Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

An experience not to be missed! Great food and wait staff. Biggest problem for me is deciding what to order from extensive menu. Everything is well worth ordering! Try to meet Brian, the owner.

I love this place! Whenever I would lock myself out the house I would sit here and do my homework until my mom got off work. I loved the family atmosphere of the place and the Greek salad, pizza, and French fries.

The pizza is AMAZING! Very friendly staff especially if you meet Brian. Haven't had anything bad from here, even the breakfast is good. Been coming here since I was a child and although the menu had added more items the staples are still here. My family still comes in from town demanding pizza oven.

Love this place. Hidden gem in Riverdale. Lovely Lovely staff! I enjoy the chili dog and onion rings. Please try them out!

Decent thin crust pizza that's topped to order and ready in like 5 minutes. While you're waiting, enjoy the tons of kitch that line the walls and ceilings of the restaurant. It's even on the tables. Interesting. I liked it. Local business, speedily prepared and well topped. Not exactly my *favorite* pizza, but it was still quite good. It's right off the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. If the traffic sucks (and when doesn't it?), then make a stop here to wait it out.

Taste & service was very good! The only slight problem was pizza crust stuck to paper but I would bring to their attention next time. Yes I will order from here again.

I found the pizza a little better than frozen, and the wings not something to come back for. How disappointing!! There has to be better pizza in the area.

I am not going to review the food. It is not bad, but not mind blowing. You just need to go here to experience the overall decor and ambience. There are literally hundreds of baseball caps hanging all over the place, and craploads of memorabilia lining the joint. A pulled pork sandwich for $1.58? Okay, cool, I will take four. Right now, I am eating a loaded cheese steak, a hot mess, but real tasty, with surprisingly great bread. Brian Boileau started it in 1958 and at one point he had 14 other locations. He's probably in his late 70s. I hear him now bantering with the customers and workers. His restaurant is a living, evolving work of art and love. It has been here for 57 years, and I think you should, on this account alone, give it a try. It's the last of a dying breed around here.

I love this pizza. It's always good. They accept cash only and it's in a bad neighborhood but it's worth going there for the pizza.

I stopped in yesterday and ordered a Cheeseburger to go and missed my bus and deciced to just dine in and it was worth it. The cheeseburger was made fresh and flavor packed. It was that good that I took my time to eat every morsel. On my next visit I will try the pizza that I've heard is pretty good!

  • Joe J.

This place is gets the job done. Friendly staff and good service. The pizza is easily the best in the area, and the few times I ordered food that wasn't pizza I had no complaints. The night time action in the parking lot can be a bit shady. So i never make it a family trip, but if you order ahead there is curbside parking or close enough parking available, and you're usually in and out in a short time.

Four stars based on really good pizza, good salads, and enormous hat collection. Additional star for being a restaurant that has been here since 1957 and managed to stay completely relevant serving good pizza with a smile to a drastically changing neighborhood. English and Spanish are spoken with ease. The whole thing is an experience, take a date here if you want to see if they're (the date) quality or not. The owner was here on Sunday, truly a character, a nice character. He loves to funnel kids to the free PACman table near the door. They have plenty of other non-pizza food, however, the pizza is so good that I've never tried it.

A diamond in the rough. If you like ledos style pizza.. Stop going to ledos and come here. Truly excellent thin crust rectangular pizzas and the place itself fun to hang out in and enjoy the history all over the wall

Outstanding pizza. Also try the gyro salad and beef brisket with the owner's special sauce. If he is there, try to meet the owner Brian. a very unique person worth meeting.

Pizza oven is a little gem that's an expensive but really good food corky cool establishment but not forgettable . They have many menu items but I mainly come here for the pizza it is very good

Visiting my husbands childhood neighborhood and we decided to stop and have the "oven burger". Soooo good! They were friendly from when you walk in the door. We ordered and sat down. They brought us our drinks and some fresh fruit, complements of the house as we waited for our meal. If you are in this neighborhood don't let the size if the place fool you. Service was excellent and so was the food. We'll be back if we are ever in the area again. Too bad we live in CA!

pizza was good as i remembered from my childhood but the steak and cheese was terrible. I was disappointed. But the pizza will make me eat there again

One of the true and unique treasures from my childhood--a recipe and ambiance that has remained consistent all these years. The Pizza Oven has been a staple of Riverdale--and pizza lovers within a 50-mile radius--since 1957. I likely had my first taste as a toddler circa 1975, and I was hooked for life. I now make it a point to visit at least once a month, making the drive all the way from Northern VA. And yes, it is *always* worth the drive. Most, if not all, of the old time independent pizza shops in the DMV area are long gone--namely Delaney's Irish Pizza Pub and Pal Jacks in Laurel--both of which had comparably delicious thin crusts and memorable tomato sauces. But the old Pizza Oven is still there, by some miracle, with that same wonderful taste. It's a rare gift to be able to enjoy something so fondly remembered from a much simpler time, and a remarkable feat that the owners have managed to keep going all these years. Frankly, it's the type of place that, by now, I feared would've been bought and sold many times over, with the original pizza recipe lost to the ages. It's the type of place I expected to miss dearly by now; remembering the aroma that filled the car, and the taste of that first hot slice out of the box--decades after they'd closed their doors for the last time. Instead, the Pizza Oven is still very much here, and I intend to cherish it for as long as I can.
