Delicious food, nicely decorated, plenty of parking, great Bloody Mary! Clearly, the owner is a kind-hearted man. Gotta love anyone who names their restaurant after their dog. I'm looking forward to going back the next time I'm in Maine.

Small Quaint- American Food Selection. $$$ for a back yard grill atmosphere. Will give it another try-people are friendly and local. That neighborhood stomp with over priced, over sloshed plates.

Our little family loves this restaurant. We have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and have NEVER left disappointed. The staff is so nice, and the food is awesome. It's definitely worth driving a little out of your way to get here. Highly recommend: the chili-cheese fries, steak and cheese sandwich, the lobster mac n cheese, and anything they serve for breakfast!

Starting out warmly on this dismal very snowy day, I pulled up with my elderly friend and the owner came out and walked with her up the ramp as I parked the car. Kind and thoughtful was the start. When we all arrived for the late lunch, we found the menu had plenty of delicious options. Dorothy and I chose the Bacon, Bacon BLT...Tina chose the Louie Burger. We were all absolutely thrilled! Atmosphere (by the fireplace), food, thoughtful staff...all good! We're all planned for next month, as we go out to late lunch monthly, to enjoy fish and chips at Louie's Grill. The chef gave us the overview of how he makes the fish and chips...mouth watering.

My wife said, "Let's go to that new-ish restaurant in Cumberland because [the ubiquitous] they say it's good." I replied, "Cumberland has restaurants?" Who knew? So we went there for dinner and overall it was a wonderful experience. I'd really like to give it 4.5 stars because I just can't give it a 5 when it's serving "regular food", though they do it very well. The place was very clean, the service was quick, all of the food tasted very good and the waitress was stunningly attractive (yes, that's totally irrelevant however my wife agreed so I thought I'd add a gratuitous and useless comment). We usually go out for ethnic food, however, we felt like having a good solid meal and then ice cream afterward. I had the Greek salad and chili cheese fries (it was actually the first time I had them) and they both tasted very good. My wife has the pasta w/mussels and she was very impressed. She said, "I would've offered you a taste of mine, but I ate it all, so phthttttt." All in all a very pleasant experience and I will definitely be back with friends and/or family. And likely go to Toots for ice cream afterward again too!

Ordered the steak and cheese and it was loaded with sautéed onions and mushrooms and delicious shaved steak. It was and probably will forever be my favorite place getting a steak and cheese! Can't wait to try more of there menu! Looks to die for!

I've always gotten amazing food there, but last time I went in for pick up, I walked in on a server/owner fight. It was extremely awkward and it didn't stop even after I walked in the door!

Louie's is fantastic. Great service. Great atmosphere. Great food. This restaurant is real, it's authentic. When the owner knows everyone that enters by name, you know you're in for a nice evening. Come for the food, come for the service, come for the family. That's how you're treated here.

What a great place! I live in Arizona and travel to Maine once a month to visit family. My trip would not be complete without a trip to Louie's . It is so great to have such a good place to have a great meal and share some time with a wonderful owner and staff. I think I have had almost everything on the menu and loved it all. The Haddock is great, either the sandwich or the dinner . Don't miss an opportunity to enjoy a true Maine expierence .

Had the Louie burger tonight. My first time eating at Louie's... called in a to-go order for the hubby and myself. My burger wasn't well-done, as requested, but luckily I'm not super picky. The burger was good, and the price was right. Will definitely eat there again, though mostly because of convenience and good service. The food isn't wasn't what I would call spectacular.

When I saw that a sit-down restaurant had finally opened up within 10 miles of my parents' house, I knew I had to go and try it out. The first time I went there, it was their third night open, and it was so packed that there was a line waiting at the threshold. Thankfully, I was flying solo that night, so I was able to have the last empty seat in the house: a place at the bar. As an English major and a writing tutor, I immediately noticied the spelling mistakes in the menu and voiced them to my neighbors, who also happened to be sitting at the bar with me. The bartender rudely snapped, "It's our third night open, alright? Give it a rest." Excuuuuuuuuse me for trying to save spelling and grammar's faltering life in our text-ridden world. Lose the tude, lady, because that is the first thing you learn when you are in the service of food. The biggest damper on eating out is a bad attitude from a staff member. Lose it or lose your tip. Anyway. I enjoyed a bowl of Louie's Wedge Salad, a very cold, very fresh chunk of iceberg lettuce with blue cheese dressing and bacon. I was disappointed that they did not have cranberries and walnuts or just straight-up blue cheese chunks (I hate dressing) for a simple house salad. The salad, probably meant as an appetizer or small snack, was a very nice $5. I finished my plate and left the restaurant, which was still packed and had people waiting to be seated and ready to eat, a very healthy indicator for a blossoming restaurant. The next time I ventured into Louie's was just a few nights later, when I spent 9 hours at school tutoring and learning myself. I had not eaten or had anything to drink all day and was starving. I arrived promptly at opening, 4:45 pm, and was the first person of the evening. I ordered the honeybutter (salivating just thinking about that name) haddock fillet with a side of fries and coleslaw. I ordered it to go so that I could relax comfortably at home and kick back in my recliner after a long day of school. Oh my word. Those were the best French fries I've had in years. They were crisp, fresh, and hot, all the things that fries ought to be. The coleslaw was also good, cold and refreshing to complement the fries. And the haddock... oh. my. word. I cannot rave enough about the honeybutter sauce. By far, the best sauce I've ever had on a fish. I was so taken by this meal that I ordered it again a few days later. Most of the staff knows me because I frequent them so much during their developmental stage in starting a new restaurant in a small town. I also treated myself to cheesecake for dessert. The sweet crumbled graham cracker crust was the crowning jewel in the meal that I still long for. I can't give Louie's 5 stars just yet because as good as the food was, it could have been better. For what you paid - $14 - you received a meager portion that wasn't big enough to fully satisfy me. The cheesecake was also overpriced, I thought, at $7 apiece. A cheesecake of that size and quality would have sold for less than $4 at the bakery I work for. The lack of variety for salads was also disappointing. Louie's has a lot of potential, but needs to fix several things first, including a few spelling errors on their menu and increase the portions on their menu, or decrease the prices. And there is a significant need for artwork and decoration inside of the beautiful - but bare - restaurant. Behind the name: The owner named it after his recently deceased and still beloved golden retriever Louie. Hard not to love the place just for that: A man's undying love for his departed dog.

This is a great place to go for breakfast. Food was fresh and delicious and servings were more than enough. Definitely will eat there again!
