We were in town visiting family recently and had the opportunity to try Kosta's for dinner. While the menu is fairly standard, everything we tried was tasty and well executed by the kitchen so absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Prices are affordable to boot. But what makes this a five star review was the quality of the service we received. The bartender, Trisha, was running the back bar and dining room all by herself while we were there and she was slammed. Every seat in the place was full. Not once did she ever get rattled or lose the smile off her face. When she took our order, she was very patient with our questions and gladly took some special requests such as my wife asking to double up on veggies with her broiled haddock in lieu of fries or rice (Sure! No problem...) or me asking for a thinner crust for my Greek pizza after she explained that the pizza crust tends to be a bit thick. I hate to be fussy but I cannot stand thick crust pizza. She pleasantly offered to have the kitchen make it thinner for me. Carbo-kid had the Fettuccine Alfredo and loved it although she could not finish it. The portion was huge. What really topped the experience was the very generous pouring hand of my now favorite bartender. Holy smokes do you get your money's worth when it comes to mixed drinks and wine. No skimping here folks. I was so impressed that I have now reconsidered my retirement plans. I can now envision me sitting on the corner stool at Kosta's (probably resembling Norm from the TV show Cheers by that point), maximizing my meager social security stipend by getting economically loaded with the help of Trisha's pouring skills. Of course if I ever share that plan with my wife my next and last memory will be of her standing over me, smoking Glock in hand, asking, "How the hell do I reload this thing?"

Not sure why this restaurant receive such high reviews. Our food was good, not great. I had chicken Marsala and my husband had the gyro. Don't look at the carpeting....yuck and the seat cushions are just as bad. Very limited wine selection. The waitress was sweet and helpful. I'm not sure what other restaurants are near, but I would check it out before Kostas.

Out touring the trees and lucked into this great homey spot. The hubby and I both had the moussaka - we needed a break from all the seafood we'd been devouring. It was a very generous portion of deliciousness. Great service got us quickly back into our car for more touring.

Excellent Restaurant, great food and reasonable prices. Have visited there about a half dozen times and gotten something different each time. So far, some of my favorite entrees have been the Sirloin Tips (perfectly cooked and tasted amazing!), the Bacon and Shrimp Mac n' Cheese (hello comfort food) and the Spanokipita. They also have a nice bar area, if you prefer that atmosphere. Looking forward to my next visit!

This is a review from a former regular (I moved out of state, and thus-far have not found its counterpart in my new neck of the woods). The food - Amazing. The ribeye is reasonably priced, and by far better than any steak I've gotten at a Maine steakhouse. The wings are also the best in the area (boneless or bone-in), and they have a cool selection of sauces to choose from (BBQ is awesome, and Redneck wings are very good). The Bar - There are two of them! one in the dining area, one in the back in the sports bar/pub area. Both are well staffed, and have awesome selection and awesome mixed drinks. If Terryka is working, be at whatever bar she is working at. She is the best bartender/mixolgist I've ever met. Tell her Garrett told you to have her make you a Purple Nerd - you won't regret it! On a side note - I think the 22oz beers in the back bar are bigger than out front - they have two different style glasses between front and back bar. The back bar's 22 is more like a large glass stein. The wait staff is always fun, and great at holding a conversation. All the regulars are great, and will pull a chair up for you if you have never been. I miss this place, but will definitely go there whenever I am back in town for a visit

Great neighborhood bar out behind the family resturant in the front. Cannot go wrong by stopping in for a beer or two and one of their get burgers.

LOVE the Kosta's! The BBQ Bacon burger is one of the best burgers I've had and could feed two people. We eat there a lot and have yet to have a mediocre meal. Also recommend any sandwich on their wheel bread.

I've never had a bad meal here. The gyros are particularly tasty -- nice service too. The weeknight special for two (app/entrees/shared dessert) is a great deal.

Kosta's serves greek dishes that have been popularized in american culture like gyros or typical american fare with some greek twist like salad with a feta cheese dressing. There is a full bar with stool seating available and a large flat screen there where you can sit and have a few drinks and watch a game or chat, as well as a dining area with tables. The food is quite decent and the decor pleasant. Nothing wildly exciting, but quite a nice place to spend an evening. Please note: The restaurant does offer takeout: Call ahead and you can pick up your order at the bar. I've never seen Kosta's very crowded but there are always at least a few people enjoying a drink at the bar. Getting to Kosta's can be a tad tricky as the street there doesn't allow left turns into the parking lot, so you will have to drive past it and then turn around and go back if you are coming to it from the other side of the street. Also, when you leave, the only option is to turn right, towards Ellsworth, so if you are trying to head back towards the river or Bangor, you will have to do the same kind of turn around operation in reverse.

Kosta's is a great Greek fusion place that has a nice atmosphere, decent lightning, and a pretty upscale feel to it. Walking in to the establishment I was greeted with the lovely blend of 30s and 40somethings enjoying a few drinks and a lovely meal. There is something for everyone here. There are quintessential Greek dishes that you would expect to find, plus evening specials that fuse your typical steak and potatoes with a Greek flair. The service was perfect (not to mention very attractive.) Our server was funny, and engaging when we wanted him to be. He certainly didn't rush us out the door; we ended up staying there for the better part of two hours. The price scheme was acceptable, and the wine list was diverse and also priced very well. Overall a unique experience in the Brewer area. Watch our Bangor, Brewer is rising.

I don't know why anyone would go to a certain chain restaurant in Bangor that serves mediocre pasta after having the HEAVENLY Chicken Parmesan or other selections of delicious pastas and entrees such as Chicken Marsala at Kosta's. They have delicious deserts that are fresh not frozen. They have an awesome drink menu and a lively bar. I consistently get takeout for my lunch from their insanely inexpensive lunch menu. Do yourself a favor and have one of their sandwiched on their homemade "wheel" I will miss this place when I move but, i'll be back when I visit!

I had time to kill while waiting to do a Moxie book stop in Orono. I'm not a mid-afternoon, stop at the local bar kind of guy, but Bangor/Brewer in the middle of a January arctic blast is pretty unforgiving. It was a a beer, or walking around the mall. I've done the mall before and I'd rather not do that again if I can help it. The weekday happy hour runs from 2-5 and it seemed like a haunt for regulars. Friendly crowd and very attentive bartender. I hated to leave after one beer. $2.99 22 oz. beers are hard to pass on. The Yelp reviews rave about the food; I'm sure it's really good. I'll be back.

Before you go decide if you want a lively atmosphere or relaxed. In the front is a basic restaurant and in the back is the bar. I made the mistake of going to the restaurant and sitting at the bar. It was good though. I had the Gyro, and a local beer. Nice people. Next time I will go to the back.

A favorite spot for my girls and me! My kids love their Mac and cheese and also the chicken and broccoli Alfredo. They often finish with either ice cream or turtle cheesecake. I've tried most of their menu and liked everything, but almost always order the Greek salad. I could eat that every day-- yum!

Always delicious and great service. A good place for a fast workday lunch. The specials are always tasty. Try the steak wheel if your really hungry.

Greek Cuisine

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.

Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
