This restaurant is just what Potomac needed. The food is great and it is family friendly! I have already eaten here a few times and each meal was great. My father and I agree that the veal saltimboca is AMAZING!

My wife and I have been here twice, and were happy with the food and service both times. The staff were knowledgeable and very friendly.

  • Donna E.

I have been there twice. I am an Italian from NJ and have lived in Potomac for 22 years. I have never found pizza like the kind they serve in NY/NJ until now! The calamari was excellent and the meatballs were very good as well. The wait staff has improved since our first trip there. The noise level can get a bit loud but it is not bothersome.

Got the 18 inch pizza to go. The crust was thin and chewy, not crispy. And the edges were very bread like. The cheese was ok but nothing special. The sauce was good and I could taste a hint of fresh basil. I would eat it again if in the neighborhood but nothing about it was exceptional to make it a destination point.

Just catered a party with Gregorio's. The food (chicken piccata, eggplant parm, pasta rose, antipasta, garlic knots) was amazing! Martini the manager has been so easy to work with and I could not be happier. Will definitely use them again for parties and will continue to eat there for family dinners.

Definitely not an Italian restaurant I'd ever go to again. Service was great but the food was the worst Italian I've ever eaten.

  • Loretta P.

I love the clams and linguine. I get it everytime I go there. I understand from friends and family the chicken piccata, chicken francaise, pasta carbonara, and scampi are delicious!

  • Gary R.

Gave it another chance for take out. Pizza and eggplant parm sub. Delicious on both accounts.

I have taken off a star due to the last experience with take out. Although the veal marsala was well received as was the lasagna, the chicken "francaise", which is dipped in an egg and fried, was soggy and lying on top of very wet pasta. Maybe they should be packaged separately. The biggest disappointment, though, was the tiramisu, which I loved last time; the cake was hard and dry and only the cream had a flavor reminiscent of the original. So beware of what you order for take out; don't expect a crispy fried chicken cutlet, better order the marsala, but that tiramisu........so sad.

Well done, no frills Italian food. My wife and I went in a recent Saturday night. We were seated immediately and service was prompt and friendly. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Chicken Milanese and chicken picatta were nicely prepared, but side pasta was made from broken, dried spaghetti. No vegetables included. Espresso was great. Meal was somewhat overpriced, considering overall quality and ambiance.

Making our first visit and initially impressed. Wednesday night and crowded and people seem generally pleased. BUT -- early worrying signs are slow service, seems to be backups in kitchen causing dishes to come out at least 10 to 15 mins after they should. But this is fixable. And when our dishes came they were quite good. Would recommend attention to attentiveness of waiters. They need to re-visit the table more often and refill water. Hope that the place does survive as it is quite convenient for those in Potomac/Rockville.

Had dinner mid week. Eggplant parm was good. Sauce was well above average. Tried the pesto and it was filled with flavor. Most pesto at restaurants are over seasoned and have a basil after taste. Not here it was really good. Friendly staff and good prices. WIne list is ok and they have a full bar with tv, big plus for football season. Perfect for Monday back to work dinner. Beat driving to DC or Bethesda. Will be back to try the veal chop.

First time here. Had been to the horrific place that had been here before. I had the shrimp scampi, husband had the chicken saltimboca. Kids had pizza and ravioli. Other than a general lack of seasoning on the calamari app, the food was very good. Overall, this place is a nice addition to the area and adds some sorely needed Italian food to the mix. I will definitely go back and look forward to trying other dishes. Tip - get there early. By 6:30, the line was out the door.

  • Kara S.

This place is okay, but the food is not that great. It's okay for the family because they have pizza for the kids, but the main dishes are not that interesting. I had the veal piccata which was not very lemony (actually a little oily) and the salad was boring. My husband had an equally average dish. The only redeeming feature was the good drinks and service. To call this authentic Italian would be a stretch.

Gregorio's Trattoria was an unexpected delight from the moment we walked in and were greeted by the owner, Don, to the nice hostess and our super waiter. The food was excellent. I have been eating Italian food for most of my life and this is as good as it gets! The fresh baked bread was refreshing and tasty, the salads crisp and fresh and the main entrees were superb. We finished with a Gregorio's made cannoli for dessert! You can bet that we will be going back to Gregorio's again. (and look forward to trying their sister restaurant in Reston with our Virginia friends)

We have ordered pizza here on three occasions . The pizza is very bread-like with a bland flavoring. Today we ordered for the second time a white pizza. I requested garlic on the pizza . The pizza had no garlic. When I complained to the manager/owner Greg- he replied----"I brushed the crust myself" this confirms the artificial spices this so called "Trattoria" uses to flavor their foods. He offered no refund on a exchange. We reordered from The Pines of Rome in Bethesda. Our white pizza was as always delicious.

Disappointing. Food very bland, service was lacking and management could benefit from listening to their clientel.

Delicious Italian fare. Large portions, wonderful service. My granddaughters said " it was the best pizza ever".

I have been 2x in the last week. The bread is awesome especially if you get the garlic knots and ask for marinara as i didnt love the regular dipping sauce. Had linguine fra diavlo and it was amazing. Also had a caeser salad that was quite good. I am a raving fan and will be back again this week. Service was very good too and they are very welcoming when you walk in the door.

What a great new spot for family Italian food. We had the cheese pizza, spaghetti with meatsauce and chicken parm. All were very good, fresh and delicious. Our kids loved the cheese ravioli. Super nice server. We are new to the area, but this is the best Italian we have sampled so far.

Went on Tues night. Food is good. Service is very good. Very friendly owners and lots of attentive staff. It was really busy so I would make a reservation if you want to go on a Friday or Saturday night.

Good local spot with nice ambiance. The Bianca de Kate pizza is delicious- I definitely recommend it. Only drawback I've found is that some of their red sauce tastes a bit too much like red wine. All of the salmon dishes we've had have been cooked perfectly. Overall, the staff are friendly and responsive and the restaurant is very clean.

Yesterday I had a wonderful lunch here. The ambiance is very nice and the service was excellent. I had the four cheese pizza which was pretty good. It was tasty with a crisp crust and they have their own ovens for the pizza. The breadsticks were also delicious and my friend had a salad that she said was very good. She had a couple of special requests with her meal and they were extremely accommodating.

  • Shirley D.

The pizza is yummy! I'm not a big fan of thin slices or a layer of grease on top, but it was so delicious that I forgot about my preferences. The restaurant is very nice and you can either sit at the bar or the booths and tables. The lunch special is 2 slices and a drink for $6 plus tax. Can't beat that! I enjoyed my experience and my server was excellent.

We had a reservation for 8. They were busy being a Friday night, and seated us 15 minutes late. To compensate, we were given a couple of appetizers on the house...calamari and cheese sticks. We ordered eggplant Parmesan, salmon w caper sauce, arugula salad, baked ziti and Greek salad. Excellent food. Service even better. Hats off to Scott, our server who made the experience one that would bring us back for more.

The first time I ate at Gregorio's, the food was fabulous and the server was accommodating. For the Superbowl, we decided to try pizza carryout. The Pizza was good and they were seemingly very understanding and accommodating when informed about my wife's tree nut allergy.

Great food. Service is very good as well. Wild caught shrimp paste is a must try. The owner is friendly and helpful.

Gregorio's is our local go to place for soul Italian food! We generally eat in or just do take out and have always had a good experience here. They have generous serving sizes and food seems to be home cooked quality :) We generally get their pasta dishes and I like the sauce and the meatballs! The place has ample seating and the most we have waited for a table is like 5 minutes. Service is good too!

had dinner @ the potomac location. Here's my review: PRO: 1. FOOD Quality: Home made Italian fare. Fresh ingredients, well prepared, large portions. Fair prices. Chicken parm and masala perfectly cooked. not overdone or dry. Lasagna is excellent. Great flavor and seasoning. sauce had a homemade flavor to it. many restaurant sauces taste like they came straight from the can to the microwave to your plate. Boring and tasteless. This was not the case here. 2. Service: Fast friendly. Didn't try to push any dishes or force additional add-ons. 3. Atmosphere: Clean modern layout. CON: 1. booth table: these were the smallest tables i've ever sat at. I'm not a big guy but found it vey tight to sit and eat in the booth. Would prefer a table in the center next time with regular chairs. SUMMARY: Very good homestyle italian food with friendly service on a child's size table. Will come again, but ask for a center table instead of the booths.

Unfortunately some stuff looks obviously microwaved. Staff is friendly and the decor is welcoming. Looks like a great happy hour spot.

Yummy! This is my second time dining here. I didn't think it would be better than the first time but it was! The vodka penne is too die for! Probably the best I have ever had! My husband and I shared meatball sliders as an appetizer. Sensational! The service is great. Can't wait to go back!

Locals took us here. Pleasant neighborhood trattoria, certainly worth patronizing if you're local. I had a good tender salmon with a great rose sauce, a creamy tomato of a kind I rarely find in restaurants but really like.

My husband I frequented Gregorio's several time since they opened. Most of our visits were positive but the last time (3 months ago or so) was a complete disaster. The staff and the owner are actually polite and caring, but the manager not so much. We were there at around 4 pm and there was still light outside. The manager decided to dim the light even when we politely asked him to delay it a bit. We were there for happy hour twice and the manager pointed out that we only I like bar food, implying cheap food. They just started serving the bar menu and we were there maybe a couple of times at around the happy hour time. The issues we have with the situation is that we were there PLENTY of times and spent PLENTY of money. I will never, ever go back. How demeaning...how insulting. Just don't know what gives him the right to insult customers. Gregorios lost a couple of their best customers.

We decided to come dine in at the restaurant instead of our normal take out for Gregorio's. We have always had good experiences with the takeout and therefore decided to dine in at the restaurant with another couple. BIG MISTAKE! Only go if you want an expensive, rushed dinner. Better off getting take out here. While we looked at the menu the rude waitress approached us three times to order in a span of 5 minutes. The third time she said to us, "You should order your food soon as we have lots of people waiting". The four of us couldn't believe it and said thank you but we aren't ready. At this point we already ordered a round of drinks. When we did order 2 minutes later and asked the waitress questions about a few items (i.e side dishes as we never order these with takeout) she seemed annoyed. The food (which was good!) came out quickly before we were even done with our salads. As we were finishing dinner we noticed an older gentleman who worked there (maybe the owner?)) and our waitress standing by our table speaking to each other and looking at us. They both looked at his watch (indicating we have been there too long) and stared back at us. We all felt uncomfortable especially after ordering 2 rounds of alcoholic drinks each and entrees that were over $20 each. We finished and paid and were out of the restaurant in 55 minutes. Shame on you Gregorio's!

Frequent the Reston location regularly. Food and service is great. Such a popular neighborhood restaurant, we partnered with them for a fundraiser. We filled the restaurant on a Mnday night, but they never paid us. Unethical and disappointing. Will have to find another Italian place, as will our members.

Finally a decent Italian restaurant in the area. It's nice to actually sit in a restaurant on that end of the shopping center that actually has patrons. The chicken parm is great. The manager and owner seem to care and the staff overall is great.

Solid, no frills Italian Restaurant. Good food, good portions at ok prices. I say OK, because it is Potomac. Expensive for everywhere else, but on par for Potomac. I ordered, Ravioli Rosa and Eggplant Parm. Good balance of cream and tomato on the Ravioli, Eggplant Parm was cooked well with good ration of cheese. It was fried, which i personally like. I've ordered pizza there too, actually a pretty decent pie. Wise Guy's is still king in this town, but since i dont feel like going all the way in to DC, this will do. Bottom line, good food, good portions, doesnt mess with the basics. Pretty much the foundation of a good italian place. I'll go back, and suggest others do as well.

I really wanted to support this new business so close to home. But the food and service is terrible! They burn my pizza and still serve it to me and family! The pasta sauce was bitter and tasted spoiled! Hello Server?? Don't you ask your table hey I see your not eating your 18 pasta plate is it alright?? No he just stands with his ass to is while he enjoys watching TV at the bar! Well the great thing about this area is there plenty to choose from. Good luck and I hope you guys make changes otherwise your destiny will be just like the prior tenant!

I have gotten take out from Greggorios a few times and have not been disappointed yet. The food is good and the service is equally as good. What really made me realize how this place really appreciates the customer is when I ordered lasagna(it's like crack---ordered 3 times in 1 week) and the cannoli but when I opened my bag there was no cannoli or salad. When I called them and let them know they insisted on bringing it to my house even though I had picked up the order. After I had made the call I realized it had fallen out of the bag in my car so I called them back and talked to Greg who insisted that he is still going to bring it over. Did I mention the lasagna is like crack.

We order carry out from Gregorio's all the time. It is great to have a neighborhood Italian restaurant that cooks up some great pasta and pizza. Highly recommend the carbonara, penne vodka and the eggplant parmesan. We ordered pizza for the first time, which is a NY style pizza, large slices that you fold up while you eat. The margarita pizza with fresh mozzarella and basil is delicious plus, we add their meatballs as a topping. Only compliant is that the pizza pieces are a little pricy but the quality is good. All in all, great to have a consistently good Italian restaurant in Cabin John Mall.

Absolutely incredible Italian restaurant. Gluten-free options available. There is a lot of heart and soul put into the cooking here. The roast chicken was amazing, as was the minestrone soup. Lots of flavor, fresh ingredients and amazing service. Will be back!

  • Bob L.

The food is slightly below average but the prices are slightly above average. The noise level is off the charts. My DB meter registered a constant 85 dB almost too loud to talk. The place is best suited for a happy hour gathering around the bar.

Just went for the first time. 5:30 on a Saturday. I spent most of my life in northern NJ, where serving bad Italian food can get you killed. - they have a full bar. Not a byob trattoria. - lots of families and loud children. I'm sure a later time is quieter - I had the pasta fagioli and braised short ribs with risotto. DELICIOUS! - my wife had the pasta primavera. Skimpy on the veggies, but great sauce. - the service was OK, not great. Our waiter was a 16 year old boy, trying his hardest. We'll go again.

Finally--a great pizza place that is kid friendly but also has delicious healthy entrees. The chicken Donaldo is fabulous and the salmon is incredible and all 4 of my kids love the pizzas and pastas! Gregorios has a very welcoming and warm wait staff and is a great community restaurant. Thank you Gregorios!

  • Steve G.

I'm picky about my italian food and always have a great meal at Gregorios. They serve pretty traditional italian dishes (nothing you haven't seen before) but they do it really well. Pasta is always cooked to a perfect el dente and the sauces are really delicious. The bread and marinara for the table is also pretty on point. It can get busy on a weekend night so you may have to wait a bit if you don't have a reservation but when there is a long line we've seen Gregorio's put out a pizza for their guests (free of charge)- just to keep the crowds happy (very smart move!). If you are a white sauce fan I'd go with their mussels and linguini, their shrimp scampi, or their Linguine alle Vongole. If you are more of a red sauce fan their spicy shrimp pasta or veal parmesan are also great and if you are in the mood for a sandwich try their meatball sub (my husband swears by it).

  • Vanessa S.

This place never disappoints! The food is consistent and so is the service. The staff makes sure to greet everyone and also makes sure you had a pleasant dining experience. We got takeout tonight and since they accidently made a large meatball pizza instead of a medium half meatball, they also gave me a medium plain since I had to wait a few extra minutes. It's going that extra mile that makes the difference!

We had an excellent lunch: lasagna, fettuccine bolognese and chicken parmigiana sandwich. Attractive room, good service and varied red sauce menu.

I usually don't have quite the taste for Italian, but Gregorio's proves itself over and over again. Living with two other people who love chicken Parmesan and penne, I never really understood the whole obsession with pastas in different sauces. However, Gregorio's changed my mind. You start off with amazing breadsticks garlic bread balls. Then comes the entrées. I order the ravioli with rose sauce each time and never get tired of it! It's always cooked to perfection with just the right amount of sauce. Their pizza is amazing as well, and it tastes just as good as all the other pizza companies in the Maryland area. You can carry it out and have a nice dinner, too. The restaurant provides a fine environment to sit and fine, as well as relax. Most of the waiters are nice, and the owner is just so wonderful and pleasant. Overall I recommend this restaurant. The food is wonderful, the customer service is great and it is a fun, calm place to eat dinner!

Came here with my family for the first time, they had been there before. Started out okay, my father ordered the white pizza after raving about it. It honestly was not that good. I barely tasted the cheese and felt like I was just eating bread. Didn't have much lasting flavor to it. The dinner was much worse. They brought us the wrong dish for one person, so to not make people wait my father had a dish he didn't want. I ordered the chicken parmesan. The chicken was so thin that they easily overcooked it and it was so hard to chew. The spaghetti came out cold and tasted horribly. The new atmosphere was very nice and welcoming, but they need to do a much better job on the food for me to come back. They did just open, so they have time to get feedback from customers to keep them coming back.

  • D F.

The pizza here is mediocre, at best, plus it's over-priced. I would give three stars if my bill had been $30 (two medium pizzas, two house salads, water to drink) but it was $57. The service wasn't good either. Our waitress asked if we were ready to order, we couldn't even say yes because she interrupted to tell us what the special was. The pizza was barely ok. The crust was bland and soggy.

overpriced. ingredients were fresh but not seasoned correctly. Meatballs and shrimp in pasta dishes were over cooked :-( Will Not be going there again.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
