This was our third visit to Delvino's. The food is fabulous, wait staff is wonderful. When our kids visit from the West Coast, they will drive a couple hours to have the mushroom sacchetti! If we are anywhere near Belfast for dinner, this is our go-to place. The decor with dark paint and plain brick on the walls is great. It is on our short list of places we always want to enjoy.

Decent food but it took over 50 minutes to receive our food after we ordered. We had chicken marsala, 4 fresh pasta dishes and a pizzette. Our server was on top of drinks and very helpful but after waiting so long to get our meals, I think you are just naturally in disappointment mode. My pizzette was supposed to be margherita style. It was far from a margherita style and the bottom was burned and tasted like cooking gas. Everyone else said their meals were wonderful and overall the server was attentive - I realize she has little control over the cooks but 60 minutes to get meals from the time they were ordered is not ok!

It's loud. Everyone has to yell to be heard. Which makes it louder. The bread they immediately brought was hot and a little gooey. There is an oil and vinegar salad dressing for dipping it. Now I know why: the oil alone could have been first cold- pressed newspaper for all the olive taste it had. The beer list: lousy; criminal, when you consider there is a good brewery down the street, and a dozen excellent ones in Maine. Wine list: a little better, but I didn't scrutinize it. We had pasta with garlic cream sauce (bland, salty) and pesto and roasted red pepper "pizzetta" (really salty, smothered in cheese but not in a good way). The ambience, other than the noise, is nice. Service was speedy and excellent. Perhaps just our menu choices but food just doesn't have it. If it was the 80's the food would have been excellent. Maybe that's why nearly all the patrons were over 50. Following what seems to be a trend, the napkins are of some synthetic material with all the absorbency of aluminum foil.

Love the mushroom ravioli and cozy atmosphere. Never have had a bad meal. The happy hour is great- $3.00 appetizers and drinks. Service is friendly.

We went last night for dinner and it was a fabulous experience. We had great service from Hannah. The wine list was very good and the food was good. We had a bunch of apps instead of a main dish. We really enjoyed the mussels, both steamed and smoked. The baked Brie was a little sweet for my taste, but still pretty good. The marinated mushrooms and the roasted garlic were amazing. The tiramisu was also off the chart. The best was when we got the check it was very reasonable!!

Came here late on a Thursday night after seeing a movie. Atmosphere was warm and inviting, service was great. Try the house calamari dish - very good and a bit unusual. If you're looking for a great neighborhood Italian joint, this is your place

We came to Delvino's for Mother's Day with a group of 8, 4 kids (ages 15,12,9, and 6) and 4 adults. It was pretty quiet when we came in and we were seated in the front window which was very nice. We ordered some drinks and noticed the beer was a little warm. Our waitress seemed a little frazzled so we decided not to tell her. I would suggested checking the temperature of the kegs if someone from the restaurant is reading this. Our waitress also forgot to tell us that they were out of chicken fingers for kids and we only found out once someone tried to order them and then we couldn't find anything else he wanted to eat. Overall, it was a good meal, the waitress was very nice.

The handmade mozzarella sticks are fantastic. The home made pasta is very good. Has nice ambience and full bar. Our group enjoyed the muzzles, gnocchi, lasagne, pasta with lobster and the Maine meatball. We would definitely go again. A very nice Italian restaurant in a small Maine town.

Food was yummy! Atmosphere casual and laidback. The brood and I partook of the 2 for 30 - great deal. The mushroom cap and calamari were both lovely but could have used a slightly larger serving for two people sharing. Fresh pasta, mushroom sachetti, hot italian sausage - EVERYTHING was tasty. The service on the other hand...meh...our server's attitude swung between "im so happy to serve you" and "fine but its going to be a problem for me". Also, the food took FOREVER to come out. Make sure you have plenty of time for dinner.

This was a great experience! What a wonderful meal. I was looking for a place I could get a gluten free lunch. My husband and I pulled up yelp and found a few places in Belfast. I read the reviews and said we should try this place. Food=spectacular, service=amazing, value=outstanding! We had two appetizers, two meals, one dessert, and two coffees 52.00. The value for what we had was over the top. In a 4 star in Boston this would have been a $100+ meal. We live an hour from here and I can guarantee you we will be back in the near future. We don't splurge often but this is worth saving for!!! Don't miss their flourless chocolate cake! Gluten free!!!

Delvinos was recommended by the hotel we were staying at. Staff was very friendly and answered our questions about the menu. Food was very good. And the desert was a great was to end the night. Took a little longer then I would of liked to get our food, but all in all it was good. We would go back.

Service was excellent! Wish I could say the same for the food. Had the shrimp over pasta in a marinara sauce. The sauce had a metallic taste like it was burnt. In fact for the next 24 hours I had that metallic taste in my mouth. The only gain from this meal is that my gold inlay filling now looks brand new. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this so called Italian restaurant.

A nice Italian restaurant for a small Maine town. We wandered in for lunch while walking around town. I had the sausage and broccolini ravioli, a nice combination and quite tasty. My only quibble was that the pasta could have been slightly thinner and more delicate. My friend wasn't in the mood for an Italian dish and ordered a chicken salad sandwich. She said that it was good, standard chicken salad, but nothing out of the ordinary. In reading other reviews of Delvinos, I see that several people were dissatisfied with the slow service. We did not experience that problem. We were in and out in a reasonable amount of time for lunch.

Went in at opening at 11am and had warm, freshly baked bread...amazing. The waitress made us top notch cocktails and the mushroom cap app was really good. Hoping to go back and try out some homemade pasta. Super atmosphere gives this place a 5.

After reading about their lobster risotto we were looking forward to trying it out. Unfortunately we went in on a Saturday night. Even though we had no reservations they found a place for us. However, the acoustics in the building are terrible!! We could not stand the cacophony around us and had to leave. We came back again on Tuesday night and were so glad we did! It was much quieter, although still not quite the ambience we were looking for in a romantic dinner. The bruschetta was a bit disappointing with no mozzarella in it. But the lobster risotto...was tremendous!! And it was enough to bring the leftovers back for breakfast the next morning!

A lovely new restaurant. I stumbled across this one as it wasn't listed on Yelp, but was really hungry so went in hoping for the best. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere as good too, with a mish mash of people visiting. Decor is modern and fresh. The food was way above my expectations. Pizza was home made and delicious. Deserts tasted as good as they looked (see photos). Definitely will come back with the family if I pass through Belfast.

The food here was actually quite good. I got a pizzette and the dough as awesome. The 1 star was for the incredibly bad service. 1. Our waitress took about 20 minutes to take our orders, minus the fact we had been ready for about 15 minutes and made it quite obvious. We got our salads pretty quickly and the food itself didn't take a crazy amount of time, although she served 3 tables before us... 2. When we were done eating (again pretty obvious), it took the waitress about 15 minutes to come over and ask if we needed anything else.. some water would have been amazing since both of our glasses had been empty about 5 minutes into the meal (and we had even asked)... We however asked for the check. 3. We started counting minutes at this point because it was just getting ridiculous. It took her 20 minutes to bring us the check. Then another 10 to pick up the check. Then another 10 to actually bring us the change. 4. I gave her a $50 for a $16 meal and got $9 back... last time I checked we don't have $25 bills in the US... When I went up to the register to ask (because I was no longer going to sit back and wait). A women who was not our waitress helped and was nice enough ... but then our waitress came up and was clearly frazzled. This is a tourist town in the middle of summer.... you need to have waitresses that can handle rushes and this restaurant wasn't even at full capacity. I never got an apology for the wait time. If the waitress had at least been apologetic, I wouldn't even be here complaining. 5. The girl pouring water: If someone asks you what the drinks specials are and you don't know, instead of saying " that's not my job, ask your waitress" it's probably better to find out... we didn't even end up getting drinks because we barely saw our waitress. ALSO, man alive, your skills at cleaning tables are impressively bad... How do you manage to keep that many crumbs on a table you just wiped... Not a pleasant experience. I would definitely not go back if I found myself in Belfast Maine ever again.

Delvino's might not have Michelin stars, but for a nice evening out at an affordable price, it's superb. My wife and I like to stop by for happy hour sangria, an entree and a salad- all for about $35 before tip. Try the wasabi salmon salad and the pesto chicken gnocchi- just fantastic.

Although it took 40 mins to get our entre it was worth it. Fresh pasta, nice atmosphere and friendly service. Definitely coming back

    (4)
  • Abi C.

I am never disappointed by Delvinos. The mozzarella is hands down the best appetizer. Their sangrias are always "heavy" and fruity. The wasabi lady salad tastes fresh and spicy. To finish you must try the flour less chocolate cake with raspberry sauce! It is decadent. Delvinos is and always will be my "go to" place!

Great food and great service every time. Especially waitress CL! Remembers all my favorites and takes great care of us. Excellent place to go for special occasions or just drinks and apps. Only thing I would change is seating it's uncomfortable. Overall amazing food!

Delicious food, great ambiance, not the greatest service. We had dinner tonight at Delvino's. It just happened to be "two for" Tuesday. For $30, you a full dinner for two that includes one appetizer to share, two small house salads, two pasta entrees with your choice of pasta and sauce, and one dessert to share. It is a very good deal! We started with the toasted ravioli appetizer. Very crunchy and filled with a cheese-based filling with some jalepenos. It was served with some marinara sauce. Yum! The salads are small (it's a good thing) with their yummy house balsamic. I asked for my salad without onions. The waitress forgot and had to go fetch another salad. To their credit, they did NOT just fish the onions off the salad and serve it again (yes, I can tell). My husband and I both ordered the gnocchi with pesto cream sauce and both ordered a side of meatballs. That was WAY too much given that you're getting three fist-sized meatballs in an order. The meatballs were an extra $5 per plate, but well worth it. They were delectable...delicious, light and meaty. The gnocchi were good--not the best I've had--but still tasty. The pesto cream sauce was a bit under-seasoned, but still good. Oh, on the service side...the waitress ordered our meals incorrectly and brought out two plates of ravioli with no meatballs. She took them back, and we waited another 15 minutes or so for our entrees to arrive. We had a really hard time flagging her down during the meal for water, bread, a refill on the drink. There aren't many tables at the restaurant, so I was puzzled why she was as absent and as scattered as she was. Even walking by, she didn't see our frantic waving for attention. We chose carrot cake for dessert. HUGE and delicious! I also had a blueberry martini made with their house blueberry puree. Well worth the money! This is a tremendous deal. JUST the gnocchi alone were $14.95 per plate on the regular menu. With the two-for Tuesday deal, we basically received a free appetizer and dessert (about $14 in food). It's a great deal, and the food is delicious. Had the service been spot on, Delvino's would have merited five stars. With the lapses in service...only four. The waitress detracted from what would have been a delightful dining experience. However, I wouldn't let that keep you from trying this restaurant. It's tasty, the portions are huge, and the quality is great.

We had dinner at Delvino's on Monday, June 24, 2013. We were walking along Main Street for another restaurant but couldn't find it thus ended up at Delvino's. It was already 8 pm and Main Street was pretty much closing. We were concerned we wouldn't find a place to eat. We almost missed Delvino's since the facade was so unassuming. However, when we entered we could tell there was a unique ambiance to the place. It was very warm and inviting, and wecould tell that it was going to be a good place to dine. We were a group of 6 with 2 teens and 4 adults, of which were some picky eaters. We had their calamari as appetizers which everyone gave a thumbs up. We had a variety of entrees - Truffle Ribeye, Grilled salmon, Fettuccini with Chicken in garlic cream sauce, a lobster special and Pesto Gnocchi. For dessert we had their "homemade" creme brulee and cheese cake which was a hit; and their almond crunch cake which was a delightful dessert. We walked in simply glad we found a place to eat and left really happy and delighted we found Delvino's.

Quaint Italian restaurant in Belfast. They showcase their roasted garlic alfredo sauce which is present in most of their dishes. I got it as a dipping sauce for our bread. I had to request for seconds on the bread. For the main course, I had their seafood lasagna from their specials menu which was very good. Delvinos has an interesting selection of desserts including the one I had, the coconut prickly pear flan.

Nice service, mushroom cap app was good. We split an entree and I'm glad we did. It was ok, nothing special. The red cream?? Meat sauce was rather blah and the pasta cheese spinach ravioli was a tad too cheesy chewy. The wine special Oz shariz was either not fresh or did not compliment the red sauce. Bread was good but I questioned the oil we were given. From my seat I could see the servers pouring oil out of a big plastic jug for a variety of things. The residue on the salad dressing bottle, which appeared to be oil and balsamic, covered my hand when I went to shake the bottle. An ok meal but I was hoping for better.

Late Monday, my sweeties birthday, no reservations, Delvinos had a hopping/busy night going on. Sled us into a table-for-two tucked in near the bar and we had some of the best food/wine/treats evah! Don't tell anybody.

Just got back from a dinner here and I had a great time. Three of us had dinner, drinks and desserts for around $100. Our waiter (Eban) was funny and very helpful when suggesting menu items to try -- and his special recipe chocolate martini is to die for. The food was excellent and the portions were a good size (not too big, not too small). The only drawback was the flourless chocolate cake for dessert -- instead of fudgy, it was runny. Other than that a great time was had by all.

MEAL 1---Stopped by for late lunch with my 2 best gal pals-- the good: SANGRIA was PERFECT, food was very very good! The so-so: service was friendly and eager but a bit slow with a few slip ups (one friend wanted salad dressing on the side but got dressing already in salad PLUS more on the side). It's only been open for a little over a year, so give these guys a chance! The interior is very cosmopolitan, with exposed brick, high ceilings, burgundy and black color schemes, and big front windows (that could use a little Windex). Yet at the same time, there was a half-dead big ugly plant in the window that dropped a few leaves on the table while we dined... not so cosmo... MEAL 2--- came back w/hubby for dinner-- the good: I had the special... lobster with fresh roasted veggie ravioli in lemon dill cream sauce and it was to DIE for. I told our waitress it should be their signature dish. The so-so: even though the place was almost empty at 6 PM, they sat us all the way back in the furthest corner, by the rest rooms...??????... wouldn't you think they would want to put people by the windows so passers by might be lured in? We had to ask to move to mid-room, so we could at least see our menus. I chalk this up, again, to inexperience. The staff are all super friendly and upbeat. Tiramisu was excellent. Portions are on the petite side... not horrible, but gee whiz, can you spare us some bread? Only 3 tiny pieces came in the basket... we had to request more. This up-and-coming place has a very bright future if they can hold on thru this terrible economy and keep their enthusiasm and upbeat vibe going. Go and support this budding gem!

Positives- Food! The food was really quite good (for those of us who received what we ordered)! And the atmosphere was quite pleasant overall... Cons- The service. Wow. The waitress messed up our drink orders (she got one out of two right!), the food took 45 minutes to come out (lunch time on Friday afternoon, with only two other tables seated... seriously!?!) and after only 5 minutes of having our food in front of us, our waitress comes over and asks if we want any boxes yet... Really? Before we left, we also witnessed her dropping a large container of what appeared to be lobster bisque, so maybe waitressing just really isn't for her. So as long as you get a better server that us, and are prepared for a wait before your food, these place is great! But if you're hungry and looking up reviews on your iPhone/Droid before heading in (as I was) go somewhere else.

Great Italian in little Belfast? Absolutely! We went in with three toddlers and five adults on a Sunday night. We were treated wonderfully and all of the items we selected were outstanding. Because the restaurant was busy, they called in an extra server just for out table. That has never happened to us before, and the waitress seemed very happy to be helping us. Great place.

This past weekend was my 3rd time eating at Delvinos. We showed up for dinner a bit before 6pm (the Sunday of Labor Day weekend). We shared the bruschetta flatbread pizza (perfect for two to share as an appetizer). It featured wonderful fresh tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. The bread on the table comes with a garlic oil you can dip it in (and the bread was hot out of the oven). The salad has their made in house balsamic dressing (you almost want to cry it is so tasty). Someone at the next table was saying they should bottle it and sell it. Soon after we started eating the restaurant filled up and when we left several parties were waiting for a table. I was glad to see the place doing so well! I had the ratatouille special (made with local veggies) and my husband had the rib eye steak with truffle butter. Both entrees were fantastic and we did not have room for dessert. Price for the meal was very reasonable (we both had micro brews to drink). This is now our favorite restaurant in Belfast!

We were thrilled, and always are, to see a new restaurant close by. Belfast sorely needed some decent italian food. We have had mixed experiences, it all depends on your waitperson and the time of day. We've never had a BAD experience, but some so-so. Consistency with the food AND the service is so very important to get return customers, and hopefully they will continue to work on this. We were so ecstatic to get a few really excellent meals and were excited when a friend visited from out of state and take him there. We raved so much about the mushroom raviolis and garlic cream sauce, and unfortunately, it was an "off" night (but a Friday). We got there early enough, little before 6 PM, and had called ahead. The place was pretty much empty, but filled before we left. The raviolis, which we all had this time, were undercooked and cold. So extremely disappointed after so many really good meals and embarrassed we had raved so much. We didn't even take a box home with us, a first.. We will not let one bad apple spoil our opinion, we will definitely return. But consistency is KEY. One thing we have noticed is that it seems the waitstaff have too much to do??? They seem to flitter around doing everything and the service suffers. Having been in the business in all aspects for many years, it is essential for your staff to know what is expected of them and assign appropriately with the correct time allowance. Staff should not be sweeping and cleaning in the middle of meal service. Perhaps they are understaffed, but it is a small place and these folks need to survive on their tips, so we understand. Don't let this deter you. The food is quality, fresh and 95% of the time the service and plates are more than excellent. We shall return, hopefully many more times, and if we experience a problem again, we will speak up (as a rule we don't complain, we just don't go back after a second chance). We want to see this place make it and be around for a long, long time and continue to improve and put out seasonal, fresh, local items. Please keep up the good work and please listen to your customers when they have an issue, and that goes for all food establishments. There aren't many people here off season who go out for a "real" meal, and you need to cater to them. You have some fabulous food and inventive recipes, please don't get lazy, it is the downfall of many restaurants. We'll be back, and pray to the stars we will receive the quality that we know exists.

Nice place with friendly staff and a limited, but tasty menu. Much like a lot of the "Italian" places in Maine, it tends to be part Italian and mostly Maine fish dishes - which would be fine for most, but I'm not a big seafood person so it was a bit limiting. As another reviewer noted, it was a little bit loud, but not too bad - not enough to stop us from going again.

Wow... Every single thing we had was excellent. Love this place. We had the garlic bulb, blueberry sangria, bacon wrapped shrimp, caprese salad, olives, and.... Lasagna, ravioli, pasta primavera, and mushroom sachet ti (I thinl). Every thing really was great and this place accommodates gluten free people as well. Highly recommended. Make a reservation for dinner.

Great local pub bar and grill. Loved it. $2 drafts and we had the Black and Blue loaded home made chips for an appetizer. Ate the prime rib sandwich and great waffle sweet potatoes fries. Others ate burgers, clams, and the Ruben sandwich. Great food!!! Will go back again on the way back through. Great place

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
