If you love burgers, and who doesn't, this place is great. The food is very good, and the price is affordable. While I think Elevation has better burgers Five Guys has far superior fries. Not really a fan of the peanuts all over either. If you are Bangor, why eat at the mall? Five Guys is just up the street.

Delicious burgers and homemade fries. Make sure you ask for a small size, or you'll be neck deep in them. Excellent fast food.

My husband and I got into Bangor after a 4 hour drive, and wanted some quick, decent takeout before collapsing for the night at our campsite. We decided to try Five Guys. It was a Tuesday evening, about 7:30. There were about four other couples in the restaurant, no line. The counter staff were friendly, the restaurant was clean, and our food was ready in about 10 minutes. The burgers were very good. Juicy (greasy?), hot, and covered with the toppings of our choice. Nice that none of the toppings cost extra. Grilled mushrooms and grilled onions are nice options not often found at fast food chains. My husband considered ordering large fries, but the order staff advised him not to, because of the "bag fries". That's kind of weird, throwing what amounts to another order of fries into the bag! Still, fries are my favourite fast food, and these were cooked exactly as I like, so you'd think I would be very happy about extra fries. Very happy indeed. However, I was not. Sadly, the fries were way-over-the-top salty. Beyond salty. Saltysaltysalty. Even my husband, who adds salt to everything, said "saltwater would be less salty". Ruined otherwise perfect fries. :( My only other complaint would be the lack of shakes. A personal preference, perhaps, but to my mind, a good burger and fries begs for a milkshake. I would go to Five Guys again. Maybe the saltiness was just a fluke?

Great meal. The line moved very fast, we had about 20 people ahead of us when we walked in, and we had our food within 15 minutes.

Went today for the first time, well at 2:30 they were out of hamburger buns. I mean for real? They are a burger place. So I waited 10min just so I could leave. Will not go back.

My friends and I went on a busy Saturday evening around five. Yes, we're masochists. The line to order was out the door. The people waiting for their dinner was just as massive. I figured it would be an hour at least to get my food, and wouldn't have been in the least surprised if it was cold when I got it. But I was pleasantly surprised, I have to admit. The line to order moved along at a good clip, and ordering was easy and caters to customization with tons of add ons to choose from. There were no tables available, but we descended on one when it was vacated, and continued to wait for our food, but when I looked at the time, I was surprised to realize that we had ordered and had our food inside of 30 minutes, which is better than a lot of sit-down restaurants. The portions are enormous. The burger was EXCELLENT, as were the fries. I would suggest that one person order a small. I ordered a regular and couldn't finish them. They give you your order and then throw more into the bottom of the bag, so you end up with an order and a half. Yes, it's loud. And crowded. And bad for you fast food. I wouldn't suggest anyone have a stead diet of it, but I'll take it over McD's or Burger King every time.

I can't believe that anybody would give a fast food restaurant five stars! Don't people have any standards? All beef hamburgers (means all beef high fat No Lean) tasting like just about every 1/4 inch thick burger made on a grill at greasy spoon stands all around the country. The rolls are just plain old white bread with sesame seeds, not even toasted. The bacon is precooked just to the point of being burned. Think nitrosamines, cancer causing carcinogens produced by over cooking bacon. There is a large selection of toppings, which seem nice and fresh. The place is LOUD, high volume music and shouting at pickup counter. Want a better burger? Go to Long Horn, Texas Roadhouse, Chilli's or Ruby Tuesday's. They make decent, thick and juicy chain restaurant burgers with fresh veggies on better quality rolls. Five Guys french fries are greasy and like so-so fair food. Wendy's, Micky D's and Burger King have better fries. For better burgers and fries ( some of the best fries in Bangor) go the Governor's, get water and a drink, fresh veggies on the burger and a side of slaw all for around the same $20.00 spent at at five guys and your money stays in Maine with a Maine company.

The Cheeseburger with everything is fantastic! You only need to order the small fries. Trust me, you get a lot of fries. The regular size is enough to feed three people! Great staff, very friendly.

Quite the experience. Come early or plan to stay late. The fries are worth the wait.

Yummy food, but huge portions. If you want fries a regular size is enough for three people. The Cajun fries are yummy, with a nice bite to them. The grilled onions on the burger were a bit to big, but all the other toppings were delicious. Order on-line to skip the wait, and your fries still get made fresh.
