Another establishment with some delicious lobsta rolls! Yelp didn't fail me again with this place. My husband and I really enjoyed our meal. I like that their place mats had a word search of Maine destinations and words. It kept me from drooling and waiting for my lobsta roll to arrive. They only have one cook and one server, so make sure to be patient with them. My inlaws all highly recommend Eagles Nest as well. It's right off of a busy road, so pay attention when driving by. If you're not familiar with the area, you will drive by and miss it, like we did. Hehe...

After a lovely holiday in Bar Harbor, we decided to stop by this roadside diner on our way home. It was slightly out of the way, but the steady high ratings from Yelp led us back here. Boy are we glad we came! I split the seafood platter with a friend, and boy was it good. Some of the best fried scallop's I have ever had! Tender haddock. A few too many fries, but still soooo good. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Just realize that the portion sizes are HUGE.

Ridiculously good lobster, even if it's difficult to find. I was on a family trip through Kennebunk/Kennebunkport and Bar Harbor, and was determined to eat as much lobster as possible. When I heard about Eagle's Nest and heard some of the reviews, I realized I needed to try it. The location is difficult to find because it's a small roadside diner plopped in the middle of a residential area. We actually thought we had the wrong address at first, as there are no other restaurants or businesses in the immediate area. Parking was a bit challenging as the space is limited. That said the food is excellent and Eagle's has one of the best lobster rolls I've ever eaten. The roll has minimal mayo, and the lobster was excellent quality. The fries and coleslaw were both good, but the lobster roll was so excellent it didn't even matter. The wait staff was friendly, and even during a busy lunch hour the wait wasn't too bad. It's definitely family-friendly and there were many other tables with kids of all ages when we visited. Overall this is a high recommend if you love lobster rolls, and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Maine.

Very nice and cozy place with an amazing river waterfront view! Lobster roll: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Views: 5/5 After trying lobster rolls all over Maine, I go back to this place. The way they serve it, the quantity and quality of the lobster meat are just perfect. If you're visiting Bangor, this is a nice place to grab a lobster roll. #lobsteromania

Now that's a lobster roll. Yes, it's $18, but it comes with fries (you can substitute corn, but be warned, it's just from the can) and enough meat for two rolls. That being said, the lobster was delicious but the mayo used overpowered the fresh taste just a little too much for my liking. The lobster stew is really just lobster claws in a cup of hot butter. They were amazing, but we just ate the claws- didn't feel up for a heart attack tonight. The place is a shake about 10 minutes off of Rt 1, and right along the river. Service was a little slow but very friendly, and parking was easy enough.

The Eagles Nest is a super-simple family-run restaurant. It's tiny and sits right beside the road. They have a pretty diverse menu (considering how small it is) but Maine seafood is their specialty. I had the fried clam dinner, and can attest to how fresh their seafood is. My clams were whole belly clams (typical for Maine), lightly breaded, and quickly fried. They weren't greasy, nor did they taste of grease. The French fries were also good, but not particularly remarkable. Overall I enjoyed my meal. However, I thought it was a bit expensive. I don't know how the seafood industry works, but $20 for my 6 ounces of clams and an order of fries seemed a bit high (it also came with cole slaw, but I don't eat mayonnaise).

I greatly enjoyed the Eagles Nest. On our way up to Bar Harbor and getting hungry, I turned to my fellow yelpers for advice and saw that this place had fantastic reviews. It's about 10 minutes off of the highway, located overlooking a wide river. It's got a bit of a divey feel to it, and you certainly aren't going for the decor. What was special about this place was the food. Signs on the walls recognizing it as the best place in the area for lobster rolls along with the strong endorsement of the server led me order one. At $17 it was a steal. There must have been 10 lobster claws, served cold on top of a lobster salad in the sandwich. A must try if you are in the area.

Mmmph this place is awesome. Bf and I stayed in Brewer for a night, and before we drove out to Acadia, we consulted Yelp for some good eats. Eagles Nest had some pretty high reviews, so we decided to go for it. It was great. Literally just a random shack on the road in the middle of a pretty rural, residential area that was such a gem to find. It's essentially a small diner that sits overlooking the river next to it. We got a lobster roll to go which was prepared pretty quickly. Definitely one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. The lobster portions were extremely generous, the coleslaw was DELICIOUS and the fries were pretty solid as well. It was so simple and so perfectly executed. Lobster was soft and tender, the mayo it was in complemented well too. Price was pretty standard for a lobster roll, but oh god the portions really were amazing. Good thing we shared one because we were respectably full after this brunch. Service is also super friendly! tldr; random place that serves some really really amazing lobster rolls

First time here, several friends mentioned this is a must stop for a great lobster roll. We were very impressed with the quality and quantity of the lobster. We will add the Eagles Nest as one of our regular stops while in Maine.

Lobster Roll - more LOBSTER than roll! And that's just how Eagles Nest rolls. First timer in Maine and my companion/boyfriend/local/lobster maine-iac whisked me inside this quaint shack to help authenticate the taste of that mythical Maine lobster roll. I'm ruined because now I know what a lobster roll entails (literally tail and claws with no part to spare). The good cholesterol +'s: + Lobster. Plenty of it on the roll. Fresh and bulging out of the roll. + Fresh and succulent meat dressed in some type of mayo dressing that is complimentary and not confounding. + Generous helping of chocolate cream pie for $5. + Warm and basic setting with a nice window view of the river which you can't see on a winter night but hey it's there. + Friendly service. Laid back but attentive. + Fast turn-around from ordering to dining to paying. The bad cholesterol -'s: - The roll, coleslaw and french fries are just sides. Nothing to note or to ponder. TIP: Not crowded in early evening near Thanksgiving time. Parking is a cinch. We were one of only three tables that were actually occupied. Eat a fry with the lobster roll at the same time. Never heard of such a thing until I was coaxed. Must try. No alcohol served.

We were in town for a convention, and decided to come here for some Maine lobster rolls since it has the best reviews on Yelp! Sure enough, Eagle's Nest Restaurant was the right choice. As others have said, the amount of lobster that you get in this roll is absolutely worth it, so much more than you would get at other places. I had to eat half of the lobster on the roll before I could actually lift up the roll without anything falling apart (this is not a bad thing). The fries and cole slaw that came with it were good as well, and the whole meal was unexpectedly filling. The restaurant itself is located in a pretty isolated area, but it's right by the water which provided some nice scenery. The decor is nothing special, it looks like a house renovated as a restaurant. I'm used to nicer decor, but the food made up for it!

Fantastic Lobster roll...... think my roll had an entire lobster....therr qas so much meat. Be carefule as you are looking for it or you may drive past I am so glad I chose to eat here during my visit Bangor.

This apparently is the place to go for the lobster roll. I may not be a fan of lobster rolls in general. I didn't like the bread, and although the lobster was plentiful, I think I may not like cold lobster. The place was nice though. The views out the small windows was of the river. It was a tiny place and the floor seemed to slant. I was stared at by the locals, but not in a mean way... more curious way.

Get here while in Maine. It may be a bit out of your way, but man oh man, you'll be glad you did for this is an authentic Maine experience. We walk in and were the youngest people by 3 or 4 decades. This is where the old school Mainers get dirty on seafood. You know why? It's simple, damn good and cheap. The lobster roll or should I say platter since it spilled over onto the plate there was so much lobster was $16.50. It came with so-so fries. But you're not here for the fries, you're here for the real stuff. The roll was all lobster, a bit of mayo on a buttered roll. Nothing crazy, but oh so good. So. Much. Lobster. Since I mean when in Maine we ordered up the fried clam bellies and scallops. DAYUM. Fresh whole clam bellies and huge scallops, breaded and deep fried. So bad, yet so, so, good. The fries weren't anything awesome, so don't waste the calories. Totally the best bang for your buck for some down home seafood eating. Located in an old-school shanty on the river, it's definitely a great pit stop. Do it. A huge thanks to Yelp for leading me to this gem!

There are lobster rolls, and then there are KING KONG lobster rolls. The one at the Eagles Nest is freaking massive and overflowing with claw meat from a whole family of lobsters. The sandwich is lightly seasoned, not too much mayo, and is how it should be served -- this is a must taste in northern Maine. The rest of the menu, however, leaves a lot to be desired. The french fries are meh, and the peanut butter pie tasted like funky pudding slopped on a limp store-bought crust and covered in a mound of whip cream. Most of my coworkers have also mentioned that no one goes to the Eagles Nest for anything other than its kick ass lobster roll, so just know that going in.

I was alone on a business trip to Bangor Maine and arrived just before dinner time on a rainy Tuesday evening. I love lobster and have been on a search for the perfect lobster in many cities up and down the east coast so when I read the Yelp reviews about Eagles Nest in Brewer, I decided to hop in my car and find this hidden gem. The reviews said parking and tables would be scarce because it's a small but popular place, but I lucked out on this evening - found a parking spot right in front and only 3 of the 8 tables were full - score! I took a seat facing the window overlooking the Penobscot River and laughed to myself that I was going to have a really unique Maine experience - with no one to share it with. I ordered my lobster roll and an iced tea and I thought the lobster roll was a steal for the price - I've paid much more for a roll that was half the size and not nearly as good so ignore all the posts about the place being too expensive. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite and every second of my trip to Eagles Nest - I actually wanted to go back the second night of my two day trip but had plans. This might actually have been my first and last visit to Eagles Nest since it's not likely that I'll be back in the area but I will remember it as "the place with the perfect lobster roll" - until I find one better.

You know how you go to those tiny towns in Europe and you stop in the small, unassuming village with the small, unassuming restaurant and a couple of hours later you realize you just had one of the best eating experiences of your life? That's the deal with the Eagle's Nest. As other yelpers note, it's the mother of all lobster rolls. A huge amount of lobster flawlessly cooked and seasoned. It is a very, very special sandwich. The things that are fried don't leave you feeling like a bloated sow. And props on the cole slaw too -- not too mayo'd up, with a perfect kick of onion. Great service, down home atmosphere, unpretentious and seemingly packed with locals and not annoying Boston tourists. :)

We searched this restaurant on Yelp and decide to give it a try because it was listed as a highly reviewed seafood restaurant. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the service and the food options. It looks like the seafood options are quite limited and doesn't sound very interesting to us. What's worse, the waitress and the owner seemed to be unfriendly. They told us we needed to wait for 10-15 mins. 10 mins later, I wanted to double check with them about the waiting time again because we were in a hurry. But they got pretty inpatient and to me it was still 10-15 min after waiting for another 10 min! Eventually we can't stand the forever waiting anymore and decided to leave and wanted to let the owner to take us off from the waiting list so others can get in quicker. I walked inside the restaurant and before I even opened my mouth, the owner got very impatient and said "We'll tell you when it's your turn". I feel this is pretty rude business practice and I decide to give this review on yelp. Hope it's helpful for the Yelpers here.

Good service despite all the grumpy posted signs. Large servings of simple comfort food. The seafood platter is delicious. Don't look at the floor. It needs a good scrubbing.

My first time visiting Bangor, and my fellow Navy Airmen said that I had to get the lobster roll from the Eagle's nest. Boy were they right! Heaps of delicious Maine lobster, much more than the bun could handle, for less than $17. I think they make money on this because of low overhead, when I walked into the quaint, one-room shack it was like I stepped into 1950. But the dive-like feel only added to the charm - not to mention its picturesque setting on the Penobscot river. I couldn't say I remember the slaw and fries that came with the meal, but the lobster roll - Wow! And the service - superb! We had called in a large take-out order for our Navy aircrew and this didn't phase them. When we arrived the orders were hot and ready to go...and they even threw in a bottle of ketchup for us instead of a hundred annoying small packets. Will surely return to Eagle's Nest on my next visit to Bangor. If it's your first time in town and you have a hankering for lobster, don't go anywhere else.

Inside is small and crowded. Get the lobster roll takeout and go down the road to have a picnic at the boat landing! My #1 pick for a lobster roll, the quantity is incredible!

  • Diane H.

Went because of yelpers and was not disappointed. It's a SMALL restaurant and so there are signs everywhere to expect slow service. Out meals of burgers, scallop rolls and haddock were all delicious. Positive comments all around concerning the creamy coleslaw (that we subbed folrin fries). Nice river view if you can get a table with the view. We did not experience slow service and had a great lunch. We saw the huge lobster rolls that many tables were enjoying! Worth a stop if you are in or going through Brewer!

Really exceptional lobster roll, loaded/overflowing with meat. I believe it can be ordered CT (lightly buttered lobster meat) or ME (mayo) style. Fries were crispy & tasty. Salad was plain but very good. Little divey inside, feels like a diner with a better than average water view from a few choice tables. Service was ok but the place fills up during peak lunch hours so that was understandable. Would highly recommend for the lobster roll, as mentioned. Perhaps take out would have been a good option

  • Bob A.

A great seafood place! One of the best seafood platters I've ever had! The haddock pieces were the biggest pieces I've ever seen! Sweet shrimp and scallops with a thin breading that was scrumptious!! I love this little gold mine of a place and when I'm back in Maine I'm gonna be all over it! Simply mouth watering!

Hands down worth making the stop. Hole in the wall gem. The atmosphere, customer service and of course the food was all excellent. A place I will rave about when talking about my New England road trip. We ordered the lobster roll and the fish chowder and shared between two. The fries, cole slaw and pickled beets were wonderful too. We ended the meal with a slice of raspberry, and strawberry rhubarb pie with ice cream. I would go back and order the exact same meal next time. Thank you for surpassing our expectations.

As always the food here is without parallel. The portions are large, come hungry and you will still leave with some for later. The place does not look like much, but they make up with the food. I have not had one item here that didn't taste amazing.

  • Shawn H.

It was so good I forgot to take any pictures of the place although I did manage to snap one of our food...but only after we started eating. The combination platter was amazing. The haddock was definitely fresh as were the clams. I'm not too sure about the shrimp and scallops but they were very good. We also got a lobster roll and took one to go for my dad. A bit pricey but, of course, these things are for tourists anyway right?

Best lobster roll ever. I've been eating lobster rolls for 6 years straight in Montauk. And I thought I knew what lobster rolls were. But then I discovered this place. And really discovered what a lobster roll can truly be at its best.

  • K R.

Oh my! Come hungry for seafood; although there's steak tips on the specials, no one orders it. Don't let this little place miss out on your stop out of Brewer or down from Canada. The waiting room is outside on the benches and if you come during high time, expect a 5 minute wait. Worth it! Love the haddock sandwich. A whole side of haddock on a little bun with the fixings. Great fries. Generally at tentative service as there's not much waitstaff. One. I never get sick after eating this fried food, so that's saying a lot as it's a clear sign they use good oil and fresh fish. Love the eagle's nest!

A great place to grab a lobster roll but you can easily miss this spot by driving right pass it. They stuff the lobster roll here with a lot of meat, to a point where you have to munch on some lobster pieces first before being able to hold up the roll and start chowing down. The lobster bisque which was a cream based soup, was very rich and heavy, but there was a generous amount of lobster meat in the soup. If you're in the area, this is a place you wouldn't want to miss, especially their lobster roll.

  • Julie B.

This small restaurant has the best food you can get ( of this type) casual and good food for a reasonable price. The seafood platter looked fabulous but I was set on getting the lobster roll and seeing if it was as good as Red's (IT IS and a lot better atmosphere and little or no wait!). My husband had the fish sandwich (what a great buy for $8.95!) and delicious. Thanks Yelpers! It is because of you that we found this place!!

    (5)
  • Wendy S.

Everything was wonderful! The lobster roll was huge. I was able to substitute a baked potato for fries. The price was very reasonable for the amount of food you got. I would go back again anytime. The inside of the restaurant is classic and if your looking for something fancy this isn't your place but if you are looking for great food this is your place.

We loved this place. Great lobster meat in the roll, very fresh. We really loved this place. We also got the broiled haddock. All were very fresh and nicely sized. We got a lot of haddock in our dinner.

Came here for the lobster roll while we were vacationing in Otis after reading all of the good Yelp reviews. I loved this place immediately because it felt like a cozy, authentic, homegrown restaurant with a mix of locals and tourists. The lobster roll was delicious with a heaping mound of lobster, though I probably would've requested it warmed had I known that was an option. The lobster was fresh and delicious! Our waitress could not have been nicer, and really enhanced my experience there for never making us feel out of place though we were obviously more towards the tourist end of the spectrum. She was also nice enough to give us half a slice (though they seemed full to me!) of the blueberry pie and strawberry rhubarb pie, and only charged us for one so that we could try both. The scoop of vanilla ice cream too follows the same principle of generous portions as did the lobster roll. The prices were definitely above average for the area, but given the portions, still seemed fair especially compared to eating in NYC. They also have a good kids menu, if you're traveling with kids as we were that day.

Old school diner that we stopped in for a quick lunch during a road trip. Fried clams were the winner here for us, though we did also order the lobster roll (okay for me). It is a tiny place though with cramped seating. A good throwback dining experience. Wasn't cheap though, for 3 people (1 ordered a smaller meal) it was over $50 with tip.

The Eagles Nest restaurant is one of my favorite places to come when I'm in Bangor. It's a very small eatery with extremely limited seating. This quaint little dive is perched over the Penobscot River with a great view out the back windows. I come here for one reason and that it the lobster roll. You can order a lobster roll two different ways. First, you can have the meat heated and served on a toasted hotdog bun with drawn butter. I prefer the second method which is cold lobster meat tossed in mayonnaise and served on a toasted hotdog bun. I've heard that they're not serving as much lobster meat on the roll as they used to maybe 5-10 years ago, but as I'm not from the area I can't comment on that. I just know that they're tasty enough to order two if you can do it! Stop in and enjoy one! You won't regret it.

  • Jerry W.

Let me start out by saying the lobster roll, the main event was 4.5-5 stars...very good. The details ruined my review. The bread was straight of the bottom shelf at Walmart and thrown in the microwave for a few seconds. The fries were clearly frozen. Frozen fries can be good, but these seemed to be cheap frozen fries...not very good. The service was quick and friendly.

    (3)
  • Jason H.

Probably the biggest and best lobster roll around. $18 is nothing when you get so much lobster that a 225lb guy like me can barely finish one. Great, underrated breakfasts, too.

Well worth the stop at this small whole in the wall on rt. 9 near Banghor. We got the lobster rolls which were overflowing with big chunks of succulent lobster. Fast and friendly service.

  • Rion R.

My first lobster roll experience and it will be difficult to top this one. $16.50 for the Lobster roll and it is basically a piece of toast with about a pound of claw and lobster meat pieces stuffed on top. Comes with a side of fries and choice of side. The coleslaw was excellent as well. If you like fancy then keep on driving as this is your down and dirty dive bar. Large groups are going to have a wait as there is very limited seating inside. I would be here at least once a week if I lived here.

We tried to find a lobster roll place on our way back to Boston from Acadia. Based on yelp reviews we got take out from the Eagles Nest. Wow!! I've never had so much lobster meat in a roll and it only cost $16. I'm going to try and upload a photo so everyone can see.

I'm from Kansas City, and learned about the perfect food know as the lobster roll only after I was an adult. As such, I now pursue, preach, and procure lobster rolls with a zeal known only to the born again. I travel heavily for work, and will try a lobster roll anywhere they are offered. I've had some bad ones, some good ones, and a few great ones. Eagles Nest is the best ever. Generous portions of simple lobster on a light roll, these are everything that the should be and nothing else. There is a place in Manhattan that comes close (Luke's, fwiw) but they are not as generous in their portions of delicious, succulent lobster. No one is.

I can't believe I grew up less than 30 miles from this place drove by it several times growing up yet never stopped! Since moving back to Maine after retiring from the military several friends and family members told me I had to go to The Eagles Nest. I am a lover of all things lobster and was not disappointed by their lobster roll. I believe they stuff the hot dog bun with a whole lobster based off the amount of meat! A neighboring table had lobster stew and it was full of lobster, I will be back this week to try that out. On another note, the french fried were awesome too...Perfectly crispy! No place on the coast can compare to this fine establishment!

Let me preface by saying I have never come here for anything other then the lobster roll, and to be honest, why would you ever get anything else on the menu? One of the best lobster rolls you will get, anywhere, period. Few lobster rolls exist that are of this quantity, and quality of meat used. If your a lobster roll fanatic then this place needs to be on your lobster roll bucket list. And for 18 bucks and a relatively short wait?? Cant beat it.

Eagles Nest is a hole-in-the-wall seafood diner located on an edge overlooking the Penobscot River. If you're lucky enough to land a window table, it's a gorgeous view of the river. Their claim to fame is their lobster roll, touted by many as the best in all of Maine. The actual sandwich (if even that) is less so a roll and more like a tiny piece of bread overstuffed with a good 5-6 huge pieces of lobster claw meat. The lobster is fresh and lightly dressed with mayonaise sans butter. If you're a fan of lobster, they don't mess around here. The drawbacks were that it's only claw meat, the bread wasn't toasted, and it wasn't an actual roll (for better or worse). It comes with semi-soggy fries, a slightly sweet coleslaw, and a crunchy dill pickle. All in all, a nice protein-packed meal for around $17. If lobster doesn't tickle your fancy, they also fry up a number of other dishes. The haddock fish fry (an all-you-can-eat affair on Fridays and Saturdays) is particularly popular with the locals. The problem is that the wait takes forever since there's only one cook and one waitress so by the time you get your food, your reorder will take another good while to come. The actual fried haddock flaked beautifully, but wasn't as lightly battered as it was promoted. But, it does come with an amazing tartar sauce. The pieces were so big that I wouldn't have been able to get a second order even if I wanted. Still, it's a great deal for only $10.

If you're looking to fit in with the locals, look no furthen than Eagles Nest. Barely a large step off of Main Street in Brewer, this never-renovated bungalow houses eight small tables of Maineiacs all looking for the same thing: The best lobster roll. Though there is only one cook and one waitress per shift, the wait for food is never long and the meal is definitely worth it (so long as you order the lobster roll). For $16.50 their Texas toast is overflowing with large chunks of lobster tail and claws mixed with a perfect blend of smooth mayonnaise. The meal is served with large, fluffy french fries and a small cub of colesaw (mayonnaise-based) and a pickle on the side. The lunch hour can get a bit crowded so try to show up before noon and with a small party if you want to be seated immediately. Whether you're just passing through the area or new to the region, definitely put Eagle's Nest on your list of "Lobster Rolls Not To Pass Up."

Saw this place driving from Massachusetts to NB after just having lunch Schooners and made note of the small but full parking lot so four days later on the way back we stopped. As others have said the lobster roll is huge; full of good claw and knuckle meat dressed lightly in mayo. Excellent! We also tried the Lobster stew. This was very good. Also full of the same lobster meat but warmed in a mild milk based broth. Flavorful, simple and generous but the broth could have been more interesting. BTW the onion rings are house made and perfect with the lobster roll and can be substituted for the fries for a small charge.

I went on a business trip to Bangor 2 years ago. 2 local colleagues brought me here for lunch. It looks like something from diners, drive-ins and dives. Little did I know that all other lobster rolls in my lifetime would be based off the one that I ate at this little dive with a great view overlooking the river. It was extravagantly stuffed with giant pieces of lobster meat. The roll was perfectly buttered. It was rich and delectable. I still have not found another lobster roll anywhere to be comparable. My husband and I are actually planning a trip just so we can visit Allagash and so he can experience the lobster roll that I still talk about.

This is the best Lobster roll I have ever had. And I have had lots of them over the years. We were on a trip from NYC to Nova Scotia to find the best lobster rolls. And this is the place. After we ate here on our trip back to NYC, we stopped eating any more lobster rolls because we know we could not top this. Please open up a location in NYC!

Got seated at the counter one night which faces the kitchen...watched the food being made...well I would eat there anytime...the kitchen was clean, the cook was cleaner.. Great food and plenty of it......

If you ever tell me "I'm driving up 95 through Bangor in Maine" I will literally say: "STFU right now and GO TO EAGLES NEST" This place surprised the holy crap out of me and I was COMPELLED to write this. First, this was the highest rated restaurant in the near area so I thought I'd give it a shot. And god damnit Maine Yelpers, you got this RIGHT! This place is this tiny shack/hole in the wall place right off 395 (not too far off 95) and the lobster roll I had here was amazing. It was a little pricey, but I've never known a lobster roll to be under $15. Anyways, this place is a tiny building overlooking the river. The waitress was friendly but she has to handle the entire 10 tables (or so) by herself, so don't get crazy with the service comments. The kitchen is also tiny right behind the bar. And the menu has a lot of fried stuff. I just decided to see what the fuss was about with this Lobster Roll. Let me F'n tell you what's going on with this lobster roll. It was Fresh, it wasn't too sweet, it was lightly sauced, and it had no frills. It just tasted like god damn delicious lobster. And I don't even LIKE lobster. God damnit, I'm trying to tell you I had the best god damn lobster roll in a shack in the Middle of Nowhere, Maine. To top it off, it had good fries and this coleslaw that also was god damn freakin' delicious. I had to ask what they put in it. I was privy to the ingredients which include: mayo, horseradish, and pineapple. Just go to this place and make your own judgement. But mine stands at "STFU right now and GO TO EAGLES NEST"

This was solid! I had a lobster roll. A five star lobster roll for me would be totally from scratch (mayo, bread) but I give four stars for fresh, cooked perfectly, generous portion of lobster. Not gourmet, just solid, fresh, respectable. I would go back if I lived in Maine! My husband had a crazy generous portion of broiled haddock with butter, lemon, pepper that he said was quite good as well.

Small mom and pops. Price is right. Good food. Try the lobster omelette. Good eating!

Great lobster roll. I went one night and had the lobster roll (mayo version) and mistakenly ordered a clam roll. I say it was a mistake since the lobster roll was so big that i didn't eat the clam roll. I did eat the clam roll iater but I will not comment on that since it was cold And not a good representation of how it should be eaten The roll was so good that I went back the next day before catching my flight out of town. I ordered a plain lobster roll with a side of hot butter and it was even better this time around. I preferred the butter version over the mayo. Either way, this is a great spot. Cost is as expected for a fresh lobster roll of this size. Service was personable and it really made the place stand out as a lobster shack venue. So awesome!

Yelp Does It Again! So this is the first place we stop into (for lunch) after entering Maine for a five day vacation. All I did was hit restaurants on Yelp and I'm treated to a 4 star review for Olive Garden (um...really Maine?!? This is the Olive Garden right?!?! Must have been a Bread Stick/Salad only review...I feel for you if this is the best Italian) ANYWAY... two decently reviewed Mexican joints and Eagles Nest. I picked Eagles Nest...five miles off the highway...great reviews...let's go.... HANDS DOWN THE BEST LOBSTER ROLL OF OUR TRIP!!!!!!!! Let's put this into perspective I tried 6 different Rolls in 5 days. I tried: Red's Eats (featured on Food Network, Yelp 4 1/2 stars) The Clam Shack (winner of Travel Channel's Food Wars {my least fav .actually}) The Lobster Shack (Ricardo Magazine {Ricardo is some French Canadian Chief} named them the best Lobster Roll in Maine; my second least favorite) Barnacle Billy's (Travel and Leisure Top 10) Footbridge Lobster (4 1/2 stars Yelp, 5 stars Tripadvisor) Oh, and some Hole in the Wall none Coastal place called Eagles Nest Even the Onion Ring were awesome (although I did have better Onion Rings on the trip....didn't know that was a Maine thing) The Five Stars is based solely on the Lobster Roll but if your looking for a Lobster Roll and are in the area this was my favorite....and I sought out to find the best!!!!

Yes, yes... Yes. I would drive roughly two hours out of the way to eat here. Lobster roll is bigger than I have ever seen and I grew up, 30 years going up rt 1 from Cambridge to Bar Harbor, St. John's or driving around to Nova Scotia. Go here.

Some of the best seafood I've ever eaten. Period. I ordered a lobster roll (never having had a Maine lobster roll) and an order of fried clams, because, well, I love fried clams. These were some of the best I've ever had! I'm not a big fan of cold seafood or mayo, but I also polished off much of that lobster roll as well. Outstanding flavor. I found myself going back and nibbling before I put it into the carryout but I just had to stop because I was so full. The place is a small - don't expect a fancy atmosphere. It's not a hole in the wall but it's definitely built around a small local service. Do expect great food and friendly people though. Being from Alabama, this describes just about every great barbeque joint we have, so I felt right at home. Go out of your way to find this place - it's worth it.

Hey Eagles Nest: You've made a lover of lobster out of my husband. That lobster roll was so great! It was delicate and not overly mayo-y, just perfect. And his scallop roll, he bragged on the whole trip: Yeah, they didn't even need seasoning. It was fried so well. Thanks, Love BW PS: I'm sure you've heard this before, but it's a little tight on the inside and (out). Turning into the parking spaces is OK, but pulling out is a little dangerous. Maybe next time I come, you've had expanded to another location and better parking.

We stopped here on our way to Acadia and frankly, it's overhyped. Food was mediocre. The lobster role had a generous portion of lobster and was fresh, but the flavors were bland. The fried clams were fair, but the batter not flavorful. I've tried much better lobsters in Maine. I wouldn't stop here again.

It doesnt get any better than this! No, seriously, it doesn't! Really small restaurant.. 4 booths, 4 tables, and 6 bar stools. Staff consists of 1 cook and 1 waitress. Food is very reasonably priced, For my visit there was an all you can eat fish (haddock) dinner for $9.95. The platter came to the table with 6, count them 6 pieces of fish and a truckload of fries all for under $10. The pot roast dinner was a few dollars less but had enough meat to feed a small African country, tasty green beans and a small baked potato. Of course we had to have a dessert (much later consumed)... a slice of pie, and by slice I mean 1/4 of it. I cannot wait to see what breakfast is like!!!

First let me start off by saying that this place is divey, the parking is sketchy, and it stays packed. In fact the table next to me was so close that the guy sitting there decided to use my shoulder to help himself get out of his seat. But now on to the important stuff. Probably the best lobster roll in Maine. Let me just say that when you order a lobster roll and there is so much lobster you literally cannot see the roll you know its going to be a good day. Easily a pound of fresh lightly mayo'd lobster completely engulfing my plate. I think the plate might have also contained some fries and coleslaw but I paid them little attention.

    (4)
  • Ray P.

Had the clam, roll and onion rings along with coleslaw food was very good although I felt like there wasn't enough for the price the lobster roll and fries certainly looked like it was worth it

  • Katie W.

best lobster roll i've ever had!! Eagles Nest is small diner, a local neighborhood gem. They toast their lobster roll and they overload the bun with lobster. You'll definitely need a fork to finish off the plate. For a loaded lobster roll, coleslaw, and fries, it's just $15.00! Cheap and good. I'll definitely be visiting again if I'm in the area!!

  • Stephen G.

We stopped on our way back to NB from Boston at the advise of friends. The lobster roll was amazing! So much lobster I had to use a knife and fork several times. The service was great and the place was clean. I will be stopping here everytime I am in Maine. It's worth getting off the highway for.

  • Ray R.

This place was recommended for the great lobster roll. I was told that it was just a hole in the wall...... and that it is. I read all the other great reviews and sorry to say that my experience there was not that great! Must have been there at the wrong time, but I surely was not impressed with the meal! My seat needed new duct tape. If the kitchen looks as bad as the dining area, this place should be closed down by the heath dept.

LOBSTER ROLL IS LOBSTER. So I think the quality part of the lobster are the claws .Well, lemme tell you - many lobsters died for my roll (thank you, lobsters, I appreciate it), because there were more than two claws in my roll. In fact there was so much lobster, we got lobstered out. Love the small town feel, and the lobster roll really is the thing to get - not goopy with mayo, and although it's a "roll", the bread is covered in lobster. You'll use a fork for this baby. Wish they had Moxie :( Also, they carry Pepsi products (boo hiss). Good amount of parking for the diner, and we found service to be very prompt, regardless of what the signs said.

Best Lobster Roll ever!!!!! That's it, I'm done. But to add, the service was stellar as well. And I loved the hole in the wall feel of the joint. But that Lobster Roll tho! Amazing!

  • Tough C.

Best Lobster Roll in all of Maine! WOW that is a bold statement! But I stand by it. The reason I say they're so good is because you feel like you are getting a WHOLE lobster on your roll. The lobster is so fresh, sweet and perfectly cooked! DELICIOUS! Their menu is not only for seafood lovers, they offer burgers and other delicious non-seafood staples. But, if you do like seafood, do yourself a favor and get the lobster roll with a side of fries. You will not regret it! A+++ Friendly staff to boot! Loved them!

Not to be redundant, but this Is a great place. And yes, as an earlier reviewer said, the housekeeping standards could be improved but its not a deal breaker, in my opinion. My hubby had the lobster roll which was great. The fried haddock was wonderful. Both were light on salt, which was good. The lobster roll was also light on mayo and chock full of large juicy lobster chunks. We noticed that some of the regulars also ordered drawn butter on the side so the sandwhich could be eaten like a whole lobster. The fries were crisp and the coleslaw was dry, crisp and sufficient in quantity. Nothing was soggy on our trip to the restaurant. I love these kind of local places, especially in Maine which is one of the very best places in the USA for many reasons. I would also like to point out that there is a motel across the street from the restaurant and the Colony Motel is just down the street toward Bangor. We stayed at the Colony and were very happy. The owner of the place is a living doll. The best part of it all is that, as you head down the Airline to and from Canada, you can get a night's rest and a good meal coming or going. This part of Brewster is very sweet and "Maineish." And the Salmon River is picturesque. We make the trip often and will make these two places a stopping point.

An unpretentious delight. If you can, and are with only one other person, sit by the window overlooking the river. It will round out the experience. This is a must stop for Lobster lovers. You'll definitely feel the warmth of a local business run right. It's by far my favorite sit-down restaurant for a good old fashion lobster roll.

This place was rated very well and advertised as having one of the largest lobster rolls around. That is a fact!!! The thing was huge and for about $16, was the most lobster we have ever had on a roll. In fact the lobster to roll ratio was way off; next time I would ask for another bread roll to spread out the lobster onto two!! The lobster was almost all claw meat, which was very good, but would have been even better mixed with some tail meat as well. My roll had at least 8 full claws on it from full size lobsters! They had a pretty small dinner and eating area; nothing fancy but well worth the stop if you are in the area of Bangor. Eating area had maybe 8-10 tables; we were there off hours, so had no problem sitting. Don't know about at dinner time. Parking right on the road in front, so backing out was a challenge to make sure no traffic was coming.

Food: great tasting, large portions Atmosphere: hole in the wall Price: great deal service: friendly Summary: if you can look past the old decor, whole in the wall atmosphere, this restaurant is a gem. Had the lobster roll and seafood platter with the wifey. the lobster roll is the best i've ever had, light on sauce, so the natural sweetness of the lobster shines, served on top of toasted bun, it's just amazing. Seafood platter consists of haddock, scallop (huge!!!), shrimp and clams. scallops are huge, haddocks cooked perfectly, shrimp and clams fried to perfect crispiness. Over all a wonderful experience, had enough food to doggy back a whole container for tomorrow. Will definitely come back if i'm in the neighborhood.

We stopped by this place on our way to Canada and wow.. This place delivered such a value. 16.50 dollar lobster roll, and two people shared one lobster share with an additional order of hotdog roll, and we were both filled. Great cole slaw, great fries. Great service

  • Owen C.

MASSIVE Lobster rolls... definintely worth the $15. I could probably eat $50 worth of food there... Don't expect fast service. I believe there is one waitress, and one cook... worth every bit of waiting... also helped that my family and I (9 of us) went on Dec. 26th, at 4pm, just before they closed.... PERFECT!!!

  • Jason C.

I stopped by this little place while in Bangor, and I'm glad I did! I had the lobster roll, which came with french fries and cole slaw. The lobster roll was ridiculous! It came in a toasted hot dog bun. To say it was overflowing would be an understatement. There was at least a pound of lobster, probably more, perfectly cooked. Well worth the $16. The fries and slaw were very fresh. The slaw was a bit bland, but a little salt & pepper took care of that. Took home a huge slice of their lemon meringue pie. This is my new "Go to" place in the Bangor/Brewer area!

First of all, the river view is really nice and enjoyable. For the food, I didn't order the lobster roll because I had lobsters for 5 meals in a row... seafood platter instead. I can't really tell how good seafood is after everything is deep fried, so well, I've had better.

Holy cow. I will start off by saying that I love this place. Love. This. Place. It is totally legit and you get what you deserve here. It is real. What is awesome here is that you are right on the river, and you know it's legit because the floor and tables are just a bit off kilter. They don't care about the stability of the floor, what they do care about is the food. Because the food is awesome. I got the lobster roll both times I went. Why? Because it's the best lobster roll in the state. Best. Lobster. Roll. In. The. State. The lobster is fresh, and they are not shy with the amount of meat they provide. Yes, it's not cheap, but it is worth it. And the view out the window is awesome. I will also say that I heard many others around me order many other servings of food. All you can eat Haddock on Thu/Fri, they had a great Philly cheese steak, they also have a great pot roast and all kinds of great comfort food. Seriously, if you are in the Bangor area you should visit this place. It is awesome. No matter what kind of food you get I guarantee you will be satisfied. For example, the blueberry pie ... well that is just a special piece of pie that will make you believe there really is an afterlife. An afterlife with this blueberry pie. Bottom line. Go here. Eat here. You will NOT be disappointed.

Hands down to their lobster roll and fried scallops! We went on a shitty rainy day for early dinner. Called the place in advance and knew that they closed as early as 7:40 pm. The restaurant was almost packed regardless of the horrible weather. We sat by the booth near the window and watched the river flowing and flooding. It felt the whole restaurant was somewhat not horizontal and leaning towards the river. The waitress was very nice. We ordered their signature lobster roll w/ fries, and fried scallop. The lobster roll was so fresh and tasty. And the scallops were amazingly huge. I heart the big fat scallops. While waiting for our food, I overheard the booth next to us ordered 3 lobster roll platters....see how great it gets. Also tried their strawberry shortcake. Quite good. I wanna move to Maine.

The following are my thoughts of our experience at the Eagles Nest Restaurant which we went to on 14 July 2011. After a 7-8 hour drive from Halifax, NS we had a hankering for lobster roll. We first tried a local pub chain (the one with the dog) and were sorely disappointed by the prices and portions (we left still hungry) and we didn't get lobster rolls! Not wanting to give up our lobster roll dreams (we had to head back on the road the next morning) we remembered the recommendations for the Eagles Nest on Yelp and decided to give the place a try. We got to the place -- and not a table was free. No problem we said. Lobster rolls, to go! While waiting, we observed the diners were happy and clearly enjoying their meals. Portions seemed generous (fish fry platter looked huge) and service seemed attentive in spite of the crowd. Everything seemed reasonably priced -- lobster rolls were $15 and change and the fish fry seemed like good value at around $10. We started to get excited and eagerly waited for our seafood treat. After paying for our orders at the Nest, we took a peak at the rolls in the parking lot. Woah. All we saw was Lobstah! Lobstah! Lobstah! I And just a tiny shard of the bun (see photo attached). Note: The lobster roll normally comes with fries and cole slaw as well. Since we were partially full from a paltry meal elsewhere, we asked the Nest to hold the fries and slaw...so please keep that in mind when you look at the photo. The boyfriend wanted to eat his roll on the spot -- whilst standing in the parking lot. I insisted on getting back to our hotel room so that we could enjoy them at our leisure. Lobster rolls after all are in no danger of getting cold! We raced back to our hotel room -- with visions of lobsters dancing in our heads. Back in the room, we could hold out no longer and tore open our precious booty. Mmmmm. Fresh and simply prepared. Lobster with just a hint of butter and mayo on a New England style hot dog bun. It doesn't get better than this. Certainly, this was the best lobster rolls I've ever had! And after our long day, this greatly restored our spirits so much that I was inspired to pen the following: Succulent lobster Kissed with mayo and butter Summer on a bun! Okay...so maybe I should keep my day job. But you get the drift... if you're in the Bangor/Brewer area -- give the lobster rolls at Eagles Nest a try!

That was one WICKED lobster roll! Big and yummy! Quick, polite service. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for an awesome Maine lobster roll.

Lobster rolls are $15 with fries and tiny side of cole slaw. Bustling business, diner atmosphere next to the water. Lobster meat didn't taste fresh for Maine and were all claw meat and had clots of cold mayo that was a bit much. Air conditioning was blasting in this trailer so don't sit at the counter. Maybe they don't want the cook sweating into your lobster roll. Maybe it's because we sat at the counter watching the food being made, or the cramped prep area, or the prep conditions, but this definitely is not worth a stop--definitely led astray by Yelp. Get your lobster elsewhere, like anywhere in Bar Harbor or Portland.

Great diner experience. The Super Burger is massive. If you are tired of small burgers, go to the Eagles Nest and get one. The all you can eat fish fry is huge as well. All you can eat for me turned out to be 1 plate. If you like hole in the wall diners, and large portions at a good price, then go here.

I was skeptical when a local family member (great aunt?) suggested this place as the best lobster rolls on earth. I was even more skeptical when we pulled up. Let me tell you, I was eating my hat in addition to the best lobster roll I've ever had! It's a wonderful tiny dive diner almost tipping into the river, and it's perfect!

Wow, awesome lobster rolls, made very well; not as much butter as other reviewers noted. They give you a lot of lobster meat, only 14.85 with coleslaw and FFries. The servers are also incredibly polite. There was a lineup of people waiting and they didn't hurry the other guests sitting at their tables. Charming interior atmosphere which overlooks a river. Note - Pancakes only served until 11am. Delicious strawberry shortcake, but I didn't realize it had so much cream.

Found this gem through Yelp. Amazing lobster roll with just a little touch of mayo. Homemade desserts are equally amazing. We don't mind the 2 hours trip from mid coast Maine to enjoy this great place

Imagine if you will that your distant uncle who lived in Maine decided one day to convert his little house by a nondescript river on a nondescript road into a world class culinary destination for people who love fish fry and lobster rolls. This would be the manifestation of that fantasy. This is a true Maine experience. The place is run by 3 people who are quintessential Mainiacs. You have the cook, the waitress and the dishwasher. All who look like they could be cast in the next Christopher Guest movie. I had the famous loberster roll ($13.95). It's overflowing with fresh lobster meat and just a hint of mayonaise- it's not drowing in it. It's lobster in its basic form. The all you can eat fish fry ($9.99) also seemed to be a big hit with the crowd that was there and it looked awesome as it went by. You should definitely stop by if you're looking for a place with more local flavor than Ruby Tuesdays.

Everyone is right about the awesomeness of the lobster roll here. We got efficient, friendly service too.

  • Chris D.

Wow Holy Lobster Roll! They had to have a whole lobster crammed into a toasty bun. As one other reviewer noted there is more lobster in that roll that will need to be eaten with a fork as well. We also had the lobster stew. There was probably at least 10 lobster claws in the bowl. The broth was not very good though. It tasted like watered down cream with butter. All together my wife and I spent 55.00 on a lobster roll each and splitting a lobster stew, If I am ever back in Bangor I will definitely stop by again.

When I'm in Maine, we go here as often as possible. It's awesome. My brother just got back and raved about the lobster rolls, the scallops, the burgers, the blueberry pancakes, oh my! Seriously, this place is awesome and so quaint and right on the river. It's perfect. Best lobster rolls in the country.

  • Josey J.

Great little place! I got the steak and cheese, nothin fancy, but the portions were good the sandwich was delicious. The bun wasn't able to hold up to the generous portion of meat and cheese, so they could upgrade there. That is a little nit pick. Service was great and I'll be back. I've also come here a year ago because I heard they had killer lobster rolls. They do!! Nuttin but da LOBSTER!! Not cheap but you get what you pay for, moderate in price compared to other restaurants. I agree with others that say this is the best lobster roll in the state (of the ones i've had)!

  • Allison B.

When you live in Boston, paying under $15 for a lobster roll is simply unheard of. In fact, even the one at Panera (practically a fast food chain, that definitely uses frozen lobster meat - blech) rings up at $20. So, coming here and being stuffed with a fresh, delicious roll was an absolute delight. Someone else in our party got the all-you-can-eat fish fry, which also seemed an excellent deal at $10. The fish comes out piping hot and was totally yummy. I really have no major complaints, but am knocking off 1 star for personal preference - the lobster roll was a little too buttery and mayonnaise-y for my liking. But I will definitely return!

My wife and I had lunch here today. Two lobster rolls. They were large and very good. The fries and cole slaw were the very best. If this place was any closer to the Penobscot River, it would be on it. Nice dessert selection too.

  • Mark R.

I've been here for breakfast and lunch. Everyone talks about the lobster, and yes, it is fresh, with generous portions, and amazing. They let the lobster rolls speak for themselves. But, breakfast is important, too. They have a nice classic American Diner breakfast menu. I had classic eggs, potatoes, sausage, etc. The food was all well prepared, served quickly and HOT! Very friendly service and reasonable prices. Great portions.

Thanks fellow Yelpers...found this tiny shack of a restaurant thanks to you. If you are reading this review, all assumptions will be you are a tourist in the Bangor area and looking for lobster. Unless you want one of the overdone tourist shops complete wtih Tshirts and high prices, this is the place for you. Read my lips: NO FRILLS, however, that is the selling point for me. If my grandma lived in a small town in Maine and owned a restaurant, this is what it would be. Extensive menu and lots of daily specials (such as all you can eat fried fish, meatloaf, turkey dinner, spaghetti, etc) as well as lots of basic side dishes (veggies, applesauce, fries, etc). They had about 10 different types of pies and cakes, but I don't eat sugar and can't comment on those. What I can comment on is the lobster roll...there was more meat on mine than in the two whole lobsters I ate the past two days! Served with two sides of your choice for under $15!

( in the voice of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog) NOOOOOOO, tell me it's a mistake and that NO ONE has been here due to its location in part of the world that is only visited by paper mill employed semi drivers and snow machine enthusiasts? Todd Palin, are you there? No one has yelped about these hallowed grounds, on the banks of the mighty Penobscot, well then I'll yelp louder than the BMW ( Big Maine Weimaraner) that I just stooped in the kitchen after having the BEST LOBSTER ROLL for less than $15.00 that our currently worthless currency can buy! Seriously folks, this seemingly scary, hole in the wall, truck driver infested, no tourists would dare touch it, hanging precipitously over the bank, about to drop into the Penobscot river, local dining GEM is worth the trip from Boston alone just to have the lobster roll, which when the market price rises, compels the owners hang a little hand written sign APOLOGIZING that the price had to be raised 50 cents ( couldn't even try making this up) BERKOWITZ, be ASHAMED !!!! Think 24 hour diner meets Cape Cod clam shack, yes, you can get all the diner staples, but the lobstah roll is at least a pound of meat, no filler, just enough Hellmann's to hold it together, overstuffed in a butter GRILLED hot dog bun, pickle and chips..... TEXTBOOK!!!!!!!!! Put it in Wikipedia for gods sake, this is the real deal as baby jesus intended! Have I died and gone to heaven, is Julia Child back from the grave, is butter low cal? This place is a foodie road trip destination if ever there was one ( Mike & Jane Stern, PLEASE GO AWAY, you are not wanted here) and if an Andeleman brother shows up you you will be cursed to all 'white meat chicken only' dishes the rest of your unsophisticated palette lives. KEEP THE PHANTOM AWAY or it will turn into the $25 a pop tourist destination that the Raw Bar in Mashpee now represents. ( Keep Yelp Phantom Free, PLEASE, those philistines have as much food knowledge as your neighborhood raccoon and about the same love of garbage) So if you happen to be in Bangor ( don't ask, don't tell) for the love of all that is calorific, then hit the Eagle's Nest, 'cause it ain't my grandfather's Berchtesgarden, that's for sure!

It's close to 2 pm and there is still a line waiting to get seated. Figure if I came after lunch hour it should be quick. Was I wrong, all tables and counter were taken and people waiting outside. This place was recommended by a local coworker. He said its the best lobster roll in Maine, and I would have to say it's up there.

ahhhh lobster rolls are sooo good and i dont even like lobster rolls! very light mayo on them, perfectly grilled bun and you can tell that the lobster is super fresh! the place is small and the poor waitress is so rushed around. Went around 3:30pm today and it was packed with a steady flow through the door. French fries were eh. and the place wasnt as clean as it could have been, but like i said the waitress was super rushed BUT she was wicked nice and bubbly the whole time. Food came out fast and turn over is fast. Def worth the wait if you have one. note: Prices have gone up on all seafood dishes. but still worth it.

okay people, just because there are alot of lobster meat on a lobster roll doesn't automatically make it 'the best lobster roll ever'. the lobster is fresh, and they mix it in a small amount of sauce so it doesn't overpower the flavor of the lobster which is fine. also, it is mostly claws (with the big tip of it which is not very good). but other than that, pretty bland, i've had much better elsewhere. the cole slaw was not very good either, ordinary at best. fries were also nothing to rave about.

Everybody writes about the lobster - but the fish & chips is great too! Nice piece of haddock. And they have an all you can eat special some nights. People friendly - a real Maine experience!

I was heading to maine for a week at a cottage and looked on yelp for somewhere to have a yummy lobster lunch. I printed out a few options and headed out. This place was on our way, easy to find and there was no wait. The place itself is nothing special but I was there for a lobster roll, not decor. My bf and I were seated next to the window overlooking the water. As we sat, every table filled in and everybody ordered lobster rolls! We ordered lobster rolls with onion rings and cole slaw. Everything was as promised! An overstuffed lobster roll with sweet Maine lobster, delicious onion rings and a nice home made slaw, not too vinegary, lightly sweetrned were everything we expected. I couldn't finish and my bf scored a chunk of my roll. The only disappointment was we couldn't fit a piece of homemade pie! On my way out, the waitress gave me a pass to acadia national park which would save us 20 bucks, as she had been the day before. And service was quick snd friendly. I will definitely return to this place!

My wife and I read the reviews on Yelp and stopped in for lobster rolls before heading back to the airport. We were not disappointed. They were absolutely delicious - just enough mayo and more than enough tender, juicy lobster. A great view of the river from the back window and very friendly employees, including the young woman who seated us and worked the register and the cook, who served us the platters and recommended dessert - a warm caramel apple pie. When we told them we would share one slice, the server brought us nearly half a pie, more than we could finish. It was fantastic. We were clearly out of towners but we were treated as family. After having lobster dinners on Friday and Saturday night at another restaurant which were very good, this late Sunday afternoon lunch at the Eagles Nest was by far, the best meal of the weekend. I hope they read these reviews regularly. From the two people from PA wearing the Michigan shirts, thank you. I'm so glad we stopped in.

You want a lobster Roll? This is THE place to go in the Bangor area. It is simply stuffed to overflowing with great tasting Maine lobsta and very little else. If you have to drive from Boston or The County, this is the place to go to. Oh yeah, it comes with piping hot fries that are none too shabby either. Best seats are near the window opposite the door. You can look DOWN at the banks of the river and the top of birds flying under you. A very well kept secret - until Yelp came along or you had good friends in the area to tell you this little place exists.

Was I ever glad! Best fish fry I have ever had and I'm from Gloucester,Ma. My mother in law had the western sandwich which I swear they used 4 eggs, 1lb of ham, 1/2 pound of peppers and a 1/2 pound of onions. OMG it was huge!!!! I can't wait til July when I get to go back!!!!!! Oh and the onion rings mmmmmmmmmm!
