OK first let me say I am not sure if this is the right one cause they have 2 locations and I have only been to one had my husband drives so I don't really pay attention but either way the food was good. I really like the Shrimp Bis soup and the taco platter I get one lingua and one Lamb which is you have a lamb taco you are good with me. Both are well seasoned and they give you beans and rice and fixing with it. I plan to try the lamb shank one day when he budget can afford a $28 plate.

It's been two year since I last reviewed Mari Luna Mexican Grill. This restaurant remains one of my favorites. Great dishes that go beyond the typical tex-mex. The matamoros steak, grouper in a tortilla crust, and the best Ceviche in town. The prices remain very low as the owner has a higher end and higher priced (though still reasonable) just up the road. I had the Ceviche and two tacos - steak and lingua (tongue) tonight and they were both wonderful. I'd love to see the chef do something with a main course beef tongue. It is rarely served anywhere but when done right it is absolutely delicious. (Orchard Cafe in Timonium has tongue on the menu).

I've heard so many good things about Mari Luna and it was literally the worst dining experience I've ever had in my life. And my table of 6 other people agreed. The biggest problem was our server. We knew things would be bad when we still hadn't received our guacamole after 20 minutes and then she came back out to retake our entire order. We arrived just as the Sunday brunch buffet was ending (it looked really good, sorry I missed it) and there had also been some type of party going on, so perhaps that threw them off...? They did not have salteñas that day and that was something that a couple of people in our group were really looking forward to ordering. The food took ages to come out. We were there for over 2 hours because the service was so incredibly slow that day. And then, no extra pico, beets on a salad when it was requested without beets, hair in the salad, dry meat (steak and chicken), just totally unimpressive food. I'm sure our experience would have been more positive if we had a better server but with so many other average Mexican restaurants to choose from, I won't be giving this place a second chance.

This location is quaint but the food is OHmazing!! The chicken & shrimp chimichanga was beyond deelish. It was huge and definitely could not finish it in one sitting. It was seasoned to perfection and the salsa, pico de gallo & guacamole was great with it. This is my 2nd time at this location and they don't disappoint. They have a big selection to choose from. My dad got the platter for one- Shrimp topped with Imperial Crabmeat, Lamb Chop, Skirt Steak & BBQ Pork Ribs. He raved about his food for 3 days straight and my friend got the Chicken Taco Salad which she really liked.

One of our most favorite places to go. Whether your going with a friend or a group - you can't really go wrong. Wait staff is wonderful and the place is super clean. Good drinks, food, and prices.

We were the only guests when we first arrived. That quickly changed as the dinner hour picked up. Our waiter Jefferson was helpful and knowledgeable. A chewy, doughy bread was brought out to us after we sat. We had the Veracruz guacamole which was served with a decent salsa and colourful chips. I ordered the Bahama Mama. Good drink served in a tall glass for $7.50 I ordered the grouper and a side of sweet, sticky plantains.

This place is no Mexican. Tex--mex, perhaps? While the service was ok, the food is not. We order enchiladas, steak tacos and fish tacos. The enchiladas dish is just a mess of a bland sauce covered with a very low quality cheese. The steak tacos were just ok but nothing special. The fish tacos were a disaster. I think they use frozen fish sticks to make the fish tacos. We will not come back.

One of the better Mexican Places around! Mari Luna is quaint Mexican shop that offers good food, for good prices along with good portions and service. Its a WIN WIN The menu is pretty standard, when compared to other Mexican places, so big surprises here. Once seated my wife ordered an order or nachos along with a veggie fajita for her and chicken and rice for me! I could not decide between a couple items and the server mentioned the Chicken and rice and how great it was, sold! First up the nachos... get chips and the beans and cheese were great as well. Lots of flavor but the chips still stayed crispy, big plus! Second item, Veggie Fajitas - Mari Luna offers a wide array of veggies not just peppers and onions which is great! and they basically let you customize what you want and how much oil you want (my wife likes lots of veggies and low to no oil) The fajitas where great and all the veggies looked and tasted fresh! Lastly, the chicken and rice... what a meal! It was huge! I finished maybe half of it and took the rest home for a whole meal! The chicken was great, flavor filled, moist not dry and it was cuttable via a fork. The rice was awesome as well and complimented the chicken. The rice had tons of veggies in it and they were all seasoned very well and had great texture and flavor. A great dish and one I would highly recommend. Lastly the service and prices. The service was great, always had an answer to any question and all the drinks and such were always refilled and full! I also think the prices are on point. You get a whole lot of food for a standard price, so win for me! Overall Mari Luna is a great spot to have dinner or lunch! The service, prices, food and taste are all top notch and I would recommend check it out if you are in the area. So grab your sweatpants and head on down to Mari Luna... the portions are big!

Not the baja Cali taste I was looking for but still tasty. Service was good and it was nice meeting the owners. The portions were plentiful. I have a trio platter of pupusa, enchiladas and taco with rice n beans. I ordered ceviche to share with 2 others. Mom had a trio platter and dad had a huge chimichunga. I probably won't be back because i didn't find the taste i was looking for but like i said still pretty good, fast and nice service.

Beautiful any time of day! We love the surf and turf for two! It includes lobster, shrimp stuffed with imperial crabmeat, lamb, spare ribs and filet mignon. It was absolutely delish! The drinks here are good as well.

Bland Mexican food? I never thought I would experience such a thing. Tasteless and soggy tostadas, flavorless refried beans, and just plain chile relleno. The only decent thing in our order was the free salsa they threw in for some reason. But our order was ready pretty fast and was correct. I'm still on the hunt for decent Mexican in Baltimore - someone help!

This place has great Mexican food! The burritos are quite large and the chips and salsa they bring you have really good flavor. Enjoy that it's BYOB!

I seriously loved everything about this place. First off, service was extremely quick. Once we were seated, chips and salsa quickly came out and we ordered our drinks. Food came out shortly after that and we didn't seem rushed at all. Secondly, the food was delicious and so fresh. I had the black bean soup, which I didn't want to share because it was so good but wanted my parents to taste it, and the chicken quesadilla, which left me with a serious food baby. There was serious teamwork - our waitress frequently checked in to make sure we were enjoying everything, another waiter brought us our food rather enthusiastically, someone else refilled our waters, and another waiter brought me a plastic bag for my leftovers. The energy and ambience was lively and if you're in the area, you should definitely give it a try! Olé!

We had made a reservation for 8 but they gave us a table for 7. When we asked for a different table we were told that we couldn't move any other tables because of the impending dinner rush. At the time we were the only customers in the restaurant. They finally did put a much larger table on the end which I banned me elbow on several times. The rest of the visit went well. The food was really good. I had nachos that had two layers (like nachos are supposed to have)! The food for the rest of our party also looked and smelled delicious. If it weren't for poor service at the beginning of our trip I would have given 5 stars.

First and foremost, BYOB BYOB BYOBBB with a very reasonable $5 corkage fee. - Small parking lot but doable - Warm and cozy in the back room on a cold winter night - Don't stuff your face with too much chips and salsa before you get your food...oops - $10 for a giant bowl of ceviche: Loved everything except for the shrimp...but I won't knock them down for that. - 1/2 Chicken Mole: Flavor explosion in my mouth! Tender piping hot chicken covered in a thick layer of mole sauce...even the breast was cooked to perfection. I could've used more guac, lettuce, and tomato though for the amount of meat on the plate. - Lamb shank: Incredibly tender and flavorful. Everything is reasonably priced and the service was wonderful. I absolutely loved this place and will definitely come back again.

Do not Go!!! AWFUL SERVICE NOW AND QUALITY DIMINISHED from years back. SALVADORE AND CAESAR ARE GONE AND TOOK THE EXCELENCE WITH THEM. Was once my favorite restaurant along with their smaller location in lower pikesville called the Mexican Grill. Even had my my Mothers 60th birthday there few years back. Will never step foot in their restaurants again. Served us watered down salsa with water sitting on the top. Served us fermented sangria teas. The servers were rude and cut their eyes at us or were just not attentive, took forever to return to the table. Salvador where are you now. Your management style was impeccable and we miss you. We will follow you anywhere.

The food was delicious, the service was fast & very courteous & our waitress/server even offered us a ride home, because our cab was taking long. If I was single, she could take me home. Lol :) Over all, I will be returning here in the future.

Disclaimer: Review is based on Valentines Day. So some of things that happen maybe due to that. So like many other couples who busy with work my boyfriend and I forgot to make any reservations for V-day. So we called many places to see how long their wait was. We called Mari Luna and they say its just a 5min wait. At this point we are shocked! Why is the wait only 5min long??? lol is the food bad?? lol We than realized that we should be thankful and get our butts there because 10 other places we called just said the wait would be 45mins! We walk in. Servers are everywhere tending to tables. No one even noticed that we walked in. I walk towards the kitchen to get some attention. :-( They tell us that someone will be with us. 10 mins later we are seated with fresh salsa and chips. Quickly our waiter takes our orders. We tried to tell him it was our first time there and to tells us his recommendations but he was to busy to talk. So he lost a few customer service points for that. We both order chicken quesadillas and beer battered fish tacos! It was so good! The chicken is so moist with a hint of smoke to give it some favor. The fish tacos was a little small for $4 but it was tasty. Overall the food was a hit! We both decided to give up taco bell!!! lol This is authentic mexican food with favor! Love it! Lost a star for customer service! ( Could also be a language barrier also, most of the waiters spoke spanish) NEW PLACE FOR MEXICAN NIGHT! FOR THE WIN! LOL

Best tacos and pupusas in Baltimore, MD. BYOB and make sure to order the carnitas tacos. The owner represents the Salvadorean traditions to the tee and she is charming with her guests!!

Good Latin-American food of any stripe is a rare gem in the 'burbs. Apart from the hole-in-the-wall taquerias between Jessup and Laurel, most of the good stuff is concentrated in the city north of Fell's Point. And on a Friday night, I wasn't gonna fight the traffic. Mari Luna's two locations have been on my bookmark list for a while, so what the heck - let's give 'em a try. The braised lamb shank (Cordero Jalisco) was righteous - meaty, tender, nicely seasoned. Very tasty, even if I was missing the tortillas for wrapping - an oversight I never even noticed because I was shoveling forkfuls of lamb shank into my face. Yucca fritas came out piping hot and crisp, with a little salsa verde for dipping. I love fried yucca's light texture as compared to potatoes - I wish non-Latin restaurants would start serving them instead of fries. I could not resist an order of sopapillas with vanilla ice cream to wrap things up. Hot, crispy/chewy, drizzled with honey and caramel with a whiff of cinnamon in the dough. Mari Luna Mexican Grill is very casual, bustling, and a bit noisy. The food is very well prepared. I'm giving them the full five stars, because of all the Mexican/Latin-American places on this side of town, their kitchen makes the most effort to provide flavor. We will be back to try more.

We were bowling nearby and yelped restaurants and this came up with the highest rating. SO HAPPY we stopped in! It was wonderful. I knew it would be walking into it... nothing fancy that's for sure but the wait service was extremely attentive and friendly. One thing a Mexican place has to have is good chips and salsa which they had both of. Salsa is the best I have had and very fresh. It is BYOB which we did not know so we were told we could go across the street if we wanted to the liquor store.. and got pre mixed margarita mix. We asked for glasses... thinking we would get water glasses... They brought out margarita glassed with salt around the rim, special straws and limes. We all got tacos... I had carnitas and fried fish and both were incredibly fresh and amazing. The carnitas was an amazing flavor and the fish perfectly fried. Corn tortillas were also some of the best I have had. My husband got the steak which he loved. Someone else got the tongue which was excellent as well as the lamb. $45 for 4 people for dinner. Can't beat that. I will most certainly be back.

The food has been good consistently over the years. The cheese quesadillas are delicious. I really like the papusas, plantano fritos and the flan. I recommend the yucca frita (fried yucca root), if you've never had yucca give it a shot. I also recommend their fried ice cream for dessert. The service is friendly and fast. Whenever I've called in orders they are ready for pickup when they say it will be ready and that time is pleasingly quick.

What's Spanish for "Meh"? The place is quaint and there are some bright colors being rocked by the walls in there. The food was subpar and nothing I thought it would be given the hype. Our server was a young guy, and he was really nice and very attentive. I doubt I'll be back, but if you're really into Mexican food and ambience, this place may be for you.

Better than the Mari Luna Latin Grill up the street. Authentic and savory. Sample five tacos and I dare you to find one you don't like!

We have been searching for an authentic Mexican restaurant for a while and boy are we glad to have found Mari Luna! The food is really fresh and the prices are very reasonable. I got the gorditas and my husband got the enchiladas, both were very good portions and delicious! Plus it is BYOB which is a nice feature. It doesn't look like much on the outside but who cares when the food is so good!

We started off with the empanadas and pupusas, not something I would expect to see on a Mexican menu. The empanadas had softer dough shell (not flaky) that was stuffed with either pork, chicken and cheese. The pupusas were round pancake like corn disks filled with either pork or cheese. The pork had the best flavor and the texture was a cross of a pancake and corn bread. The server was really nice and brought me a small tasting of the creamy butternut squash soup which had lovely hints of spice. I couldn't decide between empanadas or soup, so I tried both! They serve large portions here, but we continued to stuff ourselves with the entrees. We ordered the Carnitas Uruapan, Chicken Mole, Carne Asada and a daily special of ribs. The Carnitas were tender chunks of pork that had been simmering in a rich, spice infused sauce. This was served with rice, friljoles rancheros and flour tortillas. It was definitely my favorite. The Chicken Mole was a thick, spice and chocolate sauce. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the rice was a nice accompaniment to the sauce. The Ribs were offered as a daily special - I wasn't expecting to see that on the menu. They were cooked nicely and seasoned with a mix of spices. The Carne Asada was probably the least flavorful or interesting dish of the night. The tenderized steak was a little chewy and bland. We found space in our stomachs to finish off the meal with a tres leches cake and sopapillas. The cake was moist, rich and surrounded by lots of whipped cream. The sopapillas were light, crispy tortilla squares served with a frozen ball of vanilla ice cream. Mari Luna Mexican Grill is a brightly decorated and compact restaurant. There is no waiting area, so you walk right into the restaurant. They really pack in the tables to handle the crowd. The parking lot is even smaller and the neighboring streets prohibit parking. I'd recommend carpooling with your party. It's also BYOB, so bring in your choice of adult beverage.

Last night my husband & I ordered carry out from here. We assumed it would be crowded due to it being Valentine's Day. I placed my order & was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived in 15 minutes (we only live a mile away) & my food was waiting for me, nice & hot. I ordered El Plato Combinado which contained a nice appetizer combo. Everything in that dish was delicious. My 2 year old l9ved the cheese pupusa. The pork tamale was flavorful & very tender & moist. My husband ordered the garlic shrimp platter. It smelled divine & the shrimp were cooked to perfection. The portion size was great for the price. I ordered a shrimo chimichanga. I could not finish it due to how huge it was. It was delicious! This place never disappoints me. The food is consistently good & the staff is always friendly.

We're frequent flyers here... The chicken tortilla soup is a great place to start. If you're into hearty soups, get the Mariscada. The mussels are another great one, be sure to dip the bread in the liquid of the mussels, YUMMY!!! We always order off the menu on the table, they update it frequently and everything is usually pretty tasty. We'll be going here for a long time!

This was a close 5-star rating for me. I ate here on Friday night with a few friends including fellow yelper (Niran A.). I ordered the seafood chowder special (Marascoda?), which was chock full of fresh seafood and bathed in one of the tastiest broths I've had the pleasure of pouring down my esophagus. If the restaurants sold this stuff I'd literally brush my teeth with it. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce, which was also quite yummy and our two friends ordered a marinated pork dish (whose name escapes me), and steak fajitas. The chips and salsa were always a highlight and are more addicting than crack. Our desserts, a lava cake with passion fruit ice cream and a stuffed cupcake, were divine as well Now I've eaten at this Mari Luna several times over the years. Its the first of three restaurants now operating in the Baltimore area, and whenever I eat here I can't help but be reminded of what a miracle it is that this place has survived for so long in what I believe is one of the hardest neighborhoods to keep a restaurant open in. The restaurant was once a Carvel ice cream stand and has about 20-25 tables. In other words, this place is small. It's one of those "hole in the wall" kind of join that you want to call your own. But in Mari Luna's case, it's less of a hole and more like a gold mine. So why not five stars? Well, the service was sub par on my most recent experience. I also felt that the dishes somewhat fluctuated in terms of quality. However, like I said before this was a close 5 star for me... I'll definitely be back here soon though so I hope I can update my review accordingly.

We had just moved to the area and saw this place with great ratings. However it was a disappointment. We had chicken fajitas and a burrito. The food was well below par. The chicken was essentially frozen Tyson's that they warmed up. 0/5, will not return.

We were picking up our kids at the camp bus and needed a place in the area. I found this amazing Mexican on yelp. The whole family LOVED the food. I have three kids who are Mexican food experts and this place blew us all away. The empanadas were delicious. Beef was the best. Fajita wrap was a lighter version and I really likes it! My daughter loved her quesadilla too. Highly recommend!!!

I used to really like going here. Unfortunately, over the years their prices have increased while quality and service have decreased. Last time we got 2 orders of 2 chicken tacos and a coke. The tacos were just ok, coke was never refilled, and our bill was $19. Most definitely not worth $19 for that tiny meal. We won't be going back anymore.

Finally! I found authentic mexican food in Baltimore! This place was delish! Whenever I miss home (CA), I will come here. I had the chile relleno and enchilada combo plate. They were both very good, although the relleno was pretty greasy. Since it was the only one I have enjoyed since living on the east coast, I cannot complain too much! The rice and beans were perfectly seasoned, and the salsa fresca was perfect as well. There aren't that many inexpensive options for kids, but that's ok. My daughter enjoyed her chicken quesadilla from the appetizer menu. The servers are really nice and made me miss home. I love the ambiance in this place. It feels like it could have been in Santa Cruz - the room is decorated in beautiful bright colors and there was nice latin music playing in the background. The only thing missing are margaritas. I really wish this place had those. Then it would be absolutely perfect.

Incredible! I went for lunch with a co-worker and we were seated immediately and attended to. We shared and appetizer of Grilled Chicken Nachos and Pomegranate Guacamole. The nachos were topped with everything delicious under the sun! More than enough food for two people. Everything was reasonably priced and delicious, and all of the wait staff is very accommodating, attentive and personable. I can't wait to return for the California Chicken Wrap!

Authentic Mexican experience, I think...? Well, I dunno, I have never lived in or near Mexico, so I wouldn't know, I guess. HOWEVER, my girlfriend is from Southern California, and she said this place is pretty much the "real thing" as far as it goes there. The wait staff was friendly and seemed to be pretty much made up of hispanic (possibly even... MEXICANS... dun dun dun!) folks with accents. They all spoke English fluently, though, and pronounced everything correctly so as to cause no confusion when ordering. The chips and salsa we got right away (free - hell yeah!) were pretty delicious. I will say that I've been to several "Mexican restaurants" in the area - even ones that are raved about by others (El Salto, La Palapa) - and while I enjoyed those places and their chips and salsa were decent, NONE of them have anything on this. I couldn't stop eating the chips and salsa, literally... I could... NOT... STOP... MYSELF! Usually I eat a bunch of chips and then tell myself "Okay, enough", and save room for my meal, but hell, these delicious free chips were too much for my willpower... I willingly gave myself over to the Dark Side of the Tortilla like Anakin freakin' Skywalker. As for the food? Well, I can't remember what my girlfriend had, but I know she raved about it for weeks afterwards... But me? I had chicken gorditas. These were the real thing, not that thing that Taco Bell sells and calls a gordita. They were nice, soft, thick, floury corn tortillas that were slit open and stuffed full of tomato, cheese and chicken... And it was... AMAZING. Go here if you want Mexican. Go to Taco Bell if you want Mexican't.

Best chips and salsa in Baltimore! My parents live super close to Mari Luna, so I always suggest we eat here when I come to visit. The chips and so hot are fresh and the salsa is excellent. It has the perfect kick to it and you can tell it's fresh. I could eat these chips every day. At Mari Luna there's a standard menu and then there's a specials menu. The specials menu always seems overpriced to me, so I always order from the standard menu. My favorite meal here is the chicken enchilada platter with red sauce. The enchiladas come packed with chicken and smothered with cheese and red sauce. The red sauce is pretty mild, so if you don't like really spicy sauces it's absolutely tolerable. The enchilada platter is served with rice, beans, guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream. The rice is always tasty and cooked well. The beans aren't my favorite, since I prefer refried beans, but they're pretty good. The guacamole is excellent and perfect for slathering all over the enchiladas! I'd highly recommend Mari Luna Mexican Grill if you're looking for tasty and authentic Mexican food in the Baltimore area. I always leave with a full tummy and very happy.

After growing up in Los Angeles AND living in San Diego for college and beyond, I am a self professed Mexican food snob. I've been on a 3 year quest to find good Mexican food in Baltimore, but to no avail. I've been repeatedly underwhelmed (SIGH!). This place, however, is legit. I mean really, really legit. My fajita chimichanga was delicious and I am salivating as I type this and am recalling that yummy deliciousness. My trek from Baltimore City (Canton) was well worth the drive for this yummy goodness, although, one star was taken away from them not being super clear abou the fact that this place is BYOB. If you're a fan of Mexican food, and even if you aren't, give this place a try - your tastebuds will thank you.

Read good Yelp reviews and headed there excited to eat, arriving at 9:10pm Unfortunately all the chairs were upside down on the tables and they were cleaning the floors. So, not really open til 10 on a Tuesday night. Hope to try again sometime soon. I know they thought they were done, but traveling Yelpers rely on this info, so it has to be accurate.

The Parrillada is delicious!! The ribs with mango BBQ sauce and steak was our fav items in this dish! The lamb was nice and tender but in some pieces you could taste the char from the grill. Plantains were very sweet and cooked perfectly. New side fav is butternut squash...Yummy! This was a nice choice picked on a whim

We had a great dinner here the other night. I had a taco platter with chicken and barbacoa (FYI the barbacoa is LAMB - that's why it tastes different!). I love, loved the chicken, but wasn't wild about the barbacoa. Just wasn't spicy enough for me. I also got a tamarindo. It was perfect with my meal. My husband and dad both got steak fajitas and cleaned their plates. I don't eat a lot of beef, but I thought they were delicious. Flavorful and tender. The waitress was kind enough to make my daughter a child-sized quesadilla (not the appetizer). It was so good, that i was sneaking bites of her cheese. SO GOOD, that a cranky tired toddler who fell asleep on the way to the restaurant was a very happy girl in the restaurant. The staff was friendly and very prompt. We'll definitely go back next time we're in town....and we're from south california!

This seems to be the best place in the area for Mexican food and frankly it left me craving for flavor. I had a fish taco and a shrimp taco along with a nachos trio appetizer, and I feel a bit disappointed. I get a hankering for tacos at least once a week, and I'm still unfulfilled after visiting this place. The food isn't bad, it just has no wow factor for me.

I found a gem in this restaurant. Food is fantastic, employees are professional and attentive and the owner is friendly and welcoming. I moved to Reisterstown from Washington DC and I missed my good Latin restaurants. I've now found one here and I'm loving every scrumptious bite and sip.

My food was amazing. I got yucca, plantains and cholo( slow roasted pork shank in sauce). My husband food was quite bland though and our service was quite bad. But I left full of yummy pork so I'll give them another shot.

OK, nobody warned me not to drive through 20 blocks of ghetto and condemned homes down Reisterstown to get to Mari Luna. And I thought the Bronx was crappy. Good grief. That being said, the food probably could have been better if I wasn't soured by the drive down. I thought my empanadas were better than my chile relleno, but over all, I had a nice time. Staff is friendly and fast.

  • Jody S.

I USED to love this place but it seems they've become a little too full of themselves. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and ordered the chile relleno not realizing that it has chicken in it. There was a description of the item in the appetizer section of the menu but she ordered it off of the combination section where there was no description. We order chile relleno often and had no reason to believe that it would contain chicken. They flat out refused to exchange the dish for anything else and told her that she would have to pay for the food she could not eat. I have never been treated that way ANYWHERE....for a dollar's worth of ingredients they have lost a loyal customer who frequented all three establishments and recommended them to everyone. Ridiculously bad customer service and very poor judgement on their part.

Pretty good I Would say although the salsa is a little bland I didn't find it to be extraordinary but for the area you can't complain

The decor was lively, so I was hoping the food would be too. That wasn't the case. The veal tasted funky, the rice wasn't fresh tasting, the beans weren't refried (which is typical in a Mexican joint) and they weren't even warm! Not to mention that they were extremely runny. The entire meal left me disappointed and annoyed that I had spent too much on a meal that gave so little. I don't suggest eating here. Go to another Mexican restaurant that's cheaper and tastier.

Mari Luna Mexican Grill is one of my favorite restaurants. Being in Pikesville, you would expect this to be some gringo rendition of Mexican fare, combined with watered down flavors to suite the local clientele. None of this is true. Mari Luna offers some of the most authentic Mexican food I have ever eaten. Working out of a kitchen the size of a bathroom, the staff and the food never disappoint. I have sampled almost everything on the menu over the last few years, and while everything is good, there are certain must-eat dishes. I always used to order either the crab enchiladas, or fajitas al carbon (steak fajitas), which are both delectably delicious, but then I discovered the Carnitas Uruapan. This dish is chunks of slowly braised pork served in a rich chile braising sauce, topped with fresh onion and cilantro. It is hands down the greatest dish on the menu. Mari Luna also has a bunch of weekly specials which are a little more exotic and a little more expensive, such as Sea Bass, or Lamb Chops. The staff is always very friendly and knows how to speak English. Despite the miniscule kitchen, food always comes out in a timely manner and is always consistent. I love this place and will continue to eat here for a long time. Still hard to believe that such a gem is located right in Pikesville.

Mexican food is my favorite. But Mari Luna Grille really captures the essence of the flavors. They use fresh herbs and make the MOST AMAZING Salsa ever. Fast service, great prices and amazing staff.

BYOB?! No margaritas?!?! What?!? That was a deal breaker for me! I did however head to their other restaurant (Latin with sangria!) and it was great!

Tried this place out for the first time yesterday and boy oh boy was it so good! I heard great reviews but I was skeptical because not everyone can create authentic Mexican dishes. As soon as you're seated you're offered fresh salsa and homemade tortillas, absolutely delicious! I ordered the sangría tea, which I loved, even though I'm really not a fan of sangría. Since it was my first time, I wanted to start out with something easy, enchiladas in salsa rojo with shredded beef! Talk about a party in my belly! The dish came with three enchiladas, rice, beans, pico etc... It was definitely enough food to take home for leftovers. The staff are great and the ambiance is just homey. I'm definitely going back, because there are so many othe things to try!

I've had a bunch of different items and must say I have yet to be disappointed. Fresh chips and salsa. I think the Taco Salad is outstanding. Their carne asada is delish. Kabobs are awesome too. Really can't say anything bad about this place.

We ordered the mari luna taco, pork taco, steak taco, rice and beans, and it was all excellent in quality and freshness. The pico de gallo was excellent! The waiter was friendly and attentive. I wanted to adopt him into our family. He was genuinely concerned about our food allergy issues and took detailed notes of what we needed to have a safe dining experience. We were having a late dinner and a big thunder and lightning storm was quickly coming in. The lights flickered slightly and we paid the bill as it started to downpour. It was a fantastic storm! The people working there were so nice they offered to let us stay to wait out the storm even though the restaurant was closed (it was 10pm!). What a delight! We declined their generous offer as we decided we needed to head out as we were on our way to Washington DC for the weekend and we still had an hour to drive and check into our hotel. To top off the already high level of service we received they offered us to borrow their umbrella to get to the car in the rain- what a wonderful place, what wonderful people! This is easily going to be one of our go to restaurants whenever we are in the area. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the people are wonderful.

Okay. Let me start this by saying that I'm VERY picky about Mexican food. I judge a place based on their chile rellano and variety and most places can't meet my high standard. Until I came here. The variety of food was INCREDIBLE (for example, I've never been to any Mexican restaurant where I can get fried plantains and ceviche, which by the way, both were EXCELLENT). The pupusas were delicious the chile rellano was the best I've ever had. The prices were awesome, as well. My only complaint was the volume at the restaurant, but you can't blame people for packing a place when the food is that good. Can't wait to go back!!

I've been driving by this place for years, and always wanted to eat here. I am a big fan of Mexican food, so I really should have eaten here sooner. I played it safe, ordering beef enchillada's and fried yuca. Both were stellar, and really delicious. I probably wouldn't get the platter next time since it's too much food, but it's worth it. My boyfriend played it simply stupid, and ordered a California Club. I punched him in the face later for not ordering Mexican. Idiot. Between the two of us we spent under $30. It was well worth it, and I will totally come back to this place!

Stopped in here for lunch. Had the Ensalada and a chili relleno. It is one of the better chili relleno that I have had, larger for sure. The lime cilantro salad dressing was very good. This is not a fancy place just a step up from a food truck but good.

So, perhaps I just ordered the wrong thing the first time around - and thankfully we decided to give it another shot! - because I am now a Mari Luna fan and am excited to include this place in the regular rotation of restaurants we frequent. The waitstaff really couldn't be nicer - you're greeted as soon as you walk in and checked on multiple time throughout your dining experience. I even have to note that when my husband's dinner was brought out, part of it was different than he requested but didn't say anything. As soon as our waiter saw it, he came over immediately to apologize and correct the situation. Very impressive. Now on to the good part - the food. The complimentary chips and salsa are good. The salsa has some heat to it, but not overpowering. My husband ordered the steak fajitas, which had great flavor to them and were plentiful. My Peruvian chicken was fantastic. It was tender and juicy with a hint of smoke. Combined with the rice and side salad, it was a generous amount of food, which I ended up taking half of it home. Needless to say, we were stuffed and had no room for dessert. But next time around we'll make sure to order the sopapillas - our neighboring table devoured them and said they were fantastic. I suggest stopping in very soon - I know we will!

I always leave this restaurant with a full stomach and a smile on my face! We started with one of their specials, the corn and crab chowder, which was absolutely delicious-- piping hot, creamy, and full of flavor. We then split the crab quesadillas and the steak fajita platter. The quesadillas are on the menu as an appetizer, but they're definitely a meal in themselves. They are absolutely stuffed with real crabmeat, making it worth the price. The steak fajita platter comes with tortillas, beans, rice, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo-- perfection! It includes a generous portion of steak, easily enough to split between two. The servers are always friendly and the food comes out surprisingly fast. Overall I would say a very satisfying dining experience!

Hola! BYOB Verde sauce please... chicken tingas are excellent and so is the lobster bisque, rack of lamb, pina colada and familal service. BYOB baby. Edwin and Daniela are great servers. They keep things running in the tight and cozy space. The food is always fresh, hot and delicious - great cooks. Best casual restaurant in Pikesville and general area. DID I MENTION BYOB???

I love this place. Their homemade salsa is spicy and fresh and served with warm, extra thin tortilla chips. My favorite is their salad with the mixed seafood (crisp greens and vegetables served in a tortilla shell topped with copious amounts of ceviche). I often see latin families dining in here which leads me to believe the food is authentic as well as delicious.

I was really excited to try Mari Luna Mexican grill after numerous raving reviews but after my visit I was let down. It was lunch so we ordered 2 taco platters. Each included 2 tacos, beans and rice. The rice was good but the beans were a barbecued type of bean. I prefer black beans or refritos with my mexican food and was very bummed when they arrived. The tacos were mediocre. Edible but no wow factor. We ordered the carnitas and the barbacoa. The pork carnitas were sort of tasty but the meat was over cooked and dry. The barbacoa was really fatty and tasted like corned beef. Barbacoa I have had at other restaurants had tasted better and spicier. I am now second guessing what Barbacoa actually tastes like.

We found this place when someone mentioned it in another review. Although it was a bit of a drive from the Parkville/Towson area, my girlfriend and i decided it may be worth the trip to try something new. We were very pleased with this place. After the grueling tasks of decided what to get (everything sounded great!) we ordered and our food came out promptly. The service was good and the food was excellent. The prices were decent too, Also, my water glass was frequently refilled which is always a huge plus in my book. The only downside, and could perhaps be avoided, was the food was not as healthy as I imagined from the menu. While some items were clearly designated as fried, other, which we expected to be baked, were also fried. Oh well. It was still good.

This is the BEST Mexican food around! Everyone in my family has a favorite - burritos, arroz con pollo, quesadillas, enchiladas... but we all agree that no matter what you order, it is always hot and delicious. The service is always excellent although if you go on a weekend night you may have to wait for a table since Mari Luna's is small and usually packed! Best of all - You can BYOB!

So I'm picking up a friend in Pikesville the other day and we decide we need some food, so our good friend Yelp comes to the rescue...yet again. Like just about everyone else on here says, you're not going to be disappointed in Mari Luna. I was kind of hesitant because this lone building just pops out of nowhere (as in there's no discernible Latin enclave nearby), though it does look cozy and colorful from pretty much any vantage point. Although I grew up eating enchiladas at Mexican restaurants, my southern boy nature won out yesterday and I had to get some pulled pork (read: carnitas) and my oh my it did not disappoint! Yes, homemade tortillas, and a braising sauce for the meat that was one part tomato, one part brown sugar, and a whole lot of yummy in my tummy! For $14 you got this whole platter which easily makes two meals. Yay leftovers! Although it's a rather small space, my friend and I sat out in what looks like used to be a patio, though the space has been completely incorporated into the inside space. The walls are bright colors and there are pretty ridiculous decorations everywhere, like a bovine skull with a stuffed rooster on top. What?? Regardless, it'll make for conversation and you'll definitely remember the place.

I'd give this place 3.5 stars. My friend (who is Mexican) recommended this place to me, and I had a pleasant dining experience there. I particularly like the combo option, which allowed me to choose among a list of 12 choices (i.e. tacos, empanadas, gorditas, chile relleno, etc...), and you have the option of getting 2,3,or 5 choices. I got a 2-choice combo with shrimp empanada and something else that I forgot now. The food was decent (nothing special about it though), and it was relatively cheap. We ended the meal with the tres leches cake. It was alright (too much stuff with the banana/chocolate/whipped cream). Slightly peeved by the service. The lady was pretty slow in servicing us, and we waited over 20 minutes to pay the check.

My husband and I have been trying since moving to the area to find a mexican place that was authentic, and we think we've found it! It's tiny and looks like nothing from the outside, but both the food and the service are great. Will definitely be back!

My god.. The tomato base seafood soup with the homemade tortillas here might be the best bowl of soup you can get in the DC/MD region. This place is consistently great. I highly recommend it.

Hit or miss entrees, good salsa. We've eaten here several times and had true mixed experiences. The carne asada was terrific once, and terribly dry and low-quality meat another time. The tacos were overdressed yet not flavorful enough, and the beers seemed expired. Since we visited, they have gone to BYOB. I have coworkers that adore this place and am willing to give it a chance again - it's always busy, which to me is the mark of good, fresh Mexican food. Staff is friendly and service is quick, even during a busy lunch time.

Went here for lunch yesterday and it was good. My wife and I had the Special salad with shrimp and my father-in-law had the chicken fajita. They were all good. They should point out the specials which are under glass at each seat but we did not see them till after we ordered.

I LOVE Mari Luna! I mean..LOOOOOOOOOVE IT. In fact, I was just there yesterday for the 12397840297424th time and was there the week before when we had the snow/ice thing. Their food is always cooked fresh, always good, the service is always great, the atmosphere is also great. One downside is there isn't really anywhere for people tos tand as they wait for a table which is a problem in the winter or when it rains. But it's totally worth it! I do have to say I miss the Israeli place that was there originally (I used to be friends with the owners' daughter back in elementary school, so I'd had their cooking at home too)...mmm. But DEFINITELY an adequate replacement! Have I mentioned how good this place is? I did? Okay, so why are you still reading this and not getting in the car to go there?

I happened to be this city for a couple of hours. A friend and I have Empanadas de Carne Pollo o Queso, Chile Relleno Platter and Carnitas Uruapan. Empanadas look like a big dumpling, but it taste totally different, and I love the chicken inside. But Chilem Relleno Platter is a little bit weird, like a burrito inside but using a big green pepper cocooned, but it is not very spice. The beef for Carnitas Uruapan is great! I love it badly.

Do not use a credit card here!! I recently went with 3 friends and since then, 3 of the credit cards we paid with were stolen. The numbers were taken and put onto new cards and then used to make large purchases in the same store (Nieman Marcus). We called the manager of the restaurant but she was extremely rude and said we didn't have any proof. I think it would be an unlikely coincidence for three of us to have had our credit card numbers stolen, used in the same store and it not have been from when we were having dinner together! I have been to this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed it. I will never go back.

I have been to this location many times in the past, but not in the past year or so. Went last night and found it was still pretty good. We were seated quickly and the service was fast and plesant. Food was good. My son and I ordered combo meals and both were good. My husband got a Chile Rellenos dish and it was good too. Only complaint was we ordered a cup of queso and it must not have been melted enough as it was so stringy when trying to dip our chips it was almost impossible to get the cheese to stick to the chips or not be long strands still tied to the bowl. They refill your drinks ASAP without asking. Plenty of food.

This is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever dined at. I never knew that Chile Rellenos could be so good. It did have a rating of 27 on Zagat in 2008, but went down to 26 in the 2012 book. The reason is probably because it has opened 2 other locations since. The food is immaculate period!

We enjoyed a delicious bowl of corn chowder and the best salad I've had at a Mexican restaurant. The salad had fresh greens, toasted pepitos, mandarin oranges, cheese, tomatoes, shredded carrots, radishes and avocado. Cheese quesadillas were large and nicely cooked. Beef burritos very tender, chicken taco was a little dry. Very friendly and attentive service with reasonable prices. We'd definitely go back.

Good shrimp tacos, carnitas, and salads. The servers are courteous, and the place is always pretty clean. The Spanish rice is OK, not great, but quite passable. Good salsa with just a bit of heat (served with the almost manditory these days) hard corn ships.

  • Trish A.

I love going here for the veggie burritos, though the space is crowded and the tables are pretty close together - definitely not somewhere for the claustrophobic! It's more vegetarian-friendly than it's fancier counterpart (Latin Grill), and actually has vegetables on the menu. Order the Sangria (has no alcohol), and snack on some amazing chips with great salsa. The staff is friendly, though a little hurried. BYOB

My in laws live about 5 minutes from Mari Luna and every time (3-4 times per year) we visit we have Mari Luna. We've eaten in several times and carry out most of the time. Everything we've had there tasted fresh and homemade with care. I would argue to the grave that their steak burrito is the best anywhere and they are HUGE! So for any $11 you get a fantastic dinner and sometimes lunch for for the next day. My wife and mother-in-law love the chicken taco salad that could feed four people they are so big. The service is excellent and fast. They are also Zagat rated. I'm not a hot sauce connoisseur by any means, but their hot red sauce is unbelievable and worth the additional heart burn. The mild green sauce is also delicious. We've also heard they do a great brunch.

This review is based solely on the Chile Relleno Platter....Sin Carne. I get it w/o chicken, just ooooey goooooey yummmmtastic cheese. Ok, I just drooled a lil' thinking about it! I have had many a chile relleno after discovering them only a lil' over a year ago. My search for the next best one had continued for months....until I found this place. I don't know if I could ever find one better....nor do I wanna. Eating this plate was like crawling back into the womb of my mother....but this time she wasn't a silly gringa but a dark haired Latin beauty! (You are still beautiful momma!) I can't tell you how great the pepper is, how great the cheese inside is as it slides out into the waiting red heaven of a sauce. These peppers are barely breaded....such a light coating of breading I oft wonder how it stays on. However I can't ponder this too long as the smell forces me to dive right in! It comes with a side of rice which is so-so and beans which are BANGIN! I haven't investigated if there is meat, as I suspect, in the beans.......I'm skeerd to find out. If they aren't meat infused....then they are even better. Ok ok, now I have to call up and get an order to go! Happy eats!!

This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to in the United States, and for all intents and purposes, the best I have ever had. I have been to Mexico numerous times and have had some great food, but I must say that this place is just better. No threat of Montezuma's Revenge is also a plus. This place is only missing a short Mexican woman moving from table to table producing a variety of deathly spicy hot sauces. From the moment I walked in, I could just tell that this place was going to be good. It is relatively small, but nice. A look at the menu and extensive list of specials left me in a state of culinary confusion. There were just so many great dishes to choose from. I then noticed that this place was BYOB as there were many regulars sitting with six packs of beer or a bottle of wine under the table. Another good sign. The place was loaded with regulars. I settled on ordering the paella Vallenciana. There were much more Mexican dishes to choose from, but I wanted the paella as I often use it as a benchmark in judging a Mexican restaurant. My dad ordered a pork dish that I now forget the name of. We decided to share a mussels appetizer. The mussels were among the best that I have ever had, cooked perfectly in a spicy pico de gallo wine broth. My paella was like no paella I have ever had before. A split Caribbean lobster tail on topped a mound of scallops, clams, mussels, shrimp, squid, pork, chicken, and sausage. Everything was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. I usually eat quite a bit, and this dish was enough for three of me. It was the best paella I have ever had based on taste and appearance. My dad's pork dish was amazingly tender and was seasoned perfectly. The pork was cut into strips, but would break down into pulled pork texture in your mouth with just one bite. Id like to get that recipe for my pork. As a final note, the service was also very good. Great job guys, keep up the good work. Will be back soon (with a six pack)!

Mari Luna is a family-run place that makes truly incredible Mexican food. The care with which the food is prepared is obvious. The ingredients are fresh, the meals are surprisingly healthy (especially at the new second location "Mari Luna Latin Grill" further north at 1010 Reisterstown Road), and the service is typically excellent. They are busy, but I have never had to wait more than a couple minutes. The second time we went there, they actually already remembered us; not just our server, but many of the staff; a testimony to the fact they the people who make Mari Luna what it is really care about running an exceptional business that will grow and prosper. The decor and ambiance at both locations is excellent; the Latin Grill is more swanky and formal, but both are fun. Small tips: - The salsa is amazing; you can buy some on your way out too. - Try the rice pudding with orange sauce at the Latin Grill! - Their chicken dishes are great; the chicken is the most moist I've ever had at any restaurant. - Try their sangria; apparently the Latin Grill has both white and red. Go check each of them out to see which location suits you most!

Mari Luna is our favourite restaurant in Pikesville. The food is fantastic; fresh, current and most of all, so tasty. The service, impeccable. We do prefer the original Mari Luna to her more upscale younger sister down the street. Think we'll head over this weekend for a nice lunch! :)

Went back the other night - we remember it being good the first time. It's not your average Mexican food. It's above average. It gets really crowded though - either come early or come late - or have fun eating dinner with 7 people standing next to you drooling all over your food. BYOB!

Mari Luna Bistro checks out! I went to the Cathedral street location and just happened upon Happy hour with $6 margaritas and $2 bottles of Yuengling. We got some delicious guacamole and sizzlin' fajitas that came with homemade flour tortillas, freshly cooked pinto beans, and Mexican rice that wasn't dry. Bonus points for the complimentary salsa trio.

Yuck! I'm a foodie and I make my own guacamole at home - and it's SO easy to do - but this place should be ashamed of itself. Brown guacamole served alongside my taco (though the green guac as an appetizer didn't taste any good either), the salsa was off, and clearly days old lettuce was served with my veggie taco (though the taco was okay... Though just okay. I had to add pico de gallo to make it taste right). Big miss!!

I go back and forth about this place. Sometimes the staff are gracious and sometimes surly. The food is nearly always very good. The tamales are superb! There can sometimes be a line and a bit of a wait. If you are meeting others here it can be annoying as they WILL NOT seat you until your whole party arrives. This is kind of short-sighted in my opinion though their business does not seem to have suffered. All in all, recommended.

My family and I had a good time going to this restaurant. It took us a while to get seated, but we got nachos and salsa right away once we did. The salsa they use is excellent. Our server was attentive and made sure our drinks were filled all the time (try the sangria tea it's great btw). For appetizers, we had empanadas that were hot and delicious. I had beef enchiladas with red sauce and rice and beans. It was so filling I didn't even need to have a dessert, but still wanted one. The servers had thick accents, but were very nice and accommodating, the portions were nice, and I have to say for the money my family and I had a very good meal.

My first trip to Mari Luna will NOT be my last. The servivce was attentive, timely, and courteous. Chips and salsa were a nice start. The food was prompt, accurate, hot, and delicious. I had the 3 enchilada combo with crab, shrimp, and cheese as my choices. The shrimp and cheese were excellent and the crab was "good" - it could have used a little something like some old bay seasoning. The beans and rice were also good. The guacamole tasted as if it came from a package, but the pico was top notch. The prices were appropriate for the portion sizes. The dining room is clean and cozy. On-site parking was convenient.

The service is outstanding and the food is probably one of the most authentic mexican you can get in the area. None of the chain tex mex garbage. Try the tacos....3-4 will get you full at 3.50 a piece.

I work down the street from Mari Luna and decided to order some carryout for lunch last week. I had the steak burrito and it was delicious. It came with guacomole, sour cream, and Pico de Gallo on the side. The price was a little over 11 dollars but it was a huge burrito and ended up taking half of it home to eat for dinner. I will definitley make Mari Luna a regular lunch spot now that I know how good it is.

2.5 stars, but I'll round up. I found the food acceptable but by no means exceptional on my last visit. It didn't taste terribly authentically Mexican, either, but it was at least a little bit different than the run-of-the-mill. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, but that wasn't the restaurant's fault, it was the fault of some stocky idiot with an big anger management problem who decided to loudly and threateningly harangue a waitress (for about 5 minutes) for some ridiculously minor mixup with his dish. She was too patient. A woman nearby was carrying on a loud, shrieking, conversation with her cell phone punctuated by the kind of laughter that scares pigeons. Slightly weird clientele, and it didn't help that this was one of the few times we ventured out of the city to eat.

I was introduced to this restaurant by a fellow librarian so my Husband and I thought would would check it out tonight. You can't miss this place because of the color of it! (yellow building with the red awning). They have a parking lot out back but it fills up quick so they haver permission for their patrons to park in the lot for Rite Aide across the street. The decor of this place reminds me of when we were on our honeymoon in the Mayan Rivera. Welcoming and warm clay style tile floors with bright colored walls and mexican art work. Everybody starts off with a basket of multi-colored tortilla chips with a smokey salsa. We then shared a bowl of the Sopa de Tortilla con Pollo Chicken tortilla soup topped with cheese and fresh avocado ($5.00). This was the BEST tortilla soup I have ever had. Huge chunks of chicken, veggies and avocado. If you try it! For my main entire I had the Chicken Chimichanga-hand-rolled and fried golden brown. Served with sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo ($9.00). This was perfect! The chicken was so juicy but it didn't make it soggy. The whole thing itself was not greasy at all. The rice and beans weren't over powering and had a great taste. My Husband had the Carnitas Uruapan-Juicy chunks of pork slowly roasted for several hours and topped with onions and celantro; with warm tortillas. Served with sides of Mexican rice and frijoles al la charra. Guacamole, pico de gallo and sour crme on the side. ($14.00) I tired some of the pork and it was very juicy and had a great flavor. They had a huge list of daily specials and desserts. They now have a liquor license so they do serve alcohol ( i guess this is new). The food is VERY authentic and the BEST Mexican food I have had since being to Mexico!!!! Everyone one inside was family and makes you feel very welcome and at home in their "house" We have heard it gets busy a normal dinner hors (we met there at 4:45 and got a seat right away).

It's hard to rate this place because the food was really tasty and reasonably priced (we ordered 2 entrees, crab quesadillas and fried plantains), but the service was below average. If you're a snob about receiving great service, you will be disappointed. We had to wait for a hostess to great us for about 10 mins, then we ended up seating ourselves because we got impatient. While our waitress was nice enough, we felt rushed the entire time and actually preferred to pack up our food to take home where we could eat in a relaxed environment. Despite this, we are looking forward to checking out the sister Latin Grill location just to see if the ambiance is more accomodating and date-worthy.

I love this place! Granted, I've only had one dish here, the vegetable enchilada platter, but it was so good! I loved that it was byob as well! Even the slightly kitschy decor is fun. I just wish they had a little bit of music playing, then it'd be perfect!

Eaten 3 times, and everything is always fresh and delicious. Good size portions too, I think it's totally worth the money. Great to go for lunch or dinner, anytime--but on weekends it's packed so be sure to try to go early.

Love this place! I literally live 1 minute from here walking distance, and I must say it took me 3 out of 5 years that I lived in this area to come after all this time. I mean I always drove past here on my way to school so much but never went in. When my sister and I finally walked over from our house to mari luna's, I went inside and noticed how extra tight it was but proceeded to order my steak quesadilla's, while my sister ordered her arroz con pollo..we both only waited about 10 minutes for our food because we were not sitting in, but once we got home and I ate my quesadilla it was love and my sister enjoyed her arroz con polo, I can definitely say it's authentic Mexican cuisine...I really want to try the deserts(fried ice cream) mmmm I kno it'll be good. Oh and the only downside is the parking lot, it's really small and tight but hey so is the restaurant, and may I add that there's additional seating on the side for larger party's. Come here you won't regret it!

Great Mexican place in the neighborhood. Has become very popular since it opened. I try to go every time I'm in town. The food always tastes fresh and well prepared. It beats all the chain style Mexican fast-food places hands down.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
