This place is a joke. I cannot understand why so many people go here. I think they are locals who don't know of anything better. I've been there about 3 times, and only because I work close by and there is not much choice. Each time I go there, there is something shady happening. The first time I ordered carry out, there was a line on for a tip and I left it blank. There was an extra $1.00 charge when I saw the receipt on my bank statement. The second carry out I picked up, I made sure to cross a line on the tip and write the total - this time an extra $5.00 tip for themselves. I complained to the owner and he said he would handle it. Haven't been there for a while and got breakfast today. With the order I got two large orange juices. When I picked the order up, the orange juices were in what would normally be considered small cups. I asked about this and the waitress wold me that was correct. I laughed, thought about it, and came back about 10 min later and ordered a small orange juice (thinking that a small must be a dixie cup). She asked if I would like to use the cup in my hand. I told her no this is a large orange juice. She then tells me that the small comes in the same cup, but is not filled up all the way. LOL. BTW, their bacon, egg and cheese sandwich is okay, all the other food is nothing good, and is way overpriced.

After many years of locals telling us to eat here, this is our family's new favorite Pasadena restaurant and Amanda is our all time favorite server in the whole world! I usually order the daily special for dinner and it's always delicious. Our whole family loves this place. The other servers all seem attentive and friendly, too. Edna is the only one who has lost her love of people and unfortunately, she is the manager.

I've been going to Johnny's since I was a kid. It's never been anything special, but I prefer to patronize local businesses whenever possible. Until it becomes too much of a hassle, that is. And that's where I am with Johnny's right now, it's not worth the effort. Johnny's has typical diner food. Country gravy from a can, leather-like bacon, and cheap, bitter coffee. I ordered eggs and French Toast made with "Texas Toast". For the $5.99 price tag I expected 2 pieces of inch-thick bread for my French Toast, but I was disppointed to see regular sized bread on my plate when it arrived. I guess they ran out of Texas-Sized Toast that day. The eggs were done perfectly, however. Pretty hard to screw them up. After our food was placed in front of us I raised my fork to my mouth ready to enjoy that first bite when I was interrupted by another server who asked me to hand her the condiment bin so she could refill the jelly and sugar packets. I was like "really?! while I'm eating?!". That coupled with the rest of the wait staff sitting at the counter yapping it up while I was trying to enjoy my breakfast was too much for me. I think that was my last time at Johnny's. I guess I'll venture to Severna Park for breakfast next time.

We were seated quickly and the waitress took our drink order right away. The crab dip appetizer came out hot and delicious very soon after our drinks arrived. Everything we wanted from the menu was available, came out hot, and was delivered to our table as we finished our salads. I love stuffed flounder and Johnny's stuffed flounder is delicioso!!!

Still enjoy the friendly family atmosphere of Johnny's. With our kids getting older they are becoming more conscious of their eating habits. Of late they have begun to desire apple sauce with their sandwich instead of potato chips. Unfortunately Johnny's does not allow healthy substitutes. They will of course add the healthy side to your order as an additional charge....

If this is not your go-to place, it should be. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. My mother-in-law had a senior-sized (smaller) hot roast beef and gravy. I had one if the best meat loaf dishes I have ever had. I will be going back - and going back often. I bet they serve a mean breakfast - cannot wait to try it.

We usually choose Johnny's because they serve a late breakfast. The menu is huge and the food is very reasonably priced and always good. I've had the Reuben which is great. All of the breakfast food is good although I'm not a big fan of the sausage gravy or chipped beef. I recently tried the ribs which were delicious - meat fell right off of the bone. There is seating in the front and the back. You wait your turn and seat yourself. Wait staff is friendly and accommodating. They're usually a little crowded on Sunday after church so you might have a short wait.

Needed a place to take my young sons to for breakfast that wasn't fast food. Wanted to hit up a diner but didn't want to drive all the way to Double T. Glad I took a chance on this place. Breakfast was great! Just what you'd expect from a diner & that's just what I was lookin for. The kids loved it & said they want to come back next Saturday. I hope to try dinner sometime too.

In 2011 I harshly reviewed this location based on one terrible experience, it's until recently when I became exposed to Johnny's yet again. Locally I came to visit the area and was offered take out from Johnny's to start off the morning. Within several minutes my meal was back to the house and I opened my containers -- scared, and expecting something similar to my previous experiences; thankfully, it was different. Ordered a basic egg, bacon, and hash browns platter which was a lot larger than I remembered. The overall taste is a lot better than before but it is quite basic still. The hash browns were slightly cold and just plain, and the egg's must have a ton of milk in them which isn't a bad thing. Johnny's is average, and local -- a staple in the community where local's dine and meet. Overall it's not a bad place for a meal, just keep in mind it's probably not going to blow your culinary mind away. 3 stars, try Breakfast Shoppe in Severna Park roughly 15 minutes away and compare the two.

I usually have good experiences there. The waitstaff is always friendly. However, today the food wasn't great and the floors were dirty. I ordered a salad that tasted sour and looked sad. Some of the fries were uncooked and flavorless. Tonight might be a fluke but still it will be a while before I eat there again.

Johnny's is exactly what the name states: a FAMILY RESTAURANT. It is so difficult to find a nice, family-oriented, family-owned restaurant with good food. This place's breakfast will knock you off your feet! I've been going here since I was kid. I moved out of the area about 5 years ago but I still make the hour trip down to Johnnys for a "home-cooked" meal. Super cheap prices, same familiar faces and just a great atmosphere all around :)

Finally tried this local place for the first time and am sorely disappointed. We were ignored for the first 10 mins of waiting for a table then notified it was a 'seat yourself.' But not before having our table offered to the couple that came in after us. The only positive was the very nice waitress. Food was 'meh'. Not good, not bad. Finally, we stood in line to pay, only to be cut off by another patron which the lady behind the counter gladly obliged

Average food for a sit down restaurant. The steak was tiny and most of their meals are overpriced compared to what you can get elsewhere. Updated 6 July 2012: I went back recently and gave it another shot. Let me tell you something, if you're in the area you have got to try their Chicken Chesapeake sandwich. It's not sure if it wants to be a chicken sandwich or a crab cake, but this is truly a case of the sum being greater than its parts. As a family restaurant it's nothing special, but it's worth it if only for the Chicken Chesapeake sandwich.

I can't believe these bad reviews after my wonderful experience here! Went on Sunday during the Ravens craze. The only thing I was disappointed by was the Ravens! ha A friend and I were craving breakfast and came here. Though it was pretty full, the waiters seemed to be doing their best to ensure tables were cleaned fast for new guests to be seated. All the staff seemed friendly and outgoing. Loved the open kitchen visible to guests. Obviously the food is not going to be some out-of-this-world amazement since it's breakfast food, people! What do you expect? For what it is, I enjoyed my meal very much. I am known to order Country Fried Steak and Eggs at breakfast diners. This steak was perfect. Not too tough like most places usually serve. And the gravy was smothered on beautifully. Great temperature and perfect serving for a breakfast platter. I wasn't a fan of the eggs, but I never am. I usually don't like home fries, but enjoyed their's--very soft. We got a huge pile of toast to share smothered in butter which I'm convinced is the best toast I've ever had--YUM! My friend enjoyed her french toast and omlette as well, which all looked scrumptious. I also ordered the house sweet tea. It was a bit sweeter than I was prepared for. Refills were given without having to blink twice. No hesitation in asking to split the bill either. Definite hometown family-esq feel, which is everything I look for in a diner. Thank goodness we didn't have to go to IHOP haha. Next time I am in the area, I will be here. Loved it!

I like places like this. Unpretentious eateries that where the food matters more than the experiance or decor. However at Johnnys the food is seriously lacking. The cajun omelette I ordered was extremely bland with a "cajun sauce" which was just stewed tomatoes with a small amount of seasoning. The hash browns were almost tasteless. If I'm going to be gorgeing on starches at least make them taste good. At least the toast was good. You can't screw up toast. The decor is a mish mash of everything from county kitchen to irish themes. The price is low, but if the food is below average than the price should be lower as well. My wife liked her food so I hope she writes a review to help average my less than average rating.

Have only been there for breakfast a few times, but have enjoyed it every time. There is a good variety offered on the menu, and they even made my favorite omelet (bacon, onions and cottage cheese) on request - and did it well! The food is cooked hot and the toast is just right. Ambience - The building is almost like two very different restaurants grafted together - we prefer the back section, which is lighter and brighter. Service - excellent, and friendly, at least in the back section. Your coffee cup is never empty. The front seems to be where many of the regulars hang out though, and it seems that is probably is the kind of place where they get to know your name if you are there regularly. The front is rather noisy, as it is where the grill is.

I went here with my grandmother, sister, neice and my 8 month old son for lunch. I had the chicken salad with a side of cottage cheese. I thought it was pretty good. It's not a fancy restaurant so take it for what it is. My only gripe is that this is supposed to be a family restauant and there was no changing table in the bathroom. I had to balance my son on the sink because there was no way I was putting him on the floor. And definitely not changing him in the middle of the restaurant with a diaper full of poo.
