I'm not the usual vegetarian restaurant sort but this place has had me hooked for years. Yummy breakfast burritos filled with things like potatoes, kale, tofu, cheddar, and more leave me sated every time. And the irresistible bakery gets me on the way out - cherry chocolate chip cookies, fruit tarts, scones, etc. All top notch. Sure their service can be spotty and their hours mysterious, but I am surprisingly forgiving. I just can't resist them.

Did not sit and eat, only bakery. Cauliflower & Gruyere Tart... good. Berry Tart... killer. PB cookie... Ok.

I wish I could give the food at this place six stars. I had a vegan spicy tofu sandwich that was literally the best tasting sandwich I have ever had in my life, meat sandwiches included. Taste aside, I also admired the seemingly superb quality of the ingredients. The interior is quite pleasant as well. It's a bit loud, as it was full to capacity, and voices tended to echo in the big open space. But it's bright and airy feeling, and there's a small farmers market full of fresh unique fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. The long wait for lunch was a bit of a bummer, but it was absolutely worth it. If you have ever questioned whether vegetarian food can be delicious, this place might just make your doubts disappear for good.

Excellent lunch, including peppermint ice tea, Greek salad sandwich, omelet w/ goat cheese, summer squash & caramelized onions - topped off with a berry tart. Highly recommend fresh vegetable market in the back. High ceilings (tin) make it a little noisy, but great casual ambiance.

So it takes you a little bit by surprise. A brooklyn-y establishment in Belfast. Hmmm... and vegetarian super-friendly! Yippie! The baked goods are ridiculous so of course we ate everything. So totally worth the 1 hour wait for lunch!

LOVED it. Ate breakfast here my first day in town. Coffee was wonderful. Eggs cooked perfect. Thick sliced made on premise toasted raisin toast was BEST I have ever eaten. Went back day three and four and bought loaves of the bread. It was AMAZING. There was a bit of a wait on Sunday morning to get seated but now I know why. I am NOT a vegan nor vegg but loved it. Will be back next summer on my next vacation!!!!!!!

A gallery owner in Belfast recommended this place for lunch. I am far from being a vegetarian, but the vegetarian food made here with locally grown ingredients is simply delicious. The meatless enchilada I ordered was every bit as tasty as any I've had with meat at a good Mexican restaurant. My friend also was very pleased with her roasted beet salad. We had been warned that there is often a wait to be seated. I can certainly see why.

Sat down... There for 10 minutes... No waitress. Second time this happened. Waitress at the waterfront just overheard me saying this review out loud and confirmed that the same thing happened to her. You guys should care about your customers...

Wonderful bright open space and delicious food! I had fresh sautéed greens that had been brought in from the farm that morning and bruschetta with grilled onions, white beans and olives. Wonderfully hearty and filling. If I lived nearby I would have stocked up on fresh produce and tomato plants, too. Finished lunch with a pot of tea and a molasses cookie!

Fair warning: this is a vegetarian only menu. Which would have been lovely to know before being seated and ordering drinks. As a family who eats paleo/primal, vegetarian dies not work well for us. That was not the problem. The issue arose when the waitress could not offer any suggestion as to what we could try and then was terribly rude when we paid for our drinks, left her a 5$ tip on two drinks and she was still nasty. I have considered giving this place another try a few times but I can't get over the initial visit. Meat lovers you have been warned.

The food here is vegetarian, which for me and my partner is GREAT when in a land of meat restaurants. The menu is regular, with a couple of changing specials, usually around the pizza and a variety of daily soups. They own their own gardens that source their organic produce, much of which is sold in the back end of their shop. It's a beautiful shop, in a renovated old Victorian era building with tin ceilings. I highly recommend the Thai Green Curry Fried Rice with veggies and tofu, one of my personal faves. Yes, the wait can be long to sit, but they're getting better and it's because it's always busy at lunch. Yes, it can take a long time to get served. That's a really unpredictable facet of Chace's, and I wish it would get better at it. I have never, ever witnessed or experienced waitstaff being rude, like a previous reviewer complained about. They have really odd hours - it's T - Sun, 11-2 for lunch (or is it 3?), and dinner only on Friday nights. The dinner costs are too high, imho, for the food. The menu is different from the daily menu. nevertheless, I highly recommend the restaurant. We go all the time.

Beware out-of-towners - this place is a VEGETARIAN restaurant. This is not clear at all, there are no signs saying this and when we checked Yelp beforehand it had great reviews, but nobody (that we read) mentioned the lack of meat. How are out-of-towners like us supposed to know this? We were with a group of friends when we stopped in here. There was a wait so we were brought in the back to wait and were given menus to look at. The guys we were with immediately noticed a lot strange menu options like tofu & grilled chard (what!?) and the lack of any meat-related foods. We quickly realized the mistake we had made and ended up leaving and walking down the street to Darbys, which had no wait and was quick & delicious. We are not against people being vegetarian but perhaps that should be advertised a little more clearly? Although the atmosphere seemed fun (earthy-crunchy) we wouldn't give it another chance.

How anyone could give Chase's Daily anything less than 5 stars is criminal. Fresh farm to table food, prepared and served with the customer in mind. The food is delicious and you would only know it was vegetarian if you don't eat vegetables. One of the best things about Belfast and the farmers market in the rear is a bonus.

Great food. We'd go back in a heartbeat, and if we lived anywhere near this place, we would be regulars. We thoroughly enjoyed a lunch of Avocado/Cucumber soup, spicy Fried Rice with Vegetables and more. This is excellently done vegetarian - not meat dishes without the meat, not dishes trying to pretend to have meat, but wonderful amalgamations of fresh, flavorful, filling fare. Everything we saw looked scrumptious and I only wish we could have eaten more. The baked goods and small market at the back is a great place to pick up some extras to go. Friendly service, too. Go, regardless of what you think about vegetarian, and enjoy a great meal.

Big cavernous restaurant in an old unrestored, but interesting, storefront and it has a nice feel but isn't otherwise much to look at. The place was packed when we got there at 12:45 for lunch. The food was pretty good though I'd have to say they are forcing the envelope of healthy a little bit ingredient wise...putting kind of strange combinations together. There was a vegetable market there as well. We would return.

We were stopping through on our way up to Milbridge, ME. As this place had the most people, and decent Yelp reviews, we decided to have lunch here. Service was mediocre, food was OK, but overhyped. But maybe for this section of Maine, it's one of the better options? YES I did really like the market in the back, and the concept behind the restaurant. But I'm not sure I would be back unless I had my sister in tow, who is a vegetarian.

Best breakfast I have ever had. It really is that simple. I am no leaf peeping tourist rube either. My chard and egg sandwich (on caraway rye) was great, but the wife smartly ordered the omelette of the day. Amazing. I felt like NEO in the matrix. I have finally experienced the real world. Let me be clear, I have a CSA. I compost. My grocery of choice used to be the union square farmers market. I have pickled things. I know my s***. This place still had some things to teach me about veggies. Go to Maine. Eat here. Be warned the hours are asinine. They only actually serve dinner one day a week and breakfast two days a week. The rest of the time they have pastries and coffee. If this place had actually served food everyday, I would have eaten there everyday I was in Maine.

We come to Maine every summer and Chase's is always on our must-visit list. It's been Foodie heaven since before I knew the term Foodie. Great lattes (important for Seattle coffee-istas that we are), great baked goods, gorgeous photo-worthy organic produce in back section store area, and delicious lunch menu items. Locals and tourists alike love this place. It can be busy, crowded and noisy / echoie, so if you're hungry and cranky and the tables are already full, move along. But if your timing is right, be prepared for a treat. The lunch items are unique, interesting, and delicious. Only just today did I happen to ask my husband, "Is this place vegetarian?" because I realized two of the items we ordered (the Bahn Mi sandwhich and the curry fried rice) both had tofu rather than chicken or pork, so duh, I guess it's vegetarian; both were delicous by the way. I happen to love vegetables (as well as meat) so am somewhat amused by the other Yelpers who seem to think this is something that warrants a big disclaimer, "Warning - Vegetarian Restaurant - Beware Lack of Meat!" over the door or across the menu. A great vegetarian restaurant serves guests like myself who only eventually notice that there is no meat on the menu, because the food is great and interesting on its own, without having to resort to "Tofurky". My favorite item today was the fantastic beet salad with mixed greens, blue cheese, walnuts and a perfectly light and delicious dressing. Sorry to hear about the LA visitor who received rude / non-existent service. Belfast is a very liberal town and I have not witnessed intentional discrimination against any groups, so I have to think that it was one of those off days that restaurants sometimes have when understaffed and over-busy. Probably one of the few downsides to Chase's is that it's so popular that it can be hectic, and being more of a cafe than a high-touch restaurant atmosphere, individual attention is the one aspect that can be lacking here. Bottom line, get here early and often for delicious local, organic and unique food.

Food was so yummy... wonderful for vegetarians, and non-vegetarians alike! The coffee is AMAZING, I couldn't get enough of it. The farmers market in the summer, and the commitment to local is wonderful. We go here every year... a must-do dining experience to anyone looking for a great breakfast place in Belfast!

Chase's is inspired cooking. Friday dinners are so special, but I love to just get eggs scrambled with swiss chard. Great breads, desserts, everything is lovingly made with a rustic touch. With great art on the walls and Porto Rico coffee, you won't miss NYC for a minute.

Waited over an hour for a simple order of eggs and French toast. The food is good. This could be a great place with some attention to the customers' wait time.

The place was busy, I'll grant Chase Daily that. But the service was very slow. Slow enough that I asked my Wife to text me when the food was ready so I could take the kids out for a walk because we waited so long. The waitstaff never stopped by to refill the drinks, never stopped by to let us know how things were going. Basically ignored my Wife as she tried to ask if everything was okay in the kitchen until she could tell us that we were up next. It was about 45 minutes from ordering to be served. When we asked about the time, they said that this was typical. Aside from the long wait and not overly warm waits staff, there are some good things to say about the menu. The menu is limited, but very diverse. Lot of items looked and interesting. The menu is all veggie, no meat. The food very good. Everyone was very pleased with their order. Although, they did neglect to hold the basil from the pizza that we order. It was disappointing to wait that long and have something wrong, but at that point, we just wanted the food. Aside from the pizza goof, the food was good. As good as the food was and as much as I liked the local sourced aspect of their menu, the wait was long enough for me to not want to go back. I'll try other places in Belfast before going back again.

Chase's Daily is really a gem in the region of the coast. Fresh, local, seasonal foods are standard on their changing (vegetarian) menu - you can't go wrong with anything you order. When you want to "eat out" but still "eat local," Chase's is the answer. The atmosphere is comfortable - more upscale than most places in the area but it's still Maine, so it's not fancy. We don't go here often as it's a little pricey for dinner, but I'd rather go out to eat here once versus two or three times at any other local diner. And as others have suggested, don't miss their in-house farm market with produce from the Chase's family farm.

As far as vegetarian fare goes, Chase's offers a pretty awesome punch of flavors to suit even THIS picky carnivore's meat-lusting persuasion. My co-diner and I ordered two dishes and split them, as we are wont to do. The braised fennel pizza was astoundingly good, even of it came with sliced kalamata olives--and I didn't remember reading that on the menu. (Kalamata-haters everywhere, beware: the olives are scattered atop almost every dish served here.) The thin crust was prettying done to thin-crust perfection, and the fennel-cheese combo was an ingenious one. The size? A little bigger than a dinner plate; small but satisfying. Our other dish was the Vietnamese banh mi. This one was kind of OMG GOOD! (without the kalamatas: score!). The bread was a crusty, toasted white bread, loaded with spicy pickled vegetables. I'm not a big spice hound, but this wasn't TOO too spicy. I wouldn't have wanted it any hotter--but luckily the waitress kept refilling out water glasses. I would happily return for repeat meals.--Hey, maybe I'm even learning to like kalamata olives?! *Check out the cute produce market in the back: locally sourced, and some REALLY beautiful options. And not all usual suspects. Saw some varieties there I'd never encountered before.

Again a wonderful vegetarian meal. We shared the fried rice, ordered a side order of roasted greens and a side order of roasted root vegetables. Then we went in the back and bought beautiful produce to take home. I love Chases Daily.

Dropped by in Belfast on the way to Bar Harbor. We met up with my sister-in-law. Even though it was a weekday and past 1:30, we still had to wait half an hour. While we were waiting to be seated, we looked around their veggie market in the back. Only when we sat down t order our food, did I realize that it was a vegetarian restaurant. Now I am a BIG MEAT LOVER. The only meal that I eat without meat is breakfast. But I was really pleasantly surprised. Their food had this inexplicably elegant flavor to it. Maybe it's the fresh homegrown veggies they use. I thoroughly enjoyed their food. It was quite a pleasant surprise to see such a restaurant in Maine. They could make some improvements 1. The waiting area. As we waited to be seated, we were trying not to get in the way of other people going to and from the bathroom and the veggie store in the back. 2. The service. The waitress who waited on us made us feel rushed. Instead of trying to explain and making suggestions, when orders didn't roll off our mouth, she asked if we needed more time. It totally didn't fit with the concept of the restaurant. Otherwise, it was a pleasant experience.

Worst meal of our lives. Chase's is a bustling restaurant and has a great atmosphere so we decided to have lunch here. After we were sat, we were ignored for 15 minutes while 4 tables that were sat after us were served and their orders taken. Finally I got up to ask if we had a waitress. It then took another 5 mins. for someone to come over. We then order and then the waitress comes back to tell us everything we ordered was out and the kitchen was closing soon so there's nothing they can do about it. So we order other items on the menu (we're 30 mins. into our "meal" at this point and all we have are 2 glasses of water). 40 minutes later, we get 2 cold sandwiches. By this time, all the tables that were sat after us had already eaten, paid their checks, and left! I couldn't believe we were there for an hour and 15 mins. and our waitress never came over once after giving us 2 glasses of water. The food unfortunately was cold and unappetizing and the service, if you can believe it, was the worse I've ever experienced in my life. This was the worst meal I've ever had. Is it like this all the time? We have no idea, we were just visiting. I'm so disappointed. I'll never return and would never recommend anyone eat here.

Pros: delicious, fresh food; friendly staff; bright, airy dining room; and a welcome oasis for a vegetarian in a seafood-centric town. Also, a "farmers market" area at the back of the restaurant that is truly a feast for the senses. Cons: very slow service; hair in food. I had the omelet with swiss chard and feta -- scrumptious -- and my husband had the egg salad sandwich, which he loved. We shared a side order of wonderful greens sauteed in olive oil - tasted just like broccoli rabe, but they call them "happy rich," something I've never heard of before. I drank a homemade iced tea - a blend of Eary Gray and Peppermint, delicious - and he had what he described as the best iced mocha of his life (not a big surprise, since they use Porto Rico coffee from NYC - our personal favorite!). The farmers market in back was amazing - beautiful produce artfully displayed and reasonably priced. We got heaping handfuls of basil and cilantro; a big bag of heirloom cherry tomatoes; a couple pounds of mesclun; a pound of carrots; and a big head of purple cauliflower, for about $25. Now, the negatives... the food took about half an hour to come. We were STARVING. I wouldn't at all say this is a reason not to visit Chase's, but I'd advise against coming with an enormous appetite, as we did. Expect to wait a while. There's a communal stack of newspaper if it's morning and you don't feel like talking :) But...the hair. My husband found one in each half of his sandwich, another in our side dish, and one in my omelet. EW. We overlooked the 1st one b/c we were so hungry, and then by the time we found the others we'd eaten enough that we felt like it was too late to send anything back... but we were pretty grossed out. We said something to our waitress and she was mortified (I think her jaw literally dropped), which gives me hope that this is a rare occurrence. And they were very nice about it, comping the omelet, which was the most expensive item we'd ordered. Overall, a great experience - I just hope the hair thing was a fluke. (P.S. They only serve dinner on Fridays, and it seems like a place where there's often a line... we were seated immediately at 12:30 on a Saturday in August, but a line definitely formed over the next hour. My parents called today about going for brunch, and were told there was a wait.)

We stopped in here for dinner on a Sunday night. The place was supposed to be closed but they were doing a benefit dinner for a local soup kitchen. The food they prepared was free - just leave a donation of whatever you can afford. And that is the vibe of this place. As others have mentioned Chase's is in a single large 30 ft ceiling exposed brick walled room with a semi-open kitchen and a few bar stools. For the benefit dinner we didn't get to eat anything off the menu but judging by the quality of what they did prepare, the menu is likely excellent. Roasted winter vegetables, three kinds of soup, slaw, kale, biscuits. It was all just so damn good. We came from Camden just to eat at this place and it was well worth it.

Other Yelp reviewers lured us into downtown Belfast on our way thru to other destinations and we were glad we went. The food was excellent and not a single thing we ordered disappointed. We had the cheese plate, curry fried rice, and pasta of the day. The vegetables were really fresh and flavors were incredible. Even the coffee was good. The wait was really long at noon on a Friday, but wouldn't expect that all the time. We'll definitely go back. By the way, downtown Belfast is worth some extra time too. We had no idea it was there!!

I've never had anything here that I didn't like. The food is really fresh and vegetarian friendly. The atmosphere is funky and cozy. The waiters and waitresses are always friendly even when they're stressed. Plus, there's a market in the back where you can buy fresh baked goods and some locally grown vegetables. Chase's does get very busy on weekend mornings and the customers do tend to linger a bit so be prepared to possibly wait to be seated.

We stopped here last summer on our way up the coast, and there were so many good things on the menu, I barely noticed that it, unlike me, was vegetarian. Housed in a high ceilinged great room with cool moldings and old wood floors reminiscent of a glorious Soho artspace, the restaurant's in front by the street, bakery and kitchen in the middle and an interesting farmer's market in the rear. It's really a delightful space on a steeply inclined street in the center of this old fishing town. Textured soups, creative sandwiches, everything farm fresh or made from scratch. Classy, unpretentious service. Someone here has a sense of style and is a stickler for detail. Would succeed in any city in the country.

Eschewing largely the tired Maine standards in seafood, this essentially vegetarian restaurant is such an unexpected treat amidst so much cutesy dross aimed at bland vacationing families. You'll miss most of the crying kids here and sample some inventive cuisine - all plated beautifully and dripping with freshness. Chase's is a real ingredients-first kind of place. Speaking of . . . BEST FEATURE: in Summer, on Weds ( I think - call to check first) at noon they bring in loads of artisinal produce and sell dirt cheap. We freaked out at the glorious array of veggies and flowers and small-batch honeys.

  • M T.

I have to downgrade my review after a few experiences in the past couple of months. The food at the restaurant is still good but they have done something different with their breakfast potatoes which has made them very bland. Other than that, the food is good, if you can wait long enough without passing out from hunger. The problem is not the influx of new people waiting for tables, it is the way they are dealt with while at the tables that makes the wait so long. In any restaurant that is busy and wants to open up tables, they give you your check very soon after your meal is over (telling you that there is no hurry, of course) so that you can get your butt out of the way for the next person in line. That is not the case here. After we waited for a half hour, we noticed that some people were sitting there waiting for their check so that they could pay and leave but they had to wait for a long time before they could get out of the place. I suspect that they keep everything moving slowly by design so that the cook doesn't get too backed up, but it is still very annoying. Hiring some more kitchen help might solve some of the issue. Also, the place is so very loud that I had to raise my voice to almost shouting to speak to my husband, who was sitting less than a foot away. There were bored children crying and people trying to yell over their noise, silly parents who thought that (since the place was so noisy anyway) it would be a great idea to give their toddlers spoons to bang on the table with. We were at the restaurant for 2 hours and 27 minutes to have brunch. We order an omelet - 15 minutes to prepare, if you take your time - and pancakes - scoop, flip, and serve - so there was no excuse that we ordered something that took a while to fix. We ate very little of our food and skeedaddled quickly, since we were very tired of the place by that time and were anxious for the morning meal to be over. The atmosphere, food, service, and baked goods all left something to be lacking. Unless you are of a personality type that likes to be at a place because it seems to be hoppin' and happenin', avoid this place and go somewhere that you can get comfortable seats and some peace and quiet.

It was our first time in Belfast and my boyfriend and I were looking for a place for lunch. We came accross Chase's and immediately thought this was the place to try....such a great decision! It was a weekday during the 4th of July week and there were people waiting for tables. We didn't have to wait because a table for two opened up, and everyone else waiting had a larger party. The servers were all VERY friendly, especially ours. He explained the menu to us and answered any questions we had about the food. He let us know that the salad we ordered in addition to our entree would be out the same time as our food as they like to make them fresh and use the best ingredients they have. (Which was completely true - best salad ever). For all the people complaining about how long it took to get their food...this isn't a fast food restaurant. It's real food, picked from the farm that day, with real ingredients. We didn't have to wait long for our meals at all, by the way, and the restaurant was full. But if there had been a wait for the food, it would have been totally understandable. The entrees we got were equally as delicious as the salad- especially the soft tacos! So good! After we ate, we got some fresh produce from the back of the restaurant and left promising ourselves to return there as soon as we could. The decor of the place is also something that should be noted, as it was simple yet awesome. This place is a model of what all restaurants should aspire to be!

I love the idea of this place, and it is always at the top of my list of eateries when I'm back home for a visit. I'm not a vegetarian, but there are plenty of items on the menu to satisfy vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. As an added bonus the market in the back is a great place to pick up fresh produce, grown on the family's farm for reasonable prices. I like going for Sunday brunch and getting the breakfast burritos with tofu. They are absolutely delicious and an order comes with 2, so great for sharing for those of us with smaller appetites. As much as I love it, a couple of big issues keep me from getting there more. It is super busy and they don't take reservations for Sunday brunch, so on my most recent visit our party of 5 waited over an hour for a table. From the time we walked in the door to the time we left was a total of 3 hours. Fortunately I knew to expect this ahead of time, so we were prepared to wait. The second major issue is the noise level when it is busy and full. The acoustics are terrible in the high ceilinged old building and you have to yell to carry on a conversation and its particularly tough for a couple of my family members who are hard of hearing. Lastly, they do not give free refills in ice tea. I was glad they told me, and didn't just let me order it unknowingly and surprise me on the bill. I get it that even their ice tea is pretty special, but after 3 hours I'm going to want more than one and not pay $3 per glass. I still plan to go back again next year, but will probably steer clear of the Sunday brunch.

Seated right away, the waiter was a little spacey, the x w stilton cheese was amazing. about a half hour wait for our food to arrive. great omelette, no complaints w the food or atmosphere. just expedite your service and turn that flustered frown upside down.

I love this place and the people- only I WISH they had a website with their hours listed- it would be supremely helpful. to not drive all the way to Belfast only to discover that they are not open on Mondays.....

I admit it -- I like pork products with my breakfast. You won't find those items here and, believe it or not, I did not miss them on our first visit. It was only during our second visit that I realized, "no meat?!" I'm not a brightest bulb some mornings but, hey, I was on vacation. All in all, we thought the baked goods with coffee were the way to go. Easy place to recommend as long as you don't have a craving for bacon!

The best breakfast around. Great coffee, seasonal vegetables, great homemade toast. Beautiful space and casual atmosphere.

Yummy and friendly. Kind of seemed like Belfast's living room-- everyone had a newspaper and a cup of coffee. We got a pasta dish-- I was craving it even though I knew other menu items would have been better. It was good, not great, but it was pasta and that was my own fault. Next time we'll get the pizza or a salad. I think the 5 star reviews are still a bit over-hyped, but compared to the majority of the other meals we had in the Midcoast area, this was leaps and bounds better.

If I only I could give this place a zero, I would. I heard great things about Chase's but also heard to beware of the attitude. I was not worried though because as a resident of Los Angeles, I deal with attitude on a regular basis. But at Chase's I didn't just meet mere attitude, I met RUDE ASSHOLES. Let me walk through my experience @ Chase's to give you a taste of what is in store for you there: My husband and I walk in and found out that they are not serving lunch until 11 a.m. We decide to take a table and wait. 15 minutes go by and the tables around us begin to be served. They are provided silverware, water, menus, and even orders are taken. We still wait...and nothing. At this point, I think it is a mistake and I ask the woman at the cashier for some lunch menus. She says, "we only begin serving lunch @ 11". We both look @ the clock and it is 10:59. She realizes the stupidity of her response and hands me the menus. I return to my seat and we continue to wait as literally every single person around us is being served but us. I try to get the attention of the waitress who will not even look at us and another 15 minutes pass. They simply would not acknowledge our existence but only turned their backs. Is it racism???? Were you in a bad mood??? We begin to see that they simply do not want to serve us. It even gets to the point that the tables next to us notice we are not being served and joke that "we could join their table!". After Chase's taking a total of 45 minutes of my life without water; I proceed to the cashier again and this time let her know what happened and make sure everyone in the line hears me. She attempts to defend the waitresses but stops as my husband points out that the avoidance of us was comepletely "blatant". We leave shocked and dissapointed and hungry. I am not sure what was going on that day or why the waitresses decided to victimize us as eager customers but I know I am not the only one with this experience. That said, I know that the attitude at this place was something I had not experienced in Maine before and I was dissapointed. As a restaurant that obviously tries to present itself as a place of local community; it was anything but. You may have local produce but you lack the hospitality and welcoming attitude that is so vital for a vibrant local food community to exist. I won't be back and won't recommend this place to anyone I know.

I grew up in this area but have since moved to Boston and this is a place that I get excited about going home to! The atmosphere is casual and comfortable but also fun. A lot of people come in and out and it's a great spot to meet up. First of all, I dream about their baked goods. If you haven't tried their pear almond muffin or lemon raspberry muffin, you haven't lived. Hands down best muffins I have ever had. Their breads are delicious as well, but you have to get in early before they sell out. The vegetarian fare is delicious and the menu has a little something for everyone. Although I am not vegetarian, I have enjoyed every dish I have tried and especially love their seasonal salads and creative pizzas. Sunday brunch has a nice array from spicy soft tacos to oatmeal and breakfast burritos and their soups are quite excellent as well. All around warm atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing bakery goods (grab a strawberry tart after lunch!) and delicious fare. And the market place in the back has some of the most exquisite produce I have ever seen. Absolutely beautiful and always the freshest. Such a delightful spot!

A family-run, true farm-to-fork establishment and THE standard by which any Maine eatery should strive to. As far as we've seen and this spot could set the watermark for what Belfast could be foodie-wise one day. Now if only the town C of C can rally and promote this slice of eclectic slice of Haight Street in mid coast ME. The baked goods? Amazing. The Sunday brunch? Not to miss and if ever a place was worth a wait. Just check ahead for the unusual dining schedule (Dinner only night a week) Do yourself a favor, skirt Rte 1 and enjoy the arty calm of Belfast. Who needs Greenwich/Newport, North (a/k/a Camden)?

We really wanted to love Chase's Daily. It's got a lot going for it. Great idea, great ethos, great space. Love the farm to fork idea. Unfortunately the food and service in the restaurant fell very short. We arrived at lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was pretty busy but it wasn't that busy. The primary disappointment was the food. Both of our dishes were uninspired to say the least. Our appetizer was a crostini with white beans and fresh tomatoes. The tomatoes were delicious and the bread was ok but the white beans were a flavorless, chalky lump. We also had a burrito - it was a little better but definitely lacked the proper seasoning and didn't seam to be well thought out. The service was very inattentive. Failure to greet multiple guests resulted in a big mix up on a seating list that no one knew about. A woman in front of us was seated without the other 3 people in her party of four (who didn't arrive to order until after we finished our meal). Slow is fine but forgetting specific requests multiple times after food has arrived is another. Chase's daily has a lot of potential. We'll be back in the hopes that we just hit a bad day. I hope it's better next time. I suspect there are better things on the menu. I bet the salads are great. It's definitely a welcome respite from the fried seafood stalls. Also, the farmers market vegetables in the back were great and we had a good molasses cookie.

Arrived at 9:45 am for breakfast and was dismissively told that there was a 45 minute wait and that they were not taking anymore names for breakfast because they wanted to switch to lunch. It looked like a nice place, but felt very exclusionary.

If I lived in Belfast I would eat here at least once a week and every night I would dream of the pancakes. It's close to my ideal restaurant. If only they'd make Chocolate Cork like Standard Bakery in Portland.

Stopped in Belfast on the way to Acadia and found a great surprise in Chase's for lunch! Fresh, delicious ingredients for a family of vegetarians!

This was the best meal I've ever had in such hellish conditions. 90 degree heat, full humidity. It felt tropical. NO AC. None. Great food, great staff. A bit pricy. Best salad I've ever eaten. Anywhere. I live in NYC. Get some AC. Please!

Chase's has THE BEST pancakes I have ever eaten. Perfect consistency. Not a flavourless fluffy sponge, yet not too dense either. And, unlike most pancakes, which absorb syrup yet somehow fail to taste sweet (despite repeated additions of syrup as the meal progresses), these hold syrup and even a small amount of syrup is detectable. I have been here for breakfast twice in 3 years (I live 500 km away) and on both occasions the service was cheerful, friendly and helpful.

The freshest best local farm food served up in untypical combinations. Really creative, beautiful food in a wonderful building. Just love the creak of that screen door.. And the baked goods are superb, get there early....in the back are pails full of the same produce and herbs and flowers to buy and take home. Every year we come to Camden and we cannot wait to come to Chase's.

Breakfast: No table service. You order at the counter and seat yourself like a coffeehouse. Breakfast is limited to muffins and beverages. I had a nice blueberry Muffin and equally good iced chai. Chases is beautifully decorated in warm woods , exposed brick and hip artwork. See pics. The best is they are Organic and they own their own farm. Worth a stop in Belfast

Vegetarian, yup, and amazing. This place is great, they own their own farm, it doesn't get any more local than that. Chances are a member of the Chase family is taking your order or searing your or filling your water glass. If you can get there for a Friday night dinner you should make that happen. My wife and I plan our vacations around it. The breakfast is wonderful as well, especially the blueberry pancakes. But the highlight of all is the farm market at the back of the restaurant. I've never seen more beautiful produce, I wish I could take it all home. Their baked goods are also spectacular. I could eat their pear/almond muffin everyday and never get sick of it. So if you need meat to call it a meal you're not going to be happy but if you understand what it takes to highlight vegetables and not overpower them, you're going to love this place.

Loved the walnut scone with raspberry filling that I had for breakfast this morning. Can't wait to go back and try some other things!

Inventively wonderful farm fresh food! Creative combinations of ingredients make for a unique dining experience. The baked goods are terrific, too, and the farmers' market in back provides an opportunity to take home some of the finest produce. NB - Chase's is very popular and they turn tables at their own pace. So leave your city angst at home when you're told there's a long wait. Converse with your dining companions, peruse the menu, explore the market. But don't complain in your review that you had to wait. It will be well worth it.

Very fresh food. Excellent farm to table place. Probably the best organic restaurant I have been to other than California. Friendly staff, rocking busy kitchen, wonderful high paced energy. The lentil soup... the best I ever had. Nice salads. Will not miss a chance to have a meal there whenever I am back in Belfast, ME.

Fantastic! Farm fresh local veggies galore served many tasty ways. My wife and I started off by each having a glass of a very nice vino verde for $4( what a steal) but then our paths diverged. She went with the rice and beans. More a deconstructed burrito than anything else. A heaping pile of perfect brown rice surrounded by all of the filings of a burrito sans tortilla, separated to mix and match. Refrained beens picketed veggies, this plate had it all. For my meal I went with the yellow curry. Think Thai rather than Indian. Bok choy, sliced lime, fresh peas and beautifully fried tofu. I lost my head for a moment and forgot that my meal had no pork-fat. You see chase's is technically a vegetarian restaurant, but the foods so good even a bacon loving carnivore might not notice.

Holy crap. What a pleasure of a meal. I live in LA and this spot makes the farm to table restaurants out there look like amateur hour. The Mexican torta sandwich was quite possibly the best sandwich I've ever had. It doesn't matter whether or not you're a vegetarian. You will be happy with whatever you eat here.

Stopped in Belfast and fell in love with this place! Traveling all the way from Asheville NC, we have a huge appreciation for how they do business. Straight up great ingredients that are cooked and served by people who get it. Thanks for doing what you do... From NC to ME.

Stopped here after reading reviews in Local magazine. Ordered margherita pizza and roasted beet salad as well as chai and ginger beer. Portions were reasonable but not huge and food was good but a bit pricey. Everything local and fresh. Would recommend!

We were sat at our table and had chosen our breakfast quite quickly, and put our menus at the edge of the table. It took our server 20 minutes to acknowledge us, and 10 more before we could place our order. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time like 15 minutes or so and looked beautiful. I ordered the breakfast burrito. Sadly it mostly tasted like potato and was blan. I would have asked for hot sauce or something to spice it up but we had to take our food to go as by the time the food hit the table it had been almost an hour of waiting for breakfast. Thankfully the host dropped off coffee while we waited.

The staff was exceedingly kind and considerate. We have a 13 week old and they put us somewhere warm and were sure to make us feel welcome with a baby. Their bread is tasty and fresh. The espresso was well made. Full and smokey without too much acidity.

Wow amazing place! I came here for the first time today and was blown away! Incredible vegan meals, an amazing array of breads & cheeses for sale, and a stunning farmer's market, all in one place! Definitely worth the stop! :)

Really bad service. I thought it was just me but now that I have read other reviews I know that's not true. I had heard such good things about the food and atmosphere but I wouldn't recommend this place. Six months after going there the rude attitude there still sticks with me.

Great food and friendly service! It's wonderful to have a place that caters to vegetarians and makes it such a tasty experience. I've never had unfriendly service at Chase's, but it does attract a lot of grumpy tourists so watch out for them on the busy days!

This weekend was our first visit since last September's 2-star experience, and they won me (and my wife, and mother-in-law) back. (My 4-year-old loves it no matter what.) Saturday of Labor Day weekend, we showed up just ahead of the lunch rush and were seated immediately. EXTREMELY friendly and knowledgeable waiter shows up and takes drink orders. We order soups and entrees, and the soups come out pretty quickly. A spicy dal soup was exquisite, as was the gazpacho. Then, to my amazement and eternal happiness, the lunches came out not too long after the soups had been cleared! Oh, and they were fantastic! (Tofu curry fried rice; black beans and rice; soft tacos.) All four of us joined the Clean Plate Club. Because it was a day of miracles and wonders, the menu had a bunch of new stuff on it, too. Afterwards, we couldn't stop talking about how much better it was this time than the last time. Phew; it's now safe to go back to Chase's.

We had heard such good things about this restaurant. So, we were shocked when we went there for breakfast and found not only very little for someone eating a healthy plant-based diet.....but, what we could get was the worst. We ordered the only choice for us on the menu (potatoes) and they were not even edible. The waitress told us that the cook was new, but the plate we got was full of what looked like something that was scraped off the grill while cleaning it. Burned little itsy bitsy pieces of greasy potato. We have since had friends offer to take us there and treat us, but have declined after that experience.

All New England coastal towns should have a place this good. Chase's Daily is a combination restaurant, farmer's market, and cheese/bread counter. We wandered around town and eventually came upon this place with a line of people waiting for a table. On our first trip we ate at the counter since the table wait was too long. On the second trip we had a nice table in the main eating area - there is a wait so put your name in and hold your drool. The food has great fresh vegetables and well done hot drinks and pizzas. The apple and cheese appetizer is refreshing. The pizza is satisfying. The banh mi...what..a a Vietnamese sandwich in Maine...yes, wonderful with a twist of avocado and tofu. Chase's Daily in Belfast is a great place to visit for lunch and walk around town with the street Museum bicycles.

Belfast can be or seem boho or casual. There is a hippy vibe that runs through the town. A coop, a green store before green was cool havee been there for years. At Chases its the same feel. The wait staff have a its summer let it flow freely look. No hi my name is eugene or camille i will be your server today. Yeah yeah its vegie but so what. Theu make a beet salad with blue cheese that is awesome. White bean mash with grilled onions. Amazing. Wooden tables wooden floors old grange hall feel. Whats not to love. So what if you have to wait or service is slow. Stop and taste the food, enjoy the people show and forget about your digital addiction. Its a groovy place

Be warned you can be in for a long wait for a table at Chase's. If you are planning on eating lunch, I suggest going on the earlier side. The food is all fresh! Carnivores be warned, Chase's serves a vegetarian menu. Don't go expecting steak. I had some excellent asparagus pizza for lunch, in addition to an fantastic chai. One of my favorite aspects of the restaurant are the beautiful, high, tin ceilings. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Belfast. They accept credit cards for payment.
