The wanton soup was tasteless with overcooked noodles. The chicken basil was exceptionally salty. The green curry was good but separated and the Tom Ka soup was good, not amazing but good. Overall the service was ok, the waiter didn't hear my order for Tom Ka soup, even though I said it twice. I found this ironic since he tried really hard to up sell us, which both of us found annoying. I will credit him this, he noticed that the wanton soup was untouched and removed it from the bill, however he did so with the excuse of its tasteless quality being because they don't use msg. I wanted to say you can use some of the salt from my basil chicken.

This place gets five stars based on deliciousness. Forever ago I found this place because I went to drivers ed down the street. I lived off the Spring rolls and Rice 5 nights a week. I went back today with with my mom. The interior of the place, I don't believe has changed in 15 years. I am never one to go to a restaurant on looks though. I am there for the food, and the food was BANGIN'. I got the drunken noodles, she got a veggie dish and we split the "fried candies". We were also served a complementary spring roll which was delicious. The fried food are crisp, hot and not greasy. My chicken drunken noodles were the perfect amount of heat. I like really really spicy food, and this was great. They had a nice green chile sauce on them. The noodles were a bit thin. I like those really wide rice noodles, but I won't take away stars for it! So So good! My mom is not a heat freak like I am . She asked for her dish spicy and regret the decision. The very kind waitress saw her eyes watering and offered to remake it for her, a empathetic accommodation that I've never seen anywhere else! Word to the wise, unless you like that burn your throat feeling DON'T ask for things "spicy" at a thai restaurant! Haha. Overall this place is a great gem in a overlooked location, I definitely want to reestablish my status of a "regular" here.

We've been here twice. The first time the food was good but not amazing. This last time we went, every item was hands down some of the best Thai food we've had... And we LOVE Thai food. This last trip we had Spring Rolls, Shrimp Toast, Pud Thai & Drunken Noodles. They were all to die for. If I was able to give it a 4 1/2 stars I would because my first trip was more like 4 star food, but the point is neither time were we disappointed! Lunch portions were great for the price. I felt like each our dishes could have fed two for lunch. A great local Thai spot is a treasure. Give this place a shot!

This is off the beaten path for me, but my friend goes to the gym next door and wanted to check it out... Thai iced tea- delicious. Complimentary spring rolls- nice touch! On my suggestion she tried the Panang Curry and it was really good! I had the Drunken Noodles, which were really spicy and good. They were different from other drunken noodles I've had but I can't explain how. I can't say I'd make a special trip to go here, but only bc it's kind of far from me, not because of anything there.

Hello Bangkok Oriental! I just moved here 2 weeks ago and have finally found a great place for some pad thai. THANK YOU! It has been years since I had excellent pad thai. I have eaten here 3 times so far and it is the second best pad thai I have ever had and I am a fan!!

simply phenomenal. food is flavorful and delicious. It's nice going somewhere that folks recognize you too. One thing that stands out is getting vegetables along with your meail. I only order carry-out, so can't say if that's there for dine in, but getting the fresh steamed vegetables really adds a lot of value and flavor to the meal, not to mention nutrition ;-) It's my new favorite Thai spot.

This place is amazing!!! The food is incredibly well made. The presentation is impeccable and the flavor has the perfect balance of richness and freshness. This is the best Pad Thai I have had on the east coast!!! The service and decor is inviting and warm. Just try it, you won't regret it!! FYI: the portions are HUGE.

THUMBS DOWN!!! We were in the mood for Thai food and decided to try Bangkok Oriental because it is closer to our usually Thai food spot (Bangkok kitchen) because we moved. We were the only customers in the restaurant on a Tuesday night (08/04). The restaurant needs a good cleaning and can use some updating. We sat down and went with our usual app, Larb Gai. I ordered it and requested it with sticky rice. The waiter looked at me crazy and asked if I wanted regular rice, or sticky rice, I told him we wanted sticky rice. He started explaining to me what sticky rice was. I was polite and listened and told him that we still wanted to sticky rice. The waiter had no idea that my mother is thai and I grew up on thai food. Explaining sticky rice to me was not necessary. When the Larb came out it was served with Romaine lettuce which was a first. I am use to it being served with cabbage. No big deal. I did have a problem with the sticky rice being covered in the coconut sauce. We didn't want the dessert. During the app we did not see our server. Luckily, I located the water jug and was able to refill our waters. We refilled them ourselves three times!! I'm pretty sure he was waiting in the back for our food, but it was still very annoying. Before ordering my meal, I asked the server if the chicken was fried. He said, "yes." The menu does not do a good job explaining their entrees. I order Gai Puket at Bangkok kitchen and wanted to find something similar. When my meal came out it was not fried. It was pieces of chicken smothered in what looked like hot sauce with vegetables. I asked the server why he told me it was fried. He said, "oh, you want McDonald's? " I said, "No. I explained what I usually order when I go to a Thai restaurant. He took the dish back and I ordered Pad Thai with shrimp. My husband ordered a beef dish and it was too spicy. I am use to spicy food but this was overwhelming. The Pad thai was ok. I requested it with beef but the waiter told me I could only get shrimp. Overall, this dinner was a huge disappointment. We will not be returning.

This location is a personal favorite thai spots for carryout. The food is consistently made above average quality and very flavourful - whether the dish is made traditional or thai-spicy - their whole menu has many dishes to choose from. 4 stars - great customer service, though this location is slightly more expensive than other competitive eateries in the area, but the relaxing atmosphere for lunch service cannot be beat. Be warned though, the neighbouring gym really cranks the volume up for evening sessions and can be unbearably loud between the thin walls.

My family has been eating here since as long as I can remember. The food is incredible, great portions for the price. The staff and owner are so nice and friendly. I've had great experiences both dining in and carrying out!

Quality of food = great! Taste of food = amazing! Drunken noodles, mango sticky rice, thai ice tea, green curry--all fantastic. When they say they'll make something spicy, they definitely will! Atmosphere = lovely lighting, ambient jazz music, and decor. My only complaint, as well as one another table had that night, was that the servers took a really long time to bring us our checks.

This place is not good Thai. Ordered yum salad and pad see ew for lunch. The portion of salad was small and the celery was weird. Las someone who was had many Thai beef salads, didn't think the celery went well and the beef wasn't tasty. The pad see ew uses thin noodles which the waiter told me. This was fine as I had thin noodles and thick ones before. The issue was flavor. It tastes like it was cooked in baby corn juice, which from my experience not pad see ew. It was also very oily. They were very slow for lunch, I was the only one eating in. Disappointment, considering its 4 star average.

On the recommendation of others I had the Drunken Noodles. Awesome. Good spice and fresh. Three State Troopers were having lunch near me and proclaimed this joint the best in the County for Thai.

Although I've been to this place more than once, I just felt I had to rave about it now. We went with a group of friends to celebrate birthdays. The owner was wonderful and gracious. The food was fresh, tasty, and piping hot. I have never been disappointed with this restaurant.

We are addicted to the basil chili chicken, drunken noodles with scallops, and Pad Thai. We order them Thai hot. We discovered the restaurant about five years ago and were hooked immediately. Dennis and his team are committed to great service and outstanding food.

I have been going to this Thai restaurant for over twenty years. Unfortunately, our schedule has precluded us from visiting in a while. Bangkok's signature dish for me is their Basil Chili Chicken. Was it the best I've ever had here tonight because I've been away for a while? I did notice that my normally talkative family were distracted by their favorite dishes. The Mango Sticky Rice (a must have) capped off an outstanding meal. In our ever changing world it's great to be able to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine that only seems to get better.

This is hands down the best Thai restaurant Ever. The owners/chef/staff are delightful. Orders have been perfect for over 10 years now. They care about the customer and the food. The Thai Curry(red, green, Panang) have ruined us from enjoying any other. Bangkok Oriental is a restaurant full of Joy.

Always a good experience. Love the tom kha, red or green curry chicken, and basil and chili beef. Good service too.

So far, I'm in love with this place! This is my first visit and I couldn't have asked for a mite individualized dining experience. I asked for recommendations with two major thoughts - vegetarian and mild-to-medium curried spiciness. The very pleasant gentleman who seated me suggested the vegetable tofu lunch special which, for me, was almost perfect! Very nice blend of textures in the veggies-baby corn, squash, water chestnuts, sugar snap peas (I think), carrots, celery, bok choy. The sauce was just the right temp- right between mild and medium; some kick but still palatable for those of us who don't like to be overwhelmed with the heat. The only thing that I didn't enjoy as much was the sponginess of the tofu-but it was still delectable enough to order another order to go :) Do NOT miss the mango sticky rice! This, alone, is worth coming to eat. It's a pleasing blend of tangy-sweet mango and mildly sweet sticky rice-and mangoes aren't even in season! I can't forget to mention how truly gracious everyone is. This made the experience even more delightful :) I don't live in the area but will definitely be back every chance just get!

I came here on a night when the snowstorm was about to hit, so it was unfortunate that I did not have a chance to dine in. The owner/co-owner? suggested I carry-out when he was about to seat me, which was reasonable as I would've been the only one in the place when they were getting ready to close early. If I had known they were closing early, I would've tried Mission BBQ up the street. I ordered the Pad Thai and while waiting for my food, the owner graciously handed me a sampling of their Thai Tea...with ice cubes in it...while it was snowing out... It was a sample, after all-- I am the kind of person who likes my coffee black for the bitter flavor and to be able to taste some differences among the different kinds of brews. The same would go for my Tea - adding sugar just takes away from its taste. I can't remember the last time I had Thai Tea anywhere else, but it was too sweet for my liking. Onto the food - given, I did have to drive home due to the carry out suggestion. By the time I got home, I immediately opened the container and the food was still hot. Good.. I first noticed their serving of shrimp was fairly generous. However, the taste of the Pad Thai just wasn't there - it was bland. I even tried popping it in the microwave to warm it up and to try to draw out any aromas and flavors, but it did not. I ended up adding Siracha to it. Maybe the flavors disappear after time? In addition, where were the crushed peanuts? I may go back

Nice place, food is great, I only ordered the curries and pad Thai and garlic chicken.. All great . The cook had been really good about altering recipes for, such as not using soy sauce, for people with specific allergies

I came here with my daughter for lunch. First off noone was manning the reception desk. I had to call so someone would seat us. After seeing other people's reviews we drove her expecting a great home cooked thai meal. The items are overpriced. Fried candy was too oily. I ordered pud Se ew and I got a dish that was way too salty. I sent the dish back and he returned with the original order with soy sauce on the other hand. I have been to many thai restaurants and never have I been given soy sauce to alter my food. Gave this place one star for giving a home made flan to make up for the poorly seasones dish. Utterly disappointed. Never will return here..

I love this place. My parents used to own a small business in the same strip mall, so I know the menu here, front and back. The food is fresh, flavorful and authentic. I've never been disappointed. On hot days, I love the larb salad - spicy beef in top if fresh greens. Couple it with a Thai iced tea or Thai iced coffee, and I'm in heaven. On cooler days, the basil chili beef hits the spot. The spring rolls are hands-down, the best I've ever tasted. I'm half Filipino, and love lumpia - but the spring rolls at Bangkok are light (tasting), crisp, and filled with shrimp and rice noodles. I've tried to duplicate at home, but no luck. Other favorites include drunken noodles (spicy carb goodness), garlic chicken, curry or ginger pork. It's so hard to get good, authentic Asian food in Pasadena - but this place hits the mark.

We came here for lunch one day after I was craving Thai food. We thought the place was closed and the exterior of the building looks dingy but figured it was worth a shot. My husband ordered the drunken noodles and I tried the pad thai with shrimp. We both really enjoyed our dishes and plan to come back!

When it comes to Asian food, this is a hidden gem. It's tucked in a strip mall behind a large car dealership, but that doesn't effect its quality of food. The Thai food is absolutely delicious - large portions, well prepared, a lot of variety. Despite its lack of curb appeal, the inside is nice and spacious. I've never had to wait for a table. There aren't many Thai restaurants in the area, which also gives this place a lot of appeal.

I second Matt! This place is incredibly delicious. The portions are generous and consistent in flavor and quality. The owners are very hospitable, and will go above and beyond to make a memorable dining experience. My family has been going here for years even though it's about an hour trip. Worth it every time. Bangkok is a restaurant worth trying.

Another restaurant with bad pricing. Taking advantage of the innocence of how much a regular very good Pad Thai should cost and its convenient location. The Pad Thai is good portion that can possibly feed 2 people and has a good size of 6 pieces of shrimp at a lunch price of $10.50. This does not include tips, taxes, and soups. The service was fast that I feel like I was in a fastfood Chinese restaurant. Express me out.

If you're looking for wonderful Thai food this is the place! I have been eating at Bangkok Oriental for 19 years now and while there are some other decent Thai food restaurants around, this place is consistently good and you don't have to go to the city to get it. I mean it is right in Glen Burnie...easy parking & delicious food now that's a winning combo. Some of my personal favorites are: Thai Iced Tea, Spring rolls, Drunken Noodles, Fresh Basil & Chili Chicken, red, green & Pa-nang curry...they are all so good! And if you like it super spicy like me...just ask for it to be made "Thai hot." Beware you might not feel your tongue and you might need a few tissues... If you have room for dessert and the sweet mangoes are in season the Mango Sticky rice is a must! The Coconut Custard Flan is worth a try as well!

One of my all time Favorite Thai spots! The Tom KA Soup is perfect! For an Appetizer the fried candy with spicey dipping sauce is yummy. The Panang Curry is my Favorite, also the Thai basil beef is very good, They make great Pad Thai and my friend really likes their drunken noodles. Try the Mango with sticky rice for dessert. This place doesnt look like much fro the outside but dont let that deter you. It is well worth it. My one and only complaint is that they do not offer the green papaya salad here (which is one of my favorite salads) A+++++

  • Good For The Palate R.

After visiting Thailand I really think this is authentic. My favorite dishes are the House Tid Bits for Two, Saam Rodt Shrimp, and Roasted Chili Paste Shrimp. Just a bowl of their steamed veggies shows off the chef's talent, they are steamed to perfection. I have never had a bad bite here. Their Thai Iced Tea and Mango Sticky Rice are wonderful. They also have a Coconut Custard Flan with Sticky Rice when mango is out of season. It is the perfect ending to a spicy meal. The creamy texture and sweetness really cleanse your palate. Only complaint is sometimes slow service, BUT its worth the wait. Check this place out. Prices are reasonable, portions are large, flavors are strong and balanced. Its a quiet restaurant with attractive decor. Carry out travels well.

I really wasn't too impressed with the Thai food. I started out with the Yum beef salad, which had a kick to it. It definitely had a different taste to what I'm used to and I've had better. For the main entrees I had the drunken noodles and felt like it was very flavorful but the noodles seemed a bit overcooked, giving it a slightly mushy starchy texture. I also had the chili paste chicken, which was pretty good. I enjoyed the medley of veggies it came along with. Finally, to satisfy my sweet tooth, I just ordered a thai tea, which was a sugar overload. It was waaaaaaay too sweet for my liking. I couldn't even finish a third of it. Be prepared to take some food to go because the portions are really big.
