Do you like burgers? Go here. Now. Wait they're closed now. Go when they open. This is not a tip Yelp, but a review of the restaurant. That is all you need to know.

This is a decent burger joint. I wouldn't say it excels particularly in anything, but it's a good stop for burger, fries, and a drink. The location is at Potomac Park right next to Harris Teeter. You can probably catch a glance from 270 if you look hard enough. The ambiance is fun. It's an uptempo burger joint scene...one I think you'd enjoy. The burger is fine. I got the elevation burger so there are two paddies. I got the elevation sauce on the side, which was good because it wasn't my favorite. The fries are thinner, not quite show string but close. Pretty good 7/10. Overall, a good burger joint. I would probably pick a few more in the area over this one, though.

The food was good but it's a fast food place so the five stars has more to do with the service. Fadi was so attentive and really helpful in helping me (vegetarian) make the right choice for my lunch. He brought out ingredient lists and told me which sauces worked best. Great lunch!

Organic, gluten-free friendly, delicious, great service. The only critique I have is to cook the burgers to order, and not mess up toppings. I frequently am missing toppings that I ordered. Still tastes good though!

Went around lunch, not much of a line at all. I ordered the Elevation Burger, a side of fries and a drink which totaled around $11. The burger comes with two patties and you can fix the toppings to your liking. There are a few toppings at a cost, including cheese and mushrooms, and a couple dozen free toppings including caramelized onions their special Elevation Sauce. The fries are freshly cut, I saw one of the guys behind the counter making a fresh batch. Definitely tasty, none of that super greasy feeling you often get from burger joint fries. I still have the mindset that burgers should be a cheap food, so the $11 for the meal is still a bit much to me.

I visited Elevation Burger (5/10/15) first time. Ordered "Elevation Burger" & coffee shake. The eatery known for freshness-true this visit: fresh juicy beef patties, crisp lettuce, onion & mildly sharp cheddar cheese. Shake has creamy coffee flavor: thick too served w/a straw & spoon. Presentation front & center: burger served on matte gray metal tray (cool touch). Prompted courteous service. Elevations is also a sustainable company-donating waste olive oil for conversion into bio-diesel & using high post consumer paper products. I learned this reading the tray liner.

I wasn't super impressed with my first visit to Elevation, but this past time I hit the order jackpot for my taste buds: an Elevation burger with caramelized onions and balsamic mustard. BOOM- delicious. The fries are shoestring implementations of Five Guys, and could possibly even be better; a shock, I know. In a nutshell, it's probably as close as you're going to come to In-N-Out on the east coast!

THE BEST BURGER I Have had in a long time!!! Juicy and delicious. The fries were great too. Did I mentioned the have homemade Root Beer?? WINNING!!!!!! I already have plans on my next visit to try the chicken breast sandwich.

Just had my first elevation burger. Wow! The best Organic burger in town, nice friendly service/staff and great management. Try there elevation sauce with those olive oil fried French fries a master food symphony of taste! Great work guys I'll be having my lunch with you all every week

Grass-fed beef. French fries cooked to maddening perfection in olive oil. Milkshakes that combine coffee & Oreos. Mmmmmm. Fries! Yes!! Rude...sometimes but clientele is equally as rude or just plain elitist. Customer service can be extremely patient considering that the customers can be a bit "I'm better than you" and all-around buckets of sunshine. Burgers are ok and not consistent...like sometimes the cheese isn't melted...blecch. No more milkshakes (at least the last time we went)....boooo. Would I go for the burgers? Not exactly. But those fries are calling me for repeat visits!

I was there on mothers day and they gave my daughter a rose so she could take it home to her mommy....very classy. great food and great service! try the chocolate shake with banannas

OK burgers. Beef does not have much flavor--maybe because it is organic. Much prefer Five Guys for flavor and toppings selections.

I have had problems the last few times I've gone to Elevation Burger. I've used the electronic ordering system and it hasn't showed up at the restaurant. When I got to the restaurant, I had to wait while they prepared the food. Nevertheless, the fries were really overcooked the last time. Their veggie burger and burgers are still good, but when you basically only make burgers and fries, you should be able to get them right consistently.

So the food at elevation burger is truly very good. The quality of meat and freshness of products is certainly superior. The service was extremely lacking today. I had a 20 minute phone call... 8 was spent asking questions after I clearly stated my order then I was informed I needed to pay prior to pick-up... I explained I was on my way there and asked to speak to a manager... When I asked to speak with a manager they took 8 minutes too pick up the phone... then once they did it they proceeded to apologize because the 1st person was new... The entire call was unpleasant and time consuming for a simple order and resolution... While on hold I was able to go into Harries Teeter next door and make a complete food purchase... While the manager was making excuses on her and the 1st persons behalf... Life doesn't work on excuses but production... Took my business elsewhere for prompt service

Visited about 8 months ago. Burger was good (grass fed) but fries were better. The staff is nice and able to take care of a long line of customers efficiently while giving good service for a fast food type of place.

This is a pretty solid burger joint. It's like a not-crappy Five Guys, with quality ingredients. I had a burger, which included two tasty patties, lettuce, tomato, and onion, plus some solid cheddar. Sure, it's a litle more expensive than most places, and you can't get your burger cooked to order, but damn, is it tasty! I'd much rather go here than many of the other chain burger places around. I do wish they sold beer, even light yellow fizzy beer. That would be awesome.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I LOVE the veggie burger #1!

Great grass fed burger place. The parking is kind of a pain, but it's worth it for the fries and veggie burger with an Oreo shake! Highly recommend it.

This was my second time at Elevation burger and I liked it a lot better. There's a variety of toppings and the burgers are good. The shakes are simple (they only have three types) but decent. Not very inventive or unique flavors but a solid place if you're craving the good old American staple. Also at $15 for a burger, shake and fries combo it's a little on the pricey side. All in all Elevation Burger does the job but it's just not very memorable.

EB is known for using organic, grass-fed beef. I honestly can't tell the difference. I usually get the single patty cheeseburger, which is what they call the kid's burger. The elevation sauce is pretty much a thousand island sauce. The usual toppings like lettuce, tomato, onions, grilled onions, pickle, and peppers are free. Unlike Five Guys, mushrooms are additional cost. Same with bacon. The burger does seem less greasy than Five Guys. I like how they wrap the burger, making it easier to consume. You can also go a little healthier and have the patty wrapped in lettuce. The fries are thinly cut so it is greasier. Sometimes it can be a little too salty. They also serve milkshakes! Thick and creamy! You can get up to two mix-ins.

I've heard great things about Elevation Burger. So, getting a Google Offer for buy-one-get-one on burgers was a great excuse to finally try them out. This is a fast-casual place. You place your order at the counter and sit down and wait for them to bring the food out to you. It's a pretty slim and simple menu. Burgers (beef, veggie or vegan) with numerous toppings, grilled cheese, fries and shakes. There's a big poster advertising that they actually offer vegetarians a choice in food. And that's true - vegetarians can choose from two veggie burgers or a grilled cheese. I suppose that when your menu consists of about 7 options, that's a pretty accurate statement, but vegetarians shouldn't come expecting some huge vegetarian-focused menu. I was a little concerned when I ordered my burger and was not asked how I would like it cooked. The patties are thin - and really can't be cooked any other way than they are. Thankfully, they're not too dry. They are, however, woefully underseasoned. Even with their signature "elevation sauce", there was very little flavor to my burger. My wife enjoyed the vegetarian burger she ordered tasted suspiciously like the restaurant line of Morningstar veggie burgers. She was OK with that since she likes them, but this didn't taste like anything homemade. The fact that there are big signs advertising that the beef is ground in-store, but no signs discuss making the veggie/vegan burgers in-store backs up this idea. The highlight of the meal, if there was one, was the fries. My wife enjoyed them more than I did, but they were decent enough. Again, I found them underseasoned and she felt they were a little oily. Price is the real redeeming quality about Elevation Burger. Aside from specials/sales, this was the cheapest non-fast-food burger I've found in the area. It's definitely not the best, but it's decent, cheap and reasonably quick.

For veggie burger, I think Elevation burger has good deal. Around $4.30. Similar or slightly lower price to Burger King and other burger joint. Veggie patti had great texture and flavor. I liked mine with melted cheese. Soft potato bun gets another brownie point! Reminded me of shake shack burger. It's not big as 5 guys or BGR burger. - Fries: I usually don't like long thin fries since they often are excessively crunch and dried, but Elevation fries were perfect. Crispy outside and soft inside with good seasoning. I was pretty happy with my veggie burger and fries. PS: 7 club program gets you a free meal!! (punch card). I love reward program!

The elevation burger was pretty good. Meat might not have been the best quality ever, but with the added extra cheese, the sauce, mushrooms, onions and bacon, it was pretty darn good

  • Brad L.

Good food. Slooooooooooooooooow service. Plenty of time to contemplate the mystery of the slow service since there really are only three things on the menu -- burgers, fries, milkshakes. Maybe they are just understaffed/poorly managed. Eventually you get to eat and it's tasty.

Honestly one of my go-to places in the potomac area. One of the most delicious, healthy and hip places to go! Whether you are a businessman coming home hungry from work or your a varsity athlete on the look out for a place to crunch that feeling of hunger in your stomach i would HIGHLY advise you stop by this high quality " fast food" restaurant. Their products not only benefit your health but also the health of our environment. Not only is the staff very attentful to its customers but they also know the art of burger making. You will not be dissapointed in this place ! "Fast Food doesn't have to be junk food" #giveitatry

Organic, grass-fed, never-frozen burgers & fries cooked in olive oil. A burger joint that is catering to healthy eating while you indulge in some good ol' American comfort food? Let's scream it from the rooftops! For those on the organic/healthy kick, we got the lettuce-wrapped burgers & a side of fries. I can honestly say we enjoyed every bite. The burgers were tender and it def mimicked the closest thing to In-n-Out. Root beer with cane sugar? Yes please! Two rounds of employees that came to check on us? Double plus! Can you tell the difference between this place and say McD's or Burger King? Yes. Is it more expensive than other burger joints? Yes. But don't compare those places to Elevation Burger because its like comparing Whole Foods to Giant/Safeway.

    (5)
  • LA A.

Average. The burger was dry and over cooked. Elevation may use quality ingredients but the food needs to be prepared properly as well. They need to learn from Shake Shack how it's done.

  • Thomas L.

Im sorry. Not a fan at all. This place was spoken so highly of. The fact that they advertise organic grass-fed beef is all fine and dandy, but whats the point if you cant even form a burger correctly? The fat-meat ratio was so low that the burger would just crumble as I tried to eat it. Sure the flavor was OK but it was more like eating a sloppy joe, without the sauce. And the fries... theyre shoestring fries... how could you possibly get shoestring fries to be soggy? I mean... COMON

Maybe it was too healthy for me. I don't know. That will be my excuse.. My burger was not constructed very nicely. It was kind of slapped together, and the cheese was not melted. That was very disappointing. The parts of the cheese that melted were melted into the paper. (The bread / meat / cheese were not aligned) Yes...That's a bit annoying. So overall, the flavors were good but not mind blowing, and the construction of my burger really pissed me off. The end.

Okay so EB has earned back my trust. First of all, the customer service is 5 star treatment... They treat you the way you like to the be treated. Very polite, professional and cordial. My burgers came out my way, no pink in the middle. I was offrered a courtsey cup while I wait. It was a hot day!!! They come to you and bring your order. Your always thanked for your visit. They have loyalty cards thats a plus in my book.

I was visiting from Florida and wanted to find a great burger joint like the ones back home. I figured I couldn't go wrong in the hometown of Five Guys. The burger was OK, the prices good, but I was a bit disappointed with some of the selection. The fries were thin and lacking. Finally, they are really missing the boat not offering beer.

As I entered into this place... I started elevating with all the organic Halal beef... After that I must have seen a cow jump over the moon... LITERALLY!

Besides the whole sustainably-grown, organic, feel confident that my food is actually something I would want to eat vibe that this place has, the burgers (beef and veggie) are delicious and the staff is super friendly. The eating area is an adequate level of clean for a fast food restaurant, and the kitchen is open so you can see that the cooking areas are clean. The bathroom is decent - and I'm really picky. If you are looking for a burger you don't have to feel guilty about, look no further.

This is the part I wrote initially (rest to follow): Drafting a review because it's taking so long to get my order. Since I ordered i've gone next door to Harris Teeter and wandered the whole place and picked a drink, waited in line, checked out, come back here, and finished my drink. Also I've seen several people come up and complain that their orders weren't correct. ____________________________________________ Now I'm back home and the review has gone from three stars to one. First of all I have had a good experience at a different Elevation Burger so I have nothing against the company. The burger meat was paltry and over done. As I neared completion of my burger I had two bites with totally burned (charcoal) pieces of meat. I went to the register to complain and after the cashier walked back to talk to the manager a couple times, the manager finally came out. She then implied that I was just trying to get a free burger because there was so little of the burger left. When I went to throw away the remains of my burger the trash can was so full it was overflowing and I had to jam my trash in on top. I may have to try the Wheaton Mall location cos this one is terrible. Sloooooooooooow service, paltry portions, burned meat, bad customer service, overflowing trash.

This is the closest burger joint that I found to In-N-Out, yes people, In-N-Out. I'd have to say that it's not as good, but it's still pretty tasty. Around the DMV, 5 Guys is still my go to burger place. Elevation Burger prides itself on having organic, grass-fed, free range beef and fresh fries cooked in olive oil. Although I can't say that I could tell the difference, I guess it makes me feel better knowing that I'm eating a "healthier" fast food option. The burgers here are pretty tasty, but the patties seem kind of thin. The first time I came here, I ordered a single cheeseburger with their original toppings (elevation sauce, pickles, lettuce and tomatoes). All I tasted was bread! Where's the beef?! The next time I came, I ordered the elevation burger (double meat, double cheese) with original toppings. Delicious! I usually don't like two patties, but at this place, I feel it's a must. They have about 10 free toppings that you could choose. Their elevation sauce reminds me of In-N-Out's sauce. Their fries were good. If you don't eat a lot of fries, I'd say that an order is big enough to share between two people. Again, the fries remind me of In-N-Out. The shakes here are delicious! I'd definitely order one if I were you! Besides burgers, fries, and shakes/malts, they also offer veggie burgers, grilled cheese, salad, oranges, and cookies.

The good: Great burgers and fries! Staff is very friendly and helpful. The food and staff were excellent. The bad: The cleanliness of the tables could have been better, and there was a table full of kids sitting behind ms and with the tall ceilings and floors the noise level was a bit more than comfortable for me. I'd still go back, but would have liked it to be a little cleaner.

Eehhhh alright then. I mean, I'm a veggie so I don't get nearly as thrilled about burger places as some carnivores might but I can dig this place. It's not far from work and it is pretty easy on the wallet. I tried a veggie burger in a lettuce wrap and it was solid. I went too far down the green path by opting for a side salad and should have gone with the fries but lesson learned and I shall return.

Very good burgers, friendly service. I paid $11.20 for an Elevation burger, fries and a drink. I thought the quality was on par with 5 Guys, but I personally liked this burger better. It was easier to eat...maybe the rolls or patties are bigger, but I find 5G burgers end up falling apart before you can finish it. The Elevation burger stayed together the entire time, and was just as high. Go figure. I got the fries. I ate the fries. Mine were crispy and it was nice to see something different in the fry arena. But, they were greasy. Might have something to do with the cooking temperature of olive oil as others have mentioned. That "elevation sauce" is comparable to every other special sauce out there. Just another version of thousand island dressing. If you don't like that, no need to ask for it. They do offer it on the side which makes a nice fry dip! I will go back for another burger. It had a really good taste throughout. Plenty of flavors but each piece of the burger had a distinct flavor that came through. Loved the cheddar cheese as an option and even more so, I loved having hot pepper relish as an option! Nice way to get some heat on there other than hot sauce. The pickles, also, were large crisp slabs instead of small mushy circles. They were a great quality that I wish all burger places would share. They should have a meal deal, though. $11+ is restaurant price for what would typically be a bigger burger.

Ordered two burgers and two fries online for pickup. First, after you enter your credit card for payment, the site doesn't give you a confirmation, or an indication as to when the order will be ready. You also don't get an email receipt. I had to call the location just to confirm they received my order, which they had, and they told me that they too don't like the fact that the website doesn't give purchasers any info or confirmations or email receipts (maybe they should change it then?) I go to pick up the food and when I get there I see my bag of food was sitting up on a ledge. The fries were all soggy. They should wait to serve the fries for takeout orders until the customers arrive. The burgers were really dry and overdone. They were also cold because the bags don't close and the burgers are put into open pockets which lets the air get at them. The meal was really overpriced in my opinion. Will not go back.

welcome to the world of quick and very nomnom burgers! I think these burgers taste different from your normal burger places. The fact they use grass fad cows adds a nice better taste. Very friendly staff that seem to be in a great mood and great sense of humor. MUST ORDER: Elevation Burger with everything, fries TIP: Get their 7Club punch card and with double patties order get 2 stamps

I recently came back from LA to compare the infamous In-N-Out to Elevation burger and EB wins hands down. A lot more juicier and tastier. I found this gem after trying the location at Tysons Corner (which I find to be better than this Potomac location) and I'm glad I did! Five Guys don't even come close. Try it!

    (4)
  • Lori D.

No, no, no. Now, granted, Holeman & Finch recently rocked my world with the best burger of my life, but even by my own sadly misguided pre-H&F standards, Elevation just doesn't stack up. If you like criminally unseasoned beef and soggy, greasy fries, then this is the place for you. They get one extra star for friendly staff who remember your name and bring your order to you. Otherwise, meh.

Elevation Burger advertises itself as a burger joint that uses the "highest quality ingredients," with 100% organic/grass-fed/free-range/ground-on-premises beef and fries cooked in "heart-healthy" olive oil. Be that as it may, all the food is simply drenched in that oil. The burger buns are slippery with oil, and the fries are soggy. The vegetables in the burgers (lettuce, tomato) are pretty fresh, but nothing extraordinary. And while the beef may be of high quality, it's not seasoned and is also very oily. I was not impressed, and I certainly did not feel "healthier" after eating there. The shakes are good. For a better tasting burger with more flavor, and probably a lot less oil, I'd go to the new Shake Shack in DC.

  • Aaron W.

I have to say I was not impressed. My family and ate there last night. They used too many condiments on the burgers. The taste was ok, but who could taste the burger. The fries were soggy as well. I like the concept and like the idea of eating a better product, but they have a way to go. It seemed to follow the 5 guys style without the quality. With the menu being as limited as it is you would think it would no biggie to get the quality correct The staff were nice as an alternative, but the food has to be the priority.

    (3)
  • Don L.

How nice to have a choice of vegetarian burgers. I figured I'd start with the #1 and was blown away. Very moist and flavorful. (Better than the ones I make!) Having the lettuce-as-bun AND calorie info for that option was great. I will happily return.

Burgers are dry. Fries are greasy. Five Guys is better and that's all they are trying to be.

My husband & I love Elevation Burger!! The burgers are AWESOME and you can make it like you want it (they have tons of toppings to choose from). The fries are fresh and the shakes are yummy. And to boot...all that they serve is organic and the staff is super nice!

The best way to describe this place is that it tastes just like In-n-Out but not really. You can't get anything animal style here, there's no secret menu (or is there?)and they aren't grilling the mustard onto your bun and burger, but with the flavors of elevation sauce, the taste of the burgers, and the long soggy fries there is something very reminiscent of the California classic. All they need is a staff of well paid blonde teenagers and biblical verses on their cups. This is one of the few places that will serve a burger protein style (wrapped in lettuce vs bread). I ended up with an elevation burger (west coast translation: double double), protein style, with carmelized onions, elevation sauce, and two slices of cheddar cheese. The meat patties were pretty thin, otherwise I would never order two hamburger patties anywhere else. The burger itself was tasty, maybe a little too well done, and was dripping with sauce and juices. Even better it was delivered to our table in a tray (that's a silver version of the In-n- Out tray) by their very nice staff. Next we have the fries. Long thin fries cooked in olive oil. Sounds good right? They even look good, but at first bite you basically discover they taste like cut up sponges. Soggy mess. I'm actually not a fan of In-n-Out fries and these taste just like them. We ended the meal with a malt. This might have been the best part. I ordered a coffee malt with bananas. I got a weird look when I ordered it, but OMG it was good. I add banana to alot of frozen coffee blended drinks, and it works just fine with a coffee shake. The girl behind the counter was so intrigued, she said she was going to order one later. The verdict: I spent about $9 for a burger and fries. In-n-Out or Five Guys has never raped my wallet like that. The burger hit the spot, but I think Five Guys actually has a more flavorful and beefier burger. I would like to challenge my lactose intolerance and get that malt again.

  • Andrew O.

The burger was decent. The fries ok. The shake was fine. Nothing was outstanding, but the service was awful. Tried to call to order ahead. Can only order online or using their app. Downloaded the app - very confusing to use. Placed and paid for order on app and arrived 10 minutes later. Told I had to wait in the one long line where everyone placed and paid for their orders. Waited 20 minutes in line and witnessed an unfriendly and uncaring staff treat their customers rudely multiple times. I finally got to the front of the line and picked up my cold burgers and fries. Not impressed.

Good fries. And I love my fries. The burger was a bit dry. You shouldn't need to overcook the meat if they grind it in house. Atmosphere was good and service was good. I would come back.

It is O.K. burgers are alright, just be sure to check your order well if you are doing carryout. I was sorted fries on two occasions. Second time was my bad for not checking after the first time.

Despite peoples feelings that there is not a WIDE selection of toppings, its a pretty damn good burger. I choose the "1/2 gilt" with a veggie patty (vegan and non) and a beet patty with cheese. Plus the burger card gets you a "free patty" in just a visit or two with a friend. Usually some pretty young kids working there, but always been really polite, friendly and willing to give great customer service. Maybe not the BEST burger around...but definitely worth a try. Definitely try the fries because they are really good.

  • Angel W.

The customer service is excellent, the food is tasty (and what I order is healthy), and the prices are just right. Too bad I did not know about this location until very recently. I always order the veggie burger #2 which is made solely of vegetables in comparison to veggie burger #1 which I think is more soy based. Oddly enough when the veggie burger is placed in a lettuce wrap, it still tastes just as good as a bun. Plus the basalmic mustard is so delicious that I can save some calories by skipping the mayo. Seems super healthy and is just the right amount of food for a light lunch. The customer service always amazes me. Gillian, who typically rings us up, is as gracious as can be! She is always super happy/friendly, thorough, and to my surprise, actually knows me by name. Considering I often get referred to as "Crystal", " Rachel", "Angie" even by people whom I speak to on a regular basis, this made me want to jump over the counter and give Gillian a hug. It's nice to be remembered, especially when it's not someone's job to remember you. Overall, the staff is great. They always get our orders correct even when we spat out a quick list of toppings for them to remember. And they are quick to clean up the table or respond to any other needs. I've also visted another location in Arlington and received great service there. Corporate is obviously doing something right.

The biggest disappointment of this location is that they don't have the fun looking conveyor belt burger cooker. Otherwise, I've been totally happy with the food and service I've received there. The burgers are just as tasty as the other Elevation Burgers I've been to and the staff are polite and quick with orders. The "half the guilt #1" is a delicious combo of beef patty and a very tasty vegetarian patty! There was a slight mix up the last time I went and a newer employee accidentally gave my order to another patron, but we had the same name so I can't really fault him on that too much.

It took a ridiculous amount of time to get our food on a Sunday afternoon -- more than thirty minutes from walking in to getting our order -- and it wasn't that busy. No burger is worth that wait. Where is the order form & little pencils that would hasten a woefully inept, painfully slow counter experience? Expensive fast-food that isn't fast just doesn't seem like a very good deal...

Love the burgers here. They are quite tasty! Only drawback are the fries. They are not as good as other places. They are the skinny kind, and were so short that it seems like a fork is the best way to eat them. Plus they were super greasy. I give this 4 stars based solely on the burger selection and taste.

It is a hamburger that is small and yes, grass fed and organic and whatever. So what, I get the little burgers are better than McDonald's and the fries are kick-ass, but it is a bit pricey and fine for the meal you are seeking to blow your diet.

They use organic grass fed beef and they use olive oil for frying french fries, but they still have corn syrup in the ketchup. And they server the burger in a white bread bun. As for taste, burger is good, fries are ok. Nothing great. -Update I went to eat there yesterday for the first time in awhile and I found out that they use refined olive Oil. Healthy olive oil should be expeller pressed (which would cost them a fortune)

Elevation is worth the occasional lunch stop, but don't go out of your way to eat there. I had the vegetarian burger #2--it was good, if a little bland. I also sampled the regular burger--the beef tasted good, but not particularly flavorful. Elevation is miserly with the toppings, but the hot pepper relish adds some zing to the veggie burger. The bun serves the utilitarian purpose of holding the fillings together--don't expect much taste or texture from the untoasted white bread. Hey Elevation--how about some mesclun mix or at least some romaine instead of the white iceberg lettuce? I liked the fries--at least the thinner ones were crispy, and I'll take the trade-off of losing a little crunch with the olive oil. It felt like a healthier option. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is very clean and comfortable--not always easy to find. With a few tweaks Elevation could really shine--if they were a little more generous with the toppings and made some upgrades to the lettuce and the bun. Are they already in unchangeable corporate mode? I hope not.

Any place that serves 100% organic free range grass fed beef is good by me. And French fries fried in olive oil. The burgers are great. They are currently working on getting organic condiments and high fructose corn syrup free ketchup, etc but they are continuing to improve.

overpriced - CHECK! rude service - CHECK! (what else do you expect from a fast food joint??) f#*(&^ delicious food - CHECK! promo card - discount double CHECK! im all for organic food, the grassfed beef is delicious. i love the toppings and options to add patties, i even tried a vegan and a beef pattie once! LOL only major issue here is that eating at this bad boy will cost a whole wallet. seriously, an order for two can break the bank, almost feel like im in a movie theatre paying ridiculous prices for F'ing popcorn or some syruppy-ass'd soda (syruppy-ass'd, yess thats a word, um just look it up on urbandictionary). WTF? anyway, i only frequent this location because they offer that burger card--i often get two patties so that bad boy fills up quick, i always have two on hand; im sure if i do my math the deal wont be worth it, but i really dont care--need a reason to drop so much $ @ a burger joint. i mean, to me, as far as spending $ at a burger joint is no different than going to BGR, or rogue states, or black and orange--seriously, people that gripe abou the prices need to just hit mcdonalds--and if you think five guys? well, five guys really isnt that much cheaper, and they offer an inferior product. i can go to this elevation get a double burger with a freakin malt keylime pie cheesecake milkshake, and pass out any day of the week--so i'll take that over any and all comers.

I was totally excited for this restaurant to open. Waiting until the first week after opening to visit to let all the kinks to be worked out, I made my visit. I order the cheeseburger, side salad, and drink. 1. The cheeseburger was good for the price. 2. The side salad was terrible. For the price of $2.95, it had lettuce and a tomato. I ask the front desk for a slice of onion and was denied the onion. If you like more than lettuce in your salad don't waste your money. 3. How could you go wrong on a soft drink? It was good. After I tried it, I will stick to Five Guys!!

So i'm giving this a 3 only because the burgers were pretty tasty and can't complain too much about the $$$ - cheaper than i expected w/all the mumbo jumbo organic talk these days... pros: got the standard hamburger - very tasty, it was a good size, didn't feel like i had a log in my stomach and overall the meat was flavorful.. the buns..seems like just a standard pack you buy at the grocery store. cons: fries - i could care less what type of oil is used but the fries were just limp and soggy... you can't even grab one and dip it in ketchup w/out the fries just folding and you end up having ketchup all of your fingers ... use of a fork is a must. so any of the fast food joints (wendys, mcd's, arbys, popeyes) fries will top the ones there. The location in potomac is very small... and the set up is well, like they just placed some tables/chairs randomly and no real thought how to have seating and a manageable line to order food. there are some tables directly next to the so-called line but i'd rather not eat where people are hovering around me - i think on a busy day forget about eating there. but overall staff was friendly...good quick and easy place to grab a bite but i think i'll be headed to 5guys for a quick bite... other than that i'll head to Ray's...

I work in the same office park as this Elevation Burger, so I frequent it about once a week. I have found the customer service to be great, and the food to be above-average every time. The size of the burgers is a bit small, but since I'm more health-conscious, that's a good thing. I usually go for the cheeseburger with caramelized onions, lettuce, and tomato. I love the fresh cheddar cheese and potato rolls! Also, the prices are very reasonable, especially when comparing to competitors like BGR. I do wish that they offered a smaller serving of fries. They are fresh cut on the premises and all they add is salt. It's an added bonus that the the meat is organic/free-range (since it hasn't driven up the price). It would be nice if they offered some kind of combo deal. Right now, everything is a la carte. All in all, highly recommended.

It's a good burger place. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would. The fries were just ok. When I first saw them I loved the idea of shoe string fries but they were cooked in olive oil. I understand the health aspect but olive oil has a lower smoking point so the oil doesn't get hot enough to make them crispy. They ended up being soggier than I would like but still tasty. I think the bun was a potato roll which I loved, it wasnt over powering or too hard too chew. All in all it was a good burger but with places like five guys and BGR so close I prob wouldn't go back unless I was shopping at Harris Teeter.

Overall for this area its pretty good. The burgers taste fresh and I always finish the fries which means they're above average. I like this place, staff are friendly and helpful, clean, and a great alternative to the weak options in your yelp 5 mile radius.

I'd give Elevation Burger 3.5 stars. My wife and I are a split decision on the Five Guys v. Elevation Burger debate. I will admit that Elevation Burger has grown on me over the course of several visits - hence the 4 star rating instead of 3 stars. I typically get the Elevation Burger. Although I don't eat here or Five Guys enough to formulate a true taste test battle in my brain; I'm inclined to go for the Elevation Burger as my preference. The size and taste are comparable to Five Guys' Cheeseburger, the roll is slightly better and they get me with the pickle slices. Plus, the burgers are made with grass-feed beef. The fries - judging by the comments posted - the source of much debate. The fries are the complete opposite to the boardwalk style at Five Guys. The only thing the two have in common is that they both started as whole potatoes. Elevation serves shoestring fries cooked in olive oil. We can testify to the occasional soggy batch. The secret, we have learned, is to order them crispy. When you do this, the fries are sure to come out just right. The fries are much lighter than Five Guys. Try dipping them in the Elevation sauce. I will not say they are better than Five Guys, but I've come to like them. In summary - good burgers on par or slightly better than Five-guys; good (but not great) fries and pretty good value; and very good customer service. I haven't done a cost comparison, but I think Elevation and Five Guys burgers are similar cost. The difference comes in when everyone orders fries individually because Elevation doesn't have the larger serving size for sharing.

I really like this place because of the ingredients. Grass fed beef and olive oil fries that leave you without that gut bomb effect you get leaving other burger joints. The burgers taste good too even though they require well done and there are plenty of topping options.

Love this place! I tried it for the first time this weekend and was impressed. The restaurant is clean, the food is tasty, and the presentation fun. The customer service was excellent too. My boyfriend and I ordered a couple vegan burgers and an order of fries. His came out great and quick along with the fries. I guess they made a mistake on mine because they came out to apologize and said it would be another minute. For making me wait a whole minute extra they threw in a free order of fries. Delish! My burger arrived shortly after just as I ordered. I really appreciate the care they put into making sure it was prepared properly and give them major credit for being proactive. I left a very happy customer. I saw some people thought it was overpriced, but I completely disagree! 3 bucks for free range, grass-fed organic burgers? That's a great price! And vegan options? Who else even has them? I will definitely go back.

I've been going to this elevation burger since it opened, and I have to agree the service left much to be desired, but over the past 5-6 months or so, they've really picked it up. Great burgers, great fries, great service. I even saw two gentlemen who had to wait a few minutes longer than normal (10 - 15 minutes or so) and the manager actually gave them a stamped card (worth a free burger).

My rating: 3.5 stars I actually like this place a lot better than some of the other burger joints in the area (aka Five Guys and Gordon Biersch). I always get the elevation burger (double cheese) with only ketchup and mustard. I don't understand puting mayo on your burger. Euw. I like that they use cheddar instead of american cheese because the sharpness of the cheddar tastes a lot better than the blandness of american. However, it makes the burger even greesier than it already is. The fries are good too. They're very thin and long. However, they are cooked in olive oil which is what sets them apart and makes them the best. I hate peanut oil and anything cooked in it so the use of olive oil is exciting to me. The shakes are pretty good too. I always get the vanilla oreo. The nice thing about this place is that you build you own meal and can customize what you want for your burger and shakes. When you get there, you place your order and give them your name. Then they come and find you with your food. Eat in or take out. You can't call ahead to place an order. You have to place the order to go when you get there. It usually doesn't take too long for your food to come. Maybe 10-15 mins. Or you can place an order to pick up through their website. Overall: decent food for decent prices which makes it a place worth coming back to.

Ok... so boyfriend was i the mood for burgers tonight. Decided to go against my better judgment and try a new place to see if it was any good. I know five guys is good, I know certain Greek places have awesome burgers, but lets go to the new place you see from 270, that you have heard good things about. So... went tonight. Ehhh?!?! It is just like a organic white castle but i would have rather had white castle. The fries were like mushy thin worms that happened to be edible. The burger was small and the best part about it was the Cheddar cheese, that's it. I did enjoy the clausen like pickles that were crunchy and good, but a burger is more than just what the pickles taste like. If the fries were at least crunchy i could get over the thinness of them. Five guys fries are wayyyyyyyy better. Doesn't matter which five guys you go to, the fries will be better. The burger was OK, nothing to write home about, the fries were disgusting. If the fires were better I would have probably given them a 3 star and not a 2. The burger seemed small too, for the price and they have not even close to the toppings at better burger joints. Lesson for today: stick to places that you already know are good!! I am now yearning for a mythos burger or a five guys one and don't forget the fries. I had high hopes and they were shot down. Never again will I make that mistake. To put a positive spin on it... the staff was nice.

Overpriced tasteless miniburgers! Elevation Burgers at Park Potomac is such a disappointment, particularly since we happen to live in that neighborhood and would have hoped for something reasonable nearby. Unfortunately, the menu can easily be memorized, burgers and fries; that's it. The burgers themselves are minuscule and tasteless, and the fries soggy, yet the prices are higher than anywhere else. The atmosphere is that of a cheap fast food joint, inviting you to leave as quickly as possible. I regret to say that I cannot find anything good to say about this restaurant.

I rarely eat burgers. The last time I ate a burger was when I was in New York during the spring, about four months ago. Before that, I can't recall when I had eaten a burger, so when I visited a local Elevation Burger, thanks to my internship mentors, I was expecting a juicy, greasy burger that I'd regret a few hours later. Okay, that's sort of a lie; I looked up the burger joint beforehand and knew the burgers were relatively healthy, but that's besides the point. When I got to Elevation Burger, I was greeted by signs heralding the merits of its 100% grass-fed organic beef, and 100% olive oil fried french fries. Before getting into the taste, here are some facts about 100% grass-fed beef. 4 times less fat than grain-fed, "normal" beef 2 to 4 times more omega-3 fatty acids high amounts of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a healthy fat over 4 times more vitamin E than grain-fed beef source: eatwild.com/healthbenefi… As evident, grass-fed beef is a much healthier version of grain-fed beef. Most burger joints use grain-fed beef. Chances are if a burger doesn't specifically advertise that it is made from grass-fed beef, the burger will be made from grain-fed beef. After all, why would a restauranteur not brag about the quality of the burger when the quality probably cost the restaurant some extra money. However, regardless of whether a burger is grass-fed or grain-fed, the burger will probably still contain a lot of calories once you factor in condiments and buns. One of my mentors actually had a burger wrapped in lettuce instead of buns, which is a great way to really take the healthy burger idea a leap further. As for the taste, the Elevation burger was not bad but not amazing. Is the burger worth the price though? Definitely, the burger I ordered was $5.99; although, some burgers were as low as $3. I had a "Half the Guilt" burger which contains one veggie patty and one beef patty. I asked for Elevation sauce, caramelized onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and hot pepper relish on my burger. The meat itself had a lot of texture because the veggie patty added a ton of soft grit to the burger. I could feel the bits and pieces that comprised the veggie patty rolling around in my mouth. The beef patty on the other hand was soft and delicate. The caramelized onions definitely stood out, because they were cooked to perfection. As a whole, the burger was far from greasy, but the buns did get a little soggy from the Elevation sauce. The french fries, which are fried in olive oil, were thin and crispy. They weren't salted liberally, but the fries had just enough salt. After a while, they got soggy, but even then, I enjoyed eating them. The Elevation Burger fries are definitely some of the better fries I've tasted. Lastly, as a dessert, which I ended up tasting before the burger and finishing after, I had these small cookies. Each cookie is about the size of two quarters and thick as a pencil eraser. The cookies were definitely a highlight of Elevation burger. Somewhat reminiscent of the Momofuku Compost Cookie, the Elevation burger cookie was meltingly soft and incredibly chocolately. Supposedly, there are pecans in the cookie, but the flavor of the dough and chocolate chips overpower the pecans. There are also bits of rolled oats in there. If you like this, read more of my food writing at toastable.com !

I like a good burger and this place makes one. I guess it's closest local competitor is probably 5 guys. I like this place more for the simple fact that I don't feel my arteries clogging by the time I finish my meal, unlike 5 guys which is way too greasy. The toppings taste fresh and the elevation sauce and relish is money. The chocolate banana shake is pretty damn good too.

I thought their burger was pretty good. got the elevation burger (2 beef patties 2 cheese slices) lettuce tomatoes pickles elevation sauce and ketchup, side of fries (shoestring fries) not bad not bad at all. I ordered online for pick up and it was ready when I got there. good stuff.

I mean for a burger it is 4 stars. Try the Silver Spring location at Wheaton Mall-never have had a problem there. Good burger, good fries, good cheddar. No service problems, no burnt burgers, and no long lines. 'Nuff said!

Nina G., They ARE trying to be In-n-Out! If you read their history on their website, you'll know that the owner is from CA and started the chain as he couldn't find a burger equivalent to THE ONE he liked in CA. I don't find their burgers as good as In-N-Out ones (I think Z-burger is much closer to it). And fries were pretty bad. And everything overpriced. Try to take a family of 4 there, and you'll pay more than at a decent sit down restaurant (kids meals included).

As a west coast transplant to the east coast, This is a close In-n-Out equivalent. The food is good, fast, and reasonably priced. The restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. I'm a fan of the "half-the-guilt" burger: one beef/one veggie patty.

I stopped in to grab some lunch before hitting the grocery store. Every time I get groceries on an empty stomach I end up filing the cart with junk! The name through me, I thought they would have these huge burgers. Not to shabby. I got a single cheese burger with pickles, lettuce, tomatoes and caramelized onions. The caramelized onions were the BOMB! The fries were interesting, it was a shoestring fry cooked kinda like Five Guys and very lightly salted. I am going to try the veggie burger next time with the caramelized onions.

3.5 for the food, zero or 1 for the service. The burgers and fries were good. The cheese on the elevation burger actually tasted like cheddar! However i had to wait 35 minutes for 2 burgers and an order of fries. That is ridiculous. Other customers were asking for their money back after waiting over 40 minutes. This place really needs to figure out how to deal with being busy.

If you like small over priced burgers, this is your place. I only come here because its close to my house. I find the staff here to be very rude and not understand customer service. Five Guys from now on for me. I dont think there is any value fir the price and crappy customer servicd. The staff here drive me crazy. They are not the sharpest tools in the shed. For example, on a busy Saturday night they only have one register open, really? Do they feel their customers enjoy waiting in line? Five Guys or even Wendy's are better than this place. Last night was finally the last straw for me. I was bringing this place lots of business but their crappy and rude service made me vow to never return. There is a kid that works the register who looks about 12 years old. I swear, he must be the owners son. He is so rude and disrespectful, I just want to reach over the counter and choke him like Homer Simpson does to Bart. I'm done with this place and will never EVER return. They are suddenly giving out lots of coupons which is a sign of desperation. Won't be long before they go out of business. I have two messages for the owners: 1. Customer is always right 2. You are not in the hamburger business, you are in the CUSTOMER SERVICE business.

After a return trip I have to peel back a star. The burgers are still 4 star good for "fast food" burgers. I wouldn't go that high vs great quality true restaurant burgers. They lose a star for the sides...I told you about the salad before, and I have to agree with the camp that says the fries are not good...No crunch, or crispiness...just soggy...Now after a lackluster side salad and soggy fries, I'm having a hard time finding a situation in which I would need to return. I'll leave it at A-Ok, because it's a good burger... but the 2 star sides make it a losing proposition unfortunately.

As an east coaster, I have been dying for In-N-Out to open over here but it just hasn't happened. Elevation Burger is as close as it gets, but don't expect it to completely satisfy your west coast cravings. Elevation's beef is organic and grass-fed, so it tastes a bit different. Less guilt, less fat, but still juicy, still flavorful. There are a few burger options (including vegan, the Vertigo which can have up to 10 patties), with toppings such as caramelized onions, tomatoes, lettuce, mustard, elevation sauce (yum), etc. Sides also include fries (thin, these were standard) and salad (AVOID AVOID AVOID; it's way too basic and overpriced). They also offer grilled cheese sandwiches. I wish they had a sweet or tangy sauce to go with, because all the flavor profiles are just one note. Expect to pay about $6 for a burger. The line formation is confusing and service is slow (and they definitely didn't do anything about people cutting in front), but they are friendly workers nonetheless. They deliver food to your table and check up on you, which is a nice touch. The wait for a burger can be up to 15 minutes. Only gripe is that my friend was in line at 8:58, and by the time he got to order it was 9:02 and they said they couldn't do anything cause it was closing time. They are probably too new of an establishment (and newly staffed) to realize that by putting in that last order you can make a customer very, very happy with his experience there. Don't forget to get a frequent customer card during checkout!

I like their vegan burgers and the milkshakes are good love the idea of grass fed beef but the ventilation of this place is miserable even the floor is greasy when you walk in and once you walk out your hair your cloth everything smells like the place and I don't like that.

Is it truly elevated or is it on a soap box? Atmosphere: it has the vibe of chicken-out, but for burgers. It was a quiet Wednesday afternoon when I arrived. Clean, neat...brand spanking new. Burger: Chose to go with the most basic. Single hamburger with fresh fries. Grill is steel, not flame broiled. Health codes states that all beef must be cooked to 155 degrees for at least 15 seconds meaning that bacteria is killed. The problem is, is that your burger is well done (especially a thin burger), but the joy of eating a burger is gone unless you put on a bevy of condiments which will ruin the burger. Fries: Thin, long strands (done in the Belgium frites style) and cooked in Olive oil. All that was missing was the fresh parsley. Condiments: Standard ketchup and mustard. Their Mayo (even if it's pre-made) it was nice and light (probably using olive oil as the base) The Elevation sauce....is like your typical secret sauce (mayo/ketchup) base, but this had a slight, spicy kick to it. Service/Staff: Very congenial, friendly attentive. Price: Actually, really nice and fair pricing. Return rate: wait and see attitude right now, because I feel as if they are restricted in how they cook. Bottom line: Their tag is, "Ingredients Matter". They pride themselves on Organic grass fed beef. Problem is...you can't taste really good beef when well, it taste pre-formed, pre-processed and over cooked. It's not so much an elevation of the burger, but a burger striving to be more.

I had to try this place after I read some local burger blog rate this place as better than Ray's Hell Burger. And after trying this place, if I had one phrase to describe it, it'd be: "a freaking joke" Let's start with the hamburger. If you took a slightly-above-average $3 hamburger from a fast-food place, and advertised it as having "organic, hormone-free, grass-fed beef," you'd have an Elevation Burger. The bun was cheap and filled with air, like something you'd buy on clearance from the grocery store. Rating the actual meat "average" would be rather generous. The whole time I ate this, the question that kept coming to mind was: "how is this any different than a hamburger from Burger King, Wendy's, Sonic?" And i'm going to let you all in on a little secret regarding their "Elevation Sauce" -- it's just McDonald's secret sauce (Ketchup + Mayonnaise) with a little extra relish. BFD. Further, the reviewer who had the chutzpah to say that this place had better fries than Five Guys should immediately have his "enjoyment of delicious fried foods" privileges revoked. Are you kidding me? The fries are chewy and tasteless. That this place has made an entry into the gourmet, fast-casual marketplace of DC burgers is a sham. I spent over $9 for a fast-food-esque burger and terrible fries (didnt include drink); that'll be the last time this place gets my business.

Been here several times since it opened since it's really close to home. I think the quality of the burger and fries have gone down every visit. The fries used to be crispy, but now it's just soggy. The grass-fed beef was pretty tasty at first, but yesterday's burger had no taste. For the same price, I would rather go to 5 guys. They have always been consistent, unlike this place.

Three stars for an average experience. My wife and I visited Elevation Burger a few months ago and while it was pretty good I did find some pros and cons: PROS: 1. This meat on this burger is tasty, made with grass fed beef which may make it worth it alone. 2. The fries were pretty darn good too. CONS: 1. Come on, no bacon on your burgers. If I want "healthy" I won't be having a burger and fries to begin with. Washingtonians need to get rid of this typical BS, businesses are starting to zero in on your snobbery right down to your wallets. 2. Overpriced for burgers, period. I'd go here again as I did like the food but it would depend on the options I have available to me.

Stopped in here for take-out for the family early Saturday evening after doing some research on pale-friendly options in our area (we are getting tired of Chipotle and Urban BBQ!). Can't believe we've missed out on them for this long considering how Paleo-friendly they are serving up grass fed beef, cooking their fries in olive oil, and even advertising that they sub buns for lettuce! We tried their fries, a kiddie burger, a triple meat burger, and a double meat burger - all wrapped in lettuce instead of bread. Fries were great if a bit overly salty. I'll ask for light salt next time. Burgers were tasty and fresh, toppings plentiful but they slid around a bit during transport. We'll eat in next time. I didn't find it terribly pricey, especially not for grass fed beef. Love that they have a promo card, which almost filled up in that one order! We paid around $22 for dinner for 2 adults and a toddler. Will most definitely be back!

This place is not bad for the idea they are trying to go for. The prices are a little high but its all organic. You pay for what you get. The only thing I did not like is how the wrap they burger. This makes the burger wet and soggy.

Since ALL of the reviews for this location are all over the place I will make this one simple. For two people, $15 is a great price for a fully customizable burger and fries. Fries are a bit soggy (olive vs vegetable oil), and the burger is messy (poss the 8 toppings i put on it), but otherwise it is a great lunch spot.

Oh, how I wanted to like this place. It's four minutes from my house and not McDonald's, so I thought it might be a good go-to place for quick and greasy goodness. Service is friendly, the place is clean, they give you a bonus card to earn a free burger, but the cheeseburger was so disappointing. I was starving when I ate it, and I didn't even finish it, it was that mediocre. It made me un-hungry. Responses to other reviews: Comparing the burger to In-n-Out is just asking for trouble and setting it up to fail. The burger is similar in size and shape, but the comparison is flawed because Elevation burgers have no taste whatsoever. I have never complained about too much pickle on a burger (I love pickles) but that's all I tasted on this one--it is cut too thick and putting it on the bottom bun means my teeth catch on that instead of the patty. Honestly, the burger came in below McDonald's, and I don't even like McDonald's. The fries are not frites style. They are just thin fries that were limp by the time I got home, 4 minutes away. For good frites, go to Amsterdam Falafelshop in Adams Morgan. For actual fries, go to McDonald's in Cabin John. Organic environmental blah de blah is all well and good (and I am a fan of sustainable food practices), but the food has to taste like something, and this doesn't. I should have taken five more minutes and gone to 5 Guys in downtown Rockville.

This is one of my favorite places for burgers. Not only is it organic, but juicy and tasty! It's actually halal meat if anyone wants to eat that...super yummy and satisfying! Their fries could use some work, though.

I love going here for a quick lunch. The burgers are greasy but good, veggie burgers are awesome, fries are excellent! Who cares about the service? I don't need the workers to romance me if the food is good.

This place is okay. When you enter, it's a decent size space, and there is also outside seating if you feel the need to enjoy the nice weather outside. I ordered the 'Elevation burger' here, which is essentially a two beef patties burger. I got the original toppings, which is 'elevation sauce', lettuce, tomato, cheese (if you want) and pickles. Then, they have a list of other toppings you would like to add to it, but in my opinion it's very limited; they can definitely get more creative here, and add some unique things. As of now, it's just pickles (already comes with), raw onion, caramelized onion, etc. This needs improvement. Variety is the spice of life. The burger itself is kind of small. I think it's a big plus that they use organic ingredients and meat. However, the taste was okay, nothing special and I've had better tasting burgers. They can improve on here too. I also got fries. The fries were just okay. They seemed somewhat greasy, but they didn't pour a bucket of salt on it like some other places, so that's a good thing. Elevation burger, fries, and a drink came out to be $10.50 for me. I felt like for the price, there was still more to desire quality wise, but I didn't mind the smaller portion. However, if you are a bulk eater, and really care about the portion size, you probably won't be happy. Oh, and they provide incentive for you to come back there if you like their burgers; just get one of those cards that they stamp for you every time you eat there. I think after 7, you get a free burger.

I had a good vibe about this place in my search for an alternative to Five Guys. I really want something to hit the spot like the California chains that we don't have access to. Firstly, the biggest mistake five guys makes is overcustomization. I don't like too many options, I just want a burger that tastes good. You guys decide for me and give me the most popular thing you have, stop making me "cook" my own meal by haphazardly putting things together. The burger was small for what it was, it may have been advertised as healthy but felt really greasy from liberal olive oil usage. The fries were just crap, can't really describe them any other way. They tasted soggy and no amount of ketchup could have saved them, perhaps there is a reason fries are cooked in "less healthy" oils. All in all, underwhelming. I'd rather get five guys, and both chains are overpriced for what they advertise as a burger. Give me a skillet, a stick of butter, and some fresh tomatoes, ketchup, pickles, onions with thousand island sauce and I can top that one. On the bright note, the staff here is excellent. There's really nothing more they could have done with the product.

I read the other reviews before going to Elevation Burger, but it seems to me like they are working to turn things around. My fiance and I went because we had a buy one burger get one free coupon. But even without the coupon, I thought the prices were very reasonable. Under $6 for a double patty burger and under $4 if you want a veggie or vegan burger. And fries were only $2.49 and definitely big enough to share between 2 people. The line wasn't that long, staff brought us our food since we were sitting outside, and they checked in on us throughout our meal. They also threw out our trash after we were done. The burger was so tasty!! We got the Elevation Burger. Good quality meat, good bun, fresh toppings. The fries were the skinny kind, but they were really yummy as well. We will definitely be back. But be forewarned...the parking at the Park Potomac SUCKS!! We drove around for a long time before we could find a spot, and it was really far away from the restaurant. Oh, and there are a ton of kids.

Absolutely love Elevation Burger! Makes me feel better about eating a burger knowing that their meat is grass-fed. I ordered the Elevation Burger; two patties and double cheese. Cheddar cheese heaven :) I tried the elevation sauce one time and it made the burger soggy so I never got it again. Probably best to get it on the side and just dip your burger in it. The grilled cheese sandwich wasn't that great, so IMO, stick to the burgers.

Awesome concept and awesome food! Elevation cooks their fries in olive oil and uses free-ranging, grass-fed, organic ground beef. Additionally, their veggie burgers are cooked separately from their meat-containing items. The fries IMO were better than those at Five Guys. They're as thin as those sold at In-N-Out and Steak n' Shake, for those of you who have been to either. The meat in the burgers didn't taste as good as that served at the other better burger chains, but their cheddar cheese was quite bold and when combined with the caramelized onions, the sandwich was delicious. To top it all off, they have DELICIOUS mini-cookies.

My husband & I went tonight-- burger & fries craving, & just read about Elevation Burger again, so figured it was worth a try. We LIKE the organic, grass- fed concept-- just try reading Omnivore's Dilemma & think of eating any other kind of beef again, & I'd have to site major denial! The double patty was good, but we like medium rare, & this wasn't. Fries were delicious, & service was quick, friendly & very helpful. A really cute guy came over several times to check-in w/ us, & we told hi, the burgers were more well- done than we like, & he kindly told us what to ask for next time. They picked up our remnant to when we were done, & we really did appreciate the great service. For that reason alone, we will definitely return, though we're usually slurping pho! We. That urge for a burger comes again though, we'll be back!

Elevation burger is good....been to one in Virginia. Here though the food wasn't warm and the service was a little off. The cashier called the previous guest a B!T@$ so I was a little weird-ed out.

My appreciation for the Elevation Burger is waning. The burgers just aren't very tasty to me. The pairing of olive oil french fries and burgers always perplexed me. Olive oil fries and a cheddar cheese burger just don't seem to match. I really want to love the burgers. I mean organic, grass-fed beef sounds nice in theory, but in practice it makes for a grassy-tasting burger. But the service is excellent. The staff is always friendly. They almost always seem to take that one extra step to make you feel welcome. The restaurant is clean. This focus on the customer is big thing. And I respect that. 2.5 Stars

WOW......you people meaning reviews RIGHT BELOW specifically......NEED to get OUT more!!!!! After reading some of these VERY LONG reviews.....probably managers or worker bees from the establishment.....you make it seem like RAINBOWS will protrude outta your behind after digesting one of these burgers. Not so. Not with me. You? Anybody? Anybody? This is like taking Wendy's RED or Five Guys RED concept changing it to a nice ocean BLUE and throwing some burgers out there.... My double bacon cheeseburger $10 with da fries tasted and felt just like a Wendy's loose meat patty burger and they have the same toppings. 'CEPT it took 25 minutes to get my order at 8:30PM on a weekday. The fries were handcut and very salty but Wendy's are better..... This place no comparison to the Good Stuff Eatery or Ray's Hell Burger soooooo if you haven't had a burger in 15 years and wanna make it special and memorable then go to one of those places.... Just sayin'

After hearing about this burger place from a co-worker, I decided to take his recommendation and try the burgers at Elevation. The website is great, and certainly helped make ordering a pain-free process. I went to Elevation with a friend and we both tried the plain cheeseburger with our choices of toppings and a side of fries. The fries were shoestring style and weren't anything to brag about. Most of my fries were soggy and soft, and lacked crispiness. The hamburger was wrapped in wax paper and was the perfect size. The bun and toppings I chose didn't overload the burger and everything could be held together by the buns. I hate when burgers are overpacked and the buns get soggy and you end up eating the burger in non-proportional amounts. This was not the case. The burger was delicious and was quick to finish off. Quality of ingredients is definitely apparent. Fries are cooked in olive oil, and the beef is all from organic grass fed cows. However, unlike other hamburger places I've been to, there wasn't anything about my Elevation experience that stood out that would convince me to come back. And that I think, is the problem. The meat wasn't particularly awesome, neither were the fries or toppings. I will say, everything about my Elevation experience was fresh, as in all the ingredients. You definitely come away not feeling like you just ate a giant ball of grease (like 5 guys).

So, it's a good veggie burger, and it's great that they have a vegan veggie burger. And I love that the fries are fresh, the meat is grass-fed etc, and they are very aware of the environment. But... I didn't really love my meal. The bun was just a normal bun, and the toppings were exceptionally skimpy - all in all aside from the burger patty itself it seemed like a fast food meal, and it isn't fast food prices. The fries were fresh but cut so thin that they were full of oil. And they tasted... metallic? Something weird. I ate them all however because otherwise there just would not have been enough food for a meal. I really expected to love this place, but sadly I just didn't.

Plus: The fries, made shoestring style, cooked in olive oil. Lightly salted. They got a little soggy on the way home, but still was perfect. Con: the cookie I got was pretty much dry, felt a little like eating a doggie treat. When it came to the burger, i felt that it was a little lacking. I think they could have added a little more to give the burger more depth and make it filling. CLOSED BY 9! No Time for late night snacking! Overall Thoughts: When you go to Elevation burger, bear in mind that you are paying for "Organic" food. This means that it may be healthier, tastier, and a bit more pricey... all but 2 of those are mostly based on your perception. Also, I think a choice of buns would make the burger more enjoyable. Although, it's a good concept to allow for the burger be healthier. I may go back, but next time, it'll be a lettuce covered double burger (but i'm not so sure it's worth the price).

I'll tell you what... This place isn't going to blow your taste buds away, and purely based on food, it won't be all that memorable. But I have to say that the service was great, everyone was smiling behind the counter, and truly seemed to get along and be enjoying themselves. That's always a good thing, and rarely seen. I also like the fact that they aren't following the mold, and incorporating benefits to the environment in a lot of their practices. Problem is, I don't think all of that is enough to bring me back. I don't think I'm disappointed, just not blown away.

i returned today after enjoying my first visit more about a month ago, and i was disappointed that today's meal did not meet my expectations. make no mistake, the elevation burger continues to be delicious. but as my friend noted, the burger wasn't fully satisfying. i was still hungry after eating the burger. i can't say that i've ever felt that way after leaving the burger joint or five guys. the fries, however, were still a hit. the rest of the review has to do with the restaurant itself. while the staffers are friendly and courteous as they come around to each individual table and asking patrons if they needed anything, the process of taking orders was laborious. it took one staffer a good five minutes to try to run a customer's credit card and she finally had to ask her colleague for help. and fountain drinks were unavailable because the dispenser was broken. all in all, a less-than-satisfying experience and one that will likely compel me to go elsewhere for a burger and fries.

This is the East Coast, knock off version of In&Out.!!! Granted that it's tasty and the ingredients are fresh, and I'm from California and LOVE the burgers from In&Out. But it's not unique that they say they are. My husband ordered an elevation burger( In&Out's double double), my friend ordered a hamburger, and I ordered a cheeseburger. We all ordered it with elevation sauce, which is the equivalent of the secret sauce of In&Out. My husband ordered the Fancy fries, which is fries and elevation sauce, cheese, and relish. Just their version of the animal style fries at In&Out.

Step aside 5 Guys...you've been replaced in my burger lovin' heart. I wasn't expecting to like Elevation...I was expecting all of the grass-fed hype to be mumbo jumbo. I was wrong. So very, very wrong. You can really truly taste the difference in the meat...it's meatier? Whatever it is, it's crazy good. The addition of real sharp cheddar doesn't hurt either. The shoestring fries are dark, salty and greasy...just the way I like them. They're fried in olive oil, and although I can't really taste a difference, I didn't feel like I wanted to pump my stomach after eating an order. Get the Original Elevation with onions. Then get an Elevation frequent diner card 'cause you'll be back. The next day.

Originally planned on going to Shake Shack with some friends but we decided to settle on the more convenient Elevation Burger. Worst. Decision. Ever. Burger - About the size of a whopper jr., tasted alright, but cant really justify paying 5.99 plus tax for a tiny piece of organic beef, elevation sauce tasted strangely like big mac sauce too. Fries - Terrible, just terrible. I noticed a couple reviews said their fries were soggy, soft, lacked crispiness, etc. We got the exact opposite. The fries they served us are like the little bits of fries that get stuck on the bottom of the fryer that are normally thrown away. You know, the ones that are so greasy that they instantaneously crumble upon biting them and explode with oil. When we asked the guy who served us if these were normally how their fries were and if they were old, he told us plainly with a straight face that they were not old at all. Im pretty sure he almost died inside trying to hold that straight face as he walked away. The only redeeming part of the meal is that they had cherry coke on the fountain, not many places offer cherry coke as far as I know. Definitely stay away if you're looking for a decent burger/fries meal, MAKE THAT EXTRA DRIVE TO SHAKE SHACK....or BGR which is infinitely better than this place.

Decent upscale burger place in expensive neighborhood. Next to Harris Teeter if you need to place it. It's in the same vain as five guys- all they pretty much have are burgers, veggie burgers, etc. Choose/customize your burgers with various toppings. I like their elevation sauce which is a tomato-based thingy. My burger was quite juicy and good. I prefer Five Guys, but Elevation has shakes, which is sorely lacking at Five Guys. For whatever dumb reason I didn't order the fries when I was there. They looked good on other people's plates.

This place is like a really bad imitation of In and Out Burger. It's expensive. The last 2 times I've been there, they put the wrong toppings on my burger. It's greasy and the meat patties are small. I don't like the fries- they are trying to be like Boardwalk fries- but they are greasy and have very little potato flavor. I have not had a shake yet...but I'd rather go to Cheeburger Cheeburger to get my burgers and shakes from now on.

  • Christian M.

I never actually tried their actual burgers only their veggie burgers which surprisingly tasted pretty well, didn't quite satisfy me but still very flavorful. Their fries aren't anything special, especially if you're trying to compare them to Five Guys.. just isn't on the same level as them. Their shakes & malts are probably the best thing this place has to be honest. They aren't any of that sugary syrup crap you get at some of the big fast food restaurants, these are genuine ice cream, fresh fruit in blender fresh shakes. Not too many shops I could say this about where I could grab a decent bite to eat along with a great shake all in one.

  • Chris B.

i meant it didn't taste bad, its a pile of greasy meat and cheese... that being said, comparatively it is a pretty weak sauce, under flavored, undersized burger. ill take five guys or z burger any time over elevation. if your motto is going to be "ingredients matter" try to avoid store brand potato rolls and pickled jalapenos. also consider offering bacon, mushrooms, and other cheeses besides cheddar. plus don't serve veggie burgers

Stick with 5 Guys. Burger was small and average taste. Fries were soggy--I watched the staff re-fry already cooked batch. The staff was very young and 4 of them standing around with only 2 customers in the store. My order should have been made a lot faster.

  • Catherine S.

I like these burgers, and the place is clean..most likely because it is new. I think the burgers are better than Five Guys, though everyone else I've dined with here disagrees. To me, the meat is clearly better than 5G's. I think they may season it with something salty to improve the taste. Superstitious folk who believe salt is bad could object. Then again, such people would not be eating burgers, would they? Neither of my dining companions liked the fries. I thought they were fine, but they are not better than 5G's. Olive oil is not the optimal oil for fries. I would say peanut oil is, but omega 3 omega 6 yadda yadda who cares. But still, they were not bad fries, just not memorable. Why not serve vinegar as a condiment? This would improve the fries. My husband missed the peanuts, such as they have at Five Guys. I think part of the fun of peanuts is making a gigantic mess everywhere. Maybe this is a man thing since other (males) have also mentioned the absence of peanuts. To me, this lack of peanuts is a plus because I hate messes and watching people make messes. The important thing was the burgers...the meat is better and they taste better.

In short, Elevation Burger is a local chain that tries to be a "healthier" Five Guys on the merits of grass-fed beef and olive oil-fried fries. I think a recent Google Talk conversation I had with my friend, Toby, provides a sufficient explanation of my Two-Star review. Enjoy: Toby: trying Elevation Burger for the first time... new place in Germantown me: ooh, we have one here at park potomac Toby: cool Sent at 1:44 PM on Tuesday me: how'd you like it? Toby: it's ok... i like the flavored coke more lol me: flavored coke? like did they have a soda fountain? Toby: yeah you pick the syrup me: crazy. and that's what i hate about elevation burger. they try to market themselves under a guise of ego-friendly, healthy, "grass-fed" beef, (nasty) fries cooked in "heart-healthy" olive oil, yet they ACTIVELY market one of the leading contributors to obesity and waste in this country: sodas. And they're not even organic. And then how hard would it be to get organic, or LOCAL even, ice cream in there with some gluten-free waffle cones? I mean, if you wanna play the Earth ethics card, you need to go all the way or you're just an entrepreneuring fraud. Toby: yeah, i'd rather go to five guys me: fuck yeah Toby: at least they're straight up me: xactly i think i'm going to use my rant about HELLevation burger as a yelp review, if you don't mind i mean, did you TRY the fries? Toby: lol yeah horrible me: hahaha They're going down. Next on my list: take down a shitty chain. Sent at 2:06 PM on Tuesday me: I've already taken down that Coat of Arms cave AND Crossfire Burgers in Bethesda. Yeah, that placed closed. Probably because they were so devastated by my review that they just threw down their greasy towels drenched in bleu cheese dressing and said, "Fuck it. It's over." Toby: lol

Let me first preface in saying that this was my first hamburger in 15 years. I've had my fair share of turkey burgers and a few veggie burgers, but no 100% beef hamburger. So forgive me if I don't compare this place to other burger places because the last hamburger I had was a Big Mac near my university 15 years ago. I ordered the cheeseburger for me and the elevation burger (2 patties with cheese) for the bf. Both had the "original" toppings (elevation sauce, tomatoes, lettuce, and pickle) and caramelized onions. We also ordered a side of fries. (I was curious because they were cooked in olive oil) The ordering process was fairly easy...you wait in line, give your order, give them your name and they stamp a frequent visitor card for each patty ordered. After 7 patties, your 8th one is free. Once your order is ready they bring it to your table. Anyhow, back to the food...the burger absolutely melted in my mouth. The smells and textures brought back so many memories that I began wondering why did I wait 15 years to eat another hamburger. After the 5 minutes it took to devour the burger, I was pretty satisfied. That is when I turned my attention to the fries. I'm usually not a huge fries fan because I don't like the grease and I know my personal trainer would kill me if he found out. But when I saw they were cooked in olive oil, I thought I'd give them a try. After all, I am in Potomac and my trainer is in DC...so what happens in Potomac, stays in Potomac. Besides, isn't there a rule that if you eat something outside of your zip code those calories don't count? Like I said, I'm not a huge fries fan but I did enjoy these fries. They weren't too oily and I didn't even need ketchup to consume them. Overall, my experience here was quite satisfying. I don't think I'll be waiting another 15 years for my next hamburger.

Burgers here are great. Fries are soft but they still taste good. Ordered a chocolate shake and it tasted like banana too. Also, was double charged the day I went in. It's been over a week and I still haven't had a refund although it's supposed to be coming soon. I would have liked to have seen the management offer a free burger, drinks, fries,or any freebie for the inconvenience - no dice.

I went here as a friend in my car was raving about it. We have different tastes it seems. The burger I thought was top notch. It was tender, flavorful and the real cheddar cheese was quite good. I think it's a really good burger. Service was fast and the place is clean. The downfalls were partly mine and totally theirs. I tired the hot pepper relish and it was way too vinegary to be served with a burger. It was the type of relish that might be served with Italian cold cuts. This stuff doesn't belong on beef unless it's salami and there's a drizzle of olive oil on it. My bad for ordering it but why is something so anti-beef on the menu? The other issue is the fries. Olive oil is not good for deep frying. You can't get it hot enough without it burning. The advantage of peanut oil, lard and other combo oils is that they can be heated to 450 degrees. When you drop starchy fries into something that hot, steam quickly escape at an almost microscopic level and the oil can't penetrate and soak in to the potatoes, a crust forms and the inside stays light and fluffy. When you deep fry in a olive oil you can't get it that hot without it smoking, burning and tasting rancid. The steam doesn't leave the potato uniformly, the oil soaks in and what could be light and fluffy is no greasy all the way through. I love olive oil and I have about 4 kinds on my counter right now. However, I don't deep fry in it and they should either. Burger - 4 stars Fries - 2 stars Service and cleanliness - 5 stars Idea to deep fry in olive oil - 1 star I'll try it again but if the fries don't improve the only way I'll go back is if I can bring my own potato chips.
