This is probably the best neighborhood pub in Wheaton. It definitely has that feel to it. Pretty sure the bartender is Irish and can swear really well if the situation calls for it. There's live music here all the time. The food is really good. I've had the burger, shepherds pie, and meat loaf. Damn that meat loaf is tasty. It reminds me of that time I was in County Kerry and old man O'Malley invited me over to hammer some nails in his barn. Well we got to hammering as we will and by the end of the day we nailed shut the door to his house and to the tractor. It was a wee bit of a pickle, but his missus made a fine meatloaf and it gave us the extra energy to undo all the doing we did. And got done. And so it goes in County Kerry.

We love this pub! The owner is salty and appropriately accented and can out curse me (which is an impressive accomplishment on its own). They have beers my husband likes and a cider on tap. We always get something to eat while we're there. All of the food has been awesome with only one exception. We are normally there for dinner or after dinner, but we've been once for breakfast. That's the exception to the awesome food, but only part of it. The only thing that doesn't get five stars is the eggs benedict. That only gets three stars. The potatoes that came with the eggs were incredible though. My husband's breakfast was perfect. I got a mimosa, which was good. Overall we are always happy here. Good staff good food and good drinks.

I stopped there on my way home from school and realized that there is a live Irish band playing!!! What a great laphroig evening for a rockville visitor!

This is perhaps the best 100% english-speaking bar (to be nonPC and a little direct, I really mean non-Hispanic) in town to go to, at least that I know of, so I have to give 5 stars due to lack of competition. (If any readers think I'm wrong, please comment or message me and I will edit and correct this review asap. There is one restaurant, Savannahs, in a nearby town that has a bar, but it is listed mostly as a restaurant, and it is weaker in the bar department. Ruby Tuesday has a bar, but it closes at midnight on Saturday night, so it isn't a true bar.) Anyway, the staff here are smart and friendly, and the food is pretty good for Irish food (this is coming from someone who hates irish food). Drinks, I can't speak too much about, since I don't drink. One story I know of is that the bartender gave a bill that was too low. Clients explained it was too low. Bartender thanked them and offered everyone free drinks. Nice way to say thanks and build the atmosphere. They even have a trivia night, which attracts interesting intellectuals.

Banger Sausage and Mash $16 (4/5 NOMs) Late night drinks and food with traditional sausages and potatoes. When enjoying a few drinks late at night you really want something that will help you enjoy even more drinks. This traditional Irish dish would make any sausage fan happy. Two nice and thick lamb and beef sausages served with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and potato croquettes. Just fell in love with this balls and sausage combination. Served with a side of very spicy mustard for some extra kick to it. Vegan Sausage $9 (4/5 NOMs) Lets dive into meatless meaty goodness! This grilled apple and sage sausage came highly recommended by one of our nomster fans. At first glance I couldn't even see the sausage, they just piled a mountain of sauteed mushrooms and onion. Sausage texture was identical to that of a real bratwurst. Comes with Guinness mustard on the side, but be careful and don't use too much. It has such a strong flavor that it might take away from the sausage. There is a lot going on and you need a big bun to hold all together. I think this is a must try for any vegetarian. Crabby Pretzel $10 (4/5 NOMs) Going to krabby shack under the sea! I couldn't pass by baked soft pretzel smothered in crab spread and cheddar cheese. More like a mountain of flavorful crabby cheesy goodness on top of soft pretzel. It's very bready so make sure to split it with a friend or two. Don't really see something like this oftent. Great starter to an adventure under the sea.

Standard hole-in-the-wall irish pub, but the wings are UNREAL!!! Best in the area, for sure. Great staff too!! The bartender Matt was especially awesome, attentive, and making sure our drinks were full.

I usually come to Limerick on Tuesdays for trivia. I used to go to Fire Station 1 but Limerick has much better food and better service. Parking is free at night in the lot across the street but if you come for trivia, make sure you get there early because the place is TINY! Service is alright. They seem to be perpetually understaffed and I understand that serving people who are doing trivia is tough but the wait staff could be a bit less surly. Prices are good and their liquor selection is vast but I'd like to see more craft beer on draft. Their food is better than most bar food and the onion rings are amazing! All in all, it's a good bar but I don't go there outside of trivia nights because it isn't much different than McGinty's or Quarry House nearby.

Fish and Chips here are lightly battered, perfectly cooked, piled high, pieces of perfection. Chips are not the cigar-thick traditional "chips", but are regular americanized french fries. I did not taste them, so I'm gonna have to leave you in the dark about those. According to other reviews, the jury is out and it looks like it's gonna mistrial with a hung panel. But man is that Fish on the Fish and Chips good. It's so good, that I didn't even order it, but I'm insisting that you do. The person I was meeting with gave me a small taste, and it's all I can think about. I ordered the salmon sandwich, opting to switch out the fries for side salad. Good choice on my part. The side salad ( which I asked for before my meal), was surprisingly fresh and full of a mix of lettuces. I asked for balsamic vinaigrette and got some type of lemon vinaigrette ( which I believe to be their house dressing). It was very good! Reminded me of the Tessamae's Lemon Dressing, but with more flavor. The salmon was a bit over for my liking. But when piled on a sandwich with their Old Bay tartar sauce ( extra points for that), it was pretty delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to order it again knowing that their fish is fresh. I might ask for it medium though. Man, did I tell you how fresh the fish was in the Fish and Chips. It was largely flaky tender hunks of white soft filet. We also got a side of the brown bread which is an Irish favorite that I don't see served many places. It was also delicious! Limerick Pub... nice job. Food there is truly fantastic. Server was a bit difficult to get ahold of, and was a bit inattentive as she was busy both tending to the bar, and the restaurant seating. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu.

As always trivia night at Limerick's is crowded! This neighborhood bar is welcoming with good food, flowing spirits and helpful staff. I always look forward to making this place a part of my evening out.

First time at this pub and i was pleasantly suprised. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We order the salmon entree and rib special, both were very delicious, no complaints. Prices are a little above average, but fair. Facility is nice, outdoor seating was great for a Friday summer evening. Crowd is mixed of cultures and ages. Although in the heart of Mexico, this place was very much American/Irish. Glad to have stumbled across this place, definitely will return.

Back again tonight for dinner. As always an awesome experience! Fish and chips were perfect and the live music was great! Can't wait to come back.

Have been here a few times, be it for their Tuesday night trivia or just a local pint as there aren't too many options for a good local brew. First the good: Its nice inside and there is outdoor seating which is a great addition. The beer selection is pretty good too. Now the bad: Service here is always slow. Even when its quiet it seems to take too long to get a drink. The food is poor too. We once had potato croquettes which were an appetiser but managed to come out after the main meal as they forgot to make them. That's okay, it happens. But, when they were arrived they were frozen in the middle. This is pretty typical and why when I go now I don't order food. So in summary, beer good, food poor, service very slow. A real let down and why I go to Mcginty's in Silver Spring far more often.

You got to be kidding me.... I decided to go to this pub because all of the "Good" reviews on this page. These reviewers has to be family or friends because i got a completely different vibe. We walked into the pub where sign stated "Seat Your Self" so me and my friend decided to seat our selves. We waited for about 10 minutes until someone even came and offered water. I guess waiter didn't know we was sitting there... Fine. The food.... what the hell....i ordered the limerick burger with fries.. The burger was meh ok. The fries was the nastiest thing i have ever tasted. I think the fries were old. It tasted like crap, and looked like it too. i also ordered wings as appetizer which i got with my entree.... really... Fine. The wings are def old. It was nasty. The ambiance- It looked very old, and not a place where i would ever go back to watch a game. Waiter- My waiter was actually very friendly, and was trying her best to make sure we was okay. She knew we looked disturbed. I did not want to get up and leave. They def need more waiters there was only two people. People were actually raising their hand to get waiters attention... u gotta be kidding me... Tip to management. Invest in some lights. Invest in some better quality food. Invest in at least one more waiter.

Every Tuesday, Trivia Kings runs a great trivia night here. The staff gears up for it and basically breaks their backs to move tables and accommodate us. The food is good, and the desserts seem to be out of this world. I wouldn't know; I simply don't have a sweet tooth, but those gigantic portions of pie or whatever the dessert of the day is are definitely a big hit with the rest of the crowd. Lastly, the staff knows exactly when to bring the check so that you have plenty of time to complete your transaction without having to wait around after trivia is over. That's pretty cool, cuz I got shit to do! :)

Had the fish sandwich and key lime pie. The waiter never refilled our beverages or asked if we wanted another beer. The fish was OK but the bun was burnt. I had the onion rings which were dry. My daughter's fries were not fully cooked. The key lime pie crust was burnt and my husband's bread pudding was not fully cooked and we threw it away. Won't be back.

Review for practically nothing.. But we walked in and immediately liked the atmosphere. I sat at the bar when my BF had an emergency phone call for work. The bartender greeted me and seemed nice. Handed me a menu that looked decent. Then I had to leave to go with the bf. We plan on coming back to drink and eat. It was pretty packed for a Tuesday night. Will update on my experience later.

For a Pub this place has great food. They alternate their food specials depending on the seasons. The owner is always around and very friendly, along with the staff. Most of their menu items are made in house! Their specials change daily and it's always worth checking out what they have. Never a dull moment! Definitely a local hang out worth visiting!!

Chicken Tenders for the kids meal came out burnt and very dark was told that is how they look and if they cook them less they would not be cooked. He said he sells 50 orders a week just like that.

The bad part about this place is that it's really close to home which makes the urge to not go and order a big meal hard to resist. I've been there a handful of times and the first thing that comes to mind is how friendly the bartenders are there. They greet you, shake your hand and you feel very comfortable here. That's all I ask of any bar really. I've had a fair share of the menu and what sticks out to me oddly enough isn't something you'd expect to stick out at an Irish pub and that's their meatball sandwich. I really dug it. The two bacon BLT is pretty good to and the accompanying onion rings are nice and big. There is still a lot for me to tryout on their menu but what I've had so far has been very very good. It's also a nice place to watch Maryland football on Saturday afternoons.

Folks i must set record straight on Raylene and John D reviews. My family was sitting next to this nightmare couple and their spoiled 5 year old. We have been coming to the limerick for 4 years and have never had a bad meal or bad service. Yea its true they can get very busy but never have we felt ignored. Best Fish and Chips (fish sandwich) in the metropolitan area. Hands down. All these two did was bitch from the time they sat down until they left. The owner even came out and handled their issues himself. Their was no pleasing these people. Trust me, ignore their reviews because no one and i mean no one could please these two. The Limerick is a huge part of this community and we love them

I found this pub based on Yelp reviews, and I wasn't disappointed! I actually braved going to the Limerick Pub for St. Patrick's Day, and although I was expecting sub-par quality due to the crowds, I was pleasantly surprised! It did take us a very, very long time to find a table, and it wasn't very clear at first that our section was considered a bar self-serve area, but once we figured that out, it was smooth sailing from there. I had the Bangers and Mash, and it was delicious. The kitchen forgot my salad, but I realized it after the end of the meal and asked the manager, and they brought one out right away. I loved the live music; the performers were very talented and did a great job of getting the crowd involved and interested. It was a great place, and I can't wait to go back on a less hectic day!

Great Irish pub in Wheaton, and the "local" for a lot of friends. Great staff, great burgers, the spinach salad is the best, and come on a Wednesday for prime rib night! Great Irish music most nights (except trivia night on tuesdays), excellent beer selection, bands on weekends. Not a huge place, but it's really only too small on St. Patricks Day. Wish there were more small local pubs like Limerick Pub!

Jed the bartender is one of the best! Remembers everyone's name that comes in the door. I ate here three times in the 5 days I stayed in Silver Spring; he called me by my name upon entering the second time. I enjoyed the best rueben I have every had, corned beef and cabbage was top notch and authentic, and the fish and chips were phenomenal. Couple that with a great atmospheere and Trivia Tuesdays and you have a winner.

My fiancee and I came here for St. Patty's Day (a bold move, I know!), but we did not regret it! The bar did an excellent job of keeping within capacity; in fact, we were the last two people allowed in the bar that evening before they began turning people away! For a $5 cover, we both got t-shirts, so we thought that was a very fair deal. The live band was CRAZY talented, and the First Four of the NCAA tournament was on the televisions (perfect for me!). Lastly, once we got a spot at a table after a bit of a wait, I ordered some fish and chips (with my Yuengling lager) and my fiancee ordered bangers and mash. Both our orders were delicious! In particular, my fish was fried to perfection. We didn't receive our included salads at first, but when a manager came by and we told him, he got us salads very quickly. My only complaint is that it took me about 15 min. to pay since the bartenders were so swamped. All in all, though, The Limerick Pub treated me to a lovely St. Patty's Day dinner.

A clean and cozy Irish pub with live music on the weekends. One of the best pub options in Wheaton.

  • Kevin G.

A nice place with good food and good people and often with fine live Irish music. Priced accordingly from some typical American fair to the Irish standards. If you're in the area looking for a place where you can eat, drink, hear music and the person next to you, this is it. I can't give it 5 stars in fairness, but it is the highest of 4.

  • Tonny T.

i didnt plan on drinking nor evening being here, however my friend suggested it because it was closer. And we pass this bar frequently. I give the 4 stars for the local feel, it seems a lot of regulars come by. Also the Bar tender has a great sense of humor. Although there was just one person (the bar tender) he efficiently managed tabs and was attentive to orders. This is practically the first Irish pub i've been to so ... its just my opinion, it seems the most authentic? And less compromised than some other places that Ive visited with a pub title.

This is literally two minutes from my apartment and I can walk there - so I headed over to check it out since I always see a good amount of people seated on the outdoor patio out front. It definitely has the Irish pub feel. I tried the Banoffe - bananas, caramel, graham cracker crust and real whiped cream - it was delish! The bartender was so nice the whole time and when I left said, :"Hope you come back sweetheart." Who wouldn't appreciate that? I need to go back and try more of the food - and sit outside!

  • Beth M.

We came here on a cold, snowy night. The waiter was attentive and even went out of the way to make one of the coffee drinks with decaf for me. The food was amazing. I was craving the two bacon BLT for days after I had it. The fries were great and the onion rings (actually the size of onion bracelets) were crisp and not too greasy. We loved it and will definitely be back.

  • Opie M.

The best new thing, chili, A nice tasting no beans chili that they now serve as an appetizer or on chili dogs during football specials. Chili is hard to find at an Irish pub , in fact any spicy food is hard-to-find , this saves me a trip to the hard Times cafe. They now have a house hot sauce that they sell to go and will give you some on the side to add to any dish. Tell me what you think is in it... Please bring back the rotator IPA.

This is easily our favorite place to go in Wheaton. The food is delicious and the service is extraordinary; the staff bends over backwards to get people in and seated. Saturday nights are flat out busy, especially with the live music so come early and come often. The food is delicious and reasonably priced and the atmosphere is much more authentically Irish than alot of these poser "Irish pubs" that litter the streets. And for the elephant in the room . . . . parking. Parking is actually good (don't share this review with the county or they'll sell the lots to developers). There's a lot right across the street and decent street parking, all of which is presently free (see caution above) after 6pm.

I live close to this pub and I have no considered it my "home bar" for several years. Food: Excellent! I am a vegan and it is VERY hard to find good hearty vegan meals at Iris pubs. Limerick is innovative and comes up with creative ways to put a vegan twist on old favorites. The fries are great too and they're my favorite fries around. Drinks: Awesome selection and the prices are pretty good, especially if you take advantage of the happy hour. They are also happy to mix you up something interesting if you're looking to try something new and fun. Vibe: I've always loved the staff. They remember you if you come in a couple times and that familiar smile is nice to see. When Monica, one of the owners, is around, she'll gladly pull up and chair and chat with you about the food, drinks, pub history, or anything else.

This place is conveniently located in my neighborhood. Chicken wings are big and to die for. Never been to happy hour but this place is packed for sports events. I always get Stella Artois beer. Get here early during events but space is small. Highly recommend as my neighborhood favorite.

Nice atmosphere, very "Irish" with good folk music (live) and a surprisingly tasty key lime pie!! Would have preferred the TV behind musicians go off when they are performing, very distracting for the eye.... Overall good service, very friendly. Not a quiet dinner out, though, so be prepared for a fair amount of noise. Looking forward to having a meal here before the music next time!

I have never had a bad experience here at the limerick pub! The food has always been good and the beer is always flowing! The service is great they make you feel comfortable and welcomed! The football specials are hands down the best in this area. There are not many pubs in this area that can compare. The wings are great! The burgers are great!

This place is awesome! This will be the new place my brother and I frequent when I come to Wheaton to visit him. Great service, great people, and excellent management. Scott the owner is a really great guy and takes pride in his establishment. From the time we walked in the door we knew we were at home. Thank you for a great dinner Limerick Pub! PROST!

When the Scottish restaurant in Wheaton closed, we were very sad. Thank goodness the Limerick Pub is still just down the street! I've come here multiple times for lunch or dinner, most recently after having to evacuate Ruby Tuesday's (see review). We were met promptly at the door, did not have to wait long for a table (which was near the fireplace, an added plus for a cold evening) and were served promptly. They had kid-friendly food (though not many choices) and my lamb stew was delicious. The crab dip was creamy and flavorful. Plus they featured live music that wasn't too loud. In short, a great, family-friendly dining experience.

local joint. i like it immediately. it felt like the pubs in ireland where there was a hint of stale beer in the floors, the patrons were smiling, and there didnt seem to be care in the world. as we passed the folks at the bar, they greeted us and smiled. we went on a wed and i believe their calendar called for a trad session, which i interpreted to be live music. i was wrong apparently...however, we did manage to pick up the wed night prime rib special and enjoyed it. the service was so-so, but who cares! the Guinness was flowing and the experience was a good one.

We stopped in for a pint and some food without realizing there would be music. Whole normally this is something I like, that night we just wanted to chat with our friends. But I digress. The Limerick bills itself as an authentic Irish pub, but it's just too clean, too new-looking, too bright. However, the server was funny and brought our drinks quickly. We ordered some buffalo wings and Irish potato croquettes. While the wings were only ok, the croquettes were really good! I'd definitely get then again if we go back. Wheaton has a serious lack of nice watering holes, so the Limerick Pub definitely fills a gap.

We go here all the time because it is awesome! It's a very chill atmosphere, there's often live music, and the food and drinks are great. It is pub food, so no caviar and filet minion here, but what they do have is delicious. We usually get the Limerick burger with goat cheese and caramelized onions which is to die for, and wash it down with a snake bite (Guinness + hard cider). If you want a chill, relatively inexpensive evening out with music and good old fashioned pub food with an Irish twist, come here. The service isn't super fast but we go there to hang out and relax usually so it doesn't bother us. If you want to eat here but are in a rush, order at the bar.

What I Got: -Limerick Chips app (Fries with crispy horseradish and melted cheese sauce, served with rosemary mayo) -Bangers & Mash (Sausages with dijon-caper mashed potatoes and corn-mushroom fritters) -BF got Shepherds Pie What I Thought: -Oh.my .god.the.sausage. (insert: Michael Scott's favorite phrase) If you get anything from Limerick, please get the sausage/bangers. They blew me away. When I asked the waiter, my suspicions were confirmed: made in house!! And whoa nelly, does it taste it! The mashed potatoes were good, though I would have been perfectly content with them plain (not because they were done poorly, but only because I love plain mashed potatoes!) The fritters were ok, but nothing memorable. I think they would be better if the fillings (mushrooms and corn) were left chunkier instead of finely diced. -The taste I stole of the Shepherds Pie was wonderful; full of delicious lamb flavor! Another person at our table got the beef stew & quite enjoyed it. -The Limerick Chips... oh this saddens me. This is the only negative thing I have to say about the place, and the thing that's holding them back. Half the fries came out semi-uncooked/ weren't very fluffy in the middle. This is KILLER! They are a pub & so need good fries for snacking!!! ESPECIALLY when you have Fish & Chips on the menu- you can't have half of a textbook Irish dish falling short! So sad. I had read another review of this place around the time they opened and they had complaints about the fries, as well... seems they haven't got this right, yet. Otherwise, the cheese sauce was delicious and the rosemary mayo, though could be thinned out a little and may be too-herby for some, were both very tasty. The horseradish chips didn't offer much, and was more of an unnecessary garnish. Misc: -Our server was excellent. Perfectly attentive, friendly and knowledgeable- very big plus! -Good selection of beers on draft as well as 1/2 guiness drinks and cocktails for a GREAT price! Definitely cheaper than many Bethesda/DC locations (that or on par with good deals.) -Live Irish Music! Very fun. -Almost ALL food is made in-house, I was told. From the sausages to the ice cream! -DEFINITELY get Irish food. It's what they do, and they do it well. -They have a vegan meatloaf! I was pleasantly surprised by this. Not because I am vegan, just because of the variety of it. There's also a portabella burger & a grilled cheese. For a small menu (and an Irish one at that), this is a great selection of veg/vegan options! Well done. -I definitely want to go back and try their fish & chips (a favorite of mine, and I have heard they do the fish excellently), as well as their desserts. Overall, I am very pleased with the place and would definitely go back. I think it's a good neighborhood pub and can't wait for all remaining kinks to be worked out! -Be mindful that a search on google maps may direct you to a closed location on University- this is NOT their location! Go to the corner of Elkin & Price Ave.

I had lunch at The Limerick Pub on Sunday June 12th. It was quiet, as in few customers. The food was good, had shepherd's pie with a small side salad and and large slice of hot cherry pie for dessert. I found the service to be good but the place was a bit lacking in personality and atmosphere. Perhaps in the evening the place comes more alive! I"ll give it another try!

My first time at Limerick Pub. I had a burger and my wife had fried oysters. The food was very good though nothing spectacular. Will have to try some of the more irish dishes next time. The waitress/bartender was super friendly which made it a good experience.

Absolutely the worst "Irish Pub." Food was ok, waitress forgot half the order, flat beer and if you well bourbon is Jack Daniels.......well! The only good thing was the 5 men playing music.

I came here with 14 other people to celebrate St. Patrick's Day even though St. Patrick's Day was a week earlier. If you like Irish places, you'll love The Limerick Pub. It has great food, wonderful beer, a wide variety of spirits and friendly waitresses. We had one that was able to keep on top of our food and drink orders even though we were a fairly large group. They also have live music which is quite good. And darts. It wouldn't be an Irish place without darts. The only downside is that it's a small place so it fills up quickly. At least it did the Saturday we were there. You also have to park on the street (meters) or in a lot across the street (meters) but the meters only have to be fed until 6:00pm so if you get in close to then, you're good. Definitely a great, little place to come and enjoy some food and drink and the company of good friends. EDIT.... Mike B. wanted to know about the food...so here it is. I had the Shepherd's Pie - spicy and tasty and plenty! Your choice of a salad or vegetable. Oh. And the Limerick Chips as an appetizer while we were waiting for our friends to show up. Good stuff. The Missus had Bangers and Mash. Also good stuff. The rest of the people had a wide variety of goodies but I didn't really keep track. Yeah, they have "regular" food, too, like burgers but there is enough authentic Irish food to tide you over. I say go for it!

We have been to the Limerick a number of times with experiences from good to poor. This last one was poor. Received an email about their special on Lamb Burgers for Nov. 22 - 24. Although they were rather expensive ($13.50), we worked our schedule around to be sure to do a meal there and planned to watch the early football game on Sunday. We got there by 1 PM on the 24th and they only had one lamb burger left. If that wasn't disappointing enough, we ordered one burger and an order of their football special chili. First the burger, it was small. Looked like it might have been a (we can squeeze one more serving) attempt. Certainly not worth the price. The onion rings served with it were good. Then the Chili...it came out luke warm. The tomatoes and onions were large chunks (lazy prep cook), and the portion was small. While it was a $5 special, was surprised at the small portion. Some special... I told the bartender it was not warm so he took it back and it was obviously microwaved to heat it up. (No more raw tomatoes and onions...and it was greasier as well). The bartender, while attentive, seemed somewhat indifferent. Overall, did not feel like a valued customer. The plus side is that their Football specials are relatively inexpensive although they have a very limited beer selection on special so, if you don't want a light beer, be prepared to pay relatively high prices for beer - even during football. Speaking of watching football, they have a few TV's but not particularly large enough if you like to see your sports LARGE. Bottom line, it has a nice "Irish bar" atmosphere, some good entertainment from time to time, but feel it is not a good value overall.

Food was great! Great beer selection too. Our server was very friendly. We brought our two kids along; we all enjoyed the live music. Give it a shot!

We decided to go on St. Pattys day. Welp! of course it was super crowded being one of the only authentic Irish bars in the area. Despite the crowds, all the staff were incredibly efficient. Getting orders out, drinks served, keeping the crowds happy. I tried the fish 'N' chips for the first time and it was great. So good and not greasy at all! People have warned me that fish'n'chips is the one dish that is either good or bad, no in-between. But I can tell you it was delicious! We also had the beef stew and it was soooo good too. The wait staff specifically Jessie was great. She really went above and beyond. There was no place to sit and you couldn't order food to go so she put our food in to-go containers so we could at least eat a bit more comfortably, considering that we had to stand up to eat our food. Despite the crowded factor which was understandably due to it being St. Patricks day, we had a great experience at Limericks and will definitely be back.

This is definitely the best local Irish Pub in Silver Spring. The food is decent and the atmosphere is relaxing. The staff is very attentive and friendly. There's also a good selection of Irish whiskey. Highly recommend this pub.

The good: The Limerick Pub is open when you want it to be open, they have decent beer on tap, and for the most part the staff and clientele are friendly people. They have a $5.00 burger special on Mondays, trivia on Tuesdays, and live music throughout the month. Oh, and they have a dart league. Yes, that is important. The bad: the layout and feel of the place is somewhat schizophrenic--it can't decide if it's a sports bar or a restaurant or what have you. It's hard to find a place in there to just hang out and have a drink if the bar is full. Everywhere else feels like you should be eating, paying your bill, and leaving. The proximity to a lot of new and cheap housing also attracts kids with fake IDs, weird after work covens, and other strangeness. All in all, though, not a bad spot to stop in and have a drink or a meal. The smokers hang out at the tables outside, and they seem like the cool kids. So try that if you're looking to be social.

Very friendly atmosphere (5 stars); food and tap selection are good (4 stars); wait staff friendly and usually attentive (4 stars); Irish music awesome (5 stars). Ordered a reuben once and it had real cabbage - much to my (pleasant) surprise since I'm used to sauerkraut. Monday night burger specials are always good. Crab dip, salmon etc. awesome. I can understand some of the reviewers having a problem with the wait time for being served. My guess is that this isn't a regular problem (?) But I usually sit at the bar and order. Location sure beats Bethesda!

My family and I are just now leaving The Limerick Pub. The food was great! The service however was not. Items were slammed on were on our table by our server. We were never checked on. My uncle had to get a different servers attention for a refill which he never got from them..waited another five minutes before we could flag down our server for a refill, which was slammed down next to him and slid over to his elbow. Our server never asked who was taking care of the bill & placed it in front of one of the youngest members at our table. Poor service overall. As long as you don't get our server I'm sure you'll enjoy your meal and your experience.

A Limerick for the Pub Guinness is the beer for Danny. It cures work stress, it's handy. So he drinks and he drinks With a liver that shrivels and shrinks But in the Limerick Pub it's quite dandy. I've quite enjoyed my time at the Limerick Pub over the last couple of months. The food is standard pub fare and washes down really easy with a Harp or Guinness. The service is friendly and engaging even during their busier hours. Thursday nights have lively singing of Irish folk songs and there was even a free shot of whiskey involved. Be careful to the table ordering Guinness. A table with 4 Guinness' equals a jab from the bartender delivered via waiter, "Gobshites!" No harm meant, all in good fun. Getting cirrhosis has never been better.

The Limerick is the pub to choose in Wheaton. We've been a half dozen times since they've opened and have always had a good time. The live music is always great. I've yet to have any thing to eat that disappointed. The fish, in the fish and chips, are large, substantial yet delicate pieces, with a crispy but not overly-greasy batter. Perfectly fried every time. I'd give 5 stars except for the fact that on more than one occasion, the wait staff have dropped the ball, leaving our table ignored for long stretches at a time. It shouldn't take 15 minutes to get menus and water and then another 10 for the first round of drinks (especially when the room was only half full when we arrived). The food, the prices, the beer - THE BEER - and the live music all outweigh a piddly issue with wait times (that's easy to fix). I only wish they had more outdoor seating!

I've lived in the area 19 years so was glad to see a half decent place to stop and grab something decent to eat with a Guinness on tap. Wow! The Shepard pie was authentic ground lamb and tasty. Had several well and correctly poured pints of Guinness as as well. Taking the wife there for New Years to celebrate near home.

The atmosphere is very friendly, and you can tell there's a lot of locals who are friendly regulars. It gives the feeling that you can easily fall into the crowd if you'd like. They always have a good selection of beers and cider on tap and are happy to make suggestions and pour a taste for you. I've always liked the dishes, particularly the Irish Dip...I do hope that returns to the menu soon. They also make an excellent burger that's cooked to order. If you like rare, your burger is really served rare! Monday nights the burger is $5, add a beer and you have dinner for $10 plus tip. Sunday brunch is always nice...the Irish toast is rich and sweet, truly decadent. If sweet isn't your thing, they also do a lovely corned beef hash.

My wife and I like brunch here. I will come here from time to time for a nice glass of beer and a burger. I really like the mood and the beer selection. Shots of Jameson and a nice guinness are really enjoyable at the bar.

Finally a cool, tasty, modern, family friendly place to go in Wheaton. I went there for the first time today with my husband and two year old. The jazz band lulled my son to sleep as we ate our delicious brunch; better than any place I've gone to for breakfast in or around dc and we go out for breakfast almost weekly. If you live in the district it worths the trip. Its nice without being pretentious, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxing. It was obvious that the owner made a lot of well thought decisions in the interior design. Even the bathroom was thought out. Also the food came quickly and the service was attentive. I can't say enough things about this place.

"This would be a three star rating, the service pushes it to a 4, and I am going to give it a 5 because a vegan decided an Irish pub was the place to get food and I feel compelled to undo the damage. Here's a tip vegans: THE IRISH LOVE BEEF AND LAMB!!!!! I don't remember seeing a single "vegan option" on any menu out there, in fact. What were you thinking???" Um, clearly you did not look too closely at the menu because they had a vegan roasted vegetable dip and vegan meatloaf. Which by the way, I thought were overall tasty options even if the meatloaf was a but lacking in texture. And thanks to the glorious power of the internet, as of this review there are vegan bangers and chips. Get over yourself. Now that I have that out of the way, the atmosphere and the patrons are friendly. They have a lot of expected Irish menu items. I usually order the 'Twins of Ireland' for a sampler of Shepherd's Pie and Guinness beef stew. And yes, the vegan dips are good. Limerick is always adding new stuff to the menu, so it's a nice place to frequent. My friend swears by The Reuben. Maybe I will try that next!

The Limerick Pub is a fantastic neighborhood place. I live about an hour away, but needed to find a place to host a small post-gravesite reception for my mother-in-law. I called up the Limerick based on Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. Scott worked with me to create a small afternoon buffet for the crowd. The food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. I cannot thank the staff of Limerick enough for giving us a home away from home that day. You can be sure that we will stop by again the next time we are in Wheaton.

I enjoy the 2 minute walk from my apartment, that much can be said. For dinner, I ate fish and chips which were surprisingly good. A bit overpriced in my opinion at $15, but it was a good sized portion. Alternatively, my dinner guest had the Guinness beef stew, which had a good taste- but the meat was overcooked, and again - pricey for the amount you got. There was a side of asparagus, which was the best part of the meal. The Irish music playing added to the atmosphere. I know this place gets pretty busy, but it was surprisingly lackluster for my first visit. Their brunch menu looks decent so I would maybe go back for that...

We've been here a couple of times now, most recently for brunch. The food is really good; I've never been disappointed with it. There is a server though who seems completed befuddled every time we see him. He likes to hover around the table after he's taken the order or asks a question. Maybe it's just me.... The brunch menu is a nice addition. I appreciate the creamed chipped beef, even if it has an egg on top of it (it seems next to impossible to find a good plate of it down here). The home fries were also splendid; a nice crisp combination of butter and seasoning made me wanting alot more! Just note that they have a jazz band on Sundays. It can get kind of difficult to carry on a conversation with your dining companion, but it's a nice, enjoyable addition.

Tried the limerick for a lunch with friends because our usual the nearby Royal mile was closed. A good choice because the draft beer was good and the fish and chips better than the RM. Plus more Inviting because more light than the gloomy RM and quiet,a good place for conversation. Have been back several times for lunch since and Initial impressions reconfirmed. One Of these days we'll try some of the other menu items but can say the fish and chips are great and the chocolate cake is wonderful.

The first time we went to Limerick was on a whim because we were curious... Whats up with the new Irish place right across the street from the Scottish place? What we found was a haven for my weary bones on even the most arduous days. The place is one of the few with Kilkenny on tap (if you're not familiar, find out a way to be), darts are always available, live music is almost as regular as the good service, and the rosemary mayo that's served with the chip is to DIE for. I don't live in Wheaton anymore but when I need to relax and share a pint, its the first on my list. PS- The Brown Bread Ice Cream is also a must have. Don't miss it!

Perhaps it is quite fitting that an Irish Pub named after that dirty, old town, nicknamed 'stab city' - Limerick, opened in the perpetually blue collar, and oft downtrodden Wheaton, and what's more to like about this place is that it actually has the feel of a true Irish pub (not just a bar that puts up an Irish flag, a couple of Guinness posters, but has the interior design of a hooters reject and serves buckets of bud light). This place is diminutive and geometrically challenged. In other words - it's not very big and a tad cramped, but that's what the local town pub in Ireland is supposed to be like. The only thing that is missing is the charm of age, but how can you fault a pub that has just opened for business? They are still dusting away the saw dust. Now the decor in here doesn't have the genuine fake decor of a Fadó or any other Irish chain restaurant that you can name off the top of your head, but unfortunately, the interior pub design is just a bit off the mark. It is more of a hybrid the typical American style of bar design mixed with the neighborhood Irish pub. The good thing is that beer selection is very Irish (the most important aspect of a pub) and they have a very nice whiskey selection full of Irish whiskeys and Scottish single malts. Here is a sampling of what they have on tap: Bass Ale Blue Moon White Ale Carlsberg Lager Guinness Stout Magner's Hard Cider McSorley's Black Lager Miller Lite Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale Sam Adams Boston Lager Smithwick's Irish Ale The bad thing is that they don't serve their draught beer in the Irish (or imperial) sized 20 ounce pint glasses. They use the smaller, American 16 ounce pint glasses. It's a minor issue, but many Irish (as well as British) pubs in the states have been serving beer in the 20 ounce pint glasses over the past few years and my expectations for ordering a 'true' pint of Guinness at Irish pub has become the standard, not the exception these days. As for the standard 12 ounce variety, they also have a commendable bottle selection of micro and macro brews from the States and beyond. The whiskeys are too numerous to list in this review, but they are plentiful and range from the comfortably obscure to the everyday sublime. The menu is the traditional Irish fare of stews, pies, and fish and chips. I had the bangers and mash which exemplified the dependable nature of Irish cuisine - taking no risk in bold flavoring, so as to avoid offending any taste bud, but stalwart enough to please the stomach. A note for the breeders - there is a children's menu with the standard selections, so have no fear in bringing the kids into this establishment. Lastly, this pub is owned by Neil Foley, who hails from Limerick (hence the name of the pub). Whether you realize it or not, anyone who has spent time frequenting Irish pubs in DC area over the years, as I have, you have probably heard Neil play fiddle (in a number of musical incarnations) over the past 35 years while you drinking your pint away at your local Irish spot. I don't think there is an Irish themed establishment in the DC region that Neil Foley has not played music in...... including the establishments that are now defunct. Now he has his own place to play fiddle and tin whistle and that is more authentic than any piece of wood in Fadó. So,come all ye, white folks. Forsake Wheaton, no longer! The Anchor Inn may be a distant memory, but this new establishment awaits for you like a long lost lover. [Please note that the author refrained from writing limericks in the review, and also made no penis references when discussing pint sizes or describing the bangers and mash. It was difficult, but the author persevered.]

I haven't been back to the Limerick in months, but I realized while browsing that I have never written a review of this place... My husband and I are big fans of Irish pubs and restaurants, but the Limerick is one of our favorite close-to-home spots for one reason: Billy. In fact, all the bartenders [who have served us] have been fantastic, very friendly and engaging and our drinks never go dry, but there is just that bit of disappointment when Billy isn't there. The first time we ever went, maybe 6 months after they opened, Billy was our bartender. He was engaging, funny, and most importantly knew when my husband wanted another beer without having to ask. When he put down his glass to find it replaced within seconds, he turned to e and said, "I like him." Upon our first experience we decided that the food may not have been outstanding (it was GOOD, mind you, just nothing we'd be back for, whereas McGinty's has incredible food [now that they have Chef Nico], as does Brian Boru [Severna Park, too far from our home to go there regularly]), but the service had surpassed our expectations so much that that we knew we'd be back anyway. Apparently some people [parents who brought their children in] found our favorite bartender offensive a while back, which just shows their lack of a sense of humor, and their lack of comprehension of the fact that THIS IS A BAR. I don't understand what this trend is with families taking their young children into bars (once while we were at the Quarry House, a family with noisy young children sat near us and the waiter ultimately moved them to a back corner because other patrons were being bothered - and that's a DIVEY bar! I can almost see why The Limerick might food someone with it's bright colors, but why oh why did someone bring their children to a hole in the ground like QH?). Seriously, parents, stop it. Get a babysitter, or go to McDonald's, and let the grownups have their booze and hilarious imported bartender without your children's snotty noses and delicate ears being involved. We've been to Ireland, most of the bartenders we met had no hesitations about a cuss word or an adult joke, and no one is offended, because everything is meant with humor. In fact, when we returned from our trip to Dublin last fall, with Euros still in our wallets, The Limerick was the first place we went (where I bemoaned the fact that the Guinness just didn't taste as good). This would be a three star rating, the service pushes it to a 4, and I am going to give it a 5 because a vegan decided an Irish pub was the place to get food and I feel compelled to undo the damage. Here's a tip vegans: THE IRISH LOVE BEEF AND LAMB!!!!! I don't remember seeing a single "vegan option" on any menu out there, in fact. What were you thinking???

The food here is pretty good (at least the Shepard's Pie is), the service on the other hand is really lacking (we went early on a Wednesday night). We had three different people take my wife's and my order. One person brought the silverware and water *which he managed to spill on my and never realize), one brought the drink menu, and one took our order. Once we got the food, we never saw the servers again, no refills on the water or beer, no checking in to see how the food was, nothing. This was very disappointing, especially given that I really liked the food. I am torn on whether or not to go back because the service is just really that bad.

I love this spot - and I appreciate the decor because I didn't feel like I was in a pub, but a nice spot with nice lighting, and clean. Hey - that's just me. Now that I've shown you I have no clout with which to review a pub, let me further that opinion of me. I also really liked with menu which offered several vegetarian options including a house made veggie burger I've yet to try. I heard the regular burger is great. I had the spinach artichoke dip. Could have used more spinach and less cream cheese, imo. That didn't stop me from effing it up. Beers - I'm only concerned with calories when it comes to beers. Miller Lite, please. Crowd is jovial, bartenders are cool and attentive. I will return.

We ate here once and have just never wanted to go back. I was lured in by the promise of vegan food on the menu. Since I can't have milk, that's always a plus. The place is very cute, but the vegan meatloaf was so disgusting, I only ate two bites. The waiter was so nice about it and took it off our bill. My husband had a so-so sandwich. We had trouble finding the place at first - it's in Wheaton on a little side street near the giant hole in the ground that used to be Safeway.

Loved this place! Only thing that kept them from getting a "5" was they ran out of onion rings and ice cream for the bread pudding the night we were there. Food is tasty and nicely presented and very reasonably priced. For 2 drinks apiece, a starter salad, 2 entrees, a shared cake dessert and Irish coffees for us both--$63!! I was on a first date, so I think I won points for picking a reasonable place! The live music was fun but not overpowering.

We have been here many times and most of the time have had great food and service. The staff is good, the owner and the bartenders. The first time they asked our names and remembered with roughly 50 others which was impressive. The owner found me a seat at the bar on a very busy night not wanting a lady to stand. The pricing is average and the decor is new and nice for an irish pub. Clean bathrooms too. Wednesday prime rib night is highly recommended. They have a lot of events for patrons with good specials plus they have several vegan and vegetarian specials which is great for my husband. We have had a few minor issues to point out. We have tried to go multiple times only to find a note on the door saying closed for private event or closed between certain hours for a concert. The first few times it was no biggie, but it seems frequent. There is also a male Hispanic server who has waited on us a few times who has been very neglectful every time. If you see a female African American server, try for her section. She is always smiling, super happy and great at her job. I'll try to get names next time. I have not seen any other servers besides these two though I tend to go during the same times and days so they probably have more I don't know.

I have to give them 5 starts simply for service alone. After 9 long months of having to avoid the high nitrate content of my beloved corned beef and 12 hours of labor, I NEEDED a Reuben. The trouble is, its hard to find one at 11pm on a week night. Limerick more than pulled through. My husband, being the incredible man that he is and father in law ran out to get me my first meal as a new mommy! When they got there, the grill was closed :( They explained the situation and without hesitation, they reopened the grill and kitchen for us. This is a very rare case of over the top customer service. The fries were seasoned and incredibly delicious. Their Irish reuben has cabbage instead of sauerkraut and it is VERY good. The salad was lacking because the dressing was so oily. All I can think about is how perfect that reuben tasted. It was worth the wait!

In comparison to other Irish pubs, the Limerick stands among the best. In comparison to other restaurants... well, it's an Irish pub. I'm not a big fan of Irish food, which tends toward the meat-heavy. However, the Limerick actually has menu items I look forward to. They have one of the best veggie burgers in Wheaton (how weird is that for an Irish pub?) and they also have a great spinach and goat cheese salad. Their fries can be wonderful, but the consistency isn't there. If they aren't crispy when you're there, send them back - they are happy to fix it. On Tuesdays they have a great trivia game that packs the place most weeks. There's always a TV visible, no matter where you sit, and the place is small enough that if your game isn't playing, they'll put it on. The wait staff is mostly great. Ask for Tanya or Kyle -- they'll make sure you're comfortable and have a good time. I have friends who swear by the Limerick's Irish Rueben, which I've never had. They also have a fantastic burger (they call it the Limerick burger) which is worth it even if you hate everything else about the place. Metro-friendly, and for a pub, also fairly kid friendly. I can't believe I'm recommending an Irish pub, but you really ought to give this place a shot.

Look, I get the Irish Pub thing. I have been going to them since I was a wee lad, and a few in ol' Erin, herself. Good service, interesting layout, took awhile for a server to get to us, yet when she did, it was spot on thereafter. What got me was the size of the beers. small glasses of ale, mostly for the Wee folk. Not for the likes of someone who reads books like "a Man and His Pint" These glasses are the Guinness style glasses, yet the small little baby ones. Whiskey? Twice the price of the Scottish pub 2 doors up the street. The dartboards had tables in front of them, so I am not really sure if those are every open. Would be nice if they were. All and all, I am glad to see another Irish Pub, It's just interesting that a new pub would be the most expensive place to get a drink in Wheaton..

I have been to Ireland and studied Irish Lit. while there. This is the worst Irish Pub I have ever been too. They had no clue what June 16th was... "Bloomsday". The waitress was complaining how she didn't even like to work there. The atmosphere was cold and not even close to being an Irish Pub. Irish Pub's are to be warm and welcoming. This is the second time we have tried to go there and I just can't do it anymore. The only thing that's remotely Irish is a Jersey and a license plate.

Walked in and sat ourselves as per the sign. Seemed like 1 waiter was in charge of the 10 tables. After 5 minutes he said hello to us then proceeded to get drinks for thee customers. After 10 minutes and still not having a menu, we left. There is an awesome pub next door with similar fare that is less busy.

Cozy spot to kick back and chill with friends. chicken tenders, burger and fries and all were great. Wasn't screaming loud, which I appreciated. Waitress was a bit inattentive, but nothing to fret over.

Well I only walked in to check their happy hour specials of which there are currently none because "we just opened." Yes, like it takes a year of business to write "$2.00 drafts, 4pm - 6pm" or whatever on a blackboard. The decor was nice and what I would call "pub elegant". Definitely felt like a pub, not a restaurant which is GREAT because we've got enough restaurants in MC!

Wish I could do 2 1/2 stars. It's pretty with the beautiful bar and sconces and fireplace. First visit the server was a little distracted even though it was not crowded (between lunch and dinner); second visit server was more engaged. The menu is very limited right now especially for non meat eaters. The choices listed on the web page (especially for the brunch) are not all available. Even though there were limited choices at brunch, 2 of the 4 dishes weren't as described (no brown sugar or strawberries on oatmeal until requested, or mustard sauce on chicken sandwich). Hope they get the menu straightened out as there seems to be potential but may take a month or two or three.

I've been coming here regularly since they opened. It has a good atmosphere, great staff, and great beer selection. The food is pretty damn good too ($5 burgers on mondays!). My only gripe would be price, and that's a small one. Hey, we've all got to make a living, right? Two dart boards that are free all the time, and walking distance from the metro. What's not to like?

Good beer on tap, which is the primary reason for an Irish pub, isn't it? The food is well-made with large portions. It is a little pricey for a neighborhood pub, but worth repeated visits.

Went there with my dad a few days ago for an early lunch. Since it was relatively new, it lacked the usual Irish pub vibe. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was pretty good. Maybe with a little more 'aging', I'll head there again for another try...

A great little neighborhood bar/Irish pub. Reasonably priced, and a good atmosphere. The space is partitioned off with glass, half-wall dividers, so the noise from one area is substantially lessened in the next without making the place feel closed in.

Banoffee pie heaven! If you don't know what Banoffee pie, shame on you. It's freaking deliciousness defined. To be a little more specific, it's bananas, caramel, whipped cream, and chocolate on a graham cracker crust. First had this amazing treat in Ireland about 10 years ago, tried making it myself unsuccessfully a few times since then, and even had it at some other restaurant, but the Limerick's is by the far the closest to what I remember falling in love with in Ireland. Definitely not a dessert I find everyday, so when I do and it's tasty, I scream my happiness to the world.

I have lived in the Wheaton/Silver Spring area for over 5 years, and, as a vegetarian, I often travel to Rockville to find a restaurant with good vegetarian food (that is not Thai!). I was therefore very excited to find out that the Limerick Pub had some meat-free, non-salad offerings. We went on a Monday night, around 6ish. The bar had several people at it, and there were two other couples eating. The menu posted online had different offerings than the one at the restaurant. 2 of the veg. offerings - a portabello burger and the grilled cheese, were missing. Instead, a "homemade veggie burger" was listed. I order that and my companion (also veg) ordered the vegan meatloaf. Service was extremely slow - they were probably shocked by our order - we waited 1/2 hour for our food. I had to hold back the laughter when the food arrived and I saw the "burger" and the "meatloaf" were the same food, just sculpted into different forms. Both tasted okay, but could have used some additional herbs or spices. The baked potato with the meatloaf was good, as were the fries accompanying the burger. The meatload arrived sans bbq sauce (which it says on the menu is included) so we had to ask for that. Overall it was fine, but I wouldn't go back. As a side note, the floor was really really greasy - perhaps waxed? Very slippery and unpleasant.

We went tonight on opening night and are very excited about this new offering in Wheaton! Some specifics about tonight overall: The lighting is a bit too bright, especially over the entryway, for a feel-good atmosphere. Much good would come from turning them down just a notch. The dartboard area, which is exciting to some of us, was congested and unavailable tonight. I hope adequate space and availability is maintained in the future. The food was good overall. Tonight we had the chicken sandwich (with great mustard sauce) and the Shepard's pie (which would have benefited from a tad more gravy and spices). For an opening night, this was exceedingly wonderful for Wheaton. We will absolutely be back.
