Was passing through the area on business recently and found this place on Yelp so stopped in. It's on a side street just off of the town center with street parking, a small lot and a municipal lot across the street. I parked right out front. When I walked in (9am ish on a Wednesday) there were 3 tables occupied. I sat at a high top to the side. There was one woman working the front and it appeared that there were a few people out back. Each place setting had the metal utensils in a small sanitary paper bag. Odd. Service was efficient, coffee was decent and refilled. I got 2 eggs over medium, bacon, homefries and wheat toast. Eggs were cooked perfectly and bacon was thick and crisp. Home fries were big chunks of potatoes that were deep fried. They were tasty. Near the front counter was a salad bar and buffet station stuck in the corner for use later in the day. That was odd as were the crocheted ice pop holders for sale on the counter. All in all a solid breakfast to which I would return.

More like a 3.5. Simple country restaurant with tasty food. Pros 1. Awesome scrapple. Perfect flavor and crisp on the outside and smooth and moist on the inside. 2. Homemade bread. Cons 1. Egg and bacon portion is a bit on the small side. 2. 1 waitress for a packed back room. She was nice though and was working as fast as she could.

The broasted chicken is all that and then some, crisp, dark and awesome. From what I read in the reviews, that's what most people rave about and they are correct. So what exactly is broasted and does it actually involve bros? The answer is broasting is the method essentially combines pressure cooking with deep frying chicken that has been marinated and breaded. It involves specialty trademarked equipment only sold within the industry. It's apparently super popular in the Middle East, who know they were crazy for fried chicken. I plan to fly out there and introduce waffles too and pretend like it was my original idea. I'm not gonna lie, this was darn good fried chicken. For $9.95, I basically got a whole chicken (4 pieces) on my plate. It also comes with potato wedges, which are realistically potato halves, or accurately just a whole potato nearly, cause they are huge and kinda hard to eat, because they are cut too wide they don't get fully crispy or cooked through. Just mushy potatoes, which I saved for the dog. You're also given your choice of two sides as well or a trip to the salad bar. Seeing what people brought back from the salad bar, I would actually opt for the salad bar that was fully loaded. I ended up getting crescent apples (which is basically dessert) and amish cucumber salad. We also got the crab pretzel (skip it, it's just a lot of cheese on a pretzel bun with some crab served with tartar sauce) and bacon cheese waffle fries (don't skip that). As the name describes it is very much a country kitchen. A great stop before or after a hiking trip to the Catoctin Mountains.Filled with locals. While our lunch was ok, I think it's a better idea to stop in here for breakfast based on the menu and the dishes we were seeing around us.

Fast and friendly service in a family place that is also the only place in Town open after 5pm. Great seafood and southern comfort food (country fried steak, liver and onion, heavy starch sides, etc) but very good prices. If passing through to Gettysburg or Fredrick down US15 it is a great place to stop and eat!

Along with another couple- we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner this eve at the Kountry Kitchen- they are deservedly known for their moist and delicious pressure cooked crispy chicken-and on Sundays it's buy one chicken dinner and get the second half off- friendly waitress- inexpensive- good old fashioned American style cooking

This place is a GEM. The "broasted" chicken was perfectly cooked with fanatically crispy skin. The corn fritters were sweet and sublime. The apple cinnamon pancakes were second to none. If you're in the area, give this place a try. The food is truly delicious.
