(05/09/2012) Have only ever used Z&G for low budget company events. Price is right, usually around $29/head for continental breakfast, coffee all day, hot buffet lunch. Also, they're one-stop shopping if you're doing a business meeting or conference (AV/tech/supplies), so they're convenient. Food meets expectations (expectations were similar to the workplace cafeteria). Standard dry banquet chicken breast with a strange fried-then-sauced soggy coating, but actually did like the few shreds of sauteed artichoke, might've found a cube of mushroom or two. The salad was the hit of the day; vinaigrette was sweet tart flavorful, accented with salty feta cheese nuggets and chewy sweet dried cranberries, but heavily dressed. Chose cheese tortellini with pesto as a meatless entree; pesto seemed to have been made with dried basil instead of fresh. Vegetables were plain, dressed with butter substitute; roasted potatoes were just that, but liked the mix of sweet and starchy potatoes. Staff are always very accommodating, willing to help troubleshoot, very nice and polite. The venues we get always seem to have the same 2 catering options, and we alternate between the two depending on pricing, so will probably end up with these guys again eventually.

There is no way that I could thank this company enough or recommend them highly enough. They are AMAZING! For my April 2014 wedding, I had a budget and they worked with it and gave me options rather than eye rolls. They provided amazing food including customized items that they had not previously made. I have since received many compliments that it was the BEST wedding food that many of our guests had ever had. Without a wedding planner and no prior experience doing such, I gained valuable advice from Monroe in every aspect of my arrangements. He was very diplomatic in all of his suggestions. At one point during our reception it became clear that the guests could not hear the band's announcement for upcoming toasts, so Monroe personally went to each table to pass it on.

This is the worst catering company ever! They are so rude and are completely racist. Stay away from them . One of their workers yanked out the sound system because DJ had his turn table on their table and they were ready to pack up . They completely ruined my event. All they care about is money . I should have gone with putting with the ritz. I never leave bad reviews anywhere but I had to on this one . They completely suck. Don't make the mistake I made.

Matt Gold is awesome! Which we heard a lot whenever we told people who we chose as a caterer and we completely agree! This is a 3rd generation family business, priced very fairly for the quality of food and service, service both before and during the wedding was fantastic, food was absolutely wonderful, set up was impeccable, they arrived early the day of, packed a to go bag for my husband and I so we would have dinner, completely custom menu (and they provide suggestions if needed), they are very familiar with The Cloisters Castle in Hunt Valley, Matt helped to drastically reduce both my Mom's and my stress regarding the planning of it all...I could go on. Suffice it to say, if you are looking for a caterer in the greater Baltimore area, I highly recommend considering Z&G!

Working with Iris and the team at Zeffert and Gold was one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding. Our goal was to have a warm, elegant wedding with tasty food and wonderful service. Did I mention we also wanted to stay within budget? Finding Iris and her team was like taking a breath of fresh air. The people we met at Z&G really cared about us and wanted to make sure everything was perfect. Iris was always two steps ahead and made sure even the smallest details were taken care of. She kept in contact with us in the days and weeks leading up to the wedding, and on the day of everything went off without a hitch. Our guests loved the food and the presentation was worthy of a 5-star restaurant. Our family and friends felt like VIPs and had so many wonderful things to say. We asked for a special family recipe to be included at one of the stations and it was absolutely perfect, just like my great-grandmother used to make. I would not hesitate to recommend Z&G to any of my friends.

Very good food from a truly great company. The people are what makes them super special. I have worked directly with Monroe Zeffert many times- there is not a harder working person in business, let alone in catering. He's a true "mensch"- his staff work so hard. The food is delicious ( my kids make me order 2 dozen matzoh balls FOR EACH OF THEM each time they cater for us!!!). I adore that they offer party leftovers to the customer first, and donate the rest to a soup kitchen to feed the hungry. Everything they do is first class, and we are "foodies." Major kudos!!!
