We stopped here on a Saturday at 6pm on our way to Booth Bay Harbor. It was a great idea. This place is really close to Rt. 1 and the pizza is great. We got pepperoni and white clam pies. The garlic knots and Greek salad were also pretty good. Service was fast. Plenty of tables at that time. No credit cards and you order at the counter. The place didn't seem as dirty as I expected after reading the other reviews.

I grew up on Cabin pizza and cheese steaks. They make the best pizza I have ever had. I'm not sure what the difference is, but I have yet to find any other pizza I like as well. We moved 3 hours away for a few years and when we moved back to the area we went and had a Cabin pizza to make sure we were right about what we remembered. We were! It's still the best.

I've been to the Cabin 3 times and each time has left me just a bit more disappointed. The food is greasy and makes you feel bloated. I had the single worst pizza in my entire life here. Do not and I repeat DO NOT eat the spicy thai pizzia.

Amazing Pizza! If you like feta etc, definitely try the Greek Pizza. I also usually order a side salad and the bleu cheese dressing is amazing! One of the best places to eat in the area!

It is right across the street from Bath Iron Works. It has small windows and a dark entrance. I wrongly assumed this was an iron worker/ship builder enclave where I might get my ass kicked for not knowing the union handshake. I did get my ass kicked, but by the awesome pizza! I had visions of Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze. I was very wrong about the clientele. I know people that work at BIW, yet I still have this image of iron workers always needing to kick someone's ass? The Cabin is a great family pizza joint that lives up to its claim: " The only real pizza in Maine." Ordering is a little odd for dining in. You go to the cashier and tell them what you want, drinks too, pay, and then someone yells your name when the pie is done to deliver to your table. Most of their draft beers are commodity, but they did have Pemaquid Point Ale on draft. The bottled beer selection is great. There is a big parking lot and ample space within. The inside has a number of rooms to sit in with rustic wood benches and booths. There is even a place outside if the bugs aren't bad. NO CREDIT CARDS- BRING CASH!

I am in agreement. This Bath, ME staple has some of the best pizza that i have ever tasted, and im really missing it now that I am back on the west coast. Havent had a piece in about 5 years now! If you live in Maine you MUST try the cabin!

The Cabin has great pizza, and great steak and cheese. I recommend either. They don't get five stars because the place is kind of dim inside and nothing special for atmosphere.

This place was a neat find on yelp and not very far from home. I love the atmosphere they created, with wooden high back benches and lots of lantern style lighting. The temperature was a bit too warm, but they did have some fans The staff were quick to answer questions about the menu. There is plenty of seating and the meals will be served to your table, but all orders are placed at the counter. They also kept up with the high demand for takeout and delivery. They are a cash or check only business. They offer lots of subs, Italian fare, beer, wine and salad. They also don't have a fryalator, so all apps are premade and baked to crispness. We got two small pizzas, the shrimp alfredo and the sweet and spicy with chicken and pineapple. They hand spin all the dough and possibly make it there. It was soft and moist with a touch of crunchy and sweetness. The shrimp pizza was too crispy for my liking, to which I assume they had to ensure the shrimp were well cooked. The shrimp pizza had a delightful creamy and garlicy sauce, but not nearly enough shrimp as I would like. The sweet and spicy sauce pizza was out of this world. It was well balanced and my new favorite.

I was vacationing in the area and my kids were craving pizza one day, so we tried this place based on the positive reviews. The pizza is alright. The crust is thinner than your basic franchise pizza shops, but not crispy. The sauce was good also. The chicken fingers were ok also, but came out with bbq dipping sauce. I would prefer blue cheese or ranch. The real highlight was the dough knots. They came in a bath of olive oil and minced garlic with a tasty bowl of sauce to dip in. My kids loved them and so did I! They don't take credit card, which I understand, but come on...I don't care that you have an ATM for my convenience. The ordering process is unconventional....you walk in and order what you want and pay for it and then go grab a seat. For the out of towner with kids who might have been at the beach all day in the sun, it makes for a complicated process. Unfortunately, a process that I don't intend to go through again when I'm in town.

My husband loves their pizza more than any other in the area. I agree (although they're a little saucy for me). Their dough knots are amazing, and I love their shaved chicken sandwiches with peppers and onions. A great local place with reasonable prices!

This place is THE BEST for pizza in mid-coast Maine. Toppings are fantastic and the crust is thin. I've been coming here since I was a kid - LOVE IT here!

Pizza and prices are great! The atmosphere is great as well. Enjoyed dinner with the family!

I find the darkness inside to be a bit much- I have trouble seeing, takes a while for my eyes to adjust, but otherwise the food is fantastic! I love the dough knots and white pizza in particular! Mmm!

Cozy, dark pizza and pasta joint - with a big time need for AC (management should consider window AC units in the summer; it gets a little stifling at times). They do, however, have outdoor seating, but then you've got the bug issues. Oh well! The food however, is really good! The dough knots in garlic were tasty, served with a side of their thick red sauce. Next time I'll ask for a bit more garlic and oil on it. Salad was super crisp, with high quality ingredients - loved it! The pizza was really top notch; no oil on the paper plates, the sign of high quality cheese. The crust is thin and perfectly crunchy, absolutely dead on correct for a pizza. We all loved it (kids too) and we will absolutely be back!

We stopped here on the way home to Boston. Its right off the highway, easy to get to, and they have a parking lot. You order at the counter and they bring your pizza to your table. No waiters. They gave us chilled mugs and pointed to a spring water machine. I loved it. Great for kids, easy, no waiting around for a server. We tried out the sweet and spicy sauce. I didn't love it. Too sweet for me. Its pizza though, so we ate it! The interior of the restaurant could use some love. The seat of the booth we sat in fell backward when we sat down. Luckily we stopped it. Didn't feel safe (or relaxing) at all. The radiator under our table was so so filthy, with old napkins tucked into it. Really was gross. I would go back; I wouldn't look under the table again or sit in the same booth.

Great atmosphere, great pizza. A proper pizza joint; dimly lit, carved up tables, cozy, friendly staff.

  • Kelly B.

It is so upsetting the food is so good but the service sucks! No one greets you even if you are standing in front of them waiting to be seating, all 3 times I've gone they have given my food away to someone else. Will not go here again.

Loving the new plates and the ability to have a tab. All new! Keeping us at our seats and drinking more. :)

I'm from NY so I am very picky about pizza but the cabin does a great job in satisfying with great pizza!!! The garlic knots are Delish! They don't last for very long, we devour them as soon as they are brought to us. Our favorite is the white pizza and pepperoni pizza. The place is dark, cozy, with dark wood interior. They also have a 28' pizza, which has been great when we have gone with our entire family of more than 10. You place your order with the cashier. They do not come to your table and take your order but will bring out your food to you. We don't mind that at all. They only take cash but have an atm inside the restaurant in case you don't have any. Only negative is during the winter it can be cold inside while you eat. Whenever we want pizza, The Cabin is where we go!

Hit this place last summer. Shared a Calamari Pizza and a pitcher of beer with friends. Food quality is good and cold beer really hit the spot! Decent booth style seating and relaxed feel. I would highly recommend this place if your looking for good pizza in Bath.

Great pizza. The pesto pizza is awesome. Comfortable family atmosphere. We will definitely return anytime we are in Bath.

My wife and I walked in on a hot August Tuesday night. Sat down in the main dining area and almost tipped over the table. No one waited on us, didn't realize it was an order and serve joint. Would have been nice for one of the staff to let us know. Another customer went by and pointed out the outside tables where it was a lot cooler. Then I saw we had to order. After that rough start every thing else was great. We ordered the small veggie pizza and the beer battered broccoli fries, and some beer and wine. Pizza and broccoli was awesome. Pizza was loaded with what seemed like fresh veggies. Small pie was just the right size for two. A local couple sat down at next table and struck up a conversation. He suggested the Shrimp Scampi pizza next time which I will definitely try.

Is the pizza at The Cabin the best in Maine? No. Is The Cabin a great meetup spot, where you can get cheap pitchers of beer in a classic neighborhood porthole? Yes. If you're from Bath or the mid-coast, you already know what I'm talking about. If you're a tourist, know what you're getting into: Cash-only, friendly service, no table service, dark intimate interior. Lunch time feels different than dinner time, only because the clientele is different--no better or worse--but at lunch it's the BIW guys, Navy guys that are shoving the great clam pizzas and sandwiches down. At dinner, you're more likely to see the local take-out customer, summer tourist, or group of friends. Go, but bring your bills.

  • Kurt J.

The Cabin has good pizza. I do believe this place is more hype than substance but that's okay. The Carnivore is the route to go if you ask me. Also, the garlic knots are worth getting. The Cabin doesn't accept credit or debit cards, which I think is a big fault.

    (3)
  • Joe D.

We really like the pizza and it's definitely a family friendly atmosphere. I've only ever had the pizza. I'd probably go 4 stars if it wasn't for the usual long waits and cash or local check policy, seriously, who does either anymore?!?!

    (3)
  • Chris M.

Worse than any frozen pizza on the market. Insult to injury? They charge more than any pizza place I've been to. For better pizza, may I direct you to the frozen foods section of your local supermarket? For superior pizza, go to Flipside on Maine St in Brunswick. There are also a number of places in Portland. All of these make the pizza from The Cabin look like playdoh with ketchup and mozzarella... And then charge you $20... In cash. Really sad efforts. While the playdoh comment is an exaggeration, the frozen pizza comment is not. If you can't churn out better pizza than frozen, please stop. Just stop. You make Pizza Hut look Italian. And they're originally from Texas.

I can't imagine finding better pizza anywhere in Maine. If you're in Bath and the thought of another lobster roll makes you ill, head to the Cabin. The pizza is tasty and well priced. Crispy, crispy crust and tasty toppings. Great local feel (due to being down the street from Bath Ironworks and next door to the Navy buildings), friendly staff, and a cash only policy makes The Cabin is a place you want to throw an extra dollar or two in the tip jar, especially on a chilly and rainy afternoon or afternoon in downtown Bath. Ugh!

Had takeout from here last night. God the Nor'easter, which is a white pizza with canadian bacon and tomatoes. Definitely a competent pizza, and worth eating again. But, nothing memorable about it. Crust was good, but not spectacular. Topping combo was also good, but nothing above-and-beyond. The place looked really cute when I walked in to pick up the food -- like a place I'd love to visit with my wife when we get time.

Who would have thought that Bath Maine would have some of the best pizza's on the East coast? It is mighty fine grub.

this is a Bath institution and has been a tradition on our yearly summer trips to maine. this is seriously great pizza. great atmosphere too and feels very rustic. the service is not quick by any means but you get what you wait for. only a 20-30 minute drive from our place.

Are you in Bath for the first time, or the 100th time? Hie thee to The Cabin. Seriously. There's no reason for you to not be there. Also, get you some cash, 'cause they don't take anything but. I've been a HUGE fan of The Cabin since I was a little kid. It's a little off the beaten path and frequented by Bath Iron Works employees. If it's good enough for the BIW folks, it's good enough for me. Their pizza is exemplary. I've literally been coming here my whole life and I've never had better pizza north of Boston (does Regina's count as "just pizza," though? If not, then The Cabin's pizza is the best ever). This is a place we stop after a long day on the boat, or shopping, or whatever. If you have a hankering for pizza, hit The Cabin. The atmosphere is wonderful, if a tiny bit dimly-lit. Beer selection is pretty good, and the staff are great. It's nice to be from away but have the folks in this establishment treat you like you're their next-door neighbor.

Once you let your eyes adjust to the interior of The Cabin, you see that it takes on the air of the inside of an old ship, with wooden panels on the wall and several small rooms where you can sit comfortably with your group. Since the times I have gone have been in groups of 6 or more, we have usually found a private room, which is really nice. There is a wide variety of pizza, and as is customary of a pizza restaurant, you have the option to build your own pie or select one with pre-determined toppings. The beer selection is OK, and for the non-beer drinkers like myself they also have Twisted Tea, but that's about it. When the pizza comes out, you can tell that the pies are fresh and fairly good considering the other alternatives available in the area. However, I found it rather wanting as far as flavor and seasoning went, although that may have something to do with the fact that I am not accustomed to the way foods are seasoned in New England. Once I put a little more Parmesan, Oregano, and pepper flakes on my pizza it was more enjoyable, although to me a good pizza doesn't need extra seasoning to make it more palatable. However, if you enjoy low-sodium foods, then by all means try the pizza. It is an interesting atmosphere, just make sure you stop by the bank on your way over because it is cash only. Although it can be a bit more work to get actual money to pay for a meal, the cash only policy further adds to the air of nostalgia that the building affords. Ahoy!

This is my go-to pizza place when I've got a big group of friends. They have a pretty decent selection of various pizzas and the large portions encourage lots of eating. Their white garlic sauce is a must, and I would definitely recommend throwing on some pepper flakes and parmesan to give the pizza an extra kick.

Oh Cabin, My Cabin. Where do I begin?? I grew up in Bath, which means I grew up eating pizza from the Cabin. I remember it back before the additional room was built. It was always considered the best pizza around. I have lived away from Bath for a few years, but still made occasional trips back and always made a point to stop here. Recently moved back to Bath, and its still my favorite! Get the dough knots. Get them. Knots of fresh delicious bread, soaked in olive oil, garlic, and herbs, and served with a yummy marinara dipping sauce. Best thing EVER! And my favorite specialty pizza? The Noreaster. White pizza with ham, tomato, and feta. OMG! I want to try the other specialty pizzas, I really do. But I end up ordering this one every time. Some day.... Oh Cabin, I love you so! P.S.they don't take credit cards...but do have an ATM inside. Bring cash.

Tasty. The crust was both crisp and thick. Good beer selection Warning: the sweet and spicy sauce is not a red sauce and was too sweet for our taste, but it seems obvious the red sauce would have been good.

Very very good pizza and beer at reasonable prices. IIRC, no credit cards accepted but they have an ATM inside.

I was hooked by the kitchen aroma when I opened the front door. Just went for the second night in a row. Can't make it three because we head back to Southern California tomorrow. Highly recommend The Cabin Restaurant. Excellent, as advertised (a local also recommended it). Order at the counter, then they bring your food to you. I'm Italian (Sicilian) and this is worth a stop. Near the shipyards, so not in the glamorous and boutique part of Bath, but once inside it doesn't matter. Only problem was they don't sell their tee shirts, which I wanted to proudly wear back home!

  • Mark E.

I can only describe this place as interesting. If this is the best pizza in mid-coast then I feel sorry for everyone living here. Not terrible but the best comparison I could give is the pizza is a step up from Domino's or Papa John's. Ordered a submarine sandwich and the quality of the meat was low. However, I would recommend the dough knots as that and the Pemaquid Ale were the highlights. Thought service was OK but I think there may have only been 3 or 4 other tables so a quiet night.

Great place! The Pizza was amazing! We plan on going back and trying more of the menu. We popped in late just 30 minutes before coming in on a Tuesday. The staff was very friendly and served us very quickly!

I tried the BLT, which was delicious and prepared quickly. Staff was attentive and restaurant vibe was good. I went for lunch but it seemed like it would be a fun place for dinner or drinks also.

  • Oliver P.

The pizza was vert tasty. The sauce was amazing and the toppings (artichokes, onions, and mushrooms) were fresh and well-done. My wife and I liked the crust, but my daughter, raised on the thin crusts of Philadelphia, thought it was too thick. It took a while to get our food. Beer seemed pricey.

Love love love this place! I've been eating here since I was a kid and the pizza is always fantastic. Great crust, tangy sauce and a huge variety of toppings. (Full disclosure: I lived in nyc for years and consider myself quite the pizza snob.) And they always have yummy beer as well. Highly recommended for eat in or take out!

I first visited the Cabin in the mid '70s and every summer from then through 1980, as I was working at a summer camp in the area. A few years later I drove to Maine from Maryland- and back again - just for the pizza. It was that memorable. This summer my family will visit Maine for the first time in over 20 years. The Cabin will not be missed. "Nuff said.

Pizza in Maine. Can it really be done? yes this was adequate 'za... and probably worth trying again. There was beer and fried pickles (they claimed baked? could that really be?). Dive bar type atmosphere. Good not great, far better than the kitchen nightmares in most other locations nearby.

Some great pizza. Stopped in on our way back to NH after reading the good reviews. Have three or four different pizza sauces. We did the garlic sauce with chicken as the topping and it was awesome

The best 'za north of Portland, don't be put off by the building or dark interior, these guys know pizza and that's why they've been a staple in bath forever!

  • David V.

Their pizza box claims that they're "the only real pizza in Maine", and I believe it. Maine is known for many delicious foods, but generally pizza is not one of them. Whenever I'm up in the Bath area, which usually amounts to several times a year, I always make time for a visit to The Cabin. The pizza itself is offered with several difference sauces, which I'm very grateful for as a non-tomato eater. The white garlic sauce is pretty amazing, and I believe they've got a pesto as well. There's a large selection of toppings, and they're extremely generous when it comes to applying those toppings onto the pie itself. The beer selection is respectable too - a combination of cheap yellow beers, local microbrews, plus a few interesting imports. I was able to get a Fuller's ESB, an English beer that you usually only see at beer specialty bars and English/Irish pubs. Even better, it was only $3.25 a bottle! In Boston this is a $6 bottle of beer, easily. The atmosphere is very cozy as well - very much like a ship with dark wood, lots of small rooms and cozy corners and low ceilings.

  • Paul G.

A dark interior...dark wood and lighting. Kinda dingy but the pizza is the best around. Nice, thin crust pizza. Try the pesto, Kalamata olive and artichoke pizza, the ham and pineapple, or just a plain mushroom and cheese. Good pizza. Roast beef sub with onions and cheese is a winner. Off street parking...bring cash or there is an ATM inside. No credit cards. A local Bath favorite.

Found this little gem on my first trip to Bath a few years ago and now it's become a tradition every time I visit Maine. First of all, the decor is AMAZING! It's dark inside, full of dark wood and beautiful ship paintings. I love, love, LOVE the ambiance. Second, the food is pretty darn good! The dough knots are so yummy! So is the shrimp pizza. I can't get enough of this place. I really look forward to coming here every year. Keep up the good work guys! Hope to see you again in 2015!
