Had a perfect dinner at the Black Horse Tavern tonight. Shannon waited on us, suggested Shipyard Pumpkin Ale (yum!). I found the gumbo too hot for this meat-and-potatoes girl. Shannon had it taken off the bill, which I found a very professional response to the situation. Food great. Company fun. I wish more restaurants were like the Black Horse Tavern.
Well soon McDonalds will take the crown of best food in Bridgton but i guess Black Horse has it right now. I keep it simple here get the cheese burger. It was probably frozen but you can screw up a cheese burger. The sweet potato fries are decent. My wife likes to challenge them and that usually ends up costing me my fries. Overall just not that great and decently expensive to boot. For the area i should maybe bump them up a star but i really don't like the atmosphere either.
I had diner on a Friday night around 6:30pm. I must have just caught a bad night because Ive eaten here before and have had a good meals. This meal was their Angus Beef Meatloaf. It took forever to arrive and only one other party of 6 was in the front dinning room with us. The meatloaf arrived cool on outside, and luke warm in the middle. It was also soggy. Im thinking it sat for awhile as our waitress was a ghost all night. I was absolutely starving and just bit the bullet and ate what I could of it. It took over 20 minuets to get our bill after she acknowledge we were done dinning and never asked if we would like a dessert. I wanted something to take home for later, but quietly lost patience. My date had their Sirloin tips, but they forgot to put the sauce on the meat, which I know comes on it, as I had it the last time I ate there. The waitress took care of that right away. I know there's a reason their always busy, I just got a bad night. Every business has them.

Friendly staff, good food, nice environment. My family enjoyed our visit and will be back
The Victor's coffee was delicious! The food was okay (the grits were excessively salty), but bless our server's heart, she was sweeter than she was efficient. It was kind of funny to hear her apologize to tables all around us for forgetting one thing or another. It made her mistakes with our order easier to take, honestly. Monica seemed well-intentioned but distracted or just not a detail-kind of gal. We decided that the coffee wasn't a good enough reason to return. (Walmart sells Victor's coffee.)
Best breakfast, I try to stop here whenever I'm in Bridgton.. the other food is good too but I mostly get the choclate chip pancakes. I highly recommend Rickys if you are in the area, I'm looking forward to stopping by next time I'm in town!

I stayed here as part of a wedding - the groom's mother bought out the entire inn for the bridal party. I can say without reservation, if you are thinking of having a wedding here, don't. I don't know if the innkeeper just decided that she hated us before we arrived or what, but staying here was kind of like staying with your aunt (assuming your aunt is a retired schoolmarm who decided in 1978 that your father was a loser and still sort of holds it against you that you were ever born). The rooms were cutesy but nice, and the bottomless cookie jar was pretty good, but that was about it. She had a lot of rules and spoke to us in a very brusk and condescending way. She seemed like someone born without the customer service gene. As we were a small group of friends and family here to celebrate, we tried to make light of the situation - and that really only made things worse. It all came to a head on the last night when, some time between when we all went to bed and woke up in the morning, someone mysteriously took a small hatchet or very large knife to one of the sofas. Since Norman Bates'ing the furniture seems like not the best way to way to repay the groom's mother for her generosity in putting us all up, I can only surmise this mauling was done by a deft wild bear with crack lock-picking skills, a very hostile ghost, or perhaps someone who stood to collect a large sum of revenge money (500 freakin' dollars) for the damage!
Our favorite place to stay in the Naples/Bridgton area. Great hostess and lovely accommodations. We come back every year.
Very clean, comfortable inn in a beautiful part of Maine! Breakfast was wonderful. Aside from the above pros (why 2 stars), I had quite a negative experience.... Unfortunately, no hot water in our bathroom when we arrived on an early Sat afternoon. Apparently just a certain section of the inn did not have hot water. We had an important, somewhat formal event to attend to later in the day & into the evening & needed to shower, get dressed up etc. But, things like this happen in life & understood, no problem. Cindy, the owner, was very apologetic & there was already a repair man there to fix it. We arrived back late at night to sleep & next morning, couldn't wait to take a shower without it being ice cold this time. No such luck. No hot water! Got dressed & went to Cindy to ask her what's going on with no hot water again. She said repair man could not fix it & would continue to work on it Mon. We were checking out Sun anyways. Apologizing again, offering to take 20% off the rate, NEXT time we stay. We checked out & I was left with three things really bothering me: 1.) she didn't offer or say she tried to accommodate us with using a shower in another part of the inn where there was hot water available, especially knowing we had clearly requested an earlier check in to have time to get ready for the event we needed to be on time for. It was still 1 1/2 before the standard check in time. I'm sure she could have let us use just a shower in another room & would have had enough time to clean it before the check in time 2.) upon returning to the inn late that night to go to bed, there was no communication, out of courtesy, informing us that there was still no hot water 3.) the 20% should have been taken off the bill at THAT time-not the NEXT time! The basic reasons one stays at an inn, hotel, motel etc., 1st & foremost, is to have a clean bed & access to warm water. We had a clean bed & cold water. To acknowledge the discount offer for a future stay should have nothing to do with the current reason that we were inconvenienced! The 20% off for the next time we stay, is a shrewd way to run a business-especially at an inn with the fine reputation it has. If we received the 20% off at check out, I would have definitely wanted to stay there again, but now, I will not even consider it.

Reviews:
My family, friends and I have been to Campfire dozens of times and it's consistently been a 5-star experience. They put a lot of effort into their menu and food prep (and frequently updated craft beer selection!), which is truly surprising for an otherwise unassuming roadside restaurant attached to a motel. You can know everything about Campfire Grille from this fact: it's always packed! You'll still get a table, but it's a busy place. All the locals go there after skiing, or many others snowmobile there as a destination. And even on week nights in summer, it's always busy. This is one time when it's definitely worth following the crowd. Go once, and you'll be a regular after that! Oh, and try the Apple Cheddar Turkey Panini while you're there!
Reasonable prices for pretty large portions. Very nice waitress and nice to sit outside on the deck with a view of the lake and backyard! A little dark inside though.
$8 for kids grilled cheese and no drinks included is pretty outrageous. Food overpriced and overrated. Took forever to get simple meals

Holy timewarp! This place is a step back in culinary time. As well as decor time. First impressions is that it is in a quaint old New England Inn. Then you walk in and you see a restaurant in a quaint Old New England Inn... that hasn't been redecorated since about 1950. Don't get me wrong - it is clean and well-kept up, but if you like floral patterns, then this is your place. Old-fashioned pastel patterns on the tablecloths, wallpaper, electrical covers, and more. When you sit down, you'll find a crudite of celery, scallions (!?!?), radishes and olives. It is an indication of the culinary point of view here: classic preparations of classic continental European and New England dishes like shrimp scampi, veal parmesean, baked stuffed scrod with crabmeat stuffing, and a variety of chicken sautes. Options for sides include rice pilaf, baked potato and potatoes Lyonnaise. Cheese, butter and sauces. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but don't expect infused foams or fusion cuisine here. While this isn't going to be mistaken for a culinary cutting edge powerhouse, the food is fresh and well-prepared. There isn't anything here to cheer loudly about, but definitely nothing to complain about either. It is actually an interesting opportunity to experience good old fashioned continental cuisine prepared in a classic manner.
Tom's is an excellent place to spend time enjoying a leisurely dining experience. The food is always excellent. The service can't be beat.
Over a leisurely two hours four of us enjoyed cocktails followed by an appetizer of fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with ricotta accompanied by an herb sauce. Salads were basic but the dressing was homemade. They are famous for their poppyseed dressing and sell it separately. Two of us had delicious seafood jambalaya on rice with crawfish and andouille along with shrimp, chicken & scallops in a fabulous sauce. We took doggy bags home and the jambalaya was even better the next day. The veal scaloppine was tender and scrumptious. Having tasted all my companion's meals, I have to say that the scallops homestead I ordered were definitely the highlight of the entrees. Pan seared with the most delicious maple cream sauce - they melted in my mouth. The dessert was house made and yummy Please understand that if you go here, don't expect to be in and out. As other reviewers have noted it is run alone by a husband and wife who are committed to high standards & food made from scratch and to order. They strongly recommend reservations as this helps them plan and serve. Also, they are occasionally closed for private functions on nights you might expect them to be open. In order to have only fresh options they are sometimes out of menu items. I personally find it amazing that two people can pull this off six nights a week and maintain the quality they do. Although it was my first time to Toms, my dining companions had been there at least a half dozen times and said they have never been disappointed

As far as Greek style pizza goes they have a great crust. Very crunchy! The menu is very large so it's hard to choose. Good specialty pizzas with clever names. The bar is very cute and modern, a great selection of beer. The main dining room could be remodeled to match the bar. Topping selection is decent, could be fresher. If Greek style pizza is your thing. Definitely try this place.
Great pizza with reasonable prices and a full bar! Great to watch the Red Sox or just a place to pick up a pizza for the family at home... A very friendly place!
The pizza was good, but the delivery service was extremely slow as it took 1 hr and 15 mins.

We have visited Mack's Place several times since their opening. The seafood is wonderful with a variety of choices for breading (even a gluten-free option). The clam fritters on the appetizer menu took me back to childhood on the Cape. The steamers were awesome and not sandy at all! My husband loves the Fire Cracker Burger. The fries are crunchy and not soggy...I loved that! The business is family owned and operated and the staff is really friendly. Its an open concept dining room so very family friendly but don't expect privacy or intimate dining. I disagree with the 2-star below as I HATE ketchup on the table because its unsanitary and a million people touch it and it should be refrigerated. And unless I'm in a fish market, I don't want to see the lobster tank. They smell and its not appetizing in a dinner setting so thanks for having it in the back! There are tons of different options for everything they make, whether is spicy sauces, different rolls/bread for burgers and sandwiches and the desserts are fantastic! We expected a traditional pizza and sub shop and got a whole lot more...thankfully, so very different from what was there before. Keep up the good work and thanks for feeding the masses!
I went there a couple times, once I had a good meal (I think it was a burger) but my daughter had the fried clams and they tasted like they had double cooked them, they were tough and not a good meal. I did get her to try out the calamari which was pretty good. The second time was a large group of us, about 6 adults and a 3 year old, the food was OK, they didn't kick us out when the 3 year old was overtired and cranky. Overall, it's an OK place, maybe I'll try the seafood again next time.
This place is phenomenal!! They have AMAZING lobster rolls for a great price. $12 in the off season and it comes on an amazing brioche bun. Great bang for you buck and the people who work here remembered us after just our first visit and are extremely friendly and accommodating. If you're near or in Bridgton or even just passing by, don't pass this place up!

Closed. Does not exist. Pl e please remove! !!! Is now Marks Place. It is confusing because when you call there they do make pizza but understand that the new company name is Mark Place.
While I was in Maine, I had to have a lobster roll. However, since I was not near the coast, I decided to look for a restaurant advertising a lobster roll, so I wound up here. Their lobster roll is decent, which you can order as a standalone menu option, or pay a few dollars more and order as part of a plate (which has fries and coleslaw). Of course, the restaurant also has pizza, sandwiches and even a breakfast buffet. There's also the family restaurant, which involves having a good number of tables. However, it appears that you order your food at the counter and wait for your number to be called, as there was no waitstaff to be found.

Ruby Food

It's unfortunate there are so many poor reviews because Ruby Food is one of my favorites. Are there better Chinese food restaurants out there? Sure, but if you're expecting this place to be a gourmet 5 star restaurant then you've obviously set yourself up with unrealistic expectations. They absolutely kill it with their garlic sauce. I literally go looking for vegetables/chicken in a garlic sauce that is as good as theirs and there is just no comparison. My family and I have been going here for 15+ years. I usually get a combination platter that has the veggies in garlic sauce, rice and chicken wings. We have never had a bad experience and always try to stop in when we head up North. While they don't have a liquor license, the Blackhorse Tavern up the street does and there's alcohol sold at the liquor stores and gas stations so that really shouldn't be a deal breaker. Get some take out and a 6 pack and enjoy your time up there!
Ordered and received two inedible dishes. Both seemed to be doused with vinegar. I was sure that we were pranked because it was a take out order and if we hadn't been staying so far from the restaurant, we would have asked for new food or our money back. It was the worst food and had to be thrown out after one bite of each dish. Now I understand why NO one was in the restaurant and they had no other orders being prepared when we were there. YUCK!
I'm very impressed with this place. The sesame chicken, the ribs, the egg rolls, the lo mein have all been exceptional, as with everything else we've tried there. The portions are very generous (plan on getting a box to take some with you). On top of that, the staff has always been very polite and attentive (a HUGE plus for me) .. it;'s got a charm all its own and we'll keep going back. Nicely done guys!
