Old Iron Inn the

Where do I begin?! Amazing place. 5 stars is simply not enough. Stay here; it will be the nicest place you ever stayed. (That's my short version.) While I was in Maine, I wanted to travel to the northern portion along the Canadian border. Hotels are few and far between where I was looking to go, so I found this Inn on TA (all excellent reviews). The price was AMAZING (only $85.23 for Oct. 11, 2013), so I made my reservation. When I arrived, I was in love. It is a beautiful, 100-year-old home that is filled with so much charm and warmth. It had these gorgeous hardwood floors and was decorated with cool antiques like old phonographs and, of course, old irons. You look around at all these beautiful things as if you were in a museum. The house is very welcoming - like your own home would be, only better! The Innkeepers, Kate and Kevin, are exactly what you would expect of people who live in Maine; they were nice, and friendly, and beautiful, and were very interesting to talk to. When I was led upstairs to my room, I could not believe my eyes (right away, I realized I had made a mistake in only staying for one night). I wanted to live there forever. My room had a big, queen bed, and there was a twin bed on the other side of the room. There was a private bathroom (all the rooms have private bathrooms for spoiled Americans such as myself). The bathroom was very spacious with wonderful, fluffy towels and a nice shower (no tub, just shower). The room was beautifully decorated with more antiques. I loved everything from the furniture, to the glass doorknobs to the windows! When I crawled into that bed at night, I could have sworn that those delicious sheets had been ironed; I have never experienced such comfortable bedding! My room and bathroom were immaculately clean, as was the rest of the Inn. On the second floor (where all the rooms were) there was a little sitting area with a frig and books and other things you might find yourself needing. It's a nice little area to just go in and curl up with a book. The next morning I woke up to the aroma of the most amazing breakfast. There were other guests there too, and everybody sat at a big table and talked and enjoyed this marvelous breakfast that had been prepared for us by Kate. She uses real china, and real coffee cups! There were muffins, any kind of cereal, wonderful scrambled eggs, toast with jam, coffee, a big variety of teas, etc. - you definitely do not come away hungry. It was such a lovely experience. I live in a very fast-paced city where it is hard to find nice people There's too much traffic, too many people, too much trash, too much of everything. When I visit a town like Caribou and meet people from other walks of life, I am enchanted. Visiting this wonderful town, and staying in this Inn makes me want to move to Caribou and live like they do; it made me see life from a different perspective. Unfortunately, my time was up and I had to leave. If I ever find myself in the northern-most area of Maine again, I will most definitely stay here again; but, next time, I will stay much longer - if they will have me. I loved the innkeepers and their beautiful, warm home. Can you tell I loved it?! p.s. There is good free wi-fi and plenty of free parking. No TVs in the rooms, but you won't want one.

Great little burger joint. Had the cheeseburger and fries! Fresh cut fries were delicious!! Would definitely return if I'm in the area again. The manager answered so many questions about the food and was happy to do so!
My husband read that Burger Boy was recently voted best cheeseburger & fries in the entire state of Maine. Well after reading that we decided to give it a try. I am so happy we did. The food was delicious, the service was great & we loved the decor. It is worth the drive to Caribou & we will definitely be back.
i grew up in Caribou and when i come to visit, Burger Boy is a must for me. Went there twice to eat and i enjoyed every bite of my clams and my fish filet. Awesome. At other times, i went there for ice cream, many flavors both soft and hard. Easy parking, freindly service and hard working owner for sure.

The sports inn has the best pizza in Caribou by far. The crust is a beer flavored crust. The pizza is not over sauced, nor does it have too much cheese. When I order it I tend to ask them to cook it longer so the crust is crisp. The cons would be that they sell a medium pizza as a large, they consider a 12-14 inch pizza a large. Yet for a three topping pizza expect to pay around $15 overall expect a 30-35 min wait.

Food was mediocre at best. We had breakfast for two and for twenty five dollars it was rather underwhelming. Biscuits and gravy was one biscuit with gravy for $3.65, 4 slices of bacon $3.65, and add to that two eggs toast and coffee for $2.80, and orange juice for another $2. About $13 for breakfast is just a little pricey for the quality of food we received. Much better off going to Fredericks downtown restaurant on Main Street for the money spent
One of the finest pizza restaurant's in the area. The business is family owned and they really care about their customers.
First I have to say that the service was outstanding. The waitress and other staff were very sweet and welcoming. So six stars for service. However, I was very disappointed with their spaghetti. The noodles were either old, overcooked, or of poor quality. The sauce tasted like it came out of a can. I'm not high maintenance in terms of spaghetti sauce. I actually prefer prego, but I was not impressed at all with their sauce. Also, the mushrooms tasted really old. I think it was the first time that I ate mushrooms from a can. The garlic bread was good though. The pizza seemed popular, but I didn't try it so I can't comment about that.

The ketchup dispenser exploded all over me. I had on a very expensive shirt and was on my way for a job interview. So I when I approached the counter with ketchup dripping all over me, I was ignored. When I spoke up, a lady, still half ignoring me, kinda threw some ketchup packets at me. Yeah that my problem, I needed ketchup... Are you kidding? Someone else have me a towel to clean myself off, and at the time I was thankful that someone was helpful, but when I got to my interview I noticed that my shirt was completely bleached! They'd handed me a bleached towel! Needless to say, I didn't get the job. And this McDonald's has done NOTHING to apologize. I understand that it's really not their problem that I didn't get the job, but when your ketchup dispenser explodes all over you, a simple sorry is all I really want. But I didn't even get that. Burger King it is!
I don't really eat fast food too much, but my grandpa really loves McDonald's fries. He only really has a taste for salt. Anyways, this joint is clean and the service is fast. Prices range from 5 to 8 dollars for their meals. It's really as good as a McDonald's can get. As I mentioned in a tip, there's a touch screen game you can play on a you eat your food. Oh yeah, you'll notice a crowd of atleasy 10over 60 that spend there afternoons there socializing. It's a rearly cute community that this place supports.
