This is a great little pizza place for the family! I ordered a calzone. My Italian side comes out and I can get picky with my calzones.. so I will say this one was not amazing, but it was pretty good! I ate it all :-) Overall, this is a pretty laid back place and there isn't a lot of seating, but for a bite to eat after a soccer game or carry out for the family, I think it is perfect! Oh, note to the parents.. They do serve beer and a couple cocktails!

After reading these reviews I am beginning to wonder if most people even know what good or even just decent food is. I took my daughter and her friend to get some lunch today and even the girls thought that the food was barely edible. I ordered the chicken Parmesan baked ziti which consisted of penne pasta in a flavorless, had to be from a can, sauce and clearly frozen breaded chicken that was dry. My daughter ordered a personal pepperoni pizza and again the sauce was downright gross and flavorless. Her friend ordered meat ravioli that was drenched in a flavorless sauce, clearly from a can. Even the bread that came with our pasta dishes was not properly toasted and drenched in butter.

We really want this place to do well. I would love to have a local watering hole that has great pizza and beer. The food is not made with love. The sandwiches and salads are nothing special. The pizza is not great either. We ordered a month back and never got our order. I can echo the other reviewers who complained about the person on the phone. She needs to be trained or removed. This is a restaurant that you would see on Restaurant Impossible. The owner needs some tough love or the place is going to close.

The food is pretty good, the service is friendly, they are kid friendly and you don't have to wait for a table. They are a better value than anything else around. You'd pay a 1/3 more for the same thing in Kentlands. What is very nice is the beer selection. They do have some Nascar beer if that's what you're into, bot they also have a solid selection on draft and in the bottle at reasonable prices.

We love Cugini's. Their pizza is delicious, they have some great subs, and since the ownership changed, there are constant premises, menu, and bar improvements. Speaking of their bar, they do a great job of getting rotating, local handles, do regular tastings, and have a great happy hour. It's a great local spot and you can't beat their pizza BOGO deal on Monday and I love their new ordering app for when I have a sleeping toddler in the car/room.

This place is the worst Italian wanna be place in Maryland. They're food is all frozen and tasteless and the women up front couldn't have been more surley and unfriendly. I will never eat there again and neither should you..

This place isn't worth the trip. Food is ok but nothing special; as in all the ingredients are there but it's not flavorful. Service is ok - not overly friendly but gets the job done. Very expensive for what it is.

I moved to Poolesville less than a year ago and immediately started going to Cugini's. For some reason I just liked the pizza and atmosphere and regularly took my daughter there to eat lunch. I was having people over and decided to place an order for carryout. I ordered 1 large 2 topping pizza and 1 extra large specialty pizza. I also had the Poolesville HS card which gives you free cheesy bread if you buy an extra large pizza. When I went to pick up the pizza, my order came to $38 which I thought was a little high, it should have came to just under $31. I asked her to confirm the price since it did not seem right, which she opened the menu and said that it looked to be right, not even adding anything up. She also told me that the credit card machine was not working. I did not have any cash so I walked to the atm machine next door, again I liked this place so much I didn't mind the $3 atm surcharge but it would have helped to know that when I called in the order. When I came back I told the cashier that I was pretty sure that the price was wrong and I added it up on the menu. She informed me that they had changed their prices and that she had told the owner to update the menu to reflect them. I told her that even the prices online reflected the old price to which she stated she knew that too but did nothing to fix the situation and looked as if she didn't even care honestly. I wanted to cancel my order but since I had people at my house waiting for food I was stuck in a tough spot so I paid. I understand that Poolesville is a little far out and don't mind paying slightly more for things but I just feel like I was ripped off from everything from the $3 atm fee to the $7+ that wasn't listed on any of their menus. I would give them a pass on one mess up but not everything added up on this visit. If you decide to go, I would double check what you are charged, and be prepared to it not being remedied. I have written this place off and will get my pizza from Christopher's from now on.

Based on the pizza alone they deserve a 5. I have been all over Montgomery County looking for that perfect pizza, the one that takes me back to when I was a kid and I lived for Saturday night - Pizza Night. I've found some that were close, but none as good as this place. To me it all comes down to crust, and theirs has just the right amount of crunchy outside and chewy inside. The sauce is sweet and addicting. The toppings are fresh and plentiful. I'm no food critic but I like their pizza best, hands down. To be honest I haven't been in the bar area, and since I live 45 minutes away I don't get delivery, so I can't speak to those topics. The dining area is spartan, the service is polite if a bit slow. I also tried the buffalo wings, which are unique, not the best I've had but not too bad either. But I don't go there for the wings. Overall I recommend.

Depends on who's working but not bad. There's nothing too special about the food but they do have a good selection of beer.

Over a year has passed since my unhappy review. Since things have been much better I felt it was only fair to reflect this with an updates review. They have different people answering the phones. Hooray!!! Since my issues were service and not food related this makes me VERY happy!

Cugini's was much better than I expected. On our way to Markoff's Haunted Forest, we stopped here for some pre-scare fueling up. The zucchini sticks were obviously frozen but delicious. The double decker cheese bread (kinda like they just took a pizza without sauce and folded it over itself) for $5 was definitely necessary. Last but not least, the pizza was actually pretty tasty. They also serve a variety of subs, specialty pizzas, beer and wine for super-reasonable prices. Their deals on Mondays, Tuesdays (pizza comes with 10 free wings) and Wednesdays definitely also seem worth checking out. If you're in the area, definitely check out Cugini's. My guess is it's probably the best cheap meal you'll find in the area.

Friendly service and good pizza/subs for a small town joint. You won't confuse it with gourmet pizza...but it is definitely the best pizza option within 20 miles if you ever find yourself hungry in Poolesville.

I have been there maybe ten times in the past two years. The only reason I kept going back was because until two weeks ago I thought they had the best gyro around (I don't think much of anything else I have tried here). The service has always been terrible and the staff surly, despite the highly anticipated change in management. Last month I called to place an order and the girl on the phone didn't know what a chicken parm was (it's on the menu). I repeated my order three times, she put me on hold, and then never actually managed to get the sides I ordered onto the ticket. She said 20 minutes, I showed up 20 minutes later, and still had to wait 15+ minutes. The last time I went in there two weeks ago, the girl behind the counter saw me walk in then she took a lengthy phone call while I waited. I have run the front desk of a busy business, and I would always deal with the person in front of me rather than take a call (she could've asked the other person to hold). The place was empty and I could see my food waiting in the window. When she got off the phone, she asked for my name, I told her my name but said "but the guy who took my order never asked my name, I just ordered the gyro up there." She insisted on looking up my order in the computer by my name, again I told her I never gave it, and she mumbled something about "sometimes it comes up" despite the fact that she couldn't find my name in the computer. Then she asked for my name again and she read to me all the names in the computer; she seemed annoyed. I again told her what I ordered and finally she went to the window, looked at the ticket, and said "gyro?" As I said before, the gyro used to be great, exactly as a textbook gyro should be. This last time, the meat was cubed (rather than strips) and dry, no pepperoncini, greasy bread, and clumsily put together. The straw that broke the camel's back on never returning was that I could see directly into the kitchen through the open door, and saw the guy who was preparing take out meals, wearing gloves, shoving food into his mouth!

To say that Cugini's Authentic Italian Cuisine is "Authentic" is a bit of a stretch. It's a pizza and sub shop in a strip mall that has two things going for it: they serve beer and make fresh pizza. The rest is so-so. I'm not sure where their meatballs come from but are definitely not made from scratch. I asked. As for the rest of the items on the menu, you're on your own. I suggest you stick to the pizza and beer.

We always go to Cuginis for steak and cheese sandwiches and cold beer after golf at Poolesville. Best steak and cheese in the area. Great service from Tina.

The new owner changed the menu at least 3 months ago. I've tried to order one of the new dishes (Buffalo Chicken Dip) at least 6 times. Each time being told, that they don't have it. Additionally, the prices are inflated and the person who answers the phone is clueless!

With the exception of Pizza Hut's pan pizza, Cugini's has my favorite pizza - when they make it right. Occasionally you get a bad apple working there that doesn't stick to protocol, but 9 out of 10 times, the pizza is fantastic for my taste. Not too expensive if you get the free pizza special on Monday nights. Nice, fancy bar, party room and football on TV.

Pizza here was not bad for Poolesville, MD I guess. After an afternoon of Christmas tree shopping, this place was close by and seemed the easiest option for dinner. The pizza sauce was a bit sweet for my taste, the cheese was a bit heavy, and the crust not crispy enough, but as Yelper Pritha R of Brooklyn once wrote me, "The thing is, even bad pizza is pretty good, isn't it? Like that crap whisky that you bolt down after a terrible day: bad pizza is better than no pizza. It get's the job done." I'm sorry but I really can't add to that bit of wisdom. Plus Cugini's had Peroni on draft and friendly, patient people helping us non-regulars. Two large pies and some salads were perfect for our party of six. When you're with family recounting tales of Thanksgiving over a pitcher and a few slices, all is right with the world I guess. Should I ever find myself back here, I'd definitely treat myself to one of their many gelatos, one of which they cheerfully let me sample.
