A very friendly & accommodating wait staff made our Easter lunch a real treat. The food was outstanding and I look forward to returning. The only downside is the parking but hey, it's Carroll County - everything is built on a hill of sorts.

After reading through all the amazing reviews our hopes were high for this place. Unfortunately the meal was underwhelming. I had the pork loin, which was over cooked. The accompanying sauce and sides were bland. My wife had the chicken and stated that she's had better at chain restaurants. I'd skip this place. For the price, we expected so much more and were completely let down.

I was in town for a wedding and wanted to treat myself. Found this hidden gem on Yelp and truly enjoyed my dinner. I ordered a ribeye steak and the house salad. For dessert I tried their cranberry bread pudding. In all, I can say I was very satisfied and enjoyed the ambience. I was solo so it "seemed" like other tables received more attention. There seemed to be only one server so perhaps that was it? I wasn't impressed with the bread pudding but otherwise a great visit.

We just had a wonderful experience with our server, Brooke. We stopped in for lunch, having never been to this restaurant before. We had our 1 month old and 1 year old along. Service was leisurely, definitely the right kind for good food, even if you're just dropping in for a sandwich. My husband had the Swiss alps turkey sandwich, while I enjoyed the Englishman roast beef. Both were fantastic. The chicken satay was lovely, and the chicken fingers for our little guy were very good, obviously hand breaded. Even as our little guys became restless, Brooke was on point. She even took the our older guy around and introduced him to the other patrons just to make sure we could enjoy our food. We'll be back for more!

I have been to Bud's twice, with friends, and I must say, its one of those place where the food is genuine and tasty, the service is friendly and knowledgeable. Its really a nice restaurant to go and enjoy regional food. The setting is charming as well; the old train station I think. I cannot pass on the crab cakes, just one of those things I could have every day of the week; sadly, nothing even close to theirs around Montreal!

Ate here for the second time the other day (this time in the bar area) and it was awesome. if you are heading up to Gettysburg you HAVE to stop and eat here.

My mom and I have eaten at Bud's three times now on the way back to the Annapolis area from Gettysburg. Even though I live in New York, the owner remembered my name and my order on our second and third visits which were one and two years after our first visit, respectively. The food is simply divine - the best salmon I think I've ever had (and I've had a lot!) - and the wine selection is great. I just wish they had a location in Manhattan as I'm sure I would be there 3-4 times a week. I don't usually write online reviews, but Bud's is so consistently good and the ambiance consistently warm and friendly that it absolutely deserves the praise.

My sister and I arrived on a Friday at 7pm with pub fare in mind but the bar was full. We were politely invited to dine in the lovely restaurant seating. We were blown away by the delicious selection that we ordered. To begin, we had the grilled Caesar salad, which my sister's rave reviews proved true. Lightly seared, yet crisp wedge of lettuce with a smokey flavor, mixed with a cool dressing. Indescribably delightful. We enjoyed a wonderful selection of wine. The crab crostini was a great comfort food and left our plate fast. The fried pickles were also a home run. I have had fried pickles that were slimey, but these had a great coating. The dipping sauce was unexceptional. My favorite plate of the night was the seafood sauté. Scallops and shrimp atop crab risotto which was decadent and lovely. I could probably order that every time and die happy. The owner came to our table and was funny and inviting. The wait staff were not only patient and helpful but very friendly. While the dinner menu is pricey, check out the lunch and pub fare for budget friendlier options. While the dinner menu is pricey, I think that the items are fairly priced. I hope that the true foodies out there take the plunge and check out this spot because it is guaranteed to please. The Baltimore crowd will be happy to take a field trip to visit Bud's

In searching for a new restaurant to try, my wife and I checked out some online reviews. With the positive reviews on yelp and open table, we decided to give Bud's a try, booking our reservations online. As other reviewers had mentioned, we found a creek flowing through the parking lot. We had to laugh as we crossed it twice to get to the dining room entrance. Upon entering, the hostess met us with a smile on her face and led us to a cozy table near the fireplace. I knew right away that we could "own" that table for the night if we wanted to. We were first given the wine and drink menus. Bud's has a impressive list of both wines and microbrews. We were both happy with our selections. Once we were enjoying our drinks, our waitress provided the dinner menus. As can be seen online, the menu offers a variety of interesting and tempting dishes. My wife dared to try the beet salad and, for her entree, the sea scallops. I ordered the house salad to start and the crab cake for my entree. As we waited, we enjoyed our drinks with a basket of warm rolls served with butter as well as a small carafe of olive oil. My wife didn't know what to expect with the beet salad and found it had a sublte flavor. Although she enjoyed it, she wouldn't order it again. My house salad was fresh with just a little vinaigrette mixed in. When I asked how the scallops were, my wife's reply was "succulent". They were prepared just right and were paired nicely with fingerling potatos and asparagus. I also thoroughly enjoyed the crab cake. It had very little filler, plenty of flavor, and of a good proportion. It was also accompanied with the fingerling potatos and asparagus. For dessert, we avoided the temptation of their home made peanut butter pie and opted for fresh blackberry and strawberry based desserts. They were delicious and left us feeling comfortably full. We found our date night a very enjoyable evening. The dining room is elegant and cozy, the wait staff, friendly and knowledgeable.

We had been wanting to try Buds for awhile based on reviews and word of mouth. We went on a Friday around 645 and had made reservations but I dont feel like we really needed them for a 4 top. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, not too loud or quiet. Thr waitress was friendly and not overbearing which I like. The wine list was extensive, the draft beer was not and the bottles were expensive. $9 for a bottle of beer-are we at a Ravens game? I got the Maryland Crab soup to start and was not a fan. I heard the cream of crab was good though and the pumpkin. The salad also looked very generic. I got the scallops with fingerling potatoes, green beans, and kale. The scallops were cooked beautifully as were the green beans although I only got about five beans. The kale was kind of weird and the potatoes nothing special. The salmon looked delicious and was a good portion size. The chicken dish looked quite small for the price but I heard it was also good although they forgot his rice. I would go back but wouldn't be a regular.

What a fantastic surprise that is hidden in the countryside! The service was just excellent, and menu was very unique while also being amazing! The prices are on the high side, but that is a small obstacle for any true 'foodie'. Take a drive to the country and treat yourself!

We took the drive from Westminster to try this place and we were pleasantly surprised. We decided to eat in the Pub side, rather than the dining room. The host/manager (who knows, maybe it was Bud), was helpful and had a great sense of humor. There were two waitresses who flawlessly tended to the bar and the patrons seated in the dining area. We started with the crab soup which was amazing, then ordered the pork egg rolls which were also delicious. At the wait staff's recommendation, we tried the porterhouse for two. Yeah, we threw that down too. The food was very good, but I have to give props to the two gals who waited on us. We like wait staff who can laugh and joke. They were full of personality and extremely fun. If we venture back to the area, we will definitely make a stop at Bud's.

Excellent, given location. Don't let the outside fool you, this place is elegant on the inside, and would make a great place for a date, romantic evening, or just a nice dinner with friends. The decor and ambiance is such that you can dress up or dress down - your choice. My husband and I decided to check out Bud's for Carroll County restaurant week. I was highly skeptical, but everything was delicious. We both started with the sausage and grits, which was truly delicious. The grits are milled locally - actually, everything is local pretty much. So tasty. Next came local salads, also very good. For dinner, I had rockfish with corn & tomato salsa - perfetly done, very nicely presented. My husband had the ribeye, which was good, but typical. Dessert was peach foster with a scoop of ice cream. This was fresh and tasty, and not overly heavy like some desserts. There was a good selection of wine and beer. I would like to go back and try the bar menu, as it also looks excellent, but a lower price. I would have given the main dining room 5 stars except that I think the prices are just a tad high for the area.

Six of us were on our way to Washington, D.C., yesterday when the snow forced us to change our plans and I had to cancel our dinner reservations at Vidalia (one of my favorite restaurants in the city). As an alternative closer to home, someone suggested Bud's at Silver Run, and I had my doubts. We've passed that place many times, and I always thought it looked more like a roadhouse than a fine dining restaurant, which is what we were anticipating. But the couple in our group who had eaten there before recommended it, so we decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in, I thought the place had a nice feel. Simple, clean, elegant decor. The wine list was very good and the prices, not too high. (Our bottles of Layer Cake shiraz were only $28 apiece.) The menu was broad enough to appeal to everyone's palate, from chicken, steaks, prime rib, to salmon, corvina, scallops and more. It was when the entrees arrived that this restaurant, and it's staff, really distinguished themselves. All six plates were served simultaneously, with hot food. No need to tell the lucky ones to "go ahead and eat before your food gets cold" while the rest wait for their dishes. And much to my surprise, we all liked our choices very much ... not an easy thing to pull off with a six "foodies" to please. My prime rib was perfectly prepared, as was the bison, salmon, etc. The waitress was friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. Before we left, chef Ken came out to see us, and he mentioned he had some fresh asparagus that was not on the menu. When one of our group told him how she likes to prepare it, he shared his recipe, and then brought out a sample for her in a to-go box.. Nice touch! Bud's was a delightful find on a snowy evening. We'll be back!

Extraordinary! I have eaten here 3 times and each time is better than the last. The staff there is warm and friendly and the food is out of this world. Even my hubby (who is a glass half empty kind of guy) said he loved it! If you have never been and you are in the area try it. Let's support the local small businesses.

This review is long overdue! I was traveling with my extended family out of Washington, D.C. to visit Gettysburg, PA. We all had a wonderful time at the battlefield, but when the dinner bell rang we found ourselves hopelessly outnumbered in PA and looking at 2-3+ hour wait times to eat within the city limits. Disappointed, we turned back towards home and figured on a very late meal and travel on an empty belly. But... then we found Bud's. My mother-in-law was yelping this joint right as we were driving by and ordered a sudden stop. We all thought the place looked like a dive from outside, but it seemed to be well received online and we were all pretty desperate for food at the time and willing to take the chance. Really, really glad we did. Once we stepped inside, any misgivings we may have had about Bud's were erased by the warm atmosphere and pleasant service. Honestly, the experience reminded me not to 'judge a book by its cover'. Not only were our meals excellent - even by city standards - but the chef came out and helped to serve us personally, including making special arrangements for my fiancee who is vegan. They also offered an extraordinary wine list and operated a pretty smooth bar. Highly recommend to anyone traveling through the area or looking to escape the crowding of Gettysburg.

I love the food here. The owner has an ever changing special menu of just ordered, fresh items. He has great fish specials including Tuna & Rockfish (striped bass). He orders everything fresh & it is the daily special. Some think the prices are high but they are comparable to the prices at other restaurants. Some places in town are higher. I know that it keeps the riff-raff away. If your looking for a welcoming atmosphere everyone is very friendly. I hear he hired some new kitchen staff a month or two ago. This restaurant has some of the best food I have ever eaten. I love to eat out. There are two menus offered. A dining room menu & a pub menu. If eating in the bar area they usually offer the dining room menu also. Buds offers everything from Prime Rib to cheeseburgers. I have had both & they were cooked perfectly each time. Also on the menu are things like Chinese poppers, daily soups & real grit made at a mill down the road. If you get the chance, stop in & give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Went to Buds last night. Food was great as always. Service was very good even though the place was super busy. The soup of day was a seasonal spring duck that was out of this world. This is a great place and has always served some of the finest food that I have had. Creative specials are always a plus.

I've had the chance to eat at Bud's a few times since it opened, and each time I've had a fantastic experience. The restaurant offers the best of both worlds when it comes to dining - a laid back bar area separated from a beautiful upscale dining room. I've been there for a few meals with my family, but it would also be a great place to go for a special celebration, a romantic dinner, or even just for a few drinks with friends. The food is delicious. The menu offers a wide variety of choices for all tastes and price points. The bar menu has a number of great sandwiches - I've tried and loved the pulled pork, the crab cake, and the chicken salad so far! The chicken salad sandwich is especially delicious - it's given a hint of sweetness with the addition of mango and papaya, which the owner, Ken, told me is added to order so that it especially fresh and delicious. Today I also tried a bite of steak -- I don't usually order steak but the taste I had today was enough to make me change my mind for the future! It was by far the most juicy, tender, and delicious steak I've ever had. Many of the ingredients are bought locally and everything is fresh. The soup du jour today was an excellent example of this - a refreshing cucumber and tomato gazpacho that tasted like the ingredients had just come out of the garden. Overall, there is an attention to detail on display that adds a special, unique quality to even the most traditional dish. Bud's also has a tasteful variety of wines and beers to accompany any meal. Bud's offers an unpretentious, yet elegant, dining experience. The staff, especially Ken, is welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive. I look forward to going back many times!

We heard about this place from the Inn keeper where we were staying. The place at first glance looks just plain and dull from the outside. Once you get inside, it's very different, pretty upscale with beautiful color tones and paintings that are for sale, I presume by local artists. I don't know the norm, but the night we went, the whole process seemed different than what we are used to. There was no hostess stand and no hostess. We entered waiting to be greeted and that didn't happen. We waited for like 2 minutes and finally someone approached us, we were then escorted to our table by our waiter, which we found out later he was our waiter. We were served water by a busboy and we were given the wine list book and cocktail menu. No dinner menu. After about one minute we were asked what we wanted to drink. We gave him our drink orders, an ice tea for my wife and a beer for me. He then left to attend his other tables. After about another 5 minutes he returned with our drinks, no dinner menu, then he left. He was attending at least 6 tables all around us. Finally he stopped by and I asked him for dinner menus, which he brought to our table. Then about 25 minutes later, he came back to ask us what we wanted to eat. Oh in the mean time, the busboy dropped off fresh bread and hard butter. While we were waiting for the food, the owner came out to greet us and made small talk. After about 5 minutes he walked on to the next table and we waited another 30 minutes for our food to arrive. I know this, because I started my timer on my cell phone once he had taken our order. The one weird thing is that the only bathrooms are located in the middle of the dining room. The bar patrons have to come into the dining room to use the bathroom. Once the food arrived, it was worth the wait. My Filet Mignon was cooked perfect and you could cut it with a butter knife. I know because that's what I used, they didn't bring out a steak knife. The Yukon gold mashed potatoes were excellent. Just the right amount to make me full. My wife's crab cakes were cooked to perfection with lumps of Maryland crab cooked just right. The fingerling potatoes were very tasty. I'm giving them a 4 out of 5 because of the wait for the menus and food, but the food taste itself is a 5 out of 5. The owner came back to our table while we were eating to make sure everything was ok, which it was. Then he left to move onto the next table. I would recommend this place for the food, not so much for the process of waiting tables. Maybe it was an off night.

We ordered 2 apps for table of 4 and raved as we split them up. Then we argued over who ordered the best entree ... because it turned out we all did. Recommended. 5 stars given the category and location.
