Now I'm not going to lie. I read the (mostly positive) reviews and though, yea ok. I've heard it all before. I'm from SC and I know my southern food. 9/10 the food's nasty and people mistake it for good southern cuisine. I preordered my food. A veggie plate. I don't really do fried foods/meats. I was prepared to walk in and if the place was nasty or not up to par I would just walk away and they would never know it was me. I get there and cars are parked everywhere...except the designated areas. (Typical around this area.) I take this as a good sign. A few people are seated and a bit more in line ahead of me. While I'm in line about 10 ppl add to the line...a really good sign. I pay and check my food. Looks pretty good. I get home and I must say I will be returning. Home cooked minus the 8hr drive. Side note. Get the cornbread. It has some sugarish addition making it like a sweet bread.

If you're looking for a good "home cooked" meal, then this is the place to go. Everything we ordered tasted great. Fried chicken, collard greens, yams, mac n cheese, and cornbread. Plain good soul food. Not much seating inside. Just a few 2 seater tables. Service was ok. We'll be back!

Have eaten here several times and tried several things so i think that I am pretty safe to say that the food is delicious and the prices are reasonable especially compared to Granny's which has gone done in quality and service in the last year. Had the ribs this weekend and omg they were buttery soft and definitely flavorful. The mac and chesse is delicious and the cabbage is succulent with a hint of a spicedy kick. The bbq quarter chicken leg is delicious but my favorite thing..well..they are neck and neck, are the candied yams and the peacch cobbler ..oh my gracious! The only thing that I recommend is that you check your order before you leave as they gave us whiting by accident once and my honey loved it so much, he was not upset at all!!!!

I had been meaning to go to this restaurant, after a bad experience with the other restaurant in the same shopping center. I was pleasantly surprised at the service, the food, and the speed in which the food was prepared was excellent. The fish was more than enough, and the greens were not tough, and had great flavor !

I would have liked to give 5 stars, because the food was EXCEPTIONAL (lake trout w/ green beans and mac &cheese and pig feet w/greens and potato salad )..... However the "service" and I use the term service loosely was terrible. In fact the service plays to the stero-type about black owned business. Please stop, letting Miss Attitude take orders and stop allowing her to interact with the customer. Owner, maybe you care about this feedback, maybe not. Just wanted to pass it on.

I came here several years ago and was just not impressed. However my husband wanted some "soul food" and I could not think of any place great in our area...then it dawned on me about Southern Blues. I told him not to have high expectations but who knows... Miracles do happen. Well the food Gods made me eat my words because the food was actually good. I had the fried catfish, Mac and cheese and yams. Hubby had BBQ ribs, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese. The fried chicken wings had just come out so we got four to share...and low and behold they were good too. We topped our order off with half & halves and dessert. Although the cake we got (carrot and chocolate) wasn't homemade it was still good. So we ended up going back tonight and I got the pork ribs with mac & cheese and green beans and hubby got BBQ chicken rice with gravy and Mac & cheese. Although my green string beans were from a can they were seasoned well and had a good taste. Oh they messed up my order so we ended up getting pork chops for free. They tasted good too. Now with that being said I got their potato salad and it was the worst and I mean the worst. I could only eat one fork full and that was all I could stand of it. It had so much mustard in it it overpowered the salad...and it was dry. They need to take it off the menu. For the life of me I couldn't understand why a few people brought it when I was there... Unless it was their first time tasting it too. If it wasn't for the potato salad I would have given them 5 stars. The staff was nice and it was clean inside. So I guess it's safe to say that we will be going back but will not getting any potato salad.

Stumbled on this place while looking for a place to grab lunch. It doesn't look like much from the outside and you might even miss it if you don't investigate! The inside is pretty understated with not a whole lot going on. The seating was minimal only about 10 seats, but if it's meant to be a carryout then I guess it's more than can be expected. So I ordered four wings and fries and they were really good. Honestly, I was surprised because I am very picky about chicken and I don't normally expect much, however this place is now in my top two (there is only one other place I enjoy wings from in the area). Both the chicken and the fries came out piping hot and the chicken was seasoned nicely. I also had a half and half which wasn't my fave but wasn't bad either. My boyfriend loves fried chicken so I will be taking him there and I plan to try something different.

So I have not been here in years. Went to a party they catered And wanted to try again. I got the lake trout dinner with yams and Mac n cheese , cornbread roll and peach cobbler. First they give you a lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A lot. You definitely get your money's worth. Second the food is good. Well seasoned and very tasty. My peach cobbler was delicious but diabetes sweet and the sweetness was overwhelming. The Mac and cheese was excellent but I missed the burnt ends so I think they make theirs creamer than I'm used to but delicious. Yams were excellent. Roll excellent. Fish was small but they have me 8 pieces !! The only missing was that there wasn't much breading or crunch. More like pan fried fish. Staff quiet and subdued but efficient. I will be back.

Southern Blues is certainly some good eating. Proud to say their customer service has gotten A LOT better within the last couple years. Nice sized portions and good prices. I've been in love with their cabbage for years now. I usually will get the Surf-n-Turf which is actually 2pieces fish, 2wings, and 2sides. The macaroni and cheese is good. Not really amazing but it's good. The place is very clean. It has a relaxed jazzy mood to the place. So the last time I went (which was last Sunday), I got the pork chop dinner. I'm not a huge pork eater but I LOVE their pork chops. They are soooo well cooked and tender that you literally can eat them with a spoon; no knife required. The food was so good and filling, I had to lay across the bed and was ready for a nap afterwards lol. I've been eating here for years and I've noticed they've scaled back a bit on their seasoning but hrt the food is still solid.

The food is delicious! Don't miss this place. The owner is very personable and makes sure the customers are happy. The Lake Trout is delicious and the yams are fantastic.

Food is all right. Customer service is lacking. I hate calling to order the food and when I get there, they aren't friendly at all. I won't be going back. I thought the service would improve over time, but it hasn't.

Last week I went back to order the veggie platter: mac n cheese, yams, greens and cabbage. I was thinking maybe a change took place with customer service within a year (since the last time I've been there)... Not so. As I was leaving the restaurant I overheard an employee tell another customer that there was a wait on cabbage. I assumed that maybe a few of us had gotten the last batch. When I went home to eat, I opened the container to find I had only 3 of my 4 sides, and the same employee who made my platter was the same one who told another customer there was a wait on cabbage. Dude said nothing to me. I wasn't asked if I wanted to substitute the cabbage for something else. He just packed it up as if it was what I asked for and handed me the bag. The customer service here is still as bad as it was before. And the sides he did manage to give me: the mac n cheese wasn't special, the greens were ok and the yams came out of a can. Thankfully, I've found several other soulfood joints nearby.

The best soul food! I always order fish, mac & cheese & collard greens. Fresh food & didn't have to wait long. The staff are friendly and resturant is clean. Two thumbs up!

Best soul food ever! Had the mac and cheese, yams, chicken, collard greens, peach cobbler and the fish!!! Wowsers!!! Tooooooo good!!! Thank you to somebody's grandmother because she had to have either cooked it or passed down a serious family recipe!! God above in heaven give me strength because eating this food could become an addiction for sure!!! Get behind me Satan you will not lead me into temptation!!! Mmmmmmm mmmmm mmmmm The banana pudding is no slouch either! The bananas were fresh and the wafers were perfect!!! I have driven 45 minutes back to back days to sample these delectable treats! My tastebuds approve this message!

First time at this place. Ordered the baked half chicken dinner with Mac & cheese and collard greens, yellow cake with chocolate frosting, a "twister" (half lemonade, half fruit punch) & a fried wing. The dinner had a lot of food for the price, which I liked. I agree with whoever said that they don't drain the greens like they should and the juice ends up getting on everything. Luckily since the chicken was baked instead of fried it didn't affect it much. Mac & cheese was ok, nothing special. Baked chicken was good. Greens were just ok too. The fried wing was really good. Cornbread was good. "Twister" was ok. The cake tasted like homemade which I liked and was really good. Would come back & try more fried chicken and maybe fish. Customer service was good, wait time wasn't long.

Delicious food, attentive service. More of a takeout place. The catfish was amazing and the beef ribs were tender and juicy. The collard greens and mac & cheese were great.

I visited Southern Blues a couple days ago after hearing about it from a friend. I usually have low expectations when I visit soul food joints that offer primarily takeout. I ordered the whiting, collards and yams with a sljce of sweet potato pie. Overall the food was pretty good. I was given 3 large pieces of fish which was very good. The collards weren't the usual vinegary flavored type. The yams were but good but did have that canned flavor. I was pleasantly surprised with the food. The employees were responsive and help enough, but didn't seem very enthused. Overall, I'd definitely return.

The good was OK. My husband and I ordered the fried chicken, greens, mac and cheese, and cornbread. I could have made all of it at home and better, but I was lazy and did not feel like cooking. It's one of those sorts of places, like McDonalds. Quick food that I could make at home, but I don't have time to cook so this will suffice.

I used to be a frequent patron of Southern Blues many years ago..i was a fan of their BBQ chicken, greens and mac and cheese. Many times it was great other times to salty or just mediocre... What drove me away from this establishment is the lack of professionalism from the employees. They were rude, inattentive to customers and seemed as if we were invading their space. Poor customer service is a serious disservice to an establishment especially with many other carryouts to choose from. A serious recommendation would be a thorough course in customer service and business etiquette.....

Food was very good, good flavoring, hot and served fast. Although my catfish as tasty I prefer the coating to be crisp. The Mac and cheese by far was phenomenal, not just cheese but FLAVORFUL. Cabbage also was not limp and lifeless. Cornbread was OK, I'm not northeasterner, so I hate sweet cornbread and most place in the northeast sweeten theirs. Only reason no 5 stars, there dining is not the best and everything is served in Styrofoam. The food is worth the price.

The food is tasty... My problem is with every person who answers the phone (when they decide to answer) No matter when you call you feel like you are bothering them by placing an order by phone. They are rude, short and not friendly at all. They cut you off like they are swamped with people and you get there, and there is only a few people waiting around. The manager definitely needs to do some customer service training because it is Horrible!
