First and foremost I love the ambiance of this coffeehouse. The decor and furnishings on the inside are creative, comfortable and warming. They have a pretty eclectic and vast menu compared to previous years and it's the only place in Westminster where I can get my lox bagel fix! They even have gluten free muffins and pastries as well as soy and almond milk alternatives for those with food allergies. The baristas are always friendly and welcoming when you walk in the door. I love coming here to get away for a little while. There are plenty of board games and books to use while you're there so a quick trip can turn into a few hour retreat!

Just like the old coffee shop which was here and I missed that one. Good coffee, pleasant employees, friendly atmosphere. Wish they had a bold coffee offering, but I am a bit odd and like very bold coffee.

My "go to" place for meetings, especially with new clients, when I want a relaxing place to chat. The coffee is always amazing, and I can't wait for the return of my holiday addiction to their eggnog lattes. I'm a bit of an oatmeal "snob", and their offering is simply delicious. It's crafted with lots of fixin's that add great crunch and flavor and topped with steamed milk. Heaven. While there, you're surrounded by great local art and occasional live music. No need to go to any Seattle chain or donut shop when you have this right downtown.

What a stellar find! Just looking for lunch while in Westminster for McDaniel college tour & we got lucky when we landed here for lunch. Gluten free bread & coconut cupcake - heaven! Also very friendly and cozy place to hang out.

Had a quick dinner here. Nice place, lot of room, friendly staff. Food was very good. Only comment is plates looked kind of empty with only the sandwich. Thought it would come with a few chips or a side.

Coming from Seattle Birdie's definitely feels a little like home. I like their custom drinks and haven't seem to run into one I don't like. Staff is friendly, enviornment is loose, and this is my coffee choice in Westminster.

I have been coming into birdies about 4-5 days a week since they opened. I love all their high quality coffees and drinks! The staff is so friendly and i love coming in to start my day talking to them! I even have a latte named after me now. :) The soups and sandwiches are hand made and you can tell. I would highly recommend a dirty chaii latte and the spicy tortellini soup!

Birdies has a wonderful atmosphere for hanging out with friends or studying with great food and coffee. The food menu is small but mighty. I haven't tried anything I haven't liked so far. My personal favorite is their veggie sandwich. It's delicious and u would recommend it to anyone. The coffee is also great. I have tried everything from the seasonal favorite to the regular menu items and have yet to be disappointed. I can't say I have a favorite for coffee because they are all great. This is the perfect spot for catching up with an old friend, doing homework, or just hanging out and relaxing...plus you get to have scrumptious food and coffee as well!

I really like Birdie's! Got the Oatmeal, which was a little too sweet, but rich and delicious still.

I ADORE THIS PLACE! Such a chill atmosphere, great coffee and I've never ordered something I didn't like. I take everyone here.

My wife and I have enjoyed Birdie's since we moved here or they opened, not sure which came second. Service has always been friendly, and even the last time we went when there was a trainee and it took a little longer than normal, everyone was friendly. Nutella latte is a favorite of my wife's and I've tried a few different flavored coffees that I've liked too. Excellent grilled cheese and breakfast food. The atmosphere is nice. We enjoy the local artists' work being displayed, not some crappy print you see everywhere. To be honest, I'm not the customer that is stereotypically in coffee shops hanging out, which Birdie's does have plenty of. But I've never felt uncomfortable because of that. There's plenty of times at other shops including the Starbucks Empire that have really gave an empty feeling at best. As to the other reviews, I'm pretty sure I paid with a credit card last time and almost ever time we've been there. Also as a business owner myself, I do understand why you may not see the owner front and center greeting everyone and "seemingly" happy to see everyone. I do enjoy other businesses where the owner is constantly visible, but do not expect it. I often am not seen in my business due to all the facets of the business that need to be done so that the employees are front and center, trained, friendly and can solve problems when necessary.

So so cute. A homey feel with kitschy details. I was impressed that they offered almond milk for lattes. Patio was a little cluttered but peaceful and quiet. Free parking in their lot and they brought my sandwich out to the patio for me. Also handicap accessible. Open later than most coffee places in the area. Truly feels like grandmas house. The Reuben panini was light but flavorful- good portion size. Latte was perfect. Staff is friendly. I even saw magazines in a stack on a bookcase- free for reading.

A nice place to stop for a sandwich and tasty beverage. Their coffees, lattes, and snowbirds are consistently delicious. It's one of the few places I can enjoy a gluten free deli sandwich, the owner orders hands down the must delicious and pleasingly textured GF I've had. Some of the baristas are more friendly than others, but the unfriendly ones stop shy of being rude. My kids love checking out the ever changing art on the walls. My only pro-tip would be to double check if they're planning on having live "entertainment" before you come in in the evenings. Since its small, they end up packed to the rafters with the family and friends of the "performers" leaving absolutely no room for anyone else. Also, the few times that we've decided to stick around for the performance despite the standing room only it's been interesting, but not in a "wow, I really enjoyed that!" kind of way.

So happy we discovered Birdies! Sherry charmed us with her passionate commitment to quality food & delish espresso, and Lance made a righteous Gouda Buddha panini and black bean burger. And all found in a quaint Main Street bungalow. We will definitely be frequent flyers!

Good coffee. Macchiato is pretty good with minimal sediment. Americano was a touch weak, but very smooth. Oatmeal raisin cookie was delicious but I wish it was warm... :)

Great coffee drinks, toasted marshmallow latte is amazing! The people are friendly but service is a bit slow. Their food options are also pretty limited.

I used to visit pretty often (although one barista blatantly did not categorize me as a "regular" although I visited once or twice a month). The coffee is good, the staff is hit or miss, and the owner is either introverted or uninterested in being friendly to patrons (I have visited between 30 to 40 times in the past year and she has never said hi or been friendly, although I have seen her speak to other guests on occasion). Used to have irresistible cookies but I believe their baker has changed and their replacement doesn't quite hit the mark or the "sweet spot" like the last one. Tried a BLT once, no complaints (7 out of 10) I would eat here again. Coffee: good/typical independent owned quality, not the best, but worth it to support local business; prices are reasonable Baked goods: selection varies, muffins, cookies, cinnamon rolls Food: only tried BLT, it was a worthy purchase Atmosphere: Haven for local art and artists. Employees and owner tend to take the more comfortable areas in the back and leave the hard tables and chairs for guests. The other patrons, especially the regulars, are not friendly at all. No eye contact, no smiles. Maybe it's just an artist thing, but I get the feeling the place is a douche magnet. I actually heard someone rudely discussing what a pathetic coffee order I'd placed--within earshot of me-- to their comrade, and I decided that was the last straw, I wouldn't spend my money at a place that hosts such rude individuals. Overall: I miss coffee shops where the owners and baristas are friendly, and ask you more than what you want to drink. Maybe that's a Michigan thing. I give it a 2 out of 5 because I'd rather go somewhere local that has friendly people in it, or frankly, to Starbucks. **update-the cheerful baristas at the local Starbucks have learned my name; not so bad for a corporate joint.

I have been coming to Birdie's Cafe since they opened just two years ago. I started coming on the recommendation of a close friend and was impressed with the quality and variety of coffee, espresso and unique food. I continue to patronize Birdie's because of their amazing quality, but also because of the friendly staff, interesting patrons and overall atmosphere. The owner has done a spectacular job attracting great employees who have been around since the cafe opened and they have together created an environment that is warm, welcoming, accepting and extremely diverse. Birdie's features a new local artist every two months, hosts musicians, an open mic music and poetry night, belly dancers and a plethora of artists, who contribute to the the overall incredible atmosphere. THANK YOU for having a place like this is our wonderful small town!

Atmosphere is cool, coffee is okay, though they should consider accepting credit cards for a cup of coffee since it's all people carry these days.

Whenever I get coffee in westminster I usually go to Birdies. The staff is always very pleasant. The coffee is very good. Usually I try different favors of lattes, coffees, etc although they all taste pretty similar. It's almost hard to distinguish the difference. The prices are probably what you would pay for at Starbucks. But they also seem to have a really good breakfast food selection. The omelets especially look good. My boss and I meet usually every Tuesday and she likes to get the egg white omelet.

I love this place. Great decor, diverse menu, delicious coffee and special coffee drinks. Cozy, colorful, artistic space, free wifi, friendly staff... I live in NYC and this place reminds me of the best coffee local coffee shops of the 90s. A must-visit every time i come to Westminster (which is sem-regularly, as the BF is from here).

My first visit was in Dec. 2012 and the espresso drinks were good and cookies tasty! Enjoyed the homey atmosphere, the staff wasn't memorable. So this past Sat. morning I wanted to patronize this business again and hope for another good espresso drink and see if my boyfriend would like their coffee. We stood at the counter for about 3 full minutes or longer without a greeting or even any staff in sight!! Appalling!! We just walked out!!

Came here for the first time with my boyfriend for breakfast and coffee. Really nice ambience inside, but ridiculously hard to read menu(s) on the wall(multiple chalkboards in 3 spots surrounded by pieces of hand-drawn specials taped all over). Thankfully there wasn't a line. The cashier was friendly. I asked her if soy milk was available for my coffee and she said yes. I ordered an omelette and toast and the boyfriend unit ordered a egg sandwich and a latte. When I came to get my coffee I had asked the owner if there was soy milk on the counter with the rest of the coffee add-ins. She was put off and said "did you ask for it?" and I said I asked if it was available, to which she replied "we charge extra for that" and went and got a nearly empty quart container of Silk (y'know that crap is expensive...like 1.50 a quart.. but hey I have a milk problem) and slammed it down in front of me and walked off. I poured the tablespoon left into my coffee. I never got hassled at any cafe (franchise or small) for asking for a milk alternative to *add* to a regular cup of coffee. They sit out a container for me, I add a tiny amount and give it back. I didn't order a latte/chai/etc or I knew I would pay extra. WTF. Anyhow, our food was good and filling and the cashier was nice but the owner is a real peach and that interaction has discouraged me from wanting to patronize this place again.

Great little cozy place. The egg sandwiches are a tasty value. I'm not a coffee connoisseur, but what they serve is fine by me.

We stopped in on a drive through Westminster based solely on yelp reviews. Great little spot tucked in main st. We split the veggie sandwich and chicken and dumpling soup, both were great! There were many other feat alternatives on their menu, must try the pretzel roll! Drinks looked good although we didn't get any. They try to use local foods as well. The atmosphere is fun and quirky with local art on the walls. Def a place I will visit again when I'm in the area!

I've been wanting to visit Birdie's Cafe on East Main Street, Westminster, since I landed back in the area several months ago, and finally, this morning, I got my chance. It was a lovely morning and we arrived just after 9 a.m. and ordered egg sandwiches and teas. The sandwiches come on your choice of breads - My hubby and I chose the sourdough - and it was truly a wonderfully made and substantial sandwich. And the Darjeeling tea was warm and refreshing as well, served in a great big glass mug! A big THUMBS UP for real dishes! The setting reminds me of Victorian times although the Hubby says it's probably a little more modern than that architecturally. Still, they had it warmly decorated for Christmas and it was one of those places where I found myself "HAPPY" for no discernible reason. I don't find myself in that frame of mind much these days. But just being there gave me a sense of peace and happiness. I hope to go back again really soon and I recommend it anyone who needs a little respite from the mad world we live in! A huge thank you to the friendly and pleasant staff for helping to make my day!

really great atmosphere. Their ingredients are good quality as well. All I gotta say is if you're in the area and are in the situation I was in (desiring a quick place to eat that's not a chain like Panera, chick fil a, so on...), then this is definitely worth trying.

This place was super cute, with great food and a great atmosphere. Much better than the chain restaurants in the rest of Westminster.

As a regular to Birdies Cafe (meaning that I am there once or twice per week or more), I have always found the staff and owner to be super friendly, as well as most of the customers. I have had more interesting conversations and met more interesting people here than I have met anywhere else in Westminster (or even in the greater Baltimore area). The cafe itself (the decor, and the furniture) are really comfortable. The fact that they support local artists by making their work part of the decor is really awesome. The food is good, and fresh, and there are more options for vegetarians than there are in similar places around the area. They carry both soy AND almond milk for their drinks, the almond milk choice just really sends things over the edge for me. Their coffee roaster is fairly local, as is their baker, and I believe it is important for local businesses to support other local businesses. All in all, I highly recommend Birdies, and if you go there, you won't be sorry!
