not the best but not the worst I have had!

Great place to fuel up for the long drive home. Portions are substantial, and the menu items are adequately described. First cup of coffee wasn't very hot, but the free refills were steaming. Highly recommended!

This has to be undoubtedly the biggest joke of a restaurant that I have ever encountered. From the time we entered this place, until the time we left, it was a dining nightmare. Frankly, we should have left when we were met at the door by a surly waitress who rudely told us they were not serving people at their outside tables, when I had pointed at an open inside table that happened to be in the direction of their outdoor area (she just assumed this, even though I never even said a word to her). Red flag number 2 should have been our waitress, who took FOREVER to get to our table, apologizing that they were "running a bit behind" on the orders. We got our coffees and waters ... and then nothing. 15--20 minutes later, the waitress finally returned to take our orders. Our coffee cups were left unfilled. Fully 40 minutes later, we got our order of pancakes, bacon, a fruit cup, and toast. The fruit cup was an over priced largely cut up apple. I specifically requested my toast be unbuttered (repeated it twice) and it came out buttered ... and which I didn't eat. People who were seated quite a bit of time after us received their orders before ours. I could tell that there were a lot of customers who were seriously irritated by the service. This place is obviously understaffed by incompetent wait staff and cooks. Incidentally, we kept hearing the waitresses telling other customers they had run out of this or that, and apologizing for various errors. Before this whole ordeal was over, we had spent over 1-1/2 hours getting breakfast! I wouldn't return to this place if they gave their food away!

I'm shocked by the other reviews of this place. I'd been out of the state for a while, and when I came back, my friends were all a-buzz about Bernie's. I went twice in one week, and I had a great experience both times. Delicious, homemade corned beef. Plump, locally sourced sausage links. Raspberry pie a la mode... so good I almost ordered a second slice. Had the same waitress both times. She was that classic diner waitress. You know the type: seems overworked but has a heart of gold. The decor inside is unique and fascinating I was tempted to steal half of the artwork on the walls. Really cool old pictures of Portland and neat charts and coastal maps of my lovely state. Point is, I was very pleased with Bernie's. A welcome addition to the smattering of Cumberland county breakfast spots north of Portland.

I had seen the sign a few times and decided to go in. It is seat yourself which is simple enough, but my boyfriend and I waited there for 5 minutes because none of the staff pointed out that there were empty tables in the back just out of eyesight. Once we got our menus, we tried to order. They were out of everything we wanted. They didn't even have chicken fingers. I ended up with an incredibly unsatisfying and bland breakfast burrito. We left feeling like we paid too much for very mediocre food. On the bright side, all of the potato products were delicious.

Bernie's is a pretty average place, but the location is convenient. I recommend going for breakfast, which is pretty good, but not for lunch, which is below average. Overall this place is just average, but we keep going back because of the convenience and fact that there aren't any other breakfast places nearby.

(july 20, 2015) we had a terrible breakfast experience at this place. our waitress was monosyllabic and very unfriendly/unhelpful. what's worse, she incorrectly rung up my 3-item omelete, overcharging me by a few dollars. she had to ask another waitress to help her fix the problem, and when she brought the only partially corrected bill back to me, she didn't even apologize. re the food: unremarkable. the overpriced ($4.99) small fruit bowl contained some obviously unripe fruit (cantelope and honeydew). i can't believe we spent just under $30 (pre-tip) on breakfast there (2 omelettes, 1 coffee, 1 fruit bowl). next time we're in the area, we will drive a few miles into portland, where the quality and variety of breakfast choices are far superior to bernie's foreside. why anyone would even think of eating here is beyond us, unless of course they like mediocre breakfast food and high prices.
