A Westminster staple for good reason. Delicious grub and awesome bar atmosphere.

I grew up in Wesminster, and go back from time to time to visit family and friends. I met a friend for lunch. I got Caesar salad with ranch dressing (I really like their ranch) and crab quiche. This is 3rd time I've had their quiche and it is thick, fluffy and flavorful. The desserts are normally delicious. I got a slice to go (I was told it was peanut butter, but it was actually caramel) but it was still good. And I got a strawberry trifle thing for my grandmother. It was only okay BUT if you eat the desserts there, they are absolutely delicious!! Servers are always nice; sometimes too attentive (cause of the reviewers who seem to need constant mommy'ing I'm sure!). It's a nice, reasonably priced place for food.

I really really wanted to like this place. It's a cute restaurant in downtown Westminster, with 2 adorable outdoor seating areas and a great bar atmosphere. It definitely made me want to hang out and drink. That's when it all went downhill. The waitress took our drinks (all soda and water) but it took 15 minutes to get them. Same with all the food and appetizers. Everything took forever. Out waitress seemed flustered and all the other waitresses stood in plain sight texting. The crab dip was tasteless and fishy. The nachos were like something you'd get at a little league concession stand: nacho cheese (and not a lot of it), store bought salsa, and sour cream. The wings were pretty good though. My dad and sister had burgers and fries which they said were okay. My mom had their Mac n cheese special which was good, my brother ordered the ribs, and I ordered a steak medium rare. My brother ended up not liking the ribs, which was surprising because he likes pretty much all meat. They were over done, over sauces, and over spiced. I let him eat my steak because he had just played a lacrosse game and I felt bad. Good thing they ended up over cooking my steak so it was to his liking. All in all, the food and the service were both disappointing, which sucks because this place has awesome atmosphere.

Can't say nothing bad about this place!! Great atmosphere! Awesome food and may beers to choose from!! Great small place to hang out!! Stop by for a night.

Very good. The crab cake small plate was a bit pricey for what I got. My husband and son got the prime rib sandwich which they really enjoyed! The honey mustard salad dressing was fantastic!! I would go back there, but probably for the lunch menu

I really wanted to love this restaurant since it got such great reviews. We went early on a Friday evening, were seated immediately, and had great service throughout the meal. The food was great. So good, in fact, that we decided to take some berry cheesecake trifle home with us. When we went to eat the dessert, the first bite included a piece of broken glass in it. Luckily, no damage was done. We contacted the restaurant and they offered to compensate us for the dessert and would remove the dessert from the menu. (This is why this review is 2 stars instead of 1). We declined because it is hard to trust a place after such a bad experience. If there was an accident in the kitchen where a glass broke and food in the area was still served, what other questionable practices are going on that we are unaware of?

These really are the best crab cakes around. The meat was tasty and lumpy. The half and half cream of crab soup was also tasty. I will come back here again. They ship their famous cream cakes all over the world. It's good as a gift.

Lots of people from the area frequent this place. I can't figure out why.....mediocre food (at best). Their staff is awful. I train bartenders in the service industry. I would like to make a video of the staff at Maggie's to show my students what NOT to do. Terrible! Went here 3 different times over the years. Each experience was just bad. The only place worse than this, in Westminster, is Johannson's (sp?). Don't waste your time or money at either of these places.

This place is great ! Love their food ! You have to try their old bay wings they are delicious ! It's just an all around good place to eat and grab a beer.

I had a standard burger and it was really well cooked. I ordered medium rare and it came out at the perfect temperature. Serving sizes were nice and I would definitely consider going back. Decent prices as well.

Went here on a Saturday night with a girlfriend for some wine, a bite to eat, and a catch-up! Since the weather was nice, we asked to sit out on the patio, which had a quiet and cozy feel, even on a weekend night. Nice wine list, and great to see that they feature some local wines! We split a few appetizers: the crab dip, the crab crostini, and the calamari. The crab dip was by far the highlight - creamy and delicious and served with crispy slices of baguette. The crostini wasn't memorable - the bread it is served on is too thick and overshadowed the rest of the dish. The calamari was our least favorite - too oily and soggy for our taste! The food didn't leave an impression but I'd give this place another shot, even if it's just for the crab dip and some more wine :) Service was also great!

I was very impressed with this restaurant! The crab cake under Light Fare on the menu was excellent! The desserts are made in house and I thought mine - a puff pastry and cream creation was absolutely magnificent. I am hard to please with desserts as I am an avid baker, so that's saying something. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive but also knew that we were a group of work friends that were going to yak quite a while after the meal was done so they let us be. I appreciated that. I will definitely be back!

Good local restaurant to go to. I've lived in Westminster my whole life and this is one of the few restaurants that still comes up when we're discussing where to eat or drink. The bartenders are a lot of fun as are the servers. Food is amazing, half priced burger night is so worth it. Best to go in the summer though because my only complaint is that the bar area at night can get crowded. So in the summer you can sit out on the deck to drink and smoke for some extra room.

The crab cakes were indeed very good, & I even kind of like the fried cabbage stuff. However, I got the crab-topped chicken once & it wasn't very good. Not much flavor in it at all. Nice atmosphere though.

Husband and I had a great early dinner here tonight. Their martini offerings looked fun. I tried a blueberry pie version -- very tasty and the bartender was generous with the vodka. We passed on an appetizer but both enjoyed the house salad, a simple but very fresh and crisp plate of mixed greens and carrot. The raspberry vinaigrette was overly sweet, IMO. For dinner I had crab cakes -- something I'm always leary about ordering out. But I wasn't disappointed; they were delicious, perfectly seasoned and full of lump crab meat. The unusual accompaniment of what I can only describe as stir-fried cabbage (?) should be dropped from their menu immediately! Whatever they're going for, they don't get there. My husband had seafood neptune -- scallops and shrimp with tomato over linguini. It was a huge portion! Service was good -- in fact, I think the servers could relax just a bit and not worry about clearing plates just as you put the last bite in your mouth! The menu was everything from $6-10 sandwiches and burgers to entrees in the $18-24 range. Overall a nice place and we'll return.

The cream of crab soup was delicious, however my tuna entree was inedible. It came out gray on the outside and not a bright pink color in the middle. It did not look or taste fresh. They made me their scallop special which was much better, however the burned cabbage "side" dish was pretty bad. Maybe next time I should just order off the regular menu because everyone else seemed pleased with their food. Not sure what those dense hush puppy looking things are either. I'm not sure I would spend the money to return here for dinner, but the bar looked fun!

I found this place searching on the net, but felt comfortable once we walked in. the place has a comfortable feel. We had a late dinner of soup and appetizers. On a Saturday night we were still able to get a nice intimate table in the dining room. Maggie's also has a full bar with tables and a back banquet room. The staff were friendly, and service was good. We started with a cup of cream of crab soup. It was hot and had some decent lump crab meat. It tasted good, but would have been even better if some sherry would have been added. Then we had the CRAB CROSTINI which consisted of three Baked French bread rounds, layered with lump crab meat, tomatoes and basil, laced with olive oil, finished with mozzarella and provolone cheese. I think I have a new favorite appetizer. It was hot and bubbly with some garlic butter for dipping. It was wonderful. While they had a killer dessert plate, we were being good and didn't indulge this time. We had coffee which was fresh and hot. All in all a good experience. Prices were reasonable, and there was plenty of free parking. I will be back to try more of the dinner menu.

Be careful of this place! My wife and I were driving through Westminster and were looking for a lunch spot. Saw Maggie's and decided to give it a try. The nachos were fine my wife's mini crab cake appetizer was good but my burger was horrible. I asked for medium and the burger was more than well done and dry. The problem came when the check arrived. The mini crab cakes were $1.00 more than the menu price and my burger was also $1.00 more than the menu price. The server would not do anything about it. Most places interested in customer service would have adjusted the price and apologized. Neither took place. I would never go back or recommend Maggie's to anyone. After dining, a read some other reviews on Google and found that other people had the same problem.

We have eaten here several times. Their gluten free crab cakes are great. Servers try hard to work with you. Steak was a little disappointing.

Been here several times. Their baked brie appetizer, crab dip, steaks, seafood & pasta dishes are always great. We did breakfast with Santa here for the kids, too, and that was fun. Nothing stellar about the breakfast, but still, Santa was there! The service is always outstanding. While a little pricey, it's well worth it.

We have been to Maggie's several times and have enjoyed it. The crab cakes are very good and the French onion soup is great. Last night, however, was a different story. My daughter and I were seated in the bar area, and the restaurant was busy. So, service was slow, but we were in no rush. We just ordered entrees because portion sizes are large. My crab cakes were very good, but she ordered the seafood pasta....not so good. I kept getting an aroma of ammonia or cat urine, but thought it was due to sitting in the bar. My daughter didn't want to complain, but said the shrimp tasted terrible. Then I realized that the bad smell was her food! I mentioned this to the waitress who responded that she had served this all night without issue. She didn't even bother to send over a manager. I was a restaurant manager in the past, so I know the sometimes customers try to get out of paying their bill, but I just wanted them to know of the problem so that no one got sick. It's a shame. I do like Maggie's, but between the rude server and the dicey shrimp....not sure I will go back.

All the desserts are made in house! It was hard to even get dessert because we were so full from the amazing food, which is created by their chef, but we were tempted when the waitress brought a dessert tray. She was friendly, really helpful in suggesting the best things to try, and the service was fantastic. The atmosphere of this place is great and we will definitely be back. Make sure to get the coconut cake or the turtle cheesecake, they were amazing!! Do not leave without eating their crab cakes. They are made with all jumbo lump crab meant and hardly any filler. Worth the price of 24.99 (one of their priciest dishes by the way) for the two crabs cakes, two sides, and a salad included! Happy customers :)

I have gone here for strictly drinks at happy hour, for apps, and dinner. Happy hour has good specials on food which I appreciate. Their potato skins are the bomb. Drink list is so-so. I have seen better. Dinner I got the crabcake. Whatever grilled salad it was with was amazing and the crabcake itself was good but I got very sick after. Everyone I went with got the same thing and no one else got sick. I am gluten I tolerant and am sure there was breading in it. All in all its decent and we will go back for happy hour but probably not anything else.

Maggies is casual and entertaining. Bar area is a great place to grab a few drinks, dinner, or maybe a snack while watching one of the big screens. Walk right in, sit right down, let your hair hang down.

My husband and I were looking for a place with outside seating in a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Maggie's was the prefect place. Great service, great food, nice atmosphere. A little pricier than we were expecting, but it was good enough that we will be going again!

I always have a good experience at Maggie's. They have been there for years, and for good reason. This weekend's visit was no different. We had the "Crab and Shrimp Norfolk" appetizer special, to start, which we both really enjoyed. I went with one of my favorites, which is duck and wild rice. This is one of my favorite dishes. They also have amazing burgers. I recommend the bacon, blue cheese burger. And Tuesday is half price burger night. My wife ordered of of their "healthy" options and was disappointed with the lack of flavor on the Salmon, but with those "healthy items, you can't really marinade or flavor the fish much because of lack of oil. So she understood. AND, they removed it from our check so my wife could order something else. She got the spinach salad which was HUGE, and delicious. We always sit at the bar when we go out, and the regulars at Maggie's are always very friendly and accomodating. The only 2 seats together were right near the door, and it was a bit too cold for us. So one gentleman moved to sit near the door for us, so that we were able to sit together comfortably. Overall, Maggie's is one of our favorite options for dining out in Westminster.

Always like Maggie's after Westminster Owls football & lacrosse games. Today was burger time and Maggie's burgers are some of the best ones in Westminster. Don't waste your money at 5 Guys...come to Maggie's. Crab cakes are delish, Philly cheesesteak egg rolls are the bomb, & the shrimp quesadilla is my fav. Great atmosphere, bar, & friendly service will keep you coming back to Maggie's with the locals.

Was looking for a place to stop for dinner after a long hike in Catoctin State Park, and this place was the group decision. Things were ok, but I've definitely had better. Pros: outdoor seating, empty place so fast seating, and the burgers were decent. Cons: rather pricey considering the location/food quality, my boyfriend discovering a hard bone in his Cheesesteak Egg Roll (which the waitress nicely compensated us for), and not a ton of healthy food options on the menu.

I've been a local for years and this has always been a favorite spot to come to if you're looking for a mix of comfort with a touch of class! Pros Fairly large menu including small plates & wine pairings The Rueben bites! OMG!! All dressings are fresh and made in-house Combo of comfy indoor seating and quaint covered outdoor seating Full bar Friendly, sweet staff Cons Some prices didn't seem to match with the food offered Gets pretty busy around dinner time so wait times are naturally increased Overall This is a great spot to come on a date, with family, with friends, or to just relax and mingle with the locals. I saw my college professor and my dermatologist there within the same night, so this place caters more to a white collar crowd. The service is excellent for the volume. The food was presented nicely and tasted well beyond expectations. Definitely recommended!

I'll give them credit for being open on a holiday when Westminster was pretty much a ghost town. Ample indoor and outdoor seating. Service was quite slow, with a few hiccups (forgot a drink, for instance), but I'm guessing they were short-staffed on said holiday. The sign said they'd been there over a hundred years, so they must be doing something right. The menu was quintessentially American, which is to say not particularly varied, healthy, or friendly to those of us with various dietary restrictions. However, among the few vegetarian dishes, the Cajun-spiced cream sauce pasta was certainly enjoyable. Their desserts were quite ostentatious, and a single chocolate mousse was fine for a group of (!) seven. I wouldn't want to tackle it with much less help than that. In the end, it's the sort of place I'm willing to spot the three stars instead of two because it's passable and one of limited options in a fairly remote area.

My boyfriend and I decided to try something new. We originally sat in the bar which just a little too loud (very vibrant bar scene) but they were able to easily move us to the dining area!!! We started off with the crab dip -AMAZING. It's not your usual crab dip, it's better. I had the crab cake entree. It was ever better than the crab dip!!!! I got 2 crab cakes, which I wasn't even expecting!!! It had giant pieces of crab meat and they were seasoned perfectly. The birds nest and potatoes I didn't care much for but I was stuffed anyways. My boyfriend had the bison burger! I'm vegetarian so I didn't try it but he said it was delicious!!! The service was really good. It was our servers first night serving alone but he did just fine!!!! We'll definitely be back!!!

The service was very good. She was very apologetic that they were out of lemons for the tea. We changed our drinks order, but she found them and brought the tea. she was attentive but did not rush our meal. The scollops were good enough that the wish was that they should be offered as a main dish. The prime rib was cooked just right. We will put Maggies on our list for a return visit.

Very good. The crab cake small plate was a bit pricey for what I got. My husband and son got the prime rib sandwich which they really enjoyed! The honey mustard salad dressing was fantastic!! I would go back there, but probably for the lunch menu

We love this pub. Great wings and soups. We're here a lot when we're in town. Always great service, a friendly smile, excellent food, fresh salads and our favorite all-around place in Westminster!
