Quite the large space.. Threw us off at first. Sat down on an early Saturday evening. Steamed dumplings are a must. Shrimp egg rolls were delicious as well. The wifey got Veggie chow fun noodles and I got the Hunan pork. Both were very well sized and absolutely delicious. Will be returning to try their dim sum.

Went for my first visit on Sunday afternoon and the place was almost filled. The dim sum was great and their service was excellent! Friendly people + stunning decorations!

I lived in china for one year and that's all it took me to fall in love with all dim sum types! I was so excited when I read about this place and decided to go there just to check but I completely enjoyed it! The environment is similar to the one in China and they have a lot of options for dishes! Just watch out because as soon as you seat they start bringing lots of dishes for you! It's ok to take your time and read the menu first, don't grab everything they bring to your table :) I just didn't like that they have some "only weekends" dishes and I wasn't aware of it :( I really wanted some more shrimp wonton.

Due to lack of Chinese, or anything Asian in the Baltimore Area... This place gets my 5 stars. Chopstix is probably as authentic as you can get to real Chinese food in Baltimore. They even offer a Dim Sum menu alongside the dim sum carts that shuttle around. I have yet to try the dinner menu as I went for the dim sum, and if the dinner menu is anything like the dim sum menu, then this will be my definite go to place for Chinese foods on any occasion. The atmosphere here is really nice and definitely feels very grand. The reason for this is most likely due to the audience they are trying to cater to. They are trying to cater to customers of Horseshoe Casino. There are signs advertising shows and free shuttle service to and from the casino. Asian Plaza, which is the name of the building that houses this restaurant has big plans. We are talking Karaoke (2 rooms currently are active), Spa, Massage, and plans to create a Grocery/Supermarket that will blow HaHa Foods out of the water. ps... they have both madarin and cantonese speaking servers.

Finally!! A Dim Sum place in Baltimore City!! Prior to Chopstix Gourmet, the closest location to decent quality dim sum was Silver Springs, MD. Now that Chopstix Gourmet opened (2/2015?), I can get my dim sum fix any weekend. Like many of the other reviewers mentioned, this dim sum is not comparable to LA or HK. However, I would say the quality of the dim sum is comparable to the Oriental East restaurant in Silver Springs, MD --- and you save yourself the hour drive down. The price is a bit more expensive than your usual dim sum restaurants - I'd say about $1 more for each dish. For example, prices average from around $2.95 to 4.95 depending on what you're getting. I got all the dishes to go so I can't comment on the service. The cleanliness and decor is above average and way better than your typical Chinese restaurant. The place is PACKED on a Sunday morning (11:30am), so I would recommend coming early if you want to avoid a wait. From what I can tell, the management is quite good at moving the tables along. Overall, a great place to go for your dim sum craving in Baltimore city. It's slightly more expensive than your usual dim sum restaurant but the quality is good.

Finally, we could have a good dim sum in Baltimore. The food here is very good. Especially, pork stomach soup which is really hard to find in Chinese restaurant in the USA. They also have durian roll that is so awesome for the one who miss the durian taste and smell. Price is reasonasmell. Good service. 5 stars.

Pros: + Delicious food + Unique options (e.g. coconut jelly pudding) + Wide, clean space with ample seating + No wait (when coming here around 10:30am on Sunday) Cons: - Gets pretty packed around lunchtime, so the wait may be longer later in the day Came here with a party of 4 at around 10:30am on Sunday (their dim sum hours are from 10am to 3pm on Sundays; on weekdays, it's 11am to 3pm). Since they open at 10, we were one of the first ones here so we didn't have to wait to be seated. The carts weren't out that early, so we started by ordering food off a sheet. We ordered more when the carts came around later. We had a lot of different things, including the usual (e.g. chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, pork buns, black bean spare ribs, beef ribs, turnip cake, taro dumpling), and also coconut jelly pudding - something I had not encountered at a dim sum place before. We ate the coconut pudding at the end of our meal. It was cool and refreshing and had a nice coconut flavor without being overly sweet. The taro dumplings were deep-fried on the outside with taro and meat filling. They were amazing and one of my favorites. The beef ribs were super tender and savory. The chicken feet melted in my mouth. I was somewhat disappointed that the turnip cake didn't come with any sauce, but it was still yummy (not too salty or greasy). I always felt like Baltimore was missing a good dim sum place, but this place seems to fill that gap quite nicely. It's still new, but I hope they are able to maintain this quality of food and service in the long term. I will certainly come back to eat again!

Excellent dim sum with good variety. They push carts here but you can also order off a menu for dishes you don't see on the carts. Overall a little bit pricy but good in terms of taste. Small 2.95 Medium 3.45 Large 3.95 Special 4.45

Can't believe this place only has 2 reviews. My friends and I were trying to keep our expectations low in case this place wasn't very good, but it was amazing!! It's located in a big building out in the middle of nowhere, which they apparently are trying to turn into a plaza (looked like they're working on a barber place, a store to sell Chinese pottery, etc.) I came with a party of 4 just before 11 on a Sunday for dim sum. We were one of the first ones there, but by the end of our meal, the place was PACKED. The restaurant itself is huge--tall ceilings, booths along the edges, and there's even tables on a stage, like for a banquet. We ordered on a dim sum sheet, but the carts also came around. We had so many things: steamed spare ribs, steamed and baked BBQ pork buns, shao mai, shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, beef tendon, lotus leaf sticky rice (with meat, sausage, and a salty duck egg yolk), shrimp rice noodles, turnip cake (didn't come with sauce though), tripe, taro dumpling. They had a ton of other things that we didn't order because we were so full. For dessert, we got egg tarts (large, perfect crust, sweet custardy filling), fried sesame balls filled with lotus paste, and the coconut pudding (which was SO GOOD, light, creamy, full of coconut flavor). Overall, most dishes range from $3-5 each, so it can add up quickly, but the quality of all the food was pretty spot on. Come early b/c seating can get tight!

As I've previously stated in another review, you can tell if a place is authentic based on the people who frequent it. I've only been to this location a few times; and every time I've been, there have always been crowds of Chinese people, which leads me to believe that it's a legit Chinese restaurant. We went here for my parents' impromptu anniversary dinner because our original choice had a very long wait. My siblings ordered a variety of sushi, while my parents and I each ordered a super meal. Our servers were very attentive and our food was good as usual. The sushi was even presented all fancy - a first for any of us and we've been to Chopstix many times, albeit not this location. One of the managers recognized me from the Perry Hall location and gave us egg tarts for free! I've been here for the dim sum as well, and I recommend the shumai, crispy shrimp balls, and congee. The menu is weirdly translated, though; if you're familiar with dim sum, you have to ask for what you want by name. They'll also gladly make something not available in the dim sum carts. Just let your server know. I'll definitely be visiting this location more often, since it's closer and I feel like it's a more authentic experience than their other location.

I wanted to wait to review until I had time to try both dim sum and dinner. Both are very reasonably priced. Dim sum gets packed. If you are not there at opening, prepare to wait. They have all the favorites and you'll be surprised at the space. Definitely don't judge this book by its' cover. There is also a garage around the back. Keep this place in business, as we have limited Chinese options in Baltimore.

There is FINALLY good dim sum in Baltimore. Chopstix Gourmet is basically an oasis in a desert of nonexistent dim sum. To my knowledge, only places in Silver Spring or further away have high-quality dim sum in the area, which is a pretty far drive. This place FINALLY fixes that in a big way. Chopstix Gourmet is located in what I'd call the "semi-bad" part of Baltimore - it's basically a stone's throw from a bunch of strip clubs and adult video stores. That's kinda okay, because lots of Baltimore is like that, but it may lead you to believe that the food will be questionable. Thankfully, this is anything but the case. Chopstix's interior is phenomenal. It's immaculately clean, obviously very new (looks like they might be building a barbershop and pottery studio soon?), and very expensive. The granite flooring, huge statues, and beautiful wood help accentuate what would otherwise just be a restaurant in a warehouse. In fact, I'd say the warehouse-like location is a major plus - there's plenty of space for a ton of diners, though the restaurant did seem packed notwithstanding the space. Someone dropped some serious cash on this place, and it shows. The dim sum here is superb. Everything was fresh, tender, and obviously well made. The prices are a hair more than what you'd pay at cheaper places in Virginia, but the quality shows, so the price is worth the effort. You don't get the "bun stuffed with junk meat" feel here - you get the feeling that this is food they'd serve family. That's rare, and that's awesome. I highly recommend any of the meat buns, any of the dumplings, the custard buns, the coconut jelly pudding, and the BBQ. Honestly, even though I live near a lot of other dim sum places in DC, I can see this being my go-to place for dim sum. It's that good.

The dimsum is very good. It was tasty and not greasy. The food is affordable. Although it gets really busy during lunch time and weekends but the wait is not that long. Hopefully they have more dim sum carts to move around during lunch time. I like their shumai, shrimp steamed noodles, shrimp fried noodles, and chicken feet.

Great dim sum...mediocre service, mediocre ambiance. TV for your watching pleasure. Prices reasonable. Hidden in an industrial-esque area but once you know it, it's easy to get to.

Have been here three times already and learned a few things during each trip: - get there at 11:00 on a Saturday, the carts are usually rolling by then and all the dishes we love are out on the floor. If you get there too early, the carts take a while to roll out and you'll have to wait. - you can ask for oolong tea (if you're into it) - treat it like you would dim sum in Chinatown or Flushing, NY... ask if they don't have something on the carts you want, wave down a server, bring your ticket with you and pick off the cart (this is for true Chinese only!) - they do have all the favorites, just ask if you don't see it. - they all speak or understand Cantonese. Use your skills if you have them, you get much better service! I'm from Long Island so this is wonderful to have here. Have only had their dim sum and some sushi so far. Sushi wasn't so hot. Wasn't as full of fish as I like and the roll was poorly constructed. I recommend Sushi Hana if you want great sushi with an abundance of fish for a great price.

Ugh, it's okay. Some of the dishes are interesting and at least very authentic-looking (shrimp rolls wrapped with bacon, durian rolls, a variety of pastries and sweet curds, and different types of chicken feet) . However, some of them are a little too sweet for my taste; and I don't like sweetness in my savory foods. I love egg tarts and of course had to have one while I was here. It was big but not very good. The place is also in a warehouse-like building and in a semi-sketchy area that looks like an industrial zone. There was no one walking in that neighborhood when we went on Sunday. Considering I have to drive an hour to get to this place, I don't see myself coming back. I think I much prefer stuff like the pork and shrimp shumais and dumplings at China Garden, which is much closer anyway.

So in all honesty, I'm giving it five stars because this is baltimore and there is NO dim sum places around. If this were another major city, it'd be more something between a three or four stars. The dimsum is good. Not amazing but they have all the basics and more you'd expect from a dim sum place and they are overall quite tasty and authentic. I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was CROWDED. And you can tell that this is fairly an authentic place by 1) I saw more Asians in one place than I will EVER see in all of baltimore and 2) all the ladies with the carts would not stop speaking to me in Cantonese. Overall, there's fAirly a variety of choices. Their egg tart is the best I've had in a while. And their dimsum sTisfied my asian craving. If you've been to anywhere in la or New York, it will pale. But overall it will do the trick and you will leave quite satisfied.

There aren't many dim sum places around the Baltimore area, and I had been hearing from several people about this place opening up. This place is found in the Rosedale area and is affiliated with the Chopstix restaurant in Perry Hall. I didn't know what to expect when I was heading over there. When I arrived, it was in a brick building and conveniently there is a parking garage inside it. It's not the typical look of what I expected for a Dim Sum restaurant. But when I walked inside, I was very impressed by the decoration and ambient environment. I rarely see this kind of setup in a restaurant; there were statues, red balloon lanterns, Chinese calligraphy on the wall, etc. The venue is pretty large - enough to hold a Chinese banquet, very clean and spacious, and can fit several parties. This is a traditional dim sum place where they roll the carts out to you. They have the usual staples for Dim Sum (har gow, shu mai, steamed BBQ pork buns, cheung-fun, sticky rice, steamed spareribs, tripe, etc). These dishes were all good but they also have some dishes that I've never seen before in a dim sum restaurant such as crispy durian roll, coconut pudding, and black sesame cake - these were really good! I would definitely come back to this restaurant again in the near future! They also have sushi (Another big plus) which I'm hoping to try out from them as well.

I am so excited to have an authentic Asian food in Baltimore. It is located in an odd place but it is only 10 minute drive from Canton and it is well worth the adventure. You can get Dim Sum everyday of the week and their offerings are pretty extensive. I have also tried their dinner and they are good at Cantonese style dishes. I also love how their staff are friendly and attentive. I hope this place stays in business. Planning to go as often as I can!

In the desert that is Baltimore Asian food, lies this precious oasis out in Rosedale. They served the best dim sum that I have had in a year. Their dishes are all dim sum classics, but done quite well. For example, their BBQ pork buns have decent quality meat inside, in contrast with low quality dim sum places that give you the cheapest fattiest pork. The rest of their dishes were also not too greasy, which was nice. Other standouts include their tofu skin wrapped around shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp, and shumai. Pleasantly unusual for a Chinese restaurant, service was nice and helpful. I will be back!

Best dim sum in the Baltimore area by far! I'm so glad that someone who knows how good dim sum should be made opened a place in this area. Much better than what's available in the city and even the Catonsville/Ellicott city area. Not the best dim sum I've ever had but compared to its competitors in terms of flavor, freshness, and variety of selection, it's great. That in itself earns the five star rating. Service can be slow at times and the ladies pushing the carts need more training. They come up to the table all at once when you sit down but then cease to come by until you start calling them over. Otherwise, the experience is fine. I've only come here for dim sum (many times since their grand opening!) and plan to return to try their regular menu and sushi.

This place is awesome. I have been wishing, waiting, hoping that a dim sum restaurant would open closer to me than Ellicott City and I FINALLY got my wish. I've had dim sum in many cities and this was great. Not as large as the huge halls in New York, but there is a variety of dishes and everything tasted very fresh. Plenty of carts coming around so you never feel neglected or hungry. We brought two friends that had never tried dim sum and they were really impressed. Try the durian roll. IT's made from a smelly, pungent fruit, but once it was fried it had a good taste and interesting texture. I was impressed with the amount of employees speaking English. Other restaurants have employees that don't speak any English or minimal English at best, which is fine, because I realize I'm eating a different cuisine. Usually the carts have a picture and we can get by with pointing and it's fine. However, everyone here spoke at least ok English and some people spoke perfect English and sound like they were born here, this is a big plus when you have questions about the food or want to know what's in it. Everyone we encountered was super friendly and helpful. This place is going to catch on like wildfire once people find out about it. It's in an industrial location and not visible from the main road.

This place has great dim sum for those living in Baltimore, that don't want to drive to DC or Philly. The Har Gau, Shu-Mai, and Lo Mai Gai are all wonderful. Try the Beef Chow Fun, if you want to venture off the Dim Sum menu. I can't believe a restaurant so close to Dundalk could actually be good.

Well, I didn't get to check out Awesome Con this weekend : ( but I did get to have some good Dim Sum at least! I've been looking forward to trying this place out since I bookmarked it a little while back, and was NOT disappointed. For an ABC/Twinkie like me (American-Born Chinese/Yellow on the outside, White on the inside), this place had pretty rockin' Dim Sum. All my favorites were showing up in the carts, and some I haven't even seen before. (If it looks good, get it!) My mother, on the other hand, thought it was just ok / not bad, but methinks she is a bit of a food snob! The location is an interesting choice for a restaurant (it's in a warehouse / industrial park), it kinda makes you feel like you're in the know on something cool, or you're about to get in an exclusive club, lol. So glad to finally have good Dim Sum in Baltimore . Definitely going back!

WOW!!! I love this place. This truly is one of the rare places in Baltimore. Not having the need to traffic the distance to enjoy delightful authentic dim sum. If you live in Baltimore area, one would not have to go to far away places like Rockville or Philly to enjoy some fresh and authentic food. The waiter said that they have dim sum 7 days a week. I could see myself coming here during lunch breaks and perhaps weekend with family and friends. The listing of menu selections meets our expectations. The atmosphere is modern, and yet have the traditional appeal. And last but not the least, in the front entrance, there you can buy a variety of pastries. The durian roll tastes delicious for sure -- something that you don't find in most places. Keep up the good work. I hope to see an authentic Chinese dinner menu in this place sometimes soon.

Thank you, Chopstix Gourmet... Thank you for bringing legitimate dim sum within the confines of Baltimore. I am moved to tears (okay... just dramatizing, but really...) Note: Don't compare this place to NYC or LA. Think long and hard about what your options are within driving distance from Baltimore, let alone within Baltimore itself. Likes: * Cleanliness and decor. Many Chinese restaurants fail at these things, but Chopstix Gourmet is very clean, and the furniture, decor, etc., makes it seem almost fancy. * Space. Don't fret. For now, lines won't be a problem (please don't make it one in the future...) There are TONs of seating available, and several large tables for big groups. * Options. This isn't your dim sum wannabe with limited choices. No, in fact, you'd see all the staples, and MORE! * Quality. Yes, you'd be reminded of the last good dim sum place you've been to. They don't really mess things up here. * Legitimacy. You don't order. Staff will be pushing dim sum carts around the restaurant, making sure each table gets a chance to see what they can order. Once you see the rare item you wouldn't expect here, you'll know... * Bakery. They have a Chinese bakery right outside the dining area. * Karaoke. Haha, yea... there's an app (woops, I meant room) for that too. * Prices. What you'd expect. Inexpensive.

People need to know about this gem of a place. The food is authentic & delish. We got the dinner menu, so the dimsum we had was only the steamed pork dumpling in the appetizers menu but it set the tone for the rest of the meal. The shrimp tempura was crispy and fresh. The Fujian noodles need more flavor, I think, though. We got a free durian roll that made us pass up on the green tea ice cream we were hoping to try. We will be back for the dimsum.

This place is awesome and the best kept secret in Baltimore! Seriously - have traveled and checked out TONS of dim sum places internationally and in the states. You want authentic dim sum state-side - you've got it!!

  • Vicky D.

This place is actually pretty authentic. First of all, it's a huge restaurant in a random business park. There's a bakery and sushi bar attached to the restaurant, but the main dining room is where all the action is at. We went on a weekend when they were pushing the hot food carts around. Almost all the staff speaks English very well, so you don't have to just point to things to order (although if you're not sure what it is then you will probably end up doing that anyway). There is also a specials menu and a regular menu you can order off of. We shared beef chow fun which was a gigantic portion and couldn't even finish it between 7 of us. All the dim sum was good (hot and fresh): shu mai, steamed turnip cake, sticky rice, ribs; all were delicious! If you are looking for a particular dim sum platter that is on the menu but you don't see anyone with it, have patience or ask your waiter. Sometimes they don't have all of the dishes (for example we waited and waited for shrimp in the rolled flat noodle, but it didn't come around until we were stuffed and paying our bill). The only dishes nobody liked much were the shrimp ball with tofu and another one with eggplant. Will definitely come back!

Chopstix gourmet is in the strangest location and in the strangest building, but it is the new undisputed dim sum king of Baltimore. It is located among warehouses and has massive casino ads, but the decor and remodel inside is actually really nice. I believe they serve dim-sum daily until 3PM (with some special dishes only on weekends). It's really nice to not have to make the journey out to ellicott city for my dim sum fix. They do all the classic dishes well with good flavor, including shumai, ha cherng, har gow, bbq pork bun, spare ribs, tripe, etc etc. The only disappointment was that the congee was too watery, and they don't serve douhua (the tofu dessert) which is my favorite. Very reasonable prices, waiters all speak english, and the carts go around enough to keep your table full.

Behind the sea of carryout joints in Baltimore serving orange chicken, fried rice, and lo mein lies Chopstix, the only Chinese restaurant I've found serving authentic dishes in Charm city so far since moving from the Rockville area. IMHO the dim sum here is better than any of the joints in the DMV area and it has yet to be discovered by the Lao wais. The restaurant seems to be an anchor in a building that will soon be filled with other businesses catered to the Asian community, like a hair salon and a bus service of course, to the casino. There is also a Chinese bakery inside serving bread from Corner Bakery (even though I prefer bread from Maria's)--it's still a plus one for Baltimore.

The food was delicious. I've been on two separate occasions, once for the regular menu and the second time for Dim Sum. Both times the staff was very nice and the food was delicious. The prices are great and the good is better. I will go back again.

This place is awesome! Dim sum was great. One of my qualms is when the dishes get cold. Not here, everything was piping hot. They had all the traditional foods but also some new stuff I hadn't tried before. My parents ordered fried durian that was wrapped sort of like a spring roll. It was so good! It's that stinky fruit but my parents said they had heard good things. It did not disappoint! It's so exciting to have our own dim sum in Baltimore without having to go to Silver Spring or Route 40. Chinese people are buzzing about this place! Oh and they have plans on opening a large grocery store in the building. And also do the hanging roast pork and duck. Lastly... They have a deal with Horseshoe Casino where they shuttle Asians to this restaurant if they get hungry while gambling and then they send them back to the casino.

For Baltimore, this is good and the prices are reasonable. The dim sum here is actually pretty good. Not like NYC/SF/LA good but close and the great thing is, folks in the Baltimore area don't have to drive down to Wheaton etc. The dim sum is just as good. We had the shrimp crepe noodles, beef crepe noodles, cow stomach with radish, egg tart, shrimp dumplings, shui mai, lotus sesame balls, fish/shrimp dumpling, short ribs, tripe, glutinous rice, and chicken feet. I think I left off one thing. The egg tarts were very good. The chicken feet were tender and fall off the bone. The tripe could have used more seasoning. I definitely would return for dim sum. If I remember correctly, even the tea was free. Some places in DC charge for tea. I am looking forward to the other businesses opening in that plaza especially the aquarium store! I am curious how dinner service is. I'll have to try that next.
